Also, thanks to those who leave reviews. It's fun to see that people like what i write.
P.S. This is a long one compared to earlier ones.
Chapter 3 - Out of Prison
"Who the fuck are you?" Vi said to Caitlyn. Shit, probably not gonna be very cooperative this one… Caitlyn thought.
"Name's Caitlyn Kiramman, I'm an investigator."
"Yeah? Then what the fuck do you want from me? I haven't been outside this place in years."
"Hmm… I took a look at your file. There's no record of you or your crimes. What are you here for?"
"Oh you know, just my sunny personality" She said, approaching the cell door, scaring Caitlyn a bit. Shit, focus Caitlyn, she's locked in.
"You attacked an inmate. Why?"
Losing interest Vi walked back to the middle of her cell again "Why not?"
"He was a witness in an ongoing investigation."
"Hmm, bummer." This girl is just… what am I doing, I'm wasting my time here. Caitlyn thought
"Alright, this seems to have been a waste of time…" She said and started walking away from her cell.
"Couldn't have put it better" Vi said back immediately, clearly a bit irritated. Caitlyn kept on moving away, there was nothing more to gain here.
"Hey, why don't you give Silco a kiss on that winning eye of his, will you?"
Did she just… Silco? Why is she talking about Silco? Caitlyn turned around, new hope in this girl maybe being able to give her some information after all.
"Silco? The uh, industrialist?" She asked her.
"Okay, this is getting old, cut the crap." Vi shook her head This conversation is pointless Vi thought. "Listen, just send in whoever's gonna kick the shit out of me so I can get on with my night, okay?" She seems… like she really doesn't like Silco huh… Caitlyn looked down on the ground for a bit, taking notice of the clear pink line that was probably meant to be a separator so that people wouldn't get to close to an inmates cell.
I need to show her something, she might recognize it. Caitlyn thought as she walked over the line, getting real close to the cells door.
Caitlyn brought forth some of the evidence she'd collected in her notebook, showing it to the girl. "Does this mean anything to you?" Vi slowly looked towards her, taking a few seconds to look at it from afar. Is that… is that Powder's drawing!? Vi threw herself at the cell door to get a closer look, scaring the shit out of Caitlyn in doing so.
"Where did you get this!?" Vi said, clearly incredibly interested in whatever it was that Caitlyn had shown her.
Caitlyn had collect herself after the scare she'd just recieved. She straightened herself, closed her book and started talking. "My question first. Did the guy you beat up work for Silco?"
"Uh hello? They all do. How can anyone not know that? Where did you find this!?"
"Calm down. There was an attack recently. This is evidence that I've collected from the scene."
An attack? Is Powder… No, there's no way she'd ever work with him, no fucking way. Vi thought.
"I need proof if I'm to believe what you're saying about Silco is true" Caitlyn continued." Vi scoffed a little, apparently finding it funny.
"I could get it for you. But obviously not from in here, you know?" Vi said with a cheeky smile. This made Caitlyn snicker a little. As if. Caitlyn thought to herself.
"In what mad world would I ever trust someone like you?"
"Someone like me? You enforcers are all the fucking same! Just asshole criminals in fancy uniforms. You know what? Find Silco yourself, good luck." Vi looked disgusted at Caitlyn for judging her instantly as someone not trustworthy.
Caitlyn was taken aback for a bit but quickly refocused herself. "I will, thank you." She said and started walking away, once again.
"Hah, the Undercity's gonna eat you alive girl." Vi said, leaning on her cell door, watching Caitlyn walk away. Caitlyn stopped, hesitating. Fuck… She's probably right isn't she? Caitlyn Breathed deeply. I'm gonna have to get her out of there aren't I? She thought as she continued walking away and taking the elevator back up to the entrance.
Fuck… did I just miss my chance at getting out of this place? Vi thought to herself, getting a bit depressed, sliding down her cell door, hugging her own knees.
"Powder… I need you, I miss you so badly…"
On the way back down in the elevator Caitlyn made contact with Jayce with some kind of new communication device he'd developed that he'd given to her earlier in the week.
"Jayce? It's Caitlyn, I need permission for the release of an inmate in Still Water Hold."
"Hey hey hey, hold up! What are you talking about you wanna release a prisoner all of a sudden, what's up?"
"Okay listen I don't really have time to explain the whole thing but there's this girl in here, she seems like she's honest enough and can apparently show me to some evidence that might prove that Silco's involved in all of these recent attacks on Piltover."
"Really? I don't know Caitlyn it sounds a little to good to be true to me."
"Just… please Jayce, do me this favor? It's not like I'm releasing a prisoner to help me with my evil plans or something."
"Heh, fine. I'll contact the prison warden and let him know about you."
"Thank you Jayce."
"No problem, but you owe me one!"
"Fine, we'll come up with something." Caitlyn hung up and waited for the elevator to arrive at bottom floor.
"I've got permission from councilor Talis concerning inmate 516" The big man behind the desk chuckled.
"Not cooperative, huh? You uh, want us to have a chat with her?" He said, making a show of how he was ready to beat her up if needed.
"What? No."
"Oh" A bit disappointed.
"She is to be released today, effective immediately and come with me under my escort. The Warden should've gotten the message already."
"Huh, let me check real quick." He quickly ducked under the desk and fumbled around with a couple of things and after awhile he got up again with a paper in hand.
"She really is getting released… after all these years."
"How… how many 'chats' have you had with her?" Caitlyn asked, a bit concerned at how they handle their prisoners here.
"You know. I never even thought to count." He said with a little bit of a smirk.
"I see…"
"I'll send Jack over to get her out of the cell, she'll be here in around 10 minutes tops."
"Good, I'll just wait here then, thank you." She said and made her way over to one of the benches in the hall, sitting down and waiting for Vi.
Jinx was making her way to Silco's office, taking her usual route through the hidden roof hatch. When she opened it she immediately heard someone conversing inside.
Oh? What's this now… Silco has company. She thought as she made her way further in and sat down on the roof boards just above his room, deciding to listen in on their conversation.
"You said you could control her. I lost six officers. SIX!" Marcus was down there, the sheriff from Piltover. Control me?
"She pushed it too far this time. The council's up in arms. I can't make this go away for you unless you give me something to work with." He continued. Silco leaning back in his chair, a bit annoyed at his outburst but also understanding.
"Arresting her would be doing you a favor." Marcus said, nodding his head in conviction.
"I don't need favors. I need you to do your job, Marcus." Silco replied, lighting up his cigar and inhaling a puff of smoke, enjoying it for a bit and then letting it out.
"The Firelights have been a thorn in both our sides. They ambushed my shipment at the Hexgates on the same day as the attack. It seems to me, the council has its culprit." This didn't seem to satisfy Marcus at all.
"Oh, that's tidy for you. What if I'm not interested in playing along, huh?" Marcus said.
Careful what you say sheriff boy… Jinx thought, twiddling her hair with her fingers.
"We've accomplished a lot together, Marcus… Sheriff." It was true, Silco had been a huge part of making Marcus the next Sheriff after Grayson died.
"And there is more yet to achieve. I hope you can remain a part of it" he continued. Leaning forward over his desk to intimidate Marcus a little. Silco gestured towards a coin purse of to the side of the room. One of the guards grabbed it and put it down in front of Marcus.
"For their families. From an anonymous, concerned citizen."
Oh Silco that's so cheeky of you…" Jinx thought, giggling very quietly. Alright, back to base, wanna get some more experiments done on that crystal I got. While leaving Silco's office, some dust made it's way down to the room below.
"Jinx?" She heard Silco say just before she left, but she had more important things to do for now.
Back in Jinx's hideout she was listening to some rock music and looking for solutions to problems she'd found in her new little device. She'd taked a book with her from the lab where she found the crystal ball.
"Boring… boring. Wow. Super boring…" Next page… oh, what's this? "Here we go!" Walking over to her device and sitting down she read the page a bit more carefully.
"It's all about these runes." Referring to the ones she'd drawn out on her device in certain places. "They form some kind of math-y, magic-y gateway according to this…"
To where? Claggor and Mylo asked in unison.
"To the realm of heebie-jeebies or something. And this…" picking up the crystal orb "turns it on." And dropping it into it's slot in the middle of her machine.
"So… here goes." She said, as the wires and crevices of her machine lit up in blue light.
Jinx… careful with that. I know! I know… Jinx let out a breath she didn't know she'd been holding. And turned on the device… The device exploded in blue light, a massive beam shot upwards crackling with energy. The force of the explosion pushed Jinx back a couple of meters, and the she looked at it… That's… no… Flashbacks, she saw it all. When she used her monkey toy as a mobile explosion device with that blue crystal from so long ago. When she was thrown back off the building just like this time. When Mylo, Claggor and Vander died. She saw it all again, in a second.
You killed us Jinx! You killed us! They all said to her. It's all because you're a fucking jinx!
Jinx started crawling in on herself, trying to hide from all the voices and the guilt that overwhelmed her. And then it stopped, the machine malfunctioned and the light turned dark, back to normal again.
Jinx was crying. Panting. Struggling to breath.
All your fault…
"No."
All your fault…
"No! It was a mistake!" she said, starting to run away from the machine to hide somewhere from her failures. "It was a mistake."
Quiet, all was quiet. The scene left behind not much different than before, but the air was crackling, crackling with energy unknown.
It's the same… It's the same crystal from back then. I never wanted to… I… She thought, as she was lying down on her mattress crying all alone with only herself to use for comfort.
"Vi." She looked behind her, still sitting on the floor, regretting not trying harder to convince the enforcer bitch to take her with her.
"Jack? What do you want…" She said, clearly in a sour mood.
"Uh, well… Just got news from the Warden. Apparently I'm supposed to take you to the entrance and uh… Release you to the custody of some enforcer girl.
What?… "Wait, seriously?" She said, standing up quickly and turning around. "I'm being released!?"
"Yup. No idea why but that's what they said."
I can get out… finally. I can finally look for Powder! I have to find her, quickly. Jack took out his keys and proceeded to open her cell.
"Well come on then, she's waiting for you at the entrance hall."
"Okay… I… okay…"
"Haha, fucking calm down will you Vi? You're being released be happy for fucks sake."
"I am happy! Just, speechless. I have so much I need to do."
"Yeah well, take that up with the enforcer when you get to her, now get out of here, shoo!" Jack said, small smile on his face. And then out of nowhere Vi gave Jack a quick hug.
"Wha- Where did that come from?" he asked
"I just… You've been good to me over the years Jack. Well kind of, not all the time but still. You were better then everyone else. Thanks."
"Not really hard to be considered a good person in this place when everyone's such an asshole but, you're welcome I guess. Good luck out there." And with that Jack left, going back down the dark halls of Still Water Hold while Vi walked over to the elevator, starting her descent towards the entrance hall.
"Hey, you! Were you waiting for me?" Vi shouted when she saw the enforcer girl sitting at a bench, legs crossed looking bored as hell.
"Oh, finally. Yes I've been waiting for you. Vi, right?" Vi raised one eyebrow at this.
"Huh, figures you'd know my name I guess. Yes, the name's Vi." There was a bit of a pause in the conversation before Vi continued. "So… I'm guessing you want me to get you some evidence on Silco then?"
"Yes. I have a boat ready to take us to land, from there I'm guessing you wanna go down to the undercity and get some information?"
"Yes… Yes I… I need to go to the Lanes immediately, for many reasons."
"Okay… Well let's not waste any more time then, come on."
Hope she's not about to up and leave me the first chance she gets… Caitlyn thought as they made their way to the water.
When on the boat, the conversation was awkwardly quiet. Caitlyn sat there not really think about anything in particular. More just interested in what was going through Vi's mind right now.
I'm coming Powder… I'm coming… Vi's mind was going crazy with all the possibilities of what could've happened to her little sister over all these years.
Is she gonna be okay? I hope she's been eating well and done a bit of training… I'm guessing she's probably involved with Silco in some kind of way seeing as her little trademark artwork has been appearing in places. Damn Silco, you'd better not have treated her like you treated your own fucking brother. Vander… Dad… What am I gonna say when I see her again? I… I don't know how I'll explain everything. What I did to her back then…
"What you thinking about?" Caitlyn asked all of a sudden. Vi had stared out into the horizon for almost the entire boat trip and she didn't turn around when she answered.
"Frankly, that's none of your business." She said, making it very clearly that she did not want to share her thought with Caitlyn.
"Fair enough, was just wondering, seeing as you've been zoned out almost the entire boat trip. We're about to dock." Finally looking in the direction they were going Vi saw that they were indeed very close to shore.
"Finally" She said, as if she'd been waiting for a long time when in reality she'd been lost in her own world almost the entire trip.
After they'd arrived at the Bathysphere station going down to the undercity of Piltover, Vi made her way to the edge of the flooring. Looking down upon her home, the undercity.
There it is, home sweet home. I'm coming Powder, won't be long now. Vi thought as she let out a pleased sigh.
Guess she's being all sentimental now huh? Must've been awhile since she saw her city. Caitlyn thought. "I heard the bathysphere has a nice view. That could be a good way to get a lay of the land." Vi looked back to Caitlyn and pulled her hood over her head.
"Too risky" She said, and jumped down a couple of meters to land on a piece of pipe sticking out the wall, and thus she'd started to make her way down to the Lanes. The quick and 'safe' way.
"What…" Caitlyn was shocked Did she just…? She let out a grunt. So this is how it's gonna be huh… Caitlyn also jumped down, but not at all as gracefully and started following the same route as Vi. Which was kind of hard considering her parkour was not something she had considered necessary in her daily life before this moment.
Vi was running, faster then she'd run in years. Finally feeling completely free. Jumping between rooftops, diving through balconies and windows. I'm coming powder! All she could think of was to make it down as fast as possible, already having forgotten about the enforcer girl, Caitlyn, who most likely was not able to keep up in the slightest.
And then Vi saw it again in what felt like forever… the central square of The Lanes. Home. Thought changed just a bit from before.
After Vi made it down to ground level she stopped for a second just to appreciate the air. It might not be very clean or healthy either compared to up above but for Vi, there was nothing better. Suddenly she heard someone whistling behind her and looking behind her she could see two thugs looking at her evilly. 1 girl, 1 boy. They slowly started approaching Vi, both of them chuckling a little at the predicament vi had found herself in. The man walked by her side, tapping her shoulder slowly and flicking the hair hanging down the side of her head a little. Then he stopped, in front of her.
"Nice jacket" Vi told him, he looked confused for a second, looked down at himself, and when he looked back up again, he was greeted by a fist straight to the face, knocking him out cold in one hit. The girl behind her tried throwing a punch in the back of her head but Vi was faster, dodging her fist and dragging her over her shoulder and then kicking her head when she was on the ground, knocking her out too.
"Alright, these clothes will do for us…" She mumbled to herself and put on the red jacket she'd taken of the man. Oh, there she is Vi saw Caitlyn standing by a wall, leaning against it and breathing heavily. Vi threw the clothes she'd collected for her
"Welcome to the Lanes." Vi said.
"You almost got me killed."
"Seriously? My little sister could do that when she was seven. All us fissure folk can do it. Don't you wanna blend in?" Caitlyn sighed, following Vi wherever she was taking her and putting on the jacket she was thrown. So Vi has a sister? Interesting…
"What… are we doing here? Caitlyn asked, as vi sat down at a food stand and ordered something to eat.
"What? I'm hungry."
She's… hungry? And she's gonna eat… this? Caitlyn thought, looking at what the man behind the counter was working with.
"Oh man I've missed these meals… thanks a ton Jericho!" Vi said to the man, he just kept on working but gave her a hearty laugh and seemed like he was giving her approval of some kind. Vi presented one of the fishes to Caitlyn, inviting her to try it.
Caitlyn looked disgusted at the idea of even putting that inside her mouth "No. Thank you."
"You're missing out."
"Are you going to question him?" Caitlyn asked vi quietly.
"About what? The meat?" Vi said sarcastically
"No, no about Silco. His connections? Isn't that why we're here?
"No I told you already, we're here because I'm hungry. Do you have any idea what prison food is like? No, of course you don't." Seriously? Is this it? I broke her out of jail for nothing? Shit!
"Unbelievable. I didn't break you out of jail to eat… slop. This was such a fucking dumb idea. You don't actually know anything about Silco, do you?" Vi ignored Caitlyn and finished her meal.
"Better than I remember Jericho." Jericho said something Caitlyn didn't understand, took her bowl and handed her a small paper. Vi flipped it over and on it was a symbol.
"Oh." Was all Caitlyn said as Vi started leaving the food stand, Caitlyn quickly following behind, not wanting to be left alone with this… Jericho fellow.
After what had happened with the her experiment involving the blue crystal. Jinx wanted to go back to a place of good memories. Maybe erase some of those bad ones with good ones.
You know what. I'm gonna prove that I'm better now, for sure. I'm gonna beat Vi's record at that stupid boxing machine! With a bit of a newfound spring in her step, she made her way over to their old hideout place.
Yeah… just like I remember it. Window's still broken since then too. She sighed as she entered through the broken window. This place was always so lively back then… Now it's just all, dead. They're all dead. Going further in she stepped on something. What's this? Oh… Heh… Mylo's ugly face.
What's the matter Mylo? You worried Powder's gonna beat you again? She heard Claggor echo of a memory say. Jinx looked up to the boxing machine, feeling more and more like she had to prove something, as always.
Suddenly she heard a sound to her right. She reacted fast, hand instantly on gun, drawn and aimed at the source of the sound.
Oh. A bird. The bird, a raven from what it looked like *cawed* loudly at her.
Fuck do you think you are. Vi thought, giving the raven a weirdly intense glare and pulled her trigger, killing the raven instantly. Jinx chuckled a little from this, gaining joy from killing for fun.
Alright let's do this thing. She thought as she made her wait over to the boxing machine Vi would always use.
Flashbacks of when Vi would use it flashed through her head. Now where do I put this little metal piece then? Referring to the metal plate she'd stepped on earlier. Hmm… here. Alright, good enough I'd say. Now to make this thing work again… She got to work fixing up the machine, making it ready for a good beating.
The machine was on, Jinx was standing there collecting her thoughts, preparing herself.
Vander. She could hear vi say. It's begun. Jinx flinches and starts to get flooded with memories of the past.
Because you're a jinx!
What makes you different makes you strong.
Lies, lies, lies, all lies! YOU HATED ME FOR BEING DIFFERENT! Jinx snapped. She was ready to give the machine hell.
Punch after punch, memory after memory, Jinx wasn't sure what was what anymore. She was Vi PUNCH, Saw her again KICK. Jinx fighting style was so different compared to Vi's. Jinx fought without any tact, but with insane speed and power for one of her size. Vi fought with tact and power, carefully considering each punch.
The memories were starting to get to much for her, making her yell out in desperation for attention, love, her sister. Her last punch was the hardest one she threw. All emotion she could muster into one punch, her face wet with tears.
Jinx was panting, exhausted from her physical but also mental exertion.
How… how did I do… Jinx looked to the scoreboard. Waiting for the machine to make it's decision. Yes, yes! It's climbing. Come on just a little more… no…
The counter stopped at 4408. Second place at the scoreboard, 392 points beneath the number one, Vi, with a score of 4800.
Hahaha, you couldn't do it after all. All these years has gone by and you're still so weak compared to what she ever was. Useless little jinx. Mylo said.
FUCK. YOU. Jinx thought back, shooting his face on the metal plate with her gun, making it spin around.
How am I still not stronger then you Vi?… It doesn't make sense… it doesn't… Jinx just sat there for a while, incredibly disappointed with herself. Fuck this place. And so, she left. Not intending to ever return again.
On the way to their destination, Caitlyn and Vi passed by the old bad 'The Last Drop' It was the bar they'd all love back then, but it had turned into… this mess of a place. Vi noticing this grabbed the railing and looked down on it from above.
What have they done to this place… Fucking Silco…
"Well that place does look like it has a few bodies buried in the basement." Caitlyn said
You fucking… this bitch better shut her mouth, she knows jack shit what she's talking about.
"You don't know anything." Vi said back, clearly angry about Caitlyn's remark. Pushing past her as she continued on her way to the place they were supposed to go.
Did that place… mean something to her? Hmm… Caitlyn was unsure.
They'd arrived. Vi knew about this place, a brothel of sorts. Caitlyn however was in for a bit of a surprise. Vi knocked on the door, the symbol on the door identical to the one they'd gotten from Jericho. The hole on the door opened, an eye looking through it at them. Caitlyn was a bit stressed and cleared her throat, not sure how to act. Vi just looked back with a stone cold gaze. The eye behind the door disappeared and started unlocking it for them.
The door opened to a long dim corridor, laughter could be heard inside somewhere.
"The one place all the secrets are spilled." Vi said and started walking inside. Caitlyn not having much of a choice let out a sigh and followed after her.
Walking down the corridor there were a couple of open rooms along the walls. Moans and laughter could be heard from people inside. Caitlyn took a look inside one of them, having a hard time resisting.
She saw two girls, one of them laying on top of the other her mouth on one of the other girls nipples. The one beneath was smoking… something while she enjoyed the sensations.
What… is this place?… "Vi what… is this place exactly?" She asked, looking into another room with a naked woman being bathed by a naked man.
"Hmm? Well a little bit of everything happens here. Not sure what to call it. Maybe it's a kind of… brothel?"
"A… a brothel!? How exactly do you propose we find our information here?" As she asked this a male Yordle walked by in a full suit of latex, humming… something.
"Let 'em think you work here" Vi told her
"Uh what? Excuse me? I will not 'work' here, no thank you." Vi sighed at this.
She's so stiff, holy fuck. "You know what your problem is?"
"Oh go ahead, please, tell me."
"You expect everyone to give you what you want. If you really want people to talk to you, you have to let them think you have what they want. What they need."
"And what… exactly, do I have?" as Caitlyn asked vi had started circling around her, looking her up and down with a smirk on her face. Vi laughed a little.
"What do you have? You're hot, pretty simple." Caitlyn was very surprised at her blatant honesty and lost her balance a little because Vi was so close. Stumbling backwards and colliding with the wall. Vi followed her and put her hand besides her head, continuing her pressure.
Wait no… I'm not ready for… whatever this is. Caitlyn thought to herself.
"So. What'll it be, man or woman?"
"Uuuh…. What?" In the middle of their close and intimate conversation a person walked past behind Vi. She grabbed the persons arm and took their attention.
"Uh, hi!" The person said. "I- I'm Pim. What's your name?"
"Matilda. But you can call her whatever you want." Vi said in a sensual tone, looking towards Caitlyn. Caitlyn not feeling completely ready for this yet took in a deep breath.
"Ah, uh, yes. Matilda. My parents named my Matilda." Vi started walking away, now that she'd given Caitlyn a distraction she could go on with her own business. "After my great-grandmother Matilda, the, uh…" Haha, listen to her… She'll do just fine. Vi thought as she neared the room she was going for.
Vi, reaching the end of a corridor entered a room behind two drapes of thick red cloth. Inside sat an old looking Yordle, writing on a paper. When Vi entered the old lady looked up, shock apparent in her eyes.
"Would you believe it…" She said, not having seen Vi for so long was quite the shock.
"Seraphine… it's good to see you again."
"You too child, you too… What- what happened to you?"
"Oh that's… a long story. But I've made a lot of fuck ups and uh, I've been stuck in prison at the top for a long fucking time."
"I see… Come on, sit down, let's uh, talk a little."
"Sweetheart, I was real sad to hear about Vander back then. And the kids too… Just, terrible." Seraphine told her after they'd made themselves comfortable on the sofa.
"Yeah well by the looks of it, no one down here lifted a finger to stop Silco."
"A few tried Vi, they really did. But Silco's got the muscle… And the money. He took over the last drop the bastard."
"Yeah… I saw."
"Things have changed without Vander looking out for us."
"Have you… have you heard anything about Powder? I think Silco might have her."
"I'm sorry sweetheart. That day… You all disappeared. I thought all of you had died, so no, I haven't gotten any news on Powder for you sadly."
"Fuck… I have to find her."
"Silco's Second hand is a regular here. I can have Miguel tell you about where to find her."
"I owe you." Vi finished, walking out of the room.
"Oh it's nothing child… it's nothing…." She heard Seraphine say faintly after she'd left the room.
On the way out, Vi didn't see Caitlyn anywhere. She heard someone giggling close by and took a peek into on of the rooms. What the fuck? Hah! I didn't expect that of you, good job Caitlyn, good job. Inside the room sat Caitlyn with another girl, chatting about… something, Vi wasn't sure but she could see she was enjoying herself. Vi let Caitlyn have her fun and continued walking, looking for Miguel and info on Silco's second hand. One step closer to finding you Powder, one step.
Jinx was sitting on the roof boards in Silco's office once again when suddenly Marcus, the sheriff entered the office. Marcus? What's that dumb idiot doing here?… Probably looking for Silco huh? Well you'll have to wait because. He. Is. Very. Busy right now. Wasn't even here when I arrived… I wanted to speak with someone after what happened back there at the hideout. Why I've always gotta be alone when I need someone the most… Fucking luck I have huh?
"Sherrif, what a lovely surprise." Oh! Silco's arrived.
"The hextech wonder boy is on the Council now, and he's asking questions already. It's only a matter of time before he finds the truth."
"What is truth but a survivors story…" Said Silco as he reached for something in one of his desk drawers.
"If I'm discovered, we're both finished."
"Good thing you've located proof of the Firelight's involvement then." He said as he placed one of Jinx's self made grenades on the desk." Haha, you're giving him on of my beauties? How kind of you Silco. Marcus took the Grenade from the desk and looked at it for a bit.
"This has gone too far…" he said and stroked his thumb over the pin. Jinx was looking on with interest. Does he really have the balls to do that?… nah no way, nuh uh.
"Hmm? Imagining yourself a hero? One final act to make you the martyr you've always seen yourself as? Marcus looked at the grenade for a couple seconds, apparently considering his options.
"Then what are you waiting for?" Silco asked him, just a little bit of uncertainness in his voice. Marcus let out a puff of air and looked at Silco.
Yup, he's not doing it. Jinx could see it from up there, his body language told her everything. Marcus turned around and left the office.
"Ah, he's faltering. You need to weaponize the Hextech soon Jinx. Once we've cracked their prize, topside will have no power over us."
"I can't do it. Just… Just give it to the doctor."
"You're the only one I can trust with this." Really? The only one?… This made Jinx a little happy. Being so highly regarded by Silco. But also annoyed because she knew she couldn't do it.
"I can't Silco, I… I keep… seeing them. That day. And I, I lose myself to it."
"Fear haunts us all, Jinx."
"It's not… fear…" It's regret, guilt, sadness… Jinx knew she wasn't scared of her past, she was just extremely saddened by it to the point that she couldn't function normally.
"Come, I wanna show you something that helped me when I was in a similar position as you are in now."
"You know something that helps?" Jinx asked, hope in her voice.
"It helped me. If it'll help you, I'm not sure. But we can at least try, right?"
"Yeah… yeah, let's try it, I wanna go now."
