Chapter 4 - Revelations

"What are you doing Silco?" Jinx asked as Silco started walking down into the water.

"Come Jinx, just a little further now." He said back as he continued going further from shore. Jinx felt the water with her fingers for a bit, hesitant about going after him.

"But it's so cold! Do I have to?" Silco stopped and looked back at Jinx, giving her that look that told her to trust him, the one he'd use so many times over the years. Jinx sighed and started following him, hugging her own body as she came in contact with the water, attempting to warm herself.

It was nighttime. The sky was filled with stars and faint sounds of thunder could be heard far, far away. After walking for a bit, the water had made it all the way up to Jinx's hips but she was starting to get used to the cold now. Though being in your clothes while in the water wasn't the most comfortable thing she'd ever done.

Silco stopped all of a sudden, looked up into the air for a bit and took in a deep breath before looking back at Jinx. He took some water in his hands and brought it up as if to show her.

"I almost drowned in these waters…" This again? Jinx thought as he started talking.

"You've told me a million times." Jinx said back.

"Vander wasn't the man you thought he was."

"Right, he was like a brother to you and he turned his back and blah, blah, blah. I've heard this before Silco." Silco was amused by Jinx's ramblings and snickered a little.

"I've got a new one fore you this time." He said, feeling the water with his hands, remembering something. "That day, I let a weak man die." And suddenly he dipped all of himself in the water.

What is he doing? Jinx thought as she looked on, confused. When Silco emerged from the water again he continued. "And another was reborn." Stroking the side of his face that had been so scarred from that day. "Betrayal, the pain that feels like it'll eat you from the inside out, can either break you, or forge you into something greater…" Where is he going with this?…

"You need to let Powder die." Let her die? But I am… Powder… Jinx?

Yes, you're a jinx now. You were a jinx back then. You've always been a jinx Powder. Mylo mentioned from somewhere.

"Let her die, and the fear of pain will no longer control you, Jinx."

"I- I'm not a jinx…" She mumbled quietly. Silco looked at her, concern in his face.

"That's not what I'm saying child… You're not a jinx, you're just… special. And there's nothing wrong with that. But the way you are now. Two personalities in one, it's hurting you, and you know it."

Two personalities? Is that what it is?

"Come, I'll show you how to reveal your true self. You're strong, you just have to see it." He said, reaching out with his hand towards her.

"Silco, I told you I'm not… I'm not scared of what you think. I'm not scared at all really…"

"Then why do you look so unsure my child?…" he said, walking closer to her and taking her hands in his.

Anger, regret, guilt, despair.

"It's… it's a lot of different things…" Silco looked at her intensely. Trying to understand what she was saying.

"I am sure, that with time, wounds will be healed. But, we came out here for a reason no? I believe, that if you believe." He said, holding her cheek with one hand now "Anything is possible." He's right I… I have to try at least. Jinx gave him a nod, now actually feeling fear but not because of the past, but because she was scared of what might happen next.

Silco brought Jinx closer to him, took the hand on her cheek and put it behind her head, guiding her slowly down into the water, submerging her whole body in the process.

It's cold… Jinx heard Claggor whistling in the background.

This is weird, why is he putting you in the water? Mylo asked.

I… Was the last thought going through her mind before she took a deep breath and was completely submerged.

Pow…!

Powde…!

Powder!

Vi?

Never forget who you are! No matter what happens, I'll always love you.

Vi… I'm dying…

Powder…

I can't live in this world anymore Vi… I just… I can't…

You'll never truly die. There will always be a piece left of you no matter what.

Vi… could… would you ever love me as I am now?

You know I can't answer that… I loved you more than anything. And I will always be your sister. We're family.

Then, maybe it's time for me to go to sleep… I need to be strong now, the world has changed since you left Vi… I need to change too.

I understand… I do. We're sisters after all.

Jinx took in a quick deep breath as she was brought back above water and started coughing a little bit.

"Jinx? How do you feel?" Silco asked her, looking deep into her eyes, hopeful for change.

"I'm fine Silco, I'm fine now." Jinx said, smile on her face and a new glint in her eyes. Silco looked ecstatic and gave her a hug.

"Welcome home, Jinx."

Vi had gotten it! She'd heard what she needed to find Sevika. Apparently she was gambling with some lowlifes in a lesser known part of the Lanes. On the way there, Vi felt like everywhere she went people were staring.

Fuck… the Lanes really have changed a lot since back then. Everyone's so fucking paranoid. She thought as she tried to blend in with the crowd.

After walking for about 10 minutes Vi got to her destination. Peeking around the corner she saw Sevika sitting at a table and playing cards with two other unknowns.

There you are you fucking bitch… Just sitting there and enjoying yourself after everything you've done. Vi thought as she clenched her fists, preparing herself for a tough fight.

Vi started rushing towards Sevika, the sound of her footsteps not loud enough to warn Sevika in time.

"Rotten luck boys." Sevika said to the guys she'd just bested in a game of cards before a flying knee connected with the side of her face, throwing her down on the ground. The two other guys stood up in shock, realized this fight was not meant for them, collected some of the coins they'd just lost and ran away as fast as they could.

Fucking stand up bitch. Vi thought as she looked at Sevika letting out a pained sound from the hard hit she'd just received and got up on her feet.

"Vi?" Sevika was stunned for just a second before she realized this was no time for talk. Vi was here to fight and she was fast. Vi landed a right hook to her face almost as soon as the words had left Sevika's mouth. Grabbing her by her hair and pushing her into the wall, face first.

"You filthy fucking traitor." Vi said in her ear.

"Vander had his chance." Suddenly Sevika's arm started moving inhumanly.

What the fuck is—" Something punched back at Vi, making her lose her balance at the unexpected hit she'd just received, allowing Sevika to turn and give her a well planted roundhouse kick to the stomach, throwing her to the ground. Sevika took of her cloak and revealed what was underneath.

What the fuck is that!? Sevika has some kind of fucking shimmer boosted robot arm!? Vi thought as she stood up quickly, throwing her jacket off to allow for some more movement in her shoulders.

"You needed a handicap Sevika? Nice arm." Vi said with a cheeky smile. Sevika just scoffed in response and started moving forward slowly. Vi not one for patience ran at Sevika and threw a punch which was blocked. She then continued her barrage of punches but nothing managed to get through Sevikas guard. One of the punches was dodged and Sevika bent her new arm in an unnatural manner and managed to catch both of Vi's arms between it, squeezing them so hard Vi couldn't get out.

"I see you never learned patience." Sevika said to her in a disappointing tone and without pause gave her a head butt so strong Vi was pushed back and swiftly punched in the stomach by her enhanced robot arm.

Fuck… that arm's fucking dangerous… Vi thought, just before barely dodging the claws at the top of the arm's fingers. Vi not being one to easily give up delivered an upper cut to Sevika's stomach and followed up with a couple punches to her sides and face.

This went on for awhile, punch after punch, trading blows and no one really getting the upper hand. Then it seemed like Sevika had had enough, her arm started glowing that familiar glow of pink/purple that shimmer gives off. Sevika let out a deep low growl, almost like a beast and managed to throw Vi to the wall with her new found power. Pushing her against it and burning her face with the arm. Vi, starting to lose her breath from the choke hold she was in brought up her leg and gave Sevika a swift kick between the legs. Having enough power behind it to hurt her and release Vi. Vi then continued her assault, never taking a break until she managed to get a really good hit in on her head, stunning her and essentially allowing Vi to do anything. Vi charged up and jumped, delivering a jump kick to her stomach with both legs, smashing her through the brittle wall behind her and out onto the streets.

"Where is my sister!?" Vi screamed at her as she approached, stepping on her strong arm, kneeling down and holding her neck down. "Where the fuck is he keeping her!?"

"Keeping her? You mean Jinx?" Sevika let out a quiet laugh, despite the situation.

Jinx? They… they call her Jinx? You motherfuckers… I'm gonna—

"She works for him."

What?… Powder would never… Jinx? Nonono there's no way she wou— In the middle of Vi's thoughts she had accidentally started losing her grip on Sevika's neck and in doing so Sevika got back some of her power being able to breath properly again. And that's when she was stabbed in the side of her stomach by Sevka's arm.

"She's like his daughter." Sevika said.

No… Powder's dad Is… was Vander… Sevika pushed Vi off herself and got to her feet. Vi too hurt from the stab wound in her stomach didn't have the power left to get to her own two feet. Sevika slowly walked around her, took her face in her human hand and started preparing her robotic arm for the kill.

"I'll give her your regards."

Powder… Sorry. I couldn't make it to you after all… *BANG* a shot rang out. Looking up at Sevika she could see her arm had been shot. What is— Sevika looked at where the shot had come from, gave out an angry growl and started running away. Clearly outmatched by the range of the gun.

Sevika managed to escape into an alleyway after getting hit by 3 shots in the back, two of them blocked by her armored shoulder, the other hitting her in the back somewhere.

Caitlyn? Huh… The one who had saved Vi was Caitlyn.

"Looking pretty rough there Vi."

"She got away…"

"That she did, didn't manage to get a good shot on her."

"Silco's gonna know we're here now, shit."

"Yeah maybe you should've thought about that before picking a fight with one of his."

Vi looked at Caitlyn and gave her a shrug, admitting her mistake. Vi was bleeding heavily, still clutching her side from the stab wound.

"Nice shot by the way."

"Nice? That was a perfect shot." This got Vi to laugh just a little.

Fuck… what do I do now? Is Powder really working for him? No… Sevika probably just wanted to throw me off guard. Which she managed beautifully at that.

"You okay there Vi?"

"Hmm? Ah well, not really I guess, got stabbed." Caitlyn reached out with her hand letting Vi take it and helping her back to her feet. Vi had to lean on Caitlyn heavily to be able to walk.

"I saw what happened back there by the way." Vi chuckled as they left the scene.

"What do you mean?" Vi just looked at her with a knowing smirk until Caitlyn got it. "OH! You… you saw?" Vi gave her a nod, which made Caitlyn blush furiously and shutting up.

"Hahaha! Ouch… You're just too cute…" Laughing was not a smart idea with a stomach wound apparently. Powder… where are you?

Back at the Last Drop things were quiet. Everyone had left to go do something. Even the guards out front weren't there at the moment. Silco had left her ealier in the day after they'd come back from the river to 'go do something important'.

Hmm? Where is everyone? Jinx thought as she approached from afar. Jinx had just managed to get a more stable version of her machine working together with the blue crystal and wanted to tell Silco about it right away. But no one being there was highly unusual. Especially since she haven't heard anything about it.

Oh well, let's go inside and find out I guess…

What, old man finally left you? Mylo said

Silco? Naah, he wouldn't leave me. Jinx was pretty sure that wasn't it, not after all this time. When she looked inside the window of the front door she saw someone at the bar counter. Deciding to be a bit mischievous she opened the door and slid into the shadows, the man behind the bar didn't see her until she sat down and spoke up.

"Chuck!" She greeted him with a cheery voice. Scaring him and making him drop the mug he was cleaning to the ground.

"Thieram. Uh… my name's Thieram."

"Nice try, Chuck but you can't fool me!" She said, tapping the bar counter, indicating that she wanted a drink. Jinx laughed a little at her own silliness.

"What's all the hubbub about anyway?"

"Uh, Boss wants us to grab someone up apparently."

"Someone? Anyone? Who are you grabbing?"

"Oh you know, just some girls. I mean— I mean not… I'm not grabbing girls. Oh, other than the… those ones… I guess." Thieram answered Jinx, a bit freaked out by her intense and judgmental glare.

"Focus. Who are they? Why wasn't I invited to the party?" She dropped the blue crystal down into her drink.

"Uh, I don't know. They… they got in a fight with Sevika. They did a number on her."

Someone fought Sevika and managed to kick her ass? Hmm…

"Oh really? Which number?" She asked, playing stupid. Thieram was to freaked out to realize she was playing with him all this time.

"It's like a saying… you know?"

Aw this guy's so cute… Let's freak him out a little. Jinx threw herself at him, giving him a hug and attaching one of her decoy grenades on his back.

"You're doing great Chuck!" Releasing him from her hug "here, for your troubles." She said, and started walking away from the counter with her drink. On the way to Silco's office she could hear Thieram freak out all of a sudden and heard a small *poof* sound which was followed by a long stressful sigh from Thieram. Jinx looking back at him gave him a smirk and winked at him, now covered with pink paint on his back left by the grenade she'd planted on him and continued up the stairs to the office.

Oh little Chukie Chuck, you need to learn how to handle women. She sighed. Alright, let's… let's wait for someone to come back I guess. They can't be away for that long can they? I better set up some traps just in case… I… I trust Silco but he's never done anything like this before. So Jinx began setting some traps for the first person who would arrive.

A while later when she was in the middle of reading one of Silco's reports she heard the door open behind her. The one entering the room not seeing her because of the long back of the chair she was sitting on.

Finally someone comes! Was getting bored here.

"We lost her." Jinx turned around in her chair. Sevika huh? Wow that person really did a number on you…

"Lost who?" Jinx asked with a frown on her face. Sevika knew she would get nowhere in this conversation so she growled a little out frustration and walked towards Jinx. However, one of the traps Jinx had set earlier was triggered when Sevika pushed on a tripwire with her feet, making a green gas spread around the room. Jinx put on a gas mask instantly and Sevika started coughing, already feeling weak. She tried her absolute best at reaching Jinx and removing the mask from her face but the gas made quick work of her, she passed out on the desk just a few centimeters in front of where Jinx was sitting, watching it all happen.

Alright… Let's tie her up, I can't beat her in a fight… probably.

Coward Mylo said "No, I'm smart, shitface." She replied. Looking at her shoulder she noticed the place she'd usually have her shimmer container at was empty. Hmm… Let's shut this thing off she thought and pushed one of her blades down the hole.

She's still not awake? That fucking gas did it's work… Jinx had had enough though, no time to wait. So she slapped her. Hard, and Sevika woke up, tied to the chair. Jinx took a deep breath and prepared to speak, looking at Sevika, amused at her situation and how helpless she was now compared to usual.

"I feel like you and I got off on the wrong… arm." Jinx said, taking out the blade buried in the slot on her shoulder. "Maybe we should try the other" She continued, smiling wickedly as she trailed the blade along her chest to the other shoulder. Sevika chuckled at her attempt to scare her.

"No need. It's your sister." Everything stopped.

My… my sister, Vi? But, she's dead… Yeah she's lying the bitch, using my sister as a fucking threat!

"She's back. She's looking for you."

She's looking for me? She's looking for me! I knew she'd never give up on me!

"It's not what you think."

It's not?

"She's with some girl from top side. Guess she replaced you."

No, she would never replace me.

Are you sure about that? Milo asked

Yes! She would… She would never!

"You're lying!" Jinx shouted at Sevika as she thrust her dagger into the back of the chair, just missing Sevika's head. Sevika chuckled at her outburst.

"Why bother lying. With her back in town, it's only a matter of time before you implode on yourself and Silco finally gets the fucking message. You're about as good for our cause as you were for you're family. Jinx." Jinx slashed at Sevikas face with the dagger, drawing blood from her cheek.

"You better be careful what you say in your situation Sevika. You're right about one thing, I'm crazy. But my sister would never abandon me for someone else… She wouldn't."

"Believe whatever you want. In the end, you know I'm right." A pause in the conversation.

"You're good at this, Haha! I'll have to up my game for next time." Jinx finally said, smiling wide but admitting defeat in this verbal battle. "But I think I know just how to deliver that message…" Jinx started spinning her chair around and laughed at her, drawing symbols all over her with her crayons as she spun around. When the chair finally stopped spinning Sevika was incredibly dizzy. So much in fact that she didn't even notice how Jinx took out her gun and smashed her in the forehead with the handle, knocking her out cold. The last touch to her masterpiece was typing 'liar' and 'traitor' all over Sevikas body.

Vi… are you really back? Have you finally come back after all these years? I've missed you… Looking down on her left hip she looked at what Vi had given her all those years ago… 'Wherever you are, light it up and I'll find you' she could hear Vi say. The old flare she'd given her in case of an emergency, so she could find her, wherever she was...

Did you know I took these tattoos for you Vi? All these small blue clouds of smoke…

If you're really alive Vi… I'll use it, I'll use it after all these years.

She's not alive Jinx, she's dead, like all of us. You made sure of that. Mylo said. Jinx not having the will to fight back right now didn't respond to him.

I… I need a plan, if I'm gonna use it. I need to be high up so… so she can see it from wherever she is! Yes… map… map… This one! Hmm… here? No… here? That just might work. I'll have to go there and check it out.

"Alright Sevika, I think you'd make a pretty good chandelier." Jinx started on her plan. She suspended Sevika in the air with a bunch of easily triggered grenades around her, so if she would attempt to get down herself she'd die pretty fast from the ensuing explosion.

So he betrayed me huh… after taking care of me for all these years you fucking betray me. Jinx took one of her crayons and wrote out 'Fuck you Silco' on his chair and used her knife to strike out his name. She stabbed her knife in the map and made it point towards Sevika and drawed an arrow pointing along the knife.

Fuck you. Fuck everyone. She thought before leaving his office and making her way to the highest point in the Lanes.
