-Chapter-26-
-Rachel pov-
I am out of school to help Peggy. Judy is currently with me too. Joe had a bad fall today and the twins are busy. They are currently at an important therapy session.
Peggy called and asked us to be with her. Joe is in the hospital while Judy gets the updates. I am just helping clean up and cook for her. I can feel her eyes on me and feel a question in her mind.
"You know you can ask anything" I turn and look at her with a small smile "I am a open book Grandma Peggy"
"He has been adamant on me finding someone" She sighs and slides a phone toward me "I have been talking to this person...they are supposed to meet me at a karaoke thing tonight but I may just cancel"
"He wants to know you will be fine" I look at the messages and back at her "Do they make you happy?"
"They have made both of us laugh" She smiles brightly "I talk to them so much"
"Well I think you know what you should do" She looks down and I slide the phone back over "How about we go and I help?"
"That would be nice" She looks up at me again "You could even bring the girls and Judy could bring Emma...but what if something happens?"
"Well that is no longer your problem" Judy walks in with a paper "I went back to the room and Dad has left for a facility to make sure you are fine...he left these in his bed"
"Divorce papers" Peggy sighs and walks out of the kitchen "I need some time...I guess I am going tonight"
We watch her sadly walk away "This is going to be a long night" Judy nods and I look back at the phone "She will be happy I believe"
"Let's make sure their schedules are free" I nod and pull out my phone "She will need all of us there"
-Time skip-Peggy singing-
Na na na na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na na na na
I guess I just lost my husband,
I don't know where he went,
So I'm gonna drink my money,
I'm not gonna pay his rent (nope),
I got a brand new attitude and
I'm gonna wear it tonight,
I wanna get in trouble,
I wanna start a fight,
Na na na na na na na I wanna start a fight,
Na na na na na na na I wanna start a fight.
So, so what
I'm still a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't need you,
And guess what,
I'm having more fun,
And now that we're done,
I'm gonna show you tonight,
I'm alright,
I'm just fine,
And you're a tool,
So, so what,
I am a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't want you tonight.
(Uh check my flow, aw)
The waiter just took my table,
And gave it to Jessica Simps (shit!),
I guess I'll go sit with drum boy,
At least he'll know how to hit (oops!)
What if this song's on the radio,
Then somebody's gonna die,
I'm gonna get in trouble,
My ex will start a fight,
Na na na na na na na he's gonna start a fight,
Na na na na na na na we're all gonna get in a fight!
So, so what
I'm still a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't need you,
And guess what,
I'm having more fun,
And now that we're done,
I'm gonna show you tonight,
I'm alright,
I'm just fine,
And you're a tool,
So, so what,
I am a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't want you tonight
You weren't there,
You never were,
You want it all,
But that's not fair,
I gave you life,
I gave my all,
You weren't there,
You let me fall.
So, so what
I'm still a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't need you,
And guess what,
I'm having more fun,
And now that we're done,
I'm gonna show you tonight,
I'm alright,
I'm just fine,
And you're a tool,
So, so what,
I am a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't want you tonight
No, no, no, no
I don't want you tonight,
You weren't there,
I'm gonna show you tonight,
I'm alright,
I'm just fine,
And you're a tool,
So, so what,
I am a rock star,
I got my rock moves,
And I don't want you tonight!
Ba da da da da da
"So I think she is taking it very well" Everyone raises a eyebrow at me and I sigh "Yeah I know she is so messed up right now"
"I do not know" We all turn and see a blonde, tall woman standing behind us "Uh hi I am Holly Holiday! I am looking for the Carmichael party...I assume this big group is that?"
"Uh yeah" Judy stands up probably showing how visibly confused we all are "You Uh..you are very young"
"Well yeah" Holly look at all of us and then Judy "Are you Peggy?"
"N-no that is me" Peggy walks over but does not look up "I Uh..well I...I am sorry that I lied to you about my age! I just mean...who would want a old coot like me? You can go now that you have seen me"
"Well I mean you are what? Forty-seven at most?" Peggy looks up confused and I can see that Holly is genuine on her answer "Really? Which one of the students is yours?"
"Uh actually I am" Judy steps to beside Peggy "I am her daughter and two students are her grandkids"
"Yo-you are joking right?" We all shake our heads and Holly looks completely blown away "Wow ok! I Uh need to know what all you use on your skin"
"Well nothing major" Peggy blushes and looks down bashfully "Just some ointments and a few masks"
"Holly how about you go sing!" I stand and nod toward the stage "Peggy loves a good song!"
"Alright!" Holly sits down her stuff and walks away "I will put my all into this!"
She goes and we look at Peggy "What?" We all smirk and she blushes more "What?!"
"She is beautiful and totally likes you!" Peggy looks away and we all laugh "You got a good girl"
-Holly singing-
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
Ah
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high
Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
I can hear them say
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more
Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man
Well, it surely means that I don't know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about, I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more no!
Carry on
You will always remember
Carry on
Nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you
Carry on my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry
Don't you cry no more
No more!
"Alright she is a great pick" Peggy nods with her jaw still dropped "I think things around here just got a little more interesting"
"Most definitely" Fran lays her head on my shoulder "I just hope I never hear any of it"
We all laugh as Holly makes her way back. When she comes we just have light conversations. She meshes in with us very well. I think Joe would be happy to know what happened.
I just hope Peggy is happy too.
