Chapter 5: Home

'It was later in the day now; everyone was in the room with me. Mom was sitting in the chair to my left, in the chair next to her was Max, Dad was in a chair on the other side of the room, and Justin was pacing back and forth. There was complete silence in the room besides the tv going, Justin s... sit down... you're making... me dizzy, I'm sorry I just... don't know what to do? So, g... go home- What no way?! it's... o... kay. Your sister is right honey you haven't slept in day, and you slept for an hour this morning. I'll be fine I can go without a little sleep, you... dummy! Lis...ten to... Mom.

Alex listen I'm not going home, I just can't be alone right now. Jus...tin pl...ease, why are you so Eager for me to leave, I'm not... I'm just... tired. 'It's true I am really tired; I feel my eyes wanting to close so bad, I'm trying to get Justin to get some sleep also, he looks tired; but of course, he doesn't want to listen to me. Justin go! Dad? Look you and your Mother both need a break; Max and I will stay and look after Alex. 'Justin Sighing' all right I'll go, see you tomorrow Alex.

I lifted up my left arm to wave goodbye to Mom and Justin. Did you need anything? 'Dad asks' I shake my head no and hope I don't have too pee again anytime soon. I lay my head back on my pillow and go to sleep.

The Next Day...

What's happening? where am I, wait I'm in the alley, No, no, no! Please don't let me go please, no get off stop. 'Alex wakes up crying' Alex, Alex, hey its OK. 'Alex breathing heavily and panicking' Hey, hey look at me breath, Alex, its OK! Its Dad; look at me. 'Jerry tries his best to calm Alex down; he grabs her arms very gently and Alex starts to flail around and panic before finally stopping.

Alex finally calms down after a few minutes. 'Jerry and Max stay close to Alex, Max is still young and doesn't really understand what's going on, he knows that his sister was hurt but other than that; Max doesn't know what to do, but one thing Max does know he feels horrible seeing his sister like this, but what's he going to do he's a 13-year-old kid. Yeah, Alex might be mean to him and pull pranks but she is still his sister.

A knock on the door gets attention of the three, Jerry opens the door and sees that it is Alex's nurse, hey come on in- thank you. Hey I came to check on Alex and see how she is doing. 'The Nurse walks over to Alex and starts to talk; hey Alex, how much pain would you say you are in today from 1 to 10. '100 Alex remarks to the nurse- OK here's what I can do, I can give you some pain pills and those should help you sleep.

No...! No...! I don't want to sleep p... please. Alex you have to sleep so your body can heal! 'Alex shakes her head franticly not wanting to sleep at all; not wanting to go back to that alley every time she closes her eyes. Alex its OK I won't force you into anything it's your choice.

1 Week Later...

'The nurse comes to Alex's room and tells everyone that Alex is good to go. Alex has been healing well this past week she's all good to go. Really! That's great! Alex are you happy to me going home? 'Max asks, yeah Maxie, I am- what's the first thing you're going to do when you get home? Take a shower, a looong shower. 'Alex has gotten better the past week but she still as a lot of healing to do both physically and mentally.

'I'm happy to be going home, and my voice was better which means I can talk again, though it still hurts when I swallow and If I talk for too long. Mom helped me get up and start getting ready to leave. No one knew when I was being released so Mom brought some of my clothes from home to have when I got out. As for the rest of my body.

My arm was still in bad shape but I could at least stand on my own now, my body still hurt like hell; and the knife wound was the worst pain I've felt in a long time. But the actual worst pain on my body was coming from "The Down Below Area" it was unbearable, but the worst part is having to also deal with my Period on top of that.

After I was done getting dressed, I told Mom that I was ready to go, and so we left, I made sure to put my hood up so no one could see my face, we got up to the front desk to check out; after that we headed outside, let's just say it felt really good to be outside again the weather was really nice and it was warm.

I never thought I would be happy to see that rust bucket of a car its old and smells like someone's Grandma! But it's a car. Everyone piled in Mom, and Dad, sat in the front, Justin, Max and I all sat in the back, I got to sit at the end while Max had to squeeze in between me and Justin, Dad was driving because Mom didn't want to.

Anyways we finally made it home, Dad and Justin took care of putting the car away, while Mom, Max, and I went upstairs; man, I never thought I would be so happy to see these orange couches, well happy on the outside, but even that wouldn't last long.
