So I wanted to write two different stories: first about Kate meeting the Avengers, and second some sort of hurt/comfort fanfic about Kate getting injured and Clint being worried. But I am lazy and not the best writer so I decided to just combine the two and write one story with multiple chapters.

Black Widow is my favorite original Avenger and I think that she and Kate Bishop would have great chemistry. I really don't know how but is taking place in some alternate universe where Natasha survives Endgame. I understand that it's a weird concept but I want to write a story where the two of Clint's partners meet.

Natasha must say that meeting Kate Bishop, her partners protégé, was a real pleasure. What wasn't a pleasure was holding the barely conscious young girl as her body went limp in her arms.

How can something like this happen? One moment Natasha was fighting side by side with Kate, in a way trusting her to watch her back. And the very next second Kate was bleeding, her breathing labored, and her eyes wide from pain. And you know what the worst part was? She couldn't even get mad at the person who was responsible, because she didn't know who to blame. Natasha was an Avenger for gods sake! However no kind of revenge, not even a sarcastic comment, crossed her mind. What Natasha learned was that even the world's greatest archer can miss his target.

[ Earlier that day ]

The mission started simple enough. Natasha was send to Germany, together with team Hawkeye, to once and for all end an organized crime group which was reported to be responsible for over a dozen brutal murders during the year. It wasn't supposedto be anything complicated, but were they in for a surprise. "Just beat the shit out of some thugs and scare them a little with the whole Avengers thing", Kate said on the ride on the plane ride to Hamburg. Clint, who was piloting the jet, just smiled at the confidence of his partner. "I like the way you think kid, that is exactly the way me and your mentor over there thought about easy missions", Natasha commented while pointing at Clint.

"I am glad two hit it off, but do not underestimate these guys", he said while kinda being disappointed to kill all the fun. He was proud of Kate for not letting Nat intimidate her. Because she can be outright scary when she wants to, even to him. "Fury didn't send a double Avenger combination on this mission for no reasons."

Natasha rolled her eyes on his comment, even tho she was always careful on missions, she was pretty sure Fury assigned them on this one so she and Kate can meet. Plus Fury probably wants to see Kate in action on something simpler before she tackles any avengers levels threats. He sure is killing two birds with one stone with this mission.

Clint sighed from the front seat, "Only because I can't see you Nat, doesn't mean that I don't know you are rolling your eyes at me. And you two need to take this a bit more seriously. I know you can both take care of yourself but we could save a lot of lives by putting an end to this rain of terror." Natasha knew that Clint was right, even tho she would never admit it. They were partners for years and in that much time their roles, of being responsible on missions, reversed. When they first started Natasha was the focused one, always calculating every little move and never relaxing. But she started trusting Clint with her life, that is something that she has never done before. His goofiness grew on her, and while she was becoming more relaxed and confident Clint had to fill her role as the team's serious member. "Just don't worry Clint, I know you are used to working with reckless teenagers by now but we got this."

Meanwhile Kate was just laying on the couch on the back listening as the conversation unfolds. She should probably be insulted by being called 'a reckless teenager', but this is The Black Widow we are talking about. Kate really wanted to impress her and show that she is worthy of watching Clint's back while Nat is not there. She and Clint were Kate's heroes. The superhero duo saving lives all over the world with no super powers, just their skills and each other. But Nat's scary image as the black widow assassin really wasn't the whole truth. When she met her earlier that morning they shook hand, and she introduced herself as Natasha Romanoff, as if Kate didn't already know that. She was meeting this badass woman who saved the world in the same way you would usually meet your new roommate. Kate was really glad that Natasha let her guard down with her because under all those layers there was a chill woman with a great sense of humor.

When she stopped her daydreaming session the two Avengers were still having a childish back and forth. This wasn't a fight or an argument, the only way Kate could describe how the two of them talked is that it sounded like a little kid arguing with their sibling. They pretty much had the same opinion but they enjoyed annoying each other, even tho both had a smile on their face.

"Nat I know we got this for sure, but what I know even more is that you will enjoy beating those guys up", Clint said with a huge grin on his face.

"I really don't know what do you have against the way I relax. It has a kind of a therapeutic effect on me and you know it", Nat said it as it was obvious

"I am not asking for much Tasha, I just want you to stop behaving like a child. You are a terrible role model for Kate". Clint was absolutely certain that both of them are rolling their eyes at him, but for different reasons. Kate because she thinks that she is an adult who can make her own decisions, she does not yet realize how immature she is. And Natasha just doesn't think that she can be a positive role model, she only sees herself as a cold blood assassin. Her past still haunts her and she still can't see how much positive impact she had left on the world.

Natasha knew the were going to land soon so she started her routine. She prepared by loading and cleaning her many guns and weapons. All of her equipment must be in top condition before missions, she is a pro after all. But every few minutes she would sneak a look at Kate. In her oversized hoodie and a pair of shorts she looked like a normal New York kid. If it wasn't of the various cuts and bruises all over her face and legs and the bow and quiver over her shoulders you could really loose her in a crowd of collage students.

The Black Widow thought how Kate chose this dangerous life as a vigilante. She chooses to put her life on the line every day to save others. Natasha does the same thing, but with one big difference. Kate has a choice, she has always had so many other options. While Natasha's whole life was about hurting people until she met Clint. And then she needed to redeem herself. To prove to everybody that she can make a difference, to prove to herself that she controls her life.

Natasha loved the way Clint was talking about Kate, he was so protective of his protégé and was ready to put so much trust into her. Before she and Kate have even met, Nat and Clint have had many conversations about the young archer. Clint always said how proud he was of her skills but also of her confidence and stubbornness in the heat of battle. How she always made the right decisions during fights, and how whenever she gets knocked down she always gets back up. Clint told his best friend that she can trust Kate with her life and also to try not to scare her, because she can sometimes be intimidating, especially to new people she meets.

Just as those thoughts crossed Nat's mind Clint was preparing to land the jet on the private airport.

"Come on girls, let's get going!", Clint yelled while turning the jet engine off.

"We are coming!", Natasha snapped back, her tone half annoyed and half excited to finally get this started and over with.

Meanwhile Kate was still laying on the sofa, playing with one of her arrows, probably not hearing or listening to Clint. Natasha really hoped that it was a regular arrow and not of the explosive ones. She was rolling and turning the arrow around her fingers in a synchronized rhythm. Her head and foot were tapping in the same fast rhythm, as if there was a song stuck in her head. Clint talked about how she had untreated ADHD and it sure is showing now.

Nat ignored her first instinct to yell at her to get up because she knew that Kate is not a soldier and shouldn't be scared of her. This is something only Clint knows about but Natasha has a fear of kids being scared of her. She doesn't know why, but even tho Kate isn't a kid anymore she young and innocent enough to not understand everything in grim world of adults.

She gently tapped Kate's shoulder, "Let's go kid, we don't have the entire day."

The archer shot up from the couch fast as lightning. She just nodded to Nat. Her face showing some embarrassment, but above all excitement.

I really hope you enjoyed this chapter. I know the chapter is mostly dialogue, but I needed this emotion based chapter to set up the action in the next one. Also hope that the POV jumping wasn't confusing.
Hope you will take the time to leave a comments. I am really looking forward to all of your suggestions
