-Chapter 50-

-Rachel pov-

Every high always has a low. Prom was great and so was after prom. But like I said every high always has a low. That low came in the passing of Jean Sylvester.

Jean died during the night and Sue told us the next day. The funeral is later today. She told us to do our tryouts and honestly we are a bit out of it. She is judging us though as we have to give it our all.

SANTANA

He left no time to regret

Kept his lips wet

With his same old safe bet

Me and my head high

And my tears dry

Get on without my guy

You went back to what you knew

So far removed from all that we went through

And I tread a troubled track

My odds are stacked

I'll go back to black

We only said good-bye with words

I died a hundred times

You go back to her

And I go back to...

I go back to us

I loved you much

It's not enough

You love blow and I love puff

And life is like a pipe

And I'm a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside

We only said goodbye with words

I died a hundred times

You go back to her

And I go back to

We only said goodbye with words

I died a hundred times

You go back to her

And I go back to

Black, black, black, black, black, black, black

I go back to

I go back to

We only said good-bye with words

I died a hundred times

You go back to her

And I go back to

We only said good-bye with words

I died a hundred times

You go back to her

And I go back to black

"That was good but maybe not good enough" Santana frowns and walks back to backstage "Next!"

[KURT]

Some people can get a thrill

Knitting sweaters and sitting still

That's okay for some people

Who don't know they're alive

Some people can thrive and bloom

Living life in the living room

That's perfect for some people

Of one hundred and five

But I at least gotta try

When I think of all the sights that I gotta see

And all the places I gotta play

All the things that I gotta be at

Come on, papa, what do you say?

Some people can be content

Playing bingo and paying rent

That's peachy for some people

For some hum-drum people to be

But some people ain't me

I had a dream

A wonderful dream, papa

All about June in the Orpheum circuit

Gimme a chance and I know I can work it

I had a dream

Just as real as can be, papa

There I was in Mr. Orpheum's office

And he was saying to me

"Rose, get yourselves some new orchestrations

New routines and red velvet curtains

Get a feathered hat for the baby

Photographs in front of the theatre

Get an agent and in jig time

You'll be being booked in the big time"

Oh, what a dream

A wonderful dream, papa

And all that I need is eighty-eight bucks, papa

That's what he said, papa

Only eighty-eight bucks

Goodbye to blueberry pie

Good riddance to all the socials I had to go to

All the lodges I had to play

All the shriners I said hello to

Hey, L.A., I'm comin' your way

Some people sit on their butts

Got the dream, yeah, but not the guts

That's living for some people

For some hum-drum people I suppose

Well, they can stay and rot

But not Rose

"That was the same" Kurt frowns and comes back to us "Next up! Bring something!"

"Sue please" Sue sighs and mom looks at Mercedes as she walks out "You all have been great! Please give it your best"

(Lyrics from genius)

[MERCEDES]

Oh, she may get weary

Them young girls, they do get weary

Wearing that same old shaggy dress, yeah

But when she gets weary

Try a little tenderness

Oh-may may mmm

You know she's waiting

Just anticipating

The thing that you'll never never never never possess, yeah yeah

But while she's waiting, and without them

Try a little tenderness (that's all you gotta do)

It's not just sentimental, no no no

She has her grief and care, yeah yeah yeah

But the soft words they are spoke so gentle, yeah yeah

It makes it easier, easier to bear, yeah yeah yeah

You won't regret it, no

Young girls, they don't forget it

Love is their whole happiness, yeah yeah yeah yeah

But it's all so easy

All you gotta do is try

Try a little tenderness, yeah

All you gotta do is man, hold her where you want her

Squeeze her, don't tease her, never leave her

Get to her, got to try

Try a little tenderness, ooh yeah

You got to know how to love her, man

Get to her

You've got to

Squeeze her, don't tease her, never leave

You've got to hold her and rub her softly

Try a little tenderness, yeah yeah

You've got to rub against her, man

Get to her

Don't bruise her, no no

Please her, don't leave her, squeeze her

Oh yeah nah nah nah try

Try a little tenderness, oh yeah yeah, squeeze her

Don't tease her, never leave her, try try try yeah

Tenderness oh yeah, you've got to, you've got to yeah yeah

Rub her gentle man, don't bruise her no no

You've got to love her, tease her, squeeze her yeah

Try a little tenderness

Sue stays silent and mom claps for her. Mercedes comes back and I take a deep breath. I guess I am up now. I walk out with my song ready.

[RACHEL]

Oh my man, I love him so

He'll never know

All my life is just despair

But I don't care

When he takes me in his arms

The world is bright

All right

What's the difference if I say

I'll go away

When I know I'll come back

On my knees someday

For whatever my man is

I am his, forevermore

Oh my man I love him so

He'll never know

All my life is just despair

But I don't care

When he takes me in his arms

The world is bright

All right!

What's the difference if I say

I'll go away

When I know I'll come back

On my knees someday

For whatever my man is

I am his forevermore!

"I am sorry" Sue sighs and stands up "I should not have been judging today"

"It is alright Sue" Mom stands up and puts a arm around her "We are a family and you are not alone"

"I think we all did not do our best" Kurt walks out with the club "How about instead we do a duet and a group number? Two created ones made by our best minds!"

"That works" I look up at mom and sue "How about it?"

"That sounds great" Sue smiles before frowning "We have to go now"

We all nod and head off the stage.

[KURT]

Come with me, and you'll be

In a world of pure imagination

[FINN]

Take a look, and you'll see

Into your imagination

[TINA]

We'll begin with a spin

Traveling in the world of my creation

[ARTIE]

What we'll see will defy explanation

[TINA & NEW DIRECTIONS]

If you want to view paradise

Simply look around and view it

Anything you want to, do it

Want to change the world?

There's nothing to it

[KURT]

There is no life I know

To compare with pure imagination

[FINN]

Living there, you'll be free

If you truly wish to be

[KURT & NEW DIRECTIONS]

If you want to view paradise

Simply look around and view it

Anything you want to, do it

Want to change the world?

There's nothing to it

[TINA]

There is no life I know

To compare with pure imagination

[KURT]

Living there, you'll be free

If you truly wish to be

"Thank you Trouble tones" We step aside as Sue stands at the podium "I have practiced this the past few nights...trying to perfect it and not cry but I just can not...my sister was my world and the world was brighter with her in it..it will be dark but I know there is a light of hope at the end! I know I will see her again and until then Jean...I love you and I will miss you"

She breaks down sobbing snd we give her a big hug. Jean will be missed but live on through memories. We all met her doing a nursing home sing through. She was so kind.

Everything will get better over time I know. We all know that it will. But loss hurts and takes time to heal. We all will help sue through that time.

It's what family is for.
