Deep within the Kokiri Forest, surrounding the Lost Woods, there were two small boys. One boy was busy at work behind a shrub in the Lost Woods while the other one stood watch, his eyes darting around in fear.
"Come on, Mido!" bid the fearful boy whose mouth was in the shape of a frog. He was dressed all in green for camouflage—a green tunic and a green cap which covered his blue eyes. Just like his eyes, his hair, which was sandy-blonde partialy shaved, was hard to see under his cap. "The Skull Kids come out every sunrise and sunset. And it's almost sunset! If we're not careful, they'll turn us into Skull Kids, too."
Something floated closely to the boy. It danced in the air, flashing yellow. It appeared to be a fairy.
"I have to work on this, Redo!" the other boy said, his blue, uncovered eyes full of fear. His hand reached up to fix his brown-ish, blond-ish hair as he continued, his own fairy flashing red. "There's tons of monsters in the forest."
"You're afraid," Redo looked at Mido with narrowed eyes.
"No, I'm not!" Mido retorted.
Redo could not deny that he was scared too, but he tried to put on a smirk and pretend otherwise. "The only reason you're doing this is for her, is it not?""
Despite how he was teasing Mido, there was a hint of anger in the way he said it. Luckily, it went unnoticed by Mido, who had on a flustered face.
"I, I don't know what you're talking about!"
"And why am I standing guard? You could've picked anyone to watch for you, but you chose me!"" Redo complained, and rightfully so.
"Because if anybody wanders in, you could just make an excuse and lead them away." Mido said with a small grunt. "You are a Know-it-All Brother, after all. I don't know why you are a 'tiplet'."
"It's 'triplet'." Redo corrected him. "And the Great Deku Tree decided that, not me. Besides, you shouldn't change the subject. You know about the deal we made!"
Mido raised an eyebrow at him and Redo took that as a hint to remind him of it.
"You get to act all tough up and 'rough up' anyone you want and I'll speak for you and improve your image. I, in turn, don't get anymore chores or guard duty."
"Yup. You're my lackey." Mido shrugged.
"I refuse to be called 'lackey'." Redo seemed rather offended. "You're the 'tough guy'. I'm the 'brains'."
"Well, I know something we're not."
"What?" Redo asked with a rather confused face. "What is it?"
Mido let out a small tch before spitting the word into Redo's face. "FRIENDS!"
"Ha!" Redo laughed. "I already knew that one! I'm very aware of it."
"Well, I'm glad."
Mido rolled his eyes with a rather annoyed face when a howl was heard. Both of their faces turned pale when they recognized that howl.
"Wolfos!" Redo yelled and Milo told him to run as he quickly put the thing he was working on under his hat. The two boys ran out of the Lost Woods as soon as possible by taking a wrong turn.

Where the maze leading to the Forest Temple lay, another boy was carrying a plate of raw, fresh fish which he was feeding to the Wolfos. His appearance was quite similar to Redo with his blue eyes, green clothes, brown-ish, blond-ish hair and his fairy, which also flashed yellow. The only difference was how long his hair was, which was shoulder-length.
"Here you are, Wolfy!" he said as he presented it to the monster. Upon seeing how it was enjoying its meal, he put his hands on his hips and chuckled. "Now, I can gather herbs in peace!"
Just then, a strong gust of wind blew by, catching his attention. He put a finger to his lips then to the wind, and his eyes widened when he realized something.
"The winds are changing! I have to tell Saria!"

Now that they had gotten out of the Lost Woods, Mido and Redo immediately headed to Kokiri Forest which had several tree houses. Some houses had ladders, as well as bridges on top of the roofs and sunroofs. Redo's house was right next to the entrance to the Lost Woods, so the moment they just got out of it, Mido pointed to it and ordered Redo with a stern voice.
"Go home."
"Gladly." Redo let out a hmph and proceeded to go inside. But just as Redo turned to leave, he heard laughter behind him, which made him turn his head around. "What is it?"
"Th-This thing is on me! Help!" Mido tried to speak while laughing uncontrollably. "It's in my pocket!"
Redo just stared at him and soon began laughing at the sight before him. Seeing that Redo wouldn't help, Mido took the matter into his own hand and managed to grab that something out of his pocket."
Gotcha!"
"Oh, finally!" Said a man the size of a thumb in tattered clothes.
Mido squinted at him. "What are you?"
"I'm, I'm a Minish! My name is Festari."
"What's a Minish?" Redo raised an eyebrow as he leaned forward to inspect Festari more closely.
Festari began to explain everything as the other two listened to his story, seemingly intrigued. At the end of it, he clasped his hands together as he begged.
"But Link is too old to see the Minish, so we're asking—No, begging you to be our translators!"
"Link can handle hims-" Mido was interrupted by Festari before he could finish his sentence.
"And who are you young men for that matter?"
"I'm Mido." Mido pointed to himself then to Redo. "And this is Redo."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, and—" Festari looked around "—excuse me, but what are those lights floating around you?"
Mido looked towards his fairy. "Oh, her? This is Rosita. She's my fairy."
"And this is Fee, my fairy," said Redo. "Every Kokiri has one."
Festari looked at the faries and tapped his chin. "Does Link have a fairy? Because I don't remember him having one."
"He used to," Mido spoke. "Navi. But she went away. Now, he's once again a fairy-less weirdo."
Redo pointed a thumb to Mido and grinned. "He's just jealous that Navi was the only fairy who could talk."
"Hey!" Mido elbowed the other boy.
"So, now that I'm done being excited, could you please help Link?" Festari said with pleading eyes.
"I'm sorry, but we've always looked after our own selves." Mido shook his head "You may have to go find someone else."
Rosita gently bopped Mido on the head, eliciting an "ow" from him.
"Rosita! What was that for?"
Mido grunted as he rubbed his head, but the moment he turned his attention away from Festari, he had dissapeared from Mido's vision, leaving him confused when he looked back.
"Huh? What happened? Where is he?" he asked as he turned his head to and fro.
"He's, he's right here!" Redo raised an eyebrow at him and gestured to where Festari was, but Mido seemed to be even more confused than ever.
"There's no one there!"
"But, but—"
"It's because he can't see me anymore." Festari explained, catching Redo's attention. "Only the well-behaved children can see the Minish. He said he wouldn't help us, so I became invisble and silent to him. Since he was very bad, refusing to help to help an entire village at that, it should be a while until he can see us again. What about you?"
Redo wasted in no time to reply. "Nope. I won't help, either. It's simply too dangerous."
But no one in Hyrule has ever actually hurt anybody! At least not directly!"
"We know of ways of getting hurt without death. Mido here does it all the time. And the Skull Kids? Don't even get me started!" Redo shook his head as he crossed his arms. "Sorry, but I just can't help you!"
"Then, you too will no longer see us," Festari said as he slowly dissapeared.
"He's gone." Redo somehow couldn't help staring at the spot where Festari used to be. It was quite strange for him to know that Festari was in fact still there. They just couldn't see and hear him.
"You mean Festari? You've been talking to him all this time?" Mido asked, seemingly still confused, and received a nod from Redo. "I thought he had left a while ago?"
"No, he said something along the line of 'only the well-behaved children can see them'." Redo air-quoted. "And since you refused to help them, you're not considered a well-behaved child or something like that."
"Uhh, okay...?" Mido raised an eyebrow. "Did he say anything else?"
"He asked if I'd also help him. I said no, of course."
"Good. Now, go guard the entrance to Hyrule Field." Mido put one hand on his hip as the other pointed to the direction of the place in question.
"What?" Redo gave him a look of disbelief. "But the pact—"
"I don't care! You laughed at me, so that's what you get. Now, go!"
Redo grumbled but didn't complain, because he knew Mido would not let this slide no matter what he did. Therefore he started thinking about how to get of this before he heard something not too far from them.
It was laughter. Loud, echoing laughter.
And upon recognizing who that belonged to, he mumbled.
"Lado?"

The boy who fed the Wolfos took a ride on the village's flying leaf plant. Looking ahead, he saw a girl from afar, which caught his attention. She was walking in her green tunic and boots, her green hair flowing with the wind and her all blue eyes glancing around. Her fairy glowed a green light that matched her hair.
"Saria!" the boy called upon comfirming it was who he thought she was. The girl whose name was Saria glanced up at him as the flying plant landed gently and he ran up to her. "Saria, I need to talk to you! I—"
"It's okay, Sodo." Saria cut him off. "I know what's going on. I can feel the wind from the temple from here."
"I should've known." Sodo rubbed his head. "You are the village sage, after all."
"I know, and something's wrong." Saria said with fear in her eyes as she put her hand over her chest, seemingly to calm her heart down.
"Is is, but what?" Sodo looked down at the ground and thought to himself.
Just then, something small wandered through the bushes and made a rustling sound, which startled both of them. On top of that, they swore they could hear it asking "How am I to remedy this?"
"W-What's that?" asked Saria as she took a small step back.
"I don't know, but it's not a bug," Sodo scretched his hand in front of Saria, gesturing her to get behind him. "Let me see."
Sodo put a hand on the ground as he knelt down and asked in a small voice, trying not to scare it away. "Hey, little guy! Who are you?"
The thing revealed itself and they could see that it was actually a tiny man, who climbed onto Sodo's hand after he had gotten out of the bushes.
"I'm a Minish, and my name is Festari! Who are you? Who are your fairies?"
"I'm Sodo and this is Saria." He gestured his hand to Saria. "My fairy is called 'Faye'."
"And my fairy is called 'Esmerelda'," Saria said as she looked over to her fairy.
"So..." Sodo trailed off. "What made you come here? Is there anything you want from us?"
Nodding, Festari began to explain everything. When he was done with it, he looked downed at the ground. "I'm guessing you two won't help me either?"
"I'm really sorry, but I can't." Sodo shook his head with a rather sad look in his eyes, seemingly wanting to help him. "My brothers need me to look after them and our fairies. If a Kokiri belongs to a family, their fairies are also a family. For instance, my brothers are triplets, so our fairies are triplets."
Festari suddenly cocked his head. "Can you still see me?"
Sodo raised an eyebrow. "Why wouldn't I be?"
"If children misbehave, they can't see the Minish for a while. The two other boys I just mentioned earlier said they wouldn't help, so I became invisible to them."
Saria tappes her chin, thinking to herself for a while before speaking again. "I think I know who you mean."
And she was right.
"Maybe because there's a lot of Kokiri, but only two of my brothers?" Sodo had a slightly confused tone.
How many brothers do you have?" asked Festari.
"Two. We're the Know-it-All Brothers."
Festari's eyes were down as he thought about for a long moment before snapping his fingers when he looked up again. "That makes sense."
"Oh, and my brothers' fairies are calling 'Fee' and 'Fo'. Redo has Fee and Lado has Fo, if I remember correctly."
As Sodo was glancing up at the sky and trying to remember it, Saria had on a very thoughtful expression, fidgeting with her fingers in the process. Her eyes were glued to the ground with a rather perplexed look in them, but after a while, it was replaced by a definite, determined gaze.
"I'll go!" Saria took a step forward and exclaimed with her hand onher chest.
Sodo turned back to look at her with wide eyes. "W-What? You can't! You're Mido's favorite!"
"I can do what I want!" Although Saria's voice was strong, it still had a rather guilty tone in it. "I, I can't always worry about his feelings. I'll leave a note in his house and be on my way by sunrise."
"Oh thank you so, so much, Saria!" Festari said in delight with a big gladful smile on his face.
"Then let's go!"

"Mido is HILARIOUS! What if HE was the little guy?!"
Redo continued to follow the direction of the voice and soon found a boy behind a tree, laughing to himself. Upon closer inspection, it was a boy with brown-ish blond bangs, blue eyes and dressed in all green. His fairy, who was hovering nearby, was letting out a bright golden glow. After recognizing him, Redo realized he was right about who he thought the laughter belonged to.
"Lado?"
The boy whose name was Lado turned to his direction and raised his eyebrow, seemingly surprised to see Redo.
"Oh! You're here, Redo?"
"In La-La Land, again, huh, Lado?" Redo narrowed his eyes as he crossed his arms and tapped his foot. "Didn't even know I was commin'."
Lado looked around before saying in relief. "Well, at least Mido's not here!"
"Didn't think I'd find you here, right Lado?"
"Ah! Mido!" Lado let out a yelp as the boy he was watching out for appeared from the other side of the tree.
"You'll have to guard the entrance to the Lost Woods tonight. Both of you." Mido gave each of them a serious look as he put his hands on his hips. "And don't think I'll let your brother, Sodo talk me out of it. You Know-it-All Brothers are nothing but trouble!"
"Talking about me, Mido?"
Speak of the devil, there Sodo was. When he arrived, none of them knew, but Mido knew a long debate was coming so he decided to prevent it before it could happen.
"Just in time, Sodo! You can't—"
"Let's have a race in the Lost Woods." Unfortunately for Mido, Sodo had prepared for this in advance too and managed to cut Mido off before he could finish. "If I win, you'll let Lado and Redo go. If not, you can have them."
"You only say that because you're the fastest in the forest! And you know I'm the best fighter, Lado's the best dodger, and—well—"Mido looked over Redo with a smirk. "What talent does Redo have?"
"I'm the smartest!" Redo seemed a bit offended when he realized what Mido was sugggesting. "I can trick people! Sodo knows about herbs and some monsters or something, and I don't even know how Lado's supposed to be smart."
Lado snorted. "Maybe because I have a good imagination?"
"Alright, let's just get this over with." Mido held his head and grunted. "We'll run through the Lost Woods' maze and back. Deal?"
"Deal."
Sodo answered him with a confident smile on his face. And with that, both Mido and Sodo went into a running start. After the count down, both of the boys ran as fast as they could. But as Mido had expected, Sodo was much faster than Mido and soon enough, he found himself barely catching up with him so he decided to do something about it.
When he was sure his opponent wasn't looking, Mido hit Sodo with a Deku nut. Sodo fell to the ground, and Mido took the chance to run as fast as he could to the maze, then took a wrong turn before running into the Wolfos.
"You cheated!' Sodo said between pants when he had managed to catch up to him.
"We agreed to make it through the woods and back and I did just that." Mido practically spat the words into Sodo's face.
"But you threw a Deku nut at me!" Sodo pointed at Mido's face, slowly getting angry. "And you probably took a wrong turn so you could come back faster."
"I did all that? If you reallu believe so, prove it!" Seeing that Sodo was silent, he smirked. "Can't do it, can you? Well then, that means I made it to the maze first. So, I win. Lado and Redo will stand guard tonight."
Sodo let out a groan of fruatration. "I'd race you again—"
"Nuh uh." Mido wagged his finger in front of Sodo's face. "I wouldn't agree to another race."
"As I was saying..." Sodo now seemed even more irritated after being interrupted. "I'd race you again, but I know you'd cheat."
"Oh..." Mido stared at him for a few seconds before he shrugged. "But like I said, I did not cheat and I rightfully won, so I'll dismiss those words of yours."
Sodo groans again in annoyance. "Well, can I take one of their places or check up on them?"
"Nope." Mido wasted no time to give him a definite answer.
"Fine."
Feeling helpless, Sodo exhaled in an exhausted way and walked over to Lado to give him a hug. Lado returned it and gave him a few pats on the back as if to tell him he had tried his best and he shouldn't feel bad about it. Sodo nodded knowingly, appreciating the comfort.
As they broke the hug, Sodo was going to hug Redo, but Redo took a step back.
"How many times must I tell you I'm not a hugger?"
He seemed a bit dissapointed, but he nodded anyway when he remembered that Redo indeed did not like embraces. "Suit yourself."
"Alright, you all done with your chit-chat?" Mido crossed his arms and tapped hia finger impatiently. "You two had better get moving now!"
Mido turned on his heels and headed back home while the two brothers began guarding in fear.

Saria and Festari were now heading for the village store. A young boy was asleep at the counter. He was very small, so small that his head was barely on the counter. His fairy glowed orange and was right next to him.
"Good thing Dodo and Tang are sleeping," Saria whispered to herself. She bought a shield and several Deku sticks, placing money on the counter and left. But as she began to exit the shop, someone dropped down from the roof and stopping her from taking another step. It was a young girl dressed in green with red hair and blue eyes, her fairy flashing pink, and Saria recognized her.
"You're leaving?" asked the girl. Before Saria could say anything, the girl continued. "I can tell. You usually go to the Lost Woods without protection. So, why need one, now?"
"Please don't tell anyone, Tido." Saria said with pleading eyes. "And pleased don't telll the other fairies, Adeline. I'm going to visit Link."
"Y-You're leaving?" a small voice said from behind, catching both of their attention. Coming into view was a girl also dressed in green with shoulder's length red hair and blue eyes. Her fairy also flashed pink like Tido's. It was Tido's sister.
"Oh! Sido." Saria said before noticing someone else. "And Aurora!"
"You're leaving...?" Sido asked again with a sad voice.
"Yes, I am." Saria leaned down a little and holds her shoulder. "But please don't tell anyone, okay?"
"O-Okay," Sido replied her in a tiny voice as she fidgeted with her fingers.
Just then, they heard a voice of another person and appeared a blue-eyed girl with blonde pigtail poofs and green clothes. Her fairy was letting out a golden brown light.
"I see my little trouble-maker is up to no good. She asked the twins to help her." The girl put one hand onto her hip.
"Fado, Flora..." Saria quietly said their names.
"Don't worry." Fado waved her hand in the air. "I won't tell, either."
Saria exhaled in relief as she nodded her head. "Thank you, Fado. Thank you , everyone. Goodbye."
"Farewell and good luck!" Everyone said in sync as they watched her dissapear into the distance. When Saria was no longer in their point of view, Festari came out of her pocket and wiped the sweats off his forehead.
"Phew, that was nerve-wracking."
Before long, Saria could see Mido sleeping from not far away and she stopped in her track to begin sneaking past him, her heart beating the entire time. She carefully took out her note as to not make any sound and placed it next to him. After that, she continued to walk quietly and ran when she was at a safe distance.
"We only have one person left to deal with," she said both to Featari and herself as she left his house. "And I just hope it's a good one."

"Ow!" Lado let out a painful yelp when someone bumped into him while he was walking into the Lost Woods. He was about to complain when he saw who it was, and he was surprised he could recognize her in the dark. "Oh, Sido? What are you doing out so late?"
"Well..." Sido scratched her head. "I may be scared of the dark, but I was busy all day. Cooking. Still. I just had to see you."
"I understand, Sido, but I'm going into the Lost Woods tonight." Lado lowered himself down a bit so his eyes were leveling hers. "I got in trouble, so now I have to."
Upon hearing that, Sido widened her eyes in fear. "B-But they're dangerous!"
"I'll be fine, Sido. Here, let me give you a hug. Sodo gave me one, so here's one for you!"
Lado opened his arms and let Sido run into his embrace. The hug lasted so long, Sido almost didn't want to let go, so when Lado broke it, there was a sad look in her eyes which Lado could definitely see. He patted her on the head and gave her a reassuring smile.
"Don't worry Sido, I'll be okay. I promise." He then straightened himself up. "I gotta go, now. Goodbye."
Sido watched his steps aa he slowly faded away from her view and whispered to herself. "What should I do now?"
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
How dare he sent me to guard duty!
Redo was clearly angry. Very angry. Ever since his guard duty started, he had been unable to stop thinking about it and he became more and more enraged as each second passed by. He was so angry that even smallest thing could tick him off now, including the sound of the grass crunching in the dimness.
"Who are you?" he screamed at its direction then let out a small gasp when he saw who it was.
"I guess you were punished for something?"
"S-Saria?" There was surrprise in Redo's tone. "What are you doing here at this time of the day?"
"That's him!" Festari yelled from Saria's pocket. "That's one of the boys who refused to help my people!"
"Redo..." Saria hurriedIy tried to explain. "I have to go see Link. I—"
"You wanna help the Minny people, right?" Redo finished her sentence, to which he received an angry yelp from the tiny person.
"It's MINISH!"
"Look, I know you'll get into trouble for this, but just let me go through here. I'll explain everything when I get back." Saria intertwined her fingers together as she pleaded. "I'll make sure you're not forced to rip grass or lift rocks or anything."
"Yeah, Mido does make us do a number of back-breaking thing..."
Redo exhaled tiredly before an awful idea popped into his head, his fairy hovering. above him like a candle. He picked up a stone the size of a pebble and threw it into the darkness.
"Oh no! Someone's trying to escape!" He made sure his voice was loud enough to be heard, which made Saria panic.
"Redo!" She whisper-shouted. "What are you d—"
"Run!" Redo whisper-shouted back, and now Saria was confused.
"Huh?"
"Leave! I can use the rock excuse to get us both out of trouble."
"Ah, alright," said Saria as she nodded. "Thank you so much."
"Don't thank me. It's more for me than anyone. Now, get lost."
He step aside and titled his head to the side, signaling for Saria to run, which she wasted no time to do. After she had dissapeared, he chuckled to himself.
"Now, to check up on my little brother..."

Lado was in the Lost Woods, protecting the spot leading to Zora's Domain when Redo walked in.
"Mido said you could stop guarding this entrance, now," Redo said to catch Lado's attention.
Lado let out a gasp full of joy. "Really?"
"Yeah, but... the problem is, the Zoras just recently re-made their domain recently." Redo scratched the back of his neck and exhaled. "To get to it, you have to take a wrong turn in the Lost Woods a lot of time, and I do mean a lot of times. Mido wants you to test it out for as many times as it takes. For all night if you have to. And don't tell Mido why or who told you to do this. He hates dealing with other Hyrulian races."
"He does?" Lado raised an eyebrow.
"Well, he doesn't hate them, just the politics that go along with them." Redo crossed his arms and averted his gaze. "I mean, the Zoras did mess up the Lost Woods. King Zora somehow wasn't involved though. Just a group of Zoras causing trouble."
"Then..." Lado looked even more confused now. "How is that considered politics?"
Redo's eyes widened, his heart skipping a beat as he realized he almost exposed himself. He quickly tried to cover it up.
"I don't know. He just said so." He shrugged, trying to appear as calm as he could. "Just—Don'tsk Mido about it. You'll get into more trouble!"
"You got it!" Lado nodded in salute, not daring to question anything more.
"Alright, I gotta go now." Redo waved goodbye before turning on his heals and walked away calmly. But when he was sure Lado could no longer see him, he ran and turned to the wrong direction.
"Now, they'll blame him!" Redo laughed to himself. "Time to get a goodnight's sleep!"

"Link once said that there were two places he'd find shelter from his quests in Hyrule Field—his family house and Lon Lon Ranch." Saria said as she moved a branch out of her way, all the while continuing to walk through the forest. "I've only been to one place, Lon Lon Ranch. I came there for a party, and that's the only time I've been there so far."
"I guess that's where we're going?" asked Festari as he looked ahead.
Saria thoughy about it for a while before answering him. "May as well."
So, to Lon Lon Ranch they went.
