Chapter 4: Now I Have a Machine Gun, Ho Ho Ho

"Jane, what is this?"

Jane came into the living room to see Maura by the couch where she'd left her shopping bag.

"It's our Christmas sweaters for the party tonight." Jane told her.

Maura held the sweater in front of her and examined it. It was a green sweater that had small white stars and Christmas trees that went from one shoulder to the other across the neckline. Near the waist, the design changed to skulls and handguns.

A skyscraper stood in the middle of the sweater and above the building it in white lettering it read, "Nakatomi Plaza." Below the plaza in smaller letters was "Christmas Party 1984".

"Why are there guns and skulls on a Christmas sweater?" Maura asked her, "And what is Nakatomi Plaza?"

Jane was in disbelief, "It's Nakatomi Plaza, it's the most famous building in the world!"

"I have to disagree with you Jane, I've never heard of this plaza where as I have heard of…"

Jane stopped her before she could start listing off the names of buildings, "It's from the movie Die Hard!"

Maura looked at her confused.

"We watch it every Christmas. How do you not know Nakatomi Plaza?"

"This building is from that?" Maura asked as she looked at the sweater again

"Yes!" Jane said trying not to get even more frustrated with her girlfriend.

Jane could see as Maura was trying to remember the movie.

"Okay but I don't understand. What does Die Hard have to do with Christmas?"

"Die Hard is a Christmas movie."

"How is a man in a tank top who's running around a tower fighting terrorists while barefoot and bloody, a Christmas movie?"

Jane just stood there, mouth agape, "You..I..wha… First of all, it's a plaza and secondly, how can you ask that?"

She grabbed the sweater and held it up, "This movie is classic, a treasure and I will not stand here and be made to justify it in any way."

She turned from Maura and stomped her way upstairs.

Later at The Dirty Robber for the Christmas Party, Jane stood by the bar, pout on her face as she sipped her beer.

Maura soon joined her in her matching green sweater, "Are you going to pout through the whole party?"

"I may." Jane told her.

"I'm getting a lot of complements on my sweater." Maura said to her.

"Well Yippee-ki Yay." Jane said unenthusiastically.

"Is that…?"

"Yes it's from the movie." Jane said pinching the bridge of her nose.

Jane looked at her and sighed, she then pulled Maura close to her, wrapping her arms around her waist. She stared in her eyes, "You know I love you right?"

"Even though I don't know much about your favorite movie?"

"Favorite Christmas movie." Jane corrected her, "And yes even though you don't know much about my favorite movie."

"I love you too." Maura said then kissed her on the lips, "And I promise next time we watch Die Hard I will pay extra close attention."

"That's all I ask." Jane said to her then gave her a squeeze and kissed her nose.
