Chapter 3:Released arrow
Izuku paced back and forth in his living room, "Clint, what if I fail and don't get the chance to go to UA?" He asked Clint, who was seated on the couch enjoying tea with his mother, while shaking his hands lightly.
Clint set his cup down and sat up straight "Relax kid, you're going to pass because i trained you" He said smiling before a cookie hit his forehead causing him to turn to the angry Kate.
Kate glared hard at Clint and picked up another cookie, "I'm sorry but who was the one to train him when mr 'I'm the best archer but not the best teacher' didn't know how to teach our little muffin child" She said while popping the cookie in her mouth.
"Muffin child?" Izuku questioned before shaking his head, "Look I'm just nervous that's all and you two aren't helping at all, Mom do you have any advice?" He desperately looked to his mom for any help.
Inko had also changed over the past few months, no longer the chubby lady she was known for nowadays. she was still a bit chubby but she lost more than enough weight to feel happier, but she also started supporting her baby's dream more.
"Well, I think you will do your best and no matter what we will all be proud of you but we also believe you will pass and show everyone quirkless doesn't mean useless my love" She said with a sweet smile and rubbing Izuku's cheek.
Izuku leaned into her touch and smiled softly "Of course you know just what to say mom" He said with a chuckle seeing Clint and Kate scoof while hiding their own smiles.
"I can do this and i'll be the best hero i can be and save everyone with a smile" He said, looking Clint in the eyes causing Clint to nod back and raise his glass.
'I can't do this' Izuku thought as he stood outside of UA, holding his case containing his bow and arrows, he looked around seeing all the other students and bit his lip.
"Move the hell out of my way nerd before i kill you" Bakugo said while shoulder bumping Izuku causing him to stumble and almost fall.
'Damn it why today do i have to embarrass myself' He thought, prepared to roll with his momentum and catch himself before, he noticed he wasn't getting close to the ground,"What the?" He asked before he looked up and saw a short girl with a brown bob cut smiling down to him.
"Hi, sorry for using my quirk on you would've been bad luck to fall before the exams" She said while adjusting him so he landed on his feet and deactivated her quirk, "So are you nervous for the test too? Cause i am" She said, bouncing on her heels slightly.
Izuku blushed a bit at her before he coughed into his hands, "Ah yeah a bit but i'm sure with your quirk you'll be just fine" He said smiling softly, adjusting the case in his hand, "Oh i'm Izuku midoriya nice to meet you" he said holding his hand out.
She took his hand,tucking a pinkie in, and shook it "I'm ochako uraraka but i thought your name was Deku?"She asked while tilting her head.
Izuku paled before looking down at her "No, what makes you think that?" He asked as he started making his way to the testing area.
She followed him and walked beside him "Well that one guy yelled out deku to you like he knew you" She said imagining a chibi Bakugo screaming, "I thought it was a nickname cause doesn't deku sound like dekiru like you can do it?" She said smiling brightly.
Izuku covered his eyes and chuckled, "No he means it as useless but you make it sound cool so if we make it in you can call me that" He said before breaking off to his seat beside Bakugou who just growled.
Izuku read the pamphlet gathering the information he'd need when the lights dimmed and present mic walked out.
"HOwdy there listeners, can I get a hey!" He yelled waiting for a response before he was met with silence,causing him to sweatdrop.
"Okay never mind, must be nerves, anyways today you all will be taking the hero exam, now the test consists of fight three types of robots" He said as a projection of the three types they would be fights,"The first is the one pointer its weak but always be careful,Second is the two pointer kinda looks like a mario villain and lastly we have the third pointer the toughest of the three" He said as the projections came on screen.
"Now any questions?" He asked to the crowd causing a tall straight lace teen stand up, "Pardon me, Present mic on the sheet we were given there are four villains but you only told us about three is this a misprint or are you purposely not telling us either way is a bad look on ua itself" The teen ranted before turning around and pointing at Izuku, "And you, we are indoors take those sunglasses off it's disrespectful" He said before sitting down.
Izuku rolled his eyes and listened to the rest of the instructions before checking his card where he'd be placed and peeked at Bakugou's, who was looking back at his.
"Darn i was looking forward to crushing you nerd, And quit looking at my card or i'll kill you" HE snarled before getting up and walking to change.
Izuku chuckled before walking to the locker room and changed into a sleeveless compression shirt and thick black cargo pants and popped open his case pulling his bow and quiver full of arrows out and smiled softly.
He walked off the bus and slid the quiver onto his back and looked at the other examinees before seeing Uraraka shaking nervously and started walking to her before a hand stopped him.
He turned to see the teen from earlier who called him out, "She looks to be concentrating, are you here to test us before the test and disrupt us, also why do you have a bow and arrows those aren't allowed?" The teen asked loudly, causing others to chuckle.
Izuku raised an eyebrow before pushing the teens hand off of him, "Actually i am allowed to have these because i filled the proper support item forms out and secondly i was gonna help calm her down dickwad" He said while starting to walk over to Uraraka.
He was almost to her when an alarm went off and the doors opened, showing a giant real like city, "Well what are you all waiting on there's no countdowns in real life" He heard present mic yell out and starting running into the city with the other examinees.
Izuku ran into a high rise building and ran up to the roof and hopped on a ledge to see farther and spot targets before he crouched and pulled an arrow out and aimed down the street, spotting a three pointer and let the arrow fly into the robots eye shutting it down, "Three points" He whispered while aiming at another robot.
Inside a dark room filled with monitors, shadows watched the tests and examinees, "Hmm a great batch this year don't you think eraser?" A small rodent looking shadow asked the tall lean shadow.
"Eh they haven't shown zero potential yet" The figure said before looking at different screens showing uraraka,bakugou,and the teen who called out Izuku.
"Seems one of the contestants uses a bow as a support weapon"A female figure said pulling up the screen showing Izuku on the same building shooting arrow after arrow, "He must need it to support his quirk, Maybe he has a quirk like you snipe?" She asked with a lick of her lips.
A figure in a cowboy hat chuckled before waving his hand, "Not that i know of, but what is the lil partners quirk nezu?" Snipe asked the rodent.
Nezu pulled up Izuku's file on the computer in front of him and started laughing out loud, causing the other figures to freeze and get scared, "It says here his name is Izuku midoriya and that he has no quirk" He said showing the other teachers.
The other figures gasped and read the file over and over again, "What no quirk, how did he get into the test anyways?" A tall muscular figure asked, looking at nezu.
Nezu smiled and sipped his tea. "Well we did get rid of the rule saying they can't take the test plus he is doing pretty good if I do say 32 villain points and 15 rescue points,not a bad score"he said before focusing on izuku again.
"Well let see if he has the heart of a hero then" A boney figure said pressing a big red button.
Izuku hoped over a alleyway and ran towards a higher sight point, 'C'mon there's gotta be more robots somewhere around here' He thought before he heard an explosion and a building falling, "Well shit that seems bad" He said before running to the ledge seeing people running away, even spotting the boy from earlier.
Izuku shook his head and was about to run before he heard someone cry for help and spotted Uraraka with rubble on her legs.
He thought to her saving him from falling earlier and knew he had to return the favor, so he cycled through his arrows and pulled out one of his explosive arrows and loaded it before releasing it aimed at the zero pointers knee joint.
He jumped down the buildings ledge before catching himself with a rope arrow and swung towards Uraraka and ran to her, "hey can you use the thing you used on me earlier to life the rubble?" He asked her while setting his bow down and examining her.
Uraraka looked up at him in shock that he'd come help her, before she started tearing up and shook her head, "I-i'm sorry i exhausted myself and i'm at my limit" She cried out.
He patted her head, "hey it'll be okay why? Because i am here" He said quoting All might causing Uraraka to stop crying as Izuku started lifting the rubble off her enough for her to crawl out.
He put his bow over his shoulder and picked her up "Alright we got this" he said and started jogging away but was blown away as the zero pointer struck the ground behind him.
He and uraraka hit the pavement and he groaned before seeing the zero pointer getting closer, he looked around and saw the teen from before, "Hey engine boy grab uraraka now!" He yelled out at the kid who ran back and grabbed her, "What will you do?" The teen asked while izuku pulled out pieces of an arrow.
Izuku started building the arrow before smiling up at the teen, "Well first you're gonna take her out of here and then me and that big boy over there are gonna have a nice chat" He said before standing up and loading the newly built arrow.
Izuku took a deep breath and pulled the arrow back and aimed at the robots chest and closed one eye, "cmon get a bit closer why don't you" He said before letting the arrow fly hitting the robots chest causing an explosion big enough to cause a small mushroom cloud and putting a hole in the zero pointers chest.
The teachers all stood up as they watched what happened, "That kid had that type of arrow on him!" Present mic yelled over the radio.
Nezu hummed before eraser looked down at his boss, "You knew he had that but knew he would only use it when he had to build it so it wasn't a threat" He whispered down to his boss who just smiled up to him.
Izuku walked out from the shop window he was blown into and coughed, "Damn that was bigger than Clint said it would be" He said as he heard the test end and he saw the teen and uraraka coming towards him,causing him to smile at them.
"Deku are you alright?" Uraraka asked, leaning against the teen and looking izuku over.
He waved her off and sat down before seeing his shirt was ripped in places before he saw a short nurse walking to him.
"Damn test getting more and more dangerous" The nurse grumbled before standing in front of Izuku, "How badly are you hurt young man and you too young lady?" She asked glaring at Izuku and then smiling softly at Uraraka.
Izuku waved her off "I should be fine just got the air knocked out of me but I think she has an injured ankle, can you look at it please?" He asked her looking over at Uraraka who just blushed.
The nurse nodded and kissed uraraka's leg causing a green haze to cover it before it was healed, "Now be careful my quirk speeds up the healing process but that uses energy making you tired young lady" She said before she walked off to other testers.
Izuku rubbed the back of his head and smiled "Well I guess we should head back to the buses to change and wait for our results, see y'all in class" He called out and walked off, hiding how nervous he was that he failed.
