Life Debt to Iron Man

Harriet Jayme Selene Potter had traveled had traveled the world after she had left Hogwarts and she decided to settle in New York. She wanted to start a knew life in New York that she went to the Magical Congress of America and registered as an American citizen but she also had a citizenship in Britain as well.
She decided to open a Café where she would sell the most amazing coffees, teas, and baked goods. She called her Café, The Emerald Lion Café. Once she opened the Café, it did really well and she had been surprised when Tony Stark entered her Café along with a woman who she assumed was his girlfriend or something.
"What may I help you with?" Harriet asked the man.
"I would like to try one of your tarts and a cup of coffee." Tony said.
"Sure, is there anything else, sir?" Harriet said.
"Nah, Pepper was telling me about your Café and I was curious for myself." Tony said.
Harriet blinked in confusion.
Tony saw this and said, "This is Pepper Potts, my assistant and friend."
Harriet looked at the woman that Tony had introduced and said, "Nice to meet you, Pepper."
"Likewise and this man here is my boss, Tony Stark." Pepper said introducing the man.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Stark." Harriet said looking at the man.
"Call me Tony." Tony said.
"Okay, Tony. Then you and Miss Potts may call me Harriet." Harriet said.
And that was how she had made two new friends in New York. Over time, Tony Stark and Pepper Potts along with some of Tony's most trusted people came to her Café. She enjoyed talking with Pepper and Tony whenever they came by.
A year later...
Harriet was working in her Café when an order came in for Stark Tower which she was to deliver. Little did she know that she was going to be in the middle of something major of all things that would be the talk of New York for years to come.
She made her way to Stark Tower and she was amazed that Tony had created something so beautiful. She entered the building and headed to the floor that she assumed that she was to leave the Order. However, when she reached the floor; she wasn't expecting to see a man standing there and she couldn't help her fighting instinct wanting to surface after a long time.
"Who are you?" The man asked.
"I could ask you the same thing, sir." Harriet said.
Meanwhile, on the Helicraft carrier...
Tony and the Avengers were going over what Loki had just done.
"Sir?"
"Yes, Jarvis?" Tony said.
"Isn't today the day that Miss Potter makes her usual delivery?"
Tony froze and he realized that Harriet could be in danger and said, "Damn."
"What is it, Tony?" Steve asked curiously.
"Pepper and I made friends with a Café owner and today she's probably making her delivery to Stark Tower!" Tony said.
Steve and the other Avengers were stunned to hear this.They watched as Tony took off immediately. So, the others followed in a Quinjet.
Back at Stark Tower...
Harriet had just placed the usual order that Tony and Pepper had ordered when they had been working on the tower. She was still looking at the man that was apparently on Tony's property.
"I'll ask again, woman. Who are you?" Loki said.
"A friend of Tony Stark." Harriet simply said, "And you are?"
"I'm Loki and I intend to rule this pitiful planet." The man answered.
"Loki? As in, the Norse God of Mischief and Lies, Loki?" Harriet questioned.
Loki was surprised that this woman knew of him and said, "Yes, I am he."
"Wow. I would say it's nice to meet you but I am not sure that it is at the moment." Harriet said.
Loki blinked at that then asked, "Why not?"
"Well there has been so many stories about Loki through the years that it's hard to picture Loki wanting to take over a planet." Harriet stated simply.
Loki seemed surprised by what she said.
At that moment, Tony landed right outside and saw Harriet talking to Loki. He entered and Loki turned his attention towards Tony. Harriet looked at Tony with a smile which caught Tony off guard for a moment. Then Harriet watched as Tony and Loki spoke to each other.
Then Harriet watched in horror as Loki threw Tony out the window, but was relieved when she saw his suit go after him out the window.
Moments later, Harriet found herself beside the Black Widow and she was doctoring the wounds of the both the Black Widow and the Astrophysicist that were trying to close the portal. Harriet saw Tony go with the missile through portal and she was worried for Tony.
"Come on, Tony." Natasha said.
Natasha watched as Tony fell through the portal but she noticed that the young woman named Harriet was watching and that she had mumbled something under her breath.
Then Natasha watched in horror as Harriet jumped off the side of the building. However, what surprised her was that Harriet was floating down.
"Sir, did you see that?!" Natasha said.
"Yes, I did." Fury said, "Is that the young woman that Stark was concerned about?"
"Yes, sir." Natasha said.
"Keep an eye on her." Fury demanded.
"Yes, sir." Natasha said.
Harriet managed to land on her feet but ran towards Tony immediately. When she reached him; she didn't see him moving until the Hulk roared.
Tony gasped and said, "No one kissed me, did they?"
Captain America and Thor laughed.
Harriet approached and said, "Tony?"
Tony looked to see Harriet and said, "Hey."
Harriet clasped which startled Tony as well as the others. However, what Harriet said next surprised them including Tony, "Tony! You idiot! You brilliant man! Don't you ever do something like that again!"
Tony was lost for words as he saw tears started falling from Harriet's face. He wasn't sure what to do but he decided to wrap his arms around her and then he heard her say quietly, "Tony, I owe you and Pepper my life because you both pulled me out of my depression. I thought I had lost you like had lost the two friends of my dad."
Tony blinked because this was first time that Harriet had mentioned something that had happened in her life.
Steve and Thor noticed that Tony was in shock from whatever Harriet had said to him. Then they noticed that his facial expression changed into one of regret and he held Harriet closer to him.
Later that evening after they had eaten some shawarma; Tony brought Harriet to the tower and let her rest plus he wanted to keep an eye on her.
Pepper returned and saw that Harriet was asleep on the couch. She looked at Tony with a question in her eyes.
"Pep, Harriet mentioned something from her past today. She also said that she owed her life to you and me because we had helped her out of her depression. However, when she started crying; she told me that she thought had lost me like she had lost two of her father's best friends." Tony said, "I didn't have the heart to leave her alone after hearing that."
"I understand, Tony. I love just having Harriet as a friend as payment; but what about you?" Pepper said.
"I enjoy her friendship as well, but seeing her crying over me that made me feel horrible like I had hurt my girlfriend horrible." Tony said.
Pepper was surprised to hear Tony say something like that and said, "Tony, is it possible that you may be falling in love with Harriet?"
"I could be and it's sort of scary. Mainly, because the way Harriet spoke like she owed us a life debt." Tony stated.
"Well, if she does feel that way; her life debt with me has been paid just by being my friend." Pepper said, "What about you, Tony? How would you want Harriet to repay you through a life debt?"
Tony sighed and said, "I wouldn't mind to give a romantic relationship with Harriet a try; but at the same time, I am terrified that I'll screw it up."
Suddenly, a flash of light happened which confused both Pepper and Tony.
"What just happened, Tony?" Pepper asked.
"I'm not exactly sure but is it possible that Harriet might know?" Tony said.
Meanwhile, at the Emerald Lion Café...
Harriet was in the kitchen when her magic swirled around her as she softly heard Tony's words and was in absolute shock that he would consider being in a relationship with her of all people.
She sighed as she realized that she was going to have to tell Tony and Pepper her entire story when she had only told bits and pieces of it at the beginning. The only thing that she worried about was how they would react to it.
At that moment, Happy walked in and said, "Miss Potter?"
Harriet looked up and said, "Yes, what is it, Happy?"
"My boss, Tony Stark wishes for you to come to Stark Tower." Happy said.
Harriet sighed and said, "Let me guess, it has something do with a flash of light?"
Happy nodded but wondered how Miss Potter knew.
"Alright, let me close up the Café for a bit and we'll go." Harriet said
Happy nodded.
Once the café was locked up; Happy watched as Miss Potter got into the car. He noticed that she seemed nervous for some reason; which was odd to him because she was never nervous when his boss and Miss Potts asked him to bring her to the tower before.
When they arrived at Stark Tower, Happy got out and opened her door. Then Harriet motioned him to come as well; which he thought was odd of her. They entered the building and went to the floor where Loki had been smashed by the Hulk during the invasion.
Back to Pepper and Tony ...
"Pepper, do you think she'll be okay with me as boyfriend material?" Tony questioned.
"I don't know, Tony. Harriet has never mentioned if she's been in a relationship before." Pepper said.
"That's because most guys just wanted me to play housewife and not be able to do my own thing. They believed that I shouldn't work." A voice said.
Both Tony and Pepper turned to see Harriet standing there and Happy was standing there behind her in shock at what he had heard.
"Harriet?" Tony said confused as well as stunned.
Harriet sighed sadly and said, "Tony, what I am about to tell you stays between you, Happy, and Pepper because I trust you all."
Pepper noticed that something was wrong because Harriet seemed sad.
"Okay." Tony said.
"Please believe me when I say that this is hard for me to tell you all?" Harriet said.
"Harriet, we'll agree to keep whatever you say or tell us a secret." Pepper said.
So, Harriet began her story from the very beginning. As she told her story to them; they gasped in horror, shock, angry, and several different other emotions that Harriet saw flash across their faces as she spoke.
When she finished telling her story, Pepper and Happy were in tears. Tony, however, was completely speechless that Harriet to endure so much at such a young age that he was upset on her behalf.
"I understand if you all don't want to be friends anymore." Harriet said.
Tony looked at Harriet and said, "Harriet, we are staying your friends."
Both Pepper and Happy nodded in agreement with Tony.
"Um...Harriet?" Tony questioned.
"Yes, Tony?" Harriet said.
"Could you possibly explain the flash of light that happened before Happy went to get you?" Tony asked curiously.
Harriet took a deep breath then let it out and said, "Tony, remember when I said that I owed you and Pepper my life?"
Tony nodded.
"Well, I basically have a life debt to pay to you and Pepper. It's a bit of complicated magic." Harriet stated.
"How complicated?" Pepper questioned.
"Complicated enough where I could lose my magic or even die." Harriet said solemnly.
Pepper gasped in horror and said, "Your friendship is enough for me."
Happy sat there stunned at what he was hearing.
Harriet turned towards Tony to see how he was taking this bit of information.
"So, let me understand this correctly; if I said that I would like to start a relationship with you romantically...(Tony paused for a moment)...it means that you would have to do so regardless?" Tony questioned.
Harriet nodded and said, "My magic would have accepted your terms in order to pay the life debt."
"Well, Pepper already considers your friendship as payment for the debt between you and her." Tony stated.
Harriet blinked and wondered what Tony was thinking.
"I would like to try romantic relationship with you, if that's okay because I find you absolutely beautiful and I want to understand what a romantic relationship is like. I admit that I've never exactly been in a romantic relationship before, Harriet." Tony said.
Harriet just smiled and said, "I haven't exactly been in a romantic relationship before either, Tony. So, we'll both be learning if that makes you feel better. "
Tony smiled and nodded.
Pepper and Happy smiled to see that Tony was give a romantic relationship a try.
Two Years later...
Tony, Harriet, Pepper, and Happy made their way to Monaco with Pepper's PA, Natalie Rushmore aka Natasha Romanov aka Black Widow. Harriet was fully aware of who Natalie was and whispered quietly to Tony; which Tony nodded in understanding.
Pepper just shook her head and turned to her PA and said, "You'll get use to this because Tony and Harriet have their own little way communicating with each other when they don't want no one to know what they're discussing."
Natalie just nodded.
Tony pulled Harriet close and whispered something to her; which she smiled while nodding.
Natalie well Natasha was curious as what was going on with Tony and this woman.
"Sorry, Natalie for not introducing you; but this is Harriet." Tony said looking at Natalie.
"Nice to meet you, Harriet." Natalie said.
"Pleasure." Harriet said.
Tony chuckled.
"Tony!" Pepper said.
"What?" Tony questioned.
"Are you rubbing off on Harriet, Tony?" Pepper questioned.
"No." Tony said.
Harriet giggled.
Natalie was confused by what was going on between Tony and this woman, Harriet. She took noticed that Tony seemed happy with Harriet even though she recalled what Harriet did when Loki attacked New York.
However, little did they know that their trip to Monaco was going to be very interesting.
Moments later, They were at the races and in the VIP Box.
"Hello, Tony." A voice said.
Tony turned with his arm around Harriet's waist and said, "Hello."
"Who's your girl?" The man asked.
"Her name is Harriet." Tony answered unsure whether Harriet wanted him to use one of her titles.
"That's such a common name." A woman's voice said.
Tony recognized the woman as the reporter that tried to sleep with him and succeeded. He hated her because she had doubted him as Iron Man.
Harriet could sense that Tony wasn't exactly happy about seeing this woman and said, "My name is Countess Harriet Potter."
Both the man and the woman were stunned by what Harriet had said as was Natalie.
Some people gasped at hearing at what the woman with Tony Stark said.
"Countess? Yeah, right." The woman said.
Tony had seen everyone's reaction when Harriet had called out her title as Countess Potter; which meant that Harriet had told him the truth even though she hadn't exactly been sure if her titles would be carried over to the Muggle World from the Magical World.
"Countess, is an honor to meet you." Another person said.
"May I ask how you met Tony Stark?" Another person questioned.
Tony was starting to get protective of his girlfriend, Harriet. He was surprised when Harriet faced him with a smile and then answered the question about meeting Tony by saying with a hint of sarcasm, "I met Tony when I first moved to New York. We became friends and Tony knows how much I hate using my title Countess at times. Plus, he knows how I hate the Press and he knew that I would prefer to be treated normal. He has been a perfect gentleman and he has own type of class that would put some nobles to shame."
Tony was amazed at Harriet and how she was handling the reporter next to Justin Hammer.
"By the way, what are your names?" Harriet asked.
"I'm Justin Hammer and this is my date, Christine Everhart." The man said.
Harriet looked at Justin Hammer and said, "So, you're one of Stark Industries competitors?" Harriet questioned.
"Yes." Justin said.
Tony and Pepper along with Happy were watching this and wondered what exactly Harriet was going to do.
"How did Stark end up with you?" Christine asked.
Harriet smiled as she answered, "Tony Stark saved my life, Miss Everhart. As the title of Countess, it was title I inherited from my godfather who was a Duke. Also, Miss Everhart, you remind me of a dreadful reporter back England that would do anything to get what she wanted."
Several minutes later...
Harriet, Pepper, and Happy were looking for Tony. When Harriet looked out on the track to see Tony getting into the race car.
"Pepper?" Harriet said.
"Yes, Harriet?" Pepper said.
"I think I found Tony." Harriet said.
"Where?" Pepper questioned.
Harriet pointed out to the track.
"Unbelievable." Pepper said.
Harriet giggled and said, "I'm guessing Tony does things his way too often."
Pepper nodded.
...Time Skip...
Tony and Rhodey were making there way onto a ship in order to save both Pepper and Harriet.
"Tony, when where you going to tell me that you were dating steadily?" Rhodey asked.
"Well, Rhodes, I was trying it to see if I screwed up on romantic relationships or not and Harriet agreed to it. Considering, Harriet had never been in a romantic relationship before either. " Tony said.
"How can a Countess not have been in a romantic relationship?" Rhodey questioned.
"Her life wasn't exactly peachy growing up and she really didn't have time to have a romantic relationship." Tony said.
"Okay, but seriously how did you get with her?" Rhodey asked.
"I actually...well, Pepper and I somehow saved her life when she first moved to New York because she was suffering from depression of losing her loved ones to a mad man in England." Tony stated.
Rhodey was stunned to hear that and asked for Tony to explain.
"It's sorta hard to explain, but Harriet believed that she owed myself and Pepper what some refer to as a life debt. Pepper told her that her friendship was enough for her." Tony said.
"And what about you, Tony?" Rhodey asked curiously.
Tony sighed and said, "I asked her if she would like to try a romantic relationship with me. She agreed to it, but she did warn me that sometimes that trouble seems to find her somehow." Tony said.
Rhodey chuckled and said, "I think the same could be said about you, Tony."
Tony chuckled and said, "Yeah, I guess that makes myself and Harriet trouble magnets together then."
Moments later...
A huge fight broke out with a bunch of Iron Man suits that were giving Tony and Rhodey back up since they were controlled by Jarvis.
Rhodey managed to find both Pepper and Harriet; while Tony was fighting the bad guys.
"Hey, girls." Rhodey said.
Both Harriet and Pepper looked to see Rhodey and were happy to see him.
"Rhodey, that wacko injected something into Pepper and I have been trying to keep it at bay since I have a medical background." Harriet said.
Rhodey blinked.
Pepper sighed and said, "Harriet, go help Tony. I'll be okay since Rhodey is here."
Harriet looked at Pepper as if to say, 'Are you sure?'
Pepper just nodded.
Harriet got up and ran to help Tony.
"Do I even what to know about how a Countess knows a lot in the Medical Field?" Rhodey questioned.
Pepper smiled and said, "She even surprises Tony at times which the look on his face is priceless at times."
"I didn't think anything could surprise Tony?" Rhodey said.
"Well, Harriet apparently can." Pepper said.
"For the longest time, I thought that you and Tony would get together, Pepper." Rhodey said.
"Well, Tony and I tried but we realized that it wouldn't work." Pepper said.
"How come?" Rhodey questioned.
"Well, I couldn't exactly accept that Iron Man and Tony Stark were one in the same. Tony needed someone who could and that was Harriet." Pepper answered.
"So, just exactly how serious are Tony and Harriet?" Rhodey asked curiously.
"Very serious. In fact, Harriet is the one that has Tony on a daily routine that keeps him healthy and fit." Pepper said.
"You're kidding?!" Rhodey said in shock.
"Nope." Pepper said.
A few years later...
Harriet was at her Café when Happy called her with some disturbing news about Tony. To say that Harriet was upset by the news that Tony was in the Hospital because something had happened in Siberia was an understatement. She immediately closed her Café and headed for the Hospital.
Once there, Happy, Rhodey, and Pepper greeted her; but they could tell she was upset. Harriet entered Tony's room and saw the bruises along with Tony being hooked up to a ventilator. She about broke into tears at seeing him like this.
"What happened?" Harriet asked.
"Captain America." Rhodey said.
"Captain Rogers, did this?" Harriet questioned.
Rhodey and Pepper nodded.
Harriet looked at the man that she loved as she held his hand and said, "Tony, can you hear me?"
Tony squeezed Harriet's hand to let her know that he could hear her.
"Tony, can you open your eyes for me, please?" Harriet said.
Pepper and the others were watching this.
Tony opened his eyes and saw tear tracks going down Harriet's eyes. He moved his hand to wipe away her tears.
"Harriet?" Tony said softly.
"Tony?!" Harriet responded.
The nurses and the doctors were simply stunned; when Mr. Stark simply pulled the woman into a kiss.
Pepper and Rhodey blushed at seeing Tony kissing Harriet with such a passion. They stepped out of the room.
"Harriet, you never did explain a life debt clearly?" Tony said.
Harriet sighed and said, "Tony, when I mentioned the life debt with us being friends and all; however, I didn't expect for you to want to purse a romantic relationship with me as payment. A life debt is binding with magic and it could cost me my magic or my life." Harriet said.
"That part you already told me, but I think I really started to fall I'm love with you romantically and I wasn't really aware of it." Tony said.
"Tony, what exactly are you saying?" Harriet questioned.
Tony smiled and said, "Even though, the life debt probably made you feel like you sold yourself to me. You didn't. I sorta used the life debt to experiment with what a romantic relationship would be like because I was afraid that I would screw up since I never felt like this before and I was trying to be a good boyfriend."
Harriet smiled and said, "Tony, that was years ago. However, I admit that I was nervous as well because I was taken by surprise that you requested it of the life debt. Also, you were such gentleman and not once did you try to get into your bed. You were taking it slow since we were both new to romantic relationships."
"I understand if you don't want to continue this relationship." Tony said.
"Why would I, Tony? Even though before the romantic relationship; you were an excellent friend and you became an excellent boyfriend even though, you used the life debt as way to understand what a romantic relationship was. In a way, we were both learning and in a way, you were also teaching things where I had been out of touch with the Muggle World. You made me a better person and helped along the way." Harriet said.
Tony looked at Harriet with a smile and said, "Thank you, Harriet."
"You're welcome, Tony and this time I will fight with you. What Captain America did was uncalled for." Harriet said.
Tony and Harriet continued talking and coming up with a plan to face those that had sided with Captain America on what he did.
Moments later...
Tony and Harriet made their way to Queen's, New York in his Audi to an apartment. Tony got out of the car first and then he went to open her door. He held out his hand for her to take and he made sure his car was secured; then they entered the apartment building and headed for the apartment that they were looking for.
Tony knocked on the door when they arrived at the apartment.
"Hello?" A woman answered.
"Hi, I am Tony Stark and this is my girlfriend, Harriet." Tony said.
"I'm May Parker." The woman said.
"Do you have a nephew named Peter Parker?" Harriet asked.
"Yes, why?" May questioned.
"Well, Peter sent in an application for an internship at Stark Industries." Tony said.
"Come in and we can talk." May said.
Both Tony and Harriet entered the apartment, and they began talking until Peter came home.
A few minutes later...
Peter came trudging through the door of the apartment and said, "Aunt May, there's a pretty nice car outsi..."
"Peter, how come you didn't tell me that applied for an internship at Stark Industries?" May asked.
Peter was still in shock for seeing Tony Stark in his home and then it clicked at what his Aunt had asked and said, "I wanted it to be a surprise."
"Hello, Peter." Tony said.
"Hello, Mr. Stark." Peter said.
Harriet chuckled at Peter's reaction to seeing her boyfriend in person.
"Um...who are you?" Peter questioned curiously looking at the woman with Mr. Stark.
"My name is Harriet Potter. Tony and I have a friendship but it has turned into something more between us. We've just kept it a secret." Harriet said half truthfully.
"Oh!" Peter said blushing.
"Yeah, it's secret we've kept for a long time." Tony said.
Tony went with Peter to his room to talk in private and Harriet understood what Tony was doing.
Moments later...
Peter found himself going up against half of the Avengers with Mr. Stark and his secret girlfriend; which he was pretty impressed by her fighting skills.
'Who knew Mr. Stark's secret girlfriend could kick ass!' Peter thought to himself.
The fight continued but when Rhodey got hurt; both Tony and Harriet were upset. Harriet immediately started working on trying to heal Rhodey to the best of her ability along with the others that had fought on Tony's side against Captain America.
Meanwhile...
Steve and the others retreated to Wakanda to get healed up. However, Steve wondered who the woman was that fought with Tony because she was quite a fighter and she was skilled in the Medical Field.
Bucky looked at Steve and could tell that he was puzzled and said, "What's up, Steve?"
"The woman that was fighting side by side with Tony. I have seen her before but I have never seen her fight before. Plus, she looked upset with me." Steve said.
T'Challa walked up to Steve and said, "So, do you think that Stark will forgive you?"
"I don't know." Steve said.
"The woman that fought by Mr. Stark; what did she look like?" T'Challa questioned.
"She was quite beautiful and had raven black hair. But her eyes were emerald green and the look she gave was like she wanted smack me across the face." Steve said.
T'Challa was surprised to hear that and asked, "Did she have a scar in the shape of a lighting bolt on her forehead?"
"I don't know. Her bangs cover her forehead, why?" Steve questioned.
"Because if she bares a lighting bolt on her forehead then you met Countess Potter-Black and if she is with Tony Stark there might be a reason." A young female voice said.
T'Challa turned to see his little sister, Shuri walking towards them.
"What do you mean, Shuri?" T'Challa questioned.
"Brother, remember that the Countess has traveled around the world and learned all sorts of fighting styles and she combines it with what she already knows." Shuri said.
Steve was confused but luckily he sent his package to Tony.
Back in New York...
Tony and Harriet were checking on Rhodey at the Avenger compound that he had built with the help of Harriet.
"Is there a Tony Stank here?" The delivery guy asked.
Tony looked at the guy like he was crazy.
"Yeah, this guy right here is Tony Stank." Rhodey said pointing to Tony.
Tony signed for the package and took it to his office at the compound then he opened and read the letter.
"Tony?" Harriet questioned walking inside the office.
"Harriet, he says that he was trying to protect me." Tony said.
"Probably was, Tony but he shouldn't have kept you in the dark like that. What he should've done was tell you once he had learned of it." Harriet said.
"Speaking from experience, love?" Tony asked.
"Yes, but the choice is yours, beloved." Harriet said.
Tony chuckled and said, "We've come a long way, love."
"Yes, we have and it has been interesting, hasn't it, Tony?" Harriet said.
"Yeah, it sure has." Tony said.
