Chapter 4: Demon's Fairy Tail (Fairy Tail)
This chapter is a sequel to chapter 18 from SotM. I had a lot of ideas for it so I'm gonna write them here.
Fiore, Magnolia.
Natsu sat behind his desk, looking over many papers, while signing several others and putting the already written ones behind him as he looked over the reports.
"Moderate property damage, several destroyed fences and a damaged backyard, better than last time. Two days will be enough for her." He said, looking over Cana's report before moving to the next.
"Frozen shed, iced road, several stores having broken windows. A day of cleaning for Gray." Writing it down, he read the next report and sighed at the contents.
"Burned trees, several buildings caught on fire, a large patch of flowers burnt and pavement destroyed in several areas." He looked over other papers on her name, "And who knows how much more. Still better than the last letters detailing complete destruction with no care for consequences. A week or two should be enough for her." He compiled all of her papers and put them away before taking out another set. A knock sounded on his door as he drank from a bottle next to him.
"Come in." The doors opened as Mira came in carrying several stacks of paper.
"Good morning Master! Hope you are in a good mood today." The white haired woman said as Natsu sighed at the increased paperwork.
"Eh, you can say it like that." He looked at the papers, raising an eyebrow at the contents written in them.
"Well, I hope no bad news came in regards to our Guild. Others are sort of anxious to hear what you will say in regards to the requests they made." Mira told him as she took a cup from one of the cupboards in the office and poured him some tea and put it on the table.
"Well, I don't really have anything to say about anyone. It's only been about two weeks, not really enough to do a concrete review on everyone who did quests, much less everyone in the Guild." He took the cup before taking a sip, "Hmm, good brew Mira. You certainly have skill in cooking." Mira slowly nodded at his words.
"Thank you…father." Natsu hid a grimace behind a sip at her tone. His…children hadn't really reacted well to him arriving after a decade and tensions had appeared between him, Elfman and Mira while Lisanna had somewhat warmed up to him. He wished things weren't so awkward like they are now, but he had a lot of work to do if he wanted to get a better relationship with all three of them.
"Say, Mira," She turned to him from the paperwork, "Why do you not go on missions anymore? Given your skill and power I would have assumed you would go on a quest with your siblings." She looked at him for a second before frowning and looking away.
"It's a complicated matter. One that I don't think you need to know right now." Natsu looked at her for several moments before sighing.
"If you want to tell me on your own time then I will understand." He shuffled the Quest pages before finding a familiar name on one of them. Blinking, he took out the paper before reading it. Mira turned and watched curiously as Natsu began to tap his fingers and cupped his chin in thought.
"Seilah." He said aloud, his voice heard throughout the building as Mira heard the mutterings in the Guild Hall quiet down before the doors to the office opened again as the horned demon stepped in.
"Yes, Master Natsu?" The demon asked, stepping up to him and standing in front of his desk as the King of Demons took a sip of his tea.
"Do I have a file on Galuna Island or a Curse of some kind connected with the Island?" Her eyes widened slightly as Mira watched the demon and her pseudo sibling begin to rummage through the cabinets and shelves, looking over some files before taking out a single file and presenting to him.
"Nothing important about any kind of Curse, however the file here does mention Galuna Island." He looked over the papers in the file, cracking his fingers as he read it. Mira watched as he turned over the papers before pointing at the specific part.
"Demon colony." Mira heard him mutter before he turned to the demon, "No other file about the Island? Surely I wrote something about the Island if it has a colony?" Having heard enough, Mira left the office to manage the bar, closing the door behind her.
"I believe these files are back in your office in the Cube. However, there is a chance you put the matter of the Island on one of the memory lacrima so that you wouldn't have so many "unnecessary memories" as you put it. And many of those are locked in a vault that only you can access." Natsu frowned and leaned back on his chair, tapping his index finger on the file.
"How much time would it take to find the file amidst the archives or my office back in the Cube?" Seilah looked away and coughed into her sleeve awkwardly. She looked away as Natsu looked at her weirdly.
"Is something wrong?" He asked, concerned with how she behaved as she looked around before taking a deep breath and shuddering.
"My Lord, there is a slight problem with looking through the archives." He looked at her with a raised eyebrow as the demon searched for the right words, "When you went to leave for the Demon Realm that one time many years ago and left Mard Geer in charge, he ended up destroying many of the files in the office and the archives." She felt fear rise in her body as Natsu gave her a cold look and she forced down a gulp.
"And you didn't save any of the files?" He calmly asked, breaking a portion of the table with his index finger making Seilah flinch as she felt pressure forced upon her from all sides.
"He-He said that the files were a waste of space and time and that he was doing it as a part of your orders." At his unimpressed look, she shivered.
"How many files have been destroyed during that time, Seilah?" The demon heard a scratch as Natsu ruined the table with his ring finger.
"About-About half of the files have been destroyed, only several have been saved but they are badly damaged and missing many pages."
Natsu stared at her with a calm gaze for ten seconds, making Seilah start to fear for her life as a menacing aura appeared around him and cracks started forming in the walls.
"I asked him to sort the files and remove those that have no importance whatsoever, you are telling me he disobeyed my order and destroyed half of the archives which not only held important information about many Demons but also probably the entire history of Earth Land, our Guild and other important matters?!" His voice steadily rose as Seilah took several steps back and nodded her head rapidly in fear, "And you are telling me this now after 300 YEARS have passed and everything changed?!"
Seilah bowed in fear, sitting on hands and knees, her forehead touching the ground.
"Please forgive us Master! We did want to stop him but he threatened to put us on 'revision' if we disobeyed him and even killed four of the Nine Demon Gates and destroyed much of the laboratory, including Lamy! We didn't want to go through that torture and when he said we were disobeying your direct order given to him, we had to follow his commands otherwise we would perish! We tried to save as many files as we could but didn't count that he would destroy that much and when you returned we swore not to reveal the secret otherwise we would face certain death, either at his hand or yours because we cooperated!" She begged as Natsu grabbed her by her neck and forced her to look at him.
"I'm the ONLY one who can put any of you through 'revision', not Mard Geer, not anybody else. You and the others better start hoping that nothing of extreme importance is lost otherwise I will make 'revision' look mild compared to what I will do when I look through the archives. I would understand it if you told me when I returned or maybe a day after, but telling me this after THREE HUNDRED YEARS is inexcusable! Do you understand Seilah?" He coldly asked as the demon nodded while fearing for her life.
"Y-Y-Yes Ma-ast-ter." She stuttered out as Natsu let her go and watched her tremble as he looked back on the file and the mission request. Rubbing his eyes, Natsu took the request and thought about who to send, his eyes looking over to the files of the mages. Taking the files of Gray, Flare, Lucy and Erza he began to wonder, his eyes looking at the reward, raising an eyebrow as he saw that one of them was a Zodiac Key. Hearing sniffles, Natsu looked at Seilah with narrowed eyes, making the demon stiffen as she wondered what kind of punishment he had.
"You don't have any appointment today or for the next several days, right?" He asked her and she nodded.
"N-No, Master. I can p-push the future appointments back, i-if you want t-to." He looked back on the mission request, before nodding.
"Come with me." She followed him as he unintentionally slammed the door open before walking to the railing on the second floor where he could see the mages talking, drinking, dancing or just sitting around. Though many seemed to be somewhat anxious as they saw him on the second floor, he guessed it had to do with the pressure he released or maybe his shouts. Still, he had a quest to give. Looking around the Guild hall, his eyes landed on a table where four mages and an Exceed sat.
"Team Flare!" The four looked up as Natsu gestured for them to come up to the second floor. Erza stood up, gesturing the others to follow as they reluctantly walked up to the second floor, drawing eyes from others while Natsu rolled his eyes at the looks that Thunder Tribe sent him.
"Team Flare here. Is there something you need Master?" Flare asked with a half grin as Natsu nodded and showed them a mission request.
"This is your job." Flare took the flier and showed it to others as they read the description.
"A 7 million Jewel reward? Well, count me in." Gray said, whistling at the number.
"Me too! I kinda need the money for the rent, plus there is a Zodiac Key. Those are really rare." Lucy added as Erza looked at the rank.
"S-class. Good thing I'm here today, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to go there." Erza said, before looking up at Natsu, "We'll take this mission."
"Take Seilah with you." Natsu said, surprising them including Seilah as she heard his words.
"Master, are you sure that-" At his cold look, she stopped.
"Consider this your punishment, I expect you to get all the info about the island Seilah." The four raised eyebrows as Seilah nodded.
"As you wish, Master." Erza looked at her fearful face, before looking at Natsu.
"Is there something we should know?" Erza asked as Natsu looked at her.
"Apparently I did something on the Island or it had something important in it so I'm sending Seilah to gather full information because the files on it have been destroyed in an accident 300 years ago. She's also there to help you in case things go south, gather up and head out in three days. Good luck with your mission." The team nodded as they left to gather necessary stuff for the mission as Seilah quickly left to the library not meeting the eyes of her fellow Etherious, most of whom had anxious looks as they heard his words.
"Nine Demon Gates." They flinched at Natsu's cold tone and turned to see him send them an angry look, "Meet me in my office after Seilah leaves. We have a long overdue talk about destroying archives." They gulped in fear at his glowing eyes as he left for his office, leaving the Guild confused as to what happened.

"Are you okay?" Lucy asked Flare who stood next to the edge of the boat with an uneasy look.
"I'm-I'm fine. E-Erza's magic is working…but only at about…half the power…Not as bad as without it though." Flare said, uncomfortably trying to fight vertigo as Erza sighed.
"Unfortunately, one of the drawbacks. I'm not really skilled enough in using Troia and continued usage will cause immunity on the spell. I'd rather not risk that." Erza said, walking over to stand next to Flare and patting her back as the girl couldn't hold it and vomited over the boat.
"S-So mister Bobo," The man who lent them the boat looked up, "You said Galuna Island had some sort of Curse on it." He nodded, looking back on the sea.
"The Curse is the reason why many don't want to go to the island or make a voyage to it, even pirates avoid the island, not wishing to get themselves cursed. The inhabitants of the island can't leave because of it as well. You are the first mages to respond to the mission request as no one else took it before." He told them as Seilah narrowed her eyes.
"You are one of the natives of the island aren't you?" She asked/stated as Bobo nodded, "How did you manage to leave the island then?" He sighed as he looked at the horizon where the island could be seen.
"I had some help using the Magic that was once left on the island. It took considerable effort and an…unpleasant situation happening but I managed to do it."
"What exactly is this curse?" Gray asked, putting out a cigarette as Bobo rolled up his sleeve and showed them his demon arm. Lucy freaked out while the others had interesting looks or narrowed eyes, seeing the arm. Seilah had an intrigued look, sensing how unnatural the rest of his body felt compared to the arm.
"This is the curse, even after leaving the island, it still has a hold on me." A shadow began to appear over them and the mages looked back to see a giant wave coming at them, "Please, save my people."
The wave crashed at the boat, pushing it towards the island's beach.
"So is this the place?" Lucy asked Seilah who nodded as she looked at the wooden walls around the village. Several torches lit near the walls to provide light in the evening as day began to turn to night.
"There are no other settlements on the island so I assume that the people who sent the request are in this village."
"Let's just get this over with." Gray said as he went to the gates and banged on them, "Hello, is anyone there?! We are here for the mission!" After several moments, a man appeared on top of the gates.
"Are you the mages sent for the job?" He asked.
"Yes, we are mages of Fairy Tail! Our Guild Master sent us to do the job!" Flare replied as another villager appeared next to the one who asked the question.
"Prove that you are mages and not pirates or some other scum!" Erza showed the blue emblem on her left arm, while Flare pulled her shirt's neck down a little to show the red emblem on her cleavage and Gray removed his shirt to show the one on his left peck. Lucy showed her forearm as Seilah moved her kimono a little to show the black Fairy Tail emblem next to one of Inferno. Seeing the Guild marks, the two men became happy.
"They are real! They are the real deal! Finally, we got some much needed help!" One of them said as the other nodded.
"Yeah, I certainly never saw boobs that big!" He exclaimed, causing the others to sweat drop at his words while Lucy covered herself.
"Don't just say it like that!" She shouted at him as the man sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.
"Heh, sorry. We'll open the gate now!" He said as the two went to open the gates letting the mages in, "Follow us, we'll get you to the chief." The group of five followed the two as villagers came out to see who came to their home. Seeing the mages, many began to whisper as the five noticed that many seemed to hide some of their limbs or features behind cloaks, making them wonder what happened.
Seilah noticed the looks many sent towards her, in particular, her horns, whispering and wondering who she was. She narrowed her eyes, wondering why this place seemed familiar.
'Have I been here before?' She thought to herself as the chief of the village came up to them, 'Why does he remind of someone?'
"Greetings and welcome to Galuna Island. I'm Moka, the chief of this village. Are you the mages sent here to help us?" He asked, receiving a nod in return.
"Our Guild Master sent us here to help you and he also believes this Island holds something important so we are here with two goals in mind really. Can you tell us what you needed help with?" Erza replied as Moka nodded.
"Very well then. However, instead of telling you, let me show you the problem." He turned his head to his people, removing his cloak, "Villagers!"
As one they removed their cloaks, showing the mages their various demonic parts, scaring Lucy somewhat while the others looked on in surprise before remembering Bobo's words.
"So that's what that man with the boat meant." Seilah said quietly to herself, noting how unnatural the villagers seemed to be.
"Is this the curse that everyone told us about in Hargeon?" Flare asked Moka who gave a surprised nod.
"By your reactions, I assume that something like this is a norm given how only one of you seemed scared."
"One of our mages and friends has Magic that allows her to turn into different kinds of demons. Our new Guild members are also demons so this doesn't really surprise us anymore." Gray told him, surprising Moka slightly before he cleared his throat.
"Yes, well as you can see our village and this entire island is affected by this curse. Not even animals are safe as they also possess these kinds of limbs." Seilah narrowed her eyes at his words, sensing something awry.
'Something like this could not have gone unnoticed.'
"Are you sure this is a curse? Maybe it's a disease or some sort of Magic gone awry? Granted, Take over Magic on this kind of scale is kind of ridiculous but it wouldn't be the first time something like this happened." Erza asked him, remembering the stories her mother told her of the Dragon Slayer disease that happened after many dragons died with their corpses left unchecked. Wildlife and people mutated into draconic abominations that terrorized the land and made things worse.
"We checked with our doctors, they found no trace of any kind of illness, as for Magic, none of us here can wield it properly, even then we would have had mastered it by now and I don't believe we would have something like this happening to us." He gestured to the villagers as the four frowned.
"Do you have at least any idea on what kind of curse it is then? Or any sign of it happening in the first place?" Lucy asked him and he nodded.
"The moon." He replied pointing towards the sky towards the rising moon. Then to the shock of the five, the moon turned purple. Screams of pain followed as the mages looked back to the villagers and saw them transform. Their human features disappeared as they all turned to demons.
"What is going on?!" Lucy screamed seeing all the events happen.
"This is the curse that I mentioned." Moka said, now a purple demon, "You see, Galuna Island has a history of being subjected to the influence of the moon, making it shine almost as much as the moon itself. However, several years ago, the moon turned purple."
"This never happened to the moon on the mainland." Gray said, looking at the moon again.
"Only on our island does something like this happen. We are not sure why the moon turned purple or why it even does this to us but we do know that it all points to the moon itself being the culprit." Amidst the group, Seilah kept staring at the moon, feeling that something was missing, not to mention the very color of the moon being an important factor.
"And so we have decided that in order to get rid of the curse…is to destroy the moon itself." His words earned him wide-eyed stares from the four mages as Seilah's head snapped towards him.
"That cannot be done, in any way." She told him flatly, "Only several beings on this planet have the magic and capability to do so and none of them are here. Furthermore, it's generally not a good idea to execute, even worse is the potential aftermath."
"But it will free us from this curse-" Moka began.
"And then kill you moments after." Seilah cut him off as she pointed to the moon, "The moon isn't there just for beautiful nights, it is still a celestial body in space with a considerable influence on our planet. I could go on about all the things that would go wrong if you do decide to, somehow, destroy the moon but let me just say that falling debris the size of a nation destroying most life on the planet will be the least of your problems." She told him as Moka considered her words and paled.
"Then-Then what do you propose?" He asked as Seilah looked up at the purple moon.
"We will investigate the cause of the curse and the reason why the moon turns purple at night. Give us about three to five days to scour the island and see if we can find anything linking your transformations to the moon. Are there any structures on this island that you can tell us about?" She asked as Moka pointed over the village.
"We haven't left outside the village in a while so most of our memories are hazy but there should be some structures of some ancient civilization left. If you need more help, there is a library. But I plead that you hurry. Some of us already lost our souls to demonic forms, I fear that it won't be long before we all lose our souls." He pleaded as the mages nodded.
"We won't let you down, chief." Gray said as the team left to find information and stop whatever plagued the island.
"So, what do you propose we do?" Flare asked Erza who shook her head.
"Honestly, I'm not sure. It's clear there is some kind of magic in play here, but I've never seen magic capable of doing something like this."
"It is strange indeed." Seilah spoke up, looking at the moon, "I can't help but feel like I've seen something like this before." She took out a notebook, writing down all she could as a report for her Master.
"You lived longer than most of us and Master did say that Galuna Island has something important. Maybe your memories are coming back? Surely you Etherious have been here once?" Gray asked her as he took out a gum and chewed on it, fighting down an urge to smoke after having done so for the day.
"We usually don't try to remember matters like these. If we did, we wrote them down in files, but we lost half of those 300 years ago. That's why I'm here and taking notes."
"We won't find anything just standing here, let's go find some clues!" Flare told them as she walked towards the direction of the library as the others followed her.
Gray clenched his fists as he looked at the sight before him. A temple stood in front of him and the rest of his team, several magic circles on it as the moon shined down a light on the top of the temple. On the very top itself however, stood an ice structure of an incredibly large beast.
"What is that thing?" Lucy asked from behind him as Seilah narrowed her eyes.
"Deliora." Gray answered as he took out a cigarette and shakily lit it to calm his nerves. Taking a drag and feeling himself relax slightly, he looked back at the temple, "A demon that attacked and destroyed multiple villages and killed countless innocent. It nearly killed me and Ur nearly a decade ago."
"Why is he frozen then?" Lucy asked again.
"My father used a spell called "Iced Shell" to trap the demon and sacrificed himself to stop its rampage." He took another drag of the cigarette and exhaled, "Never thought I'd see the bastard here of all places, especially since he was last seen in my old village."
"So that's what happened to him then." Seilah stated, looking at the trapped demon, "The traitor demon trapped in ice by humans. A fitting punishment for him."
Her words drew looks from others.
"Traitor demon?" Lucy asked.
"Did he do something to uncle Natsu?" Erza asked the horned demon who nodded.
"Deliora was once one of the lieutenants in Master's army back during the Demonic War. However, he betrayed Master during the height of the War and gave his enemies classified information such as locations of strategic importance, several forbidden artifacts and even attacked anyone allied to Master. One time he gave information about where the Master resided to ambush and kill him. The attack failed and when the Master found out, he was furious. He personally punished Deliora by destroying most of his mind, reducing him to a mindless rampaging demon spawn, disgracing him for all demons to see and casting him out of the Demon Realm into the mortal realm."
By the end of her tale, all of the mages had shocked looks, none more than Gray as his cigarette fell out of his mouth.
"You mean, all the rampage he caused and lives he took was because of the Master?" Gray asked, slowly getting angry.
"We did not expect that he would survive for so long. We were certain that he would die to creatures stronger than him or die at the hands of humans he hated so much. But to think that he had been imprisoned for the last decade, the Master will certainly be interested in this." She wrote down everything as Erza put a hand on Gray's shoulder just as he began to walk towards Seilah.
"Gray, don't do this." She told him as he looked at her.
"Erza, I lost my parents because of Deliora. You are telling me not to get angry because of what I learned?" He asked her as she shook her head.
"No, but attacking her won't do you any good. One, she's stronger than you, two, you aren't in the right state of mind now, three, we need to find out what's going on here." Gray glared at Seilah who gave him one in return before he huffed and calmed down, "And put your shirt back on please."
The young man sighed as he went to pick up his discarded clothes back on.
"Is the moon emitting magic or is it something else?" Lucy asked, looking at the purple moon.
"Not sure. We don't really know the full purpose of the moon nor how it appeared. Perhaps it does have some sort of magic that we don't know about." Flare replied as Seilah looked back at the moon.
"Perhaps the problem isn't the moon." She said as she pointed at the top of the temple, "Perhaps there is something wrong with the island itself." The others looked at where she pointed and their eyes widened.
"No way!"
"Holy shit!"
"That's awesome!"
"Unreal."
"Chief Moka, I believe we know what to do with this 'curse'." Erza told the chief who had a hopeful look on his face.
"What is it?! Please tell us!" He pleaded in his demon form as Seilah held up a notebook with everything written inside.
"I believe that the entire Island is suffering a kind of drawback of a high level spell. This spell utilizes Moon's magical power but it has a chance of leaving a type of magical residue after a long period of time." She pointed to a drawing of the island and the moon before gesturing to the sky, "This is the reason why the moon looks purple only here." The eyes of the villagers widened as they heard her explanation.
"Can you stop this spell? Or reverse the drawback?" Moka asked as Seilah sighed.
"We can but it's not so simple. The problem here is that the Island is under the effects of TWO different kinds of spells, not just one." She said, shocking them, "The first spell is ancient and extremely important, thus we can't and won't do anything to dispel or harm it, the second spell however is a bit tricky as its destruction has a chance to cause some harm to the first spell."
Her explanation made half of the island wallow in despair as Moka began to get desperate.
"How big is the chance? What margin of error do we have?" Seilah listed another page.
"By the writings that I found and the estimates of the power of the two spells, about 95 percent. If we want to stop the second spell, we have only one chance. Are you willing to take it?" She asked the village chief. Moka looked down on the ground in thought, looking up at his people and his body, he took a deep breath and looked up at her.
"Do it." She nodded and turned to the mages.
"Get all the ingredients ready and prepare a circle as depicted here." She gave Erza her notebook as the redhead looked at the circle and nodded before requipping a sword and beginning to make a circle on the ground.
"Please stand back, this is a very delicate ritual." Seilah told the villagers who all moved back, letting the mages do their thing with Erza finishing the outer circle before moving to the inside of it. Flare and Lucy began to put the ingredients in the circle in a correct pattern while Gray created a small altar for Seilah to place a book on before creating an ice barrier to shield the villagers.
"It's done." Erza said, giving the notebook back as Seilah walked to the center of the circle and placed the book on the altar.
"For this ritual to work, I need complete silence so I ask that no one make a sound." Waiting for a moment for anyone to say something, Seilah then cleared her throat and opened the book.
"Ancients hear me, for I call upon you." She began as a slight breeze appeared, chilling some of the villagers, a slight glow emitting from the book.
"A loyal servant asks for favor, to remove an ancient spell." The circle began to glow as well as Seilah stopped speaking coherently and began to mumble in an ancient language. The book began to levitate as she kept speaking all the while the circle glowed brighter and brighter.
'What is going on?' Moka thought as he saw the book glow bright while the woman kept chanting. Seilah began to chant louder as the book shook while energy seeped out of it.
"ARCANUM DIAVOLO!" Seilah shouted the last part as blue energy shot out from the book towards the moon as the villagers looked on in shock and hoped it would work. As the energy neared the sky and seemingly touched the moon, it spread over the sky, blue lightning dancing as it spread in patterns. The sound of something creaking reverberated throughout the island as the animals let out their cries while the sky turned blue.
And with a loud SHATTERING sound, the sky broke like a mirror, the purple color removed and the moon became normal as glass like shards fell and disappeared.
"EEEEHHHHH!" The villagers shouted as they saw what happened.
"What just happened? What did you do?!" Moka asked Seilah as he neared her as the Etherious turned to him and opened her notebook.
"The civilization that lived here before had left behind a kind of magic spell called 'Moon Drip' in one of their temples shortly after the moon came to be. This spell came to be when Galuna Island was a series of many islands rather than one and when its people were at war with each other and those from the main lands. Its purpose was to weaken mages, making them either useless or simply not allowing them to use magic." She pointed at several drawings and writings they found, surprising the villagers.
"What happened after that then? Why did it affect us and transform us?" One of the guards asked as Seilah pointed a finger at the sky.
"See the disappearing purple dome?" They looked up and nodded, "The original civilization that made the spell had gone extinct when you came here, but the spell was still in effect. It had been left alone for so long that eventually it left magical residue that formed a dome, which affected much of the Island. The most interesting effect however is what it did with magic that allowed one to transform and the mental effect on non-human creatures."
"Transform? Non-human? What are you saying?" Moka asked as someone came up behind him.
"When you said that the moon turned you all into demons at night, I didn't believe you. In fact, I could sense that you either lied to use or had wrong information. It was then that I had several questions concerning your story that we realized all the answers we needed."
"What is this question?" The guard next to Moka asked as Gray came up to them, putting on his discarded shirt and pulling out a cigarette.
"Do you remember anything before you began to transform into demons?" His question froze Moka, "Do you remember being human before this whole incident? Do you have any memories where the information contradicted everything you thought you knew? Have you thought that things may not be as they seem?"
Moka opened his mouth to answer, only to stop as he repeated the questions, eyes wide as he looked at his hands and then at his villagers who all seemed to have the same realization as him.
"I…I don't remember. I have no memories of being human before the moon became purple." He answered as Seilah nodded.
"If you truly did have a curse chief Moka, then you wouldn't have been trying to reach for help. If anything, you would have lost your soul after six months at best and three months at worst and would not be trying to be human again. Demons, especially low tier demons, don't work like that, they fool humans and follow base instincts such as fighting, eating and breeding and if the curse had been active for several years as you say it was, the entire Island would have been long overrun. Furthermore, all of you turning into demons at once, point towards all of you having a type of transformation magic, which I mentioned before suffered strange effects due to the Moon Drip. You being human with demon parts in daylight and turning to demons in the night isn't a sign of a curse, but rather a malfunctioning transformation magic and your memories being affected, likely due to you being a non-human creature." Seilah explained, pointing to the notebook, then at the village and the island.
"I still do not understand." Moka said as he tried to understand what was happening.
"Put it simply, Chief Moka," Erza continued as she stood next to Gray and Seilah, "The moon affected your memories and bodies because none of you are human. You have never been human, you were always demons, the spell affected your memory and magic, not only making you believe you were something else but also amplifying your negative emotions, making any logical conclusion seem like you lost your mind."
"With the spell no more though, you will remember everything and regain control of your magic." Flare told him as Moka felt as if fog had been cleared from his mind. The memories came back and his eyes widened as he looked up.
"By the Demon Realm, it's true." He said as he began to smile, "I remember now, I'm Molakarn, chief of the Gallant Luna tribe!" He shouted as the rest of the villagers began to remember as well. Soon cheers erupted across the village as the inhabitants began to celebrate.
"Father." Molakarn turned around and saw his son standing behind him. He smiled as he walked up to him.
"My son, you have returned, you fulfilled your promise." The chief hugged his son who hugged him back.
"I told you I would save us. Though the only thing that I did was just bring people here to help." Molakarn chuckled and let go of his son.
"You still brought help and saved us. You will be a fine chief one day." He told him before turning to the mages and clearing his throat, "Thank you mages for returning everything to normal, I fear what would have happened if the drawbacks went on longer."
"We are happy to help, chief. Do you mind if we spend the night before leaving tomorrow?" Erza asked as Molakarn smiled.
"Of course. You did your job after all. Speaking of which," He turned to one of the guards, "Bring the reward here along with the additional prize." The guard nodded and ran back to the chief's house, before returning with a case and handed it over to his chief.
"As promised, 7 million Jewels," He gave the case to Erza who opened it. Seeing the money, she closed it and nodded as Molakarn took out something from his robe, "And a Zodiac key." Lucy's eyes widened with glee as she saw it.
"Are you sure you want to give it away? It is very rare." She asked the chief who shook his head.
"None of us here can wield magic required to use it. It is better suited for you as someone who actually carries Celestial Keys. Take it." The blonde happily accepted the key, grinning as she saw the sign.
"Sagittarius! Oh I always wanted another long range option." She cheered as Molakarn chuckled before his gaze went to Seilah and his eyes widened at seeing the Inferno Guild Mark on her waist.
"That mark…" He pointed at it, getting everyone's attention, "It can't be. Does that mean that you are…?" He asked as Seilah put her notebook away.
"I'm Etherious Seilah, one of the Nine Demon Gates, the Goddess of Chill Moon, loyal servant of our King and a member of Inferno and Fairy Tail."
Molakarn's eyes widened as he took a step back…before, to the shock of the village, kneeled before her.
"All Hail the master of the Demon Realm, our savior, Demon King E.N.D!" He shouted loudly for the whole village to hear, his forehead nearly touching the ground. The villagers stood quiet for a second before they all bowed down.
"THANKS BE TO OUR SAVIOR, THE DEMON KING E.N.D!"
"EHH?! What are they doing?!" Lucy asked, confused by their actions.
"Do you remember how I mentioned a Demonic War and how Deliora was a lieutenant?" Seilah asked them as they nodded, "Well, during the war the demon army that he was given command of were part of a tribe called 'Blood Moon', known for their ferocity in battle. When he betrayed Master and Master later banished him, the whole tribe were disgraced for following the traitor demon, after which they were hunted down and more than half of their members have been killed by other demons. However, as they still showed loyalty to the Master at the time, he showed them mercy and instead of exterminating their tribe, he sent them to Earth Land where he found a set of islands for them to inhabit. The native humans didn't want to live among demons however so they started a war with them, though Master ended up destroying most of the islands, leaving only this island for the 'Blood Moon' tribe to colonize." She pointed at the villagers.
"The villagers here are descendants of that tribe, the name was simply changed from 'Blood Moon' to 'Gallant Luna' which is why the island is known as Galuna and why they are more civilized compared to other demons." She finished the tale, flooring the mages.
"Wow, to think that people here used to be more ferocious." Gray said, looking at the peaceful villagers.
"We simply had no reason to be ferocious young mages." Molakarn stated as he crossed his arms, "With no enemies left on the island and no precious resources to invade us for, we simply had no fights or battles so we curbed down our bloodlust before it got out of control and began to live more peacefully. Although we are still capable in battle." He said, flexing his arm, causing many of the demons to chuckle.
"With your presence here, I assume that Lord E.N.D himself will come here someday?" He asked Seilah who nodded, "Very well, we will have everything prepared for when that day comes, but right now, LET US FEAST!" The villagers cheered as the chefs began to prepare food and drinks while others began to play music and prepare the tables.
The mages looked at each other before smiling as they joined the demons in celebration while Seilah looked at the extensive history she had written down before looking towards the temple where Deliora's body was.
'Pray for a quick death Deliora for Master will grant you none.' She thought as she joined the mages, never noticing that something in the trees watched her intently before disappearing.
"Well that was one interesting quest don't you think, Lucy?" Flare asked the blonde, playfully punching her in the arm. The blonde grinned at her partner as she held up Sagittarius' key.
"It definitely was interesting. I even got a Zodiac Key out of it. Though it was surprisingly easy for a S-class mission." She said as Erza chuckled.
"That's because the details made it seem more dangerous. We had little to no threats on that island and we also had Seilah there so that definitely helps." The Etherious looked up from her book.
"Your strength would have been enough Erza, after all, you are certainly powerful as the bi-weekly training sessions show. My presence was only required due to loss of important information so don't expect me or other Etherious to come with you again." She bluntly told them as they walked through the market on their way to the Guild where many people gave them pitying looks.
"Poor mages." One person said as Flare's ear twitched.
"Shame what happened to their Guild." Another said as the mages gave them confused looks.
"What are they talking about?" Lucy asked the others as she and the others arrived at the Guild. Looks of shock appeared on their faces as they saw the sight before them. Their Guild had massive metal rods coming out of it, some parts of the Guild collapsed while their flag lay on the ground.
"What the Hell?!" Flare shouted as fire erupted from her mouth, "WHO THE HELL DID THIS?!" She screamed, setting herself aflame as Lucy stepped away to not get burns while Gray and Erza had angered expressions.
"Guys!" The group turned to see Lisanna walking towards them from inside the guild while holding some chairs, "Can you help out here?" Behind her Elfman walked out while holding a lot of tables, carefully placing them away from the destroyed building.
"Lisanna. Elfman." Flare sighed in relief as she walked towards the two siblings, "What happened to our Guild? Who caused this?!" She asked as the siblings looked away.
"Phantom Lord." Lisanna told her as more mages took chairs and tables out of the building, "They attacked at night and did this to the building." The white haired girl sighed sadly.
"Phantom Lord? But why? I mean, I know we have a kind of rivalry going on but this is taking it too far!" Flare said as her team joined her.
"Yeah, this does seem to be a bit too much. Usually we don't come to do something like this." Gray agreed as he was in the middle of taking off his jacket.
"We aren't too sure why they decided to do it." Elfman answered as he took half the crates from Alzack and put them down, "All we know is that one of the Element 4 had probably done it and left. They were either drunk or took out their anger on our Guild." He guessed as he went to get more stuff out of the building.
"Wait, why didn't uncle Natsu or other demons prevent this from happening?" Erza asked as Mira came out holding many bottles and food.
"Master was absent when it happened, something about an important business and the demons were sent on errands after you left. They only arrived this morning and, well…"
"When I get my hands on the brat who did this!" a voice sounded out from within the building, making the mages wince as one of the metal poles disintegrated while another was sliced to pieces and fell inside the building as some of the mages hurried out while carrying more stuff outside.
"Oh so that's why you are moving things out the building." Seilah said, seeing Ezel's curse slice some of the poles.
"Yeah, father is trying to fix the damage with the other Etherious, removing the poles is the easier job, but we'll have to get everything in the basement once the poles are removed." Lisanna replied as the poles began to fall or disintegrate one by one before all of them were gone. Natsu came out of the building looking angry yet composed as he pinched the bridge of his nose before looking at the mages.
"All right, everyone, get everything in the basement. We will try to fix what we can, if things go well, the Guild will be back to normal in about two weeks. If not, we'll have to rebuild it from scratch." He said as the mages all began everything into the basement while Natsu began to overlook the plans.
"Assess the damage and give me an idea on all that needs to be done." He told Kyoka who nodded and left, "Find some of the older blueprints if they are still there and bring them to me." He told Jackal who went to the ruined office.
"Torazufar, remove what can't be fixed and get the debris out." The large demon went inside as Natsu sighed and went to the basement, "The rest, help them." The Etherious went to work as Natsu entered the basement, took a chair and sat down next to a table.
"Responsibilities of a demon Guild Master never end it seems." He muttered while putting his hand on his face as Lisanna came up to him.
"Here father." She said as she put a mug of beer on his table.
"That doesn't really help me as much as it would normal humans, but thank you Lisanna." Natsu said as he downed the mug in one go.
"You want another one? Maybe some food?" She asked and he nodded.
"Might as well, I need something to calm me down." She left to get him another mug as Team Flare came up to him.
"So, what are we gonna do about this situation?" Gray asked as he came up to Natsu while taking out a cigarette as Natsu sighed.
"Nothing." He replied as Lisanna came up with a tray of food and another mug of strong beer.
"Nothing?! What do you mean, nothing?! We can't just ignore what those Phantom Lord bastards did!" Flare shouted at him as Natsu took a bite of his steak.
"What I meant is that YOU will do nothing. While I'm angry at myself for what happened to the guild, it's nothing to fuss over."
"What?" Gray asked, his lighter inches away from the cigarette.
"Have any of you noticed any injuries on other mages?" The four looked around, noticing that aside from a sad mood, everyone seemed to be fine.
"You mean no one was hurt?" Lucy asked as Natsu nodded.
"Yeah, the guild was empty when they attacked, and while what they did counts as vandalism and destruction of property, the matter in question will be handled by the Magic Council or at the next Guild Master meeting. We can't just barge in their guild and do the same to their HQ, otherwise we will be guilty as well."
"What will we do before that?" Flare asked, still angry.
"Until then you do nothing. However, considering the implications of this being an unprovoked assault, I ask that you all stick together for the time being. If they did this to our Guild out of petty rivalry, I suspect they will do much worse in the near future." He stood up.
"Everyone, please pay attention!" The mages turned to him as he cleared his throat, "Due to what happened to our Guild and the possible reasons for it happening, many of you might be in danger of unprovoked attack from Phantom Lord. From now on, until this whole situation blows over, I ask that you all stick together in groups. That way, you will at least have a fighting chance in case of an ambush or assault by the Phantom Lord." The mages nodded as Natsu sat back down and took a gulp of his beer.
"Is there another reason why you won't do anything?" Lucy asked as Natsu looked at her before sighing.
"The treaty." He simply answered, drawing a look of understanding from Erza and confusion from others.
"Uh, what treaty?" Flare asked, scratching the back of her head in confusion.
"A treaty that I signed after the Demon War." He said as he leaned back in his chair, "A long time ago, humanity was at war with Dragons, the sheer amount of magic used at the time made ripples in the planet from which the demons from Demon realm were able to set foot on Earth Land once more. I…was power hungry at the time due to the effect of the Demon Realm so I invaded Earth Land with my armies. Humanity and Dragonkin, already at war with each other, had to fight us as well, forcing them to agree on an alliance to ward off our armies. Suffice it to say, with Dragons and other creatures of Earth Land fighting against us, the war became the most devastating in the history of the planet. By the time it ended, nearly fifty percent of the magical creatures on Earth Land had been wiped out, many places became wastelands or sank underwater or collapsed while Dragons nearly went extinct. We suffered casualties as well though not as devastating as the humans or other creatures." He told them showing illustrations with his illusionary abilities putting the mages at awe.
"Wow." Gray said, his cigarette dropping at the sheer scale of the war.
"How did it stop?" Happy asked as he flew up to Flare's shoulder.
"Well, with me coming on Earth Land at the end of the war and free from Demon Realm's effects after fighting the strongest opponents they had, I saw that the war was going nowhere and decided to propose a treaty with the humans. Surprisingly, they agreed and we signed a treaty in which we would not attack each other again. I asked for diplomatic immunity and a chance to create a Guild, promising I would not harm any innocents and they don't attack me or any of my own members." He explained while pulling a copy of the treaty out.
"So what you are saying is that because they didn't harm any members, you can't retaliate less you break the treaty and cause tensions that may lead to another war." Gray said after putting out the fallen cigarette.
"Yes, however, if they do attack and harm any of you, they will be the ones to violate the treaty, allowing me to strike back in the form of Guild War." Natsu finished as he returned to his meal, "Let's just hope none of them are idiotic enough to do that and that their Guild Master acts as a responsible adult."
That cheered the mages somewhat as some began to play music to lighten the mood as the Etherious came down to the basement to report the damages and what needed to be done.
"Alright uncle, we will trust you." Erza said before looking at her team, "So whose place will we stay in for today?"
As they discussed the situation, Seilah came up to him while holding her notebook in hand and he turned to her, "Did you bring all the info about the island?"
"Yes, Master. The Island is a colony for a demon tribe that once served you and it used to be larger until you nearly destroyed it, but the other thing is more surprising." Seilah told him as she handed him the notebook. Natsu quickly read the contents, humming in thought.
"Gallant Luna, huh? Guess I will have to pay them a visit and-Oh." He turned over a page and noticed the picture of a certain traitor, "Interesting. How did he appear there?" He wondered looking at the info.
"I believe that someone else brought him to the island. From what Fullbuster told me, he was sealed in a remote village, not on the island."
Natsu tapped his finger on the notebook before closing it and putting it away.
"Very well, I will go to the island and see what I can do, you are dismissed. Go help the others." Seilah bowed to him as she left to help her fellow Etherious leaving the Demon King to ponder over the information.
Just then, the door to the basement opened as Makarov came up to Natsu with a horrified look.
"What the hell happened to the Guild Natsu?! I thought you kept the brats from going overboard?!" The short man asked as Natsu sighed.
"For the record, they had nothing to do with it, it was Phantom Lord. Possibly a drunk mage who decided to vent his frustrations on the Guild." He downed the rest of his food with the beer, "Second, it was an attack in the middle of the night, no one was hurt, so no need to take action right now."
Makarov stood surprised before he sighed and sat on a chair opposite to Natsu.
"Phantom Lord, sometimes I wonder if they take our rivalry too seriously. Especially that youngster Jose, who does he think he is to do something like this?" Lisanna came up to him and gave him a mug of beer as Natsu shrugged.
"Overconfident brats will always overstep once they have a taste of power. I had to deal with my fair share during my years as Inferno's Guild Master."
"Will you do anything against them? They did wreck the place and it holds a special place for you as Mavis' creation." Makarov asked as he took a gulp of his mug.
"No, as much as I want to teach a lesson to the brat who did this, I'm not going to storm their Guild or attack them because they trashed the guild. At best, I can report the incident to the Magic Council and let them deal with it or talk to Jose personally and warn him to have a better control of his mages or tell him not to try this again." Natsu replied.
"You do realize they might try something like this again, right?" Makarov asked.
"So long as they don't attack any of my mages or demons, I won't retaliate. A Guild Hall can be rebuilt, the people in it are more important," Natsu replied as he turned to glare at the wall.
"And if they attack the mages?" Makarov pressed further before he heard a chuckle from Natsu that echoed around the Guild and put many of the mages on edge.
"If those fools do harm my mages and demons," Natsu turned to him with glowing hate filled eyes.
"I will teach them a lesson they will never forget."
In the commotion, no one noticed a single mage slip away from the basement and leave the Guild.
"Hey Gajeel, heard you attacked the Fairy Tail Guild." A Phantom Lord mage said as he approached a black haired man eating several metal objects, "Nice job! I bet their morale is low right now. Serves them right for thinking they are better than us!"
He got a punch to the face when he tried to put a hand on Gajeel's shoulder.
"Didn't I tell you not to bother me when I'm eating?" Gajeel said as he ate several metal bolts. The man had a scar down his face as he sat wearing an attire that belonged to a gladiator rather than a mage, "Besides, why do we care about some Fairies? We are strong enough on our own." He said glaring at most of his Guild mates.
"Still, you did an excellent job Gajeel." Jose said as he stood on a railing and came out of the shadows, "The seed has been sown and soon enough the fairies will crumble."
"They aren't gonna come out just because you destroyed the Guild, Master." Gajeel pointed out, "I'm still not sure why you wanted me to do this and frankly I don't think I want to know but why are you so adamant about this rivalry?"
Jose chuckled darkly as he turned to Gajeel.
"Worry not Gajeel. Destroying the Guild is but phase one of the plan. I know that just wrecking their little cage will do little, but I did want to leave a little…present so to speak."
Gajeel raised an eyebrow as the doors to the Guild opened and two people came in. One was a green haired man with a monocle on one of his eyes wearing a brown suit while the other was a massive man with a blindfold on his eyes and a hat on his head wearing a green coat over an orange shirt and a loose pair of pants. Both looked satisfied as if they had done something of importance.
"The deed is done Master Jose." Aria said as he went to sit on one of the chairs. Gajeel saw blood from his knuckles.
"The fuck did you two do?" The Dragon Slayer asked his guild mates as Sol wiped his knuckles.
"Nothing that should bother you, monsieur Gajeel. We simply paid some of the fairies a little visit." Sol answered as Gajeel narrowed his eyes, before he took a whiff and felt the smell on them as his eyes widened.
"You sick fucks." He said as he grabbed Sol by his neck and brought him face to face with a snarl, "What the hell do you think you are doing?! We are mages, warriors, not scum who prey on the weak like Dark Mages!" He snarled at Sol, slightly scaring him and tightening his grip.
"Calm yourself Gajeel." Aria said, putting a hand on Gajeel's shoulder causing the Dragon Slayer to look at him with an angry scowl, "It is but another step of Master Jose's plan and a benefit to us."
"What plan? This isn't a plan, it's an easy way to get yourself in jail, because that's the only thing that I can see right now." Gajeel told him as he stomped up to him, still holding Sol, "I didn't join a band of weaklings who prey on helpless women just to satisfy their lust and bruised egos. I joined you because I believed you all to be strong."
"We are strong Gajeel." Jose said from behind him as he stepped out of the shadows, "We are possibly the strongest Guild in Fiore, and we will be once the pesky fairies are put down. Now let go of Sol before you make me angry." Gajeel glared at Jose for a little longer before he released Sol's neck, letting the man breathe.
"Why are you so adamant on this rivalry? Tell me the truth." Jose grinned creepily as Gajeel clenched his fist for a possible fight.
"Phantom Lord has always been a pinnacle of might for the mages of Fiore, always the strongest, always having the mightiest mages. It has been like that for many years since the first Guild Master created the Guild. Every Guild Master since then has always made sure that it stays that way, that no one usurps us. Yet now, a shitty weak little Guild started by weaklings dares to stand as our equals, their Guild Master an old man past his prime who brags about the strength of his Guild and mages and whose leniency with his Guild brings shame to the very title of a Guild Master. His brats being the worst examples of mages that I ever saw in my life." Jose's grin turned into an angry snarl as his magic power started fluctuating, causing shadows to appear.
Gajeel narrowed his eyes at the beginning of the tale, his eyes slowly getting wider as he saw everyone agree with Jose. He grit his teeth as he listened to Jose ramble on.
"Worst of all is that now they have a powerful new Guild Master and with him our position as the strongest, one that we earned through blood and trials is about to be taken from us, all because he knew the previous Guild Master." Gajeel's eyes widened before they narrowed as he looked at Jose with a scowl.
"And you had me destroy a Guild and then had Aria and Sol attack and rape one of them just because you couldn't stand someone being better than us?" Gajeel asked coldly as Jose snarled.
"There is NO Guild stronger than us and I will make sure that there will be none when I eliminate the fairies and their Guild Master. Phantom Lord will forever be known in Fiore's history as the strongest Guild with his defeat. And you will follow my orders, lest you face a harsh punishment, Redfox." Jose finished as he looked at Gajeel for a moment longer before turning away. Gajeel stood in one place for a second before he clenched his fists.
"Is this really what you want to do?" He asked as he looked at the other mages, "What you ALL want to do? Will you really follow him on this…plan of his?" The mages looked at each other before they all looked back at him.
"He's got a point, Gajeel."
"Yeah, those fairies are some of the worst excuses for mages I ever saw."
"Have you READ what those guys do? Makes you wonder how they even stayed afloat for so long."
Gajeel heard their words and growled.
"Alright, I have no choice then." He turned to look at Jose, "I quit."
Silence, complete silence as Gajeel's words echoed throughout the Guild, Jose stopped completely and Aria and Sol looked shocked.
"What…did you say?" Jose calmly asked as he turned to look at the Dragon Slayer.
"I quit. I'm not going along with this insane plan of yours just because you couldn't accept that a Guild is stronger than us." Gajeel removed the Guild mark from his shoulder and turned to leave, "I don't intend to be a Dark Mage, not after I escaped one."
As he began to leave, he noticed that the lights began to dim slightly and a dark feeling began to settle in. He heard the wind howl and the shadows on the floor beginning to quiver.
"I see. It appears that another weakling shows his true face." He heard Jose say as his hand inched close to an ax handle on his back, "No matter." He gripped the handle as the shadows grew hands. He turned his hand into a shield and got his ax out, turning to face Jose's hateful eyes and his former guild mates' bloodthirsty grins.
"Kill him."
A large crowd gathered around a large tree, horrified looks on their faces as they saw what was on it. They murmured and whispered amongst themselves at the sight before them.
"Why are people gathering here?" Lucy asked as she pushed through the crowd.
"Excuse me, coming through." Flare said as she pushed the crowd away.
"Let us through, please." Erza told the people as her team stood before the large tree. Their eyes widened in horror, Lucy covered her mouth to not throw up, Gray began to shake as he tried to take out a cigarette while Flare's nostrils and mouth emitted smoke, flames leaking out and Erza stood with shaking hands and pupils turning to slits while her teeth seemed to sharpen.
"What's going on here?" A familiar voice said as Natsu pushed the crowd away, seeing team Flare looking at the tree, he looked up as well.
Team Flare started feeling a pressure around them, a feeling of a hand constricting their throats as they snapped out of their states to look back at Natsu. The civilians began to back away from Natsu whose eyes glowed white, his fists clenched as the vegetation around him began to die. Fear began to take hold as they saw his eyes lock on to the people nailed on the tree.
Levy and her team had earth like spikes drilled through their arms, the two males had severe injuries with Jet missing half his teeth, his nose broken and his legs looking broken and several cuts on his upper torso. Droy meanwhile had the skin in his legs shredded leaving bloody muscle underneath the skin, several bones stuck out of his chest, his jaw looked broken and a severe gash was on his forehead. Levy seemed to have suffered less with several cuts across her body and bruises on her face but her blue hair had traces of white fluid, which also oozed out of her barely covered womanhood, her hands looked broken and several stones seemed to have dug into her legs. All three seemed to be barely breathing, almost dead.
The civilians and Team Flare backed away as Natsu came closer to the tree and touched it with his left hand. The tree began to warp and bend as it slowly divided and turned into three humanoid trees, each holding the three mages.
"Get them to Porlyusica, now." The tree-like creatures ran like puppets.
"U-Uncle, will they be alright?" Erza asked as Natsu turned to her.
"Do you remember what I said about not doing anything about Phantom Lord?" The four nodded, "Forget about that, tell the others to prepare, we mobilize in two days." His words had them shocked.
"You mean we are-" Flare started as Natsu nodded.
"Yes, we are going to war with them. They can destroy the building however much they want, but once they harm any of you," The crowds parted and backed away in fear as Natsu's face seemed to turn demonic while the cracks on his arms began to glow with power.
"That is when they cross the line."
"The pieces are falling in place." Jose said to himself as he sat in his seat.
"Are you sure that this plan will work?" His spy asked him as he sat across from him, "They have a Demon King as their Guild Master and Etherious as their Guild members. If they attack us directly, we will be on the losing end."
Jose chuckled as he faced his spy, hands on the table.
"I wouldn't worry. You see I have a…surprise prepared for them. The moment they walk into our Guild, our acquaintances will take care of them. With them taken out, Fairy Tail will fall." The Guild Master told him as the building shook while the sound of something exploding sounded out.
"Just as I expected." Jose said as he walked out of the office towards the Guild Hall. Once he stepped out, he saw Fairy Tail mages with Flare and Gray at the front, having blasted the door down. Natsu stood behind him with a look of serene rage as most of his Etherious stood beside him.
"Welcome, Fairy Tail." Jose told them from above the Hall as he fixed his collar, "Have you come to talk, negotiate, perhaps for a party?" He asked as he eyed his trump cards to the side.
"Cut your crap Jose." Natsu told him as he stepped forward, "You know why we are here, you know what your Guild did and for that," the ground cracked beneath him as he released some of his power, "You will pay." He raised a hand as if to signal the mages and his demons.
"I don't think so." Jose said before he whistled loudly.
Around the Guild Hall, several people put their hands on the floor as it began to glow, lines spreading from their hands, racing towards a giant magic circle that appeared beneath the Fairies.
"What in-?" Jackal asked before he and the other Etherious screamed in pain and fell to the floor, clutching themselves. Nearby Elfman fell to his knees, feeling like his magic was being drained and his body felt like it was electrocuted.
"What?" Natsu asked as he looked at his demons, "Why are you-?" He looked at the casters and his eyes widened in slight surprise, "What did you do?"
"Tell me E.N.D, do you believe me to be that foolish as to provoke you without a plan?" Jose asked as the Phantom mages grinned at the sight, "I knew you would retaliate if I were to attack one of your mages and I knew that I couldn't really win against you, not even at my full strength. So instead of fighting you and your demons head on, I decided to get rid of you in a different way." He gestured towards the casters.
"May I introduce the Order of the Holy Sword and their elite soldiers, ones that I believe that you are familiar with." Natsu looked towards them again and his eyes narrowed.
"Exorcists." He said as he felt his body lock in place as chains began to appear and grabbed him.
"Correct. You may be the most powerful being in this world, but you are still a demon and susceptible to the same weakness as many of your kind. Exorcism being one of them. I would love to talk more but I believe this talk is over." He turned to the exorcists, "Finish the job."
The casters all raised their swords and stabbed the ground, the circle glowed brighter as the Etherious screamed in pain and disappeared while Natsu felt the chains drag him back to Demon Realm.
"Jos-!" He shouted before he was dragged back to his realm leaving the mages in shock.
"Uncle!" Erza shouted in horror before setting her rage filled eyes towards Jose who began to laugh.
"Now fairies," Shades covered his hands as his mages prepared their magic, "Prepare to be eliminated."
"Not if I have anything to say about it!" Erza shouted at him as she requipped the Heaven's Wheel armor, "Stand strong everyone! We can do this!"
Porlyusica sighed as she finished tending to the injured mages, making sure to wrap up the bandages.
"It is done." She said to her companion who stood up before standing next to Levy's bed.
"Will they be alright?" He asked her and she nodded.
"Yes, they have several severe injuries and had they been sent here a little late they would have died but I managed to heal most of the injuries. They will be asleep for several days but they will be fine if they rest." She told him as she washed her hands.
"Thank you Porlyusica." Makarov said as she sighed.
"You're welcome. You can leave now. I will tell you when they wake up." The old man left the infirmary, towards the somewhat fixed Guild Hall and his eyes widened as he saw the sight before him.
"What happened to all of you?!" He asked, horrified as he saw the mages enter the guild hall looking beat up or unconscious with several having more grievous injuries with Erza helping Flare and Elfman holding a barely conscious Gray.
"We led an attack…against the Phantom Lord." Elfman started, "We tried to get revenge for what happened…but they managed to beat us instead."
"Where is Natsu? Didn't he go with you? Where are the other Etherious?" Makarov asked as he helped some of the mages by putting them on empty tables while Mira helped her brother and Erza.
"He…Jose had a plan against him," Erza said, hissing as she held her injured side, "He hired exorcists from a religious order and they banished Natsu back to Demon Realm along with the Etherious. After that we tried to fight back without him but with Jose there, we were soundly beaten." She bit back a loud grunt of pain as she felt her broken rib and sprained ankle flare in pain.
"Exorcists? But how?" Makarov asked, utterly shocked and confused, "The Religious orders have no reason to go after Inferno or Natsu as they signed a pact in which both parties can't and won't attack the other after the treaty had been signed. Which Order did they belong to?" He asked her as Lisanna came up to her before applying some alcohol with cloth to her injuries.
"I think…Jose said they were from the Order of the Holy Sword." Erza replied as she applied some healing enchantments on herself and on Flare's injuries. Makarov's eyes widened as he heard her answer and he sighed in frustration.
"I thought they were disbanded after what they did. How could they have escaped?" he said to himself as Elfman grunted as Mira helped him set his dislocated shoulder straight.
"Sir, do you know anything about that Order?" He asked as Mira put some ice on his swollen face. The old man sighed as he rubbed his face.
"Yes, I do. In fact I personally participated in the destruction of one of their headquarters in my younger days." He answered as he sat on one of the chairs, "Trust me my children when I say that that Order is the furthest thing from holy and its members are the worst kind of religious people you will ever meet." He told them in a somber tone, his eyes having the look of one who suffered extreme trauma as his fists clenched.
"Sir, are you okay?" Lisanna asked as Makarov shook his head and released a breath he had been holding.
"I'm fine, Lisanna. Just some…bad memories of those times." He said in a hollow tone before he cleared his throat, "In any case, I'm glad that all of you are here, injured but alive. I shudder to think what the exorcists of that Order would have done to any of you if you had been captured."
The conscious Fairies all had raised eyebrows at his words, wondering what had their former Guild Master so shook. Usually, there were few things that would leave him looking terrified, the total cost of collateral damage being one example, but never this bad.
"What will we do now? We don't have a Guild Master right now, Jose will probably launch an attack against us and we aren't ready because most of us are injured." Mira asked Makarov who took a deep breath as he stood up.
"I will take the lead until Natsu returns from the Demon Realm, how long that will take I have no idea, but we need to prepare. Holder mages, make sure that your items are ready, Caster mages prepare your best spells, Etherious," He turned towards the table where only Ezel and Seilah remained, "I know that you only obey Natsu and that you don't have much trust towards us, but please help us until your Master arrives."
The two demons looked at each other, contemplating on what to do, with Ezel bringing Seilah closer to have a whisper conversation. After a while, the larger demon looked at the old man.
"I will stand guard then, Master gave the order to protect and I will not fail him."
"I will look through the books in the library, see if I can bring Master back." Seilah told him as Makarov.
"Do it quickly, we may not have much time." Selah left for the library as Ezel went out of the building and began to patrol.
"Erza, bring anyone who is injured to Porlyusica, after that, gather everyone here. We can't separate and risk them attacking us when we are alone." She nodded as the least injured brought those with heavier injuries to the healer while Makarov rubbed his temple at the events.
"Jose, are you that desperate to make a deal with THAT Order?" He muttered to himself as he went up to the office, "How far did you take this rivalry of ours?"
"Are you sure that she leaves here?" Lisanna asked Erza as they stood outside an apartment complex.
"Flare told me she helped her find the apartment and I visited the place once, so yes I'm sure." Erza told her as they went to the door to knock on it.
After three knocks, the door opened to a strange sight. Lucy stood behind the door with bandages and disinfectant in hand and some blood on her clothes and arms.
"Oh, hey guys! Something's wrong?" The blonde mage asked as she opened the door wider.
"Why is there blood on you Lucy?" Lisanna asked, looking her over and not seeing any injuries on her.
"And why is there another scent in the house?" Erza asked as she sniffed the girl and noticed the blood didn't smell like hers.
"Uh, well, funny story." She let them in as she went to her bathroom, "I came home from the groceries and found an injured man on my doorstep. I brought him inside and have been treating him ever since." The two women looked at the busty blonde as she took out a bucket with water.
"Why didn't you take him to the hospital?" Erza asked her as the blonde looked up.
"He said that they might still be after him so he said not to. I tried my best here but some of his injuries are really bad."
"They? Who are they?" Lisanna asked as Lucy picked up the bucket and went to her bedroom.
"Phantom Lord." She told them, surprising them, "He told me they tried to kill him but he escaped, he couldn't get to a hospital with his injuries so he came up to my doorstep and passed out on the steps."
"He is probably one of our mages then." Lisanna told her as they followed the girl.
"I'm not sure. I mean, I never saw the guy and he doesn't seem like he is from our Guild." Lucy said as she opened the door and went in.
"The only ones that Phantom Lord attacked were us or one of our mages so who is he to be their target?" Erza asked as they followed the girl before freezing on the spot at the sight of the man on the busty blonde's bed. Though he was covered in bandages and his hair was shorter, the two could still recognize the man, especially the look in his eyes.
"Gajeel?!" Lisanna shouted in shock, startling Lucy and snapping Erza out of her stupor, "Why are you here?!"
The man's eyes widened at the sight of Erza, his hand tensing as she herself narrowed her eyes at the sight of the Dragon Slayer.
"Redfox." Erza said as she looked him directly in the eyes.
"Scmphlrt." Gajeel said, his voice muffled by the bandages as he tried to hold up a hand. Only to groan in pain as he felt his wounds flare up.
"Oh, hey careful. No need to tense up like that." Lucy told him as she put his hand on the bed and began to take out fresh bandages, "Do you girls know him or something?"
"Lucy, this is Gajeel Redfox. He is one Phantom Lord's S-class mages and its Dragon Slayer." Erza informed her, shocking the blonde mage as she turned to look at the bandaged man, "Why are you here Redfox? Is this one of Phantom Lord's tricks? Because if so…" She summoned a glaive and held it up with Lisanna preparing her magic in case he tried anything. To their surprise, the man shook his head.
"Anf lfmt thnm." He tried to say.
"What?" Lucy removed the bandage around his mouth to let him speak.
"I left them." His words surprised them, "I didn't like what they were becoming so I left the Guild. Didn't exactly end well for me." He gestured to his body as Erza raised an eyebrow.
"I would have thought someone like you who values strength would have remained with Phantom Lord, Redfox." Gajeel rolled his eyes and adjusted himself to a more comfortable position on the bed.
"Believe it or not Scarlet, I do have standards and I draw the line at what they did."
"You vandalized our Guild." Lisanna pointed out as he gave her a deadpan stare.
"One, it was empty. Two, it was an order from the Guild Master so I had to do it. Three, I just got back from a mission back then and really wanted to sleep so I just did it quickly and went back to my apartment to sleep. Four, a mere vandalized building isn't really anything to cry over." He told her as Lucy narrowed her eyes.
"Then why did you leave?" He looked at her with hardened eyes.
"Because while a destroyed building is just minor vandalism and something I would not have paid any mind to, preying on the weak and rape is something that I hate with passion." His words surprised Lisanna and Lucy, "I joined them not only because they were strong but also because I believed them to be honorable companions. When Jose ordered the others to attack your mages with no rhyme or reason and then do those horrible things to you unprovoked, I knew that I was witnessing the start of a Dark Guild."
"I see." Erza said as she sat next to him, "Given what happened to you back then, I can say that you weren't exactly thrilled to see what they began to turn into." Lisanna raised an eyebrow at her words, confused.
"You should know the answer better than others, Scarlet." Gajeel told her as Lucy began to remove the bandages on his arms, "There is nothing in the world that I hate more than Dark Guilds, especially those that try to justify their horrible actions with invalid motives. I should have known that they wouldn't have taken my leave well." He hissed as he felt Lucy apply disinfectant to his still healing wounds and rewrap his arms.
"Sounds like you two know each other personally." Lucy said as she wrapped his left arm.
"Gajeel used to be a captive of a Dark Guild." Erza said as she saw him glare at her for revealing that info, "Mother and I happened to wander into their territory and saved him and other captives from the Dark Mages. He lived with us for a few days before leaving. I met him again several weeks after I joined Fairy Tail." Lucy and Lisanna had looks of shock at her words before Gajeel cleared his throat.
"I would appreciate it, Scarlet, if you didn't reveal anything else." He said as Erza raised an eyebrow.
"All that I revealed was a fragment of your past that I know of, nothing more personal than that." Gajeel glared for a moment before he sighed and relaxed into the bed.
"So…now that you are no longer Phantom Lord mage, what are you going to do now?" Lisanna asked him as Gajeel's eyes widened a bit before he looked up.
"I'm not sure. I might join another Guild after I recover. There are others in Fiore after all, Lamia Scale, Blue Pegasus, Cait Shelter, Quatro Cerberus." He looked over at them, "Fairy Tail." Lisanna gave him a slight glare and Lucy looked conflicted while Erza chuckled slightly.
"You will have to talk to our Guild Master for that though, since you vandalized our Guild, something that he holds dear if I might add, he will probably beat the shit out of you first before letting you join." The black haired man cocked an eyebrow.
"Is there something that I should know about him?"
"The First Guild Master and its founder Mavis was his best friend whom he cherished deeply." She said, causing his eyes to widen, "And he is also one of the strongest beings on the planet." She saw him sweat slightly and had a tiny smirk at what she was about to say next.
"And he killed Dragons in the past too."
Lucy freaked out as she saw Gajeel pass out with a look of shock while Erza tried to hold back her laughter.
"W-w-what?" Jose hid an urge to smile as he looked at one of his female mages. Her eyes began to water as she heard his words, "G-Ga-Gajeel is d-dead?" She stuttered out as tears began to slide down her cheek.
"Yes, several of the other mages saw him die at the hands of another mage while on a mission." Jose said, doing his best impression of a grieving man, "There was nothing left of him to bring back. Only this." he held out a bent armor piece, which had blood on it.
Thunder roared outside as the young woman before him began to cry, the sounds of rain hitting the roof and windows heard throughout the Guild Hall as her body trembled.
"W-w-who?" the blue-eyed woman asked as she hugged herself, "Who killed him?" She looked up with eyes full of despair, "Who did it?!" She screamed as the rain became more intense.
"From what they told me, it was a couple of Fairy Tail mages." His words shocked as he had a tiny smirk at the shock and anger on her face, "They attacked him unprovoked, claiming that we stole their place as the strongest Guild. Gajeel attempted to reason with them but one of them ambushed him and backstabbed him before beating him to death. Aria and Sol stumbled upon them and saw them burn his corpse after which they fled before they could avenge him."
Jose maintained a good façade as he saw the young woman have a horrified look before it shifted to one of fury as she clenched her fists.
"Who was it?! Which mage did it?!" Jose felt her magic reserve spike and fluctuate as the very air around him began to turn foggy.
"One of them was a blonde Lightning mage, Laxus and the other was Flare Corona, the one who burned him to ash." Her hair began to float and he decided to put the final nail.
"Do you want to avenge him?" The mage's hands were now covered in water as she looked at him with eyes filled with hate.
"Juvia will make them suffer for what they did."
Natsu felt himself get pulled from the Earth Land and landed on his feet as a portal above him closed and the chains disappeared from his body. The ground beneath him cracked and quaked as he landed, the very air around him smelling of blood and death as he stood up. The slowly intensifying feeling or rage and bloodlust all but confirming where he was.
He looked upon the ruinous realm where he saw many demons and demon clans fighting and killing each other. Weapons clashing, magic flying and body parts falling as Natsu gained a bloodthirsty grin.
"Back here huh?" He stood up as the demons then focused on him and he smiled, "I HAVE RETURNED MY DEMONS!" He lit his hands with crimson fire, his sclera turning black as the pupils turned white.
"Who will challenge me?!" The demons roared as they charged towards the King of Demons, the Demon Realm in a perpetual bloody war.
