Hey, I'm back! I'm so happy about the response I'm getting, let's see how you guys like this chapter!
I'm so glad people like the Beca/Calamity pairing because I'm obsessed with Ruby Rose and I actually like this pairing too :)
Chapter Five - Goodbye Until Tomorrow/I Could Never Rescue You
Don't kiss me goodbye again
Leave this night clean and quiet
You want the last word
You want me to laugh
But leave it for now
All you can say
All you can feel
Was wrapped up inside that one perfect kiss
Leave it at that
I'll watch you turn the corner and go
The brunette was smiling, actually she was grinning as she opened her arms and hugged Emily first before all the girls gave her a group hug. Of course, they all wanted individual hugs and, unlike the last time they were all together, Chloe was the last to hug Beca.
Beca, like Chloe predicted, hugged her tight like she'd never left, probably not reading the confusion in Chloe's demeanor and not making any comment about her weight, which Chloe thought she would do.
"How are things, guys?" Beca asked, the girls spoke all at the same time.
"We wanna hear from you, you disappeared!" Stacie said.
"Yeah, yeah, let's get something to drink and I'll fill you guys in," Beca said, taking them to the bar. She had already ordered a cocktail so she ordered another before she sat down and took a deep breath. "Well, like I said, I liked one of you for a very long time and I was about to tell her but-"
"-It's Chloe, you can say it," Stacie said.
"Alright, I was going to tell Chloe but I was lost in all the stress of the tour and stuff, I only thought of it after my performance, but then I saw her with Chicago and I'm so sorry guys but I had it, I couldn't do it anymore, I couldn't pretend, so I had to take a break, I had to distance myself, I couldn't be near you guys because it hurt too much so I flew to LA," Beca said before looking at Chloe. "I'm so sorry for leaving like that but I decided to give time for myself, I know you were all wondering and hurt but I had to do this for myself.
"Before I knew it, I was dating Ruby and it'd been a year and I thought everyone would be so mad at me, I was scared," Beca said.
"We're not mad," Emily said. "We were confused, though,"
"Yeah, I'm sorry, I hope you all can forgive me," Beca said.
The girls spoke together again and hugged Beca.
"Wait, wait, guys I want you to meet Ruby," Beca got up and walked to the entrance, where Ruby had just come out of and grabbed her hand.
Beca smiled as her and Ruby came closer to the girls. Ruby wore a white blazer and white pants as well as white leather combat boots, she had light makeup on and she smiled when Beca came close to her. As they stood in front of the Bellas, Ruby leaned in and placed a kiss on Beca's temple, wrapping an arm around her waist, bringing her closer.
"Guys, this is Ruby, my fiancée," Beca smiled.
The girls got up to shake hands, they had already been introduced to Ruby but they were happy to meet her as Beca's finacée.
As they all sat down to talk, only Aubrey noticed Chloe wasn't talking. She was smiling and acting as if she was interested but Aubrey knew she probably didn't know what was being said or there was a ringing in her ears she couldn't ignore. She was proud of Chloe though for being so tough. She knew it must've been hard for her.
oO0Oo
I called Elise to help me pack my bags
I went downtown and closed the bank account
It's not about another shrink
It's not about another compromise
I'm not the only one who's hurting here
I don't know what the hell is left to do
You never saw how far the crack had opened
You never knew I had run out of rope
Beca was so happy to see her friends again. Yes, for a while she didn't want to see them again because she knew it'd only cause heartbreak. She had been terrified of contacting the girls but when Cynthia Rose called her in the studio, she was afraid of the girl being angry and when she explained the girls were all confused and just missed her, she calmed down.
Beca and Ruby sat down and continued talking. Every once in a while, Ruby would pull her closer and plant a kiss on her jawline or her hair. The taller brunette had a tough exterior but she was very caring, the kisses were constant and she was very protective of Beca.
"I don't like that Beca's Ferocity now, alright, she is and will always be a Bella," Stacie said to Ruby.
"We had her first," Amy said.
"Yeah we got dibs," Cynthia Rose said.
"You might have dibs but I have-"
"-Baby, behave," Beca cut her off before Ruby spoke, which made the brunette chuckle. Beca then eyed her sisters before shrugging and smiling sheepishly. "Sorry,"
"Anyway, have you guys thought about the wedding?" Stacie asked.
"A little," Beca said.
"Yeah, we want it to be in France," Ruby said.
"And we don't want the wedding to be filled with people, just family and close friends," Beca said.
"Whoa," Amy said.
"But we are not set on a date yet," Ruby said.
"We're still figuring out all the details," Beca looked at Ruby and the brunette smiled, kissing her lips again.
Beca stole a quick glance at Chloe and even though the girl was smiling, she knew from all the years she'd lived with her that she wasn't happy, she was just masking her true feelings.
Beca looked at her drink, taking the last few sips before looking at Ruby.
"I'll be right back," she said, to which the girl nodded and kissed her again before Beca got up and walked further away from them, Chloe following her. She stopped right by the tall ledge, looking down at the busy city.
Chloe reached her and just looked at her for a while.
"Let me have it," Beca said. "I know you're dying to scream at me, so let's hear it,"
Chloe sighed.
"I'm trying not to lose it but you're right, I'm pissed," Chloe said. "How could you disappear like that? And just because you saw me with Chicago? You can't pin this down on me,"
"I didn't, though," Beca pointed out. "I owned up to it, you have nothing to do with it,"
"And didn't you consider my feelings before leaving?" Chloe asked. "You know that was very immature of you,"
"I know, I know it was but Chloe I was so tired of being mature," Beca said. "I was so tired of being close to you and pretending and trying to move on, when I decided to tell you I saw you with Chicago and that was when I lost it. I'm not saying it was smart, I'm saying it was just me trying to save the last bit of my sanity. I'm sorry, I know it was stupid but I had to do it,"
Chloe sighed, looking out into the street before looking back at Beca.
"You know before Aubrey pointed out you liked me I had no idea," Chloe said. "And if you hadn't left I never would've realized I felt the same way about you,"
"Damn, so if I just talked to you," Beca scratched her head. "I know, it was stupid but I had to think of myself first, all those years all I thought about was you,"
Chloe shut her eyes and softened up before looking back at Beca.
"I was just so confused, you're my best friend and you didn't answer my calls, my texts," Chloe said.
"Yeah I'm sorry but.. It was something I had to do for myself. As a friend, I hope you understand," Beca said.
"I understand," Chloe nodded. "But I was still pissed,"
"Look, I won't disappear again, okay?" Beca said. "We'll keep in touch, if you or Aubrey or any of the girls wanna come over to LA to spend a few days with me and Ruby, we'll be happy to have you,"
Chloe nodded but sighed at the mention of Ruby.
"So you're happy with Ruby?" she asked before looking up at her.
"I am," Beca nodded. "She's so sweet, she treats me so well, like I'm a queen."
Chloe smiled.
"Well I'm happy then," Chloe said.
"Listen, I hope we're okay," Beca said. "I mean.. you did say you realized you had feelings for me, I hate to leave you on the spot I was once, but.. I've got Ruby now."
Chloe sighed and scratched her head, feeling awkward now.
"Well, I did realize and I honestly don't know where I stand, I'm feeling a lot better than when you first left," Chloe said. "But don't worry about me, I'm feeling a lot better now that I know you're okay."
Beca smiled, feeling like a weight lifted off of her shoulders.
"I'm glad," she said.
"And even if I still do have feelings for you I hope you know that I'll try and not make things awkward between us," Chloe said. "I mean, it's what you always did."
"That's okay," Beca said. "So wanna get back?"
Chloe nodded. Beca smiled again and wrapped an arm around Chloe's waist, hugging her, feeling so much better now that things had been talked about and the tension dissipated a bit.
Chloe felt that much better having the small brunette back in her life. As they walked back, she enjoyed the warmth, even the final squeeze Beca gave her before sitting back next to her fiancée.
