Chapter 4: Welcome to Camp Half-Blood
I saw kids gathering around the beach. They all seemed to be wearing an orange shirt with words I couldn't read from this distance. There were kids as young as 12 to as old as college kids.
Oliver parked at the dock. He climbed down from the wheel, then jumped onto the dock. He helped me and Casey get off the boat. I looked around at all the kids nervously. Some were staring at me up and down. Some had no expression. Some looked at me in disgust. Some stared at Casey in awe, which made me mad.
A man in a wheelchair rode up to us, "Ah Oliver. I see you have finally needed to bring Casey and Rosaleen here. What happened?"
Oliver sighed, "A teacher. Always a teacher. I'd prefer to explain moreā¦," He looked at all the kids. "You know."
The man nodded and turned around, "Campers, head back to your activities!" He looked back at us, "Follow me children."
As we walked off I saw kids turn to each other and mutter things while looking at us. I saw other satyrs stare at me in horror and run away once I looked at them. That confused me. I wasn't that scary.
We headed into a 4 story blue house. Oliver told use it was called the Big House.
The man led us into a living room area and had us sit. He said, "Forgive me Casey and Rosaleen, I'm Chiron."
I sat forward, "For one, Rosa is fine. For two, how do you know our names? For 3, what the hell is happening?"
Chiron smiled, "I understand you are confused. Oliver has given me monthly reports about you both. As I'm guessing you saw earlier today, you're being watched."
I leaned back in my seat and crossed my arms, "I want my life back."
Casey smiled, "Same."
Chiron sighed, "I know this will be hard for you both, but you already know the answer to your second question Rosa. The Greek Gods are still alive. They followed the Western Civilization. Frankly, the flame was brightest here in America, so now they are here."
"What does this have to do with me or Casey?" I asked.
He smiled, "You're children of those gods. Two of them found each of your parents and they fell in love. Now we should find out soon which god but-"
"Poseidon." Casey interrupted. "I was claimed by him just as we arrived."
Chiron stared at Casey, "Poseidon?"
Casey explained, "When we started on the boat trip, I felt stronger when the boat started moving. At one point, Rosa went swimming after the Sirens, and I was strong enough to get her back. I said I wanted to go faster and we did. I'm a son of Poseidon."
Just then a boy ran in. He had black hair, dark brown eyes, and pale skin. He was wearing a black jacket over an orange shirt. I couldn't see what it said but I saw a pegasus on it. He looked about 16.
He looked at Chiron, "Chiron, Clarisse is fighting with the Stolls. Again." He rolled his eyes.
Chiron sighed sadly, "I'll take care of it." He looked at us, "Rosa, Casey, this is Nico di Angelo, Son of Hades. Nico, this is Rosaleen Walker and Casey Prince."
"Welcome to Camp Half-Blood." Nico said.
Me and Casey got a confused look on our faces and Nico laughed, "That's what this place is called. It's a safe camp for Greek Demigods to train and learn to survive monster attacks."
Chiron turned to Nico, "Nico, could you give Casey a tour of camp? Get him some starter supplies, and show him Cabin 3."
Nico's eyes widened, "He's a-"
"Yes."
He nodded, "Ok Chiron. Casey, let's go."
Casey said, "Ok." Then got up and they both walked out.
Chiron said, "Oliver, can you let me talk with Rosa alone please?"
"Of course." Oliver walked out, following Nico and Casey.
Chiron said, "Rosa, do you know what you are?"
Confusion spread through my brain, "A demigod. You already told me that."
"Not just a demigod. You have a special heritage. I believe your father told you?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
I shifted my body nervously, "He said we were descendants of the Egyptian pharaoh Hatshepsut."
He nodded, "This could be troubling, but let's not worry about that now. I'm going to get you a guide, once I take care of Clarisse and the Stolls."
"Who are those?" I asked. "Why are they fighting?"
Chiron smiled, "Clarisse La Rue is a daughter of Ares and the head counselor for the Ares Cabin. For some reason, they will keep landmines and other traps outside their cabin. Unfortunately, Connor and Travis Stoll are twin sons of Hermes and the head counselors for the Hermes Cabin, so they will often dismantle the traps and steal them."
"Ah." I said, understanding how Clarisse feels. I had a cousin who would sneak into my room and take my stuff all the time.
Chiron led me outside. He stopped and started rising up from the wheelchair, taller than any man I've ever seen. But instead of legs there was the body of a white stallion. I stared at him and he said, "Yes child I am a centaur."
"Why does half the people I meet have to be half animal?" I muttered and Chiron laughed. We walked to what looked like the cabin area. I heard yelling coming from one of the cabins and we saw a girl, probably Clarisse, yelling at two boys who looked exactly alike and were probably the Stolls.
"Stop stealing our landmines before I stuff your heads into the toilets, you bone-headed thieves!" Clarisse yelled.
"Make us!" The taller Stoll yelled back.
"Travis!" Chiron yelled. "Give the Ares cabin their traps. And Clarisse," He turned to her, "Don't threaten them."
Connor grinned, "We were just having some fun!"
Chiron shook his head. Connor and Travis sighed unhappily and gave Clarisse her traps. She muttered something about them being idiots and walked off.
Chiron scanned the crowd of demigods. He caught his eye on a girl and yelled, "Piper, come here!"
The girl, Piper, walked towards us. She had choppy, uneven chocolate-brown hair, dark, tanned skin, and kaleidoscope eyes like mine. She was wearing a Camp Half-Blood T-shirt under an army jacket, and some denim shorts. She had a belt around her waist, with some sort of sheathe, possibly for a dagger, attached to it.
"Yeah Chiron?" She said.
"Rosa, this is Piper McLean, Daughter of Aphrodite. Piper, this is Rosaleen Walker. I would like you to show her around camp, get her some starter supplies, and get her settled into the Hermes cabin."
Piper nodded, "Of course." She turned to me, "Ready?"
I smiled, "Nope."
She grinned, "Then let's go!"
Hey guys, pretty long chapter. Next on will be Casey's POV. That will be an every once and a while thing. Or next one might be super long and include Casey and Rosa's tour
Probably not
If you have any suggestions for better chapter titles, book titles, or the 2 or 3 book series titles, let me know. I'm terrible with titles and I think mine are lame. I promise to credit you!
Lastly, if you have any ideas on how to make my story better, tell me! I suck at writing!
