Chapter 5: The Tour
(Casey's POV)
A/N: Ok, So with this chapter and the next, they're happening around the same time. So this is Chapter 5, Casey's POV. And next Chapter will be Chapter 5, Rosaleen's POV
Once we had walked outside of the Big House, Nico immediately turned to me, "Now listen Casey. You are about to get a tour of a very dangerous place. Don't touch something if you don't need to."
I nodded, "Yes sir." Nico broke out into a grin and gestured for me to come with him.
A/N: For the tour, I'm not gonna do the whole thing. Just certain parts I feel I can make something actually happen besides Nico saying "Oh there's the arts and crafts building. I think you know what we do there"
You know what I mean?
Nico showed me to the top of a hill. He gestured to the tall pine tree, "This is Half Blood Hill. And that's Thalia's pine tree."
"Who's Thalia?"
Nico looked at the tree sadly, "Thalia was a daughter of Zeus. Before she was born, the gods had made an oath not to sire any children. Zeus fell out of line and now Thalia was born. Since Zeus was a god, the goddess of the Styx couldn't punish him directly, but Thalia had a hard life. Her mother became unstable once Zeus left, and when she was 10 she found out her brother had "died."" He put it in quotation marks, clearly hinting he wasn't dead.
"She decided to run away, and later on she met Luke Castellan, also another runaway son of Hermes. A few years later, they both met Annabeth Chase, a daughter of Athena who had also run away. Later the three of them met Grover Underwood, who was assigned to bring Thalia, just Thalia, back to camp. He brought the three of them, but took some wrong turns along the way, which let the monsters chasing after them catch up."
Nico sighed, "Thalia made her last stance here. She told Grover to take Annabeth and Luke to camp, and Grover listened, even though he was assigned to protect Thalia. Thalia fought off the monsters, but she died here. Zeus turned her into a pine tree to preserve her life force, and the tree created the camp borders, so no monster would get into camp unless given permission or summoned from inside."
I processed everything, "What happened to Thalia."
Nico smiled slightly, "6 years ago or so, Percy Jackson and Annabeth, along with Tyson, a Cyclops son of Poseidon, went on a quest to retrieve the Golden Fleece. They brought it to camp and healed Thalia's tree, which had been poisoned by Luke, who had become evil. The fleece worked it's magic very well, and resulted in Thalia being brought back. A few months later, she joined the Hunters of Artemis. As far as I know, she's still with them."
"Wow." Was all I could say. But it does describe that story.
Nico's smile grew, "Yep. 'Wow' describes most demigods' stories."
"What's your story?" I asked curiously.
I immediately regretted it. The smile melted off his face and he turned his head away from me, his face darkening, "I don't want to talk about it."
I walked up next to him, "Sorry man. I shouldn't have asked."
Nico kept staring at the ground, "It's fine. Let's continue with this tour."
-Time Skip:Stables-
Nico walked up to the wooden building, "This is probably gonna be your favorite, Casey. This is the stables."
We walked in and I gasped. There were so many pegasi. I walked up to a black stallion and Nico said, "That's Blackjack. He's Percy's horse."
Dam right I am. I heard Blackjack speak in my mind. I stepped back in surprise and Nico chuckled, "You heard him talk, didn't you? Since Poseidon created horses, and he's your father, you can speak to horses."
Another boss? Hell yeah! Woop woop! Blackjack said to me and I laughed, "I'm not your boss. I've done nothing to deserve that title."
Oh well.
Nico coughed, getting my attention, "We have one more place to visit before we head to the cabins."
I said bye to Blackjack and we left.
-Time Skip:Infirmary-
"What's this place?" I asked, looking at the tall building.
Nico smiled, "This is the infirmary. It's best if you know where it is, since you'll be fighting with weapons soon." He sounded much happier now, as if this place made him happy.
He gestured for me to follow him inside, "This is also where the Apollo campers work. Being the children of the god of healing, they are our best medics."
We walked towards a boy with sunny blonde hair, blue eyes, and an athletic build. Freckles were splattered across his face. He had the standard Camp Half-Blood shirt with a green plaid jacket over it. He was wearing Adidas pants and white Nikes. He was holding a clipboard and 6 people were staring at him expectantly.
"Phoebe, go to Kayla's room. She got burned on the lava wall." He said to a young 14 year old girl.
Phoebe nodded and ran off.
He turned to two 15 year olds, "Ken, Carmen, go to Lacy's room. She broke her arm and sprained her ankle when she fell off a pegasus."
"Guess she's not as skilled as her sister." Ken snickered to Carmen as they left.
"Emma, Althea, and Jason, come with me to Pablo's room. His leg was cut off."
"Again?" whined Jason.
The boy nodded and was just about to sprint after them when Nico tapped his shoulder, obviously not having the patience to wait until he's done with Pablo.
"Oh hey Nico, what's up?" He said, not noticing me.
Nico smiled and turned to me, "Casey, this is Will Solace, the head counselor for the Apollo cabin. Will, this is Casey Prince, a new demigod, and a son of Poseidon."
Will dropped his clipboard, "P-Poseidon? How-?"
"We don't know." Nico interrupted. "Chiron is just as confused and nervous as the rest of us."
"Woah woah woah." I broke into their conversation. "Why is Chiron nervous?"
Nico hesitated, "I'll tell you later."
Will knelt down to pick up his clipboard, "Well I better get back to work." He looked at Nico, his eyes sparkling. "See you later." He gave Nico a quick kiss on the lips and left.
I was confused at first, but Nico noticed my expression and laughed, "He's my boyfriend. Now let's show you the cabins."
-Time Skip:Cabins-
The cabins looked amazing. They were all differently styled, but all 20 were amazing in their own way. Nico looked at me, "I see you're amazed."
"They're beautiful." I said, still staring at them.
Nico smiled, "Yes they are."
We walked around slowly, getting a closer look at the cabins. Finally we stopped at Cabin 3. It was low, long and solid, with all the windows facing the sea. The outer walls are rough gray stone with pieces of seashell and coral and look like the bottom of the ocean floor.
Nico said, "Here's your cabin."
"Anyone else in there?" I asked, hoping to have someone to talk to.
Nico sighed, "As you know, the Big Three made an oath not to have any more children. So at the moment, you and Percy Jackson are the only living children of Poseidon."
"Where is Percy anyway? So many people are talking about him but I haven't seen him."
Nico stared at me, "You remind me so much of him. Percy is with his girlfriend Annabeth in New Rome going to college. They come here every once and a while to say hi to their friends, train some demigods, and for Annabeth, get new Athena campers settled in since she's the head counselor. They planned to come in the next few days or so, which means you'll get to meet your brother."
"Is Percy the head counselor for Cabin 3?" I asked, even though I already knew the answer.
Nico nodded and told me to stay here. About 10 minutes later he came back with a backpack and threw it to me, "Here's some toiletries, ambrosia and nectar, Camp Half-Blood T-Shirt, and some extra clothes until you can get your own."
"Thanks man. When do I get a weapon?" I never thought I'd say that.
Nico smiled, "You're eager. Tomorrow, we can go to the Athena cabin and ask Malcolm Pace if he can find a good one for you. Like Annabeth says, "Athena's all about strategy. Matching the right person with the right weapon" or something like that."
Then we heard what sounded like a conch horn. I heard movement and voices coming from each of the cabins, except Cabin 1, 2, 3, and 8. Nico smiled and said, "Time for dinner." He gestured for me to follow him and we went to the mess hall.
-Time Skip:Mess Hall-
Everyone had sat down at the tables, and nymphs were flying around, bringing people their food.
We walked up to Chiron and Nico asked, "Can I sit with Casey so he doesn't feel alone on his first day?"
I was surprised he asked that. Why would I be alone?
Chiron nodded, "Sure my boy. Percy said he would visit tomorrow anyway."
Nico smiled and we sat down at the third table. I asked, "Why would I be alone?"
Nico sighed unhappily, "For reasons I don't know, the rules are that at lunch and dinner we have to sit with our cabin mates. Since you got claimed before you arrived, you didn't get a chance to sit with the Hermes cabin, who takes in new campers until they get claimed. I didn't want you to feel alone, so I asked Chiron. Breakfast is the only exception to these rules."
"That's stupid. What could happen?" I frowned.
Nico said, "I guess fights between campers. Not that it wouldn't happen anyway but you know."
-Time Skip:Campfire-
We sat down around the fire, singing songs and joking around. The fire was around 6 feet tall and bright orange. It was fun to watch.
I sat with Nico again, since we were supposed to sit in specific areas. After another few minutes of singing, Chiron walked up in horse form (A/N: Somewhere throughout the day Nico told him Chiron was a centaur) and said, "Heroes! Another wonderful day! Now, we have some new campers. Please welcome Casey Prince, a Son of Poseidon!"
Nico whispered to me, "Stand up."
I stood, and all the campers turned to me, staring. I got really nervous and Chiron said, "Now I know we haven't seen a son of Poseidon since Percy, but this might be a good omen! Please respect this young demigod and welcome to camp Casey!"
I sat down, still feeling the stares of some people. Nico noticed my expression and whispered, "Don't worry. They aren't going to hurt you. They're just wondering what kind of demigod you'll turn out to be. I wasn't there, but you should've seen everyone's faces when Percy got claimed."
I nodded, "Thanks man."
We turned our attention towards Chiron as he said, "Our other new demigod is Rosaleen Walker!"
A girl stood up over where the Hermes campers were. I immediately noticed it was Rosa. She waved to everyone nervously, "Hi."
Chiron smiled, "Rosa, welcome to Camp Half-Blood! I hope you will get claimed in the next few days-"
He was interrupted by a blinding light where Rosa was standing. It faded, and she was standing there in shock, looking down. I looked down and gasped.
That's all for today guys! Can you guess who her mom is? (Also I promise it's nothing inappropriate.) Next chapter you'll find out! It'll be a much shorter tour than this one!
