Chapter 10 "Timing Is Everything"
Amanda
Sporadically, opportunities present themselves in a myriad of ways in one's life. Ben's declaration about my courtship with Sarek provided the perfect time for us to educate my parents. Yet it was not the way I had planned, and there was now a peculiar restlessness in the air among us.
My Father examined Sarek and me closely. Meanwhile, my other family members made their way back inside the building to say their goodbyes to the Walkers.
"Ambassador Sarek, may I speak to you privately," Father politely questioned.
"As you wish, Mr. Grayson," I answered, reverentially bowing my head.
Disquieted, I gazed at Sarek. I knew my Father would try to persuade him to stop courting me since he was a prominent and persuasive lawyer. He turned away from us and waited for Sarek to join him.
"Have patience in your challenges, " the handsome Vulcan Ambassador recollected, quoting Surak's teachings to me. The corner of Sarek's mouth twitched upward, and he followed my Father before I could comment.
Distractedly, I watched the two wander until they were no longer in sight. Fiona materialized by my side without me noticing until she stated,
"Have faith, Mandy."
Turning to my left, I viewed my sister-in-law, Fiona or Fi, in a pretty green maternity dress that matched her eyes. She fondly employed my childhood nickname that her husband still called me today. Appearing uncomfortable, Fiona's hands supported her lower back due to the strain of her pregnancy.
"Let's find a place where I can sit," I advised. We strolled into the Convention center to return to the party and sat down at an empty table. Fiona practiced her breathing techniques as I examined her growing belly, and she looked most uncomfortable.
"When is your due date?" I questioned, putting my hand on her stomach. A minute later, I ecstatically exclaimed,
"Oh, Fiona! He kicked. I felt it. "
"So did I, Mandy. Any day now," she acerbically remarked with a loud groan, putting her hands on her back to support herself again. At the same time, I removed my hand from her pregnant belly.
" It is now time to gossip," Fiona playfully demanded as her green eyes scrutinized me.
"How did you get a Vulcan to fall in love with you, Amanda?"
Subsequently, I blushed.
" It was a series of random occurrences that led us to fall in love," I dreamily acknowledged. Mystified, Fiona motioned for me to continue.
"Well, I met the Ambassador at T'Pau's house, he's my sponsor and his Aunt, but I didn't know that at the time. I hid in a closet because I had moved to Vulcan and felt gloomy. Sarek found me crying, listened, and guided me through meditation," I admitted, shrugging.
"That was extremely benevolent of him considering you were strangers," Fi cooed, impressed, and I smiled at her.
"Yes, Sarek follows an ancient Vulcan, Surak,'s teaching closely. One of the tenets is to treat everyone with kindness," I concurred with a smile.
Fiona grimaced at the sudden pain she beheld. When I tried to assist her, she urged, "Go on with the story, Mandy. I need a distraction."
"Before my transfer to the Embassy, we didn't interact too much. Then I transferred, splitting my time between Sarek and Ben's offices. We frequently conversed during the week. On occasion, we would eat the evening meal together," I reported, grinning happily.
"Yours is a terrific story. Let's walk a little," Fi suggested, still appearing discomforted but pleased.
A little later.
My Father and Sarek returned after Fiona and I strolled the area. Robert immediately alerted everyone that she needed to go home to rest. Attentively, my Vulcan boyfriend stood beside me with his hands clasped behind his back wordlessly. I could feel the heat from his body calling me, beckoning me to kiss him. Even so, it was not the right time.
"Shall we leave?" Sarek questioned, employing his telepathic ability.
"Yes," I whispered.
" Where," he inquired.
"Somewhere private. That is, if you want me to teach you how to slow dance still," I slyly proposed, giving Sarek a yearning glance.
"Indeed. My lodgings?" he arched his thick right eyebrow while urging, and my cheeks reddened at once.
"Great! Robert, may I ride with you? "
"Sure, Mandy, please hurry," my brother called, cautiously walking Fiona to his shuttle.
"I will see you in an hour, ashalik (darling)," I promised.
Sarek's brown eyes twinkled at my comment, and he responded, "That will be satisfactory, Amanda."
After Robert dropped me off at Sarek's apartment, I anxiously rang the door chime. It had been two weeks since we had been alone together, and I felt frisky.
"Greetings, Amanda," Sarek stated, with a slight smirk on his lips as he guided me through the different parts of his quarters.
His welcome made me feel comfortable.
"Nash-veh din-tor du. Wuh krus t' nash-veh nam-tor missing rik' du la'."
(I missed you. A piece of me is missing without you present.)
Sarek adoringly confessed, gazing into my eyes. We had stopped in the middle of his living room, and we stood very close to each other.
"T-t-that is a kind compliment...thank you," I stammered, feeling flattered and taken back.
"It is the truth," he revealed, touching my face with his thumb, producing a smile from me.
As a result, I embraced him tightly. Then I kissed him. Peering into his eyes afterward, I giggled then fluttered my eyelashes at him, announcing,
"Sarek, it is time for your dancing lesson."
"I was quite jealous that you danced with other men today," the tall, handsome Vulcan admitted.
"Jealous? Isn't that illogical," I mocked him with a bright smile. Sarek gave me a slight smile that he only reserved for when we were alone, and his cheeks flushed a pale green color.
"Computer, play slow dance music from the second half of America's twentieth century."
For a moment, I waited for my command to be obeyed. The computer played a song I didn't recognize, but slow enough for us to dance.
"Watch me first, then I will break it down," I instructed, and I demonstrated it by myself while Sarek watched me bemused.
" Please give me your right hand and put your left on my waist, and follow my lead,"
I explained.
Tentatively, Sarek grasped my right hand on his own with a slight smirk on his lips. I felt his left hand on my waist, and I stepped closer to him. Sarek's delightful cologne wafted my way, and I inhaled it deeply before inquiring,
"Pok?"
(Ready)
"Ha"
(Yes)
"Ok, let's try slowly," I proposed after demonstrating. Exhaling, Sarek clasped my hand and my waist tightly, and I led him leisurely around his living room. His exceptional coordination allowed him to catch on quickly.
"Fascinating," Sarek throatily revealed.
"You are doing very well," I complimented, and we danced for a long time with him leading. It was glorious.
"Dancing is quite entertaining," Sarek confessed; his muscular arms brought me closer to him so that we were practically cheek to cheek as we danced. I felt dizzy being so closed to him.
Our dance lesson was over as he bent down until our lips engaged in an ardent kiss. The action produced titillating prickling sensations all over my skin, and my body heated up to a red hot flame of fire.
Pressing my body onto Sarek's, I ran my hands all over his chest underneath his tunic and caressed his fine chest hair. Meanwhile, his nimble hands were busy caressing my breasts through my dress since it was harder to remove. We lustfully peered into each other's eyes as we gasped for breath afterward.
"Ohhh, Sarek," I breathlessly uttered in pleasure as he began kissing the length of my neck.
"ish-veh nam-tor wak. T'nash-veh t'hy'la tor du sep-wafikh."
(It is time, my lover, do you concur?)
He raspily whispered in my right ear, tickling it. Simpering, I responded,
"ha, t'nash-veh ashaya."
(Yes, my love.)
Excitement flowed throughout my body as I knew we were about to be intimate for the first time. Maintaining eye contact, Sarek swooped me up into his arms and carried me to his bedroom without warning.
