Chapter 11, "The Logical Thing To Do"
Sarek
Usually, Vulcans do not grant themselves the luxury of basking in pleasure as it is against Surak's teachings to focus on the logic. After our first night together, I allowed myself the privilege. I didn't require as much sleep as Amanda, so I used that time to observe the woman I wanted to be my bondmate. She, my other half, was perfect. Amanda was kind and generous yet intellectual and determined.
Gingerly, I tucked a stray hair from her face behind her ear as she snored. Her light snoring, her dark hair fell into her eyes, and the freckles randomly placed on her body enchanted me even more. I tenderly caressed Amanda's cheek, feeling a grin on my face, and allowed my fingertips to trace circles on her back down to where the sheet covered her backside. Viewing my nude t'hy'la aroused an evident passion, and I began kissing her neck softly.
"Ohhh, Sarek, son of Skon," Amanda whispered, her eyes still shut. The white sheet that loosely covered her body revealed her luscious breasts as she stretched her arms above her head. I felt that desire in my stomach, and other parts as Amanda opened her beautiful brown eyes, and there was smugness in them that wasn't there before last night. She turned her lips upwards for me to kiss, and I immediately did. Amanda tasted like sugar.
"Good morning, my ashaya," I greeted.
"Good Morning," she giggled, her face lighting up.
"Was my performance last night satisfactory, Amanda," I questioned, feeling slightly nervous, and I noted that my heart rate went up two point three times. I wanted to please and bring pleasure to her with my actions.
"Extraordinarily," she happily purred.
Amanda slid out of the tangle of white sheets, revealing her magnificent nude physique to me. Next, she climbed on me and pressed her body tightly against mine. We clasped hands gingerly as our mouths met for a slow, sensual kiss.
"My love, what did my Father say to you when you two went walking," Amanda curiously inquired afterward, peering into my eyes as she did so.
"Why do you ask," I wondered as she climbed off me and nestled her head on my chest. I placed my arms around her warm body, holding her tightly.
"I-I guess I was afraid that he would say something to change your mind about me," Amanda uneasily disclosed.
"Most Illogical," I responded, nuzzling my nose in her soft sweet hair.
"Very human, however," she giggled.
"Indeed."
Amanda sighed and waited for my response as I daydreamed about it.
Yesterday, I felt some apprehension when Mr. Grayson requested to speak to me. We strode side by side, waiting for the other to talk. I observed Amanda's Father's lined face with freckles and a pointy solid chin. Like her father, she also had his thick dark hair.
"How does your family feel about your courtship with my daughter, Ambassador?"
"Please call me Sarek, sir. We plan on informing them upon our return. Still, most likely, they will not be pleased," I calmly answered, moving my arms behind my back and clutching them together. Despite myself, I felt anxious, so I took a deep, cleansing breath.
Mr. Grayson silently contemplated my answer, then inquired like an attorney cross-examining a witness.
"How did you come into the picture, Ambassador Sarek?"
"Please call me, Sarek, Mr. Grayson. No one is more surprised at the possibility of this match than me. I didn't set out to pursue Amanda. My own Father attempted to match me with a Vulcan woman before your daughter, and I became enchanted with each other."
"I can see the difficulty in this situation, Sarek. After Amanda rejected Ben, he says that you purposely drove a wedge between him and her," Mr. Grayson accused.
"That is false. I observed Ben mistreating Amanda several times, and he berated and belittled her. On the other, he grabbed her roughly by the wrists," I countered, fiddling my fingers nervously behind me.
"Yes, Ben admitted these things," Mr. Grayson stated, waving them off.
"A man should not treat another harshly, " I recollected, feeling agitated at his nonplussed reaction.
"True," he reluctantly admitted, noting my concern for his daughter with a half-smile.
For a while, we walked in silence.
"Amanda has a headstrong spirit, Sarek, that you may not know. When she was a child, she rejected any direction her mother and I gave her. My daughter's career is a perfect example. We wanted Amanda to go into diplomacy, and instead, she went into linguistics, then we suggested law. Amanda continued her path into education," her father explained, appearing pained.
" My concern is that she chose you to love because we pushed Ben on her," he admitted.
"I assure you, our feelings for each other are strong and genuine."
"Sarek, I am at a loss of what to do in this situation," Mr. Grayson confessed, rubbing his hands on his temple as we ceased walking.
"If you are concerned about our tenderness for each other, I can show you through a mind-meld."
Mr. Grayson didn't know about them, so I explained.
"Our minds are becoming one," I stated, resting my fingers on his face for the mind-meld.
First, I recalled meeting Amanda at T'Pau's when I found her weeping. My heart poured out waves of empathy as I viewed her in pain, and I felt it my duty to assist her with meditation to regain her composure.
Second, I recollected Amanda dancing with Ben Walker at a social event and then when she sang to me on the balcony. I also shared with Mr. Grayson's other instances of our acquaintance, such as when she caringly assisted me in recovering from illness by spending time with me.
"Whoa," Mr. Grayson exclaimed, feeling overwhelmed by the emotions of the mind-meld, and he stumbled a little.
"The dizziness will subside within a minute," I soothed, grabbing his arm to stabilize him.
"Thank you, Sarek. I think you have persuaded me of your love for Amanda and hers for you," Mr. Grayson confessed.
His comment gratified me as we turned around and headed back for the Convention center. I felt Amanda's trepidation as her father, and I spoke privately. Meanwhile, I attempted to communicate with her to calm her down.
Back in the present, I slightly grinned.
"I told him that it was only logical to marry you," I eventually admitted.
"I love you too, Sarek," Amanda joyfully cooed.
