Chapter 19 "Spock"

After the Enterprise's original five-year mission was completed, I decided to go into kohlinar, a process to purge all emotions for personal reasons. I met my parents at a starbase to rendezvous before returning to the peppery Vulcan planet. The expedition would be over a day until we arrived at our home, so my parents, Ambassador Sarek and his human wife, Amanda Grayson, told me the story of how they met.

"Curious, you defied your father, my Grandfather, to marry my Mother," I concluded, feeling puzzled. My father never seemed like the type to go against familial wishes or rebel.

"Yes, Spock, I did," he answered, noting my perplexed expression. My parents exchanged an affectionate glance at each other. They touched their index and middle fingers together as a sign of it. With a slight sigh, I rolled my eyes inwardly at their fond exchange. That affection was what I was trying to get rid of for a shapely blonde nurse who was stationed on the Enterprise for five years with me, Christine Chapel.

"I didn't know that your Grandfather attempted to erase me from your father's memory, Spock, until much later," my mother fretfully described.

"But it was of no consequence."

"You, Aduna, were aware of Skonn's distaste for her," Sarek neutrally responded, " it was illogical to dwell on it anymore."

"Mmm," mother agreed, smiling at my father. We sat in our quarters in silence as I processed the scenario.,

"The whole scenario is quite illogical, and I am most surprised by your actions, Father," I generalized.

"Indeed, Spock. One day you will learn that love will cause you to behave illogically," he cooly replied, arching an eyebrow upwards.

Little did Sarek know that it had already done so with Christine.

"Without your great Aunt's assistance, we would not have bonded," Mother added.

"Forgive me for inquiring, but both you and my Great Aunt T'Pau seem to adhere strictly to the rules. The fact that you two took actions defying them seems contradictory," I respectfully proposed.

"Sometimes rules are made to be broken," mother summarized with a twinkle in her eye.

"An earth axiom," I questioned, and she nodded with a smile on her red lips.

"T'Pau recognized early on the deep affection between your mother and me, and she thought your Grandfather was wrong for keeping us apart," father explained.

"When I told you on the Enterprise that I married your mother because it was the logical thing to do, it was because I deeply loved her. It was the most illogical thing I have ever done, but I have never regretted my decision," Sarek plainly explained.

"How long did it take for Skonn to recognize the marriage," I questioned, and I felt anxious when my mother giggled a little.

"Two point three years, when you were born," father proudly answered.

"Indeed," I sassily replied, "Most logical."
