Tobi smirked under his mask. "They're here," he threw a kunai at a lock holding a fierce looking wolf. "This is going to be fun."
Let's see if shinobi techniques work.
Flashback
"Madara-sama, I've done the necessary preparations," Obito reported as he stepped into his creator's office. He noticed a seat in the middle of the room.
Madara smirked as he motioned him to take a seat. "That's good, now please take a seat, I have something big that I need you to do."
As directed, Obito took a seat.
"I'm going bestow power upon you," Madara stated bluntly. He walked up to Obito. "Stay still," he ordered, "do not scream."
Obito was absolutely honored in being gifted power from his creator, even though he wanted to say that he wasn't worthy of this power, his mind told him that more power is good. "Do not scream?" That was the phrase that confused him.
"Yes do not scream."
Obito felt a hand touch his back. "Do not resist."
"Do not cry."
"Do not speak."
Obito obeyed and chose not to speak.
"Rinne Rebirth!" Madara chanted as a sudden feeling of death overtook him. But Obito held his mouth, his master told him not to scream, so he did not scream. The sensation of death lasted only a moment before he blacked out.
Images flashed throughout his mind. A old woman, a young crush, a white-haired rival, a blonde teacher, a red-haired woman, a boulder, a old man that reminded him of his creator, a orange mask, a true demon with nine tails, a cloak of red clouds, five powerful humans, armies clashing, and a powerful beast many times stronger than the fox demon.
Techniques.
Flashback End
After that, his master explained that he revived the soul of Obito Uchiha, another god who died from the true realm of the gods. He explained that Obito Uchiha was from two realms, YGGDRASIL, and the Shinobi World. He listed off the new abilities that were given to him like jutsu, shinobi techniques, experience, hatred, and the power of the eyes of the true Uchiha.
In simpler form, Madara merged both the souls of Obito Uchiha from the realm of the gods and YGGDRASIL. to form him.
A group of armed adventures escorted a cart that was filled with sacks of supposed herbs, a blonde drove the cart. A dangerous looking man riding on an adorable looking hamster and a scowling beauty was in the back of the group.
"Ah! Help meeee!" A distant voice yelled as a cloud of dust approached them. A man, who wore an orange mask and a black cloak that was decorated with red clouds, was being chased by a single wolf.
"Is that guy okay?" a short kid who held a staff, signifying that he was a mage, asked. The dark warrior on the hamster and the beautiful lady only sent a single glance before ignoring the orange masked person.
"I got it," a blonde person with messy hair said. He nocked an arrow and pointed at the wolf. When he released the finely made arrow, the wolf fell face first, while the man mysteriously fell face first as well. The man slid to a stop before the youngest of the group.
"Are you okay?" the small boy asked.
"Tobi is a good boy!" Tobi replied rather happily to someone who was just got chased by a wolf. Tobi stood up and did a sloppy salute. "I'm Tobi!"
The small boy smiled gently and greeted the orange masked man, "I'm Ninya."
The bearded man with the kind smile spoke gently, "I'm Dyne, nice to be your acquaintance."
The messy blonde with the bow smirked and greeted as well, "I'm Lukrut, nice to meet ya."
Finally, the other blonde with a weapon introduced himself, "I'm Peter, nice to meet you Tobi-san."
Ninya spoke up, "We're the adventurer team, the Swords of Darkness." He said the team name with pride.
"What about the scary dude, the scary lady, and the other blonde?" Tobi asked which got him a glare from the beautiful lady and a curious glance from the dark warrior.
The "other" blonde smiled and introduced himself as Nfirea Bareare, a pharmacist. Momon introduced himself with amusement. Nabe only gave her name after a glare from Momon.
"It's nice to meet you all! I'm Tobi!"
Entrance to E-Rantel was as busy as always. The immigrants from distant villages were the only thing that set this day apart from the rest. The occasional adventurer team getting a shortcut through the system.
"So what are these... paper balls?" A guard asked as he inspected a paper ball taken from Tobi's cloak.
"They're magical bombs!" Tobi exclaimed childishly. They guard raise an eyebrow at the response.
"You a mage?" The guard asked.
"Yes! Tobi is a mage! EXPLOSION!" Tobi exclaimed throwing a small paper bomb in the air. The guards readied their weapons in anticipation of an attack but when the small ball shined brightly it exploded in a small plume of ashes that couldn't even kill a fly.
"Eh?" The guards looked at the ash as it vanished without a trace in confusion.
"Tobi is so sorry if I scared you!" Tobi apologized sheepishly. The guards released a sigh of relief.
"Yes you nearly gave us a heart attack," the guard that held Tobi's paper bombs said as he hurriedly gave back the rather weak explosive bomb. "Thus we nee-"
"Please let Tobi through!" Tobi exclaimed in his childish voice. His eyes shining red for a brief second. The guard's eyes went blank and nodded.
"You may pass," the guard said in a tone that sounded dead. The guards looked at their fellow guard and Tobi for a second before going back to their duties.
"Yippee! Tobi is in E-Rampel!" Tobi exclaimed happily. It worked.
"It's E-Rantel," Ninya told him with a smile. "That was fast," he added.
"Tobi is awesome!" Tobi declared with a puff of his chest. "I do not see-?"
"They went ahead," Ninya swiftly cut in. "Mr. Momon and Nabe went to the guild to register their pet," he added. "Also are you really a mage?"
"Yup! Tobi is a good mage!" Tobi exclaimed. "Where are we going?"
Ninya smiled brightly and replied, "We're going to the Nfirea's pharmacy to help finish the request, although I bet that they are already done by now."
"Oh! So adventures are mercenaries!" Tobi said while pounding a right fist on his open left palm. "I want to be an adventurer!" He stated.
"You could, but you would need to sign up at the Adventurer's Guild," Ninya explained as he gestured to a building. "Momon and Nabe should be in there right now."
"Let's go see the doctor!" Tobi said excitedly.
Ninya looked at him confused. "A doctor? Are you sick?" He asked.
"Nope! But isn't Nfirea a doctor?" Tobi asked while tilting his head in confusion.
Ninya shook his head. "Nope. Nfirea is a pharmacist or a person who sells medicine and potions," he explained.
"Oh right! Nifireah did say the on the road," Tobi admitted while mispronouncing his name.
"Yeah, when we met you he did say that." Ninya walked to a wooden building that had a sign that Tobi guessed said "Pharmacy." Ninya looked at the door in confusion. "Huh, the doors open."
Ninya was the first to step in the pharmacy. "Hello? Anyone here?" He asked as he looked around. Tobi looked around while not saying a word, an unusual behavior coming from a joyful person.
"Blood," Tobi squeaked just loud enough for Ninya to barely hear.
"Hm? Did you sa-" she was cut off as the entrance opened to reveal an old woman.
"What are you kids doing in here?" The grandma asked with annoyance. Momon stepped in a moment later with Nabe trailing behind.
"They're part of the adventurer group that Nfirea-san hired along side me," Momon said to the old woman, his tone darker than usual. He suddenly perked up his head. "This can't end well..." he said as he walked to the back while drawing one of his huge swords.
Ninya and the old woman looked confused while Tobi's mood seemed to darken. "W-What do you mean?" The old woman asked.
"Just stay near me," he ordered. Tobi, Nabe, Ninya, and the old woman followed the dark warrior.
Momon kicked the door with his foot and immediately the stench of blood assaulted them immediately. "Eek!" The old woman cried.
Ninya knew those bodies. The faces of the people she spent the most time with.
"Dyne! Peter! Lukrut!" Ninya screamed as she moved to go to their bodies but was stopped by Momon. "S-Sir M-Momon..."
"Zombies," he simply said as he gestured to the rising corpses of Dyne, Peter, and Nukrut. Ninya started to break down.
"D-Dyne... Lu-ukrut... Pet-ter..." He sobbed. Tobi came up behind her and handed her a handkerchief. "T-Tobi."
Tobi started to tear up. "Wahhh! My first friends! Wahhh!" He cried as he tears started to drip underneath his mask.
Ninya blinked away tears before hugging Tobi to not only comfort the childish masked man but to comfort himself. Together they mourned the lost of Ninya's friends.
Nabe looked at the scene in utter disgust. "Tch. Insects," she muttered as she walked to join Momon who slew all the undead corpses of the adventurers.
Secretly Tobi's eye glowed red with amusement. Tch like I'll cry for these humans. Never the less he "mourned" for the deceased adventurers.
"Nfirea!" The old woman shouted as she looked for the blonde, vanishing behind a door.
"Nabe," Momon said.
"Right away," Nabe replied as she went to fetch the worried woman.
He looked over to Tobi and Ninya in an almost sympathetic gaze. "This is unpleasant..."
Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly, Ninya was the first to stand. "M-Mom-mon-san..." He quivered in fear.
Momon looked over to the writing on the wall. "Nfirea was taken through the sewers," the dark warrior stated, although if you looked hard enough he was struggling just to read the word. It's like a modern language! Just put the symbols together...
"Nfirea isn't here..." the old woman said in a somber tone. Then she saw the writing. "The sewers!" This confirmed Momon's hard work. "He's been taken to the sewers!"
Momon looked at this in a strategic outlook. "I have doubts about that," he voiced. "It might be a decoy. Even it's true, searching the whole sewers is a bit..." {Create Undead}... tier 3 magic, then there's at least a tier 3 magician among them.
"We need to act quickly," Momon declared suddenly.
"W-What do you mean?" The old woman asked.
"Instead of hiding the corpses, they decided to fool around with them. That shows time isn't a concern to them," Momon explained. Momon paused before saying, "Would you like to request my help? You're in luck, Lizzie Bareare, I'm standing here before you. I'm the strongest adventurer in this town, if you request my help, I'm not against accepting. But it won't come cheap." There was after a moment of silence as Lizzie thought on the request.
Ninya took the moment to speak. "M-Mr. Momon! Please let me come with you!" He requested.
Momon took a glance at the small boy and replied while facing Lizzie. "You're only going to get in the way," he stated rudely.
"Tobi will help you!" Tobi declared, seemingly out of his somber mood.
Nabe looked at Tobi in disgust. "You're even worse than him, mongrel," she snapped.
Tobi's mood went somber again. "B- But... Tobi is a good boy!" He cried.
"Nabe," Momon glared at his partner. "She's right though," he sighed. "We're getting sidetracked... do accept my services, Lizzie Bareare?"
Lizzie seemed to already make up her mind. "I'll hire you!" She declared.
"Then as payment, you shall give me everything," he said with emphasis on the "everything."
Lizzie didn't seem to retort or ask for another price, instead, she replied, "It's said that a demon will grant you a wish in exchange for your soul. But you... you are something else."
Momon's eyes seemed to glow red. Tobi inwardly chuckled. Nabe looked with minor pride. Ninya looked shocked.
In the end, it was later found that the place where Nfirea was taken was in the graveyard of E-Rantel. Despite warnings and threats, Ninya and Tobi followed the couple, albeit they were there as backup mages.
When the arrived, the gates that were built for keeping the undead in were getting ooverrun The guards tried to stop them by telling them to turn back, but of course, Momon ignored them and slayed a {Necrosome Giant} by throwing one of his swords like a javelin.
Ninya used his magic to retrieve the sword for Momon. "Thank you," he said politely.
"Explosion! Explosion! Explosion! H-Help my bombs aren't working!" Tobi yelped as he ran away from a dozen zombies while throwing his rather weak bombs, occasionally only taking out a single weak zombie. "Heeeeellllpppp mmmmmeeeeeee!" He continued to scream.
"{Lightning!}" A voice called as all the zombies following Tobi were instantly killed when lightning pierced their rotting hearts. "Tch. You're completely useless," Nabe scoffed as she drew her sword.
"Thank you, Nabe-chan!" Tobi chirped happily, luckily Nabe was so pissed with Tobi to even think about it. "Oops!" He yelped as he covered the place where his mouth should've been.
The orange masked man sighed in relief as no one paid attention to him. He then took out a massive bomb from out of nowhere. The bomb was at least as big as the nuclear bomb dropped on Hiroshima. "Big explosion!" He called as he threw the bomb as far as he could, the bomb was luckily weightless due to the fine craftsmanship of his king, Madara.
The bomb landed right in the center of the horde and a 50 meter wide flash decimated the undead, killing about 60 undead. Tobi collapsed, "huffing" in "exhaustion."
"Tobi is a good boy."
Ninya walked to his side and poked his mask with a stick. "Are you dead?" He asked, a little bit scared but mainly curious.
"Nope! Tobi is a good boy!" Tobi exclaimed childishly.
"Phew, I thought I lost you too," Ninya started to tear up. "You're my only friend, now. Please do not leave me," he said as he broke down.
Tobi's eyes looked downtrodden as the small boy started to cry on him. Tch. Humans are so emotional... very much like my previous self. "Rin..." He muttered but only loud enough for only him to hear; a picture of Rin overlapped with Ninya. The also have the same color hair...
I'm not a pedophile!
"That was some unorthodox magic," Momon muttered as he continued to slay as many undead as he could.
Nabe floated down next to him, Hamuske was shivering on a tree. "Tobi and Ninya are staying at the entrance," she reported as she walked to stand a foot behind Momon.
"Very well. {Medium creature creation: Jack the Ripper; Corpse Collector}" Momon chanted as two creatures suddenly appeared before him. "Go." The two imposing monsters then begin their massacre of the low-level undead.
"And also this... {low level creature creation: Bone Vulture; Wraith}" A skeleton bird with a very small amount of feathers and aghsot-like being appeared in the same fashion as the medium level monsters. "You two are to drive out anyone from the cemetery. You may kill the adventurers but avoid killing the guards," he ordered.
"Now," Momon took his swords from the earth and readied them. "Let's go."
"Let's go help them!" Tobi exclaimed as he stood up, seemingly recovered from "exhaustion."
Ninya shook his head. "You must be exhausted, Tobi. Please take a rest," he said, "Momon and Nabe should be holding the line for now."
Tobi's eyes widened as a shadow covered both of them. "Explosion!" He cried as he threw a ball at the creature. Instead of creating a little bit of smoke, the ball exploded and it burnt off the beak of the bird.
"W-Wha..." Ninya was speechless as the corpse of the bird fell down with a sickening crack.
"Tobi's a good boy!" He chirped as he threw a bomb at a ghost. "Explosion!"
Ninya sat there speechless. "Is this your talent?" He asked.
Tobi turned. "I do not know what a talent is," he admitted, his childish demeanor switching off for this moment. "We need to find to Momon and Nabe."
Ninya couldn't even understand half of the things that was happening. The seemingly useless guy, the death of his friends, and the seemingly useless guy becoming very useful. Life is full off twists and turns, sadness and happiness.
Tobi motioned for Ninya to follow. As he caught up to Tobi he asked, "Who are you?"
Even if there was a mask covering Tobi's face, Ninya knew he smiled sincerely. "I'm Tobi," he repeated his name sheepishly as he continued his path.
The walked in silence. "Ninya, are you a girl?" Tobi asked suddenly still, his voice was childish.
Ninya looked away with a slight blush on his (her) cheeks. "H-How did you figure out?"
"You looked like a pretty boy," Tobi admitted. Taking that as a compliment, Ninya blushed furiously. "Also Ninya is a more girlish name," Tobi added as an afterthought.
They stopped dead in their tracks, undead decaying bodies littered ahead and standing over them was a tall solemn man with a mask obscuring his features and a deformed mummy. Tobi still had his childish persona but Ninya felt that he was ready to spring at any given time. The two beings didn't notice of them as they finished the last batch of undead zombies.
Jack the Ripper and Corpse Collector, Lord Ainz must've summoned them. Tobi mused as he readied a fist full of bombs. "Don't step from there," he ordered Ninya childishly.
Ninya looked at him in a confused manor. "But they are adventurers..."
"Look at that scary man and at a zombie! They're to scary to be human!" Tobi said defensively. Ninya still looked unsure until she noticed the deathly pale skin of the most humanoid of the pair.
He must be... he must have a disease! But that thought was also thrown out of the window when she noticed how the man flowed through the battle with ease. That's... that is...
Tobi didn't waste any more time and formed a single sign and called on a technique his previous self developed for this persona. "Hiding Like A Mole Technique!" He suddenly disappeared in the ground.
"Wha-" Ninya was abruptly cut off as Tobi appeared on her side again a moment later.
"Mine Field!" Tobi exclaimed. The two creatures took notice of them from the noise Tobi made and charged at them, all according to his plan. "Explosion!".
Suddenly the area in front of the two flashed brightly with numerous explosions. The ground shook, the shock wave could be felt throughout the cemetery.
When the dust settled, the two creatures were no more than dust. Ninya looked at Tobi wide eyed. "Y-You could do that?"
"Tobi picked it up from Mr. Deidera!" Tobi replied cheerfully. He put a finger on the bottom of his mask. "It was our special combo using his clay bombs!"
"Y-You killed a person!" She yelled in frustration when she finally came to her senses. The shock of the easy going, goofing man killing fellow adventurers overrode her previous doubts of the now deceased people.
Before Tobi could reply a loud roar shook them. "I-Is that a dragon?!" He yelped as he stumbled and fell.
Ninya was in no better condition than him as she tripped and fell beside him. "I-It's... a skeletal dragon," she wavered. Scratch that, she was in worse condition than Tobi.
I have no doubt that Naberial and Ainz-sama are in the midst of battle. Tobi looked at Ninya. Wait. His mind looked at this sensibly. Ninya must not know of Nazarick, yet.
Ninya was about to go the commotion but Tobi turned and ran, while screaming, "Tobi scared!" Ninya reached for him but the masked man was quicker than he looked.
Taking a look at the skeleton dragon once more, she almost had an heartattack when she saw not one but two dragons. The thought of turning back and running away like Tobi was doing was more reasonable now. "W-Wait for me!" Ninya shouted as she took off after Tobi to catch up.
Naberial heard the screams of the other companions. "Tch. The ants are louder than the dragon," she muttered under her breath in disgust. The blast was strong, she admitted. She wondered if they caused the explosion but right now she had dragons to slay.
"That was scary," Tobi heaved in "exhaustion."
Ninya nodded in agreement. "B-But what a-about Sir Momon and Nabe? Surely they can't defeat dragons?" She asked, her words contradicting the feeling in her gut.
"Dark warrior-san and scowl-chan are heroes! They surely won't lose to a overgrown skeleton lizard!" Tobi exclaimed in a way that sounded like a... fanboy?
He sounds like admirer who gives nicknames to his heroes. Ninya thought with a comical sweat drop.
"Should we wait for them here?" Ninya asked as the gates came in to view.
"Look! It's one of the adventurers!" A guard shouted with happiness. "You really saved us from the undead!"
A group of adventures were at the gate, kept from the graveyard only by the guards who were trying to tell them off. "Some adventures already finished the undead!" A guard tried to reassure the mass of adventurers.
"Then let us through! There should be no problem with that right?!" An adventurer shouted back.
"It's illegal to visit the cemetery during this time!" The guard shouted back. "The only reason they entered was because they entered illegally!"
"Is that why the cemetery gates are blown off the hinges?" Another adventurer asked calmly but he was overheard by the numerous shouting of the other adventurers.
"Look! There are some adventures there!" Another adventurer shouted in anger.
The guards made way for Tobi and Ninya, trying to hold back the other adventurers. Then a guard walked Tobi and Ninya. "I thought there were four of you?" He asked.
Ninya decided to the talking as she explained the situation to the guard, the other adventurers still were in an uproar but they still tried to eavesdrop on the conversation. At the end of the explanation, the adventurers were more eager to enter the cemetery and shouted, "There are dragons to slay!"
Then an agitated voice silenced most of them. "What is happening here?" Momon asked.
"Did you defeat the dragons?" Ninya asked.
"Yes," was the simple reply of Nabe, her scowl was passive now. A wolf whistle from some of the adventurers made her mood darken. "Lowly insects," she muttered darkly.
The guard walked up to Momon and asked, "Are you paying for the damages?" Momon's mood seemed to darken at the mention of the damages.
"He was the one who blown the gate off the hinges," Momon replied in a monotone as he pointed at Tobi. The said childish masked man was oblivious of the accusation made by the dark warrior.
The guard raised an eyebrow at the accusation but ultimately decided to go to Tobi with it.
"What! Twenty gold coins?!" Tobi exclaimed in shock as he receive the news. By now all the adventurers went home and the tired guards switched shifts and carried the injured away. "Tobi doesn't have that money!"
"Well that sucks because you need to pay," the guard replied tiredly.
"B-But. B-But," Tobi started to tear up making the guard kinda feel bad.
"Here you go, sir," Ninya spoke up as she handed him the specified amount. The guard blinked and nodded in satisfaction.
Tobi released a sigh of major relief. "You are a lifesaver!" He cried tears of wet happiness.
"Yeah... you don't have a place to stay do you?" Ninya asked.
"Nope!" Tobi chirped cheerfully.
"Well... the place Peter booked is under the Swords of Darkness' name," Ninya's voice wavered when she mentioned Peter, "he booked two rooms."
"Really?! Awesome!" Tobi exclaimed happily. "Lead the way!"
Ninya smiled faintly. He's my only friend now... I swear I'll protect him!
"Friends forever!" Tobi exclaimed happily as he pointed his pinky at Ninya. The smile on the last member of the Swords of Darkness widened with pure happiness.
"Friends forever!"
Momon walked silently down the street, Nabe obediently followed a step back. "Tobi..." he tested the name as skimmed his memories.
"Something bothering you, Ainz-sama?" Nabe asked politely, Momon was to deep in his thoughts to chastise her.
"No... yes... do you suppose Tobi is a spy from Madara?" Momon asked.
Nabe looked at him in confusion. "The annoying ant, Ainz-sa-?" this time Momon bopped her.
"Do not say my name while I'm in this suit, I'm Momon, the adventurer not Ainz Ooal Gown, Naberial's master," Momon chastised. "Honestly, if you can't get that right then I must order you back to Nazarick."
To Nabe's credit, her face was calm. "I'm sorry for this servant's impudence, shall I kill myself?" She asked as she brought her sword to her neck.
Momon sighed, "Put away your sword, Nabe." The look that he sent her made her shiver in unconscious fear.
"Yes, Momon-san," Nabe replied as she sheathed her sword. Her face changed in to submission.
"Now give me your opinion," Momon ordered.
"I do not believe that a supreme being like Lord Madara would create such weak annoying ant," Nabe stated. Momon inwardly cringed.
Good thing she hadn't met Pandora's Actor, yet. He thought with relief as he thought about his creation's ludicrous settings. That reminds me, I need to check up on that guy.
"That may be true as Madara-san values strength, intelligence, and power over everything else, everything that Tobi isn't, but Madara-san is a type of businessman to deceive and manipulate to get what he wants. That is how he became CEO of one of the largest companies in Japan," Momon stated, completely forgetting that Nabe isn't from Japan.
"May you please enlighten this lowly servant on the terms: businessman, CEO, and Japan, Ainz-sama," Nabe asked respectively which earned her another bop from Momon.
"It's Momon. As for the terms... I'll leave the two first ones for later explanation. Japan is the place... in the realm of gods that me and Madara-san came from," Momon explained to the doppelgänger. Nabe nodded in satisfaction as she bowed deeply.
"Forgive me for my ignorance, Ainz-sama," Nabe said as she continued to bow.
"Rise, we have things to do," Momon mumbled as he walked off with Nabe trailing behind.
A ping in the back of his mind notified him of a {Message}. Before he could speak, a distress voice of Albedo racked his mind, "Shaltear has started a rebellion!"
Madara
Madara sat on his throne, a single Grey Guard kneeled before him. His face was impassive from the information he just received.
My worst chapter in this story. 1,000 words less than the last chapter.
UPDATE: edited the ending so instead it's the Blood Valkyrie arc. (I'm so dumb!)
Do you see the easter eggs?
I got the first four light novels of the Overlord series when I was about to upload this :D
