Charlotte licked her lips nervously as she approached the familiar brown door. She fidgeted as she stood there, cracking her knuckles and swaying from side to side as she built up the nerve to walk in. This was the moment she had been secretly dreading for the longest. She originally planned on telling him earlier whenever she got the chance, but those two weeks had been completely magical and she completely forgot all about it. Until an envelope showed up.

It was her welcome folder for Harvard University. It was filled with everything she'd need to start her first year at school and she had to start making plans. She needed to figure out whether she wanted to stay on campus, she'd be getting her schedule soon, she had to talk to advisors and counselors about extracurriculars and much more. And she only had a few weeks to do this all as she had to be back in the States by September to move in. She sighed heavily. She knew Henry wasn't going to be happy about this but he'd have to understand. She licked her lips once more before knocking on the door and walking inside.

Jasper was in the kitchen cooking up some horrible likely inedible meal, while Henry sat on the couch watching Doctor Dog. He looked up when he heard the door open and smiled brightly at the sight of his girlfriend, jumping up from the couch and bouncing over to meet her. Almost instantly she forgot about why she was there and quickly jumped into his embrace, sighing happily when he greeted her with a kiss. Henry was absolutely intoxicating and hypnotizing. They had only been together for such a short period of time but it felt like months, years, decades of love and passion was between them. He broke the kiss and gently nuzzled their noses together, his strong arms wrapped around her waist to keep her close to him.

"Hey, beautiful," he purred and she couldn't help the wide smile that spread onto her face. She was so enamored with him.

"Hey, handsome," she replied with a small giggle. She quickly remembered what she was there for and cleared her throat. "Um, I have to talk to you." He nodded with a smile as he pulled away from her a little, taking her hand in his own and pulling her over to the couch.

"Alright. What's up?" He sat down on the couch and she sat next to him after waving to Jasper. She nervously cracked her knuckles again and sighed softly, looking down at her feet as she couldn't manage to look into those pretty brown eyes again.

"So, uh…I got my welcome packet from Harvard…" She bit down on her lip and looked at him again. "I also got one from Stanford but you know I was always planning on going to Harvard." Surprisingly, Henry blossomed into a large smile and took her hand into his own.

"That's awesome! Two super prestigious schools are basically begging you to join them. You should be proud, babe." He pressed a kiss to her cheek and she smiled at him. This was going a lot better than she thought it would. She expected him to be upset but he was being so understanding and supportive. He had grown up and changed so much. Jasper jumped back from the stove as whatever he was cooking suddenly went up in flames. He quickly covered the pot with a lid and hesitated for a moment before turning to face the couple.

"Yeah, that's awesome, Char! They're gonna be so disappointed when you turn them down," he said and she knitted her eyebrows together in confusion. She opened her mouth to speak but Henry chuckled as he looked at Jasper.

"Right?! I can already see those old guys crying like, 'oh no, the smartest girl in the world turned us down!'" He started to make fake crying noises as Jasper laughed and joined in. Charlotte stared at them completely lost before closing her eyes and shaking her head.

"Uh…guys? I'm not…turning them down," she said and Henry turned his attention to her again. His smile slowly faded as he took in what she said and he quirked his head to the side a little.

"Wait, what?"

"I'm not turning Harvard down," she clarified. "I'm…I'm going. My gap year is up." Henry sat up straight as he stared at her. He couldn't believe it. They spent a year together in Dystopia playing around their feelings and avoiding what they both knew was there. Now that they were finally together, she was going to leave? He shook his head in disbelief and stood up, starting to pace back and forth.

"Wait, wait, wait. You're going? Harvard is in Massachusetts! You're just going to drop everything we've had this entire year and go halfway across the world?!" he asked incredulously. She sighed and stood up as well, taking his hands.

"Listen, you know my dream has always been to go to Harvard, become a lawyer, and eventually become President! I took a gap year to come to Dystopia but I was always going to go back for school," she explained.

"I get that was your dream but I thought things changed! I mean…I thought I was your dream now! Everything we have, you're just going to give it all up?" He gripped her hands tightly and his voice trembled a little, breaking her heart. She hated this so much.

"Henry," she started with a sigh, "I'm not giving us up. I'm doing what I've always wanted and going to school."

"Halfway across the world!" he said. "How can we be together with you all the way over there?"

"We can have a long distance relationship!" she offered and he rolled his eyes. He let go of her hands and ran his fingers through his curly blond hair as he turned away from her. He felt like his world was crashing around him.

"You and I both know that won't work." He turned to face her and folded his arms. "You're not going." She blinked slowly and scoffed, folding her arms across her chest as well.

"Excuse me?"

"You're not going," he repeated. "It's not fair. You can't just abandon us like this." She chuckled mirthlessly and rolled her eyes.

"Henry, I may call you daddy in bed but you're not my father. You can't tell me what I can and cannot do. Harvard is my dream!"

"Yeah, but I'm your fucking boyfriend!" he argued as he gestured to his face. "I think I should have some kind of say in whether my girlfriend goes halfway around the world for four years!"

"Of course you have a say, Henry! But your say can't be that I just can't go, that's so unfair!" she argued back and he let out a disbelieving chuckle as his hands ran over his face.

"Well, fuck, Charlotte!" he shouted. "Can you not be selfish for once and think about us?! You and me, all three of us! You're just gonna up and leave Jasper and I because of your 'dream'?!" He added air quotes as he mockingly said dream and she felt her eyes double in size. She couldn't believe this.

"Selfish?! Are you fu— Henry, I've always done everything I could for you!"

"Oh, please," he said dismissively as he walked away from her. She remained in place as she glared at him.

"Oh, haven't I?! I started working with you and Ray to help you guys out, I've constantly lied for you and helped you out of trouble, I'm even here in Dystopia fighting crime instead of doing charity work like I originally planned to! I changed my whole life for your benefit and all I ever got in return was you and Ray dismissing me, ignoring me, getting me hurt, and now I'm being called selfish?! You're the selfish one, Henry!" She breathed heavily as she glared at him, watching as he turned to face her again. She could see hurt and betrayal all over his face but this wasn't fair. He wasn't being fair. They stared at each other for a few tense moments, both of them forgetting Jasper was even there as he awkwardly watched the two. He wanted to butt in and say something but he was at a loss for words. Finally, Henry broke the tense silence.

"I thought you loved me," he said with a strained voice that broke Charlotte's heart.

"I do, Henry. This doesn't have to be the end. We-"

"Please!" he interrupted as he walked over to her again. "You're going to go to Harvard, meet some handsome smart guy, and forget all about me! You're gonna forget about us!" She sighed and ran her fingers through her curls.

"Is that what you're worried about? Henry, I love you. I'll never forget about you. I can come back during breaks, and we can video chat, and call each other. We can manage this, Hen," she said with a gentle voice. She reached up and gently cupped his face in her hands, pulling him down so their foreheads were pressed together. He breathed out and grabbed her arms, holding her desperately close.

"I don't want that. I want you here, with me. Please, Char, please don't go. Please stay with me." He looked deep into her eyes, his own filled with so much desperation. Charlotte felt like crying but she kept herself together as she took a few deep breaths.

"Henry, I love you. I love you so much. But this is important to me. Please don't make me give this up." She felt a shiver run through her as she saw his face call and his eyes grow cold. He let go of her arms and stepped away from her, jaw tight.

"Fine, go," he spat with such venom. "But don't expect me to do some stupid long distance relationship. I'm not going to wait for you." She sighed heavily and ran her hands over her face.

"Henry-"

"No. You can't do this one simple thing for me? Fine! Go get your precious education but don't expect me to be here waiting for you. I'm done wasting my time on you." She scoffed and raised an eyebrow as she eyed him.

"You're wasting your time on me? Really?" she inquired and he nodded.

"Yeah," he answered with a shrug. "I'm always saving you. You're always in the fucking way, you never did much for us anyway whether it was back in Swellview or here, you're nothing but a distraction and this whole relationship was a stupid mistake! I don't even know why I settled for you! Clearly, I was just desperate and felt bad for you!" He didn't mean it, he didn't mean any of it. He was just hurt and he wanted her to hurt like he was. Jasper finally decided that he needed to speak up. It was going too far.

"Guys, come on…" he said as he walked over to them from the kitchen but Charlotte could only focus on Henry and the words that stung so badly. She couldn't keep her tears at bay as they began to roll down her cheeks.

"You settled for me?!" she yelled with a trembling voice. "You're the high school dropout! Clearly, you're just fucking jealous because I can actually go to college and have a legitimate career while you're just going to spend the rest of your life as some two-bit superhero in this fucking wasteland of a town! I'm the one who fucking settled! I settled for an immature, selfish, rude, pathetic coward!" Henry glared at her, his own eyes filled with tears as Jasper stood between them.

"Come on, stop! You two don't mean this!" He tried to reason with them but Henry shook his head.

"Nah, she clearly fucking meant that. I'm glad you got that off your chest, Charlotte. Have fun at Harvard, I'm gonna have fun here fucking every girl I meet who's prettier than you. Won't be too hard." His brain told him to shut up, stop, and apologize. He was making a mistake. But his heart told her to hurt her in any way he possibly could, so he did. And he hated how well it was working. She let out a shaky breath as she stared at him.

"You're such a jerk. I can't believe you're doing this," she breathed out as she wiped at her tears. He wanted to hold her and tell her he was sorry, but he was just too hurt and angry to do so.

"Believe it. Get the fuck out of my apartment," he said coldly. Jasper turned and looked at him.

"Dude, come on."

"No, it's fine," Charlotte said with a dry chuckle. She threw her hands in the air and shook her head as she walked to the door. She wanted Henry to tell her to stop and stay so they could talk. She would apologize for what she said and he would apologize as well, they'd kiss and make up and talk things through, and everything would be okay. But the only one calling her name was Jasper as Henry stood there stubbornly and refused to look at her. She opened the door and looked at them through blurry tearful vision.

"Bye Jasper…"

"Char, come on. This is stupid," the raspberry blond said despite the growing lump in his throat. He turned to Henry. "Come on dude, you don't want her to leave right?" Henry looked at him then glanced at Charlotte before looking at the wall again.

"I don't care." The words were so cold and distant, it didn't even sound like Henry. She shook her head and stepped out of the apartment.

"Goodbye Henry, forever." She closed the door behind her and hesitated for a moment. Maybe he'd come to get her and they could fix it all. This was all a stupid fight and they could move past it. But the door remained closed and Henry didn't come for her. She covered her mouth to hold back her sobs, waiting a few more seconds before finally walking away and leaving Henry and Jasper behind for good.

Inside, Henry remained stubborn as Jasper did his best to try and talk some sense into him. This was just a stupid fight. Charlotte was going to walk right back in through that door and they'd make up. They always had stupid fights and they always made up in the end. But as the moments passed, the door didn't open and Henry could feel his blood run cold. He looked at the door then to his best friend. Jasper could see the panic developing in his eyes.

"Dude…she's gone…" Jasper said as he felt his own heart break. "What the fuck, Hen?" The tall blond shook his head and chuckled nervously.

"We were just mad…she's gonna come back in three…two…one!" He pointed at the door but it didn't open. His heart pounded against his chest and he started to tremble a little. No. There was no way she was actually gone. It was just a stupid fight. They didn't mean anything they said. He hesitated before going over to the door and slowly opening it. He expected to see Charlotte on the other side ready to say she told him so and jump in his arms. But there was no one there, just the empty hallway. His body trembled a little as he stepped out of the apartment and looked down the hall.

"Char? Charlotte!" he called but there was no response. His head started to spin and he gripped his hair anxiously. What did he do? It was just a stupid fight. He walked back into the apartment and looked at Jasper, swallowing the lump in his throat.

"She's…gone…"

A/N: We finally see what broke chenry up. This wasn't meant to be a standalone chapter but it ended up being a little long so I decided to make it a standalone so it wouldn't be too long. Also, the rating has gone down because I decided to not go with any smut scenes. As I'm writing it out, I don't really see myself adding them. Maybe some suggestive scenes but nothing explicit. Anyway, thank you for reading, and please share your thoughts!
