(Vincent's Pov)
-Fifteen Weeks Later-
I was looking at the computer for a bit and then I get a call on my phone so I answer it.
"Sup?" I asked.
"Hey Vincent." Clem says and I chuckle a bit.
"Hey Clem, how was practice?" I asked and closed my laptop and leaned back in the chair.
"It was fine, actually I have one more class today, but afterwards do you want to maybe go on a small date?" She asked.
"Of course, I'll head up to you-."
"Sure, I'll see you soon." She says and I nod.
"Alright, love you." I tell her and she hung up and I sighed and rubbed my neck as I set the phone down. I think for a bit then grabbed my phone and called Brody.
"Vincent?" She asked.
"Hey how are you Brody?" I asked.
"I'm fine but why are you calling?" She asked and I rubbed my neck.
"Sorry I just uh… I wanted to uh… I know I was a girl and all but… Clem seems a bit distant." I explained to her.
"Is this about the baby?" She asked and I think.
"Maybe, I don't know in all honesty I don't blame her if she is mad at me with all this." I say.
"You should ask her about it, I know when we were there, she didn't seem too happy." She says and I nod.
"Alright, I can talk to her about it." I mutter and take a breath and looked to my computer. We hung up and I head out to my car and drive to Clementine. I was looking at my phone when I hear a tap at my window and saw Clementine and I chuckled as I stepped out and gave her a hug.
"Hey, how are you?" I asked.
"Fine, so you ready to head out?" She asked and I nod as I opened the door for her. We both got in and I started to drive.
"Hey uh… could we talk?" I asked.
"About?" She asked and I look at her as she looked out the side window.
"Well… I just… are you still mad?" I asked.
"I… yes, I am for fuck's sake I just…. You're having a baby with your Ex-girlfriend, someone who screwed you over and caused you so many problems, and yet you're having a baby with her, and you are fine with it." She tells me and I look to the road.
"I… I didn't do it intentionally, yes, I still dislike her but for fuck sake she is having my kid, my first kid, what else am I supposed to do?" I asked Clem.
"I don't know, honestly is Minerva going to be involved in your life?" She asked.
"She's the mother of my child, I'm going to have to have her involved." I tell her.
"Great, just great." She mutters.
"Clem, you act as if I'm going to date her." I say.
"It might as well seem like it."
"Clementine, I don't love her like that, I want to be in my daughter's life, I have to be nice to her or she will hold my daughter against me and I don't want that type of life for her." I explained.
"Then you should show she's an unfit mother."
"Clem they would pin me as an unfit father before they would get her, doesn't matter how much drugs she did before all of this, they would go after me before her." I tell her.
"You-." Clem was interrupted as I got a call on my phone so I answered it.
"VINCENT IT'S MINERVA!" Sophie yelled.
"Woah hold on what is going on?" I asked.
"It's the baby, she's having the baby-."
"Wait it's too early." Clementine says.
"I know but something happened and she's having the baby now, you have to come now." Sophie says.
"Alright where?" I asked and it turned out that she was in the hospital in Macon so I hurried to the hospital and we get there. Clem called her parents and I hurried inside to the front desk.
"I uh... baby… um." I tried to speak.
"Sorry, is there a Minerva-."
"Guys, sorry this is my sisters uh… the father." Sophie explained.
"Oh Minerva, room 305." The nurse says and I nod as we followed Sophie and I look at the door a bit and rubbed my arm.
"Go in there you idiot." Clem says and I look at her then to the door and I take a breath and walked in. Six hours, six God damn hours my hand was crushed and I felt like passing out but here I was looking at my daughter as she was sleeping in the little bassinets they have in the nursery.
"Cute kid." I hear and look to see Louis and nod as I look back to the nursery.
"Yea just… wow." I mutter and then I see Clementine as she comes over to me.
"Hey, want to meet her?" I asked and Clementine nods and I go over to the nurse in charge and she let's us in and I smiled as the nurse handed me my daughter and I look at Clementine as she looked to my daughter.
"What's her name?" Clem asked.
"Hazel Marie Aldon." I tell her and I look down my daughter.
"Got to admit, she does look cute, look she has your hair." Clementine says as she gently moves some hair from my daughters face and I smiled and nodded. I look to Clementine as I hold the baby out to her, she looks at me then holds her hand out and I gently place my daughter in her arms. I watched as Clem held my daughter and I saw her smile a bit. When the nurse said we had to leave for a bit and we nodded as Clem handed my daughter back, we then headed to Minerva's room and she was still sleeping and I saw Sophie and the rest of the band there too.
"You saw the baby?" Brody asked and I nodded.
"Yea she's a real cutie." Clem says and I chuckled.
"How is your hand?" Marlon asked.
"Surprisingly not broken." I laughed a bit and looked to my hand then I look to the others. A few hours had passed and Minerva woke up just as they brought the baby in after they gave her a checkup.
"Well, hello seems like Hazel has a lot of Visitors." Minerva says and I nod and the nurse left the room. I looked at Hazel again and I get up and grab her from her bassinet and sat next to Minerva as she looked to the baby.
"She has Vincent's hair." Tenn. says and I nod and he comes over to look at the baby and I look up to see Clementine also looking at me.
"When can you take the baby home?" He asked.
"In about two days." Minerva says and I just look to Hazel and rock the chair a bit as she wakes up and I see her eyes and they were green like mine. I heard a camera sound and looked to see Clementine with her phone out and she looks to me then comes over and shows me the photo she took. I couldn't help but smile a bit and I look up to her as she moved the phone away and looked at the photo herself.
"Hey she has Vincent's eyes." Brody says. They all stayed till visiting hours were over and I watched as Minerva held Hazel and I look to Clementine as she got up.
"Hey we will be back tomorrow, ok?" I asked and Minerva nods as I get up as well and Clementine and I headed out the hospital.
"Sooo?" I asked as Clementine headed to the car.
"Ok I have to admit the baby is adorable." She says and I chuckled.
"She looks a hell of a lot like me when I was a baby." I say to her and she nods.
"I have seen your baby photos and yes she does look like you." She says to me and I smile.
"Oh, fuck I have to call my parents." I say as I grabbed my phone and called them.
"Oh, Vincent how are you?" My father asked as I turned my car on and the phone hooked up to the Bluetooth.
"Is mom there?" I asked.
"Yea she's here, why something happen?" He asked.
"Put her on speaker please." I tell him and he does.
"Hey Vincent what's wrong?" My mom asked.
"Mom, dad… I'm sorry I didn't call earlier but… my daughter is here." I tell them.
"Oh my god, you should have called." My mom says and Clementine laughed a little.
"I was busy getting my hand crushed, but hey I can get a plane out to you two and you can get here tomorrow." I tell them.
"Are you sure?" My dad asked.
"Yea I'm sure, I wouldn't keep you away from her." I tell them. We made some plans and I called Louis and asked if he could make plans for a plane to go to my parents and he said he would. I looked to Clementine as she looked to her phone.
"You good?" I asked.
"Yea just… I don't know." She says and I felt bad at this answer. I know Clem said she wouldn't trust me anymore and I deserved it but she knows she can tell me what's on her mind.
"You want to come with me tomorrow?" I asked.
"I have school, sorry." She tells me and I rubbed my neck a bit.
"You're going to rub your neck raw." She says as she moved my hand away from my neck and I sighed.
"It's a habit sorry." I explained and she sighed.
"Look I know you don't trust me anymore; I get it I really do… but you know you can talk to me about anything, I just… fuck." I mutter and look to the road.
"Vincent… you look so happy holding Hazel and I guess I'm feeling jealous, not of the baby just… you look so happy." She tells me and I look at her then to the road.
"Are you…. Do you want a baby?" I asked her but she didn't answer me and I look back to her then to the road.
"Clem?" I asked.
"YES, OK YES!" She yelled and I look at her in shock.
"But-."
"I know I know I still want to wait till after I am finished with college and I just… I feel like a bitch because I wanted to make you happy, and when we went to the appointments and you were just amazed." She says and I pulled the car into our driveway.
"I… I'm sorry for making you feel like this I just… I…. fuck." I mutter as I shut the car off and tried to think all this stuff out. We went into the house and I look to Clementine as she took a seat on the couch and I sighed a bit and went over to her.
"Clementine, I just want you to know I love you." I tell her.
"I know you do, it's just I want to think this through, ok?" She asked and I look at her a bit and I nod.
"Alright… I can deal with that." I tell her and she nods. I then went into my office and checked on my shipment for work, we needed some more strings for the guitars and a new set of practice drums as well for the school, chuck said we also needed more supplies for making custom instruments which I had to make one acoustic for someone. It was a few hours before I had gone to bed on the couch and waited for tomorrow to come around.
"Vincent?" I hear and I wake up and look up to see Clementine looking at me.
"Hmm, school?" I asked and she nods and I hand her the keys to my car.
"Hm, just take the car it's fine." I mutter.
"Don't you have to get your parents?" She asked and I think and nod.
"Yea, sorry just… give me a minute." I mutter and lay my head into the couch a bit and groaned a bit as I get up and grabbed some coffee and looked to Clementine as she looked to me.
"Are you going to see Hazel today?" She asked and I nod a bit.
"Yea have to bring my parents to see her." I mutter a bit and I take her to the car. After dropping Clementine off at the school, I get a call from my parents to go and pick them up so I head to the airport and pick them up.
"Hello Vincent." My mom says and I give her a hug and I look to my dad and nod to him and I take them to the hospital to meet Hazel. We get to the room and Minerva was holding Hazel who was crying so I go over to her and I grabbed Hazel from her and she finally stopped crying and I smile at her.
"Aww you just missed your father." Minerva says and I chuckled as I look to my parents and brought Hazel over to them.
"Oh my god she looks just like you when you were a baby." My mom says and I nod at this.
"Yes, she does, look at her she so small too." I say as I hold Hazel's hand gently.
"You know for being born so early I'm surprised she's healthy." My dad says and I look at him.
"Uh… wait what?" I asked.
"Well, some premature have health issues, but she seems to be doing great." My mom says.
"She was only born four weeks early what… what could happen?" I asked a bit worried as I looked to Hazel who was just falling asleep in my arms.
"She does have a hard time when it comes to feeding her." Minerva mentions.
"Wait when."
"No don't worry she's doing fine now it just takes her some time, she's alright." Minerva says and I look to Hazel and I nod.
"Does she need to stay here longer or?" I asked.
"She needs to stay here for a bit longer yes." Minerva tells me and I sighed.
"Alright, alright." I mutter as I looked to her and then back to Hazel. We stayed here for a few hours and Minerva and the baby needed to have a checkup done so I told Minerva I would be back later today so my parents and I headed out and I took them to my house.
"So, how's everything with Clementine?" My father asked.
"We are a bit… we are talking it's just we have to talk these things out, and I honestly, I just… I lost her trust and I'm working to get it back." I explained to him.
"At least you are trying to work it out together." My mom says to me.
"Yea, anyway how long an you guys stay for?" I asked.
"Only a few days I have to get back to work, and your father is starting a new job too." My mother explained and I nod at this. We all go into the house and I got them some drinks and we talked for a bit before I got a call on my phone.
"Hey Clem." I say.
"Hey, mind picking me up?" She asked.
"Sure, oh want to go see the baby?" I asked her.
"Sure, need to get more pictures of you holding them." She says and I chuckled and looked to my parents and I nod.
"Alright I'll be right there give me a bit." I say and she agrees and hangs up. I look to my parents and they said they will stay here and I nod as I head out to my car and I go and get Clementine. As I drove back to the hospital Clementine asked me something but I wasn't listening.
"Vincent?" She asked.
"Hu? sorry I was just… zoning." I say and I look to her.
"I asked if you wanted to ask Minerva if we could have the baby over for a few weeks?" She asked.
"Oh uh… I think we can I'm not to sure." I say and think a bit.
"Are you good?" She asked.
"Yea just… I just uh…. Fuck." I mutter and just drive.
"Did something happen to the baby?" She asked.
"No, god no she's ok." I tell her and I pull up to the hospital parking lot and I look to the hospital a bit.
"Come on let's go see Hazel." She says and I nod as I get out the car and we head on in and I talk to the front desk nurse.
"Oh hello Mr. Aldon, you here to see the baby?" She asked and I smiled and nodded. We went to Minerva's room and she was holding Hazel and I go over to them.
"Hey, your dad is here." Minerva tells Hazel and I smiled as she handed me Hazel. I smiled as I looked down at her as she slept and I chuckled a bit and took a seat by the bed. We stayed at the hospital till visiting hours were over and the nurse took Hazel and I go and take Clementine home.
"Seeing you hold Hazel; it makes you calm." Clem says and I look to her.
"Does it?" I asked.
"Yea, she seems to have that effect on you." She tells me and I chuckled.
"She's just adorable, she's so small too, and she's… innocent, she doesn't know all the bad in the world yet… she… doesn't know…" I trailed off and looked to the road.
"Doesn't know what?" Clem asked and I shake my head.
"It's nothing." I mutter.
"Vincent?" She asked as I kept driving.
"She's going to know her dad is a freak." I mutter and looked to the side a bit then back to the road.
"Vincent you aren't a freak." She says and I look at her.
"I just… I'm just thinking to much." I mutter and I park in our driveway. I look to the house a bit and I take the time to think.
"Come on." She says and I nod as we get up and head inside. My mother and Clementine talk for a bit as I go in the kitchen and start working on dinner.
"Are you ok with everything?" I hear and look at my dad and I nod.
"Yea, I'm ok with everything." I tell him and he looked to the side a bit and I sighed.
"Dad… I just… I'm worried about being a dad, am I going to be a good dad, is she going to hate me when she gets older, am I going to mess up?" I asked him and he looked to me and laughed a little.
"Son, it's ok to worry, you're going to be like that for a long time, being a father is going to do that, especially with the fact that you have a daughter, trust me when you were little, I worried about you a lot." He says and I chuckled.
"Did you worry about me having a boyfriend?" I asked.
"Oh god no I didn't have to, when you were little, you would beat up kids that pulled your hair… never like the idea of parents telling their sons that pulling a girls hair means he likes her." He says and I chuckled.
"Yea, I should teach her how to kick ass." I say and finished up dinner. We all sat down at the table and had a nice meal. As the week passed us by, I went to visit Hazel at the hospital and today was her last day there. Clementine and I had a car seat ready to go and I walk into the hospital.
"Hey Minerva." I say as she looked to me and waved as she held Hazel.
"Hello Vincent, Clementine." She says and I go up and grabbed Hazel and smiled.
"Hello Princess." I say to her and chuckled a bit as she stayed asleep. I smiled and looked up to see Clementine smiling at me and I look to Minerva as she looks to me and I smiled at her too.
"So, when should we bring her back to your house?" I asked as we walked out the hospital.
"She should be fine next week; they gave me this bag for you." She says and hands me the bag and I nod as I go and place Hazel into the car seat.
"If she gets fussy, she likes the teddy bear you got her, but also check to see if she needs a diaper change." Minerva says and I nod at this.
"Alright, anything else?" I asked.
"Oh, she has to have this special formula to help her gain some weight." She says and I look at her and nod at this. Sophie then came over and took Minerva to their car but she came to say hi to Hazel and then they left. Clementine and I got into the car and I start to drive home.
"So, we have the crib set up, and the house baby proofed, as well, oh and I have books ready for her." I ranted.
"You're so excited for this." She tells me and I nod.
"Of course, should I not be?" I asked her a bit confused.
"No, you should be happy." She says and smile.
"I got those movies for her too, like what I use to watch as a kid like Lambchop and so on." I say and look to the road.
"You are going to spoil her, aren't you?" She asked and I nod.
"Yea, she's my princess of course I'm going to spoil her." I say and she laughed a little. I smiled and finally got us home and I grabbed Hazel from the back of the car and looked to Clementine as she opened the door for me and we head into the house and I set the car seat on the table and took Hazel out.
"You want to hold her?" I asked Clem and she nods as I hand her Hazel gently. Clem goes and takes a seat on the couch with Hazel and I smiled as I leaned on the armrest of the couch.
"This is nice actually." Clementine says and I chuckled.
"Yea?" I asked and she nods.
"Yes, I mean she's such a cutie." She tells me and I look at Hazel.
"Yea she's adorable." I say and then take a seat next to Clementine. It wasn't long till Hazel woke up and I looked at her and I chuckled as I give her my finger and she grip it a bit but she starts to make a face and starts to cry. I hurry and get up and grabbed a bottle for her. Once I was done, I handed Clementine the bottle and she started to feed Hazel.
"So, she needs to be on a bit of a schedule, I know it's not going to be full proof but it would be great." I say as I looked to Clementine.
"We can try that." She says and I nod. As a few hours passed I was currently laying on the couch with Hazel asleep on my chest. I gently rubbed her back and I was starting to get a bit tired myself.
"Hey Vincent, you want me to put her in her crib?" I hear Clem ask.
"Hmm, no it's fine, let her sleep." I muttered and closed my eyes a bit.
"Are you sure bout that?" She asked and I nod a bit. I hear her giggle a bit and I open one eyes and see Clem filming on her phone and I chuckled a bit at this.
"What?" She asked and I smile and close my eyes again.
"Filming?" I asked.
"Oh, come on this is cute, and it would make for great memories." She says and I chuckled and nodded.
"Yea it would." I say and I take a breath and opened my eyes and looked to Hazel as she slept more. I look at Clementine as she comes over and gives me a kiss on my head and I look at her.
"Adorable." She says and I chuckled and looked back to Hazel.
"We should take her to the park at some point this week… before she has to go back to Minerva I mean." I mutter and look to Clementine who looks at Hazel then back to me.
"That would be sweet." She says and I nod at this and look back to Hazel. She was still sleeping and I smiled and looked up to clementine as she looked at me.
"What?" I asked and she laughed.
"It's just you're cute." She says and I chuckled.
"Are you hungry at all?" She asked.
"A little, I can-."
"No you stay right there, don't want Hazel waking up." She tells me and I sighed a bit.
"You want me to hold her?" She asked.
"I have her but I want to help… maybe I can put her in her crib." I say and slightly get up and she grabs hazel gently from me as I get up completely and I look at Clem as she looks down at Hazel. We both took her to her room and I looked around a bit as Clem places the baby in the crib.
"You did a great job on the room." Clem says and I look at her and I smile.
"Hey you helped, I'm glad you did." I mutter and looked to the crib a bit the back to Clem.
"Come on, I'll get a bottle ready for her too." She says and we head on down the stairs and I grabbed the bottle from the bag.
"You remember how to make it?" She asked and I nod as I grabbed the formula.
"Yep… you know… I know you have school early if you want you can stay with your parents… the baby might keep you up and I don-." Clementine stops me by kissing me and I kissed her back and looked down at her.
"I know she could keep me up but I said I wanted to help you." She tells me and I nod a bit then looked away from her. I still feel bad that Clementine might lose sleep over this, especially when she has school.
"Hey, Hey look at me." Clementine says as she makes me face her and she puts her hand to my cheek gently.
"I love you." I say to her and she looks at me.
"I love you too." She says and I smiled just a bit. we finished making dinner and just in time too because I heard Hazel on the baby monitor, so I get up and head to her room. As I walked into the room and over to the crib I hear her feet hitting the mattress in her crib and I smiled as I looked in to see her just looking around anywhere until she looks to me and I see a slight smile and I chuckled as I picked her up.
"Hey, you hungry?" I asked knowing I wasn't going to get a response. I head down the stairs and Clementine handed me the bottle and I look at Hazel and gave her the bottle. I was glad she was able to eat without struggle right now, I would have been freaking out not knowing what to do. I take a seat on the couch as I fed her and Clem comes over with both our plates and Clem looks at me.
"When she is done, I'll burp her and you eat?" She asked and I nod. I looked to Hazel as she looked around as she ate and I chuckled a bit then looked to Clem. I kept quiet for a bit and sighed.
"Penny for your thoughts?" She asked and I chuckled.
"Oh no, I'll sell 'em for a dollar." I sang and I chuckled and looked to Clementine. I sighed and looked to Hazel and then back to Clem.
"Are you uh… are you still mad?" I asked her.
"Yes, I am but I'm not going to show it." She says and I sighed a bit and nod.
"But… you aren't mad at Hazel, are you?" I asked.
"God no, she didn't ask for any of this I can't be mad at her for something she didn't do." She says and I nod.
"I've been reading a lot… how girlfriends blame the baby sometimes-."
"I'm not like that Vincent, and you know this." She says and I nod.
"I know but… my mind just wanders… and you know I can overthink these things that make me worried." I look at her.
"Vincent I am not mad at Hazel, I'm not like those crazy girls that blame an infant for something that they had o part in, I'm a little mad at you yes, I have every reason to be mad." She says and I nod.
"I know, I know." I say and see that Hazel is finished feeding and Clementine grabs hazel and pats her back. I think a bit and sighed.
"Clem, I love you I am sorry for what I did." I tell her.
"You were drunk… I mean my mother is right you were basically-."
"Nope… nope, no don't finish that." I say and look to Clem and she looks at me.
"Are you ok?" She asked and I nod.
"Yea I am I just don't want to talk about that." I tell her and she looked to me and nods a bit. She helped Hazel burp and I finished my food and grabbed Hazel as Clem grabbed the dishes and I go put Hazel to bed. Clem and I then went into our room and I looked to the bed a bit and sighed as I changed into my boxers and Clem comes over and kisses my cheek and I smiled at her.
"Alright let's get as much sleep as we can." I say and Clementine nods as she goes and lays in the bed. I follow her and I lay in the bed with her, I place my arm on her waist and she looks at me and I smiled a bit at her. I finally fell asleep after Clementine had gone to sleep.
