Two years later,
A now six-year-old Jasmine stood in front of a Monoeye, holding her special-made blades. They were long and sharp with the tips curve inwards. She was also was now wearing a black robe with Medusa's head on her back, showing her loyalty to Medusa. Jasmine has changed in the past two years. While still a kind girl at heart, she had toughed herself up and now seem to be less scared of her new home. It was going to take her some time to overcome the unwelcome feeling the Underworld was giving off, but now was the time to prove that she was more than she was.
Medusa stood over a balcony, watching Jasmine hold her blades in a cross shape as the Monoeye changes at her. Jasmine dodges before hitting it from behind, destroying it. She quickly looks to her side, seeing another Monoeye heading for her. Jasmine quickly swings the blade, cutting it in half. She heard another coming from behind her and backflips over it, bringing her blades down on it. She stood and spin the blades together. She places the handles together and turns around. She pulls back on the string that appears and lets loose a dark arrow, that hit one Monoeye before it burst apart in dark small explosions that clear out the rest.
"Enough!" Medusa said, stopping the training.
Jasmine undid the blades before hooking them behind her waist, keeping them from cutting her when she not using them.
"You have done well, Jasmine. Your training has come a long way in two years. But even you know this means nothing when fighting the Goddess of Light and her pet. You must continue to grow stronger, you must be as powerful as the gods themselves!" She said.
"Yes, Queen Medusa." Jasmine bows.
Medusa nods before walking inside. Jasmine then turns and saw Thanatos and Pandora walking up to her. Jasmine took off the blades and hands them to Thanatos.
"I don't know why Medusa would give you special-made blades. They not going to make you stronger." Pandora said with a frown.
"Mom said the blades will help me fight the Goddess of Light's Captain. I just have to make sure I'm ready for that day." Jasmine said.
Over the past two years, Jasmine has gotten used to calling Medusa her mother. And it appears that Pandora didn't like her. And Jasmine didn't like her either.
"Now, now. Let's get all get along." Thanatos said, glad he was holding the Medusa's Blades.
Pandora scoffs and turns away.
"A human like you has no place here." She said.
Jasmine sighs and turns as well. She was six years old, and already she was reaching a captain rank with the Underworld Army. But she not yet a Captain. Jasmine walks down the hall before seeing Medusa waiting for her.
"Mom," Jasmine said, bowing.
Medusa walks over to her and hugged her. Jasmine hugs back. Over the past two years, Medusa and Jasmine truly become mother and daughter. But the two decide to act like one when they were alone.
"I'm very proud of you, Jasmine. You handle those Monoeyes well." She said, smiling.
"I had a good teacher." Jasmine smiles.
Medusa then started to lead Jasmine down the hall, heading for the Hot Spring. Jasmine looks around and saw no one was there. She reaches over and grabs Medusa's hand. The new mother and daughter enter the Hot Spring room and took off their robes. Once they settle into the spring, Jasmine notices her scar. It was still there, but her skin had healed. Strange enough, it looks like one of her blood veins. She saw a black hand placed on her arm and looks at Medusa.
"Jasmine, are you sure you don't want me to cover it?" She asked.
"I'm sure, mom. It's to remind me that Palutena isn't the goddess I think she is." She said.
Medusa knew Jasmine's hate towards Palutalena had grown over the past two years. However, it was not as strong as hers. Medusa move closer and sat behind Jasmine. Jasmine notices and leans back. It was a new thing they did, starting last year. They didn't know why they would do this, but Jasmine did feel safe with her like that. Medusa even wrapped her arms around her.
"Did you really mean that?" She said, confusing Medusa.
"Mean what?" She asked back.
"That I still have a long way to go before I reach a real Captain Rank?" Jasmine clears up.
A few weeks ago, Medusa notices Jasmine trying to do some extra training without her. She stated that she was trying to reach a Captain Rank much sooner than normal to make sure the underworld army would listen to her. But Medusa stops her, starting she still had a long way to go before she does.
"I only said that to keep you from hurting yourself. You're smart, dear, but what you were doing was too reckless. Don't force your way to the top." Medusa said.
Medusa couldn't lie, there were times she got a little too worried when Jasmine disappears or tries to do a level she wasn't ready for. She started to wonder if this was how a mother should feel about their child.
"I promise to be careful, mom. You know that." Jasmine said.
"I know," Medusa said, holding her close.
Later,
Jasmine stood next to Medusa as she sat on her throne, looking over Pandora as she made her report.
"The Labyrinth is almost ready. Once it's done, I'll move the mirror there to keep it out of sight." She said.
"Good. And keep yourself hidden as well. I can't let Palutena find out about my plans already." Medusa said.
"Yes, Medusa." Pandora bows before sending a glare at Jasmine.
Jasmine gave one back and Medusa notices.
"Pandora, Jasmine is off-limits." She said, making her growl.
"Of course." She said, leaving.
"Gezz, Thanatos warm up to me quicker than she did." Jasmine groans.
"Pay it no mind, dear. Pandora has always been like this since she opened the box." Medusa said.
Jasmine sighs and sat down. She knew she had to get used to standing by her mother's side, but listening to reports from the Underworlders was starting to get boring. Medusa notices her looks and knew how to cheer her up.
"Ready to travel to earth again?" She asked, making her jump up.
As a mother-daughter time, Medusa has taken Jasmine back to earth a few times. Since she was still human, and the only human Medusa was going to spare, she wanted Jasmine to see and love the earth for what it was.
"Let's go!" Jasmine said, excited.
Medusa smiles, she had grown used to seeing her brighten up whenever she felt down or bored. They couldn't stay on earth for too long. Because the longer they were there, the sooner Palutena could find her.
"Can we go into town this time? I promise to stay away from any temples." She asked.
"Very well, just let me get a few things ready," Medusa said.
She stood up and use her powers to turn her snake hair into normal black hair. She then grabs a cloth and ties it around her head, keeping her face covered. She then changes her robes to look more like normal woman robes before taking Jasmine's hand.
"We have ten minutes before Palutena picks up my magic. Remember, she doesn't know I've returned." Medusa reminds Jasmine.
Jasmine nodded. She was more excited that she was going to spend time with her mother than worried about the Goddess of Light finding out about her mother. Medusa took her hand and they soon teleported to Realm of the Humans.
A few minutes later,
Medusa walks around the town, trying her best not to let her hate get the better of her. She still didn't why Palutena likes the humans so much. They were weak, fail, and useless. Closest beings to the gods? Don't make her laugh! However, she did remember that she had a human right next to her. A human she was starting to see as her own daughter. Jasmine looks around the stands, amazed by the new things they had.
Medusa couldn't help but smile at her actions. She didn't know why, but Jasmine seems to bring something out of her. Something she hasn't shown since she was little.
"Pardon me, Miss? But is that your daughter?"
Medusa tries not to growl as a human starts talking to her.
"Yes, I promise to bring her to town today." She said, keeping herself calm.
"That's very nice of you. But I should warn you, there are rumors of little girls disappearing off the streets, never to be seen again. I would keep a close eye on her." The Human told her.
Medusa was a bit surprised at that. Someone was going around and talking little girls? She knew it wasn't her minions, so it had to be a human.
"Thank you, I will make sure she stays safe." She said before walking up to Jasmine.
"Hey, mom! Look at this!" Jasmine said, taking a necklace and putting it on.
Medusa then notices it had a charm in a shape of a snake. She has grown used to snakes, thanks to her hair, and couldn't help but think it fits Jasmine.
"It looks really good on you." She said, making Jasmine blush a little.
"Ah, mom! You're embarrassing me." Jasmine said, trying to look upset.
Medusa giggles and pays for the necklace.
"As a gift." She said, making Jasmine smile.
They kept walking, with the warning from the human still in Medusa's mind. Someone was taking little girls, and Jasmine could be a target. Medusa would kill anyone trying to take her new daughter away.
"Out of the way!"
Jasmine was bumped into, almost knocking her to the ground. She turns and saw another girl her age, only dress in jewelry and nicer clothes.
"I said, watch where you're going!" The girl said.
"Excuse me? You bump into me!" Jasmine said, angrily.
"I did no since thing!" The girl said.
Medusa then pulls Jasmine back and glares at the girl.
"Princess Paulina." She said, knowing this girl well.
"Well, someone knows me!" She said, smiling.
"Yes, I know that you're a huge brat that doesn't care about your kingdom. It's no wonder the Goddess of Light doesn't fulfill your wishes." She said.
"Excuse me?! The Goddess of Light does fulfill my wishes! She was the one that made me beautiful!" Paulina said, flipping her hair.
Medusa rolls her eyes. From what she could tell, her beauty was passed down from her mother, not Palutena giving them to her. Still, they were wasting too much time. She was sure that Palutena was about to sense her and that could ruin her plans.
"No matter, I'll let it slide as long as you bow to me," Paulina said.
Medusa wanted to turn her into stone but knew it would cause Palutena to find her faster.
"I bow to no one." She said, facing away from her.
"WHAT?! I'll have your head for this!" Paulina shouted before marching away.
Medusa shook her head. The ugly side of humans always reins their ugly heads when they act all high and mighty. Not even Palutena could stand those kinds of humans. She turns and saw Jasmine grabbing her hand, trying to make sure she was calm. Medusa smiles, and the two started to leave the town. They didn't get far before someone push Medusa down and grabs Jasmine.
"MOM!" Jasmine cried out.
Medusa didn't care if her cloth fell off, that human was going to pay for pushing her down and taking her daughter. She stood up and rush off them. Jasmine tries to break free from the person holding her, but he told her to be still as he kept running. He looks back and saw the woman was chasing after him. He was surprised, most mothers would have called the guards, and he would give them a slip. Medusa was not going to let this human take Jasmine away and ruin her hard work.
The Man tries to lose her in the alley as he does with guards, but Medusa knew the tricks. She did watch how thieves would use the alleys during her time in Angel Land. Being the Goddess of Darkness has its perks. She saw the human trying to lose her by running up the wall, but Medusa wasn't worried. She had already placed a spell on the necklace when she brought it.
'I have to remember to thank that human for the warning.' She thought before jumping up.
She easily makes it to the rooftops and saw the human look at her in shock.
"What in the underworld name are you?!" He asked, starting to run again.
Jasmine kept trying to break free as Medusa chased after him, both of them jumping across the rooftops. Jasmine then remembers about her necklace and took it off. She then wraps it around the man's neck and started to choke him. The Man was caught by surprise and had to stop to take it off. That just gave Medusa more time to reach them and slams into the human, making him drop Jasmine.
"How dare you!" She said, her eyes glowing.
The Man was shocked to see her eyes and could feel her nails digging into her neck as she squeezed it.
"Do you think I'm going to let you go after you try to kidnap my daughter?! Your soul will be forever trapped in the underworld for your crimes!" She shouted, her hair slowly turning into her snakes.
The Man was shocked to see her hair change.
"Who are you?!" He asked in fear.
"I'm the Goddess of Darkness, Medusa!" She said, showing her true face.
The Man couldn't scream as he was turned to stone. Medusa quickly change her face back to her disguise as Jasmine stood up. She looks up and saw the man was now stone as Medusa turns to check on her.
"Are you okay?" She asked, looking over her.
"I'm fine." She said, looking at the statue.
"I had to punish him. Taking you was something I can not allow. I'm just glad you're safe." She said." She said.
Jasmine heard how her mother hated humans during hearing Pandora mention it so many times. But if her mother really did hate humans, then why did she go out of her way to save her? But she could tell Medusa was really worried about her. Maybe her hate wasn't as strong as she thought.
"Thanks, mom." She said, hugging her.
"No one is going to take you from me." She said, hugging her back.
"Oh gag!"
Shut up, Hades.
"Really? When are we going to get to the good stuff?"
I'm not done yet.
"What else do you need?"
Jazz is still too young to be a captain. And I want to explore more on this mother-daughter relationship before we get to the main story.
"In other words, you're dragging this out."
No, I don't want to end this too soon. So this is my first time skip. As you can see, Medusa and Jasmine grew closer over two years but chose to keep it a secret from the rest of the underworld. I was going to have Medusa have a run-in with Jazz's family, but I'll save that for another chapter.
"And I'm off to see the reviews."
Ah! That reminds me! AnimeGoji91, I delete your review because you were asking questions that were already answered. The one question I do understand, however, is why Jasmine was upset that Palutena didn't come to save her. I'm not going to answer until I get to the main story. And you didn't read slowly. If you asking if Jasmine's family is alive or dead, then you didn't read it carefully. Medusa lied to her. She told her they were dead, but they're still alive. She orders her troops to leave them alone.
