Jasmine sat on the ground, holding her hand over her right eye as Medusa growls dangerously at a few of her minions. Jasmine was in the middle of her training again when she was attacked by a few of the Underworld Monsters. Medusa slams her staff on the ground, causing the ground to crack.
"HOW DARE YOU!" She screams, making the monsters flinch back.
"I TOLD YOU, JASMINE IS OFF LIMITS! HARM MY DAUGHTER AGAIN AND NEXT TIME I WILL FEEL YOUR WORTHLESS BODIES TO CERBERUS ITSELF!"
Medusa knew that some monsters attack Jasmine because she was a human. Other times, Pandora tries to stick them on her. She could tell this group was working on their own. They flee from her and Medusa turns around, kneeling to her daughter.
"Jasmine, let me look," Medusa said.
Jasmine removes her hand and Medusa growls under her breath. She rips off some of her robe and covers the eye.
"Mom?" Jasmine asked, seeing her sigh.
"Come. It won't last long." Medusa said, leading her to the spring.
Medusa couldn't believe it. When she first heard Jasmine scream in pain, her first thought was to find her, and make sure she was safe. When she saw the damage to her eye, Medusa was more than ready to start attacking all the monsters of the underworld in her fury.
"Mom."
Medusa turns to Jasmine and sighs. They enter the spring and Medusa got another look at her eye. The spring was healing it, but the damage was really bad.
"I'm afraid your right eye is too badly damaged. Can you see out of it?" She asked.
"No. It's so weird." Jasmine said.
Medusa looks away. She had to do something. She couldn't let Jasmine look like she come from the underworld. There was only one thing she could do and she didn't like it.
"Jasmine, I'm going to have to remove your eye." She said, shocking the girl.
"Are you sure?" Jasmine asked, a bit scared.
"Yes, but I will find something to replace it. Please, trust me." Medusa said.
Jasmine places her hand over her right eye, thinking about it.
"Will it hurt?" She asked.
"It will, unless you want me to put you in a deep sleep," Medusa told her.
Jasmine thought about it some more. Having her eye removed did sound very painful. But she did come to trust Medusa.
"Are you going to replace it?" Jasmine asked.
"Re-place it?" Medusa asked, shocked.
She started to think about it and remembers all the times she saw the happiness in Jasmine. Even the way her eyes glow when she was around her.
'Hmm, I was saving this for her birthday, but she going to need this now.' Medusa thought.
"I will replace it. But it going to take a few months for the new eye to connect with your brain. But don't worry, I'll be there when you wake up." Medusa said.
Jasmine nods and hugs her. Medusa sighs and hugs her back, already causing her sleep spell on her.
"I love you, Jasmine."
Later,
Medusa sighs. She held her daughter's new eye, ready to put it in. After so many years, she did something she only threaten to do to others but doing it to someone she calls a daughter was not as fun as it looks. The new eye was meant to be a necklace, made out of the snake charm from it. But now, it has to be her new eye. She looks at her bloody hand that she use to remove Jasmine's old eye and growls to herself.
'No more. If the underworld refuses to listen to my commands, then it's time for them to understand what happens if you cross me!' She thought, carefully placing the new eye into Jasmine's eye socket.
It will be three months before the new eye connects with the rest of her body. She covers Jasmine up and kisses her forehead. She then turns and left the room, looking back at her daughter one more time before shutting the door. Jasmine slept peacefully, not even hearing the sounds of roaring and screaming from the other side of the door.
Three months later,
Medusa sat on her throne, looking at the empty spot next to her. Jasmine was still sleeping and it appears her new eye was almost in place. She sighs and leans back in her chair.
"The Goddess of Darkness, worrying about a human child. A child I come to see as my own daughter. Have I really gone soft? Or is this some kind of prank that Palutena sent on me?" She said to herself.
"Come on, Medusa, your hair looks real shining when it wet!"
"Palutena, leave me out your pranks! I thought the gods already have a trickster?"
"I'm just having a bit of fun! Come on, cheer up! You look better when you smile!"
Medusa shook her head. Why was she thinking about her childhood now? Did Jasmine bring back those thoughts? She needed some time away. She already checked on Jasmine and would be a few more hours before she wakes up. Maybe a trip to earth will clear her mind.
On Earth,
Medusa took up her human disguise and walks into a town. She watches as the humans went on with their lives, not even knowing their destruction was coming. She turns to see a mother and daughter holding hands, wearing a smile on their faces. She then felt someone bump into her.
"Sorry, Miss!"
Medusa looks down and saw a young girl. She sighs and gave a small pat on her head.
"Return to your parents. They'll worry about you." Medusa said, kindly.
"Okay! Bye, miss!" The girl said, running back to her parents.
"That was nice of you."
Medusa turns and saw another woman walking up to her. She was wearing a white robe and had long green hair. Medusa sighs and looks away.
"I have a daughter of my own. See that girl reminds me so much of her." She said.
"Really? Is she alright?" The woman asked.
"She was attacked three months ago. She almost lost an eye." Medusa said.
"Oh my!" The woman gasps.
"I had doctor place in a deep sleep so she could heal from it. I check up on her, but seeing her there brings so much pain to my heart." Medusa said.
"I'm sorry to hear that." The woman said, bowing a bit.
Medusa said nothing else. She kept watching a few mothers and daughters before the woman touch her shoulder.
"Do you want to go somewhere else?" She asked.
Medusa sighs and nods. The two women left the marketplace, and Medusa started to talk to the woman.
"Do you have a child?" She asked.
"No, but he feels close to me." The woman said.
"HE?" Medusa asked.
"Oh, he's someone that really loyal to me. He does everything he can to please me and he does praise me so much. It's both flattering and embarrassing at times." She said.
"So, you came down here to have some time to yourself, Palutena?" Medusa smirks.
"Oh, you caught me. But please keep this between us? Pit doesn't even know I'm here." Palutena said.
'Heh, you haven't changed one bit, Pally!
"Of course. It will be our little secret." Medusa said, smiling.
The two hidden goddesses spend the new few hours talking and looking around the town. Palutena never had this much find talking to a human before. The strange thing was it felt like she knew this human. As if they were friends for a long time. Medusa looks up at the sky and saw the Sun was much lower than before. That means Jasmine was about to awake soon.
"I'm sorry to cut this meeting short, but my daughter should awaken soon. I would like to be there when she wakes up." Medusa said.
"Of course! Should I walk you home?" Palutena asked.
"Non, no. I'll be fine. Your light shields me from the monsters around here." Medusa lied.
"If you're sure. I hope your daughter recovers from her tragedy. May I give her my blessing?" Palutena asked.
"You already did." Medusa smiles before partly bowing to her opposite.
"I must be off now. May the light shine your path." Medusa said.
"As towards yours," Palutena said.
Medusa turns and walks away. Palutena sighs as she felt something different about that human. Something that felt familiar about her. However, she had to worry about it later. She was sure that Pit and the others are looking for her. In a flash of light, she returns to Skyland, not seeing Medusa watching her.
The Underworld,
Medusa walks up to the bed and heard Jasmine moan a bit. The spell was about to wear off. Medusa knees to the bed and places her hand on Jasmine's. The girl opens her eyes and, at first, couldn't see anything. However, her version stated to clear up and looks over to her side. Medusa moves some of her hair out of the way, looking at her new eye. It was lavender like hers, and it had to power to turn anyone into stone. Of course, that meant she was going to have to teach her to use it.
"Good morning, Jasmine." Medusa smiles.
"Mom? My eye..." Jasmine said, noticing she could see out of it.
"It took a lot of magic to make sure that eye works. It may have settled in, but you might have to get used to it. I even give it some of my power." Medusa said.
"Your power?" Jasmine asked.
"Yes, the power to turn my enemies into stone. It would be as strong as mine, but I will teach you how to use it." Medusa said.
"Mom, why do you sound so cheerful?" Jasmine asked.
Medusa blinks before smiling.
"I'm just happy to see you're awake." She said.
And I'm out of ideas for this chapter. This felt more like a random chapter than anything. But I did want to get something done for this chapter. New Year is coming and I hoping to get more stories done as part of my new year goal.
"Nice to hear that, Phantom Fan 21!"
Oh! Lady Palutena! Welcome.
"Thanks for inviting me. I can't believe Hades would try to do something to this story. It's so heartwarming and sweet."
Thank you! I do hope that I didn't over your character. I never played any of the two Kid Icarus games.
"Oh, I'm sure you're not the other one. Still, I'm surprised you had Medusa take in a human girl."
Well, I wanted to try something different. I mean, I did read that you two did rule Angel Land together. I'm fully aware it's called Skyworld now these days.
"Well, I'm glad about the name either way. So, are you okay? I heard the news when I arrive."
Yeah. I'm fine. For those that don't know, I just found out yesterday I have the Covid. Meaning, I have to stay away from people for ten days. I know you're Goddess, Palutena, but I don't want to risk you being sick as well.
"It's nice of you to say, but we gods can't get sick."
Maybe so, but for safety reasons, ok?
"Sure. I hope my light will help you get better as well."
Thank you. Well, I see you all after New Year! And yes, I am taking care of myself. I still have my laptop to write stories so I'm not too bored.
