Chapter 7

They were sitting at the park with the six of them enjoying the last few sunny days. It was starting to get colder and the days were getting shorter. When the weather lady said it was gonna be one of the last sunny days before winter hits, they decided that they couldn't waste a day like this. A blanket with some appetizers was spread out and they made themselves comfortable. There was silence as they all enjoyed with closed eyes those precious rays of sunshine.

"Hey, guys", Chandler started to break the silence, "I invited Charlotte to come too, is that alright by you?"

Monica moved her head a little from his chest that she was using as a personal pillow to smile at him. "Of course not! It's great that you found someone this great." The others hummed along as a way to let him know they didn't mind that she'd join.

Chandler smiled at her with gratitude. "Thanks for letting her feel welcome. I really appreciate that you guys." Charlotte and Chandler had been going out for a few weeks now and they really hit it off.

Monica sat up straight to take an olive from one of the small bowls she brought. It was only when she started to feel cold, she realized someone was standing in her sunlight that was supposed to keep her warm. When she looked up, she saw it was Charlotte. She smiled at her. "Hi! Feel free to sit wherever you want. If you are hungry, we got some appetizers."

"Thanks Monica! Hey you guys!" She walked to Chandler who started to sit up a little. She bend down and placed a gentle kiss on his lips. "Hey you."

"Hi. Glad you could make it." Chandler smiled at her. Charlotte started to sit down next to Chandler where Monica had been sitting a few moments ago. Chandler looked apologetically at Monica and she shook her head slightly to let him know it was alright. She went to sit next to Rachel who was talking to Phoebe about a guy in the football team who tried to go out with her.

"I mean, if you start by saying 'Hi hottie' I'm not gonna say 'Hey, let's go out!' like, who does he think he is?" Rachel went on. Phoebe smirked in agreement and Monica shook her head hearing this story for the third time already. When Monica looked to Chandler, she noticed that Charlotte had put her head on his chest like she had done a few minutes ago. She turned her head to Joey and Ross when she heard her brother yell something about him being right and Joey being wrong. Joey made a face and turned away from Ross which caused Ross to sigh.

After a few hours it started to get colder and the sun was starting to set. They decided to gather their stuff and head back to their dorm rooms. Chandler went to the boy's dorm room with Charlotte because they wanted some time alone. Joey and Ross proposed to go to the bar across the street with the girls. Phoebe and Rachel quickly agreed, but Monica was hesitant, because she was behind on the work for school that she had written on her planning. To avoid a freaked out Monica next week if she didn't catch up with her work, they ended up going to the bar with four of them and Monica staying in the girl's dorm room.

Around 11pm Monica decided she had enough of working for school and started to reorganize her desk. She brushed her hair and sprayed some deodorant before grabbing her purse. Phoebe and Rachel still weren't back, so she assumed they would still be in the bar. When she wanted to grab the doorknob to head out and go to the bar, she heard a faint knock on her door. She opened her door and saw Chandler standing in front of her with his head down. "Chandler? Are you alright?"

Chandler looked up a little and Monica wasn't prepared for the broken face that she saw. She had never seen Chandler look as defeated as he did at that moment. "Can I come in?", he asked with a tiny voice. "Yes, of course, come in. Chandler, what happened?"

Chandler came inside and went to sit on her bed. His shoulders were slumped and his head was in his hands. "Chandler?", Monica tried again when he didn't answer her. He kept silent. Monica cautiously approached him and went to sit next to him. "Talk to me, please", she said almost whispering. She was getting really worried. "It's over" It was barely audible, but Monica managed to catch the tiny sentence. "What is?"

"Charlotte and I"

"What? Why? You were so happy together a few hours ago."

"Well, a few hours ago she hadn't dumped me yet."

"What? I can't follow you. Can you start from the beginning?"

Chandler sighed before telling her what happened. "We were having a lot of fun and I mean we got intimate at moment but we'd never really done, well, it." He cringed a little at his choice of words.

"When we were walking back from the park, we were just talking when she was suddenly dropping these not so subtle hints about being ready to have sex. That's why I asked to have our dorm room for us two alone. It started out great. We were heaving this incredibly passionate kisses and she started to push me to my bed. I'll save you the details of what exactly we were doing, but I was starting to take her shirt of and when she was in her bra, she started taking mine of too. And – and then - " Chandler's voice started to crack a little. Monica rubbed his back to encourage him to go on.

"She – she just freaked out. She thought it was disgusting. Hideous. I - " Monica felt his back shake a little and she heard him sob quietly. She got up and went to crouch down in front of him. She took his hands in his. "Why did she freak out?", she asked quietly.

"Because I have a third nipple", he mumbled. Monica thought she heard him wrong. "You have a third nipple?" She asked, confusion evident in her voice.

"Yeah, I mean, it isn't a big deal, but apparently to her it was."

"Could I see it? I mean I totally get it if you don't want to show it but - " Monica started to ramble. "Yeah, I guess" Chandler cut her off. "But promise you won't walk out on me too." He looked at her with fear filled eyes. "I won't. I promise." She said with a soft, sincere voice.

He lifted his hands out of hers and sat a little straighter. Monica went to sit next to him again. He started to lift his shirt on the side that she was sitting. She saw a tiny lump on his right side of his chest. A little more to the right than his other nipple. She slowly lifted a hand and softly touched it. It was indeed like he had an extra nipple, but she didn't think it was that bad. In fact, she found it quite cool.

Chandler saw her looking intently at his extra nipple. After a few more moments he let his shirt down again and Monica looked up right in his eyes. "I really don't get how someone can be so superficial. I mean, you are this amazing guy who is incredibly smart and really handsome and she leaves him for something like this? She really doesn't know what she has lost. Is she stupid or something?" Monica had started to get up half way her rant and started pacing around. Chandler got up to and walked up to her. "Thank you Mon"

Monica opened her arms and Chandler hugged her tightly. Monica softly moved her hands acrros his back. She came just above his shoulders, but in this moment he felt very small in Monica's protecting arms. Monica pulled away after a few moments. "You know what you need? A drink. You want to go to the bar?"

"A drink would indeed be nice right now."

Phoebe, Rachel, Ross and Joey were sitting at their favorite spot: the couch right behind the pool table. They were laughing hysterically when Chandler and Monica came inside.

"Hey!" Monica announced their presence. "Oh hey take a seat! Where is Charlotte?", Ross asked.

Monica looked to Chandler who sighed. "We broke up. Now, I really don't want to talk about it, so if you'll excuse me, I'll go get myself a drink and start to get drunk."

Everyone looked expectantly at Monica once Chandler was out of hearing distance. "I'm sorry, but it's really not my place to tell. He'll tell you eventually, but for now, please don't bring it up."

They nodded showing they understood her. Chandler came back with a tray full of drinks. "I bought one for everyone, cause I don't want to be the only drunk one."
