OBI-WAN
"It's unprecedented." Master Ki-Adi-Mundi said from his seat in the Jedi Council.
"She was raised surrounded by the force." Master Kit Fisto pointed out as Obi-Wan watched the council debating back and forth.
"But to have a Midichlorian count of over seventy thousand?" Windu asked.
"Pardon me, masters. But is there a problem with having a count that high?" Obi-Wan asked sincerely, trying not to sound accusatory.
"In unknown territory, we are. Assume anything, we cannot." Yoda replied, staring at a knot in the wood of his walking stick.
"Is there a chance the girl didn't want to take the test because she knows something we don't?" Windu wondered.
"I doubt it. She didn't know what Midichlorians were." Obi-Wan answered quickly. He was concerned that the Council was looking to deeply into this. What did it matter?
"So she said." Windu said darkly.
"Well, whether she knows it or not, as far as we know she is the most powerful being in the galaxy." Said Ki-Adi-Mundi and the Council was silent as they mulled over the statement.
"Master, I don't like to ask, but do you think the Sith know of her force sensitivity?" Obi-Wan said to Qui-Gonn as they walked out of the Council.
"We cannot be sure. Even if we ask her, she could be lying." Qui-Gonn replied.
"I would be wary master. We're going down a path we should be cautious of. Our mission is to protect the Princess, not push her away or give her reason not to trust us." Obi-Wan began, knowing how challenging the last few days had been for her. For her to know that the Jedi are essentially plotting against her would drive her away completely. "Her trust for us is already wearing thin. If we're not careful, she may decline our help entirely."
"In that case we must show her that our number one priority is her, and that we do care about her home world, not just Jedi business." Qui-Gonn said to Obi-Wan's surprise. His Master's usual way of 'these are my terms and that's the end of it' seemed to be changing. Either that, or he just wants back in the Princess' good books. Whatever the reason, Obi-Wan agreed.
So, when he raised his hand to knock on the dark red door to her chambers, he was surprised to hear her call out for him to enter.
"How did you know I was there?" He asked.
"It was the Midichlorians. They were speaking to me." She replied with a slight teasing in her voice as she walked into the main room.
She was wearing khaki pants with bronze piping around the knees and belt, which were tucked into a pair of black boots. A maroon shirt was held in place by a corset a shade lighter and a belt was pulled around her waist. Around her neck was a short, bronze band and her hair was pulled back into a simple ponytail.
"Are you heading out?" Obi-Wan asked as she picked up a hologram projector from the table.
"Yes." She replied, her lighthearted tone had disappeared and had been replaced by something rather solemn.
"What is it?" Obi-Wan asked. Thalia looked between him and the hologram before handing the device to him.
He turned it on and a news report flashed into the air above the disk. It read:
Man Arrested After Suspicious Death From Kyber Weapon
"Someone has a store of crystals and is selling them on the black market." She explained, as Obi-Wan read over the article.
"But the caves have been closed for over a year. How did they get them?" He asked.
"Probably intercepted a transport leaving Troska when we were still offering them." She guessed with a heavy sigh. "I was about to head out and see what I could find."
"I know someone who might be able to help. He works in a diner in the Lower Levels. He knows everything that goes on around there." Obi-Wan said and Thalia's eyes lit up.
"You'd really help?" She asked in disbelief.
"Of course." He nodded and then grinned as her eyes lit up.
"Thank you. It means a lot." She said earnestly.
