Well this chapter ended up being longer then I thought it was, but I'm glad because I had so much fun working on this! This chapter has been one of the ones I've been looking forward to the most due to what it introduces and an idea me and my amazing co-writer Petrus have decided on. So I hope you enjoy because I know we did!
It was a sunny day in Royal Woods Michigan. The birds were singing in their nest, rays of sunshine shone down on the town creating a pleasant warmth that wasn't to hot to make you easily start sweating. It was practically a perfect day to go outside and do stuff.
However, Lincoln wasn't really doing that.
He was sitting on bed, in his underwear reading some Ace Savvy comics. "Yeah, I know what you're thinking." Lincoln said as he turned his head to meet the audience. "Lincoln, why are you sitting around inside reading comics on such a perfect day? Well, I suppose I just wanted a day to just stay in and relax. After days of fighting monsters, Star's magical mischief, and just the usual stuff I deal with living in this house, I guess I just wanted a day to myself ya know? Just relaxing and recharging my batteries."
It…didn't last long.
"Lincoln!" Suddenly, busting open his door, was Star who popped her head in causing Lincoln to yell out in surprise at the Butterfly princess's sudden intrusion and tossing his comic into the air. "I need your help with-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!" However, Star soon screamed as her face turned a beet red as she saw Lincoln was in nothing but his underpants.
"Star! What the heck!?" Lincoln yelled with his own incredibly red face as he covered himself with his blanket. "Why didn't you knock?!"
"I didn't know you were in your undies!" Star yelled back as she used her wand to cover her eyes. "Why were you in your underwear anyway?!"
"That's my business! Now get out!" Lincoln yelled as he reached for his cloths on the floor. "Just wait for me to put on some cloths just close the door so the others don't see!"
"Ok! Ok! Sorry!" Star said as she exited the room and closed the door behind her. Her face was still red due to the experience and she simply hummed awkwardly to herself as she tried to erase the memory of seeing the white haired Loud in his underpants. "Ugh, reminds me of the time I walked in on my dad while he was changing into his armor."
"Ok Star, I'm dressed." She heard Lincoln's voice coming from inside, telling the princess that he was fully dressed. Star breathed a sigh of relief and once again opened the door to see Lincoln, now fully clothed, frowning at her. "Next time knock."
"Ok, I will, sorry." Star apologized again with an eye roll this time before giving Lincoln a strange look. "So, uh, why exactly were you in your underpants?"
Lincoln simply sighed a bit in irritation, he supposed Star was going to find out sooner or later. "Because I don't like reading comics while wearing cloths ok." Lincoln revealed making Star's eyes widened a bit. "Whenever I try reading in cloths, it always irritates me so I read in my underpants."
"…Pfft…" Star quickly covered her mouth with both her hands to keep herself from bursting out laughing. "You can only read in your undies."
"Yeah, yeah, so funny." Lincoln said with an eye roll but not truly offended by Star's reaction. It was honestly a step up from his sisters saying it was gross. But Lincoln decided to still mess with Star a little and mention a little something about her room. "But I bet if we dug around in that closest of secrets you have, we'll find one of your guilty pleasures."
At hearing this, Star immediately stopped laughing and glared at Lincoln while pointing her wand to Lincolns neck. "You'd best step away from my closest boy." Star said to Lincoln in a threatening voice and narrowed eyes, trying to act serious despite the fact that Lincoln just wanted to laugh at Star's attempts at seriousness.
"Alright, alright, relax there Star. I haven't gone near your closest." Lincoln reassured the girl. This was enough to get Star to stop aiming her wand at him. He knew Star wouldn't shoot him, probably, but he would mentally admit that the little wand being pointed at him was kinda intimidating due to what it could do.
"Alright…but I'm onto you." Star warned Lincoln who simply smirked in response, not taking the threat to seriously. After saying that, Star looked around Lincoln's room…and notice what little there was to looking at. "This is your room?" Star's never actually been in Lincoln's room before. Whenever they were home they would either hang out in Star's room or the living room.
"Yep!" Lincoln confirmed as he sat down on his bed and stretched his arms out to gesture to the entire room. "Welcome to casa de Lincoln."
"Seems like a small casa doesn't it?" Star asked as she sat down next to Lincoln, getting into crisscross position on the bed. "There's hardly any room to stretch my legs out."
"Well, it was a converted linen closest." Lincoln explained to Star, making the blonds eyes widened a bit at the news of what Lincoln's room used to be. "It may be small, but hey, its my own space where I can do my guy things without any of my sisters interfering. Plus, its cozy."
"But wouldn't you still want to have a bigger room?" Star asked Lincoln as she tilted her head. "I mean it doesn't seem very fair."
"Yeah, I guess I would like to have a bigger room. But that won't be happening till Leni moves out and until then I'm content." Lincoln explained to Star with a truthful tone as he looked up as a memory came to his head. "Besides, after a certain incident back when I was 11, I don't wanna interfere with room stuff anymore. Trust me, it's for the best."
"If you say so." Star said, still having an unsure feeling to this whole thing but still decided to brush it off. "So anyway, back to why I came in here in the first place, I was wondering if you could help me with something!"
"Sure Star, what's up?" Lincoln asked as he gave Star a small smile. As much as he was hoping for a day off today, given his usual track record for peace and quiet both before and after Star came into his life, he figured he might as well appreciate the time off he did get.
"There's a new spell I wanna try out!" Star told Lincoln with an excited and enthusiastic tone and smile. "And I'd just feel more comfortable if you were around."
"…Is something gonna blow up?" Lincoln asked skeptically.
"Most likely." Star answered in an all to casual manner.
"…Yeah ok let's ok." Lincoln's seen more explosions in 14 years then a majority of people have their whole lives due to Lisa and more recently Star, so it wasn't something that really made him want to back down. And hey, it was always cool getting to see new magic stuff.
"Awesome! Let's go!" Star was quick to jumped off the bed and run out of the cramped room and quickly ran over to the stairs. Instead of walking down them normal stair, Star hoped onto the railing of the stairs and slide down and perfectly landed at the bottom.
"Impressive." Lincoln whistled as he watched Star slide down. "I actually used to be able to slide down on my feet when I was 11."
"Oooooo! Can you do it now?" Star asked as she was hoping to see something that cool.
"Hehehe, sorry Star but I'm a bit heavier now then I was back then. Don't wanna risk it." Lincoln explained to Star who simply pouted in response. "I think I'll stick to walking down."
"Laaaaaaame." Star groaned out in disappointment.
"Whatever." Lincoln said with a chuckle. But when Lincoln started to walk down the stairs-
"LOOK OUT!"
"Wha-AH!" Suddenly, before Lincoln could react, Lola came backing up in her princess car and accidently backed into Lincoln and sending him flying off the stairs.
"LINCOLN!" Star yelled out in concern as Lincoln landed right in front of her. Star was quick to look over the boy and see if he was ok, only to wince at what she saw as Lincoln was wiggling around in pain and gritting his teeth trying not to scream.
"Oh my gosh! Lincoln I'm so sorry!" Lola called out to her brother from the top of the stairs. "Lana was working on my princess car and I didn't realize she left it in reverse! Star, is he ok?!"
"Eeeeeeh…that depends…" Star told the 9-year-old in a concerned voice. "Are human arms supposed to bend this way?"
They aren't.
"Ya know, I think this is the first time I ever had a cast." Lincoln said as he was currently sitting down on Star's bed. It was currently later in the day and once Lincoln fell down the stairs, Star quickly informed his parents who were quick to call an ambulance to take him to the hospital.
Thankfully when he got there, they stated it wasn't as bad as it could have been and casted up Lincoln's left arm except for his fingers and told him he only needed to wear the cast for about 5 or 6 weeks. But it still wasn't the greatest feeling in the world.
"I am so sorry Linky!" Lola apologized for the hundredth time today while giving him a pair of misty eyes. While Lola was known for being quite cold and ruthless at times, she has matured a bit since she was 6 and while she still shows those traits now, it wasn't as much or as bad. And even then, she always hated seeing her siblings in down or in pain. Especially if she was the one to cause it…unless they deserved it. But in this scenario, Lincoln definitely didn't deserve.
But Lincoln wasn't mad. Instead he simply gave Lola a reassuring smile and patted her head a bit. "Relax Lola, I told you it was ok." Lincoln gently told his younger sister as she sniffled a bit. Wiping away a tear in her eye, Lincoln told Lola. "Its really no big deal, and I know you didn't do it on purpose."
"Really?" Lola asked as she wiped away some tears before they could fall.
"Really. Besides its only for a few weeks." Lincoln simply shrug, showing it really wasn't a big deal. "So don't worry about it, alright?"
"…Alright." Lola finally calmed down after hearing Lincoln's words. But she did say one last thing. "But, if you need help with anything that requires two arms, just ask."
"Thanks Lola, I appreciate it." Lincoln told his little sister as he gave her a hug. Lola returned it and the two stayed like that for a few seconds before separating. Lola then proceeded to exit the princess's room as Lincoln turned to said princess who was looking at him with a concerned expression, but still had a small smile on her face at hearing Lincoln was alright. "And thanks for letting me crash here while my hand heals Star. You really didn't have to do that."
"Ah well, I wanted to." Star said as she sat down on her bed next to Lincoln. "Besides, I figured your arm would have a better time healing up here then in that cramped space of yours."
"Star, I already told you I don't mind having a small room." Lincoln told the Mewman once again that day. The Loud boy then looked to his casted up arm, which was already signed by all his siblings, parents, and Star with Star adding a bunch of cute little drawings on it, and said. "Still kinda sucks I have to wear this thing though. Can't use my left arm for over a month. Plus, it itches like heck."
"Yeah…" Star slowly let out. Although she's never gotten a broken bone before, she couldn't imagine it was exactly a good feeling. Plus seeing his arm bending the other way earlier kinda made her a bit sick. She just wished there was something she could do! If only she could just…magically repair his arm!
…
…
…
Oh.
"Lincoln! Say good bye to your broken arm because I know exactly what to do!" Star said as she started dancing happily around the room before stopping right when she was in Lincoln's face giving the boy a giant grin. "I'm gonna magically repair your arm!"
"Woah! You actually have a spell for that!?" Lincoln asked with a happy smile. If Star could actually heal his arm, then no one would have anything to worry about! Lola wouldn't have to feel guilty; Lincoln wouldn't have to worry about the downsides of having a broken arm, and Star could brag about healing someone's arm. Everyone wins!
"Well I don't have one right now. But…" Star then reached underneath her bed and Lincoln watched as she pulled out a giant brown book that looked incredibly old. It had an infinity symbol on the cover and had a purple gem on each side as well as one on the lock to the book and the spine of it. "There should be a bone healing spell somewhere in the magic instruction book that came with the wand!"
"Oh cool!" Lincoln said as he watched Star open the book, releasing a large dust cloud that made the princess cough. "There's gotta be a spell for just about everything in that huge thing."
"Yeah but only problem is that it's a huge disorganized mess." Star explained to Lincoln as she started flipping through page after page. Lincoln has sworn he saw a little blue man on one of the pages Star flipped through though, but paid it no mind thinking it was some sort of magic illusion. "So it's probably gonna take awhile before I found-Oh, here it is!"
"Wow, really?" Lincoln asked in a surprised tone. A giant book like that and Star just randomly found it. Didn't even need to use any sort of glossary.
"Ooooo! Its in an ancient language." Star said in a giddy tone as she pulled out her wand and aimed it at Lincoln's broken arm. "Releasio, Demonius, Flarius!" A beam then shot of Star's wand and connected with Lincoln's cast as it started to glow a fiery red.
"I-I think its working!" Lincoln yelled with an excited smile on his face as the spell started breaking his cast away and revealing his arms slowly going back to its original position and no pain emanating from it. "Alright! Good job Star! This is-
BOOM!
"AAAAAAAAAHHHH!" Lincoln and Star both yelled in panic as, despite the spells success at repairing Lincoln's arm, the next thing it did was spontaneously set Lincoln's entire left arm on fire.
"MY ARMS ON FIRE! MY ARMS ON FIRE!" Lincoln yelled out in panic as he waved his arm around to try and put it out. However, in Lincoln's panic, he failed to notice that the fire didn't actually hurt.
"STOP DROP AND ROLL! STOP DROP AND ROLL!" Star yelled to Lincoln as she quickly pulled her family's magic spell book away from Lincoln to make sure that thing didn't get set on fire. If the book was burnt, that would literally be the worst thing to happen to Star.
Lincoln quickly did as Star instructed and got down on the ground and started rolling on the floor to put the fire out. Lincoln kept this up for a solid minute and finally, after causing plenty of scorch marks to Star's floor, the fire enveloping Lincoln's arm was finally put out.
Lincoln lifted up his left arm that was previously on fire and saw it was perfectly fine. No broken bones, not even any burn marks or melted off skin. It was perfectly fine. Star and Lincoln breathed a sigh of relief at seeing this as Lincoln spoke up. "Well aside from a little spontaneous combustion, it looks like the spell worked like a charm! Thanks Sta-
Boom!
"AAAAAAAAAHHH!" Star and Lincoln went back to panicking as Lincoln's arm reignited itself.
"WHY DOES ARM KEEPING SETTING ON FIRE?!" Lincoln yelled as he quickly took off his jacket to avoid setting it on fire.
"I DON'T KNOW!" Star yelled as she frantically looked over the page of the spell book where she got the spell. However, she then noticed Lincoln didn't looking like he was screaming in agony or pain. The way most people would probably react to their entire arm being set on fire. "Are you…are you ok? Are you hurt?"
"N-No…for…some reason." Lincoln said after calming himself down and simply letting the fire on his arm burn. "But I still don't want my arm on fire!"
"Ok, ok, don't worry! There's gotta be a spell to fix this somewhere!" Star then quickly started flipping through page after page, quickly glancing through each one for a fire extinguishing spell. Star then stopped on a page she thought had the perfect spell for the job. "Alright! This should work! Frostius Blizt Flurry!"
"Wait don't you think maybe you should test that out on some-" But it was to late. Star aimed her wand as she said the spell and fired a blue beam surrounded by snowflakes at Lincoln's left arm. However, as Star fired Lincoln tried to hold out his right arm to halt Star, but in doing this his right arm ended up taking the spell and sent Lincoln falling down to the floor.
"Lincoln! Oh my gosh are you ok?!" Star called out to the Loud boy in a concerned tone as she let go of her spell book to run up to Lincoln and check up on him.
"Ugh, I think so." Lincoln groaned as he tried to stand himself up, his fire arm causing smoke to raise up from Star's floor as Lincoln planted it down on it to support himself. "My right arm feels a little weird though."
Just then, to truly emphasize Lincoln's statement to the point of over kill, as Lincoln placed his right arm on the floor similar to his left and suddenly the entirety of Star's floor was frozen in ice, almost resembling an ice-skating rink.
"What the heck!?" Lincoln yelled as he struggled to get onto his feet due to the now slippery floor.
"Woah! Woah! Woah! Woah!" Star let out as she tried to keep her balance on the icy floor, but it was fruitless effort as Star ending up falling flat on her face on the ice. "Ow…"
"Star! Are you ok?!" Lincoln yelled as he managed to stand on all four of his limbs on the ice. Thankfully the burning of his left arm melted the ice away at that spot and gave him some stable support.
"Well…my face is sore and cold…but yeah, I'm doing fine." Star answered with a muffled voice due to still being face down on the icy ground.
Lincoln grunted as he tried to stand up, but when he looked to his right arm, he flinched when he saw that his right arm was now constantly releasing an icy mist. "Star what the heck did you do to my arm?! My other arm I mean!"
Star managed to pry her face off the ice and look to Lincoln's right misty arm and flinched. "I-I don't know!" Star stuttered nervously as she tried to stand up on her icy floor. "I saw an ice spell and I figured, what better to put out a flaming arm."
"Well great Star now I have a flaming arm and a freezing arm." Lincoln said sarcastically to the Mewman princess, causing Star to lower her head in guilt. "Just…go back to your book and please, please find a normal arm spell or something."
"Ok, I won't let you down Lincoln. I promise." Star told the white-haired Loud boy as she carefully stepped on the ice towards her book, desperately trying not to slip.
"Thanks, now I'm gonna go see Lisa about this to." Lincoln said as he used his flaming arm to his advantage and melted the ice underneath him to make a stable place to stand. "This might be a magic thing, but there's gotta be something she can do." Lincoln then went over to the exit to Star's room, but saw that was frozen in ice as well. Letting out a sigh, Lincoln melted the ice off that as well and proceeded to go down into the hall way of his house.
Thankfully none of his family was there at the moment so he wouldn't have to reveal the deal going on with his arms. Breathing a sigh of relief, Lincoln leaned against the wall…but then forgot about the deal going on his arms and before Lincoln knew it, suddenly the entirety of the wall he was leaning on was completely frozen in ice.
"Oh no!" Lincoln quickly removed right hand from the now icy wall and back away from it and ended up bumping into something behind him. Lincoln made the mistake of placing his left arm against this job and turning around he saw it was a little desk drawer that was quickly enveloped in flames due to his left arm and in a matter of seconds turned into nothing but a pile of black ash.
"…I gotta fix this before I freeze or burn this house down." Lincoln quickly said as he made his way over to his youngest sisters' room, but when he looked at the doorknob he debated what to do. He needed to open it but his hands were currently not fit for the job. If he used his left hand, he'd heat up the door knob and burning the hand of the next person to touch it, if he used his right hand he'd just freeze the knob and most likely the door.
So he did the only thing he could.
"Lily! Lisa! Either of you two in there?!" Lincoln yelled as he used his foot to light kick the door to knock on it.
"We're in here big brother! One second!" Lincoln sigh in relief as he heard Lily's voice coming from inside. And according to her, Lisa was also there. Thank God! After only a few seconds waiting, Lily opened the door. Just as Lincoln expect, Lily was surrounded by the laser puppies Star gave her, all of which were happily barking and shooting out the occasional laser beams from their eyes. Lily smiled at Lincoln at first, but then noticed his left flaming hand and his right cold and misty one and asked, "Wooooooah, what happened?"
Lincoln sighed in response as he rose up both his arms to keep them away from Lily so they wouldn't end up hurting her. "Star." He immediately answered with Lily giving an 'Oh' in response. "She tried to fix my broken arm and she did, but now I have this going on. I was hoping maybe Lisa could try and help while Star looks for a spell and-"
"Nope! No, no, no, no, absolutely not!" Suddenly Lisa come up to the door with a long stick and started poking Lincoln with it to shoo him away. Lincoln got annoyed by his genius sister poking him as she continued to speak. "Apologizes for your problem brother unit but I'm afraid this room is a magic free zone!"
"Lisa! He's our brother!" Lily told her roommates as she picked up one of the laser puppies and used it to shoot a laser at the stick Lisa was holding and vaporize it. "We should help him no matter what kind of issue it is."
"This is a room of science." Lisa informed the youngest Loud in a firm tone. "I refuse to allow any sort of what you claim to be 'magic' in here."
Lily glared at Lisa hard for a few moments but smirked as an idea came to her. "Well its my room to! And I say Lincoln can come in!" Lily then pushed Lisa out of the way and grabbed her brother by his pant leg and let him in. "Don't worry Linky! I'll help you!" Lisa simply gave a low growl in response but could really do nothing since Lily's side of the room was her's to do what she wants with. Like keeping all those annoying laser puppies.
"Step into my office Mr Loud." Lily said as she pulled up a small plastic chair for Lincoln to sit down on. As he did, smiling at his littlest sister generosity and caring nature, Lisa simply stuck to her side of the room and focused on true science. Once Lincoln sat down she picked up on of the laser puppies and set it on Lincoln's lap. "Help yourself to one of our therapy dogs."
"Heh, ok thanks Lily." Lincoln laughed at Lily's little doctor act as the laser puppy looked up at him and happily barked. "Hey there buddy, I'd pet ya but I'm afraid I'd either burn ya or freeze ya."
"Ok Mr. Loud, what seemed to be the problem." Lily said as she walked up to Lincoln again, now wearing some doctor gear like a head mirror, lab coat, and a stethoscope. All taken from Lisa's side of the room, but the 7-year-old genius didn't seem to notice.
"Well lets see, my arm was broken and Star go a spell to fix it and it worked but then it kinda set my left arm on fire." Lincoln explained as he lifted up his flaming arm for emphasize. "She then tried another spell to put it out but then it ended up essentially turning my right arm to a freeze ray."
"I see…" Lily said as she looked over both arms. "Hold on, I think I have an idea for the one on fire at least." Lily then walked over to Lisa's side of the room and while Lisa was about to protest, she watched as Lily took the fire extinguisher, something they agreed they could both use at any needed time, and simply sighed and stayed quiet. Lily returned to Lincoln while aiming the nozzle of the extinguisher at Lincoln's left arm. "Hold still!"
Lincoln braced himself for what was coming and let Lily spray extinguisher foam on his left arm. After about three seconds, Lily ceased fire and both her and Lincoln looked to see Lincoln's left arm covered in extinguisher foam and no longer on fire. Both smiled wildly as Lincoln looked over his arm. "I…I think it worked!" Lincoln said as-
Boom!
Suddenly all the foam on Lincoln was splattered off, landing around Lily's room with some of it even getting on a few of the laser puppies who didn't seem to find. Once the foam was off, Lincoln's hand roared with fire causing Lily to jump back. This reaction even causing a fire ball to blast out of Lincoln's hand. Thankfully it fired out the open window and hit a random bird flying by, reducing it to a cooked bird and falling into one of their neighbors' yard.
"Birdie no!" Lily cried out as she looked out the window.
"Oh my gosh! Meat from the sky!" They heard one of their neighbor's yell, most likely the one who just had a cooked bird fall into their yard. "There is a God!"
"Did you honestly think that would work?" Lisa said as she tinkered with one of her devices. "Even I could see a primal solution such as that would only last so long."
"Well at least I'm trying to do something!" Lily yelled to Lisa as she stomped her foot on the ground. "You're just being a giant meanie!"
"Yeah Lisa, lay off Lily." Lincoln scolded his genius little sister. "The least you could do is try to help me out! How many times have I had to help you out with stuff!" However, as Lincoln yelled at Lisa, he ended up pointing his right hand aggressively at Lisa and in doing so ended up shooting an ice projectile at her and Lily and Lincoln watched in surprised as Lisa was frozen inside a giant ice cube.
"…She'll thaw. She's fine." Lily immediately said as they looked at the Lisa Popsicle. "Well, I think I have one more idea. Wait here!" Lincoln then watched as Lily quickly ran out of the room, leaving Lincoln alone with a frozen Lisa and eight laser puppies.
After about two minutes of waiting, Lily came into the room holding some things in her hands. "Put these one!" Laying them in front of Lincoln, he saw that his youngest sister brought her an oversized oven mitt from the kitchen and a big winter glove from where they keep their winter supplies. "That should help at least make it so you can touch stuff!"
"Huh, well worth a try." Lincoln said as Lily lifted up the glove and opened it up for Lincoln to just slide his hand through easily. Lincoln did so with his left hand as Lily quickly retreating her hands once Lincoln had it a bit inside. Once Lincoln left hand was completely in the mitt, he decided to test it out and put his hand on the wall behind him and, thankfully, he didn't burn it up. "Hey! It works!"
"Yay! Now the glove!" Lily enthusiastically said, picking up the winter glove for Lincoln's right hand and opening it up. They copied the process of Lincoln putting it on his right hand. Once it was completely on, similar with his left hand, Lincoln placed the now gloved hand on the wall to see if it was nice and insolated and sure enough it was. Not one bit of frost appeared on Lily's wall.
"Alright! Thanks Lily!" Lincoln said as he knelt down to his youngest sister and gave her a pat on the head with his right gloved hand. "This should be a good temporary solution until Star finds a spell to turn my arms back to normal."
"Glad I could help big brother!" Lily said as she gave Lincoln a quick hug before the Loud boy made his way out of his youngest sister's room.
The rest of the day was…interesting. Thankfully Lily's plans with the oven mitt and glove worked with isolating Lincoln new fire and ice arms so the white-haired boy didn't go around accidently freezing her incinerating everything in sight. And Lisa did eventually thaw out and with no noticeable damage other then the young genius being a bit ticked off but that wasn't anything all to new with her.
Lincoln did explain the situation to his parents and family once dinner rolled around and while all of them, especially Lola, were happy to hear that his broken arm got better, a few did show concern over his new problem with not just one but both his arms.
But Lincoln was quick to reassure everyone that, thanks to Lily, the situation was under control and that Star was looking up a spell to fix everything as they spoke. Which was true as Star had spent the entire time looking through her book of spells for something to turn Lincoln's arms back to normal. She even avoided dinner, which Lincoln simply brought up for her, and didn't even sleep. Something Lincoln was quick to find out the next day…
Lincoln let out a yawn as his alarm went off, signaling him to wake up. That's right, today was a school day which meant unless Star found the spell to turn the fire and ice off, he would be going to school with an oven mitt and winter glove.
As Lincoln woke up, he looked to see that half of his was scorched and the other half was covered in a thick layer of frost. Sighing, Lincoln stood up and just decided to deal with it later. He slept with the mitt and glove on but it looked like some of it still leaked out.
So Lincoln proceeded to walked out of his room and headed up to Star's room. But the Loud boy ended up rather surprised to see Star awake with bags under her eyes flipping through pages in her book. "Star?" Lincoln asked, getting said girl to flinch but breath a sigh of relief once she saw it was only Lincoln. "Have you been up all night?"
Releasing a loud and long yawn to pretty much say yes, Star gave a tired nod. "Yeeeeeah. Been trying to find a spell to fix your arms." Star then smiled as she closed up the book and hopped up to Lincoln, abet with less energy than usual most likely due to a lack of sleep. "But I ended up finding it~"
"Really?! That's great!" Lincoln said with enthusiasm, however, he then remembered how exactly he got in this mess and suggested to Star. "Um, before you try anything you might wanna practice it on something first."
"Way ahead of ya Linc!" Star said as she walked up to a desk she had in her room and pulled out a potted plant from under it and set it down on the desk. Star then pulled out her wand and aimed it at the plant as she recited a spell. "Returnio, Armius, Normalritecus!" However, when Star fired the spell at the plant, the piece of fauna ignited on fire and burnt.
"Yeeeeeeeah…that's kinda one of the problems I have right now Star." Lincoln commented as Star winced at the results of the spell. "Look, I'm just gonna get ready for school. You coming or…"
"No, no, I'm gonna focus on this." Star said with a determined tone, not something Lincoln usually heard from Star which honestly impressed him a bit with how dedicated she was to fixing him up. "Just make an excuse for me. Say I'm fighting a bunch of marshmallow rabbits."
"Marshmallow rabbits?" Lincoln asked with a completely confused tone.
"Trust me Lincoln…they look cute at first…but their evil…" Star warned Lincoln while looking right into his eyes with a look that made the Loud boy shiver a bit.
"O…k." Lincoln slow said as he started climbing out of Star's room. "Good luck with the spell."
Once Lincoln was gone, Star pulled up another potted plant and tried out the spell again. "Returnius, Armius, Normalrinny!" But this time, when Star fired the spell the potted plant ended up getting totally obliterated. "…Ugh…"
At school, Lincoln was sitting down at his desk in class getting ready for math class being taught by the strict teacher Mr. Bolhofner. While Lincoln did a few strange looks for wearing both an oven mitt and glove by both his fellow students and the teachers, it wasn't that big of a deal. And since his right arm was simply encased in a glove, it meant he could still write with a pencil without struggle for the most part so his day was fine. Granted he did get a bit nervous about accidentally setting his wooden desk ablaze things have been going easy so far.
But with Mr. Bolhofner however…
"Mr. Loud, I am going to have to desk you to take off those…accessories." Mr. Bolhofner told Lincoln in a firm and blank tone. He was one of the teachers that was least tolerant of the magical antics Star got into. Some of the teachers rather liked the extra spice of magic, some didn't care, and the minority with included Mr. Bolhofner did not enjoy it one bit. School was a place of learning, not witchcraft.
"But Mr. Bolhofner-" Lincoln tried to reason with his teacher, but was quickly cut off but him.
"Eh, eh, eh, butts are for sitting Mr. Loud!" Mr. Bolhofner scolded Lincoln, making him flinch. "I won't ask again. Take them off or you're getting a zero for today."
Lincoln sighed, seeing no other choice, and nodded his head. Deciding to simply rip the band aid, Lincoln clenched his eyes shut and quickly stripped off both gloves and prepared for the worse. "There, now was that so hard?" He heard his teacher said which confused him a bit as he expected both him and at least a few of his classmates to gasp in response.
So, peaking his eye open a bit, Lincoln looked at his arms and ended up surprised himself. Both of them seemed completely normal. No flaming left arm and no chilling right arm. "Huh…I guess it was just temporary." Lincoln assumed as he moved his arms a little to make sure they were alright. "Well thank God." Lincoln breathed a massive sigh of relief as he slammed down his left hand on his desk and-
BOOOOOOOM!
"AAAAAAAAAHHHH!" Lincoln, most of his classmates, and Mr. Bolhofner screamed as when Lincoln placed his hand on the desk the small wooden structure spontaneously combusted into a large fire.
"LINCOLN?! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS!?" Mr. Bolhofner yelled as he backed away from the fire.
"I-I'M SORRY! I WAS WEARING THAT OVEN MITT FOR A REASON!" Lincoln yelled to his math teacher as he looked at his left arm and saw it was once again on fire. However, unlike yesterday where the flames were quite large and spread out, now the flames were more concentrated around Lincoln's arm, almost having an aura-like effect.
"Yeah! School bonfire!" Janna yelled as she stood up in her chair and proceeded to throw her textbook into the burning desk. A few students cheered as they copied Janna's action and threw a few of their books into the fire. "Burn school! Burn!"
"STUDENTS! CEASE THIS AT ONCE!" Mr. Bolhofner yelled with his face going red with anger.
"I'm sorry sorry Mr. Bolhofner!" Lincoln apologized to the math teacher. "I didn't mean to do this I swear!" But as Lincoln said this, similar to yesterday with Lisa, his right hand shot out an icy projectile and it ended up passing through the fire Lincoln started, making it go out, but it ended up hitting Mr. Bolhofner and caused both him and his desk to be frozen inside a giant ice cube. "Oh no…"
"Lincoln Loud just froze the math teacher!" One of his classmates yelled while pointing to Lincoln, making the Loud boy flinch before, "ALRIGHT!"
"WOOHOOO!" Lincoln then watched as the entire class started cheering him on.
"No more math!"
"Way to go Loud!"
"Three cheers for Lincoln!"
Lincoln chuckled nervously at the entire classroom cheering for him for both setting fire in the class as well as freezing their teacher. Guess he shouldn't be surprised they were cheering for him about that second one, hardly anyone in the school liked him. As a result, he was often subjected to plenty of pranks by the students…most of the time by Janna.
"T-Thank you…thank you…" Lincoln stuttered with a shaky smile as he started backing away towards the door. "Now if you excuse me, I'm just…gonna go…" With that said, Lincoln quickly ran to the door and opened it up, not caring which arm he used, and quickly ran towards the hallway, intent on leaving the school to go home and see if Star had mastered the spell.
He might get in trouble for it later from both his parents and teachers, but now he figured it was better to get this fire and ice problem fixed now and never having to worry about it again…hopefully.
Star was a wreck right now. She was continuing to cast spells on plants to try and get the spell to work, all of which entered in either plants getting destroyed or horribly mutated. All this work combined with not getting sleep more over 24 hours left her eyes bloodshot and baggy and her hair a completely mess.
But she still persisted on getting that spell right just for Lincoln.
So, pulling up yet another plant, Star tiredly aimed her wand at it and gave the spell another shot. She lost count over how many times she's tried so far. "Returnio, Armius, Normalrino!" Star let out in an extremely sleep tone as she fired the spell at another plant. The plant in the put suddenly disappeared, but sprouting out from the dirt was an arm. A normal, non-mutated human arm.
Star let out a loud gasp as she looked at the arm with widened eyes. The arm then gave Star a thumbs up as she shouted in victory. "I did it!" Now all she had to do was wait for Lincoln to come home from school and use the spell on him and everything would be alright! No more fire and ice arms!
"Star!" Suddenly, as if on cue to what Star thought, Lincoln's head popped up from the entrance to Star's room. "How's the spell com-AH!" However, Lincoln let out a small scream and flinched when he saw the state Star was in.
"Lincoln! I'm glad you're here!" Star excitedly said as she looked at Lincoln with her bloodshot, tired eyes and held the arm in a pot to him. "I did it! I did it, I did it, I did it!"
"T-That's great Star. R-Really…" While Lincoln should have been more enthusiastic about Star having the spell to fix him up, he was more concerned with Star looking in pretty tough shape. "You said you haven't slept at all since yesterday. You didn't even rest while I was at school."
"Nope! I didn't stop working on the spell for a second!" Star said with an all to wide smile which honestly made Lincoln just worry about Star more. "Now come one! Just come on up and I'll magic you back to normal!"
Lincoln was tempted to say yes…but there were more present and important issue's right now. "Not now." Star gained an expression of surprised as Lincoln said that in a serious voice. The princess watched as Lincoln climbed up into her room, both not noticing that the attitude Lincoln was in causing the elements in each of his arms to die down a bit. "First, you need sleep."
"But-But-But-But the spell…" Star stuttered as Lincoln grabbed her shoulders and started pushing her to bed. However, the word sleep seemed to make her even more sleepy as her eye lids began to drop despite the princess's attempts to stay awake. "The spell…your-your arms-"
"Will be fine until you wake up." Lincoln firmly told her as, without even thinking, he picked her up and set her down on her bed and put Star's blankets over her. "I can deal with them for a little longer, right now I'm more concerned over your health Star, you shouldn't push yourself like this. Even for me."
"But…But…But…" Star struggled to say as Lincoln's actions only lured her to sleep even more.
"Butts are for sitting." Lincoln said with a chuckling, quoting Mr. Bolhofner. "I'll still be here when you wake up and I don't mind dealing with magic hands for a little longer, really. What I want is for you to get some rest and then you can cast the spell on me, ok?"
Lincoln then lifted Star's head and placed it down on a pillow. This seem to do it as Star's eyes finally fully closed as the princess let out an, "…O….k….." before instantly falling asleep, holding her wand like a teddy bear.
Lincoln simply smiled at the site as he quietly walked away, turning off the light to Star's room, and headed back down stairs.
Unaware of someone watching them the entire time…
An hour later, Lincoln was seen sitting on the front porch of his house. Thankfully math was the last period of school so the rest of that class was pretty much all he missed. His parents and sisters came home and he explained to them the situation at what happened at school and thankfully they all seemed to understand and weren't upset at him for it. He also told them about Star sleeping right now and not to bother her as she really needed it.
But as Lincoln sat outside, looking into the deep blue sky, he remembered something. When we tucked Star into bed, neither of his arms ended up acting out. His left arm didn't burn Star and his right arm didn't freeze her. Now he was left with one question. Why?
Ever since he got them yesterday, they just seemed out of the control but when he was dealing with Star, they didn't act out at all. Even now, they seemed tamer as Lincoln simply thought about things. No freak outs, no fearing about igniting/freezing stuff. Just thinking.
Lincoln then laid down on the porch and raised both of his hands in front of his face. His right simply letting out a bit of cold mist and his left letting out a bit of harmless smoke. "Hm, whats the deal with you guys?" Lincoln asked his hands, even knowing he would look crazy to anyone passing by. "Earlier you were out of control but now your just kinda there." Lincoln thought about it a bit more before speaking up again. "Is it because I'm not freaking out anymore? Were you freaking out because I was freaking out? Guess that makes sense, you are part of my body and it makes sense that if I was freaking out the rest of me would be freaking out."
Lincoln sat back up. He looked at the lawn in front of him and, with his right arm, plucked a blade of grass from the ground and simply held it up to his face, starring at it. As he looked at the piece of grass, he simply kept the same mindset he had just a few seconds ago. He didn't freak out. He didn't fear accidently freezing the blade of grass. He was just about to let whatever happen, happen.
And the grass didn't freeze.
"Huh." Lincoln let out as he let go of the grass blade, allowing it to simply blow away in the wind. Looking to his arms again, Lincoln thought about it again and said. "Ya know…maybe I've been thinking about this all wrong. Maybe its not so bad."
Tear
Suddenly, something that sound like scissors tearing through something, came to Lincoln's ears as he looked forward and his eyes widened as he saw a dimensional portal open up in the middle of the road. Lincoln quickly got on guard, causing both of his arms to flare up with their respective elements, as he saw the color of the portal which showed it was opened up by the dimensional scissors belonging to Ludo and his monsters.
Sure enough, first to pop out was Ludo himself, having a wicked grin on his beak as he and his gang of monsters stepped out of the portal and walked up to the Loud House and were met by Lincoln glaring at them. "What do you think you're doing here Ludo?" Lincoln asked as he looked down at the tiny bird monster.
"I heard from the grapevine that Star Butterfly is completely defenseless meaning her wand is mine for the taking!" Ludo explained to Lincoln with an 'evil' laugh at the end before moving his hand in a shooing motion. "Now if you'll just move out of the way so we can come in and grab the wand that would be great."
"If you want her you gotta get through me first!" Lincoln firmly told them as he stomped his foot on the ground to show he wasn't moving. As Lincoln stomped his foot, his lands let off a lot of smoke and mist respectively
"Eh, I suppose I could spare 2 minutes. 5 tops." Ludo said casually before glaring and pointed at Lincoln. "One of you get him!"
The giraffe monster was the one to response as he lifted up a mace and let out a war cry and charged at Lincoln. The male Loud child stood his ground as he, completely on instinct, held his right arm out and suddenly the giraffe monster's head and entire neck as assault by a large gust of icy mist.
Ludo and the rest of his monster gang were blown back a bit and were forced to cover their eyes. When the gust ceased, they looked and gasped to see that the giraffe monster was back first on the ground, his neck and head completely frozen in his as his body flailed around, trying to stand himself up.
Ludo and his gang were speechless at the turn of events, as was Lincoln as he looked at his arms. However, realizing that he was the one who did that, his surprised expression turned to a smirk as he held out his left arm and, not giving Ludo's army a chance to react, shot out a stream of flames towards a purple crocodile-like monster.
The flames completely enveloped the monster as he screamed and ran around in circle trying to snuff the flames out. He then decided to use him brain and got onto the ground and roll around. This did the trick as the monster sighed in relief as, despite his body now being covered in soot, the flames were out and he was ok…before getting hit by a car.
"AAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaahhhh…" The crocodile monster screamed as the car sent him far away to the point where they couldn't hear him anymore.
The monsters then all looked back to Lincoln, who had now taken his jacket off, and watched as his left arm was enveloped with a flaming aura and his right arm had a chilling misty aura to it. "Was he…was he always able to do that?" Ludo asked Buff Frog as he pointed at Lincoln.
"I do not believe so no." Buff Frog state while shaking his head.
"Well, I can do it now, so…" Lincoln said with a smirk as he started walking towards Ludo and his gang. "Lets have some fun."
Ludo's eyes widened at Lincoln before quickly glaring at the boy and yelling. "GET HIM! GET HIM NOW!" Ludo ordered as he jumped up and down with his monster army roaring in response as they all charge at Lincoln.
Lincoln simply gave a fierce smirk as he let out a 'heh' before ducking under the bunch of the blue, bulky, antlered monster and proceeded to upper cut it with his right hand and ended up freezing his head.
With the monster trying to free its frozen head, suddenly Lincoln was caught from behind in full nelson by none other than Buff Frog. The amphibious monster laughed at having Lincoln in his grasp, but Lincoln simply turned his head to look up at Buff Frog and smirked as his right arm suddenly ignited with strong flames. "AAAAAAAAAHHH!" Buff Frog yelled as his shirt caught on fire causing him to let go of Lincoln and run around in panic. "BUFF FROGS ON FIRE! BUFF FROGS ON FIRE!"
Just then a lobster-like monster jumped in front of Lincoln and tried to pinch Lincoln with one of his large claws. Lincoln was able to hold back both half of the claws which each hand, but the monster was clearing stronger as it started to gain an edge over Lincoln and smirked, but Lincoln returned the smirk as the lobster monster looked to see the top half of his claw was started to get frozen in ice and the bottom half was intensely heating up. Lincoln then added injury to injury and stopped on one of the lobster monsters many feet causing it to yell out in pain as it both held his claw and foot in pain.
Lincoln then found himself completely surrounded at all sides by monsters all growling, cracking their knuckles and barring their teeth at him. However, Lincoln remained cool and simply aimed his right fist down and rose the arm itself up. "Let's try this again…FREEZE!" Lincoln then slammed his fist down on the ground, causing a massive reaction as the ground around him and the monsters completely froze.
Most of the monsters quickly ended up losing their footing and started either slipping down on their faces and backs or started sliding around trying not to slip. "Come on you morons! Its just a bit of ice! Its like 12 against one!" Ludo criticized his monsters…from a safe distance away from any ice or fire.
One of the monsters, the one that resembled a giant chicken, managed to use his talons to keep his ground on the ice. It then let out a loud rooster-like call as it jumped in the air and tried to pounce on Lincoln, but the white-haired boy was quick to react and threw a fire ball at the giant chicken with his left arm.
The chicken monster was launched away and landed right next to Ludo with the feathers around his face and front body burnt off. "Ew!" Ludo let out as he covered his eyes while face the giant chicken. "Cover your shame man!" The chicken looked at its now half featherless body and quickly jumped into a nearby bush so no one would see him.
The two headed red monster managed to gain its footing on the icy ground and try to slide towards Lincoln and head butt him with both his heads but Lincoln, who had melted the ice under his own feet to give himself stable ground, easily counted by punching each head causing one to be fried and the other to be completely frozen.
"Alright, as much fun as its been tossing you guys around like rag dolls, I think its time I put an end to this." Lincoln said as the next thing he was something he saw from a movie, he opened up his left hand and aimed it towards the ground and ignited a strong flame in it that launched him clear off the ground and into the sky.
All the monsters, who were now either bruised from constantly falling on the ice, or burnt, or frozen, or all three looked up as Lincoln aimed both of his hands at all of them and shouted. "GETTING OFF MY FREAKING LAWN!" They then watched as Lincoln fired a large stream of fire from his left hand and stream of icy energy from his right hand at all of them.
Was resulted was a swirling mix of ice and fire engulfing all the monsters, making them scream.
When the flurry died down, Lincoln landed expertly on his feet and looked around to see all the monsters sporting both burns and frost bite as they all limbed away from Lincoln as fast as they could and towards a disappointed Ludo who opened the portal for his monsters to step through. "Fine! If 3rd degree burns and frost bite hurt that badly we can go! You bunch of babies!"
Lincoln simply let out a small laugh at seeing the monsters retreat as he dusted off his hands, both of which were now only releasing small amounts of smoke and mist respectively. It was also worth noting that Lincoln's black t-shirt burnt off in the battle leaving the Loud Boy bare chested. Ludo then turned and glared at Lincoln as he yelled. "You haven't seen the last of us! I'll get my revenge, uh…" Ludo then gave Lincoln a questioning look with a head tilt. "Hold on what's your name again? You never told me."
Lincoln sighed and rolled his eyes as he said. "Its Lincoln, Lincoln Loud."
"You haven't seen the last of me Lincoln, Lincoln Loud!" Ludo yelled before stepping through the portal himself.
Once all the monsters were gone, Lincoln smiled and looked to his arms. "Ya know, we were pretty awesome back there. I liked it!" Lincoln then thought hard about what to so say next as he looked into both his head and heart and decided. "I think…I think I'm ok with this. I'm cool with this. I like it."
With his mind made up, accepting what has been accidently placed on him, suddenly the smoke emitting from his left hand and the icy mist coming out of his right arm disappeared. "Wha?" Lincoln questioned at the sudden stopping of both actions.
Before he could question further, suddenly his body started to change. The skin around his right arm started to turn a pitch-black color and the skin around his left arm started turning to a blazing ivory white. But Lincoln didn't freak out and simply watched in amazement. Now his entire right arm and most of the right part of his main body has turned purely black with the same happening to his left only it being the blazing ivory color. His neck, the very middle of his chest and face were all unaffected. But looked to his legs by lifting up his pants and saw that the left side of his left leg was also the same ivory that covered his left arm and left chest and the right side of his right leg was black.
"Cool." Lincoln said with a smile as he looked over his new body colors.
Star started to stir as warm rays of sunlight hit her face. The princess smiled as she sat up on her bed and stretched her arms out along with a letting out a loud yawn. "Ooooooooh man, I needed that." Star yawned out. However, memories of the past day quickly came to her, instantly wake her up as she hoped out of bed and frantically started looking around while gripping her wand tightly. "I gotta find Lincoln!"
"Yo."
"Ah!" Star yelled as she pointed her wand at the source of the voice, only to lower it when she saw it was Lincoln, who was simply sitting down in a chair playing on his phone. "Were you…watching me in my sleep?"
"Huh? Nah I just got her five minutes ago and started playing on my phone. Waiting for you to wake up." Lincoln explained to Star, who was now less creeped out and completely lowered her wand. "Morning by the way."
"Its morning!?" Star yelled as she put both her hands to her cheeks. Just then Star noticed Lincoln's right arm was now black and his left hand was now white and asked. "Woah! What happened to you? Oh no! Is the spell getting worse!?"
"Actually, it's the opposite. Let me explain." Lincoln then went into detail what happen yesterday, the incident at school, his little talk with himself, Ludo and his monsters attacking, and finally him accepting the powers placed upon him and causing his skin to change. "And that's about it."
"Woooooow…" Star let out with sparkles in her eyes. "So…you like…cool with all that now?"
"Yeah! It's actually pretty awesome! Check it!" Lincoln then held both his hands out and created a small flame in his left white one and a snowflake in his right black one. "On. Off. On. Off. On. Off." The flame and snowflake then disappeared and reappeared each time Lincoln said the respective word with perfect control. "I really do appreciate the hard work you put into helping me. Sorry it…kinda went to waste."
"Oh its fine." Star simply shrugged off with a smile. "I'm just glad your happy now and everything worked out…still feel kinda bad for the situation I put you in. I still kinda wanna make it up to you somehow." Lincoln was about to reassure Star that it was fine, but the princess then gained a wide smile as she hoped out of her room. "I know just what to do!"
"Uh, Star?" Lincoln asked in a confused tone as he exited Star's room as well and watched as the blond entered his room. And before he could follow…
"Sparkle Glitter Bomb Expand!" Lincoln heard Star chant the spell and an explosion of sparkles leak out the door to his room.
Lincoln's eyes widened as he saw this and he quickly ran to his room. "Star what did you-" But Lincoln ended up cutting himself up when he opened his door up…and his jaw dropped at what he saw.
"Ta-da!" Star announced with a smile as she gestured to Lincoln room.
"S-Star…this is…" Lincoln was practically speechless. His room was so much bigger! He reckoned it was as big as the living room if not even bigger! His bed was bigger to, and no longer had any damage, and he even had his own tv now!
"Yeah, I know. Pretty great right?" Star said with a giddy tone and bounce to her step. "Even magiced you up your own TV and, get ready for this…your own bathroom!" Just when Lincoln thought it couldn't get any better, Star walked over to another door in Lincoln's now bigger room and opened it up to reveal his own personal bathroom. "I know you said you said you were happy with a small room, but I still wanted something to do to make up for the little situation I got ya in. Do you like it?"
"Star…this is the best gift someone has given me!" Lincoln then wrapped both of his arms around Star and lifted her up. "Thank you!"
"Aw, it was nothing." Star said in a cool tone, making it seem like no big deal to sound cool.
"Hey, how about we get flippee's to celebrate? My treat." Lincoln offered as Star's eyes lit up.
"The drink of the Gods…" Star drooled at the thought of the delicious frozen drink. "Let's go!" Star then pulled out her dimensional scissors and opened up a portal to the gas station and pulled Lincoln through.
The perfect start to an amazing day.
Aw yeah! Lincoln going all Todoroki in this fic!
I bet none of you saw this coming eh?
Me and Petrus wanted a way for Lincoln to actually be useful in fights, especially in the future where things get more intense, and we decided to give him some freaking elemental powers and I couldn't be happier! Just a few things to note...
Lincoln's gaining control over the power was inspired by Finn and the Grass Sword from Adventure Time. Once Finn accepted the curse, he could control. Just like how Lincoln accepted the powers, he gained near perfect control over them.
And Lincoln's skin changing color is based off Gray's Devil Slayer Magic from Fairy Tail. How Gray's body starts turning black when he uses it. So Lincoln's ice half turning black is based off that, as for his fire side turning ivory white, I thought if I turned Lincoln's skin red it would look like he had a giant sunburn and just look stupid. So I thought white was better and gave him a sorta yin yang thing.
Well, that's about all I wanted to mentions, remember to fav, follow, and leave a review and stay tuned for...
