A/N: Okay, so I changed the last part a bit. it still reads the same way but take a look
Word about Bakugo's condition soon spread throughout the entire school like wildfire. Leaving everyone to wonder what would happen to him next.
"Serves you right, you jerk." Tetsutestu was saying. "This is the karma for all the hell you put us through."
"You should think about switching careers."
"If I were in your shoes I'd just pack it up and go home."
"First your hair, and then your quirk. You can't stay at UA if your quirkless"
"You jerks." Kirishima yelled.
"You three should really be ashamed of yourselves."
"Monoma?"
"Why in the world are you defending him?"
"I have my reasons."
"So suddenly he takes you along on a mission and your buddy buddies now?"
"Let's just say it opened my eyes to a whole other side of him we never see."
"You gotta be joking." TetsuTetsu said.
"Do I look like I'm in a laughing mood?"
"Uh, no." TetsuTetsu backed up at the ferocity of Monoma's glance.
"So tell me, would you like to be picked on, If you were in his position?"
"He deserves-"
"Answer my question."
"Well no I wouldn't."
"Well then. I'm glad you feel that way."
"But I was just-"
"Leaving?"
"Okay Monoma sheesh, no need to turn into Bakugo." TetsuTetsu said leaving with the others.
"Monoma." He heard Bakugo utter his name as he was leaving. He turned his head and smiled over at him.
"No thanks needed. Just hearing my name is good enough." Bakugo presented him with a small smile.
He was on the couch with Emiko while Kirishima had been playing pool with Kaminari and Jiro when all the fuss erupted.
He wanted to go up to his room, but didn't have the energy to get up and walk. He saw Erity enter the room. They shared a glance with one another before she decided to sit beside him on his other side and rest her head on his shoulder. He outstretched his arm and placed his hand on top of hers.
He turned his head as she gazed up at him in surprise. But after their gazes met, she smiled and linked their hands together. As if Erity understood that he needed closeness. Everything seemed so much further away than before. He heard Emiko sigh beside him. Bakugo felt her stiffen when Erity sat down next to them and felt the tension in their linked hands after what he just did.
"Hey." He gently put his head against hers. "There's no need for that."
"I'm going to bed." She said.
"Emmy wait."
'Did he just give her a pet name?' Erity asked herself as she watched Emiko leave. "Stay here, I'll be right back." She walked briskly after Emiko. Who had already traveled up a few flights of stairs and turned down the hallway. "Emiko, wait! Emiko."
"My quirk didn't do this to him!" She turned around, clearly panicked and distraught. "This isn't my fault this time."
"I didn't come here to start pointing fingers or pass blame, or anything like that."
"You aren't going to blame me?"
"No. I know this isn't your fault. And I know that Katsuki's feelings for you are genuine and not brought on by some sort of forced quirk manipulation."
"You're always casting shade over me. What's so different about this time?"
"The me you once knew from before has changed. I'm no longer the same person I once was."
"In two weeks? How?"
"I value Katsuki's friendship too much. And although I'm scared that things may turn out like before, I'm not about to let myself go through the monstrous rage and petty jealousy. It consumed me. I wasn't myself. I've learned to let things come as they are. If you love someone, you should set them free right?"
"...I don't know what to say."
"I may have blamed you before, but honestly I'm starting to wonder if I'm the one who caused the most damage. You may have lured them to you, but…you never lead them to hurt themselves. Your quirk doesn't do that. I lashed out. I resented you because your quirk helps you make friends. When mine only weirds people out. Not that I'm complaining. If my being near him like that bothers you I'll go and you can come back."
"No I, I'm not sure if I can do this. I've known several people that went through the same thing. It caused their loved ones to go through so much agony and grief. Not to mention the amount of hours you'd be losing wasting your time on helping them get better when you know they won't."
"That doesn't mean Katsuki will end up the same way."
"Doesn't it though? I didn't sign up for this."
"You are his rock. You can't abandon him now. That will destroy Katsuki for sure."
"What do I do?"
"So what? You'd rather run away and hide?"
"...Katsuki."
Katsuki couldn't keep quiet anymore. And as much as he wanted to vent and scream his frustrations he would not allow this conversation to be heard by outside ears. He tried his very best to keep his voice from reaching down to the floors above and below them. Or anyone that may be in their rooms on this floor that stayed inside them.
"You think you're scared? What about me? I'm the one who has to live with this day in and day out." He walked forward slowly with every step and every word. "I want you flip this around for a sec, imagine you were the one who had the cancer. And I decided to split. How would you feel then?"
"Katsuki I-"
"Scared? Lost? Alone? Hopeless? Yeah, I'm a regular walking depressed ray of sunshine. But I need you. Now more than ever right now." He moved past Erity. "If the shoe was on the other foot here you better believe I'd be there every step of the way to support you, because you can't be in a relationship and just assume nothing bad will ever happen." Katsuki stopped in front of her. "Please Emmy, don't abandon me now." He reached for her, putting his hands on both sides of her head and leaning in to kiss her.
Erity wanted to gaze away but the scene before her was beautiful.
"I realize I can't force you into this. And I'll understand if you need more time to think. Go sleep on it, maybe after some rest you'll feel better."
"Emiko." Erity said as she was about to enter her room. "Kick your fear in the ass, once you do that you'll realize all your previous hesitations were stupid."
"I'll remember that." Emiko giggled. "Goodnight."
"Night." Katsuki said. He turned back towards Erity. "Jesus Erity what the hell did I walk in on?"
"I'm not sure, but. I think Emiko just had a bunch of emotions piled on together and she just didn't know how to process them. And this was the result."
"The things you said. You were amazing. Not everyone can easily admit that they were wrong or at fault."
"So you were there the whole time?"
"After your previous encounters with each other can you blame me? I went just in case things went sideways."
"Well they didn't" She paused. "I mean-"
"I know what you meant." Katsuki gazed out the window. "Hey, if it's unlocked do you want to go up to the roof? I don't really feel like going downstairs with everyone else, or being alone in my room."
"Sure we could do that." She said as he walked past her. "It looks like the perfect night for stargazing. Too bad we aren't allowed to fight right now."
"I wouldn't be in the mood for it anyway."
"Say it ain't so Katsuki, you not in the mood for a fight? I bet I could get you there real quick?" He stopped to turn around. She saw his sadness in his eyes and the tears that were flowing from them. Her smile vanished and she mentally kicked herself for saying such things.
"Not right now. I'm too emotional to fight or make rational decisions. So maybe next time okay?"
"Alright but next time you better fight me. Got it?" At least she got a small smirk out of him as they finally made it to the doors to the roof they discovered that it was in fact unlocked. They opened the doors and walked out to the roof. "Oh wow it's really beautiful out here." It was the first time she had been up here. Up on a high mountain above everything else."
"I didn't come here for the scenery."
"Well then what did-" She turned around to face him. When she was suddenly against him, his warm muscled, powerful arms that could kill with ease were warm and gentle as they were wrapped around her. His left held onto her waist while his right touched her near the shoulder blade. She felt the warmth as well as the wetness of his cheek as his head found shelter in the crook of her neck.
"For this." Erity heard Katsuki's voice break as well as feel his entire body shake. "I came here for this."
Erity gasped, without hesitation she leaned into the hug, smiling when her movements caused Katsuki to cling to her a bit more tightly. Erity closed her eyes, opening them again to realize that this was in fact not a dream.
If this was as close as he'd let her ever get to him Erity would gladly take it. She'd etch every part of this into memory as it was very likely not going to happen a second time. "Cry as long as you want to Katsuki. I'm not going anywhere."
"You run away and I'll kill you."
"There's that fiery spirit."
"Shut up." He was trying to scold her but Erity heard a bit of humor in his tone. "Stop talking, you're ruining the moment with your words" Erity smiled, she was happy to cease the conversation and indulge.
