A/N: Warning, talks about death and suicide.
The chemo only seemed to make things worse. As Erity came to find out later on. The first day became quite a spectacle, though both Emiko and Bakugo blamed it on their headaches.
Erity felt there was something else going on.
She didn't have any proof
She didn't feel like digging her own grave if her suspicion happened to be wrong.
Erity had worked so hard, and come too far ahead now to just push the rewind button and go back to the beginning.
Maybe Emiko's quirk had been working on him all this time, and the chemo was causing a negative reaction. It would explain why both of them were brooding. Or perhaps, Emiko really did care for Katsuki and she stopped using her quirk on him a long time ago. Ending in the same result.
Was that even possible?
It was hard to tell without asking a bunch of questions.
"I'm curious about something Eraser." Erity was saying. "Would chemo have any effects on quirks that may have been left behind by accident? Say for example Shinso used his brainwash ability on Katsuki. Would the chemo then see that as some sort of virus and then start attacking parts of his brain?"
"That's a hard question to answer. Firstly you'd need a DNA sample of the quirk you're inquiring about. And then we'd use that test to run against Bakugo's to see where the results are. I highly doubt you'll get permission from the person in question without some sort of play by play of what your plan is."
"I see."
"However, that doesn't mean that I won't do some digging of my own. Your question, although preposterous, seems to carry a bit of logic to it as well. Just be aware that I'm putting you under that same microscope as everyone else."
"No problems here."
"I'm assuming you want a certain someone's DNA, right?" He said as he held up the necklace she had given him.
"Right."
"Just remember, you aren't alone in your worries here. I care for all my students. Bakugo's a great kid, who's just misunderstood by those that don't share in his unique way of thinking. At times I find myself showing my fangs to protect Bakugo's individuality from becoming cracked by society's standards on how they think a hero should act."
"You won't find me dashing under the limelight in a skimpy outfit while giving out false hope and fake cheeriness."
"Exactly." Aizawa then left her alone to think about things and do more brooding of her own. She had wanted to find Katsuki. But this was his full day with Emiko. He'd made it clear that it was the one day he'd promised to spend with just her. Nothing would change that. Not even a sparring match.
Things between those two seemed to be getting more serious. Though she didn't want to imagine how serious. It was hard enough when Katsuki had hugged her. Imagining him hugging anyone else with those arms was-
"No. Don't do this." She whispered. Trying to calm herself. "Don't do this." She whispered again. Erity had to take herself out to her space and take it out against the dead trees and mountain. Just so she could calm down.
"There you are." Kirishima found her moments later. "You look like you could use a little relief." He smirked, using his hardening quirk and bumped his fists together. "I can help with that."
"Why?"
"Why don't we call it a gift." Kirishima went into a fighting stance. "Courtesy of Bakugo."
"Katsuki sent you?"
"His only regret is not being able to see your face when you lose."
"Cocky bastard."
"Yeah that's Bakugo alright. So we doing this or what?" He tried to keep his smirk in check as she beheld him with that bloodthirsty look.
"If it's a gift from Katsuki, I might as well take it!" She said dashing forward.
Kirishima however, was a harder opponent to battle (no pun intended) because of his hardening quirk. But that didn't mean Erity was out of ideas. She continued to as Katsuki said 'Douse' him in fluids. Slowly wearing down his armor.
When she finally did pierce his skin though, Kirishima didn't even flinch as he went into his Unbreakable move, ramming into her gut, the sheer force knocked her back the rock wall.
Kirishima wasted no time in letting her get her bearings. He attacked. Piercing straight through her defenses. Armor after armor that she made he broke it all to pieces. "Yield."
"No." She just had to wait for his hardening to vanish at some point.
"Yield." He said again, his strength increasing. Causing damage to the wall after breaking through her armor again.
"You yield." She countered back. Using her strength to push him off her, but that just caused him to force himself up closer.
"I said yield dammit." Staring into her eyes. "The next blow will be fatal."
"I will not yield." She said. She saw his anger at her stubbornness. "But you will." She ducked under his arm before he could react and managed to slice a gash across his back. "Your limit for hardening has finally been reached."
Kirishima came back up in full defense mode, yet his hardening had indeed reached it's limitations so he was just standing there, his body switching between the two.
"Come on." She saw Kirishima's worried glance. "It normally lasts longer."
"Does it?"
"It's like a force is sucking my quirk away."
"You might want to go to Recovery Girl, get yourself checked or something." Erity's face hardened into a scowl.
Suddenly Katsuki's words from before sprouted in her mind. "Perhaps you misjudged her quirk. Maybe there's something beneath the surface we aren't seeing that no one else knows about."
Was he trying to tell her something even back then? Giving her a small hint, that he possibly figured out but couldn't escape from?
Was she reaching out for broken straws again? Or was this sustainable?
Erity ran off towards the grounds. She was about to enter when she heard voices coming from the left. It turned out to be Katsuki and Emiko.
Genuine happiness between them. In fact she had actually never seen Emiko that happy in a very long time. Which brought Erity to a pause and made her blood feel cold.
What right did she have to tear them apart? For what? Just to prove a point that led her to victory while ruining the lives of others.
Led them to leave her
Led them to suicide
Led them to try again if they failed
Led them to their deaths.
Outing Emiko had led to all that and more. And she had to watch as it happened right in front of her eyes. Every person, every outcome, every part of it she had to endure.
She had been forced to watch them all, no hesitation, no warning it was just 'Oh she's watching me, might as well do it now then.' Erity couldn't do anything to stop it.
A love quirk gone wrong. Or whatever this was. She feared Emiko would do it again, but seeing her now…would she really go through with it? If her feelings were true blue and not fraudulent?
She may, if Erity backed her up in a corner. She watched them in strangled silence wanting nothing more than to rewind time. To go back. To stop Emiko from coming here. To stop herself from coming here. So that Katsuki would be free.
"Dammit." She whispered.
"Come here." She heard Katsuki say to Emiko. He kissed her. Such a passionate kiss too. Not like those that Emiko previously encaptured. Real. It was all real. And then it became too real. "I love you Emiko."
'No way.'
"You do?"
"Didn't I just say so?"
'See, this is why I'm confused, Katsuki's still his usual self.'
"I love you too."
"Let's keep this between us. No one has to know."
"Besides Erity you mean?" Erity froze.
"No one means everyone, including Erity."
"Look behind you."
