"Look behind you."
"Wha-" He saw her immediately. He gazed up at her pondering his next move was going to be. She could tell on his walk over to her she wouldn't like what he was going to say. "What's that look for?"
"This is the speech of all speeches where you tell me you're with her now, things will change between us, out of respect for Emiko you won't fight me anymore. Is there anything I'm missing?"
"The part where you tell me that this is all a dream and I wake up."
"Wait what?"
"I said, I'm glad you realize where this is going so I don't have to let you down so easily."
'That's not what he just said.' Erity thought. "So you're just going to give up on trying to become a better fighter?"
"I'm still fighting, but you aren't my target anymore. I've got bigger fish to fry."
"Like who?" 'Are you trying to give me a code or something?'
"If you have to ask, then you're even stupider than you look."
"Deep down you don't really want this do you?"
"Don't make this any harder than it has to be. I'm being nice right now, but if you pester me you'll force me to bring out the claws." He said. "Since we're done you should think about transferring schools."
Erity bristled. "You want it that way, fine. However. I have one condition."
"What?"
"Your chemo isn't done yet. I still want to be there for you. If your wish is for me not to be seen then I will sit outside the building."
Katsuki gave her a small smirk just then. "I won't stop you."
"You know, it didn't have to go this way. I am happy to see Emiko actually smiling like that. And you too. Nothing needs to change Katsuki."
"I already made my mind up. Or did you miss the memo?"
"I got the memo. Just double checking." She paused. "You expect me to believe this crap?" She said attacking him.
"Emiko, I'll be right back. She hasn't gotten the hint just yet. I think I'll go pound it into her" He grabbed her in one hand and blasted away with the other one. They weren't going towards his usual spot though.
"Where the heck are you taking me?"
"My new digs, courtesy of Aizawa." She saw the glee in his eyes. "We won't be bothered by anyone here."
If Erity thought his first space was impressive, it was nothing compared to what she cast her eyes on. A vast empty space for miles around. No cars, no people, no animals. Aizawa seriously let him have this?
"I asked for you to leave me alone. You don't seem to get that I meant it." He struck Erity off balance. "So you'll just have to pay the ultimate price." She saw him using his Howitzer moves, except this time there was no hesitation, he went into it at full throttle. When the whirlwind circled she felt the malicious intent of his words ring through.
If he was going this hardcore, she wouldn't be able to dodge. Or save herself. She watched as Katsuki came closer and closer.
"Recipro extend!"
"Iida?" She breathed. As she saw the glint of his eyeglasses as he sped her away from certain death. They stopped a few feet away where Erity gazed back at him sadly.
"Let's go."
"Iida, I know you are all about rules and all. But for now-"
"If you had been hurt or seriously injured then I would surely say something. But since I came in time there's nothing to explain."
"How did you find us?"
"I saw Bakugo carry you off like that, so naturally I followed. Something happen?"
"Yeah, but I'm not going to talk about it. If I do bad things will happen."
"You can't know that for sure."
"It's happened before Iida. If word gets out…I can't let that happen again. I just can't."
"You have piqued my curiosity." Iida looked behind him. "Bakugo doesn't appear to be chasing us."
They went back to the grounds of the campus. Erity saw Emiko standing nearby. But she refused to play this game of hers again. She instead went inside and had many nightmares of the Howitzer swallowing her whole.
Each one was worse than the last.
