Now here's a chapter that certainly has a different...vibe then most previous chapters. May not be super long but it still has quite a bit in it so don't skip out on this one trust me. Also, once again major shout out to my best friend for once again proof reading this chapter. I can not put into words how awesome this guy is and how much I value him as a friend. You're the best man.
So with that said, I hope you all enjoy it.
It was an early Saturday morning at Royal Woods. Today wasn't sunny like most days prior but instead…snowy. That's right, white powder was slowly falling from the sky and leaves were falling from the trees to show that the fall season was ending. The snow wasn't heavy as it was the first snow of the season so it was just a light coating of powder landing on the ground.
And during this morning snow fall, the Mewman princess Star Butterfly was sleeping in her bed. But she wasn't exactly sleeping soundly. The Mewman was constantly tossing and turning in her sleep with her face being rather distressed as she mumbled in her sleep. "Una-Unacceptable. Mm...un-unacceptable. Unaccepta-!" Star then shot up in bed wide awake. "Aah! Lemons!"
Star then breathed heavily as she laid back down in bed…and started glowing purple. "Geez…why are my dreamy dreams so weirdy weird lately…" Star mumbled to herself as she grabbed a pillow and put it over her face. It had been a little over a week since Mewnidependence Day and ever since then things have been so…weird and confusing to Star lately.
Before everything seemed to clear to her. Mewmans were good, and monsters were bad. End of story. But everything that Lincoln had said, and everything she had read about were all buzzing in her mind making it hard for Star to concentrate or focus on much of anything at all.
In a way, Lincoln was right. Mewmans did steal the land from the monsters. Mewmans did just utterly decimate monsters with over powered magic and force them to retreat. And then there was Buff Frog. Star had seen the monster sitting on the tree looking completely sad, and not fake sad either to lure her into a false sense of security. Genuine sadness that Star could only assume would be losing his job from failing to get his wand.
And while yes, he did and constantly tried to steal her wand for Ludo, she still couldn't help but feel bad. The monster just lost both his job and his home and probably his friends. He had true feelings other than wickedness and that caused Star to pretty much question her entire moral views.
When she asked Lincoln about it, he more or less gave her the same talk he gave Hekapoo. How no single species can be completely good or evil. How every induvial is pretty much their own person that you can't judge based on species, race, skin or anything like that. And when Star thought about it, other then Ludo and his army, monsters never really attacked her…unless they were provoked. Like how when she was young, a pair of cyclops' ran after her and Pony Head for stealing their treasure. And there were many more times like that where Star could honestly be considered the bad guy.
All of it just kinda…messed Star up a little. Her head felt like there was a mental tornado going on in her head at all times causing her to stare out in space randomly through out the day. And overall…
"Everything is just so…confusing now." Star said to herself, her voice still muffled by the pillow on her face. Star remained like that, completely silent, for the next few minutes before she finally removed the pillow from her face and looked at her hand and saw she was glowing purple yet again. Normally Star would have a mini freak out about this and try whatever she could to make it stop, but due to just waking up and her mind being all over the place about this whole monster thing lately, she simply sighed and said. "Ya know, at this point I don't even care anymore. Who knows, maybe it makes me grape flavored."
CHOMP!
"Ow! Nope. Don't taste like grapes…bummer." Star said after biting herself to test if her theory was right. "Welp…sorry bed but its time for this princess to get up." Star, with some effort, managed to roll herself out of bed and fall face first onto the floor. "…Ow…"
Star remained on the floor for a solid minute before she built up the strength to push herself on the floor and stand back up. Still glowing purple, the Mewman made her way over to her vanity and proceeded to do her normal morning rituals, still not caring that she was purple or not. So, she brushed her hair, took off her pajama's and put on some day cloths, put on her devil horn headband.
By the time Star was finished, the princess had finally stopped glowing purple and was now ready for the day. "Well, at least that was easy." Star told herself as she gave a small smile to her vanity mirror.
INCOMING CALL FROM MOM…
"Huh?" Star hummed as she looked to her interdimensional mirror and saw that, just as the mirror said, her mother was currently calling her up. Something…that didn't really improve Star's mood. "What does she want…" Star sighed out as she knew things would only get worse and more annoying for her if she just ignored the call.
So, begrudgingly, Star walked over to the interdimensional mirror, forced a big smile on her face, and answered the mirror. Now in front of her on the interdimensional calling device was her mother Queen Moon who was giving her daughter a small smile. "Hi mommy." Star greeted her mother, still forcing that smile on her face. "Is something wrong?"
"Oh relax sweetie everything's fine." Moon reassured her daughter making Star breath a mental sigh of relief that she wasn't in trouble for any reason. Though with the liberation of Saint Olga's Moon could no longer threat the princess with that. "I just called because there's something I wanted to give you."
That…That peaked Star's interest. "You got me a gift?" Star's big toothy smile was now genuine as her mother rarely gave her gifts outside of holiday's and her birthday. So this was certainly a welcome surprise.
"Well more of an instruction booklet then a gift." Moon explained to Star making the princess lose her smile and raise a brow at her mom. Instruction booklet? What did she mean by that? "Hold out your hands. It should be arriving right about now."
"Um…ok." Star said in a confused and unsure tone as she held out her hands. Right as Star did this, a small portal opened up right above Star's hand and from it dropped a big and rather heavy dark purple book with a title that made Star cringe. 'MEWNI GUIDE TO BEING QUEEN.' Star didn't like this 'gift' one bit. "Gee…..thanks…"
"That should have everything you need to being the future queen of Mewni." Moon explained to her daughter as Star frowned and opened the book to see exactly what 'instructions' she was supposed to follow. Star quickly regretted this decision as what she saw in the book made her cringe hard and remind her of the horrible stuff taught at Saint Olga's before they freed everyone from Heinous' rein. There was a page saying 'A Queen's appearance shall always exude elegance and grace.' And 'A Queen must never sit comfortably.' As well as 'A Queens head must always remain upright.'
'These women look so miserable.' Star said in her mind as the last thing she wanted to do was…just about any of what was in this book. It looked awful! And her mother expected her to follow all of it! "Mom…do I really have to do all this?"
"Yes." Moon confirmed with a nod. "As future queen of Mewni it is your duty to both hold an example as well as rule your people the correct way."
"Yeah….I know…." Star muttered in a bitter tone, hiding her face behind the book so her mother wouldn't see it.
"Good. Now I must be off. Meetings and all that." Moon explained before giving her daughter a regal-like wave. "Bye sweetie, love you."
"Bye…" Without even saying 'I love you back' Star was quick to hang up on her mother and release a heavy sigh. Her face not looking happy at all. Despite her better judgement, Star looked into the book again and each page only making her angrier about what was expected of her. Never show intense emotions, no public displays of affections, no showing teeth when you smile.
All of it just…got on her nerves! This wasn't who she was. It was as if her own mother was trying to change who Star was as a person.
But the next page Star flipped to was what made the princess snap. On the page was an illustration of a queen wielding a magic wand, a few peasants behind her and the queen blasting a group of monsters with the wand. 'A QUEEN MUST KEEP MONSTERS AWAY FROM HER SUBJECTS AT ALL COST.' Something snapped inside of Star as the princess glowed purple once more and chucked the book as hard as she could against her wall, even causing some cracks.
The book landed on the floor with a thud after breaking a bit of Star's wall as the princess took heavy breaths while rubbing her head. "Ugh…" Star let out as her head felt like it was pounding. Thankfully for treatment she was giving herself at least helped her stopped glowing as she sighed and started walking towards the hatch that led out of her room. "I need a glass of water…"
Star then opened up the hatch to her room, but right as she jumped down to the upper hallway to the Loud House, suddenly a small explosion of glitter went off right in front of Star. When the cloud of pink glitter disappeared, it showed Star was now coated head to toe with pink glitter.
Star knew who did this. It was a bit of a tradition every Saturday morning. But right now, Star wasn't in any mood to deal with this and so when she heard the laughter of Luan Loud with the head of said girl poking out of her and Luna's room Star was only ticked off more then she already was from the prank. "Wow Star! You sure have a sparkling personality!" Luan punned as she fully stepped outside of the room. "Hahahaha! Get it?"
"Grrrrr…LUAN!" Star snapped at the comedian causing Luan to flinch and stop laughing. This action also caused Star to start glowing purple again with the sudden glowing blowing all the glitter off Star. "What the heck?!"
"Geez…sorry Star." Luan nervously apologized, off putted by both Star's attitude and her purple glow "I thought you liked my Saturday morning pranks…"
Star sighed in response as she stopped glowing, now feeling guilty over yelling at the 17-year-old. "Sorry Luan just…" Star began apologizing while she scratched the back of her head. "I'm just…not in the mood today. My minds been in a weird place lately."
"Oh, I'm sorry Star." Luan apologized herself as she rubbed her arm. "If you told me I wouldn't have done it…"
"Its…Its fine." Star quietly muttered before simply walking away. "I just gotta clear my mind alright." Luan didn't get to say anything else as Star head down the stairs, once again rubbing her head. Once Star made it down the stairs, before she could do anything else, she heard the familiar giggling and barking of Lily and the Laser puppies respectively.
"Morning Star!" Lily greeted with a cute giggle…as she and the laser puppies all accidently ran over Star's feet.
"Ow! Ow! Ow! HEY!" Star yelled as Lily and her puppies didn't even look back to see what they did as they ran into the other room, still barking and giggling, while Star once again gained a ticked off look. "WATCH WHERE YOU'RE GOING!"
"Is everything all right Star."
"AAAAAAAAHHH!" Star yelled in fright as she jumped up and started glowing purple again in reaction. Looking to the source, she groaned as she saw Lucy had somehow gotten next to her without the princess even noticing. Typical Lucy Loud behavior. "What do you want Lucy?"
"I asked if everything was alright." Lucy asked Star with her usual blank tone and expression. The goth also noticed how Star's eyes were twitching as the princess glowed purple. "I can sense somethings wrong."
"Everything's…everything's fine." Star told Lucy while running a hand through her hair. "I just…I just can't deal with any craziness right now is all."
"But I thought you were all about craziness?" Lucy asked with a raised brow. In the months Star has been here anyone could tell after just meeting her once that Star was a wild, adventurous, and peppy girl. So seeing the Mewman like this was…unsettling to say the least. Even by Lucy's standards.
"…Yeah…" That was all Star said before walking into the dining room. Still glowing purple the whole time. But as Star walked into the dining room, suddenly she felt the house began to vibrate along with the familiar sounds of Luna's music being heard booming from upstairs. Growling in irritation, Star covered her ears to try and dull the sound of the music.
Before Star could continue further, suddenly she felt something fall into her hair from above and start crawling through her hair. "Ah! Hair demon! Hair demon!" Star then reached into her hair to try and get what was now crawling through her glowing purple hair. "Ah ha! Got ya!" Star successfully caught the thing in her hair and pulled it out to reveal it was a Leopard Gecko. "Whaaaaaa?"
"Oh hey! Thanks Star!" Suddenly coming next to Star was Lana who quickly took the gecko out of Star's hands. "This little rascal got out of her cage and started crawling around."
"Yeah, you're welcome." Star told Lana as she straightened out her hair after its violation. "Just…keep your mythical beast out of my hair please."
"Ok sheesh." Lana said with the roll of her eyes, thinking it wasn't that big of a deal. "No need to be such a drama queen."
Star's eyes twitched at that last remark in particular as the princess watched Lana leave the room. "Don't call me queen…" Star muttered with no one being around to hear her even if she was speaking loudly. Star's eyes then looked to the windows in the dining room and her mood wasn't improved at all as she saw Lola outside training for one of her pageants by walking across a runaway with books perfectly staked on her head…exactly like one of the pictures of the book her mom gave her. "Tch…" Clicking her tongue with an unamused expression, Star simply closed the curtains up so she wouldn't have to watch.
Finally, after what felt like forever to the Mewman princess, made it into the kitchen. But before the Mewman could go and get a glass for her water, suddenly the Loud House's resident genius came up to Star with a small paper cup in her hand. "Greetings Star." Lisa said to Star in her usual tone. "I am currently going about my usual fecal study so if you wouldn't mind…"
Star blankly starred at the cup in Lisa's hand, now knowing due to Lincoln what Lisa did with…that. "Yeah, I'm not making boom-boom for you in that cup." Star said firmly as she slapped the cup out o f Lisa's hand. But instead of the cup being flung into the air it was turned to dust due to the accidental purple outburst of Star.
Lisa's eyes widened as she watched the dust that was once a paper cup fall to the floor. Clearing her throat to steel her nerves, the young genius said. "It seems I…caught you at a bad time. Goodbye!" Star then watched as the tiny genius quickly made her way out of the kitchen.
With Lisa gone, Star could finally make her way towards the cupboards in the kitchen where the cups were kept. And as she made her way over there, "WOAH!" Suddenly Star tripped and fell flat on her back. "OW! WHAT NOW?!" Star yelled as her glowing intensified a bit as she looked up to see that the thing she tripped on was a football. "Ugh…why am I not surprised."
Standing back up, Star picked up the football with the intention of throwing it back outside. But suddenly, the purple glow of the hand she was carrying the football with intensified when-
POP!
"AH!" Star screamed as the football suddenly popped in her hand. "Oh no! No! No! No! No!" Star quickly panicked as she continued holding the popped ball in her hand. She knew how Lynn was with her balls and while she wasn't afraid of the athlete attacking her, she still didn't wanna see her mad. So, doing the only thing that made sense, Star quickly opened the window above the sink and threw the popped ball out of it.
Right in time as well.
"Hey Star." Star flinched as she heard the familiar voice and looked to see Lynn coming into the kitchen. The 16-year-old was looking around scratching her head. And Star had a pretty good idea of what she was looking for. "Have you seen my foot ball round her? Could have sworn I left it in here."
"Uuuuuuh, nope!" Star quickly answered as she avoided looking Lynn in the eye. An all to big and toothy smile on her face as the princess scratched the back of her head. "Can't say that I have! Hehehe…"
"Ah well, thanks anyway." Lynn said as she was about to head out and look for her ball else ware. But before the athlete left, she suddenly felt something off and looked to Star with more focus this time and saw that the Mewman princess was glowing purple. "Woah. What's with the purple Star?"
"Oh, uh…oh its nothing. Just more of my magic biz ya know." Star explained nervously, trying to be cool and casual. "Just trying out a new look, ya feeling me girlfriend?"
"Not at all." Lynn answered while shaking her head, making Star deadpan at her. "But you do you I guess, later Star."
"Later Lynn~" Star said to the girl with a sing song voice as she watched the athlete leave. Once Lynn was gone, Star sighed as she ran a hand through her face. All she wanted to do at this point was get some water, go back to her room, and stay there for the rest of Saturday.
So, finally after all this time, Star reached up into the cupboard containing the cups and pulled out a glass. Star then-
SMASH!
"AH!" Star yelped in surprise as the glass in her hand suddenly shattered to pieces. "Oh come on! How does that even happen!?" Star groaned in frustration as she didn't even put that much pressure on the glass when she was holding it. How did it break!? Star then reached for another glass only for the same thing to happen again and the glass to shatter in her hands. "Grrrr, fine! I'll just use plastic! Like a big girl!" Star then grabbed a plastic cup and thankfully that cup didn't shatter in Star's purple hand allowing for Star to at last get the water she's been wanting to get all morning and-
"Ow!" Suddenly Star felt like her waist and been pricked and looked back to see Leni was right behind the princess with her miniature sewing kit and patching up the shirt Star was wearing. "Leni…what are you doing?"
"Oh don't mind me!" Leni said with her usual cheery and happy attitude and smile. Something Star honestly wish she could be feeling right now. "Just found a tear in your shirt so, like, I thought I could fix it up for you!"
Star was not amused. "Seriously?" Star asked in a blank tone. "Right now?"
Leni seemed to sense the annoyance in Star's tone as the 19-year-old slowly closed up her sewing kit and walked away. "Sorry…" Leni squeaked out as Star watched her leave.
Having dealt with nearly the entire family at this point, Star didn't even wait to get to her room to drink her water. Instead she settled with heading back into the dining room and sitting down, intending on drinking her water then and there.
Before she drank however, Star took some time to look into the water in her glass and look right at her purple reflection. How long had she been glowing purple for now? Star couldn't even be bothered to remember at this point. So instead, Star just stared deep into her own eyes. Luna's music from before now gone leaving the girl in a rare moment of silence.
So with nothing stopping her, Star picked up her glass and proceeded to chug down her water. In just a few seconds, Star let out a satisfied sigh as she finally stopped glowing purple. "I needed that…" Star let out as she leaned back in her chair and closed her eyes.
"Hey Star…are you ok."
Star opened her eyes to see Lincoln now sitting next to her giving her a concerned look. Star simply sighed in response as she looked away from Lincoln. "Yeah…totally, totally, totally, totally." Star muttered as she ran a hand through her hair. "I'm just fine…"
"Are you sure?" Lincoln asked as he continued giving Star a worried look. "Its just…I ran into a few my of sisters and they said you acted a little off."
Star let out an annoyed huff of breath as she started glowing purple again. "I said I'm ok alright?" Star repeated as she started to get annoyed over Lincoln's constant asking of the question if she was ok. Not just today but over the entire week. "They just annoyed me a bit alright."
"Yeah I get it but usually you love the antics they get into." Lincoln pointed out as usually the stuff his sisters got into that most would find insane Star would find fun and want to join in or would simply encourage them. "You know if something is wrong that-"
"I can tell you. I know." Star sighed out as she pretty much had what Lincoln would say to her memorized. "Look, I don't have anything to say alright. I just…I just want some space." Lincoln then watched as Star got up and started heading back into the living room.
"Star? Where are you going?" Lincoln asked as he got up and followed the princess and saw her putting on a sea green jacket and some mittens. "What are you doing?"
"I'm just going for a walk ok." The purple glowing princess stated as she finished zipping up her jacket after putting on her mittens. "Like I said…I just want some time away from everyone alright? I'll be back later."
"O-Ok…" Lincoln let out with a frown on his face. While he wished Star would just talk to him about her issues, he respected the fact that she just needed some alone time to clear her head. Something he can relate to. "Just…be safe ok?"
"Don't worry." Star reassured him before going out and prepared to talk a nice long walk through the snow-covered streets of Royal Woods.
"Why is she glowing purple like that? Do you think she turned herself grape flavored?" Back on Mewni at the castle of Ludo, Ludo and Toffee were currently watching the scene of Star going out walking on the tv screen. It had been an interesting week after they had fired Buff Frog. The monsters of Ludo's army were on edge as they were afraid of Ludo and Toffee possibly firing them as well so they were doing their best to keep their leader in a good mood.
Meanwhile the two in charge had been keeping a close eye on Star and the rest of the family with their spy cameras. While there were many times Ludo wanted to attack and go steal the wand, Toffee stopped him and said to wait for the right moments.
"I doubt that sir." Toffee said with the roll of his eye. The little monster's stupidity was starting to wear on Toffee…but it didn't matter. Not much longer now. "But she is actively separating herself from the family. Even that boy there."
"So she'll be defenseless!" Ludo cheered as he stood up in his chair with a wide smile on his beak. "Now's the perfect time to get the wand right? Right?!"
"Hmmm…" Toffee hummed, not acknowledging Ludo's question as he kept an eye on the screen until the purple glowing Star left. They only had camera's set up around and in the house so they couldn't watch Star once she left the house. Still, the lizard monster didn't need to watch Star any longer. He had his plan. "She appears to be…stressed out whenever she's in that purple state."
"That's perfect!" Ludo said as he started jumping up and down on his seat. "She's alone and stressed out! She might as well be handing the wand to us on a silver platter!" Ludo then, without even consulting with Toffee on the matter, quickly started running out of the room. "I'll go tell those idiots that its time to head out soon!"
…Toffee smirks.
"You do that Ludo…you do that."
The walk was rather nice for Star. The air's chill felt rather good since she was wearing warm enough so that way it was only a tiny shiver then absolutely freezing. Plus, it was fun to catch the occasional snowflake with her tongue. And it was nice and quite as most of the sounds only came from the cool winter breeze and the occasional car passing by.
But despite this…Star never stopped glowing purple the entire time throughout her walk.
Even with the nice and quiet winter environment, Star's mind was still in a weird place as it was flooded now with both the whole monster thing but also about with her mother's stupid expectations for her. Did her mom actually want her to be like the emotionless doll that Miss Heinous turned young princess's into? Did Moon not…actually like Star the way she was?
She gets that she's a princess and that Moon was the queen, but they were still mother and daughter. Star would just wish that Moon would just for one day stop being a queen to Star and start being a mom. A mom she could talk to and bond with and maybe just have a mother's day out with. Star couldn't even remember the last time she and Moon had some quality mother daughter time. And each day that possibility just seems less likely to happen.
Sometimes Star wished they were just a normal family instead of a royal one. That seems like it would just be easier as well as actually let them all be closer. But Star was a princess that would one day have to take on the responsibilities of being the queen of Mewni one day…and there was nothing she could do about it.
Star sighed as she closed her eyes and looked down. "I wish I could just stay here on earth…" Star let out in a saddened tone.
"Heh, should have known. Who else could damage the street like you Star?"
Star's eyes widened as some pink came to her purple cheeks at hearing the familiar voice that almost seemed to calm her down just like that. Turning around, she saw none other then Jackie skateboarding towards her while wearing a dark green winter hat over her helmet and black jacket with mint green highlights. "Oh, hey Jackie." Star greeted as the skateboarder stopped right in front of her with Jackie quickly raising an eyebrow at seeing Star glowing purple. "Whats up?"
"Well, just found the street all cracked up and figured I'd follow the trail to see who was behind it." Jackie explained to Star in her usual calm tone as she got off her skateboard and held it under her arm. "And then well, here I am."
"Cracked up?" Star questioned as she took a look at the street for herself. She was actually a little surprised to see that cracks had formed in the street where she had stepped. Looking under her own feet, she saw that there were indeed cracks where she had literally just stepped. Sighing, Star quickly realized that due to her purple state, she was cracking the ground underneath her as she walked. "Ya know, with the day I've had I didn't even notice…"
"Whats up girl?" Jackie asked as she walked next to Star and wrapped her free arm around her shoulder and pulled her close. The action caused Star to blush, but ultimately, she just leaned into Jackie and took in the warmth the other girl provided. "Tell Jackie what's going on."
While Star was honestly getting a little annoyed at Lincoln saying this, something about Jackie just made Star relax and feel good. Like she could tell the girl anything and she'd understand. Even more so then Lincoln. "Well its just…" Star struggled to find the correct words for the situation she was going through. "I guess its just…there's a lot going on in my life now."
Jackie gave Star a sympathetic look and patted her shoulder. She knew something was going on due to Star glowing purple which seemed to only happen during times of either anger or stress but she didn't wanna bring that exact detail up. So instead, the skateboarder decided to simply be a shoulder for Star to talk to for the moment at hand. It was the least she could do. "Well, you wanna come over to my place and talk about it?" Jackie offered Star with a small smile. "No one else is home so it'd just be the two of us chilling together."
Star thought about the offer for a moment before giving a small smile and leaning closer to Jackie. "Yeah…I'd like that." Star said with a blush on her face.
"Alright, lets go." Jackie said as the two took off together. "I can even make you some hot cocoa."
"Thanks Jackie." Star said as the platinum blond held the princess close. "You're the best."
"Alright, here it is. Casa de Jackie." Opening the door to her home, Jackie and Star stepped inside the formers home with Jackie showing the princess around. "It's nothing fancy but its home." Looking around, Star saw that the living room was a bit bigger than the Louds but nothing to make it stand out.
The carpet was a light blue table with a sizable black couch with zebra printed couch cushions. The coffee table was completely circular and a dark brown color with a tv in front of the room that had a dvd player set up along with an entire rack of DVD's right next to the tv. There were also a couple of love seats set up in the room.
The walls were painted an eggshell white with a few pictures of Jackie and her family hung around as well as a painting or two. There was also a doorway leading into what Star assumed was the kitchen and some stairs leading to the upper level of the house. "Here, make yourself comfortable." Jackie said as she led Star and sat her down on the couch and handed the tv remote in her hand. "Find something to watch while I go make the cocoa." Star gave Jackie a small smile as the platinum blond headed into the kitchen with the princess aiming the remote at the tv and turning it on.
"I know what we're gonna do today!"

"That's right I heard the story over and over again! Gee its swell to finally meet her other friends!"
After a few minutes of channel surfing, Star finally stopped and left the tv on some sort of show that head a catchy song place along with a very cartoony like character singing said song. Just in time to as Jackie returned from the kitchen with two steaming mugs of hot chocolate with her hand. "Alright, bottoms up." Jackie said as she handed one of the mugs to Star. Star was about to take the mug, eager to try it after just smelling the aroma of the drink, but then hesitated as she remembered what happened with the glasses back at the Loud House and didn't want it to happen again with Jackie's stuff. Especially with it filled with a hot drink. "Well? Ain't gonna stay nice and hot forever ya know."
"R-Right…" Star said as she hesitantly reached out and took the mug out of Jackie's hand. Thankfully it didn't break the second Star took it into her hand. So, the princess was able to look into the chocolate brown liquid and give the drink a nice long sniff. The aroma brought a smile to Star's face as it warmed her and helped bring some calmness to her mind. "It smells really good."
"Hehe, I'm glad you think so." Jackie said with a sweet smile on her face before she lightly bumped her own mug against Star's. "Well, bottoms up."
"Yeah." Star let out with her own sweet smile as, at the same time, she and Jackie proceeded to take nice long drinks of their hot chocolate. Both let out highly satisfied sighs after drinking some of the contents of their mugs. Along with laughing after seeing themselves with hot chocolate mustaches. "I do say you have rather fine facial hair lady Jackie." Star said in a fancy man voice.
"Oh you flatter me sir Star." Jackie said in her own fancy woman voice. "But you have simply a majestic stache that I just can't compare to."
"…Hahahaha!" Both girls then started laughing together as they sat down on the couch, wiping off their mustaches as well.
Jackie couldn't help but smile warmly at seeing Star once again back to her usual smiling and laughing self. The girl was still glowing purple, but that didn't matter to Jackie. "Its nice to see you like this." Jackie said as Star looked to her, still giggling a bit. "This is the Star I know."
"Hehe…yeah." Star said as she looked down and only gave a small smile. "I guess lately…everything's been so confusing for me. I mean first there's the whole 'are monsters really bad thing' and then this morning my mom sent me a book telling me how I should be as queen. Pretty much a book telling me to be like those princess's that Saint Olga's turned you into. Its all just been…weighing on me I guess."
Jackie nodded in response while smiling on the inside that Star was telling her what's been up with later. The platinum blond then patted Star on the shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile. "Well, I can't say I know exactly what you're going through…but I do know this." Jackie began as Star looked to her. "You're Star Butterfly. As long as I've known you, you've always done things your own crazy way and didn't let anyone tell you otherwise. For the whole monster's thing, I would say just go with your gut. There's always gonna be some bad apples so just deal with those ones if they become a problem, just deal with them and leave the others alone and treat them like you'd treat any other person. As for the whole queen thing, girl when you become queen, you'll be the one in charge. No one, not even your mom, can tell you what to do and how to act. You're still a free woman! Queen or no queen, everyone will just have to deal with it!"
"Yeah…yeah you're right!" Star said as a big wide smile started coming to her face. "This is my life! And no one can tell me how to live it!"
"Yeah! Preach it girl!" Jackie encouraged as she gave Star a wide smile in response. "You got the stuff!"
"Hehehe, thanks Jackie." Star said as she calmed down a bit from her hype train to look at the girl with a grateful smile. "I really needed that."
"Anytime girl." Jackie said as she put an arm around Star and pulled the princess in close again. "I always got your back."
Star blushed and leaned in close to Jackie. Suddenly the princess's purple glow started dimming with Jackie thinking that Star would finally go back to normal when-
RIIIIIPPP!
Suddenly both flinched as they heard the sound of tearing coming from outside. To Star, she knew the sound came from a portal opening up. So both girls got up and looked out a window showing the backyard to Jackie's house and saw that a portal had indeed opened right up in Jackie's backyard and out from it stepped Ludo along with his gang of monsters. Toffee was also seen stepping out, but the Lizard man took a stealthier approach and was unseen by both Star and Jackie and decided to stop at a spot where he could just…observe.
"Ugh, these bozo's again." Jackie said with an eyeroll as she recognized the group of incompetent monsters that always popped up trying to steal Star's wand. "Alright Star, lets 86 these guys."
"…No." Suddenly Jackie was stop from moving forward by Star as she put an arm in front of Jackie…her glowing intensified as an…unsettling smile came to the princess's face. "I got some stuff I need to get out…just watch."
"Um…ok." Jackie let out as she stepped back, letting Star go out alone. "Good luck, and be careful." Star didn't respond as the princess simply took her wand out, twirled it around, and proceeded to walk towards the back door and step outside to face down Ludo and his gang.
"Well, well, well, it sure has been awhile Star Butterfly." Ludo said in a cocky tone, showing he was way too confident in his chances of taking the wand. "I'm sure you know why I'm here. And it seems your friends including that fire and ice boy are no where to be seen. So if you'll just hand over the wand now we won't have to hurt-"
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Suddenly Ludo was caught off as Star fired a blast of purple energy out of her wand right at a rather large reptilian-like monster that had a human arm on his left side. The blast shook the ground and sent the monster high up into the air where he stayed for a few seconds before crashing down on the ground.
"Uuuuuuh…" Ludo let out in a frightened tone at both the power of Star's attack and how suddenly she attacked without even so much as a warning. "Spikeballs! Get her!" A monster that was even bigger than the reptilian monsters with spiked balls for hands charged at Star intending on smashing her with one of his spiked ball hands.
…Only for the princess to effortlessly catch the spiked ball fist with one hand. "Wh-Wh-Wha…" Spikeballs flinched in surprise at the princess's iron tight grip on his spiked ball hand. Before the monster could try and retreat, suddenly Star threw the large and bulky monster high into the air. Making a mighty leap, Star jumped after the large monster and proceeded to preform an axe kick right on Spikeballs forehead which sent a purple burst of energy outwards and sent the monster rocketing back towards the ground and landing so hard he formed a crater in the backyard.
Ludo and the rest of his monsters all watched in shock and fear as Star Butterfly had effortlessly, and mercilessly, took down two of their biggest and strongest men. They flinched as the princess herself landed right in front of them, a rather crazed look in her eye as she walked towards the monsters. "Ya know Ludo…I'm rather glad you and your little gang showed up…" Star said in an unsettling tone that sent a shiver throughout the monsters' spines. "I have some stuff I really need to work out and you guys are the perfect punching bags to let my anger out on…"
"P-Punching bags…" Ludo stuttered out as a few of the monsters swallowed lumps in their throats.
Star simply gave an unsettling smirk as her entire wand glowed purple as the princess held it horizontally as she used her left hand to direct purple energy out of the wand and have it take shape. And the spell Star let out to go along with it just didn't seem very…Star-like.
"Scythe of Sorrow…"
Her wand was now releasing energy from the top of the wand that was in the shape of a long purple scythe. Star twirled the magic scythe around a bit as all the monsters rose their hands and backed away, not wanting to fight the princess like this. Their leader however, had different plans. "What are you idiots doing?!" Ludo yelled to his retreating monsters. "Get her and the wand! Right! NOW!"
The monsters all flinched as they looked between their leader and the scythe wielding princess as they contemplated their options and-
SLASH!
SLASH!
SLASH!
SLASH!
All the monsters other then Ludo froze. Ludo himself looked and flinched to see that the princess was suddenly behind them, her scythe extended longer and looking as if she had just slashed with it. But…that's impossible right? He didn't even see her move.
But Ludo was soon proven wrong as suddenly all his monsters fell to the ground hardly conscious. Star had attacked them. And just one hit was devastating. "Heh…hehehe…hehehehe!" Suddenly Star was letting out a crazed laugh as she looked back at Ludo, the small bird monster shaking in fear.
"H-H-H-How did you…" Ludo stuttered as he tried to back away from Star while pointing to his monsters.
"Now its your turn~" Star said in a haunting sing-song voice as she rose her magic scythe high above her head. Ludo froze in fear as he knew the princess was prepared to strike him as she let out a psychotic laugh. "AHAHAHAHAHAHA!" And right before Star swung-
"STAR THAT'S ENOUGH!"
Suddenly Star froze as both she and Ludo looked to the door Star came out of and saw Jackie standing there looking Star right in the eye with both a calm and firm expression. "Star…they've had enough." Star breathed heavily as she looked around at the near unconscious monsters around her. She then looked to her own glowing purple hands and the wand-scythe. Her hands shaking as she gripped the weapon.
"Wha…wha…wha…" Star began to question what she was doing, but suddenly Star stopped glowing purple as the princess fell down, passing out.
Jackie was worried, but knew Star was ok and was just glad the princess didn't do something she'd regret. But Jackie soon glared at Ludo as she saw him reaching for the now back to normal wand and stopped her foot on the ground making the bird monster flinch and look at Jackie's glare with fear. "Don't." Ludo simply gulped and stayed in place as Jackie picked up the wand and unconscious Mewman and carried them inside.
…all the while Toffee watched and smirked.
"What a pathetic display back there!" After somewhat recovering from earlier, the monsters headed back to Ludo's castle with the small bird monster being quickly to yell and berating his army. "You didn't even put up a fight! You guys make me sick! No more milkshake privileges for you!" All the monsters groan and cringe at Ludo's words. "I want you to use that time to think about what you've done!"
"Perhaps…" Toffee began as he narrowed his eyes at Ludo. "They should use that time to think about what you've done."
"Exactly!" Ludo said before realizing what Toffee had said. "...Wait, what?"
"Let me ask you a question." Toffee said to Ludo's army. "What kind of leader constantly makes you fight without doing any work himself, makes you do all the work, and yells at you for it even after returning from a battle that you could have potentially died in."
"Are you…talking about me?" Ludo asked with a confused expression while pointing to himself.
"What kind of leader has all the power in the universe at his fingertips with the princess herself being unable to defend it…and get glared out of it by a human girl?" Toffee explained, saying that last part in a mocking tone while mimicking the glare Jackie gave Ludo earlier.
"Toffee…" Ludo said as he wasn't liking any of the words coming out of the lizard's mouth. "what are you doing?"
"Your soldiers deserve better." Toffee stated as he narrowed his eyes at Ludo while standing in front of the monster soldiers.
Ludo's beak drops as the bird monster stammers and stutters, struggling to come up with a retort, before simply glaring at Toffee and telling the lizard monster. "You are fired!"
"Let's put it to your soldiers." Toffee said, not at all intimidated by Ludo. "Who's the better leader: Ludo...or me?"
All the monsters proceeded to mutter…all favoring Toffee. Ludo couldn't believe this. His own monsters turning against him! "You guys belong to me!" Ludo yelled while pointing to his monsters. "Three-eyed Potato Baby, I am like a father to you. Beard Deer, I took you in off the streets!" Ludo then pointed to Toffee as the lizard simply gave a small smirk. "Are you stupid imbeciles really going to listen to him?!"
It wasn't a hard choice…
"AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!" Ludo yelled as he was thrown right out of his castle. Toffee and what were no longer all his monsters looked down at the small bird monster as he said. "You can't do this! This is my castle! Those are my monsters!"
"Not anymore." Toffee said in a harsh and dark tone to Ludo.
"Toffee…" Ludo let out with tears in his eyes as Toffee slammed the castle doors shut.
Locking Ludo out.
Like I said this chapter certainly had its moments. I'm sure you can all see what I'm developing for Star here and what her purple state is based on. And for those wondering, the Scythe of Sorrow spell is inspired by Goku Black's Sickle of Sorrow attack and Star can only use it in her purple state.
Now...make sure to remember to fav, follow, and leave a review. Especially those last two as you don't wanna miss out on the next chapter...
