And here it is folks!
Really enjoyed working on this one. Some parts were a bit hard but I got through it, and of course it holds a lot of weight to in a few areas so be prepared.
So I hope you all enjoy!
Jazzy bar music was heard along with the sounds of people chatting and clinking their drinks together. The Stone Age bar was always a place for people across the multiverse could come and mingle and get away from their problems. Despite it being a bar arguments and fights were strictly forbidden, this was a place for people to come together, have fun conversations, play some pool, and enjoy a good drink.
And for that most part that's what everyone inside was doing…except for one…
"Hic…Hic…Hic…" Loud hiccups were heard from someone sitting at the bar counter. Their face was planted right at the counter hiding their face with people only being able to see her messy and frizzy bluish purple hair as well as the long red flowing dress she was wearing. "Give me…hic another drink…"
A sigh was heard from the person on the other side of the bar counter. Looking down at the drunk woman was a tall buff looking man that was completely made out of rocks, a name tag on his shirt saying Gravel. Gravel was a simple man with simple desires. He just wanted to open up a nice place where people can have a nice time and briefly forget about the problems going on in their universe. But occasionally situations like this happened where people were unable to forget their problems and tried to drink them away. It was always a sad sight to see.
And this woman, was his most frequent patron, always seemed to face the worst of it.
"I don't think you need anymore," Despite having a gruff voice, Gravel's tone as soft as he spoke to the woman. It always pained him to see her like this, he wished there was something he could do to help her. But given her circumstances it just…didn't seem possible. "You gotta stop doing this to yourself…"
"Please…Please just, hic, one more drink…" At this the woman started to sniffle as she slowly began to sob. Her breathing became broken as she crossed her pale arms above her head and struggled to keep herself together. "I-I-I-I need it…just please…"
"…What happened this time?" Gravel asked as he put away the glass he was wiping down. "Must have been pretty bad. Haven't seen you like this in a while."
After asking this the woman broke down even more, her sobs and sniffles becoming louder. "M-M-My best fr-friend…stabbed me in the, hic, back!" As she cried louder the woman lightly banged her fist on the bar counter as she stained it with her tears. "She just, hic, backed out, hic, on me! After, hic, everything we've been through together!"
"Why'd she back out on you?" Gravel let the woman talk about her problems as he picked up a new glass and started cleaning it. "I'm sure she has her reasons,"
"There was no fucking reason!" The woman shouted as she banged both her fist on the bar counter. Gravel didn't react, he simply let the woman let it out. If it cracked then it was an easy fix for him. "She just went on about how she can't watch me destroy myself! Well what does she know! She doesn't know anything what it's like for me!" After angrily ranting, the woman's sobs returned full force and even louder then ever. Some of the bar patrons briefly looked her way before going back to their business.
"…And what's it like for you?" Gravel inquired as he set the glass he was cleaning along with the rag he was using down. "What doesn't she understand?"
"She…She…She…" The woman briefly broke down into a series of hiccups and sobs for the next few minutes. Gravel waited patiently for her to pull herself together, and she did she rose her head a bit and exposed one of her blue baggy eyes that was red and puffy from crying. "She doesn't it know what it's like to not love yourself…"
After saying that the woman broke down even more, releasing everything she was carrying in a series of ugly sobs and loud hiccups. Gravel simply let out a saddened sigh as he lightly patted the woman on the head.
Days like these were the hardest to get through.
PRESENT DAY
Despite all the time that has passed, not much has changed about the Stone Age bar. Other then a few design changes and some things being replaces over the century's but it was still the same bar where people could come to avoid their problems and enjoy drinks with pleasant company.
And still behind the counter wiping down dirty glasses and serving drinks was the bar owner gravel. Due to be a stone-person not much has changed about him over the years other then he now had a long bushy beard that looked like it was made of, well, gravel. Despite running the bar over the last few hundred years he never got bored of it. Sure some might like being secured to the same location for so long but when you get so many people coming from so many different locations you hear a lot of interesting stories that never leave you bored.
And it seemed another costumer would be entering inside the bar as he heard the bell to the door ding. "Welcome to the Stone Age bar," Gravel welcomed the new patron as he looked towards the door. "What can I get-" But he quickly cut himself off as he saw who entered his bar. Hekapoo. Gravel quickly glared at the scissor maker before looking away. "I thought I made it clear. You're not welcome here. Get out."
"I know, I'm sorry for coming," Hekapoo apologized as she stepped forward. Sitting at the bar counter right in front of Gravel. "Look it's complicated I just…needed someone to talk to."
"Then go to someone else's bar," Gravel growled out as he refused to look at Hekapoo. Gravel liked to consider himself a fair and reasonable man. Not being one to lash out or be quick to anger and giving people a fair chance. But…he could never forgive Hekapoo for everything she did to her. "Get out of my sight now, or else."
"It's about Festivia." The moment Hekapoo dropped that name, Gravel froze and stopped what he was doing. Festivia. A name he hasn't heard for many, many years but one he would never get and always held dear to him. The name of his best costumer and the one he always tried to give advice too whenever she came in. "You knew her better then most people…even me. I just…I just need to know everything we…everything I did to her."
"….Fine," Gravel relented with a sigh. "But I'm not serving you anything," Hekapoo simply nodded and got comfy where she was, knowing this was gonna take a while.
EARTH
Star Butterfly could certainly be seen…doing nothing. The Mewman princess was simply laying down on her bed starring up at nothing with a bored expression on her face. "Boooooooored!" Star let out rather loudly as she lazily rolled around in bed. "I'm soooooo booooooored! Bored! Bored! Bored! Boooo-o-o-o-o-od…"
Star let out another sigh as she lazily rolled around in bed. Though it might be hard to tell right now, she is a bit bored right now. Currently nothing at all was happening today. No magical misadventures, no cool earth events, and none of her friends seemed to be doing anything at the moment. It was Star's worst nightmare. A do-nothing day. "There's gotta be something going on today…" With a loud groan, Star got out of bed and started heading out of her room. "Maybe Lincoln's knows something fun to do today."
Heading to the white heads room Star saw him simply playing on his hand held in bed. He looked up at noticed Star coming into his room and gave her a smile. "Oh hey Star, what's up?" Lincoln asked as Star went over to his bed, sat down next to it, and laid her head on his lap. "Um, everything alright?"
"Oh Lincoln Loud, I'm oh so bored right now," Star told Lincoln while activating her puppy dog eyes, making them sparkle for good measure. "Do you know where a gal could have some fun?"
"Well that depends," Lincoln shrugged as he closed his handheld and set it down. "What did you have in mind?"
"I don't really know," Star sighed out, honestly she didn't really know what she wanted to do for fun. Just had to be…something. She just wanted out of the house really and do something other then laze around in bed. "Maybe on a magical adventure or something? Maybe we could go dimension hoping a little bit and see what happened?"
"A magical adventure?" Lincoln scratched his head a bit as he looked away from Star. He could tell she was aching for some action but at the moment…it wasn't really something he could agree with right now. He was pretty happy where he was at the current moment. "I don't know Star…"
"Whaaaaat…" Star pouted her cheeks at Lincoln's response. "But why?"
"Look Star I like magical adventure's really, I do. But I was kinda hoping to have a lazy day today." Lincoln told Star who only pouted more in response. Didn't Lincoln know a lazy day went directly against her no fun rule? How rude! "We've had a lot of magical adventures and other stuff going on lately I kinda just wanted to take a break today and relax. Got no homework, no crisis to deal with, days like these are rare and I kinda like taking advantage of them. Sorry."
"I guess I get it…" As much as Star wanted to be active she could understand Lincoln's need for a lazy day after hearing what he had to say. "What am I gonna do now though?"
"Don't worry," Lincoln reassured Star as he patted her head a few times. "I'm sure you'll figure something out."
"I have something in mind."
"AH!" Star and Lincoln screamed and jumped up in fright as a new voice suddenly chimed in.
"Lucy!" Lincoln yelled as he held Star in his arms Scooby-Doo style and gave a small glare to his little goth girl. Doing what Lucy does best, she just suddenly just appeared right behind Star and Lincoln as they were talking. "Come on can you please stop doing that!"
"You've known me long enough to know the answer to that Lincoln." Lucy told her older brother in her usual tone. The goth then looked to Star as Lincoln set her down on her feet. "I overheard you're in need of something to do today."
"Um, y-yes I am," Star stuttered a bit as she tried to slow her heart rate down after Lucy's sudden scare. Star swears Lucy has to have teleporting powers, no one could possibly be that quiet. "Why exactly? Did you, uh, something in mind?"
"I do actually." Lucy nodded her head as she pulled out something from her pocket. Handing it to Star she saw it was a piece of paper about the Morticians Club, which Lucy was of course a part of. "I was hoping you could come with me today to the Morticians club weekly meet up."
"Hanging out with you and the other creepy goth kids…" Star was desperate for something to do but…she wasn't sure about this. She liked Lucy yeah but Star couldn't deny how creepy the quietest Loud was and if the other kids in the Morticians Club were as creepy as Lucy then Star didn't think it was something for her. "Why exactly?"
"I told my friends about you, and your magic," Lucy explained to the princess. "They really want to see it in action."
"…So you just want me to show off my magic to your friends?" Star quickly deadpanned at Lucy.
"Hey come on it doesn't sound that bad Star, and I thought you like showing your magic off," Star blushed a bit at Lincoln's words. Ok…that was kinda true. She always enjoyed getting to show off her magical abilities to her friends and schoolmates. "Besides I think it'll be good for you to spend some time with my other sisters."
"Really?" Star asked with a raised brow.
"Well yeah, now that I think about it I have kinda just hogged you to myself," Lincoln explained as he held onto his arm. Lincoln knew Star liked his sisters and they liked her as well, but she didn't spend that much quality time with them. "You should get to spend more time with the rest of my family. So come on, what's the worst that can happen?"
"…Yeah ok," Star gave Lincoln a small smile before turning to Lucy and handing her the paper back. "Alright Lucy I have your club is ready to have their creepy socks knocked off!"
"Just one more thing first," Lucy then pointed to Star and gestured to her outfit. "You need to change."
"What why?" Star asked as she looked over herself. "What's wrong with your cloths,"
"You're gonna be hanging out with the Morticians Club," Lucy informed the Mewman before gesturing to her own outfit. "If you're gonna hang like us, then you need to dress like us."
"Ooooh, ok I getcha?" Star nodded her head before grabbing Lincoln's wrist and dragging him out of the room. "Come on Lincoln! Help me pick out something depressing!"
"Um, ok I guess," Lincoln just went along with it, not really having a choice right now.
UNKNOWN DIMENSION
Loud music and the sound of squeaking was heard inside of a tiny hidden bar somewhere out there in the multiverse. The bars patrons consisted only of giant rats, rats that were laughing, squeaking, eating, and drinking as loud as they possibly could with the rat behind the counter having one of his eyes completely red.
All seemed normal, well as normal as things could be in a bar full of giant rats, at first. But then-
SLAM!
All the rats suddenly went quiet as they looked to the door. At first they were afraid the fuzz had shown up and were ready to ditch their friends to make it out, but the figure at the door was soon revealed to be not just one figure but two. Walking into the bar was a giant spider with a large bird perched on top of it.
The rats continued to stare at the new comers as the spider crawled towards the bar counter with the red eyed rat keeping his eye on them. "I'm glad your open?" A voice spoke up. A familiar voice. The bird opened its wings to reveal a third one was with them…
Ludo.
The kappa monster had changed quite a bit. Ludo now had a long beard tied into three ends and was wearing a chip bag as cloths. Despite his dirty appearance…he had a different feel around him. Like this was almost an entirely different Ludo then the one who constantly tried to steal Star's wand.
Ludo hopped off of Bird and Spider and sat down on the bar counter, letting out a tired sigh as he looked at the red eyed rat. "I'm starving, we've been struggling to find food lately," Ludo explained as his stomach let out a loud growl, craving any form of nourishment. "I'd like some porridge please."
After a few moments, the red eyed rat snapped his fingers and a bowl was slide onto the counter. Spider let out a screech as it tried to reach for the bowl only for Ludo to push the arachnid back. "No!" Ludo snapped, the two of them should know this by know. He eats before them! Ludo then began chowing down, eager to get some good in his empty stomach…but as quickly as he started, he stopped and noticed exactly what he was eating. "This…is mud." Looking inside, the bowl was not only filled with mud but other grotesque things.
Right as Ludo realized what he was served, every single rat in the bar started to point and laugh and mock the kappa. "That's not funny…" Ludo growled out with an irritated expression. But this only caused the rats to laugh more with some of them imitating Ludo to further make fun of him. Gritting his beak, Ludo reached into the bag he was wearing and pulled out something that made all of the rats stop laughing.
A wand.
A magic wand.
Its handle was a skeletal hand with a missing finger holding a black stone and on that stone was a green crystal.
A crystal that was clearly the other half of the crystal of Star's wand.
"You messed with the wrong bird, rat." Ludo growled before thrusting his wand forward, aiming it at the red eyes rat. "Face-melting death ray!" The rat screamed in fright and tried to back away as Ludo shouted out a spell and…nothing happened. Opening its eye, the rat saw Ludo looking at his wand strangely. The kappy shook it around to try and making it work but nothing happened no matter what he did. "Huh?"
All the rats then started glaring at Ludo and all of them ganged up to throw Ludo, Bird, and Spider out of the rat bar, slamming the door on them.
EARTH
"Ok Lincoln! I think I got it this time!" Star told Lincoln from inside the changing booth she set up in her room. Star and Lincoln had spent the last half and hour trying to find the perfect goth look to Star and the princess was ready to show off her latest outfit.
"Alright let's see it," Lincoln leaned forward to see what Star had come up with now. So far, her previous outfits, while not bad, weren't really goth. More like punk and gangster.
"Ta-da!" Star then came out to show off her goth look and Lincoln had to admit…this was pretty good. Star was wearing a light black hoodie with a dark black dripping heart in the middle along with a dark gray skirt, spider web patterned socks, and black high heels. She done her hair up to wear it mostly covered her left eye with a few black streaks in her blond hair. Her eyes had black eyeshadow and massacre done on them and she had put spider stickers over her heart cheeks. "So how do I look?"
Lincoln looked over Star a few times before smiling and nodding in approval. "Like you just came out of hot topic," That was the highest compliment someone could give a goth regarding their appearance.
"Yes!" Star cheered with a pumped-up fist. "That's just what I was going for!" Star then moved her hair around a bit so it was covering her eye a little better. "Looks like I'm ready to be one with the depressing kids!"
"Hehehe, yeah I think you are," Lincoln complimented the princess before standing up and stretching out. Before Star went to go get her spell book Lincoln spoke up to her about a small concern he had. "Hey Star just keep the magic you are showing them down to the simple stuff alright? Don't do anything freaky like turning them into vampires or raising the dead or whatever?"
"Relax Lincoln I'm not gonna raise the dead," Star rolled her eyes as she pulled out the magic book of spells from under her bed. Sometimes Lincoln tended to worry more then he should have. "I'm just gonna show em a few tricks of mine and that'll be it, nothing to worry about."
"Well alright then, I'm just gonna be in my room playing video games all day," Lincoln chuckled a bit as he began to head back to his room. "You have fun…or whatever it is goths consider fun."
"Will do!" Star grinned as Lincoln left as she took one last look at herself in the mirror. "Man I really do look the part don't I? This is gonna turn out great! Hey Lucy! I'm ready!"
"I know."
"AH!" Star jumped up and grabbed onto one of her bed post as Lucy suddenly appeared behind her. "Ugh! Please stop doing that! You're lucky I didn't have my wand on me or I probably would have blasted you!"
"I've accepted that this is something I can't change," Lucy said as Star got back onto the floor. "Now we better get going, we don't want to keep the Morticians Club waiting any longer."
"Alright fine," Star straightened out her cloths before pointing to the spell book. "But you're helping me carry the book."
Lucy looked at the book for a moment before lowering her head. "Sigh." Looks like Lucy's arms were gonna be hurting like hell for the rest of the day…possibly rest of the week. "Very well, if it I must."
But before they could grab the book, it suddenly opened up on its own with Glossaryck floating out wearing a green poker visor. "Ah Princess Star, creepy Lucy," Glossarcyk greeted with a simple smile on their face. "I see you're going through a goth phase, good luck explaining that to your mother."
"No! No, no, no, no! First, we're not tell my mom about this at all! It's only temporary since I'm gonna be hanging out with the creepy kids today," Star explained the situation to Glossaryck before noticing the visor on his head. "And what are you up too right now?"
"Oh nothing much just my weekly poker night with the pets." Glossaryck said as he rolled up the sleeves of his robe before narrowing his eyes. "I have to redeem myself after last time."
BARK! BARK!
"You're going down this week Charles!" Glossaryck yelled while shacking his fist in response to the barking. "You're going down!"
"…Well that should be fun," Star smiled as she closed to book and began to pick up one end of it. "Alright I got this end you got the other." Lucy let out another sigh as she went to help Star pick up a book that probably weighed more then she did.
Make that noodle arms for the next month.
MEANWHILE
Back with Ludo, the little Kappa still had an empty belly as he walked through the fields of his current location with Bird and Spider following close behind. Ludo was quiet at first as he looked over the wand in his hand and thought back to the rat bar. He did it exactly how Star did it, he aimed his wand and shouted a spell. It should have been flawless so…why wasn't it? "I don't girls, maybe this isn't what it looks like." Ludo said with an unsure tone as he looked over his wand. Thinking back to it, maybe practicing with the wand for a bit before pulling it on a rat bar keep would have been better. "It looks like a magic wand but…" But Ludo could say anything Spider went up to him and tried to grab the wand with her mouth but Ludo angrily pushed her back. "No! What did I say?! Follow three feet behind me!"
After pushing Spider back Ludo went back to looking over his wand. "Anyway, I don't know. Maybe it's just a baby raddle or a soup ladle or-Hey!" Spider then caught Ludo off as she grabbed the wand with her mouth and tried to pull it away from the kappa. "What are you doing?! No! No! Put it down!"
But Ludo's anger only grew as Spider not only refused to let go, but also started to chew on the wand. "No, no, let go! You nasty, nasty thing!" As Ludo yelled at Spider the crystal on his wand started to glow and eerie almost sickly green color. "You let go of my thing!"
Blast!
Suddenly a blast of green energy was shoot out of the wand and hit Spider point black in the face, sending the large arachnid flying a fair bit with its face now charred black. Ludo was silent for a moment as he witness what just happened. "What?!" Ludo yelled out as he ran up to Spider. His wand worked! It really worked! It was a magic wand he knew it! "Do it again!"
Ludo held the wand out to Spider's mouth again. Something Spider did had to get the wand working so he just had to do it again. But instead of Spider biting the wand Bird ending up grabbing his head with her beak. "Not you, you stupid-AAAAAAAAAHHH!" Ludo then let out a shriek as Bird effortlessly tossed Ludo over to the side. When Ludo landed the wand once again began to glow as the kappa growled and got up. "I said not you bird!"
Just then the wand let out another blast that both hit Bird and sent Ludo back further. Ludo smiled at seeing the wand once again actually doing what he wanted and looked to his animal companions. "Do it again!" Bird then flew up to Ludo and picked him up by the beak again and tossed him to the side. Ludo growled and saw the wand was glowing again, making him let out an evil laugh. "Hahaha! It's working girls!"
Ludo then looked forward and flinched as he saw both Bird and Spider charging towards him. "Oh no, no. I was kidding!" But Spider already wrapped up Ludo in her silk, only leaving his head exposed. "Please, let me go. Let me go!" Ludo pleaded only for Bird to pick him up and drag Ludo into the sky. "I take it back! Don't let me go!" But Bird didn't listen to Ludo as she dropped him, Ludo screaming all the way down.
All the while the wand glowed brighter.
BACK ON EARTH
"Alright, we're here." Lucy announced, with Star feeling a chill go down her spine as she and Lucy stood at the entrance of the Royal Woods Graveyard. "Lovely sight isn't it?"
"Um, yeah…sure. If your definition of lovely is super creepy and spooky." Lucy gave Star a blank look in response. "…Which is probably is. Geez why does it always seem like graveyards are dark even during the day?"
"They are constantly blanketed by a sheet of darkness and despair from the crying souls of the departed," Lucy answered making Star's eyes widened as the chills and goosebumps she had only got worse. Now she just felt like many people were constantly watching her and she felt certain she would have a problem sleeping tonight. "Come on, we don't want to miss the meeting,"
"Heheh…y-yep…sure wouldn't," Star nervously smiled as she and Lucy dragged the magic book into the graveyard. Immediately Star suddenly felt a sense of dread fall over her as she came into the graveyard. Looking up, clouds completely covered the sky and left no room for sunlight to leak through. Creepy critters seemed to look all over with spiders crawling around, crows perched on trees and seemed to be eyeing her, and who knows what lurking in the shadows. "Maybe this wasn't such a good idea…"
"There they are," Lucy informed Star. Looking forward, Star saw a small wooden stage set up with a purple banner above it that said 'Morticians Club' on it as well as multiple chairs set up in front of the stage. And sitting on the chairs was the entire Morticians Club consisting of a tall thin bald boy named Boris, a short round tanned skin boy named Dante, a tall boy with thick black glasses named Morpheus, a tall slim pale skinned girl with braces named Persephone, and finally Lucy's best friend Haiku. "Everyone, I would like to welcome Star Butterfly to this weeks Morticians Club meeting."
"Heeeeeey…" Star nervously waved to the Mortician club members as they got up and started approaching her. "What's up creepy people? Please don't drink my blood…"
"So, this is the magic girl you said was living with you?" Haiku asked as she looked over the Mewman. Lucy's told her and the club members a lot about Star and her magic. While all of them believed in the idea of magic, it was a bit unbelievable to imagine a magical princess living under Lucy's roof. But they've all heard plenty stories around town about Star, especially from the middle school kids. "She looks interesting,"
"I made sure she would look like one of us for today," Lucy explained to her fellow club members. "And yes she's the one I told you all about,"
"Names Star Butterfly! And yeah I'm that lovable chaotic princess from another dimension." Star informed them all with a smirk as she pulled out her wand and started twirled it around a bit before raising it up and making black sparkles come out of it. "I got a magic wand and a magic spell book and everything!"
"So this is a real spell book?" Persephone asked as she kneeled down to the spell book and looked over it, especially its side. "It's massive, it must contain so much knowledge of the arts."
"Reveal to us your dark secrets," Boris said as he started to open up the book only for Star to quickly close it, nearly shutting it on his fingers. "Ah! Hey!"
"Sorry but Butterfly family rules," Star informed them all while smiling nervously. "Books can only be viewed by members of the royal family, so sorry about that!" Truthfully Star wouldn't mind letting any of her friends see her spell book no problem…she just didn't want to risk these goths seeing it. She didn't think they were bad but better safe then sorry, lost thing she wanted was for them to accidentally use magic to turn themselves into bats.
"Oh well, at least we'll get to see some of your magic with our own eyes." Dante said as a smile came to the goth's face, an almost excited expression coming to his face. "This will be one of the greatest moments of our lives,"
"Remember everyone, we already discussed the details of this," Morpheus spoke up, getting all eyes on him. "We'll do our usual poetry readings now and then Miss Butterfly will demonstrate her magic at the end,"
"Ooooo, saving me for the big finale huh?" Star asked as she crossed her arms and smiled. "I can dig it. Alright let's hear some poetry people!"
All the Morticians club gave Star dry looks in response to her positive behavior. "Please control yourself Star," Lucy told the Butterfly girl with a small nudge. "Your endless positivity is like repellent to us,"
"Oh, um, o-ok," Star stuttered a bit as she shifted in place a bit, feeling uncomfortable all over again. "Yeah sure thing," Once that was all settled all the Morticians club members and Star took a seat in front of the stage with the exception of Lucy who went onto the stage.
"Does everyone have their poetry?" All the Mortician Club members nodded as she brought out a notebook and held it up. "Good. Now then would Dante please step up for the first poem of this weeks theme. Mothers."
"Mothers?" Star questioned as she blinked a few times. "What's that all about?"
"After each week we pick a theme of what to write a poem about," Haiku explained as Lucy stepped down from the stage with Dante stepping up with his notebook in hand. "We all vote over who had the best poem and the winner gets to pick the theme of the next week. Persephone won last weeks vote and picked the theme for this vote."
"It was my mom's birthday last week," Persephone explained with a small smile on her face. "I felt like it was appropriate."
"Aw," Star let out before looking to the stage.
Dante then took the center of the stage as Lucy stepped to the side, everyone giving Dante their full attention. "I wrote this poem in honor of my loving mother," Dante said with a sincere tone that Star found odd for a goth. Guess they do have actually have normal human emotions and not just…blank. "Thank you. For standing by me through thick and thin. For not giving up on me when I didn't win. For your patience when I kept pushing you away. For caring when I said I didn't need you anyway."
When he was done Dante took a bow with all the Morticians club snapping in response. Star was about to give a small clap but after seeing everyone else snapping Star rose her brow and did the same. Must be a goth thing. "Aw that was…really nice," Star was expecting something depressing but that was just heartwarming. But for some reason Star felt a lump in her throat appear after hearing that.
And missing a green flash briefly appearing on her wand.
After Dante stepped off the stage, Morpheus stepped up with his own notebook. "I wrote this poem in honor of my mother. Though she can be annoying, especially when she drags me into mother-son classes, I still love her." There were mutters of agreement throughout the club as Morpheus began. "I am grateful for knowing I can count on your strength. Ask for your support, and know you'll go to any length. When I lose my way you help me get back on track. When in pain you comfort soothes and brings me back."
'But mommy…'
'Not now Star I'm busy. I told you not to bother me while I work.'
Star suddenly let out a gasp as she was snapped back into reality as the Morticians club all started snapping their fingers. Star briefly flashing purple for a brief second before going back to normal. "Hey Star," Lucy spoke up to the princess with a raised brow. "Are you ok?"
"H-Huh? Yeah why wouldn't I be?" Star didn't know why she was hesitant to answer. She was just a little cold right now. Yeah that was it. She should have worn a coat instead of a hoodie. "I'm totally fine. Totally, totally, totally, totally."
"Hmmm…" Lucy simply hummed in response as Boris took the stage next.
"This is in honor of my mother who supports me no matter what." Boris said before he began to read. "I was lucky because when I was sad you gave me faith and hope. When I was confused you taught me how to cope. When I felt I couldn't go on you carried me long miles. When I didn't believe you restored my smiles." Boris then looked to the stage when he was finished. "Of course, it's only metaphorical smiles. It was the only rhyme I could think of,"
The club all nodded in understanding as Star simply crossed her arms and looked down. "Must be nice…" Star grumbled out as she lightly kicked the ground. Her wand flashed green once more.
"Are you sure you're ok Star?" Lucy asked once again, starting to get worried about Star. Something seemed…off about her right now. "You seem tense right now,"
"I'm fine ok!" Star suddenly snapped, making Lucy flinch and her eyes to widened. Star noticed this and quickly regretted her actions as she sank down into her seat. "I…I'm sorry I just…I don't know what's wrong with me…"
Star then curled up into a ball and hugged herself. Before Lucy could do or say anything Haiku stepped up and started reading her poem. "Mom, thank you for your guidance and the faith you've shown. For giving me a safe place where I have grown. For showing me how to strive. Because of your love I will survive."
SLAM!
Suddenly all the goths turned to Star as she stood up while slamming her hands down on the two chairs next to her. "Ok! You know what I just remembered something." Star gave a nervous grin as she clapped her hands together. "I have this…thing! Important…school…project thing! Yeah! With, uh…Janna and I really got to get to it! So how about I show you my magic now and then I can be on my way!"
"…" All of the goths were silent as they looked amongst themselves before looking at Star, Persephone speaking up. "But…Janna's over there."
"Huh?" Star rose a brow as he turned to the direction Persephone was pointing at. Star's eyes widened as she saw none other than Janna sitting next to a tombstone holding her phone with a thing of popcorn and a soda right to her. "What the heck? Janna?"
"Sup," Janna waved without looking up from her phone.
"What are doing here?" Star asked with a confused tone. Janna always seems to pop up in the…strangest places. "Are you, um, part of the club too?"
"Nah, poetry ain't my thing." Janna answered causally before looking at the tombstone next to her. "I'm just hanging out with good ole Craig Ashton here,"
"So…you're just in the graveyard for the heck of it?" Star asked slowly.
"Yep," Janna nodded as she took a drink from her soda.
"…Creepy." Star then looked back and saw all of the Morticians club all starring at her. Star sweated nervously for a second before smiling awkwardly. "So who wants to see some magic right now?"
Although they didn't finish their poetry quite yet, they were all eager to see Star show off her magic. Well…as eager as goths could appear. "Very well then," Lucy nodded as she could tell something was going on with Star since they first started and was eager to get this over with. So Lucy allowed Star to go through with this, once she showed off her magic she could go home and get some rest. "Show us what you got Star."
"Oh you better believe I will," Star grinned as she took out her wand and twirled it around a bit. "Alright people get ready to have your morbid little minds blown!" Star then aimed her wand at a nearby by and got ready to fire. "Here's a classic for all ya! Narwal Blast!" Star's wand then glowed as she fired a few narwals out of her wand at the tree, all of them sticking onto it by their horns. "So how'd you like that biz?"
"…" The goths were all silent as they gave Star some bored looks.
"Um…ok…" Star's smile faltered at their unimpressed stares. Ok so not narwal fans, but she's got plenty of spells. "Well how about this one then! Cupcake blast!" Star then fired a beam out of her wand that had cupcakes inside it that ended up scattering all over the grave yard. "Huh? Huh?"
But once again she was meant with unimpressed stares. Thought everyone did miss as Boris picked up a cupcake and stashed it in his pocket. "Ok…not cupcakes fans either…" Star gulped a bit the Morticians club continued to be unimpressed with her magic. "Alright let's do some real magic then!"
"Bacon Kitty Hawaiian Nightmare."
"Blueberry Cupcake Bazooka."
"Bunny Rabbit Blast!"
"Dagger Crystal Heart Attack!"
"Glowworm blast!"
"Kitten Bomb!"
And so Star let out a barrage of spells to show off, pulling out everything she had. When she was done remnants of her spells were scattered around the area. Star was breathing heavily by the end of it and was looking at the goth kids expectingly. "So…what…did you…all think?" Star asked in between breaths.
"…So…is that it?" Haiku asked with a raised brow. "So is all your magic just rainbows and puppies and sunshine stuff?"
"Well…yeah…kinda," Star just shrugged in response to that. "That's kinda my thing."
With the exception of Lucy all the goths said in unison. "Well that's disappointing,"
"H-Huh…" Star stuttered out in response.
"Hey give her a break," Lucy tried to reason with her club but they didn't seem to listen.
"I was expecting some dark arts,"
"All this sunshine magic is bad for my soul,"
"This isn't real magic."
"I wanted to see something mystic, no sugary sweet."
As Star listened to all of the Morticians club complain about her spells, Star started to grit her teeth. Her body started to flicker purple as her wand's crystal started to glow green. And then suddenly something snapped within her. "SHUT UP!" Suddenly a burst of purple energy released from Star as she entered her purple state. She glared at all the goths as her wand started pulsing with eerie green energy. "I didn't show up just so you could all criticize my spells!" All the Morticians club flinched at Star's words and were a bit afraid at the moment. They could feel the energy coming off Star. Moving faster then any of them could see, Star suddenly went off the stage only to return with the spell book. "You want some real magic then FINE!"
"Woah, goth drama," Janna commented with a smirk before aiming her phone at the Morticians club and began recording what was happening. "This is gonna be good."
LUDO
Back with the kappa monster and his animal companions, they were on their way back to the rat bar. It was time for revenge. Ludo was covered in bruises and scraps but he was more then ready to show those rats who was really in charge. Ludo narrowed his eyes at the entrance to the bar, but held his arm out as Bird and Spider approached from behind. "No girls," He ordered firmly, making them step back. "It's gonna get ugly."
Ludo then kicked open the door to the bar, making all the rats stop what they doing and stare at him. Some of them glared at the kappa and wondered what he was doing back, hadn't he learned his lesson last time? Ludo ignored the looks and walked up to the counter where the red eyed rat was still serving other rats. Ludo proceeded to kick a rat off his stool and push another two away before sitting down. "A bowl of your finest mud please!" Ludo asked with a big grin. The red eyed rat went from glaring at Ludo to giving him a confused look, especially after the kappa picked up some silver ware and tied a napkin around his neck. "Mmmmm, I can taste it already!"
The red eyed rat simply stared at Ludo for a second before snapping his finger. Another bowl of mud was sent in front of Ludo filled with more disgusting stuff. "Bottoms up!" But Ludo did seem to care as he picked up the bowl and stared dumping its contents into his mouth, getting it all over his face too. The red eyed rat looked disturbed at the scene and the other rats watching had similar reactions with some looking close to getting sick.
"Aah," Ludo let out a satisfied sigh as he finished off the bowl of mud. Ludo then started to wipe his muddy face with the napkin before tossing it to the side. "All done!" And before any of the rats could react Ludo socked the red eyed rat right in the face. All of the rats let out surprised squeaks before getting up and glaring at Ludo, getting ready to kick the kappa's butt again. But Ludo simply smirked and glared back as he stood up on the bar counter while holding his wand up. "Do your worst!"
BACK ON EARTH
"Star I'm sorry for what my friends said," Lucy said to the still glowing purple princess as she flipped through the pages of her spell book. If the Morticians wanted true magic, then Star was gonna show them a spell they would never forget it. "You don't have anything to prove to them, you should just head home. I'm sorry for bringing you out here,"
"No." Star said simply firmly, making Lucy flinch. "If they want magic so bad then they're going to get it." After a few moments Star stopped on a page that had a spell that would be perfect in pleasing these goth kids. Raise the dead. Taking a deep breath, Star got into position. "Spirits of Earth's core, from this moment you will sleep no more! Fly out from where you head doth rest, and wake up from your deadly nest. Travel onwards into the light, and give the wanderers a fright!"
Star's wand glowed brightly and a wave of green energy was shot out throughout the graveyard. Everything was eerily quiet as everyone looked around to see what happened. "So…what did you do?" Haiku asked cautiously as she looked around.
Rumble!
"Do you all feel that as well?" Boris asked as he and everyone else felt the ground shaking.
And in front of everyone's eyes, they witnessed as a hand shot out from a nearby grave. "AH!" Nearly everyone let out in fright as they witnessed none other then a zombie emerged from the grave. It was heavily decayed, which is to be expected, it was missing it's left hand and there was only a few clumps of hair was on its head. "A-A-A-A Zombie!" Dante yelled with widened eyes.
"Woah wicked!" Janna grinned and aimed her camera at the zombie.
"There? Happy now?!" Star angrily asked the Morticians club as she gestured to the zombie, which was slowly started to approach them. "That real enough for you!?"
"Um, Star," Lucy pointed to the zombie as it got closer and closer. "Should we be worried about that?"
"What? Him?" Star asked as she pointed a thumb to the zombie. "Relax Lucy it's one zombie I'm pretty sure I can handle it no prob-"
RUMBLE!
But Star was cut off as the ground started shaking even more…and more zombies started emerging from the various graves. Many, many, many graves. "Oh boy…"
"…RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!" Persephone yelled as, with the exception of Star, Lucy, and Janna, ran away as fast as they could from the incoming zombie hoard.
LUDO
Things weren't looking to good for Ludo right now. Every single rat in the bar was out for his blood. Ludo punched a few rats back but there was five more to punch and kick right back. Bird and Spider saw this and attempted to run inside to help him, only for Ludo to send a look their way. "No girls," The kappa told them in between breaths. "I'm fine." Ludo then jumped out of the way of the rats before pounding his chest. "Come on, hit me like you mean it!"
One of the rats happily obliged as one of them picked up a mop and hit Ludo in the face with it and sent him to the wall. "Now you're really starting to tick me off…" Ludo growled as a dozen rats all jumped Ludo and started to bombard him with punches. Ludo gritted his beak in pain…but it all became worth it when the wand started glowing green. When this happened Ludo looked to his animal companions and said one thing…
"Run."
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
BACK ON EARTH
"Quick! In here!" Star shouted as she, Janna and Lucy carried the magic book of spells into an old house as the hoard of zombies slowly chased them. "Ok hopefully we should be safe in here, at least they're slow."
"I know I'm usually a fan of the undead, but not like this," Lucy said as she locked the door to add to their defense. Better then nothing after all. "I wanna become a vampire, not a zombie,"
"Speak for yourself sister," Janna said with no trace of fear in her voice. "I kinda wanna know what its like, probably feels weird."
"Um, what are you two talking about?" Star asked with a raised brow. "How would you turn into zombies?"
"Um, when they bite you, you turn into one," Janna told Star like it was the most obvious thing in the world and to be fair it kinda was. "That's like, horror movie 101 Star,"
"Wait you seriously believe in that? That's a myth." Star informed the two, making their eyes widened. "Zombie bites are harmless, it's like getting bite by an old person with broken dentures."
"Ew, seriously?" Janna asked before lowering her head with a bummed out look. "Well, everything I know is a lie."
"So we'll be just fine," Star reassured them…before a zombies hand broke through the wall and started flailing around looking for something to grab. "Ah! Kill it! Kill it!" Star yelled as she beat the arm with her wand a few times, making it break off after a few hits. "Alright! No more playing around!" Star then opened the window of the house and aimed her wand at the zombies and began shooting out green blast of energy at the zombies. Though the blast knocked them down they quickly got back up with their eyes now glowing green, not only that but it seemed like every time Star hit them, they got slightly faster.
"Um, Star that isn't working," Lucy informed the princess as she only continued to shoot the zombies. "In fact I'm pretty sure you're making them stronger. I think somethings wrong with your magic."
"My. Magic. Is. Fine!" Star yelled as she only continued to fire at the zombies. She only came to a stop as she felt something in her pocket vibrating. Reaching into it, she pulled out her compact phone and winced as she saw it was Lincoln calling her. Hesitantly she answered it and held it up to her ear. "Heeeeeey Linky, what's up?"
"Zombies star?!" Lincoln immediately yelled, making the princess freeze. "Seriously?!"
"…How did you find out?" Star asked with a nervous sweat drop.
"Janna's live streaming it!" Lincoln informed her. "I'm seeing the whole thing!"
"Wait what?" Star immediately looked to Janna and saw she was aiming her phone at everything outside. "Janna really?!"
"What?" Janna shrugged innocently. "You start up a zombie apocalypse and you expert me not to record it? Get with the times girl."
"Star, what was the one thing I asked you not to do?" Lincoln asked with an exasperated tone.
"Raise the dead," Star said shamefully.
"And what did you do?"
"Raise the dead…" Star lowered her head and sat down.
"Look just…tell me no ones hurt so far?" Lincoln seemed to have calmed down and spoke with a worried tone. "No ones turned into a zombie right?"
"No Lincoln's that's no a thing. Zombies can't turn other people into zombies," Star answered with the roll of her eyes. How many people actually believed that myth? "Don't believe everything you see on TV and movies,"
"Huh, wow…ok that's good to hear," Lincoln took a second to process that before speaking up again. "Ok look just stay where you are and I'll be as soon as I can. Pretty sure zombies aren't big fans of fire so I should be able to clean house."
"Alright, sounds good. See ya soon…" Star let out a sigh as she hung up on Lincoln. Putting her phone on the ground Star curled herself into a ball. "Guess I messed things up again…good going Star…"
"…Hey Star, what's been up with you today?" Lucy asked in a gentle tone as she sat down next to Star. "You've been acting strange ever since we got here. What's up?"
"….I don't know…" Star looked away a bit.
"She's gotta mommy issues." Janna said bluntly making Star's eyes widened as both her and Lucy looked at the girl. "You guys start making poems about how great your moms are, Star gets upset and raises the dead, seems obvious to me. Plus I heard her rant about her mom a few times when she's alone."
"What?!" Star let out in shock. "How do you know that?!"
"I planted a few tiny microphones in your guy's home." Janna informed them with a smirk on her face.
"…You bugged my house?" Lucy asked as both her and Star stared at Janna in shock.
"Sure did." Janna had no shame in admitting it.
"…She's right…" Star admitted as she buried her face in her knees. "I guess I just got…jealous. Those guys were reading poems about how great their moms were and my mom was…my mom. She was always strict, nonsense, and demanding. Can't even remembered if we had any sort of fun together."
"…I'm sorry to hear that," Lucy heard a few things about Star's issues with her mother, but nothing much since she didn't really get involved in things like Lincoln did. Despite her being…herself she knew she could count on her mom always being there for her and supporting her. "I know things can be rough with your mom…but you don't have to worry about her right now,"
"Huh?" Star questioned as she looked at Lucy.
"You got Lincoln, Jackie, and Janna too I guess," Lucy listed off, Janna giving a small wave when her name was said. "And you also have me…and the rest of my family. You got all of us. And maybe when this is over you and me can do something together, just the two of us."
"…I'd like that actually," Star smiled gratefully at Lucy and finally Star stopped glowing purple. But before she could do more then heard banging on the walls as well as the moaning of the zombies that were all closing in on the house. "Buuuut we should probably take care of that first."
"Well what about the book?" Janna asked as she opened it up and started skimming through the pages. "Isn't there some…anti-raise the dead spell or something?"
"Maybe, let me check," Star then flipped to the page where the raising the dead spell was and looked over it again to see if there was anything about a reversal spell…and promptly face palmed in response. "Oh Mewni I'm so dumb…"
"What? Did you find something?" Lucy asked as she looked at the page.
"I didn't read the whole spell!" Star yelled as she pointed to another sentence that was part of the spell. It was just written very smally. "Dang it grandma Skywynne why is your handwriting so tiny!?"
"That combined with your messed up magic must have made the zombies go nuts," Janna said as she read the page that had the spell on it. It included info on zombies, including how their bites don't turn people. "Says here that zombies are actually pretty chill and enjoy being resurrected. Well that's lame."
CRASH!
"Graaaa…." A zombie groaned as it broke through the window and was making its way inside with a bunch of other zombies behind it.
"Ok no time to waste let's try this out!" Star yelled as she held onto her wand tightly and looked down at the spell. Taking a deep breath to make sure she was calm, Star aimed her wand at all the zombies and recited the spell. "Spirits of Earth's core, from this moment you will sleep no more! Fly out from where you head doth rest, and wake up from your deadly nest. Travel onwards into the light, and give the wanderers a fright. When you have had your fun, return so little harm is done!"
When Star finished a wave of energy was released from her wand. As soon as the magic hit the zombies they all froze in place. The ones who were affected by the strange green magic from Star's wand had that strange magic removed from them as their eyes stopped glowing. "So…did it work?" Lucy asked cautiously as the three girls stared at the zombies.
After a moment, the zombies all started moving again. But instead of acting vicious they acted more confused. Look around and wondering what was going on.
"Didn't I die?"
"It's so bright out!"
"My backs killing me…"
"Where'd my hand go?"
"Forget your hand where are my legs!?"
"Yo, zombies!" All the zombies shut up and looked to Star as she called out to them. Star awkwardly looked around a bit before pointing her wand towards the graveyard. "Look I'm sorry for waking you up but I'm gonna need you to go back to your graves ok? Just go back to sleep and rest in peace!"
"…Yeah ok," One of the zombies shrugged as he turned around and went towards the graveyard with the others soon following.
"Huh…well that was easy," Star let out sigh as she laid down on the floor and smiled in relief. "Glad that's finally over."
"Yeah…so you guys wanna go see that new zombie movie that came out?" Janna asked Lucy and Star, only to receive blank looks and glares at them. "What? To soon?"
Back at the rat bar, the whole place was in shambles. Tables and chairs were broken, burn marks were all over the floor, walls, and ceiling, and unconscious rats were scattered throughout. The red eyed rat groaned and woke up to see all this…as well as Ludo glaring right at him. "Now…" Ludo growled out as he aimed his wand right at the rat's face. "You will serve me some porridge."
STONE AGE BAR
SLAM!
Hekapoo gritted her teeth as she slammed her fist against the bar counter, her tears dripping on them. "God dammit…God dammit…" Hekapoo cursed as she held her face with her other hand. "How didn't I notice…"
"Probably cause you didn't give a damn," Gravel said as he glared at Hekapoo while cleaning a glass. The two spent pretty much the whole day talking about Festivia, specifically Gravel telling Hekapoo about all the emotional trouble that young girl face. Though calling it emotional trouble was an understatement. "To put it bluntly you weren't one for caring about other peoples feelings, even the people you claimed to care about it."
"…..You're right…." Hekapoo knew it was true. It was only recently that she started to actually understand emotional junk and even still she wasn't the best at it. "I'm the worst aunt ever…"
"Not gonna argue with you there. And there's one more thing I should tell ya," Gravel lowered his head. He hated remembering this, but Hekapoo should know. "I'm not sure when this was, before that damn nightmare party she threw…she tried to sneak Yada Yada berries into her drink. Caught her just in time."
"Yada Yada berries?" Hekapoo gasped out. Those berries were illegal in all sorts of dimensions. When eaten they turn one to stone. "Why…Why would she put them in her drink."
Gravel simple glared, but it held a lot of emotion into it. "Take a guess."
"….." Hekapoo was silent at first…but she put the pieces together. Her heart nearly stopped at the thought. "…..Oh…."
"Yeah…." A single tear came out of Gravel's eye as he closed them solemnly. "Thankfully though…she seemed to have found someone that helped her out." Hekapoo rose her head in interest at this. "It was the last time she ever came here. Told me she wanted one last drink with me before she tried to stop. It was after her five-year party. She told me how a boy suddenly appeared one day and lent her a hand, even gave her his jacket. Wasn't sure it was her color but it made her happy. God bless whoever finally was able to give that girl the help she needed."
"Yeah…glad she got it," Hekapoo let out a sigh as she rubbed her eyes and got off the bar. "Thank you…for telling me everything. I won't bother you again."
"Good." Gravel nodded as he watched Hekapoo leave. As soon as she was gone, Gravel reached into his pocket and took out his wallet, opened it up he reached inside and took out a picture he took for the 10th anniversary of his bar all those years ago. And in that picture right next to him was Festivia the Fun herself. "Hope your resting peacefully Festivia."
And boom!
