Jaune's first official tournament match and the system of aura and semblance in my fic are explained.
Also, time skipped since, well there is no point in showing a training montage, however, I will explain what and how Jaune would be training.
Finally, as for how Jaune's body would look, Yoma Hashimoto, from the spin-off of Jojo Bizzare's adventures: one-shot Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan - Episode 9: The Run
[Part-1]
9th June, Monday- RX21, 06:25
{Buckingham Palace, backyard}
"Well, I am here, didn't expect you to be here as well."
"You should know, I am the one that would be showing you around."
Early morning, in the backyard of the palace- Jaune met Artoria, his first day of the punishment begins today. Well, it's a "punishment" in quotes, very tame in comparison, to what could have been worse case scenarios. Jaune would be lying if he said he wasn't happy with the deal.
"Also, you know how many people you would be cooking for right?"
Glancing around the majestic palace, Jaune answered absent-mindedly, "Four."
"Usually, it would have been four, but from now on you have to make six. For a few days."
"Seven? Who else joined?"
"Well, my father is the middle one, who joined us are- Uncle Oberon and Aunt Morgana, with well, Jah'Rakal, he is aunt Morgana's bodyguard, he is the one that has been with her from the start."
"I don't mean to poke Artoria, but sounds like a bit of a family feud to me."
"Are you the Steve Harvey in this equation, or am I?"
Heh, someone gets the joke, spending time with Artoria is proving to be really good for Jaune's health as well.
"It's just…all I know is, Aunt Morgana, the oldest should have been the heir to the Throne of Camelot, but in Grandfather's dying breath he gave the Throne to my father, and riches to be divided equally among his children. Uncle Oberon was happy with anything, he got, he is a scientist kind of guy. Enjoys research on Grimm, but Aunt Morgana was very angry. Even if everything was good or they showed that everything was fine, I could tell that there was a hatchet in between their relationship."
"Are you sure, you should tell me all this?"
"It's okay, I trust you Jaune," the beaming smile once again forces Jaune Arc to turn around and blush. God really did give women a dangerous weapon.
"I mean, if I was a father, I would treat all children of mine equally," There was a sudden pain in Jaune's head- a memory recalled but at the very instant soon forgotten. He continued, "I am sorry, that was insensitive of me."
Artoria shook her head, "Don't be, it's just the first Pendragon had the [Semblance]- [Luxieum], all the Pendragons after him, they all did have the same [Semblance], it became a staple that only those with the [Semblance], [Luxieum] will be allowed upon the throne, sadly- Aunt Morgana and Uncle Oberon, had different [Semblance]s, they didn't have [Luxieum]."
"I am sorry Artoria, I don't follow…[Luxieum]?"
"Yes, our hereditary [Semblance], the ability to transmute and manipulate properties of light. It represents our will to fight against the darkness."
"I don't think it's fair, just because someone has a different [Semblance]. I don't have one yet, so maybe I cannot relate, but what I can, is not giving the opportunity, your aunt could have been a great Queen, who knows?"
"Heh. Optimistic, are you? I like that about you, but sadly that's not the case- A [Semblance] also shows the deeper and darkest parts of our soul, those who carry the light- must shoulder the darkness as well- I accepted it, my father did, grandfather did- it shows our will to protect the kingdom. Aunt didn't have that, somewhere in her heart, perhaps there was hate and malice- even if she is changed, who knows, I don't hate her though. No one does, it's just, I think she is still angry from that time."
Jaune didn't reply to it, he simply followed her.
The Royal Kitchen. Those are in capital letters if you didn't notice- all the advanced cookware, the clean space, the groceries- oh, daddy is going to have so much fun.
Yeah, but every chef was also glaring at him as if killed a thousand puppies.
No, he took their job for the morning, it was understandable. The Royal Chefs, do make a lot of money. He could feel them saying Let's see how this punk does a better job.
"Ah, big sister Artoria, also hero!"
"Hero?" Before Jaune could even understand what occurred a little ball of energy dashed and hugged him, Jaune for all instances and purposes is a tall fellow, and he is still at a growing age- the little boy reached till his waist.
This boy, two nights ago- well one, but counting the rest day. The boy and the queen that he saved. Well, saving was what was said by others, to Jaune he just tanked an attack…that's all, he still doesn't think that he should be praised for that. He did what any other soldier of Camelot would have done. He wasn't unique in the case.
And yet he didn't have the heart or strength to swat the little boy away.
Artoria ruffled the little boy's head, "He's my little brother, Aiden Pendragon…come on now little buddy, he's here to cook…"
"No! No! I want to stay with hero a little longer, please big sis!"
"I…" Artoria was speechless, Jaune smiled as an indication that he would take care of the boy, and Artoria nodded in appreciation.
"Come on little guy, I'll show you I am the hero of the kitchen as well!"
"Let's go!"
Artoria smiled as she saw Aiden playing and smiling with someone else- for the past year, Aiden was always quiet, never talked that much, played- even conversed. Sometimes, Artoria believes that might have been because of her- when her big brother passed away two years ago, she was distraught for the longest period. It was only recently her mood was lifted, and it got better after meeting Jaune.
-Again, since the day she had met him, in her free time all she could do was think about him and after he cooked for her- mind you Lady Artoria is a very picky eater, it was just…
No, don't go there.
"Thinking about the guy of your dreams."
Artoria was on her way to the throne room, to meet her father, uncle, and aunt- but Merlin greeted her in the hallway.
"What? Angry?"
"Where are you going with this Merlin?"
A dark smirk appeared on her face as she stood beside Artoria, "I always told everyone- I am true neutral, I like bullying both friends and enemies alike."
"What? So, I am your target now?"
"Oh~ no dear, I would never do that to you, now will I? But it is sad right? How would little Jaune feel? How would he feel that Artoria Pendragon, where might be a little bubbling crush- but it isn't is it?"
It was as if the darkness of Merlin's smile increased tenfold, "Little Artoria, who loved her older brother…who really loved her older brother in a way not a little sister does, but rather a woman. Now with him gone~ you are seeing Mordred in Jaune, how would Jaune feel, when he realizes that the one, he considers his friend, a close one perhaps…is together with him solely because he looks, acts, cooks, and cares just like Artoria Pendragon's deceased older brother- the only man she ever loved and will ever love. Ah~ I can only imagine the heartbroken face he would make. The face of untold betrayal."
That should have been the end and Merlin walking away merrily, but instead, Artoria held, no that would have been lenient…Artoria gripped her hand in vice, almost as if she was trying to break it.
Whitish-gold, her eyes glowed as she glared at Merlin, "I am not some other slut you take me for. You thought you would bite and won't expect a retaliation, lest from me? I don't fucking care if you are a Maiden or whatever, but if you are trying to put a wedge between Jaune and me because of some superficial bullshit you spill, I will make you suffer a fate worse than death."
Merlin kept her smile, "We'll see about that," turning around, as she used her [Semblance] to leave she spoke, almost in a mocking manner as if to say that Artoria didn't win the argument, "We hurt the ones we care about the most. You didn't say no, that means I am correct. Don't get too attached princess, or else you would end up hurting each other. Later~"
A Fuck you Merlin was muttered under Artoria's breath, she wasn't the one to cuss, but Merlin always did bring the worst outside of everyone, not just her. Shit. Her mood has gotten worse. Her gaze lingered towards the end of the hall- was she using Jaune for her own gain? No…she does not do that…then what does Jaune mean to her? Is he a friend? Yes, definitely. Artoria didn't have friends…correction, Artoria never had friends due to her upbringing, the one who took care of her and made sure that she was never lonely was her older brother, Mordred.
Artoria shook her head, if she falls any deep into this thought, she would lose her mind and her sleep, it would be better to leave.
Yet, she couldn't defy what Merlin said as the words started to plague her mind.
The chefs were well trained, and schooled and were chosen as the best of the best all over the world as part of the Royal Family's kitchen.
Imagine the feeling you would get when a seventeen-year-old is capable of doing the cooking for a whole damned royal family, and their additional members and on top of that- he was cooking for all the chefs and butlers as well.
What should have been jealousy and hate against a kid for taking their jobs, turned out to be one of the best meals they ever had.
And Aiden wanted part of it.
"Please big bro, let me have some…I can taste the smell, please!"
The puppy eyes, well Jaune Arc would have faltered, but after his time at Beacon and enduring Ruby's puppy eyes, he is now in control of his emotion, he is like Lie Ren.
That didn't mean that kid was not adorable because he definitely was.
"Now, now young man, you have to eat with everyone, I can't give you special treatment, however, how about this…you get to have the first taste of dessert, how about that?"
Aiden's eye shone, "You promise?"
"I'm an Arc, I don't go back from my word." Jaune's hand didn't stop which amazed Aiden and not just him, but the chefs as well, he was keeping the count of everything, the timing of the meat, when the spices should be and the strange action which could only be seen by Aiden, Jaune's hands were glowing.
"I have a question, big bro."
"Shoot."
"You have to cook for six, right?"
"Yes."
"Me, Mum, Dad, bis sis, aunt, and uncle. Correct?"
"Indeed."
"Then…why is there so much, food?"
"I am cooking for everyone."
"Everyone?"
"Everyone!"
"You could have done a better job, if I was here, I would have killed that guy and showed the dominance I have over Camelot, you need to act like a true king Gabriel, I'm starting to think that you aren't fir for the job."
"Now, now…Hazel is a strong guy, one of the strongest and you know about that Morgana, even you couldn't have beaten the guy."
"Shut the hell up Oberon, what do you know? I am not the same person I was that time, I can and could have defeated Hazel if I had the throne."
"Whatever you say."
Family, can't live with them and can't live without them. The dining room should always be peaceful, should talk about how was one's day or how is it going to be, and the best place for family bonding.
Gabriel Pendragon would have loved to enjoy such family bonding time, the fault is, he can't with annoying siblings around. The girl, whom Gabriel wanted to call her behavior that of a teen girl, had long flowing blonde hair like Gabriel, the only difference was hers was much more the shade of silver. Hair tied with a white ribbon and a long black dress, which exposed her abdomen and her navel. To compliment her appearance, she had a black crown. Unlike Gabriel who had sea foam green eyes, she had navy blue. Morgana Pendragon, the eldest of the Pendragon family heir.
Right next to her, was a man, the youngest perhaps of them all. Blondish-gray hair came towards his shoulders, unlike Morgana and Gabriel who had long ones. He wore a frilly white outfit, which almost looked as if something a girl would wear, a fur white coat, which had the appearance of a moth's wings. The youngest of them all, Oberon Pendragon.
Lastly, at the end of the room, a man stood slouching- even at that position, he was more than six feet tall. He didn't wear a shirt, or anything for the top just a small fur coat, and traditional tribal trousers. Gray eyes, and blue mohawk cut hair. What was interesting was, that his body didn't have any form of body fat, none at all…he wasn't on the buff side, rather shredded and lean and every muscle in his body could be clearly seen, even without him flexing, abs, obliques, forearms, biceps, triceps, shoulders and traps- even his quads and calves were visible through those trousers.
On each side of his belt, he held two axes, a small handle but a large blade. The man held a stoic expression and was here solely because of his lady, Morgana. The bodyguard, whose name is Jah'Rakal.
Gabriel eyed the guy, even being present in the room, he is not present- Jah'Rakal is hiding and merging his aura so well, that Gabriel can see him, and yet can't sense him, to cause someone of Gabriel level confusion, Jah'Rakal is not one to be toyed with.
Gabriel could see Jah'Rakal eyeing him up, even if his expression was stoic. The king had to admit, that the guy that Moraga hired to be her bodyguard, is no joke and is actually quite strong. Then again, his sister had a knack for finding strong warriors.
In the arrival of his siblings, Gabriel forgot to ask the real questions, "So, why are you here?"
Morgana replied, in a tone that clearly stated that she was offended, "Why? The last time I saw you, my hometown is Camelot and I live here in Buckingham Palace, so little brother…do I need to have a reason to visit home?"
"No, it's just that, you don't do that often, I almost forget what you and Oberon even look like."
"We have family a family picture."
"Hard to look at with dad being in there."
Morgana glared, "And yet you keep that man around after what he did? This is the reason I will always be judgmental of your rise, if I had taken the throne- that traitor Lancelot would have been hanged, humiliated, and posed as a reminder to everyone- what a failure of a man looks like."
"We are not talking about this, the situation has been settled, when I was ten. I don't think we need to dig this any longer."
"No!" rage-filled Morgana spat back, "Do you want to know, why I didn't want to come back? This is the reason. You are letting someone reside, who was the reason our father died. A reason our family went to shambles, hell, he destroyed his own family, his wife committed suicide, his daughter, let me remind you of her? Glynda ran away because of what he did and- "
"Enough!" Gabriel bellowed, Venelana and Artoria who were beside him, shook as well, "I said, Morgana, let it go. What happen, happened. It was in the past and Lancelot has already suffered punishment for it. There is no need to antagonize anyone anymore."
"You insufferable- ", before Morgana could finish, Oberon held her hand, "Let it go. We are here to relax; I understand your anger…but it isn't healthy. I can feel your anger and everyone else's uncomfortableness in this room, I dislike that, it is making me feel agitated. Please, let's just drop this for now, it's breakfast."
Morgana grumbled but agreed anyway.
"Easy now lapdog, I am not going to kill my sister," Gabriel spoke mockingly, Jah'Rakal heard him as he removed his hand from the axe.
"You bodyguard was prepared to cut off the arm of the king, quite devoted to you Morgana."
Morgana did her best to hide her blush, her pale skin didn't help in that instance however, "Yeah, well…he…he's the man, I trust my life with, the only man in my life I trust."
"Okay, sister I am hurt you would say that with me sitting just beside you."
"You know Oberon, the woman's an ass, the sole reason, the other kingdoms or countries aren't pressing charges against us, is because you go with her. Forgive me for picturing dire scenes my big sister may cause every time." Gabriel made the snarky remark knowing that it would get his sister and it did, her eyebrows were twitching and her glare at full go.
"Where is the runt? You know, Mordred 2.0 at least he is pleasant to look at."
If the atmosphere changed no one mentioned it instantly, the one who perked up her head and finally decided to talk was Venelana, the wife of the King, "I respect you Miss Morgana and I loved Mordred just like my own son, but please do not compare him to Aiden. Both the boys are different."
There was a lingering question, that perhaps needed to be answered, the very thing that was killing the space they lived in. However, before anything could escalate any further the doors to the dining room swung open-
A large supporting rolling table was being pushed by Jaune Arc, over his shoulders was Aiden sitting, smiling as if was enjoying every moment of whatever both of them were doing.
Now, the royal family saw both of them entering, it almost looked as if siblings entered.
"Breakfast is done!" they both said in unison.

9th June, Monday- RX21, 07:00
{Buckingham Palace, Dining Hall}
Aiden was all smiles as he sat down, right beside his mother. Even with uncles and aunts present, all his focus was on Jaune and him only, Artoria was surprised that Aiden straight up ignored everyone and it was as if he was enjoying this solely because Jaune was there.
Hell, Aiden even ignored her, Aiden never ignores her it was as if the little time her little brother spent with Jaune and now he has a new favorite person.
"So, is this the hero, you've been eating my ear about since last night…can't see what's special though? He got nice blue eyes, that's about it…unless there is something else to add."
If Jaune was offended or sad by the remark he didn't show it, he kept the nice smile there was as he entered, placing the dishes.
"So, why is he doing this again? Cooking, I mean? I am going to throw the food in his face if it didn't meet my criteria."
"You do that, I'll make sure my lace pincers your fat gut, you might be my father's sister, doesn't mean I have to tolerate you."
Morgana had a glare and a smirk as she gave Artoria the expression that clearly said Say that again, you little runt, and see what I do.
"Your glare doesn't scare me Aunty (pronounced as Old Hag in Morgana's mind), do that to someone else, as for why Jaune is here, due to stupid actions were taken by father," Cue Gabriel's surprised reaction, "And please, be grateful to what he cooks, it's the best you would ever get around, if you don't like, you entered the palace, you know where the exit is."
All right, snide remark to her father aside, Gabriel could get behind how her daughter replied back, maybe to others it might sound like bad manners and that she wasn't raised well. But, to Gabriel, every person must be held accountable for their actions, regardless of their age, gender, or race as such when Morgana berated Jaune without knowing and well, Artoria as his friend stood up for her, actions have consequences.
Also, Gabriel enjoyed seeing his older sister brought down by his daughter and it was fun.
The aroma hit, and it hit hard. Jaune Arc wasn't playing around, he would let his cooking do the talking. And it would do, it was the first time Jaune was cooking in the palace, cooking in such a high place, so just for today, he decided to go all out and heavy as well.
"Lamb rack with sweet potato mash and pistachio puree, heavy for the morning, yes? But, new for breakfast. Followed by Mistralian lemon rice and glazed carrots and finally spinach salad with apples, walnuts, and feta. Do enjoy."
Do enjoy? Artoria didn't need to be told twice, hell not even the first time, she dug in, manners as a princess? Long forgotten as everyone at the table except Aiden, was surprised to see the way she ate, "If none of you would eat, that's fine… actually that's better, more for me," Artoria Pendragon did not hesitate, food is the source of life. Food is the source of love. Food is the reason people live and Food is the reason people die. It's all that matters. Working relationship? Financial stability? Success in life? Who needs that, when you got Food!
(This is Artoria's inner thought high on food, do not believe her, please work on your relationship, properly work and rest and try to make the best of and enjoy life. If you fail, do not blame the author.)
True to what Artoria said, it was damned good Morgana wanted to spit it out, make fun, say it's bad…but, she…she just can't because she is enjoying it, she is actually enjoying it and it's the best she ever had.
Oberon was merry and praising, even the Queen, Aiden perhaps wanted to write songs about it as good it was. Loath as it may be, Gabriel had to admit, this was indeed the best he had, and now that he thinks about it, it was after meeting this Jaune wasn't it that his daughter refused to eat anything made by the Royal Chefs, it explains why she 'needed' reasons to run off during breakfast and lunch.
And perhaps Aiden realized this as well, the little boy is glaring at Artoria while stuffing himself with lamb, the little guy did try to look the part of intimidating, he wasn't really…just a cute little boy puffing his cheeks. For the given age Aiden is quite smart and keeping something like this from him, would definitely make him upset. Not mad, the little boy could never get mad at his family.
Jah'Rakal could see his lady, Morgana eating the food and her words, he could see why the aroma came even towards the end of the room.
"Here, this is for you."
The blonde boy, Jaune, passed him the same set of dishes he gave to the Royal family.
"I am a servant, I can't and don't eat what my masters eat."
"I am a chef, Royalty and Poverty are the same in my eyes, regardless of status, everyone should enjoy the food," Jaune smiled as he passed him the tray, and then it appeared to be him leaving.
"Wait! Big bro, you did say I get to taste the dessert first!"
"Yeah, I know, come on."
"Yes!"
Jah'Rakal could see Aiden running and directly jumping on Jaune's back, the latter caught him, they really did look like siblings even if they weren't related and he could see they were the center of attention.
Jah'Rakal gave a whiff, this food was well made.
"Have the meal," Jah'Rakal looked up, while Morgana wasn't directly staring at him, she did repeat herself, "I don't want a hungry servant around."
Jah'Rakal smiled, for all her rage and anger, Morgana does care about the people near her, she should have been the ruler of Camelot. She would have done better. She still can do a better job than Gabriel.
Aiden was sitting on the cooking table, not at, not that Jaune minded…the little boy received a different dessert than others, the chocolate lava cake, with the vanilla cream mix a little, it was truly delicious, he would also receive the one Jaune is making for everyone else.
And when he means everyone else, everyone else, the butlers and the chefs, all of them have enjoyed Jaune's cooking, there were a lot of lambs though.
"I wish you were my real big bro," it slipped through Aiden's tongue, he didn't mean to say that, he just wanted to thank Jaune, for what he did that night and for the amazing food.
Instead of being made fun of or even belittling the little Aiden, Jaune simply patted his head, "Well I can't compare to your sister little guy, but I too would have been glad to have a little brother like you, fresh change after a set of seven sisters, you know."
Aiden widens his eyes, "Seven? That's a lot of siblings…I mean, I don't think I'm even a real sibling to big sis Artoria."
Jaune looked a bit surprised but he didn't let it overwhelm him, he kept a smile after all the chefs had left the place, and only Aiden and he were there, "Why is that?"
"I am born from father's second wife, his first wife, Igraine Pendragon died giving birth to big sis Artoria, father had two children from the first wife and one from his second, which is me."
"Two children…?"
"Yes, eldest of us all, Mordred Pendragon, big brother was the paragon of Light and he was supposed to be the heir to the throne, after a Grimm war gone wrong, he sacrificed himself so his army and big sis Artoria would live. Then, big sis is to be the crown princess, the Queen…I always feel so inadequate, what if I fail? What if I don't want to be a prince? What if I have a different [Semblance] and not the one that our family has?" Aiden didn't know why he started this conversation, what was the little boy's motivation behind it? Who knows?
Jaune on the other hand could understand what the boy must be feeling, the feeling of inadequacy having an exponential sister, and constantly being compared to her and her feats, or even the deceased brother, who died like a war hero. All, this and he is just ten years old. Many would say that the little boy is smart and understands the situation, but is it really okay to emotionally mature this early? To understand everything around him?
Jaune gave a soft sigh as he placed the newly baked vanilla almond pastry on Aiden's lap, the little boy looked up, Jaune had a bright smile plastered over his face, just like the stars, "I feel inadequate too, you know? Compared to my friends, my teammates, and my family. I may not know, how you feel since your experience is different than I have, but I will tell you one thing. Your [Semblance] may dictate what kind of your personality might be now, be that doesn't mean that's who you are. People change and people grow, I've learned that recently," stroking Aiden's head who enjoyed the feeling, "It matters not who you are Aiden, what matter who you want to be and what you want to do. Do what your heart says, and what makes you happy, prince or artist, hunter or chef, matters not…what matters if whatever you do, makes you happy."
Aiden's eyes were wide, but he didn't say anything. Jaune took out the dessert tray, lifting the boy, who slowly had a smile on his face.
The duo left the place pushing the trolly, not noticing the two presences.
Oberon and Morgana.
"Never saw the little guy smile this much, it's hard to be the youngest and have pressure to live up to your siblings."
Morgana didn't reply back instantly, "You look like you speak from experience."
"Well, I do have two annoying siblings."
Morgana didn't retort back.
[Part-3]
9th June, Monday- RX21, 08:35
{Open fields, outside Lancelot's house}
Jaune and Lancelot were ready and for some reason, Lancelot had brought a glass of water with a leaf on it? He kept it aside and didn't explain what it was for.
"You ready?"
"As ready as I would ever get."
"Bring your aura out, then."
Jaune nodded, the whirring sound covered his body as a white aura released from the confines. Lancelot stared for a while," Jaune, describe to me, how does the aura feel?"
Jaune appeared to be a tad bit confused, "How does it feel? It feels like weightless clothes? Warm mucus kind?"
"Do you know what the color white means in aura?"
Jaune shook his head.
"It means, you haven't unlocked your [Semblance] yet, when you do, the color of the aura changes from basic white to the represented color for its [Semblance], but by no means it is weak, [Semblance] is strong, but it becomes stronger due to the aid of aura, never forget that, "Lancelot continued, "Jaune tell me to do you know, what aura means?"
"It represents our soul?"
"That is correct. It is the very life source weaponized by us and directed by our will. Now, I am assuming you don't know anything about aura techniques?"
Jaune shook his head.
"Don't blame you, it's usually learned during the second year, and difficulties increase by the year, but hunters of this generation are too much-paying attention to [Semblance] as such, well, you see this many failures these days."
Jaune looked a bit uncomfortable, "Tyrian said the same thing."
"Yes, for all things said about him, Tyrian is quite a capable hunter. Now, before I tell you where to begin, do you remember your fight with Karna?"
"Yes," Jaune continued, "He was holding back, even I could tell."
"That is correct, he was but more than that, you could have done real damage had you known how to control aura, but the time frame given was too much, and you did master the way of your fighting, so it's still a win."
"Hahahahahaha! This is great! Why did you come to fight here? You don't even know the basics of combat, at first, I thought you were trying to catch me off guard, by not having too much aura covering your sword…I realize it now, it's not that you didn't cover your sword with aura, it's that you can't! hahahahahah…. hilarious, simply hilarious!"
"Ahahaha…just why did a failure, like you come here? For what reason, is someone who does not know even how to control aura and knows the abilities of aura. I don't blame you…this generation, of children, is just dumb, gets offended easily, cries easily, breaks easily- sometimes I wonder if it's the Grimm or the generation at fault, but…hey if it makes you feel any better…Jaune, right? Children these days simply want to show off semblance, they think with achieving use of abilities they are invincible, that they are better than the common folks, in reality, they are nothing more than common fodder, children who don't know how rules work, how the system works, do you what happens to those who play God, Jaune? They die! They simply perish, do you see their name? Do you see them achieving anything? You saw how many participated, right? How many do you think are capable? How many are actually able to fight? In the end, it all comes down to one thing and one thing, boy- just how strong your will, would be! Let me demonstrate, what an actual veteran does~"
Jaune recalled his memory, the time against Tyrian, he wasn't joking or toying when he said that.
Lancelot raised four fingers, "We'll start with basic, in order to fully grasp Aura, one must first learn the Four Major of the Art of Huntsmen. Everything else, including a practitioner of aura's individual skills the [Semblance], is based on the basic manipulations of one's aura flow. The Four Major Principles, in order of study, are: [Envelop/Shroud], [Suppress/Null], [Refine/Enhance] and [Release/Act].
These basic techniques become second nature to those experienced in the aura. For example, a beginner must learn to use [Envelop/Shroud] and concentrate to maintain it; whereas someone with experience will practically always be in a state of [Envelop/Shroud], even during sleep. Get it? They wouldn't ever keep their aura down, you can never catch a veteran off guard, especially strong ones."
Lancelot's aura, dazzling purple in color covered him, but unlike Jaune's which was whirling and erratically leaving his body, Lancelot's was serene, like a river or like a candle flame undisturbed.
"Once a person has opened their Aura Nodes, they must learn to keep their aura from leaking away from their body, not to waste it or throw it around haphazardly like you are doing. [Envelop/Shroud] is the process of keeping the nodes open, but also having aura flow through and around the body rather than away from it. Once maintained, it creates a shroud around the user that feels similar to standing in a lukewarm, viscous fluid, just like you described. [Envelop/Shroud] maintains youthful vigor and reduces one's aging, since the energy powering the body no longer leaks away; one can keep the body from breaking down and deter the aging process. [Envelop/Shroud] is the most basic defense against emotional [Semblance] attacks, and it also offers limited protection against physical attacks, but hardly any when said attacks are enhanced with aura. Through frequent meditation and practice, one can improve the quality of their [Envelop/Shroud] and even maintain it in their sleep. Once it has been learned, it will never be forgotten, much like cycling and swimming. Despite being the most elementary technique of all, [Envelop/Shroud] is also one of the most important, since, together with [Refine/Enhance], it plays an instrumental role in determining the strength and smoothness of a user's aura flow."
Lancelot continued, this time his aura disappeared, no it didn't shatter and break instead it just disappeared and Jaune could see, Lancelot, but he couldn't sense him.
"While [Envelop/Shroud] allows a user to keep aura from leaking away from their body, [Suppress/Null] stops the flow of aura from their body altogether. By closing all of their Aura Nodes, the user is able to halt all outflow of their aura like water from a valve, making their presence much harder or even impossible to sense. What Tyrian did to assassinate Artoria. Shutting off the nodes in their eyes prevents the user from being able to see the aura, but, since they are no longer surrounded by their own aura, they become more sensitive to the aura of others. The enhancement in perception is such that [Suppress/Null] can counter [Conceal] an advanced technique, although it is not advised to employ it this way. This technique is thus doubly useful when tracking another person, as not only it will make it easier to follow them, but it will also prevent other users of aura from noticing their pursuer. However, there are other ways to perceive a person hiding with [Suppress/Null]: aside from the five senses being effective, particularly perceptive individuals are capable of detecting the gaze of another person, although they might not manage to discern the position and number of onlookers. Furthermore, if [Suppress/Null] is utilized within a certain range from an aura user, that aura user might notice their presence disappearing, especially if the [Suppress/Null] user's aura is powerful. Despite the technique not affecting vision directly, activating [Suppress/Null] in front of someone else will give them the impression the user has turned transparent.
[Suppress/Null] can also be used to relieve fatigue, since it forces the body's external layer of aura to be fully contained within. However, for the same reason, it can be dangerous due to it leaving the body defenseless against any aura attack. Even a weak attack enhanced with aura could do massive damage. Since even the thin protection offered by [Envelop/Shroud] is gone, a [Suppress/Null] user is particularly susceptible also to hostile emotional attacks, resulting in their mind becoming as vulnerable as their body. It is also used to hide from Grimm as well, or trance them since they can't sense your aura or emotions."
Now, Lancelot looked serious, "Since your aura is activated, you would be fine, but for what I am about to do, I apologize."
Saying so, Lancelot's aura flared, more, and more to the point-
OoooooooooooOOOOOOOOOoooHHhhhhhhhhhhMMMMMMMMMMM
Purple. Skull. Danger. Death.
Words rang in his mind, just as similar as when Tyrian did it, but it seemed as if Lancelot was holding back. He didn't want to harm Jaune but showed enough to witness his strength.
"[Refine/Enhance] focuses on outputting a larger amount of aura than [Envelop/Shroud], projecting it outwards explosively. This amplifies the user's physical strength and durability and provides a large pool of aura for any advanced techniques or [Semblance] they decide to use, albeit at the cost of expending said aura. One can train their [Refine/Enhance] to extend its duration and increase the amount of aura at their disposal. It is said it takes one month to prolong one's [Refine/Enhance] outside of combat by 10 minutes. If [Envelop/Shroud] is considered purely defensive, [Refine/Enhance] can be regarded as its offensive counterpart, although it also grants the user vastly enhanced defensive abilities. With the right timing, [Envelop/Shroud] can be used to contain the aura produced with [Refine/Enhance]. By tingeing one's [Refine/Enhance] with hostility, an aura user can exert what is colloquially referred to as "bloodlust". Something that Tyrian did to you, Jaune. A prolonged emission of malicious [Refine/Enhance] can induce uncontrollable dread in those who cannot use aura, paralysis and if contrasted without [Envelop/Shroud], even death. On the other hand, a neutral [Refine/Enhance] can rarely be felt by non-users. Since [Refine/Enhance] is a show of power, it can also intimidate other aura users, as it offers an approximate measure of the user's raw strength; in fact, by "show me your [Refine/Enhance]", Hunters generally mean they want to see the fruits of one's training, such as a [Semblance], rather than their [Refine/Enhance] per se. In most cases, [Refine/Enhance] reflects the user's hostility without their control, and it can even leave faint traces in the environment after the aura user has left the scene."
Next Lancelot moved towards a nearby tree, "Observe," he says before the aura of purple is simply coating his hands, and what appeared to be him gently touching the tree.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The tree exploded, splinters everywhere as Jaune was too stunned to even speak.
"[Release/Act] is one's personal expression of aura, the basis of [Semblance] and its activation. Its qualities are influenced by but not restricted to the aura user's natural aura category, one of the six available. [Release/Act] is used to project one's aura to carry out a certain function, creating a special and unique paranormal ability that is colloquially referred to as a [Semblance], but not just it, the very release of aura too depends upon [Release/Act]. At first, [Release/Act] appears simply as a consequence of using [Refine/Enhance] during Water Divination- which I will tell you what it is; however, it is more than a mere property of the latter, and it can be trained individually either through Water Divination itself, which however seems to only affect the user's natural category or by honing one's skills in an aura category via specific exercises. Once a certain level of skill has been attained, the student can attempt to create their personal [Semblance], which is usually gained through the representation of the personality of the soul. Since they can have an immensely vast range of effects, [Semblance] may be recognized as any manifestation of one's aura that cannot be ascribed to one of the basic or advanced techniques, although there are instances of [Semblance] being essentially applications of [Temper] -an advanced aura technique which makes use of [Release/Act] with special conditions or restrictions. A good [Semblance] reflects a person's own character, regardless of its complexity; one can never truly master aura or [Semblance] if they only copy someone else's abilities."
Lancelot looked confused, as steam rolled through Jaune's head, "It's all too much and it's just the basic?" Lancelot sighed, "Quit being a baby, now before we practice the basics, we need to know what kind of aura category you fall in, Jaune."
"Category?"
"Indeed, aura users and their ability to use aura, are defined under six categories-," Lancelot kneeled and wrote the first world on the ground,
"[Enhancer/ Enhancement]- [Enhancement] is the ability to use aura to increase the natural abilities of an object or one's own body. Therefore, [Enhancers] are able to greatly increase their physical attack and defense and are best suited for melee combat. Proficient [Enhancers] who also take good care of their body can make it far more durable than tanks and generate the force of a missile or even more with one blow. It is rare to find male [Enhancers] with supportive abilities since most of them look to increase their combat prowess and their aura keeps healing them must faster than others. [Enhancement] is the most balanced category, allowing users to spread themselves evenly between offense and defense and become very powerful using only simple abilities. Examples of more complex [Enhancement] [Semblance] include enhancing one's healing factor or boosting the target's growth. However, it is a common belief that [Enhancers] generally do not need special techniques as their natural category already has the best balance between attack and defense as its primary attribute. This might play into why most [Enhancement] [Semblance] in the world appear to be mere applications of basic and/or advanced aura techniques at first glance due to the lack of requirement to manage between pros and cons on an overall scale during their development. Affinity for this category, in fact, plays a crucial role in combat at all times, even when a [Semblance] is not being used."
Lancelot drew a line towards the left of where he had written [Enhancer/ Enhancement], and wrote,
"[Transmuter/ Transmutation]- An affinity for [Transmutation] means a person can change the properties of their aura to mimic something else or only specific attributes. Altering the shape of one's aura falls in this category too. Similar to [Emission], constructs created via [Transmutation] are pure aura, therefore they are invisible to individuals who are incapable of using aura. [Transmutation] is often mistaken for [Conjuration] due to their similarities. The difference is that [Transmutation] allows the user to mimic the properties of a substance with their aura, whereas [Conjuration] changes aura into the actual substance. [Transmuters] are not limited to mimicking the properties of solid matter. For example, users can use aura to mimic the properties of electricity. [Transmuters] can also give their aura certain properties instead of replicating the characteristics of a substance in their entirety, say the user who uses electricity, that person electricity would be much, much stronger than the basic one."
Now drawing a line towards the right of where Lancelot wrote [Enhancer/ Enhancement] and continued,
"[Emitter/ Emission]- An affinity for [Emission] means that a user has an easier time separating their aura from their body. Aura usually decreases in intensity very quickly when it leaves the source body, but adept [Emitters] can separate their aura from their body for long periods of time, over long distances, and still be able to maintain it and its functions. Due to its properties, [Emission] is typically employed in abilities with an emphasis on range and/or those that have long-lasting effects. Basic applications include shooting out projectiles or beams of aura at high speed. While this method is primarily used to attack, it can also be used to propel oneself or to cast an effect pertaining to another [Semblance] type remotely. Advanced applications of this aura category, for example [Semblance], could include teleportation and enabling one's aura to phase through non-living matter. [Emission] has also been combined with music to achieve surprising effects, such as relieving fatigue and transfixing the listeners. Even if you're cooking where you use aura, that's unknowingly you using [Emission], impressive. [Emitted] aura appears to cap the user's output, and the more aura is separated from the user's body, the shorter the distance it can travel from the user. In some cases, users have shown the ability to recover emitted aura; thus far, this has only occurred when [Manipulation] was also involved."
Now drawing a line just below [Transmuter/ Transmutation],
"[Conjurer/ Conjuration]- In most cases, [Conjuration] is intended as the ability to create a physical, independent, material object out of one's aura; however, users of this category can also create laws and principles and affix them to a specific area. The durability of a conjured object can generally be taken as a measure of the user's skill, although conditions can be used to strengthen it. Constructs created via [Conjuration] have a subtle "independence" to them: under certain circumstances, they can continue existing even at a considerable distance from the [Conjurer], or even if the [Conjurer] themselves are not aware that they have yet to be dematerialized. Some [Conjurers] have also exhibited the capacity to alter the length and size of a materialized item. Once a person has mastered the materialization of a certain object, they can conjure it and dispel it in an instant, whenever they want. However, even if one were to completely master this aura type, there would still be objects they could not materialize, such as swords that can cut anything, as they go beyond "human capacity". Grand Hunter Izunavi vaguely described this principle as the inability to conjure objects overly supernatural, however, there are very, very few that can go beyond that point.
[Conjured] objects can, in fact, possess special abilities. For instance, a thief from the past now she is in Iron-Blood Prison, Shizuku, is able to [conjure] a vacuum cleaner that can infinitely suck up objects, but with the condition that it cannot suck up living things and things made out of aura. Similar to [Manipulation], [Conjuration] abilities tend to be very specific, complex, and conditional. Conditions can be imbued into conjured objects to make them stronger. Kortopi, for example, another criminal who is being kept at the Iron-Blood prison is able to materialize a perfect inanimate copy of any object or person that he touches. However, the copies of all objects generated will automatically disappear after 24 hours. By resorting to [Limitations], a [Conjurer] can take their ability a step further and materialize objects with properties that come even closer to exceeding human capacity, although they still cannot surpass it, as said earlier only a handful can. [Conjuration] is the only way in which aura and [Semblance] can create things those non-users can see and touch unless they are hidden from the senses with [Conceal]. Alternatively, [Conjurers] can create abilities whose constructs are invisible to non-users and even specific aura users, to the point that only one person may be able to perceive them. However, the fewer people are able to see a conjured construct, the lower the risk and the more energy is expended in its creation, resulting in an increased aura cost."
This time Lancelot drew a line under [Emitter/ Emission],
"[Manipulator/ Manipulation]- Abilities belonging to [Manipulation] allow the user to control living or non-living things, including aura constructs. The main advantage of this category in combat is the ability to manipulate the enemy themselves. Abilities of this type are especially feared since the fight can be brought to an end as soon as the conditions are met. The aura of the ability user mixes with the target's, although it is not normally noticeable. The degree of control is, for the most part, determined by a condition that may or may not put the [Manipulator] at risk or at a disadvantage such as attaching objects on the enemy, touching the enemy in a certain way: the higher the difficulty for the condition to be achieved, the better the degree of control. However, it is impossible to control a target that is already under the effect of [Manipulation] based [Semblance].
[Manipulators] are the aura users who can pour the most aura into an object, and they often rely on a medium that they have been utilizing for years. In many cases, they are seen capable of inflicting and maintaining the effects of their abilities from afar, seemingly without the aid of [Emission] type [Semblance], most commonly with the aid of a specific medium. The complexity of the orders assigned also depends on the target: sentient beings and machinery can carry out more complex tasks, as opposed to simpler, inanimate objects. [Manipulation] of the highest class is capable of semi-forcing the Aura Nodes of a non-user to open.
The form of [Manipulation] comes with mind control based [Semblance] as well, they are multiple types of mind control, but conditions must be met in order for it effect of the [Semblance] to take place:
[Soliciting]- [Request Type]- [Manipulators] leave the free will of the victim intact, but condition them into working in their favor. An example of soliciting-type ability is rewriting the target's memories. An advantage of this type of control is that it can potentially be used on several targets by consuming only a small amount of aura.
[Coercive]- [Compulsion Type]- [Manipulators] exert total control over the victim, taking over both their mind and body.
[Pseudo-coercive]- [Half-Compulsion Type]- [Manipulators] either take over the body of the victim or trap them into a situation where they have no choice but to follow the Manipulator's orders.
The specifics of [Diffusive]- [Induction Type]- [Manipulation] have yet to be explained in detail, but some say it is the strongest form of [Manipulation] there is. It was described as weakly coercive but capable of influencing a large number of people, which it was seen doing by affecting their emotions towards a certain object."
It appeared that it was the last category, drawing lines from both [Manipulator/ Manipulation] and [Conjurer/ Conjuration], Lancelot wrote down the final category, but for some reason, it was written in a different manner,
"[Specialization- Unique/ Stand-in]- [Specialization] could be broadly defined as anything that does not belong in any of the other five categories, making it the vaguest aura type. Accordingly, its effects are wide-ranging: some influence [Release/ Act] itself, for example by appropriating others' [Semblance] or by altering affinities, while others allow the user to garner knowledge that would be unattainable through other means, such as about past or future events; others have completely different effects. Consequently, [Specialists] are not as much at a disadvantage as users of other aura types if their category is revealed. Only [Specialists] can use this aura type. It is possible to become one later in life, although it is more likely for [Manipulators] or [Conjurers], which is why this category is placed at the bottom of the aura chart. Since its position is dictated by a factor other than the affinity for other aura types, it is currently unclear if it has the same acquisition rates as other categories, although it should be noted the presence of [Specialization] in the chart affects other aura types regularly. It is currently unknown how [Specialists] develop their [Semblance]- these are called [Unique].
On the other hand, when an individual is lonely, they don't have anyone or are isolated and mentally strong, this other form of [Specialization] takes place, called the [Stand-in], you have seen Jolyne Xavier use it, a humanoid figure is summoned which have unique abilities of their own."
What Lancelot wrote looked like this,
[Enhancer/ Enhancement]
/ \
[Emitter/ Emission] [Transmuter/ Transmutation]
[Manipulator/ Manipulation] [Conjurer/ Conjuration]
\ /
[Specialization-Unique/ Stand-in]
"This is just the basics though; do you get it?" Lancelot looked up only for Jaune's head to explode steam through his ears. Lancelot could physically hear the cogs of Jaune's mind creaking and having difficulty processing.
[Part-4]
9th June, Monday- RX21, 09:15
{Open fields, outside Lancelot's house}
"Do you understand, or is it still difficult?"
Jaune shook his head, "No, I get it, I understand."
Lancelot sighed, "Well, the best way to understand the categories would be, let's start with all the fights that you witnessed during your preliminaries."
Jaune nodded, "Alright, the first bout was mine and Karna's. Karna's aura changed, it burned- its properties changed to accommodate element fire, Karna is a [Transmuter]."
"Correct, good, now go on."
Jaune continued, "The next one was Sigurd against Arjuna. Sigurd's properties were quite similar to [Transmutation], but it didn't feel like that to me, to me it seemed that he could do [Transmutation] but his base was…[Emission]?"
Lancelot smirked, "That is a correct observation, as to how Sigurd was using his [Semblance], he is indeed a [Emitter], what about the man he was against? Arjuna?"
Jaune rubbed his chin, he didn't answer right away, "I don't know, he is difficult, I wanted to say he is a [Conjurer] since he conjured the plants and trees, but he could even convert his aura for that of the trees, [Transmuter] and he was great at [Emitting] and [Manipulation] as well, um, this might be a shot in the dark…but I think he is a [Specialist]."
The man was impressed, "That is correct, Arjuna is indeed a [Specialist], more along the lines of [Unique]," Lancelot nudged him, "So? Continue."
"Ah, yes," Lancelot could see Jaune was a tad bit uncomfortable, but continued anyway, "Pyrrha against Jolyne, well Jolyne is a [Specialist], a [Stand-in] type- you said earlier…Pyrrha's abilities actually all fall under the category of [Emission], now that I think about it, her [Semblance] really does cover all of [Emission] but not just that, I think she is great at [Enhancement] and [Manipulation]…as well, wait how?"
"So, you finally got there, there are six types of auras; every individual is born having one of these six different aura types. Upon learning one's own aura type, a student of aura can set about learning to apply the technique in a unique way that suits their personality, which can develop into a unique skill," Kneeling once again, Lancelot wrote near the chart he made, while explained it as well,
"First, Let's say, if someone is a [Enhancer/ Enhancement] category:

These are numerical approximations to indicate just exactly how efficient one would be at using aura abilities that one is not born into. Starting at one's own aura type, one has the potential to be 100% efficient at using abilities based in that category alone. Then looking at the category chart that I drew, one has the potential to be 80% efficient at using aura types adjacent to one's primary type, 40% efficient at the opposite or farthest category, and 60% efficient in the two remaining categories. Specialization is typically unusable for non-Specialists because it is impossible to partially use; one either can or cannot use Specialist abilities. However, it is possible to turn into a Specialist later in life, with Conjurers and Manipulators having the highest chance of succeeding."
"This means regardless of what category I am; I can master others as well?"
Lancelot didn't deny him, "It would be extremely difficult, however, but my teacher once said, mastering other categories, will make you even stronger in your own category, so let's continue, shall we?"
"Well," Jaune thought out aloud, before he continued once again, "Gilgamesh against Cinder."
Lancelot raised his hand, "Let that one go, none of them used their [Semblance], continue with the next one."
Jaune did that so anyway, even though he didn't want to speak about Gilgamesh this much, "Lucius Tribieus Olympus against Jolyne, well we do know Jolyne's but Lucius, this might be a wild guess, but I thought he was controlling gravity."
"Indeed, he was," after a thoughtful expression Lancelot replied, "He's actually good at it, he, and Karna are the ones who have mastered their ability to the maximum."
"I know his base should be, know is [Emission], but from what I could see, he was great at [Manipulation] as welland well the damage that it did, [Enhancement] as well."
"Correct, go on."
Jaune's face turned sour, he didn't want to remember that, it almost reminded him of what Pyrrha said the last time and it made his stomach turn, "Pyrrha against Touka Daichi…well, I know about Pyrrha's, Touka's on the other hand, I think, no, I am sure of it, she is a [Transmuter], but she has mastered [Emission] as well, isn't that right?"
"Indeed, it would also seem she has [Enhancement] for just a sure shot skill, not strength, continue…"
Jaune rubbed the back of his head, "I mean after that I don't remember the bouts, the only one I do which was Gilgamesh against Cardin, and for all, I could see he just [Conjured] just one sword, is he a [Conjurer]?"
"Well close enough, let him be, it would be better if you assess your friends' [Semblance], let's start with your teammates from Beacon."
"Well, we know about Pyrrha," Jaune continued, "Well, Nora's [Semblance] is [High Voltage], from what I have observed and she told me, she can generate electricity to strengthen her muscles, but she can also absorb electric shocks to make her even stronger, well she is actually a [Transmuter], who is great at [Enhancement] as well, but I don't think she is able to do any other category that good. Ren's [Semblance], from what he told me, and what he did was [Tranquility] it masks negative emotions, which aids him in avoiding detection by Grimm and even other people. He can extend the effect of his [Semblance] to other people, as well as vehicles containing people. When his [Semblance] activates, the affected person's colors become temporarily desaturated."
Lancelot on the other hand looked confused, "That's just advance the application of [Suppress/ Null], that's not a [Semblance]."
Jaune looked apprehensive, "No, it's his [Semblance], I know for the fact, he said so too."
"Maybe I could be wrong, but I don't think this Ren teammate of yours, has [Semblance] unlocked either…but, let's move on," indication for Jaune to continue, yet now his thoughts were plagued by what just Lancelot said, Lie Ren, didn't have a [Semblance]? Impossible, "He is skilled, quite strong as well."
"Jaune, you don't need [Semblance] to be skilled and strong, those who have support [Semblance] do you think they are weak when they fight just because their [Semblance] doesn't aid them? [Semblance] is nothing more than unique abilities, it makes the battle easier doesn't mean you would win."
Still, Jaune knows that is Ren's [Semblance], it is, isn't it? It is, whatever, he trusts Ren more so he would go with whatever he had said.
"Well, Team RWBY would be next, they are good…friends as well," Lancelot could pick a little something off, when he spoke in that tone, it appeared as though, Jaune felt inadequate in front of this other team.
"Well, Yang, the heavy hitter of the team RWBY, well even if they directly didn't say what Yang's [Semblance] does except it's called [Burn], well Pyrrha and I had deduced what her [Semblance] does, essentially it lets her absorb kinetic energy from every blow she takes and use it to make herself more powerful; this is a form of kinetic energy absorption, with Yang subsequently redirecting said energy against her opponent with double the amount of force. As a side-effect of her [Semblance], Yang's eyes turn red and her hair sometimes begins glowing and even becomes covered in flames. Yang's Semblance does not make her angry, but anger has sometimes led her to impulsively activate it. I think it's clear that she is an [Enhancer], with little to no abilities outside of it."
"Then, the next would-be Blake," Jaune continued, "Well we don't know each other that well, but I think her [Semblance], is called [Shadow] that, allows her to create shadow-clones of herself. These clones push her in the direction of her choosing and can be used to trick and disorient opponents. Blake can use Dust to give her clones additional abilities. Dust allows the clones to copy an element, with her afterimages becoming completely solid or even completely intangible depending on the chosen form of Dust. Fire Dust allows her to create fiery clones that explode on contact, Ice Dust allows her to create solid ice copies of herself that opponents can get their weapons stuck in, Earth Dust allows her to create a clone of solid stone, and Lightning Dust zips her to another location quickly. I would have assumed she is an [Emitter], but I think, the better would be she is a [Manipulator], with great [Emission] abilities."
Jaune looked embarrassed talking about her, "Well, next would-be Weiss, her [Semblance] is the Schnee family [Semblance] of [Glyphs], allowing her to create glyphs that can be used in a variety of ways: create a slippery platform to skate on at high speed, generate midair platforms to manipulate her trajectory in the air and perform limited time dilation that can speed up actions, to name a few. I think it's [Conjuration] and quiet the effort in [Manipulation]."
Lancelot shook his head, "No, that's not it," Jaune on the other hand looked confused, "I know of the Schnee family [Semblance], it's not actually [Conjuration] but rather, it's [Specialization], it gives free rein of [Conjuration], [Manipulation], [Emission] and if learned well, even [Enhancement] as well, however it looks like [Conjuration] because it mostly replies on that part of the category."
Jaune understood, he nodded in agreement as he could see Lancelot's point," Finally, leader of Team RWBY, Ruby, weird to say it this way, well her [Semblance] is named [Petal Burst] (Ruby also calls it [Speed] but that is just dumb), allows her to dash with an inhuman speed in whatever direction she chooses, often leaving trails of rose petals in her wake. Ruby is shown to be capable of creating powerful tailwinds with her Semblance; if she gathers enough momentum, the resulting turbulence is capable of lifting people off the ground. She can even separate herself, like dissection, I always found that odd, more often than not, I find her [Semblance] not of speed but something different, when I saw Arjuna at the battle, I think for some reason, her [Semblance] give of the same kind of vibe, you know? Being related to the nature of the sort. If I didn't know any better, I would have said [Transmutation], but actually, it's to me, just like you said about Weiss, [Specialization]."
Lancelot nodded, "I will take your word for it, now, follow me."
Lancelot picked up the glass of water that had a leaf floating on it, "The most popular way and the only sure-fire way of determining one's aura type is through Water Divination. This divination requires one to float a leaf atop a glass of water. A student of the aura will place their hands around the glass and release aura at a greater amount. The resulting effect from one's aura contacting the glass will determine a person's aura type. The same you did with the lotus, you really didn't think that I did something without it having some meaning, now perform."
Lancelot placed the water glass in front of Jaune, and the latter did what he was told to. Placing the hands around the glass, the poured his aura, slowly and slowly, what appeared to be having no change, but then, the volume of the water changed, it changed to the point that it started overflowing.
Jaune looked up, "What does this mean?"
"The volume of the water changed, this means you are an [Enhancer], perfect for you, so, the process goes as follows:
If the volume of the water changes, then the user is an [Enhancer].
If the taste of the water changes, then the user is a [Transmuter].
If impurities appear in the water, then the user is a [Conjurer].
If the color of the water changes, then the user is an [Emitter].
If the leaf moves on the water's surface, then the user is a [Manipulator].
If a completely different change appears, then the user is a [Specialist]. Congratulations, now let's go towards the riverbed and let me tell you, what to do for the basic training," Even before Lancelot could finish his sentence, Jaune had already run off towards the river bed dropping the water divination glass in the process spilling the water.
Lancelot just smirked, he was about to leave when he noticed something, the leaf, picking it up, the upper side, which was visible during the divination process looked untouched, but the other side had turned black with white to platinum color dots upon it. Like the starry sky.
Staring it for a while, Lancelot tucked the leaf with himself and departed where Jaune had left.
"Now, [Envelop/Shroud], release the aura but instead of haphazardly letting it out, control it, imagine it to be your cloth, your outfit, and don't let it disappear, control it and cover your body with it."
Jaune's eyes were closed, concentrate and don't let the aura leave the body endlessly, control it, cove yourself with it.
Lancelot's eyes widen, it takes time, at least ten days to control [Envelop/Shroud] covering the body, and Lancelot didn't even tell him to take any form of a natural stance that might help his mind to focus even better, but Jaune did it in an instant and did it better than Lancelot had seen anyone do, the aura wasn't flowing or dancing anymore, instead, like a serene flame covered the body.
"Good, from today till, the day of your first match, you will always keep active [Envelop/Shroud]."
"Wouldn't that fatigue me?"
"Even in your sleep."
Jaune's eyes widen, "What?"
"To the next one."
Grimm filled area, and yet none of them had seen the duo.
"It is a little-known fact, but young Grimm are blind."
Jaune didn't know that, "Really? They attack quite often and they don't seem to be blind, I can tell you that."
"Well, it's the alphas and the elder Grimm that have eyes, but young, new Grimm, they don't they sense aura and emotion and launch their attack. You need to follow, what I do and trust yourself."
Lancelot's aura dipped and then disappeared, his body looked darkened, he took the first step, and the next, in the next few seconds he crossed the river, to the next side, through the Grimm, indication to follow up.
Jaune did that too, suppressing his aura, however, it was rather hard for him, but a few minutes in and finally he got the hang of it, just like Lancelot, his aura dipped and disappeared and his body looked darkened as he was one with the shadows, huh, now that he thinks about it, this does look like he is using Ren's [Semblance]…no, no…control emotions, Ren has his own [Semblance], this is just a skill.
Walking through the Grimm, Jaune almost thought that they would attack, but then what Lancelot said did come to fruition.
"You did that good, just like before till the day of your bout, you need to walk through the Grimm-infested area and near the tower."
"Wha-?!"
"Let's continue."
"Wait!"
The open fields near the tower are a beautiful sight, sadly Jaune wasn't allowed to enjoy it and for some reason, Albion was here as well.
"Good, now we'll do [Refine/ Enhance], come on now- unlike [Envelop/ Shroud], all that aura, release it, open the flood gates and don't hold back, let it go- with as much intensity as it can."
Jaune closed his eyes, let it go, let it go…
The bubbling sensation, waiting to be released.
Open the flood gates, whatever is inside…let it go.
Pyrrha's sad face that day. The heat won't go.
CRREEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!
Lancelot's eye widens, aura rushed through Jaune's as it exited, as fast as it could, just like a damn, however, the pressure was so much that it created an impact crater around him, and the surrounding area got cleared.
Two things were made clear, Jaune has a lot of aurae and he has a very dense amount of aura, whizzing around it almost appeared that his nearby surroundings were being distorted.
An hour later after releasing his aura, Jaune fell, exhausted, taking in the breathing heavily, he almost thought he would choke on his own breath, [Refine/ Enhance] took a toll on his body.
DON!
Jumpscare?! Even with what little aura was left Jaune looked up, a metallic vest?
"This is a 100kg metallic vest, activate whatever aura you have and wear it, then fight Albion."
Jaune blinked, and again, perhaps a little more too, then closed his eyes, yeah this must be some form of a dream, heh, Lancelot, he makes good jokes.
"Guh!" Jaune jolted up, as Lancelot kicked him, "I am not joking, wear that, and fight Albion."
"Yeah, might as well tell me to lift Atlas, why don't you? I am tired and you want me to fight, a beast of that caliber? A 300-meter-tall dragon, who can with a swing of any of his ligaments can kill me and when I am exhausted?"
"Yes, push past your limits, if anything, survive for the next one and a half hour."
Albion bared his teeth.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Jaune Arc wanted to die, he really did- that was no fight, there was no fight, it was him running around and trying to defend himself with the best of his ability, all while a 100kg vest on, he could tell that damned dragon, Albion was enjoying himself.
Throwing fireballs for fun, he could see the smirk that beast had! One day, Jaune will slay that beast, he vowed!
However, he realized something, an hour break now, that his training hasn't ended yet.
"Everyday, use [Refine/ Enhance] after that, wear the vest and fight Albion, the time and weight will substantially increase."
Demon. Lancelot was a sadistic demon who enjoyed children getting tortured, he could imagine popcorn and cola as Lancelot watches Jaune Arc surviving his doom.
After Albion, Jaune would kill Lancelot as well.
"Kill me someday later boy, now follow, and keep the vest on."
Fuck You, Jaune really wanted to say that.
What the…?
Jaune simply followed where Lancelot wanted him to go and now, this was the edge of Camelot, through the tower towards the north, the end of the island, however, the section was covered with a large wall, and in front was a gate? A large metallic gate, just as the size of Albion.
The metal doors were preceding each other, and every door had a mark on it, (一) was the mark on the first one, (二) marked the second one, (三) marked the third, (Ⅸ) marked the fourth, the fifth was marked by (Λ), (ΛⅠ) marks the sixth and the last one, the seventh was marked as (ⅠΛⅠ).
Also, there was a small cottage nearby.
"What is this place?"
"This place," a voice filled with pride, Lancelot continued, "This is called the Valley of the Kings, where the Grand Finals of the 100 Year Tournament would be held, it was done since the beginning of the first tournament."
Since the beginning of Camelot, a place where legends fought.
"But why bring me here?"
"Here, you would practice, [Release/ Act], now that you seem to recover, release aura and try to pry open the door, ah, you can drop the vest for now."
Finally, Jaune felt free, his shoulders were hurting, but now, he was good to go, he just needed to push, right?
Pressing palms on both sides of the door, Jaune pushed, with every aura he could muster, he released it…for a moment Jaune thought he could pull it off, he could push the door open, but what occurred as he fell.
"What?"
"I don't blame you, now, let me," Lancelot spoke as he concentrated his aura and pushed-
SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The first five gates swung open, instant- and for a few seconds, Jaune could see the inside of the place, a coliseum for just two surrounded by many statues.
"Looks like I have indeed lost too much of strength," Looking towards Jaune Lancelot continued, "The first door is four tons, after which it doubles, eight tons, sixteen tons, thirty-two tons, sixty-four tons, one twenty-eight ton, and finally,"
"Two…two fifty-six tons?!" Jaune completed Lancelot, "Well, you aren't dumb in mathematics at least. Well, the final test for the Grand Finals is, you need to be able to push at six gates to go in."
"But…if there are people that can push this much, aren't they strong? What about taking a punch from them? One would die!"
"That's where you are dumb, while it is indeed the sign of strength pushing it, it doesn't mean the force of attacks would be the same, you are pushing the door Jaune not punching it, now, I need you to push at least third gate before your matches begin…"
Jaune looked worried and scared now, "You want me to push sixteen tons?"
"Yes, this will aid you in your [Release/ Act]," Lancelot continued nodding to himself, "Yes, and for tonight only I would let you come back, tomorrow onwards, you would sleep in that cottage, and begin your training. Everything there is just like your vest, added weights, you will hunt and cook there, after which you need to wear the 250kg vest at all times, even during your sleep. See, am I not the best teacher?"
"Kill yourself, slave driver."
"I like you too Jaune."
It was dreadful, it was 11 pm? Or 12? Who the fuck cares? Jaune has to do this everyday, and on day one he was already broken. He was nearly crawling back to Lancelot's house for the last time.
However, in dead of night, he saw someone right outside Lancelot's house, Jaune had seen this guy earlier, in the castle, if his memory serves him correctly, the man's name was,
"Jah'Rakal, correct?"
The man, Jah'Rakal who had his back against the wall, stood up straight, and now does Jaune see, the guy is like, what? 6'10''?
"I see, you have been training in the aura, must be difficult."
You have no idea, however, what came out was, "Do you need something? I really want to connect intimately with my bed?"
Jah'Rakal pulled out a paper and pen, "The chocolate cake that you gave Aiden and the almond cake, their recipe and how you made it, my lady wants to retaste it, but she isn't going to ask someone else, she too enjoys cooking."
Jaune looked baffled, "You have been standing there for how long?"
"Since the morning?"
"…This far, for a woman?"
For a moment Jaune thought he insulted Jah'Rakal and was about to get his ass handed to him, instead, perhaps with a bit of emotion Jah'Rakal replied, "You wouldn't understand."
Before anymore Jaune simply wrote it, what's the worst that could happen? Whatever.
"Here, also, more than that…if she is cooking, ask her to whoever she is making for, for her or anyone else, make it with love and care- you might think this would sound stupid, but one's affection is shown through the food they make."
Jaune Arc, beaten and deranged, still smiled.
Jah'Rakal was taken aback. Love and care? Jah'Rakal shook his head, "I thank you for it, here," Jah'Rakal handed Jaune what seem to be a lot of liens…a lot, if he had a student loan it would be taken care of and he could buy a car, that kind of lien, however, he pushed it back.
"I am in no need of cash, take it, it's just a recipe, please do enjoy."
Jaune started to crawl back, leaving a little bewildered Jah'Rakal behind, however, he was a man who paid back debts," Jaune Arc," he called.
Tiredly he looked back, "Is there anything else?"
"Since you won't take anything, let me give you two pieces of advice if you wish for it."
Well, advice won't hurt, "Please, go for it."
"Motivation is useless, it won't get you far, at maximum you would be motivated to go on for a week but then you would break and lose it. Have drive, and a strong determination to go through anything. It will last your lifetime," Jah'Rakal turned and Jaune could swear he saw the man's eye glowing, "The second and the most important one since you would be never, ever let you will break, whatever happens, win or lose, in combat or life- never let it break your will…if it does, you are just as good as dead, a man's worth is known by the strong will he carries."
Jah'Rakal nodded, "Have a good night, Jaune Arc."
But gave Jaune enough time to ponder over. Jaune didn't realize how long he was out before sighing and knocking at the door.
"Jaune, sexual assault is a crime, do you want me to file a complaint for you?"
"Get out of my way Pitou, before I demolish you."
[Part-5]
5th July, Monday- RX21, 08:20
{Lancelot's house}
Mash was about to meet Jaune, weird, it had been nearly a month since she saw the boy and unironically missed him, from what she gathered from Pitou, even the new set of friends that Jaune met and made, and of course his punishment to cook breakfast every morning at the royal palace and damn he cooked for everyone.
But, from what he could gather from Artoria, the princess doesn't wake up early, and sadly for her, due to the intense training that Jaune has been going through he just cooks early and leaves, without spending time with Artoria and while she might not agree, Mash could see the little sadness in her eyes.
Oh, Albion was outside Lancelot's house as well, resting, perhaps he was sleeping? Strange, usually the dragon stays near the tower. Mash wouldn't say she has a strong connection with the dragon, but she did acknowledge its strength and existence.
Also, because she thought dragon porn would be cool.
"Hm?" walking towards Lancelot, her father's house, she could see something, Albion's metallic claws, unlike other dragons ever told in the stories, Albion had metallic scales and for some reason, those hard scales around his claws and tail were broken, huh, who was this dragon fighting? Whatever, Mash even though she thought that was weird.
Opening up the door, Mash well, shouted, "Jaune, you ready, just like the first time, big sis is here you know?"
She could hear the showerhead, looks like Jaune is taking a bath, walking inside, she found something weird, the dining table, a glass of water with a leaf floating?
Oh, water divination, even after knowing what category of aura user you are one practice it to become even more proficient, but what was weird was that the glass had broken from inside as the water had spilled everywhere.
"Wait, how did the glass break from the inside…unless, if I am correct, Pitou did say Jaune is an [Enhancer], and during water divination, [Enhancer] category increases the volume of water…could it be, that the water increased at such a pace that it broke the glass? Surely…no way…"
Mash, saw Jaune walking out, he just wore black pants, and a towel around his shoulders…this is not the boy Mash saw a month ago, Mash rubbed her eyes, maybe she was hallucinating.
Did he look taller? No, he was indeed taller, like two inches more, and his body wasn't exactly lean anymore, Jaune had wide shoulders, now his frame suited him, he already had low body fat, but Mash did wonder, at low body fat, vascularity is clear, very clear, but for some reason, Jaune did have a low body fat but the vascularity wasn't visible, even his well-developed bicep didn't have the infamous bicep vein. Mash wouldn't consider Jaune like a buff bodybuilder, rather a little more buff than lean, with quite impressive abs, like quite impressive, and obliques as well all of them connected to a perfect v-shape, as if his body was accommodating to suit his needs, his serratus anterior too were very, very clear and well defined to the eye. However, there was something different about Jaune, his back, more clearly his posterior delt and teres major, looked more like wings? Mash was perhaps hallucinating, muscles…don't form that way. Jaune had clean shaved, yeah, it does look good even without the facial hair. The hair was sleeked back, and he topped it off with a simple white muscle shirt.
"Yup, simply does look good, you ready, feeling good?" Mash asked as, Jaune wore the belt and put his sword on, he smirked.
"I am feeling good."
Jaune's scroll rung, his first opponent was raised, and just like preliminaries, his was the first match.
"Looks like I'm getting the first match!" Elm Ederne, fist-bumped herself, for a girl, she was just as tall as Sigurd, 6'5'', a muscular woman with medium brown hair in a short ponytail, brown-tan skin, and brown eyes. She wears an Atlesian Atlas Academy uniform that consists of an open white, one-sleeved crop jacket with dark blue accents, shoulder flaps and collar, and a dark gray armor shirt. She has silver vambraces over her forearms. On her back, she has a magnet used to carry her weapon.
She has a red belt around her white pants and goes barefoot save for some martial arts footwraps alongside dark blue calf plates that cover the tops of her feet, the plates have three red straps tied around them; the soles of her feet are appropriately dirty as a result. She also has a silver hoop earring on her right ear.
"And, against whom?" Sigurd questions, as he too was getting prepared, Brynhild and the rest of Team BMET as well.
"Your new friend," Elm smirked, "Jaune Arc, don't worry, I'll go easy on him."
"Don't." Sigurd spoke in a serious manner, "You will lose should you underestimate him."
"Come on, I won't, it's just been a month. I'll be having a little fun."
The one who stood at the podium for casting, was Sherlock once again, puffing the smoke he looked around, the main round begins today. No introductions were needed, the main tournament would just begin. Once again, he reminded himself, what the rules are:
Now, in order to make it to the top 14, all of them will have 10 matches each- and in those 10 matches, they will have to win 9 of them to place themselves in the position. Your opponent's name would be provided to you in your scroll.
Remember, the preliminaries weren't aired nor these 10 matches would be aired on T.V. the result and the top 14 would be the ones that the world would know.
In the main tournament, which starts today, the contestants would be provided with 10 fights. However, those who won both the rounds of preliminaries, during the main tournament, they will be provided with 5 victories, as such, they would only have to win 4 more rounds to get to the top 14.
The contestant had filled the coliseum, and the king and his family were presented as well. The time was up.
Sherlock stood up and finally, the screen shows the contestants for the first round.
Jaune Arc Vs Elm Ederne
{0/10} {0/10}
"Warriors come forth!"
Elm smirked, she was prepared, swinging her hammer around, slamming it on the ground, she felt it.
Finally, Jaune stepped in, confidence perhaps for the first time flowed.
Elm was surprised, the boy looked different, was he the same boy from before? Whatever, this would change nothing, Elm would win.
Sherlock puffed smoke, "You brats should know the drill, The battle ends when the other party admits defeat or is unable to move. Even after the shattering of aura, you are allowed to fight…well then, contenders…are you both ready?"
A nod from Elm and from Jaune,
"Let's go ahead!"
Elm perhaps wanted to taunt a little, wanted to give the boy the first hit and say to hit as strong as he could- but the next thing was…
CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!
The land beneath her cracked, Elm- shocked, the next instant, if it weren't for her fast reflexes and strong aura reinforcement-
The shadowed figure, with glowing blue eyes- punched her right in her gut.
DOOOOOOOOOOOON!
Elm didn't just get slammed on the wall, she slammed and got in the wall as her aura crackled.
What…what happen? Elm, with the aid of her trusty hammer and rocket combo, [Timber], using it she pulled herself out of the debris.
What? Just what?
"Begh!" Elm fell to her knees, as blood gushed out from her mouth, the damage was much more than she expected. The use of [Refine/ Enhance] to enhance her defense at just the last moment was thanks to her instincts, however, Jaune Arc's aura did something more…it was as if Jaune Arc's aura overpowered her aura, that is a very difficult and impressive feat. That would most probably make Jaune Arc fall in the [Enhancer] category, would probably make sense why a single punch did this much damage. But that was his mistake, Elm now knows- even if she isn't a [Enhancer], she is a [Transmuter] and well versed in the former category as well.
Elm jumped out, "Got me once, won't get me again," she seethed under her smirk, [Deep Roots], her [Semblance] allows her to plant herself in place, causing her to seemingly be unmovable for its duration, allowing for greater strength to be put in blows. Elm's [Semblance] also makes her perfect for using heavy artillery-type weapons, due to the fact that she could easily root herself to the ground to prevent the weapons' immense recoil to fling her right off her feet. The obvious weakness of her [Semblance] is that it is dependent on the stability of the ground beneath her feet: in situations where the ground is unstable or broken, her Semblance becomes useless, if not detrimental due to instead latching on to broken pieces of stone, effectively putting weights on Elm's feet.
However, Jaune Arc doesn't know that, a pale-yellow aura covered her feet as it soon transformed into roots that dug deep into the concrete ground. [Timber] transformed into a rocket launcher, and she could see Jaune Arc's eye widen- but before she allowed him to react-
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Elm pulled the trigger, the two rockets, at great speed- for a moment she thought that Jaune Arc might be able to dodge it, but instead- he walked…he walked! Towards the trajectory of the rockets, and now she could see his face clearly, well cut and dignified- he gave the devilish smirk…that was clearly meant to seduce Elm, which was perhaps working.
(It was not, Jaune was smirking against the rocket, he didn't even see Elm's expression.)
His aura- dense and white roared- Jaune Arc didn't dodge.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
That portion of the coliseum exploded and for that moment Elm thought that Jaune Arc, perhaps was suicidal, however, the very moment the smoke cleared, she was proven to be dead wrong.
The land near Jaune Arc had cracked and broken, smoke protruding, the rockets did their intended task.
Jaune Arc walked unscathed.
The rockets failed their task, his aura was pure white and dense, she could see why he would tank the attack and not dodge…this was starting to take a toll on Elm's mind- however, she shook her head- no time for that.
Elm jumped, the roots that held her to the ground also gave her spring action,
DOOOOOOOOOON!
Elm slammed her hammer right in front of Jaune, the latter appearing unfazed, Elm didn't stop, turning her hammer- [Timber] also had another function, thrusters-
BAM!
Right under Jaune's chin, however, Elm didn't stop- she dropped her hammer, and slammed her feet right where Jaune's was, and rooted it, with her- then,
DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON! DON!
Elm Ederne did not stop, the opening attack, humiliated her and brought her aura down, now she would punish Jaune Arc for it, and she would punish him badly- she rained down punches and punches-
Jaune Arc grabbed her arm- intense blue eyes glared at her, unfortunately, Elm realized a little late, she was low on aura as she used most of it to attack, if that's the case concentrating aura on her other arm, and clicking on the thrusters once more she swung her hammer, it was a feat of strength on her part but-
Jaune Arc blocked it, the head of [Timber] was being held by his other arm-
CRUSH!
He cracked it! He- Jaune cracked the hammer's head, Elm, her thoughts were in disarray,
OoooooooooHHHHHHHHMmmmmmmmmmmmm!
Blue eyes shone and glared, any ideas or plans that might have infested Elm's mind, all disappeared, her throat parched, her soul shaken, the aura on her body weak- she severely underestimated him, all she could see was a dragon devouring her.
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!
The punch connected, Elm could feel her aura shattering, her sternum breaking, and…something was missing…
Oh, her leg, her right leg that was holding Jaune Arc was torn off, by the force of the punch.
Heh, this wasn't a fight.
"Winner! Jaune Arc."
Author's Notes:
Love at first sight, interesting concept- was done for Jaune and Pyrrha, but I won't do it. Nope, a relationship grows stronger when there is conflict and how two people solve that, that's how they come close, so in this chapter, you guys got a sense as to why Artoria, a princess no less, acts so cozy around Jaune.
Merlin is the kind of character, you can't decide what to do about her, like her or hate her, she isn't good but she isn't bad, who knows what she is? The sole thing she loves? Chaos. Regardless of who is affected.
70% of the aura system has been explained, the rest 30% will be explained with each fight Jaune partakes in. Also, Jaune does not have his Semblance yet.
Anyone got the Whiplash, reference?
