A veteran Belmont, the last of his kin in the current era, was found drunk at a local bar in Wallachia. But wasn't drunk enough to ignore the locals speaking wrong against families like his own. When asking for another drink, the Belmont had accidentally exposed his Family Crest that was on his shirt, and that's when things got ugly. For the locals turned violent and a fight broke out between them and the Belmont. He was gonna give them the satisfaction of beating him down while he was drunk, and held his own before leaving the bar and moving forward. At that time, it was not good to be part of the Belmont Family...
Luz wasn't sure of how to feel at the moment, what with the new information she was given at the moment. While Eda put her through work as the two rummaged through some boxes, the witch could sense that Luz still felt distraught. After the information about her father was shared with them, Eda knew that this was a lot for Luz to take in. She only wished that there was something that could help distract Luz from all the revealed secrets. Hopefully, an answer would come bursting through the door.
"Luz! I need your help!" Gus said as he came bursting through the door, getting everyone's attention.
"Gus? What's wrong?" Luz asked.
"Well, you know how I'm President of the Human Appreciation Society?"
Luz replied "I don't think I've heard you bring that before in this timeline."
"Oh." Gus said. "Well, in any case, I need your help because someone is trying to take my spot a President! A newcomer by the name Mattholomule. He questions all the stuff I bring as human artifacts, while all the stuff he brought was completely fake!"
"I don't think yours or Eda's knowledge of 'Human Artifacts' are completely accurate either, Gus."
"Hey!" Eda screamed in the background.
"Well, that's why I came by." Gus explained. "You're more of an expert than either of us, so why don't you come by to Hexside tomorrow and show off your knowledge?"
Luz thought about it for a second before saying "I guess I could do that. It could help to take my mind off things. Is it cool with you, Eda?"
"Just remember that to keep a low profile, since the Emperor's Coven is hunting you more than me now. And don't even think about enrolling."
"Please. I already turned down any offer Bump gave me when we first met." Luz said.
"Atta' Girl." Eda said, proudly. Alright, you can go ahead."
"Guess I'll see you tomorrow then, Gus."
"Sweet! Thank you, Luz!" Gus said, excitingly. "I can't wait to show you to the crowd and rub it in Mattholomule's face!"
"Take it easy, Gus." Luz told him, making him calm down."
"Right. See you tomorrow!"
Upon arriving to Hexside, Luz made sure she had everything she needed in case things went downhill; her whip, daggers, flasks of holy water, and a few other things Owlbert went out of his way to get her.
"I can't thank Palisman enough." She said to herself as hid everything in her satchel. She then saw Gus and Willow waiting for near the entrance.
"Hey guys." She said to them both. "You ready to do this, Gus?"
"As ready as I'll ever be." He replied. But Willow was looking concerned.
"Just be careful, Luz." She said. "After you're little getaway with the Emperor's Coven, you're technically NOT allowed to be back here."
"Relax, Willow. I have Bump's respect. I'm sure he could let this slide."
"Well, Principal Bump is very by-the-book with these kinds of things, but we'll see how it plays out." Gus replied. "Plus, I took the liberty of removing every wanted poster of you around the school."
"Way to play ahead." Luz said. "Alright, let's do this."
And with that, they headed inside. Willow still wasn't too sure about this, as while the posters were down, there were still other things Luz had to look out for. Such as the new School Guards that had come up after Luz's last arrival. It was not ideal, but the concept of them were that they sniff out trouble rather literally...
"Ah, no! Not detention!" A random student yelled out while being dragged away by a guard.
...And dealt with punishments rather brutally. One guard actually turned toward Gus and Luz as they passed by.
"Yeah, we should probably get out of here." Gus said as he grabbed hold of Lux, but she wouldn't budge.
"I don't think so." And then, the whip came out."
"No, Luz! WAIT-"
But it was too late. As soon as the guard came their way, a crack from the whip echoed throughout the halls of the school and the guard's head fell to the ground before it's body did the same. Then Luz put the whip just as soon as it appeared.
"That was a little excessive, don't you think Luz?" Gus asked. "I mean, do you really have to use that thing every time?"
"Whenever I feel threatened, yes." Luz answered plainly.
"Ah, the stories are true."
The two then turn their attention towards the voice, which came from the kid who was replace Gus himself, Mattholomule. While he had beige skin, dark brown eyes, and straight brown hair which is shaved at the sides, his uniform was that of the Devil Forgemaster's Class, consisting of the colors for the Construction Track on his shirt. Aside from that, judging by the smug look on his face, Luz already didn't like him.
"There really is a Belmont living in the Boiling Isles." He said.
"I wish I could say that it's great that my reputation proceeds me." Luz said. "But that doesn't really seem to be the case."
"Augustus. Out of all the human you could've brought, you decided to bring the one who even Emperor Belos considers a threat."
"Luz happens to be a friend of mine, and Principle Bump tends to favor her. She is more than welcomed into this school and is here to authenticate your treasures."
Mattholomule replied "Oh, I no longer care about that. Now that you've brought the Belmont here, I have a whole new thing to talk about at the meeting."
"What do you mean?" Gus asked.
"You'll find out soon enough." Mattholomule answered. "See you at the meeting."
And as he walked off, Luz said "Well, that doesn't sound ominous at all."
"Well, since we still have some time left before the meeting starts, you want I should give you a tour?" Gus asked.
"Sure." Luz answered as they went off. Luz saw a ton of different things, like the Grudgby pitch, where Skara was carried off by a griffin, the Planet Homeroom, where they saw a Willow help an apple-green haired student by the name of Amelia get out of a plant that tried eat her. They gave her a wave, but Luz could still see the concern in her eyes. And lastly was the Illusion Homeroom, where they could see the class in session. Luz recognized Amity's older siblings inside, with Emira doubling the length of her legs, Edric changes his face, outfit, and hair style, and then a third student accidentally removes their facial features. And it was then that she noticed that Gus was in the classroom while Gus was also standing right next to her...wait, what?
"Is that one of your illusions?" She asked.
"Yep." Gus said. "He takes notes for me while I'm away."
His illusion gasps and holds up a paper reading "I'm not paying attention." He laughs as he points to it.
"Sometimes, they don't what they're told." Gus said. "I'll bet you've seen great illusionists before, Luz."
Luz replied "Not really. Hardly anything I've seen was hardly an illusion, but total demonic entities come to life. Though, there was one person who was able to create duplicates of himself. A famous swordsman, he was."
"Who was it?" But before Gus could get an answer, his watch screamed. "Oh. Looks like it's time for the H.A.S. meeting to start."
"Let's do this then." Luz said as they went off. Gus eyed his illusion, who looked nervous at his creator before starting to pay attention to the class as the two walked away. Later, at the H.A.S. Meeting, the members were banging on their tables, anxious for Gus' presentation.
"Human, human! Human, human!"
"Alright, alright." Gus said, calming down the crowd. Now, Human Appreciation Society... it is my distinct pleasure to introduce to you..."
And then, Luz walked in, looking cool as she combed her hair back with her hand.
"Luz, the human!"
"Sup." Luz said in a calm tone. The members instantly intrigued by her.
"The Belmont..."
"Such showmanship."
"She's horrifying."
Gus and Willow approached the desk while Mattholomule kept a straight face. Luz took notice of that, feeling like he was onto something.
"Now, Luz. Would you be so kind as to examine these items?" Gus asked, but then Mattholomule stood up, saying "No need. I am willing to speak the truth and say that they are all fakes."
The members gasp at this, but Luz and Gus are suspicious.
"But what is true are the facts about you, Belmont."
"What are you getting at?" Luz asked.
"It is not rumor that you're entire bloodline share a dark history. Your family is considered to be so high and mighty, that you look down at peasants as if they were slaves."
The members of the H.A.S. start to talk amongst themselves while Luz strengthened her glare.
"Oh, and that's not all. The Belmonts went to war with other great families in their world, and they used to black magic to do it." Mattholomule continued on. "The Belmonts dealt with wild magic, the Belmont dealt with monsters!"
"The Belmonts FOUGHT monsters, Buddy." Luz growled.
"Oh, don't try to deny it, human. You're kind sold themselves out to a Dark Lord, all so that they could dabble in supernatural forces that weren't meant for human hands. That's why the religious groups of your world were smart enough to see your kind excommunicated from their own lands."
Luz then asked "Where did you hear this from?"
"Doesn't matter." Mattholomule answered. "You can't deny the truth, can you?"
Luz was about to bring out her whip, but Gus gripped her wrist, stopping her.
"It's no wonder why the Emperor's Coven has it out for you more than any other criminal out there. You're an actual threat."
"...I'm leaving. Okay?" Luz said in a low tone. "I'm. Leaving. Now."
Gus looked at her with great concern as she was about to make for the door. But Mattholomule continued to run his mouth.
"You should've never stepped in this school to begin. It's not a secret that you're not welcomed anywhere. In fact..."
Then the new kid did something he was not prepared for as Luz was hit with an extreme force than launched her into the hallway. Everyone was shocked to see that Mattholomule was suddenly holding a hammer in his hands as he walks over to see Luz on the ground, who was suddenly surrounded by school guards.
"Seize her!" He ordered as the guards targeted Luz.
"Belmont detected."
And then, they all came at Luz. Gus tried to fight against Mattholomule as he grabbed at his hammer, but this caused his head to be slammed against the wall as Mattholomule pushed him back no problem. He then walks out of the room, hammer in hand as he then heads towards Luz, who is currently fighting off the guards.
"I think the Emperor will deem me a hero after I kill you!" He yells menacingly. But Luz wasn't effected, as she's been itching for a fight for some time already. Thanks to this guy, she's now able to blow off some steam as she took out the whip and pushed aside the guards surrounding her. And it was then that Mattholomule's hammer glowed in a dark blue flame as he slammed it to the ground. Doing so caused the ground to crack open and bring out stone golems, which Luz recognized as Innocent Devils, given the hug crystals that replace their left arms.
"I love my new class." Mattholomule gloated as he let his creations do all the hard work. Luz has faced a stone golem made from bits of the school and corrupted abomination goo, but these were the real life creations of a Devil Forger. How could a kid like Mattholomule posses such power that only two humans were able to master centuries ago? Questions that most definitely needed to be answered later as she saw fit to teach the new kid a lesson. However, Mattholomule's golems were taking so much from her whip like it was nothing. Luz was forced to dodge giant crystal arms coming her away as shifted back and slid away from the little runt's creations. There had to be some way to crack them open as Luz decided to tap into her magic. This time, it brought another beloved classic to her family's arsenal. Coming out of her hand was a blue cross made of pure energy, which spun and directly each and everyone of the golems before coming back like a boomerang. While they were still standing, the golems were beginning to show cracks.
"If I know these things, they'll take a ton of hits before breaking apart." Luz said to herself before throwing the cross again, three times over. It was enough to do the trick as Mattholomule's creations came apart at the seams. This left the boy distraught before he picked up his hammer and charged at Luz. Luz swung her whip at him, to which he deflected with the hammer as he came in close and started to swing it at the young Belmont. Luz was forced to back up everytime he swung.
"For a short guy, he sure does have some extension."
Seeing her opening, Luz had swung her whip and gave Mattholomule a good crack on hand, making him let go of his hammer, than on the butt for good measure and humiliation. Having grown frustrated, the young devil forger pulled out a dagger and charges at Luz in the intention to fully kill her. When...
"Mattholomule, CEASE."
That deep voice was enough for both kids to turn their heads to see Principle Bump and Hexside's newest Teacher, Desu, neither of them looking happy.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Bump yelled at them both. Luz had put away her whip as she was about to explain what is going on. But Mattholomule had unfortunately spoken up first.
"I had caught this intruder, the infamous Belmont Child, in our school! So I saw fit to dispose of her, personally. No need to thank me, Principal Bump and Master Desu."
But instead of thanking him, Desu raised his hand and gave a mean slap right across Mattholomule's face, knocking the boy down. This left him shocked as he saw his teacher towering over and staring down at him, making the boy feel smaller than he already is.
"You step out of line, child." Desu said in a threat tone. "Abusing my teachings like this...will not be tolerated."
Principal Bump steps in, saying "I'll see to it that the boy has a long stay in detention."
"No...I'll see to my own pupil's punishment...personally." Desu said as he grabbed Mattholomule by his hair and dragged him away while the poor tried to fight back. Now with that settled, Principal Bump focused on Luz, who looked ready to take responsibility for her actions. But then, Bump said.
"This is not how I wished to've seen you again, Ms. Belmont." Principal Bump. "Why are you here?"
"...I was accompanying Augustus Porter for H.A.S. Meeting." Luz explained. "Things took a turn for the worse when I met that guy."
Bump paused before saying "Well, as long as no harm was done, I suppose I can let this slide."
"I thought for sure I'd be unwanted here due to the bounty on my head."
"Rest assured, Hexside will always be safe for you." Bump said. "And of course, my offer still stands for you to be enrolled into the school."
Luz replied "Tempting, but that's not what I'm here for. I better go check on Gus, I'll see later Principal."
"Of course. Farewell." Bump said to Luz as she headed back to check up on Luz. But upon doing so, did she fail to notice Bump look down at his wrist. Not the one with the abomination sigil on it, but the one where Cross symbol was on it. He looked back at Luz, who along side Willow was helping Gus back on his feet, and smirked while nodding his head.
"...For the Order."
Mattholomule sat on a chair looking down as Desu towered over him.
"I-I know that I went to far." He said. "This new magic. I-It's gotten the best of me. I didn't mean to-"
"You did well." Desu said, interrupting yet surprising the boy.
"W-What?"
"Never before have I seen such mastery over this power, over your creations." Desu went on. "You, along side a few others, have such great potential. and you have made me very proud."
"R-Really?" Mattholomule said, caught off guard.
"Yes. But I don't wish of you to act that way again. For now, everything must fall into place. For the coming day...is inevitable."
"What does that mean?" The kid asked.
"You'll find out some time later." Desu answered. "For now on, simply focus on your studies. Maybe someday, will you serve greatness."
"Under the Emperor?"
Desu smirked, saying "Greater than that."
Back at the house, Eda was looking through her pages of her permanent record. It includes letting loose a pack of feral ghosts in the girls' locker room, starting an abomination food fight at lunch, hexing the school bells to play pop songs, letting in "two giant bug-things" that destroyed classrooms, and feeding the school griffin spicy snacks until it threw up over the Grudgby field.
"Wow. You were a terrible student." Luz said, surprising Eda as she didn't know that she was there.
"What the-?! When did you get back?!" Eda yelled.
"Five seconds ago."
"Right..." Eda said. "So, how was the H.A.S. meeting?"
"A lot more than I can handle, honestly." Luz answered. "Ran into one of the new students of the Devil Forging Class."
It surprised Eda when she brought up that forbidden form of magic. "Devil Forging? They're teaching it over there?! Crap! ...30 years and NOW, things start to get interested over there!"
"I'm planning on checking out this class later." Luz said as walks up towards the stairs. "I feel things like things are gonna take a turn for the worse..."
I figured Mattholomule would be a great choice for being one of Desu's students. Sadly, Luz will not be enrolling into Hexside in this story, as she already got the old travel book from Bump before and that's all she's getting for now. Also, making Bump a secret member to the Brotherhood of Light seemed like a good idea at the time. I understand if you won't like it. If you have any ideas for what should be included next in the later chapters, I'm all ears. I plan to spend a lot more time on this story. So I hope you like what's coming.
