"If I hadn't seen the real thing myself with my own eyes, I'd say that's is the real Gáe Bulg in your hands." The man continue'd, his smirk never leaving. "And judging on how you're holding your fake Gáe Bulg, I'd even say you know exactly how to use it as well."
Pumping his mana into the spear, an aura began to engulf around Gáe Bulg's spear head. While the spear head itself didn't change, the aura around it seemed to form into seven smaller spear heads heads, each with seven barbs sticking out. "Answer my question. Who are you? And how did you get into my home?"
The intruder's smirk shifted into a wide grin and he stood up. Suddenly 12 wings exploded out from his back as Daniel watched on in horror. '12 wings... Shit, this just got a lot more complicated. I might not even stand a chance of surviving against him, let alone winning.'
The intruder then brought his right hand in front of his body as he lightly bowed at Daniel. "My name is Azazel, the Governor General of the Grigori. Leader of the Fallen Angels of Heaven." Azazel informed Daniel. "And as for how I got in. Well, I just simply walked in through the front door."
After a few seconds of silence, Daniel asked the only question he thought would keep him alive for a bit longer. "Would you like a drink?"
The Born Again Fate of DxD - Chapter 4: Dealing with a Fallen
(Tuesday 10h April - Evening)
It had been a while since Daniel and Azazel had started talking. It wasn't long after the drinks were poured out, that two men begun to laugh and share stories with one another. "So you're telling me that the Sisters back in your old home drunk how much!?" Azazel asked out loud, his face showing a mixture of shock and humour.
"I'm not joking, those sisters of Nazareth House may have been some of the kindest elderly ladies you'll ever meet. But they could drink any man under the table haha!" Daniel laughed out as he took a sip of Magners. It was an Irish Cider that he had bought from an Irish pub in Shibuya City just outside of Kuoh.
It was the only place where he was able to by a large amount of his favourite alcoholic drink.
"Sounds you attempted it yourself." Azazel replied with a knowing grin as he sipped from his glass of Bushmills Whiskey.
"Oh, I failed." Daniel replied with a grin of his own. "I was once a cocky know it all 18 year old too y'know. Thought I could take on the world!.. Turns out those women will be the only ones who truly terrify me in this world. God only knows what they would do to me if they knew I was living in the same town as Devils. Let alone dating one." Daniel replied before he put he glass down to look over at the Governor General.
"So what brings you over to me?" Daniel asked.
"I've heard that you recently killed a former member of the Grigori. His name was Dohnaseek." Azazel stated.
"Yes, I'm not going to lie to you, but he was attempting to murder one of my students." Daniel answered back as he took a sip. "Doesn't matter if my student was a Devil or not. I wasn't going to sit back and watch him do it. He seems like the type of guy that would keep trying to kill him, even if he was talked down the first time."
"You're not wrong... I'm sorry about that. But his group is the reason that I'm here." Azazel sighed before he continued. "Recently four members of the Grigori have been active in this Town without my orders or permission."
"Since you have already dealt with one I cannot take any action myself other than what I'm doing right now. Our current peace is fragile and I'd like to keep the peace going, so I cannot take any direct actions myself in this town. Nor can I inform the Devils about this either, as they wouldn't believe me."
"So I've come to you." Azazel's attention shifted from his glass towards Daniel. "Because of their actions, it pains my heart to say this but... As of this moment, they are no longer associated with the Grigori."
Azazel placed a scroll on the counter-top and pushed it towards Daniel. "That scroll is written proof of what I've just told you, in case your girlfriend or the other two Devils ask you any questions."
"Sera's not gonna be asking any questions." Daniel denied with a wave of his hand.
"Ah, young love. You're really smitten with her aren't you." Azazel stated with a shit eating grin as he pointed at him.
"I aint gonna deny it." Daniel replied back with his own smirk.
"I can't believe I told you all this though..." Daniel though sighed in annoyance at the end.
"Don't look at it this way. Look it as making new friends... You know what! We should go fishing together!" Azazel stated out as if a light bulb flashed on the top of his head.
'Why do I get the feeling our friendship is going to be like Archer and Lancer or some other odd couple.' Daniel groaned at Azazel excitement as he opened another bottle.
"With my luck I'd end up catching a Shark, and die after being eaten from said Shark." Daniel deadpanded as he lightly chuckled.
"It won't be like that! Fishing between two men is a great dream that all men share!" Azazel exclaimed as he held his glass into the air.
"Yeah... Not this guy." Daniel drily chuckled in response to Azazel's antics. 'I'm getting the feeling that leaders of the other factions are also fucking nuts as this guy is.'
"Come on, lighten up." Azazel chuckled in response to Daniel's comments. "Come on, tell me more about this lovely girlfriend of yours!"
"I get the feeling that you're not going to be letting this subject go are you?" Daniel asked with a raised eyebrow.
He looked over to find that shit eating grin on Azazel's face. Sighing in annoyance Daniel responded. "From what's she's told me, her life as an actress can be tough." Daniel stated out as he stretched his arms. Once he mentioned actress though, Azazel's eyes widened but this was missed entirely by Daniel.
"However, as Sera knows, there are only two things I won't ever tell her. Both I am to taking with me to the grave, but I still trust her with my life... She's the only person who I've ever shown my Reality Marble to." Daniel softly stated with caused Azazel's eyebrow to rise.
"Oh, a Reality Marble? What's that?" The Governor General asked which caused Daniel to flinch slightly.
'Shit! Did I say that out loud?' Daniel internally screamed out. "That one's for me to know, and for you to never find out." Daniel replied back as he finished his glass.
"So it's what you call your penis then?.. Interesting." Azazel looked at Daniel in a thoughtful pose.
"Hey, back off ya prev! Geez, your actually worse than the kid!" Daniel snapped at Azazel, a heavy blush on his cheeks. 'And that's not something I'd thought I'd ever say.'
"So what do you want me to do with these wayward Fallen Angels?" Daniel asked in hopes of changing the subject, a blush still attached to his face.
"If possible I'd like for you to bring them back to me, alive if possible." Azazel informed the Mage.
"I can't promise that out all three will return to you. It depends on how they react to what your orders are. However the one who killed my student, Yuuma Amano. I'll let the kid decide her fate." Daniel replied back at Azazel as the Governor General stood up from his seat.
"I understand." Azazel stated back as he made his way over towards the front door. "I'll make sure to compensate you for your work."
"You can keep your money." Daniel called out to the Governor General causing him to stop in his tracks. "I'm not a Mercenary... I'm nothing more than a Teacher looking out for his Students."
"Your an admirable man, Daniel." Azazel smiled as he opened the front door. But before he left he turned around to face Daniel once more. "Oh, I just remembered. I have intel that a former Nun will be arriving in this town this time, next week. Please only intervene when the young Gremory girl decides to."
"Can't make any promises, but I'll try." Daniel replied as he looked over at Azazel who nodded back in thanks.
With his final words said Azazel left Daniel's home. With the Governor General gone, Daniel sighed out in relief. Looking up at the clock above the cooker in his Kitchen, he noticed the time was currently just after 11PM. They had been talking for over 3 hours.
'I might have some time for training before I get some sleep.' Daniel thought to himself as he stood up. Moving towards the cupboard under his stairs, Daniel opened the door and activated a switch.
A hidden panel opened up to reveal a spiral staircase. It took Daniel roughly 5 minutes to reach the bottom an entered the hidden base underneath his home that Sera had built for him. This room was his training room.
The room itself looked like it was barren arena. From above the artificial lights above shined down to reveal a perfectly square room. 100 Meters by 100 Meters by 100 Meters. In the centre of the room there was a red circle. Standing inside of it, Daniel raised his right hand. Upon closing his eyes he called out. "I am, the Bone of my Sword."
"Trace, Overload!"
(Tuesday 17h April - Afternoon)
It had been over a week since Azazel's visit to his home, and since then Daniel has kept his word and has not hunted down any of the three Fallen Angels. And if Azazel's information was correct then Asia should've run into Issei this morning before school started.
Entering the Old School house, Daniel was slowly making his way up towards the ORC's room. As he passed the darkened corridor, Daniel paused and tried to see if he could feel the dark and overwhelming power. But like his last visit, he could not feel anything. 'Maybe it was a one off thing.' Daniel thought to himself before he continued on his way.
As Daniel arrived late to the ORC he was surprised to find that Rias was scolding Issei. "Am I clear Issei?" Rias asked in a demanding tone.
"Yes Buchou." Issei meekly responded as he remained on his knees before he noticed that his Sensei had entered the room.
"It's about time you showed up." Rias attempted to scold Daniel, but the mage just simply rolled his eyes at her.
"Sorry but I had a Faculty Meeting before I could arrive here." Daniel drily replied as he sat down on the right Sofa. As he took out a book, he noticed Koneko's glare once more was on him. "What's wrong?"
"That's Kiba's spot." Koneko replied as Daniel looked back at Koneko with a raised eyebrow.
"You don't seem to like me, do you? Daniel bluntly stated to the small white haired devil.
"Deal with it" Koneko drily responded as she continued to glare at Daniel.
'What's her problem?' Daniel thought to himself as he pulled out a book and began reading. "Anyway, what the hell was Issei doing that pissed you off?" Daniel asked.
Rias looked over at a nervous Issei before sighing. "Issei here helped out a Nun this morning. I was just warning him to stay clear of the church."
Daniel shrugged in response as he turned a page. "Yeah... That wasn't a smart move kid." Daniel stated as Issei kept his head down.
"The Church has a lot of exorcists, and all of them are dangerous to Devils." Daniel informed Issei as he turned to face Rias.
"But Rias you also need to be reminded that some can be friendly and will only attack if attacked first, I would know, I was raised by some." Daniel stated at Rias with caused the Devils present to flinch.
Knowing he probably have to calm them down now, Daniel attempted to clarify at bit better. "And for your information the Church can suck it for all I care. I was raised in an orphanage run by the Catholic Church. I hated most of my carers. The feared what I was, and because of that I was never adopted. They didn't want the pagan freak to gain a family. I left there loving care when I was 18."
"Only four Nuns ever cared about me, Sister Carmen García, Sister Alana Devlin and the twins Sister Chloe and Zoe Doherty . They were the only ones who'd even see me as human. And they were the scariest women I've ever meet." A cold shiver ran up Daniel's spine as he remembered the four elderly women who looked after him as a child.
"They were the one who trained me and my brother to use our abilities." Daniel stated out, once more turning another page.
"Your brother?" Kiba asked.
"Not blood related, but we grew up together though so we became blood brothers. We were even given the same surname. He had a Scared Gear though so they were training him to become an exorcist." Daniel replied as he closed his book and started laughing lightly. "He'd probably laugh at me if he seen me now."
'It was a nice memory to gain since I never had a brother in my old life. I wonder what he's doing now though.' Daniel thought to himself as he continue'd chuckling.
"What's his name?" Rias asked as she gained Daniel's attention.
"It's Killian Cole, and he's a month younger than me." Upon telling them his brothers, he noticed that none of the Devils seemed to react. Which to Daniel was a good sign, he hadn't gotten himself into much trouble with devils yet.
"We always fought as kids but he was my best friend growing up." Daniel replied with a wide smirk as he noticed Akeno arrive into the room. Rias' reaction though was of concern due to Akeno's expression. "Akeno, did something happen?"
Akeno nodded her head as she replied. "We received an order for a hunt from the Arch Duke. We've been tasked with dealing with a nearby Stray Devil."
Daniel raised an eyebrow as Rias started to prepare herself "Well good luck kids. Knock'em dead." Daniel stated out as he pulled out a book to read.
"You're not coming with us?" Issei asked. Looking over to Rias he noticed her shrugging in response.
"Naw kid." Daniel replied as he looked up from his book. "This is Devil business and not part of my agreement of being this Club's Staff Adviser. Have fun!" Daniel replied with a smile as he waved the members of the ORC as they disappeared through a formula seal.
(Thursday 19th April - Afternoon)
"As Daniel didn't have any classes for his last period, he decided to get a head start and make his way over to the ORC room. As he arrived he noticed it was only Rias, who appeared to be deep in thought.
"Penny for you thoughts." Daniel stated out, getting the girls attention.
"Huh?" Rias responded as her thoughts were broken. She look over to find Daniel smirking at her.
"Daydreaming I see." Daniel responded as he took a seat.
"I'm planning for something that's about to happen tonight." Rias stated she stood up. "However I can't help but think everything will go smoother if I brought you along."
"Are you going after the Fallen Angels?" Daniel asked catching Rias off guard once more. However before Rias could answer, he handed her the scroll Azazel gave him over a week ago.
"What's this? These are recall orders." Rias growled out as he read the scroll's contents. "Where did you get this!?"
"These were given to me by the Governor General of the Grigori, Azazel." Daniel informed Rias as he leaned against a wall. "I was recent;y hired by him."
"And you just decided to follow his orders and listen to him!" Rias shouted at Daniel in anger. "Do you have any idea how dangerous that is?!"
"You think that I don't know that Princess!" Daniel snapped back at Rias, shocking her into silence. "The man walked, WALKED right into my home! I didn't even know he was there! He could've killed me easily and I would've been none the wiser!"
Daniel calmed down slightly as he continued. "The scary part Rias is that I know that if we fought, I'd die. Even if I went all out. He had me dead to rights, if it kept me alive even for a bit longer I had to at least hear him out. Turns out though, he's not a bad guy."
"Just a bigger perv than Issei believe it or not." Daniel silently grumbled the last part so Rias couldn't hear.
"What did he say?" Rias asked in a soft tone.
"He said that the four Fallen Angels who arrived in this town have been in this town without his orders or permission. And as such he's stated that they are no longer associated with the Grigori." Daniel replied. "But he wants me to offer his former subordinates a chance back. I said that I would try but didn't promise. He asked me not to hunt them down until you made a move on them."
"Do you believe him?" Rias asked as she leaned forwards onto his hands.
Daniel thought about what Rias meant in her question before he answered. "He sounded sincere so I believe what he said. Besides if he didn't want my help, I'm pretty sure I'd be dead or at least being experimented on."
"I understand. I don't like this but I understand what you've done." Rias stated as Daniel moved himself from the wall he was leaning on.
"So what's your plan?" Daniel asked.
"Right now. We wait for what Akeno will tell me. She's currently watching Issei." Rias explained as they both began to wait.
(Evening)
As the trio of Akeno, Daniel and Rias made there way towards the abandoned church just outside of Kuoh, Daniel decided to ask a question that had been on his mind for a week or so. "Out of curiosity, do you have any clue why Koneko hates me so much?" Daniel asked Rias who looked at apprehensive. Akeno on the other hand just kept her usual smile.
"She said that it's your smell that triggered her." Rias informed Daniel who looked at the red haired devil in confusion.
"My smell? What about it?" Daniel asked as he sniffed his armpit, hoping it wasn't anything foul.
"She says you smelt of Steel, Fire along with Demonic and Holy Magic. She believes you're a Devil Hunter." Rias nervously informed Daniel who looked at her like a fish out of water would, before he burst out laughing.
"Hahahahaha... Oh that's a good one." Daniel stated out as he wiped away a tear from his eye. "I aint a Devil Hunter, I aint like Killian. And if I was one, I don't think Sera would've allowed me anywhere near Sona or you for that matter."
"Myself and Buchou both said the same to her, but appears to be adamant that is what you are." Akeno informed Daniel.
"So what do you think he reaction will be when I begin training her. Or I'm guessing that she's not gonna be getting the same treatment as Issei or is that out of the question?" Daniel asked Rias as the two devils looked back at him oddly.
"Why are you offering to train Koneko as well as Issei?" Rias asked.
"Well, I just thought that since I'm training the kid from this weekend onward, the same deal was offered to each member of your peerage." Daniel stated as he rubbed his neck.
Rias and Akeno smiled at each other before Akeno moved over to grab Daniel's arm, pressing her chest against hi as she done so. "My, my Sensei. What are you planning on teaching your students?" Akeno asked in a sultry tone.
The answer she received was a flick to her forehead from Daniel. "It'll be nothing like that. Please keep your mind out of the gutter while around me. Issei and recently Azazel have been enough as it is." Daniel deadpanned in response as he push away the young queen.
"I see you like to give out punishment... I like that. But it's only fair I get to punish you as well." Akeno replied, not even phased by Daniel's rebuttal just moments ago.
Daniel rolled his eyes and looked over towards Rias. "Is she always like this?"
"Well, she is the biggest sadist I know. So yeah, pretty much." Rias replied with a smirk as Akeno grabbed Daniel's arm once more.
"Hey, let go of me woman!" Daniel growled out as he attempted to push Akeno away from him.
But soon a voice spoke out to them, cutting their banter and gaining there attention. "Well, well, well. It appears we have two devils and a human walking around the woods in the middle of the night. Looks like you've got some rotten luck."
Looking back Daniel noticed two figures in the tree above. The the one who spoke was a tall and buxom filled woman with long navy blue hair. Her hair appeared to be covering her right eye leaving her brown left eye exposed.
Her outfit consisted of a Maroon blazer with a matching miniskirt, and Black heeled shoes. The blazer was buttoned closed, however she wore nothing else underneath giving the trio present a clear view of her cleavage.
"Yeah Kalawarner, talk about having no luck, And just when we're about to perform our super top secret mission as well." The other girl stated out as she place her hands on her hips.
The girl stood out a lot more as she had blonde hair with blue eyes. Her outfit was a Black Lolita dress with White frills, White thigh-high socks and Black shoes. To complete her appearance, she also wore a large Black bow on top of her pig-tailed hair.
"Hey there, my name's Mittelt and this is my sexy and lovely assistant Kalawarner. We're gonna kill you three now." Mittelt called out as curtsied before winking at the trio.
"Quiet Mittelt!" The taller Fallen shouted out in annoyance. "You really are a stupid little girl!"
"Well, if it makes you feel any better we already know what you're planning." Rias stated out with a smug look on her face.
"WHAT!?" Both Kalawarner and Mittelt shouted out, there eyes bulging out slightly.
"As the owner of this territory, did you really think four Fallen ones could simply walk in without me knowing about it?" Rias asked with a smug look n her face.
"So it was you who killed Dohnaseek!" Kalawarner screamed out in rage.
"Actually it wasn't Buchou." Akeno stated out with her usual smile. "If fact it wasn't even a Devil who killed your friend."
The two Fallen Angels looked at the Devils in confusion before they slowly turned to face Daniel. In response Daniel smiled and waved at them. "Good evening." Daniel spoke out in English.
"Why and how could a pathetic human like you manage to kill him!?" Mittelt demanded.
"He got what was coming to him and he under estimated his opponent. I'd be doing the same thing to you two as well, but I have orders." Daniel stated out before throwing the scroll towards Kalawarner.
"What the fuck is this!?" Kalawarner scowled as she asked Daniel.
"That scroll is a recall order coming directly from Azazel himself. I've been asked to politely order you two to stand down and return to the Grigori." Daniel answered. "The two Devils here, have accompanied me here to ensure that you follow those orders without question."
The two Fallen Angels looked at one another before summoning their wings. The flew up high into the air, raising their hands as they done so. Suddenly the sky above was filled with Yellow and Pink Light Spears, ready to be fired down upon the trio below.
"So I take this as a no to your orders from Azazel." Daniel stated out as he sighed in annoyance. 'Reinforce.' Daniel mentally ordered as he readied himself for a fight.
"Akeno, get ready!" Rias ordered out as she watched the Light Spears above them.
"There's no need." Daniel calmly replied.
"What do you mean there's no need?" Rias asked with a raised eyebrow. "There's quite a lot of them up there."
"Oh, I know." Daniel replied with a grin. "Still not enough to concern me though, so relax."
"Not enough to concern you? Well for a useless human you sure do talk a big game." Mittelt stated out with a feral grin.
"Perhaps then this will change his mind." Kalawarner followed as she brought her hands down, signalling the firing of the Light Spears.
"Rho Aias!" Daniel shouted out as he raised his hand. In front of him a seven petalled flower which appeared to be made of plasma was formed. Rias and Akeno smugly looked at each other as the shield of plasma protected them.
As each of the hundred of Light Spears shattered upon impact, the two Fallen Angels were gritting their teeth in anger. "You bastard."
"I'm giving you both one last chance. Surrender now or I will destroy you both." Daniel coldly stated out as he glared at the two Fallen Angels above him.
"Sorry, but as much as it pains me, we don't take our orders from Azazel anymore." Kalawarner replied to Daniel as she narrowed her eyes at him.
"Well at least I tried." Daniel softly groaned out in annoyance before he brought out a piece of paper with a pink formula on it.
'Looks like I get a chance to use Sera's gift. I'm putting a lot of trust in her right now.' Daniel thought to himself as he stood on Sera's formula seal. 'This better not be a male version of a magical girl costume.'
As the light engulfed Daniel's body, the two devils and Fallen Angels looked away. When the light fade they noticed that Daniel's outfit had changed.
He was now in a wearing a combo of Black suit trousers, Black waist coat and Black tie on a Grey shirt that had it's sleeves rolled up showing the command seal on his right forearm. On his hands were Black finger-less leather glove. He was also wearing a pair of black sport boots.
On the waist coat itself there was an embroidered copy of his command seal in the same red colour. It hugged onto the left side of the waist coat. Daniel guessed that Sera was using the command seal as a personal emblem of some kind, and felt that it was a nice touch.
"Well." Daniel voice called out as he push his hair back, away from his forehead. "It looks like I owe Sera a huge favour." Daniel smirked as he lifted his left hand.
"Hey no fair! I wasn't told we could wear costumes to this fight!" Mittelt complained as she began to stamp her foot onto the air below her.
"Trace on." Summoning a weapon to his raised hand, Daniel kept his eyes on the two Fallen Angels. As the blue light faded what remained in Daniel's hand was appeared to be a simple sheathed katana. The scabbard was plain black with a blue sageo wrapped around it. The blade's handle was wrapped in white, while the guard that was shaped like a hexagon with two trapezoidal halves was gold in colour.
Bringing the blade upwards to the side of his face, Daniel grinned as he used his thumb to slightly unsheathe the blade. A sudden and powerful burst of power cut through the tension in the air instantly. It only lasted for a brief moment but it's effect of the the power radiating off the blade itself was still showing on the four as Daniel fully sheathed it once more.
"This blade is called Honjō Masamune, and while it might not be sentient like it's original. It'll do the job here." Daniel's grin became wider as he slowly turned and placed his right hand over the blade's handle.
Slowly drawing the blade out from it's scabbard, the blade shined out brightly in the darkness. Showing that it was polished and sharpened to perfection. Placing his right foot in front of his body, Daniel brought the blade up with his right hand before leaning back onto his back left foot.
With the blade slowly being brought back as well, Daniel rested his open left hand onto the blade's pommel. The grin he flaunted showed the two Fallen Angel's his confidence. "So, are we fighting or not?"
The two Fallen didn't verbally reply to him as they growled out in anger. "Let's dance."
And Cut!
For those who are wondering I have based the imagine and design of the Honjō Masamune on the Yamato blade from DMC. It won't have the same abilities as the Yamato. It's just for appearance sake.
This chapter's Q&A!
1) Will Daniel be dying in this story? Spoiler Question so you won't get a serious answer. But sadly yes he will. And to Quote TomSka, You're gonna die, We're all gonna die, Ooh, a butterfly! lol.
2) Is Daniel going to remain human? This has been commented a lot in the reviews and a few IM's I've been getting. It's only the start, don't expect Daniel to be blasting out fucking ultimate moves left and right. Yes I know that as the show progresses the power level does as well. that happens in every anime and story. This is no different. so I can only ask for a bit of patience lol.
3) Where is Satan Class after ultimate class? There are only 3 super devils Rivezim, Sirzechs and Ajuka so why the fuck Serafall is there? The reason Serafall is ranked level 12 and above Grayfia is simply because she defeated her to gain the rank of Leviathan. And Satan class wasn't needed because they are ranked as the top 10 strongest. So relax guy... It's fanfiction. Small changes are made all the times on this site. It's not like I'm writing the actual canon.
4) Does Daniel still have Excalibur's scabbard in him? Avalon is not part of Daniel sorry.
5) Does Gaia or Ayala effect Daniel's magic? Not in the world of Highschool DxD. Different world, Different Rules.
