"What's the name?"
"Kokabiel." Daniel's answer caused Azazel to sigh in annoyance.
"I should've known." Azazel grumbled in response before he looked over towards Daniel. "Thank you for the help in this."
"It's fine." Daniel answered as he closed his eyes.
"I'm just glad this is all over with now." Daniel continued as he looked back over to Azazel. But he was no longer there. Looking around in every direction there was no site of the Governor General.
"Motherfucker just pulled a Batman on me... Huh." Daniel chuckled as he walked back to Issei and the rest of Rias' peerage.
The Born Again Fate of DxD - Chapter 6: Spoilt Party
(Sunday 22nd April - Noon)
When Issei and Asia arrived at Daniel's home for training, he was surprised to see what he was wearing as he was currently fixing his car in his garage. A grey wife-beater vest and black jogger trousers at ended just under his knee.
But what shocked him more were the two tattoos he seen. The first to catch his eye was over his Sensei's left shoulder. At first Issei thought it looked like a Samoan tribal marking but it was instead a giant Celtic knot. The second tattoo was on his right calf. It was an image of a perched Owl. The two totally didn't match the markings on his right arm at all as they were black in colour and not red like his mark.
"Uhm Sensei." Issei called out getting Daniel's attention.
Daniel upon hearing his student's voice perked up from the Car's engine and looked over at Issei with a raised eyebrow. "So, you finally turned up." Daniel stated as he grabbed a towel to dry his hands. "Y'know that you both were meant to come here yesterday and didn't show up. I don't like having my time wasted."
Issei sheepishly looked away in shame as Daniel glared down at him. "Sorry Sensei, it's just Asia moved in with me and my parents yesterday. My parents were worried she might get lost in town so I showed her around yesterday."
"I'm sorry, it's my fault." Asia also apologised causing Daniel to sigh.
"Right, I suppose I'll let you both get away with it this time. Just don't let it happen again without at least telling me." Daniel replied as he rubbed his forehead. "Come on, Let's get some lunch before we begin your training Issei."
"Am I not training as well?" Asia innocently asked in confusion.
"In a way you will be. You'll be healing Issei up once I'm done with him." Daniel replied with a smirk that caused Issei to flinch.
Ignoring Issei's attempts at protesting, Daniel lead the two kids into his home. Asia gasped out in amazement as she seen the open planned downstairs. As Daniel moved over towards his cooker.
Issei and Asia watched on in amazement as they watch their Sensei cook Omurice. He made it look so effortless. However this wasn't a skill he had gained from Archer or Shioru Emiya. Since he never gained their ability to cook, Daniel cheated. If he ate anything he liked and wanted to cook for himself or Sera, he used Structural Analysis to figure how it was done.
It took some trial and error at first, but after a while Daniel has perfected cooking at least a dozen recipes. Omurice was Sera's suggestion, he thought it was cliche but didn't question it. If Sera wanted it, Sera got it as far as he was concerned.
As he placed two plates in front of Issei and Asia, he put down a bottle of ketchup in front of them. Issei noticed that he didn't have any chopsticks out, but instead had spoons out. Issei then remembered that both Asia and Sensei weren't Japanese so didn't comment on it.
However it seemed Daniel picked up on his hesitation and smirked at the kid. "Eat up now, and would you prefer to use chopsticks Issei?" Daniel asked.
"Are you sure? I don't mind either way." Issei replied as Daniel handed over a spare pair he kept for guests.
"It's fine... It won't be the first time you'll be seeing that Omurice." Daniel replied as he began eating his own food.
'What does he mean by that?' Issei thought to himself after he heard his Sensei's words. 'Maybe he's cooking it later or something?'
Asia meanwhile was too entranced by the food to notice what was being said, otherwise she would've at least warned Issei.
After they had finished eating, the two students were shocked that their Sensei opened a secret panel. Stars appeared in both of their eyes as it revealed to them a spiral staircase. When ever they entered the lit up training area they both exclaimed out loud.
"Glad to see you like it. Sera created this for me to spar and train with our Magic safely. So this room's built for punishment." Daniel replied as he put out both his hands. "Trace on." Creating two short European swords.
As Daniel rested them on his shoulders as he looked over at Issei. "You ready?"
Activating his Sacred Gear, Issei got down into a ready stance. "Ready when you are Sensei."
However he wasn't expecting Daniel to sigh out in annoyance. "Turn off your Sacred Gear kid. I'm training you, not your Sacred Gear."
Issei seemed stumped along with Asia. However he done what Daniel had asked him to do. "So, what are you going to be training me in then? Is it sword work?"
Daniel chuckled lightly as he shook his head. "No kid, you're a brawler not a swordsman. So instead I'll be teaching you how to dodge."
"Dodge?" Issei asked in confusion.
However he never got a verbal reply as Daniel rushed at him. "DODGE!" Swinging the right wooden short sword down, Issei just barely managed to roll out of the way in time.
"Your Sacred Gear boosts your body's power every ten seconds." Daniel informed Issei who began to slowly inch himself away from him. "There's no point in getting your Sacred Gear stronger. It's your body that we need to work on. If it's naturally stronger, your Sacred Gear will boost your power to higher in a much shorter time so it'll also become more powerful naturally as well."
"So by increasing your Natural strength and reflexes above what they currently are, should make you into a better wielder for your Sacred Gear." Daniel finished as he began to chuckle.
"But do you want to hear something funny kid?" Daniel asked with a smile.
"What is it?" Issei asked in slight fear.
Issei and Asia flinched as they heard Daniel's grip on one of his short swords tighten. An audible crack was heard as the wood split. "I've heard you've been peaking recently. It was the Archery Club this time I believe."
"Ca... Can we talk about this?" Issei asked in desperation as he noticed his Sensei's eyes glow red.
"Get dodging." Daniel growled out as Issei yelped out in fear.
"Goo... Good luck Issei." Asia weakly tried to reassure Issei, however the aura surrounded Daniel caused her to doubt that she could help much.
After several gruelling hours of training completed, Issei remembered Daniel's earlier words. They rang true as he did indeed see his Omurice once more... In Sensei's bathroom after training.
(Monday 23rd April - Morning)
As Daniel arrived inside the rowdy classroom he slammed his hand on his desk to get their attention. "Alright calm down."
The classroom settled as Daniel leaned forward. "There's a few things that I've been asked to address to you all for this week, but before we get into that we have a new student joining our class today."
Daniel's announcement to the class brought everyone to their feet in excitement. All for different reasons. Boys cried out in hope it was a she and that she was attractive. While the girls done to opposite. "Alright shut it!" Daniel shouted out getting everyone back to their seats.
"Okay, you can come in now." Daniel called out. As the door opened Issei's eyes widened as Asia stepped into his classroom.
Standing in front of the class, Daniel wrote Asia's name on the chalkboard. "Hello, my name is Asia Argento. I've recently move here to Kuoh. I hope we can become friends."
As Asia smiled to the class it caused an another explosion of excitement.
"Oh my gosh, she's so cute!"
"I love her hair!"
"Yes, another hot girl's in our class!"
"She's adorable!"
But this all came to an abrupt stop when Asia stated. "Oh, hi Issei!"
Issei felt very small as all eyes in the room glared at him with hatred. "Alright, alright, cut that shit out!" Daniel called out, slamming his hands down once more.
"How is it you know the Perv, Asia?" One of the girls asked out loud.
"Well, it's because I'm living with him." While Asia thought that her answer was innocent, Issei felt otherwise as his two friends violently grabbed him as started to shake him.
"Issei, you bastard!"
"You're dead to me!" Matsuda and Motohama both exclaimed out as they cried tears of anger. But they were both knocked off Issei when two chalkboard erasers hit them square on their heads.
"I said settle down! You can attempt to kill the perv in your own time. Don't even think of doing it during my homeroom class. Got it!?" Daniel growled out, getting the classes attention once more. 'This is starting to get annoying.'
"Asia signed up to study here as a foreign exchange student. Issei's parents agreed to become her sponsors for her stay in Japan." Daniel informed the classroom as Asia nodded in agreement as it was her cover story Rias came up with.
"Umm. Dan, I mean Cole-Sensei can I sit near Issei?" Asia asked as she corrected herself.
"Sure, take the free seat just behind him." Daniel informed Asia who politely bowed and made her way towards her seat.
"Alright so we have two other announcements from the Principal to announce for you." Daniel stated out as he continued out his Homeroom class. "The first is that the date for this year's Open House has been confirmed for the 22nd of June."
The class sounded a bit excited for this news as Daniel continued. "The second announcement is that today you'll be picking your class presidents for the remainder of Homeroom."
Another eruption of excitement came over the class however Daniel wasn't finished. "The only one exempt from this will be students already presidents of their Clubs and Asia since she's new. We don't want to overwhelm the girl on her first day."
The class nodded in agreement as Daniel handed out a small piece of paper to each member. "I'll give you five minutes to decide who you want to vote for. Most of you have all known each other for a year so it's no excuse if you don't vote. Only Asia can use that excuse. And no voting for yourselves either. I don't wanna pick one like I had to last year."
Sitting back at the front of the class, Daniel watched on as his students voted. 'This is gonna be a long year.'
(Afternoon)
As Daniel made his way into the ORC room Rias was surprised to see him there. "What brings you here Sensei?" Rias asked in confusion.
"Well seeing as it was Asia's first full day I wanted to know how she got on." Daniel replied as he leaned against the open window. "A bit weird seeing the blinds open."
"I thought it would be something different. It's nice seeing the room naturally lit." Rias stated as he drank from her cup of tea.
"Beats the Gothic vibe for sure." Daniel commented as Rias glared at him. "What? Say that I was wrong." Daniel replied with a shrug.
"Well it seems you picked a good day to visit us." Rias stated as she attempted to change the conversation to a different subject.
"Oh? How's that?" Daniel asked with a raised eyebrow.
"We're going to be having a party to welcome Asia today." Rias replied with a smile on her face.
Daniel blinked for a few seconds before he replied. "That's nice."
'Did this happen in the show? It's been over 9 years since I seen it so maybe.' Daniel thought to himself as he pulled out a book he had been reading for a few days in an attempt occupy himself while we waited.
"What is it you're reading?" Rias asked.
Caught off by Rias' question, Daniel looked a little sheepish as he answered. "It's called Zulu. It's the novelisation of the film Zulu, but a more historical accurate account of the Battle of Rorke's Drift."
"Interesting read then?" Rias asked in amusement.
"It's a great film. But film's don't show the grit and truth of the Battle." Daniel replied.
Rias remained silent as Koneko entered the room, followed along with by Kiba. "Oh, hello Sensei." Kiba greeted Daniel.
"Yo." Daniel waved at the blonde Devil and smirked at the white haired girl. "I'm not taking anyone's seat am I?"
"Not this time." Koneko's short reply as meet with a smirk on Daniel's face.
"It seems that I've failed to annoy you today." Daniel remarked as he looked mockingly hurt.
"Stop teasing her Sensei." Rias drily comment as she glared at Daniel.
"Sorry, couldn't help it." Daniel replied back with a chuckle as he went back to reading.
"Oh, everyone is here other than Asia and Issei." Akeno commented as she entered the room. "I'll go get everything ready then."
"She sounds more pleased than normal." Daniel commented from his book.
Rias chuckled as she answered. "Akeno prides herself over her cooking and even more so when it come to her sweets."
'I wonder if I should cheat and steal be baking secrets?.. Just to piss her off.' Daniel thought to himself as he smirked at his own thoughts.
"What are you smirking about?" Rias asked with her eyebrow raised.
"Nothing, just thinking to myself." Daniel instantly replied however all three members in the room were now looking at him oddly.
Daniel noticed this an began to sweat slightly as everyone's eyes were placed on him. "Hey guy, we're here."
"So you've finally arrived." Rias happily stated as Issei and Asia both arrived.
'Thank you Issei.' Daniel mentally thanked Issei for him timely arrival with Asia.
"Looks like everyone's already here." Asia stated out in happiness.
"Asia." Rias stated in a serious tone getting the girl's attention. "Since it was Asia's first day in school, along with my Peerage gaining two new members. I thought it would be best to celebrate."
"Seriously!?" Asia exclaimed with exhilaration.
"So in order to properly celebrate this occasion Akeno baked you a cake!" Rias replied with a smile as Akeno entered with a trolley filled with a small cake and buns.
"Tada!" Akeno exclaimed out with a bright smile. "I made these last night, I hope you all enjoy them."
As Daniel watched the ORC laugh and share the cakes Akeno had made, he felt an urge take over him briefly. It felt like an natural instinct. 'Why am I getting a strong urge to protect Rias right now?' Daniel asked himself.
Using Structural Analysis on himself, he knew that he hadn't been made into a Devil, he was still human so he shouldn't have had this urge fall over him.
And then he felt it.
A shiver running down his spine... He was being watched, they all were being watched. Turning his head slightly Daniel noticed what had it's eyes on him.
Slowly Daniel turned around and opened the window and moved away from it to not alert the watcher. Once out the creature's of sight, Daniel held out a hand. "Trace on." Daniel called out as he created Fail-not.
The other looked on in confusion, shock and horror as Daniel pulled the string back. "Sensei, what are you doing?" Rias asked in a scared tone as she watched her Sensei swiftly turn around and fire off a shot out of the open window.
Daniel was silent as he done all of this. The group then noticed what it was Daniel had shot. It was a Phoenix with an arrow shoot through it's heart, and it was sitting on the tree branch overlooking the ORC's room. "No." Rias gasped out in horror as she covered her mouth.
The area where Daniel had shot the bird was in flames to show that it had recovered from it's injury. It squawked out to show Daniel and the others that it was about to attack
"I suddenly felt that thing watching my back." Daniel coldly stated as he summoned the Golden dagger Beagalltach. Loading it in Fail-not the dagger transformed into a golden arrow as he fired another shot, this time it was aimed at the bird's head.
His aim was true as the arrow flew into the bird's open mouth, but this time there was no flames erupting from the Phoenix as it simply dropped dead. "You... You killed it." Akeno stated out in shock as she held onto Rias. "You managed to kill an Immortal bird."
"Nothing living is Immortal. Only fools think like that." Daniel replied as he kept his cold eyes on the dead Phoenix that had fallen from the tree. Turning around he noticed that Rias was shaking in fear.
"Hey, calm down it's gone." Daniel softly spoke to help calm her down.
"He's been watching me." Rias stated out
'So that was Riser's familiar then' Daniel thought to himself as he tied to figure out how to calm Rias down.
"Issei, rush back to the classroom and get me a bit of chalk and get Sona here." Daniel ordered Issei who quickly left the room. "The rest of you, take Rias to another room and help Rias calm down as best you can."
The four nodded as they took Rias to the other room. with the room clear Daniel picked up the table between the two sofas and placed it upside down over Rias' desk.
"Right now all I can do is wait for Issei and Sona to get here." Daniel stated to himself as he began waiting.
When Issei and Sona entered the ORC room, Daniel noticed that the rest of the Student Council were also with them. "Issei informed me of what happened. Where is she?"
"She's in the back room with the rest of her Peerage." Daniel informed Sona who rushed over there. "You bring what I asked?" Daniel asked Issei who handed over a piece of white chalk.
"What are we going to do now?" Issei asked.
"Right now I want you to bring Rias and Sona in this room. I'll be getting the seal ready for them." Daniel informed Issei who nodded as left towards Rias.
With the chalk in hand, Daniel began drawing a seal on the bottom of the table on Rias' desk. "What are you creating?" Daniel knew the voice asking him was Sona's Bishop Momo Hanakai.
"I'm creating a seal for a Bounded Field." Daniel informed her as he continued working.
"What's a Bounded Field?" Sona's pawn Ruruko Nimura asked.
"A Bounded Field is a network of magical energy that's spread over a large area." Daniel informed Ruruko as he continued. "There are different uses for Bounded Fields. I have one in my home to stop people teleporting in."
"Still doesn't stop Sera though." Daniel lowly grumbled the last part as he finished the seal.
He had to wait for a few minutes as Rias was helped into the room by her Peerage and Sona. Daniel would have to be blind to not know the girl had been crying her eyes out. "Rias, what happened today will not be happening again." Daniel stated out to Rias.
"How can you be sure?" Rias asked, unsure if she should trust to her Sensei's words.
"Because if any supernatural being comes within 300 meters of this room that is not connected to either Sona's or your own Peerage. I'll be notified and will be destroying it." Daniel informed Rias as he patted the Seal he created. "And I'll be doing it with this."
"What does it do?" Sona asked.
"Right now, nothing. But with both your and Rias' seals added it'll be finished." Daniel informed Sona who walked over and without any further questions placed her hand on the seal.
"All that's needed is you Rias." Daniel stated as Rias slowly made her way over to the Seal and pressed her hand against it. "Activate."
With those words spoken by Daniel, Both Rias and Sona felt an invisible force of energy flush through their bodies. "The bounded field's now active." With those words said Rias seemed to relax as she took a seat.
"If you know who did this Rias I advise telling your family about it." Daniel informed Rias who nodded in agreement.
"Wait, you said Bound Field? Are we still able to use our powers?" Sona asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes, it's not an advanced Bounded Field, only a heavily modified version. Used for security and such. The owner of the seal is the only one notified if anyone has entered it. And since both your King pieces have been marked by it your Peerages are marked as well. So you can all come and go as you please." Daniel informed Sona who seemed to relax. "Everyone else though. Well, they can remote in, won't be able to get out though. Unless they over power it or, I allow them to leave."
"So does this mean my Sister won't be able to get in?" Sona asked in hope. But her hopes were short lived as Daniel shook his head in response.
"Sorry Sona. I've made a lot of Bounded Fields in hope to block her from teleporting into my home." Daniel had an apologetic look on his face as he informed Sona. "I gave up after 10 attempts... If she wants in somewhere, she'll get in."
"But let's ingore all that for now." Daniel stated out as he smiled at the groups. "I believe we were having a party before we were interrupted."
"Oh that's right!" Rias gasped out. "I'm sorry this happened to you Asia."
"It's okay. I'm just glad you feel safer now." Asia replied with her normal innocence.
Daniel meanwhile looked at the tray of cakes and realised that it might not be enough for Sona's peerage as well. Pulling out his phone to check the time he noticed it was just after half 4 in the afternoon. Still time before a local Bakery would close. "I'll go to a nearby Bakery and get some cakes. Anyone have any requests?"
Koneko slowly put up her hand but it was brought down again by Daniel. "I've seen how much you eat. I wouldn't be able to afford any requests you made. That and you'd request a lot out of spite."
"Guilty." Koneko replied with no shame at all. A few other hands went up as Daniel took notes on what everyone wanted.
"All right if that's everything I'll be back soon." Daniel stated as he walked towards the door. "Anyone wanna come with?" He thought he'd ask just in case anyone wanted to help.
"Are you going in your Chevy Impala?" Saji surprisingly asked.
"Well yeah... It's the car I own." Daniel replied with a raised eyebrow. "What did you expect me to hijack another car or something?"
"No, but I've always wanted a drive in a classic Chevy Impala! It's the only American car I've always wanted even as a kid!" Saji exclaimed with stars in his eyes.
"Well then, today's your lucky day kid! Let's roll!" Daniel smiled at Saji as the kid quickly rushed out the door in front of him.
"Boys..." Sona moaned as he face palmed at Saji's behaviour. Issei and Kiba meanwhile just looked at each other and shrugged.
(Saturday 28th April - Evening)
After finishing his training with Issei, Rias and Asia, Daniel sat down on his sofa to relax. Moments later Sera teleported into the room. "Hey Dan-tan!" Sera exclaimed out as she hugged his neck from behind the sofa.
"Hey Sera." Daniel warmly smiled as he pulled his head back to look up at Sera.
"I'll be down in a second. Gotta change first." Sera stated as she turned an moved towards the stairs.
After a few minutes, Sera arrived back down stairs in her pink cotton pyjamas. Her hair, no longer in the normal pig tails, flowed down naturally. Sitting down on Daniel lap, Sera nuzzles her way into his arms. "I've heard you've had a busy week. It's not often one kills an Immortal bird y'know." Sera stated as she moved closer to Daniel.
"Sona told me what happened." Sera informed Daniel as he wrapped his arms around her.
"I've never seen someone look that scared before." Daniel softly spoke as he remembered Rias' expression. "I wasn't expecting that response from her."
"I know... It's... Complicated." Sera sadly replied as Daniel tightly held onto her.
"She seemed fine after but I can tell it's getting to her." Daniel stated to Sera. "She's only playing it tough for Issei and Asia. The others seem to know what's up as well."
"And what annoys me more than anything is I don't think I can do a damn thing to help her." Daniel finished with a sigh of exasperation.
Sera was silent for a few moments, thinking about wither to tell Daniel Rias' problem or not. "Daniel... There's something I have to tell you... Two things in fact."
Daniel knew this was serious as Sera rarely used his real name. He already knew about Riser and his frustration was not being able to help out since he wasn't a Devil but what caught him off guard was that there was another issue he didn't know.
"But I'm scared to tell you." Sera softly informed Daniel as she held his hands, unable to look at him.
Lifting Sera up and turning her around, Daniel softly smiled before he kissed her. "Sera. I love you, please don't be scared of telling me something." Daniel smiled as he looked at her.
Sera softly cried as she kissed him once more. After a few seconds she pulled away as he wiped her tears away. "Okay... Rias' problem is that's she's in a marriage contract with another Devil, that she doesn't want to be a part of."
"What's his name?" Daniel asked as he hoped the timeline was still intact.
"Riser Phenex. And he's an arrogant, playboy, that's rude and is a total egotistical bastard." Sera's comments cause Daniel's eyes to widen. He'd never heard her saying such strong words to describe someone before.
"And what's the other issue?" Daniel asked.
"Well.. My name's not Sera Shitori. It's Serafall Leviathan. And I'm not 24. I'm over 550 years old... 558 to be precise." Sera informed Daniel whose mind seemed to have shut down.
'Wait Leviathan... Like one of the four Satan lords that rule the Underworld that Sister Garcia told me about as a kid. That Leviathan!' Daniel inner thoughts scrambled together with this new information as Sera began to look worried. 'Holy shit!'
Sera flinched at his facial expression as she softly asked. "Are you okay?"
'She wasn't part of the show so I never knew about her... But I still.' Daniel thought as he put his mind and thoughts together.
"Yeah... It's just a lot to take in haha." Daniel weakly chuckled as he held onto Sera. "It still doesn't chance who you are though... I fell in love with you before you told me this. Being an actual Satan doesn't change that."
Sera blushed slightly as she nodded her head in confirmation. "You forgot I'm 558 years old."
"I don't are about the age part." Daniel's instant reply shocked Sera. "With all these thoughts in my mind, your age is that last thing that I care about."
"I'm sorry for lying to you." Sera softly smiled as she looked up at Daniel.
She once more didn't expect Daniel to kiss her again. Stunned by this it took Sera a few moments to realise what was happening before kissing him back. "I still love you Sera... So, at the end of the School year, I'll join your Peerage."
Daniel's words caused Sera to look at him with wide eyes, before she began crying again. Daniel didn't know if they were tears of joy or not, but when she started to cry in his chest, he realised they were tears of sadness.
"Hey, what's wrong? Please don't cry. Was it something I said?" Daniel asked in worry as he tried to calm her down, but helping crying women was never his strong point. It rarely is for men.
"You can't." Sera replied as she rubbed his command seal. "You can't become a Devil."
'Is the command seal blocking it?' Daniel asked himself as he remembered what was his command seal.
"There's something I have to show you as well Sera... I know what this mark is." Daniel stated out in a sadden tone as he stood up holding onto Sera. "I don't think you'll believe me if I told you.. So I'll show you."
"What is it?" Sera asked as she stopped crying to look at Daniel in concern. He didn't answer as he lead her down into the training area under his home.
As Sera stood directly in front of him, Daniel held out his right forearm. He traced his left hand over the Command Seal. "The first time I summoned this sword. It nearly killed me."
Sera's eyes widened at this. She didn't know the mark on his arm was over a sword. "I'm older and stronger now, but I don't want to risk summoning it again outside again."
"Outside? You mean outside of."
"Yes." Daniel stated cutting Sera off. "Outside of my Reality Marble."
As Daniel lifted his left hand he called out his Incantation.
"I am, the Bone of my Sword."
And Cut!

Heads up as well. Don't be expecting to see Daniel's inner Unlimited Blade Works yet. I'm saving that for something else. But I'm guessing a few or a lot of you will now know what the Sword that Daniel is referring to. If not, it will be revealed next week. As of this chapter being posted Chapter 10 is being worked on.
