"I aint leaving!" Killian growled out with a ferial tone. "This bitch needs to fear the bite of Rome's Guardian Wolf!" Killian exclaimed as he continue'd his onslaught on the Homunculus.
Daniel looked at his brother with some worry but knew that now wasn't a good time to start hesitating. "Yasaka prove cover for both Scáthach and Killi. And what ever happens don't let that bitch touch either of you!" Daniel shouted out before rushing down the passageway the Fallen Angel had run off through.
He didn't hear any reply as he kept running through the passageway. Luckily for him, there was no split corridors but unfortunately it had lead him back outside. Scanning through the night sky, Daniel wasn't able to find a clear sight of the Fallen Angel. But he could still feel it's presence.
"Trace on!" Daniel called out as he created Fail-not in his left hand and three swords in his right. Knocking the three swords in place, they each transformed into three sharply jagged arrow with multiple blades bursting out from it's spiralled core. "Run, run, run. Hound of the Red Plains! HRUNTING!"
Unleashing Hrunting upon the hidden Fallen Angel, Daniel followed the red trail of light that it had left in the sky above as it honed in on it's prey. Soon The Arrows began to swing and sway through the sky above the Katsura River. He had found his target.
The Born Again Fate of DxD - Chapter 16: Bark and Bite
(Friday 25th May - Katsura River - Evening)
Daniel watched on as the three lines of red lines, signalling the three shot of Hrunting hit their target. The Fallen Angel then collapsed into the River below as it fell from the sky. However it didn't fall in too deep as the water barely reached Daniel's knee as he moved towards his target.
As Daniel made his way over though, he could see the Fallen Angel struggle to stand up as it's glared back at him. "While I have Azazel's permission to kill you... I'll make it quick and ask once." Daniel stated out as he held out his right hand.
"Trace on." Daniel called out as he placed the tip of his new sword, Fragarach under the throat of the Fallen Angel in front of him. "Why try create that monster. And why was a Philosopher's Stone needed?"
The Fallen grunted in pain as he fought to answer but to no avail as he told the truth. "We wanted to create a perfect weapon. The instincts and Chakra of a Youkai, with the unlimited magical potential of a child that would become a Magician... It would've be invincible. A walking and living weapon for us to control, and it would've followed our commands like a loyal dog."
"And what was meant to be it's purpose?" Daniel asked as he narrowed his eyes.
The Fallen chuckled darkly as he responded. "For what other purpose do you need a weapon but for War?"
"So Kokabiel's plan to to start a war then? Who is his target?" Daniel asked as he pressed Fragarach on the Fallen's neck beck as the Fallen began to struggle in response. This soon turned into shock when he noticed a small amount of blood seep out of the Fallen's now smirking mouth.
'I didn't put enough pressure on his to cause him bleeding... Unless.' Daniel thought to himself as he opened the mouth of the laughing Fallen. "Bastard... You bit off your own tongue!"
"He was loyal to our cause but I never would've thought that I would've thought that Lucifer's long lost son would be the one to interfere with our Master's plans." A new voice from the night sky above spoke out to Daniel. But before he could turn to face who ever had spoken to him, Daniel noticed the river below him reflect the light of several dozen Light Spears above him.
"Reinforce." Daniel called out before the Light Spears above all came crashing down upon him.
(Fate/Zero OST: Dogfight)
Having abused his Mind's eye ability to it's fullest, Daniel was barely able to dodge and deflect the Light Spears that were fired upon him. With a moment to recover and catch his breath, Daniel looked over and seen his captured Fallen prisoner from before had been impaled to death by those same Light Spears. Looking up he could see a single eight winged Fallen Angel. "Well... That's not what I was expecting." Daniel softly growled as he tighten his grip over Moralltach and Beagalltach
"I would've been disappointed if it was that easy. I'm happy to see that this wasn't the case." The smug voice of the Fallen called out to Daniel as he got a better look at him. The fallen appeared to be in his mid thirties and was wearing a plain black suit with a blue tie under a beige trench coat. Four Black feathered wings on either side.
'So if Kokabiel is a Ten winged Cadre. This guy might be his second in command. ' Daniel thought to himself as he noticed the lack of any other Fallen Angels nearby.
"Is this the part where you monologue? Y'know when you tell me your name, your plans and how I'm either fucking with them or how my interference won't matter in the end." Daniel drily replied as he unsummoned Moralltach and Beagalltach. "Because if it is, I've seen it done better in the Saturday morning Cartoons I watched as a Kid."
"My name, if you wish to know is Casziel. And I will be delivering your rotting corpse to Lucifer myself." Casziel smirked as he lifted his hand into the air above him.
"I might just have to take your seriously then." Daniel smirked he done the same with his own right hand. "Sword Barrel: Full Open!"
Summoning over 20 un-named swords mid-air, Daniel focused his gaze at the Fallen Angel before him. "Fire!"
At the swords launched themselves at the Fallen he didn't move and took each blow without flinching. "I would be impressed if that attack wasn't so weak." Casziel taunted as the smoke and dust from the impacted faded.
Summoning more swords to attack the fallen Angel they were either buffed away by a Light Spear or Casziel decided to flex his ego and strength and took the hit directly.
"Jesus Christ, what's this guy made of?!" Daniel exclaimed to himself as he continued his motion of dodging and firing an Arrow back at Casziel.
"Asking for help from a Dead man, won't help you." Casziel replied as he suddenly appeared behind Daniel.
Jerking his head quickly to his right, Daniel managed to avoid the Light Spear that would've easily split his head in two.
'Come on think!' Daniel thought to himself as he started to avoid Casziel's high speed attacks with his Mind's eye ability.
Then it struck him. 'Wait he's been striking the more powerful sword away.' Daniel realized before smirking. 'Then lets see how he deals with a powerful weapon up and close.'
"Trace on!" With Excalibur Blessing now in Daniel right hand. Daniel ran his left hand down the blade's edge, setting it a light in flames. "Excalibur... Galatine!"
From near point blank range, the arc of flames that Galatine fired out was still enough to fully engulf Casziel. But this time Daniel knew that he had finally dealt some damage as he heard the Fallen scream in pain.
'So the more powerful the Fallen, the higher grade of weapon I'll need to use... I'll have to remember that.' Daniel thought to himself as he jumped back to get some distance. He waited for the fames to subside. Allowing the Fallen to burn just a bit longer.
As the flames slowly extinguished themselves, Daniel smirked as the feathers of the Fallen in front of him seemed to have been burnt away by the flames created by Galantine. "You'll pay for burning away my wings! You filthy fucking freak of nature!"
"Haven't heard that one before." Daniel smirked as he took in a deep breath. With Casziel now unable to take into the air, he knew he had the advantage. He just needed a weapon that would finish the fight in a blow or two.
"Trigger off." As Daniel softly spoke out, his skin instantly became engulfed in glowing circuits of mana overflowing through out his body. "Gather around the light that leads from the Crystal Lake! Trace on! Unfading Light of the Lake: Arondight!"
As the golden light faded from Daniel raised right hand, it revealed the personal sword of Lancelot, Arondight. Daniel smirked as he looked at the shocked expression Casziel showed as the Fallen stared at the golden blade. "Sorry about the little speech just now but, Divine Constructs need a little more oomph to be traced into this world."
Within the blink of an eye though, Daniel disappeared from Casziel's view only to appear as if he had blinked in front of him with Arondight raised above his head to strike down. Casziel barely had any time to bring up two Light Spears to block the attack from slicing him in two.
As the two light spear held back Arondight, Casziel and Daniel continued to push each other back, but the Fallen Angel was slowly starting to gain the upper the upper hand. "You're powerful for a human... I'll give you that. But you'll still die by my hand." Casziel taunted as he pushed his head forward.
However, what the Fallen angel didn't expect next was to find Daniel smirking at him. "This fight's already over Casziel." Daniel replied as Arondight became engulfed in a dim blue light at first before becoming brighter and more intense until Arondight simply passed through the two Light Spears.
Within the blink of an eye it was over. Stunned by what had just happened, Casziel couldn't even feel the effects of Daniel's attack. "Arondight... Overload." Daniel softly whispered as he turned around and started to walk away.
The moment he spoke those two words, A blue line of mana formed from the crown of Casziel's head down towards his stomach. "What trickery is?" The Fallen angel never managed to finished his sentence.
"You don't know this sword's history nor it's abilities. I'll leave you something to think about that in the afterlife." Daniel replied as he watched the Fallen Angel fall to his knees.
"If you think this is the end. You are wrong. I have long waited to return in to my Father's arms once more." Casziel softly smiled as he closed his eyes and fell face first, dead.
Daniel's eyes widened as he processed Casziel's final words. 'In his Father's arms?.. Did he just say what I thought he just?' Daniel thought to himself in Horror before he heard of fighting still coming from the direction of the sewers.
Daniel was thankful he wasn't too far away from the sewers when he arrived back into the sewers. However it wasn't pleasant when he arrived back in time to witness Killian slam Scáthach into the sewers ground. Rushing over and using all of his strength and weight, Daniel drop kicked Killlian's Lycan form away from the Godslayer.
"About time you showed up." Scáthach complained as she gingerly got back up to her feet.
"Sorry." Daniel grunted back in reply, never keeping his eyes off Killian as he spoke. "What the fuck has happened here?"
"He just went berserk after you left!" Scáthach replied as they both rolled out the charging Lycan.
"After his first attack on the bitch, Yasaka had managed to get the kids out of here and to safety." Scáthach stated as he showed Daniel a small blue crystal. "She had dropped this after Killian ripped out her throat and arms."
'So that the Philosopher's Stone... But it supposed to be red?' Daniel thought to himself as the Lycan swiped at Daniel. "Trace on!" Daniel called out as he summoned Gáe Dearg into his hand to block Killian's swipe.
With Daniel holding off his younger brother, Scáthach landed a heavy blow to his unguarded side. "I'll admit having you here now has made it easier taking care of him. It's been very difficult to not kill him."
"How long has he been in this state?" Daniel asked with a worried tone in his voice.
Scáthach was about to reply but she pushed both herself and Daniel out of a charging Killian once more. "Ten minutes at most. But he's been getting faster and stronger."
Killian's body crashed into the sewer walls as it wasn't able to fully control it's own speed and strength. Daniel gritted his teeth as he watch the Lycan that was his brother shake it's head and grunt outwards before growling that them. 'I guess I have no choice but to pull him into Unlimited Blade Works.' Daniel thought to himself as he prepared his reality marble.
But he quickly stopped himself when he heard a voice call out to him from his own mind. 'No... You'll only end up killing him.'
'Wha?.. Who are you?' Daniel internally asked as the voice sounded familiar to him.
'That's not important right now... Killian and Lina's souls are merging and becoming one. You need to stop it, now!' The voice replied with an urgent tone to his voice.
'How can I do that!?' Daniel asked in hope as he once more was forced to jump away from an attacking Killian.
'You already know what to do... You must perform the Baptism rite.' The voice informed Daniel, who's eyes widened at the thought.
'That could just as easily kill him as well!'
'No. It wont kill them. It'll only sperate Killian from Lina, splitting them apart. Any damage after can be fixed with Rule Breaker later... Now stop wasting time and get on with it! The longer you wait the worse the damage will become!' The voice snapped as Daniel who silently listened and extended his hands outwards.
'Sorry Killian, but this isn't going to tickle.' Daniel softly thought to himself before he cried out. "Set!"
With a total of Six Black Keys, three in each hand, Daniel rubbed their edges together causing them to grind and screech as the metal clashed with one another. The sound had the desired effect as Killian attention was now solely on Daniel.
This allowed Scáthach the chance of a brief opening as she slammed her body into Killian's forcing him into the sewer walls once more. But before the Lycan could recover, Daniel followed up from Scáthach's counter attack and threw two of the Black Keys. Both hitting the center of Killian's palms, effectively pinning him to the sewer wall.
To fully ensure Killian wouldn't break the Keys holding him, Daniel threw the remaining Four Keys into the Lycan's shadow before placing his left thumb on Killian's forehead while his right hand held onto his chest. "I will kill. I will let live. I harm and I heal."
Daniel began the enchantment in Latin as both his and Killains bodies began to glow a light blue aura. "None will escape me. None will escape my sight. Be Crushed."
The light blue glow slowly expanded out until it was two meters from the brothers. "I welcome those who have grown old and those who have gotten lost."
"Devote yourself to me, learn from me, and obey me. Rest. Do not forget song, do not forget prayer, and do not forget me." As Daniel continued the dust in the air reflecting against the light causing Scáthach to awe at it's beauty.
"I am light and relieve you of all your burdens. Do not pretend. Retribution for forgiveness, betrayal for trust, despair for hope, darkness for light, dark death for the living. Relief is in my hands. I will add oil to your sins and leave a mark." Killian's growling became more furious as he was slowly able to move his body, only for Daniel to push him back onto the wall.
"Eternal life is given through death. Ask for forgiveness here. I, the incarnation, will swear." With the Baptism nearly complete, Daniel closed his eyes before softly finishing. "Kyrie... Eleison."
With the rite completed both Killian and Daniel were engulfed in the light. Scáthach who watched on was forced to cover her eyes. When she was finally able to see the brothers she found Killian who was back to normal, out cold and pinned onto the wall. The clothes nothing but rags after his transformation.
But her eyes widened when she seen what was in Daniel's right hand. It appeared be nothing but a small ball of light, but Scáthach had lived long enough to know what it truly was. It was a soul. "What are you going to do with that?" She asked Daniel who didn't respond to her.
"Trace on." Daniel softly spoke as Rule Breaker appeared in his left hand and lightly piercing it's tip into Killian's chest. "I command you, Lupa Capitolina to bind your soul into Killian Cole. To Protect and Watch over him as his Sacred Gear."
Pushing the light into Killian's body, colour started to return to his face as his breathing became heavier. With a snap of his fingers the Blacks Keys holding him in place disappeared as he fell into Daniel's arms.
With Killian now in his arms, Daniel held onto him tightly as he let out a sigh of relief. "Even after all these years, I'm still cleaning up after you. You're a pain in the ass for making me worry about you so much, y'know." Daniel softly chuckled as he collapsed backwards from exhaustion. He couldn't even hear Scáthach call out to him as his vision faded to black.
(Saturday 26th May - Yasaka's Palace)
As Daniel slowly opened his eyes, he was glad there were no blinding lights to obstruct his vision as he noticed the heavy Japanese styled room he woke up in. Along with the Futon he slept in. Daniel smirked when he seen Sera resting her head over his covers.
As he looked around once more he noticed Killian wasn't in the same room and thought that he must've been asleep in another room. By this stage he had wanted to get up but knew that doing this would disrupt Sera from her nap.
It soon didn't matter as Sera softly groan as she began to wake up. "Good Morning... Or is it Afternoon." Daniel smirked as he brushed his right hand over Sera's head.
"Thank the Lords below you're awake." Sera happily stated as she wrapped her arms around Daniel's neck.
"I'm fine..." Daniel softly replied as he wrapped his own arms around Sera's waist. "Just a little tired is all."
As Happy as Sera was to find Daniel was awake and well, there was something about the tone of his voice that caught her off guard. "Something's wrong? Is it about Killi? He woke up an hour or so after you passed out." Sera answered before she continued. "Scáthach brought you both back here and Lady Yasaka called me and told me what had happened."
"While I'm worried about Killi, there's also something else that's bothering me. Something that I heard, that I'm just remembering now after thinking about what happened... And I don't know if you might even be even able to give me an answer to this question either." Daniel replied as he sat up straight.
"Dan, we promised not to lie to one another. What ever it is, I swear that I'll answer it if I can help." Sera softly replied as she held onto Daniel's hands for support.
"Sera... Is Yahweh dead?" Daniel's simple sounding question caused Sera's eyes to widen. Something which Daniel picked up on as Sera silently nodded her head. "That not fucking good."
"I need to see Killian." Daniel groaned as he tried to stand up, thankfully Sera helped him as he could barely muster the strength to stand on his own two feet.
And Cut!
I'm ALIVE! So it's been nearly a year since I had last posted a chapter on this story. It's not been abandoned, just simply reworked. And by reworked I won't be starting all over again as much as some minority of readers would want. In stead I will be splitting this story up into three Saga/Mega Arcs.
So to let you know we are still under the first Saga, but at some point this story will be having an ending. And the Second and Third parts will not be the story you might not expect. But it has already all been planned out, it just needs to be written now.
No Q&A for this chapter folks! So that's all for now. If you have a question do feel free to post a review or PM myself. If I don't answer your question on next chapter's Q&A I will try to reply via PM. No spoiler question though. they won't be given full answers. But anyway thank you for reading this chapter. I hope you've all enjoyed it. Till next time!
