I apologize to all my watchers for taking so long in making this next chapter. I am going through some stressful times that I have to try and work out but I promise not to use leave this fic undone. There will be more soon.
Vocaloids living room
The scientist Doctor Makato then decided to discuss further on the three boys about their whole singing they had just done in the studio and of course more about their new bodies for studies and notes on what may lie ahead for them.
"That was great I am glad to see that the experiment worked and you've inherited the singing talents of the Vocaloids." Makato praised.
"Woo hoo!" Sonic high-fived Knuckles.
In-turn Knuckles High-fived Tails and of course the fox did the same for Sonic.
"Although while you have talented voices they aren't the same as the Vocaloids. Rather than sing exactly like they do your singing is at that level of a talented humans, while it's still very good it's just different from what made the Vocaloids unique." Makato informed.
"Well of course we aren't natural born Vocaloids so that's a very clear reason why we don't have the same amazing drawn in vocal mechanisms." Tails thought up.
"Hey if we don't sound exactly the same as Miku and her friends I'm good with that, I think having the skills of a good rock star is more than enough for my abilities." Sonic easily accepted.
"Hold on we may need to hold up on the music career for a sec because I don't plan on staying in this kind of body forever. I was born an echidna and I sure as well am proud of the race I was raised in so please doctor tell me, can we ever come back?" Knuckles asked.
"I honestly do not know, this happened at random all I can say for now is it may take some time but rest assure I will see to it the return to your previous life but you need to allow us to research on you more so we can find out." Makato laid out.
"Could they maybe sing with us sometime while that's happening?" Miku asked Makato.
"Maybe later but right now I would like to make another test, I wanted to try out on your abilities before this event happened while you were still animals but it would seem we will need to do it anyway." Said Makato.
"Well so far my tails don't feel as different as before but I still want to see if I can fly." Tails looked behind at his furry twin tails.
"I would also like to know if I still have my speed with me." Sonic came in.
"Tonight we can arrange a schedule for testing at the nearby Omaza high school field, it should be right since there aren't that many people around during that time, before that happens though maybe you can make yourself at home here, we have a lot of entertainment I'm sure you three will enjoy. We would also like to make you some new clothes that would fit you perfectly. " Makato offered.
"New clothes for us, sure we would like that." Tails accepted excitedly.
"Very well I'll let the costume designers know." Makato finished before leaving the place to get things ready for later.
"I guess guys we're gonna have to live as Vocaloids for awhile." Sonic said.
"At least we get to be like people now, we've been around them so much it feels strange." Said Tails
"I really can't go out in public with these." Knuckles looks at the sharp claws on his fists. "This isn't something humans would consider ordinary for their kind."
"Cheer up man that doesn't look so bad." Sonic encouraged.
"Easy for you to say since you and Tails have actual hands!" Knuckles disagreed strongly.
"Take a look at our ears and have you forgotten I can't seem to find a way to hide my tails!" Tails argued.
"Boys boys calm down. We have been in the public less than you have." Luka reacted.
"Really?" Tails questioned.
"We rarely ever come out and haven't even met anyone from the outside to be friends with other than you three." Miku came in with an uneasy expression as she talked with her eyes away from Sonic and Tails direction.
Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails gasped in surprise on the lifestyle they had to live.
"You mean you can't see your fans in person or anyone not from this place?" Sonic said with concern.
"That's how it is, the Vocaloid project needs to be kept secret because of people like that fat scientist kidnapper. No one else must know of our creation because the world either is not ready, can't accept artificial singers, or would use the work that made us for something terrible." Luka explained with a disappointing look.
"The employees are forced to both live here and under contract keep every kind of secret Yamaha Corporation has away from anyone who doesn't work here if they are hired." Rin added. "And when we do go out it has to be in an area with less or no people around and along the way security must always watch us."
"I'm sorry, I never thought that after all your talents were shown you couldn't get out into the real world." Sonic felt bad for their private lives.
This was intriguing for the hedgehog considering he has always found the outside of his life freedom, to him the idea of staying indoors would be something he would like to never experience and seeing someone else having to go through that instead of sharing his lack of restrictions made him feel all the more sympathy for them.
"All well it's still good here I mean the workers are friendly and caring and we at least get news and services provided. Basically we have everything we need, it's our home." Miku shifted her attitude in a more positive manner.
"Since we're going out later at the Omaza High school I could show you around a bit without getting too much attention if that's what you like." Sonic approached Miku.
The cyan hair colored teen blushed and avoided her eye contact with Sonic.
"Sure why not." Rin approved Sonics offer.
Hours later
Sonic and Tails were in the living room sitting on the couch playing a video game to pass the time while Knuckles just stands by them with his arms crossed observing them.
"Hey Knuckles, Tails, and Sonic your new clothes are here." Miku informed the three boys as she held onto folded blue colored clothing presumably for Sonic while her friend Luka had red colored ones and Rin had orange likely for Knuckles and Tails.
"Wow finally I've got to see what they've made me." Sonic put down his controller on the soft furniture to see what he's going to wear along with his friends.
Sonic knew his color was blue so he went to Miku and took what she handed to him.
"Thanks Miku." Sonic said in appreciation.
"You three can go ahead and try them in our restroom and see how they fit." Miku instructed.
"Well I guess I'm gonna be there first." Sonic sped over to the showering room.
"Why you!" Knuckles hastily and rudely snatched his wear from Lukas hands and raced Sonic to get to dressing before him.
"A simple thank you would've been nice." Luka grumped.
"There is actually another room you can put these on in the other side of here." Rin directed the opposite way to where Sonic and Knuckles were going.
"Thank you Rin." Tails was given his stuff then went the way Rin told him to go.
After several minutes have passed the three Vocaloid girls sat on the couch waiting for their new friends to be finished, Sonic being the first to adorn in his new gear came out to show the girls how he looked.
"Well what do you ladies think?" Sonic came forth.
"Yih that looks spectacular." Miku said with extreme adoration.
Sonic's human form fit the clothes rather well reflecting himself when he was a hedgehog, he had a vest covering his chest area leaving his stomach and arms bare and baggy pants both matched the same color as his previous blue fur and to finish it off he had his red colored white single stripped running shoes now fit for a human of his size.
"It's a good thing they put in the spikes I was starting to miss them." Sonic showed them his back as he pointed behind the design.
"Wow you are so good looking!" Miku complimented annoyingly.
"Oh uh thanks Miku." Sonic blushed.
"It's strange how much you look the same yet still entirely different." Luka said recognizing the looks of the now Sonic.
"Yeah I know I may be human but I've never felt taller my entire life. I wonder what Tails and Knuckles are thinking right now." Sonic said looking around himself.
Speaking of which both of Sonics companions came in just after Sonic showed himself off to let them see their own human form clothes.
"I'll have to get use to this for a while but it's not bad." Knuckles examined the fabric he's wearing.
Knuckles appeared to have a more plain style than what Sonic had while he wore the same pants with the color crimson red being the difference his shirt was long sleeved all same red with the facing down white crescent that he had before matched similar on his chest. He was given a new pair of grappling style of gloves to hide in his sharp hand spikes. His running shoes like Sonic were bigger to fit for his new body.
Tails also had his shoes bigger and baggy pants like his older friends, his previous orange-yellow returned but he wore a sleeved jacket with fur design on the collar and he wore a white shirt underneath.
It was clear the costume designers wanted to respect the boys when they were animals so they greatly resembled and reflected them in a taller look.
"I really like what I am wearing and they've even made a hole for my tails to fit through." Tails complimented.
"Now all three of you are dressed up nicely." Said Len.
"Knuckles should have to be the easiest one since it doesn't have as much as Sonic and Tails." Luka grinned.
"What's that suppose to mean!" Knuckles demanded angrily.
"Nothing it's just I like the way they did Sonic and Tails' more because they had more work on it." Luka kept her expression the same and turned her back to him and walked off.
"Why you!" Knuckles clenched his fist in rage and readied his punch towards Luka.
Luckily for Luka and of course the Echidna man Sonic and Tails quickly tackled their ill tempered friend to the ground before he could go anywhere near the pink haired Vocaloid restraining him from doing any further damage he would've caused.
"Don't do it Knuckles it's not that bad." Sonic attempted to chokehold Knuckles humorously.
"Let me go I just need one punch to teach her for saying that to me!" Knuckles struggled to release himself.
"It's not worth it Knuckles please don't do this to us!" Tails begged while holding his friends legs'.
"Oh boy I hope Luka doesn't act like that all the time around him." Rin said with a clueless look on her face.
"Me too." Miku agreed.
Later in the grounds of Omaza High School
The three boys wanted to know how their abilities and powers could work in their new bodies so they followed what the exploring scientist Makato wanted to do and went with him to the currently deserted school at night. Miku and her friends Len, Rin, and Luka wanted to tag along too and see the results of their friends but incase anything were to happen to them the special force team were in disguise as ordinary citizens and scouted around the perimeter in order to prevent any public view of the Vocaloids.
The testing of Sonic, Knuckles and Tails were on the schools track field which would be perfect for them considering they've always been quite the athletes throughout many of their adventures together. Miku and the others sat on the rows of unattended seats getting a good view of them while at the same time keeping their distance far and safe.
"Alright Tails let's see if you can still fly like before so why not give your two tails a whirl." Makato asked while holding a clipboard.
"Okay Makato." Tails said
The young foxboy immediately spun his twin tails around the same way he always did, the furry tips of both of them rotated in a circular motion so quickly that a blur of both orange-yellow and white fanned out as he propelled. Within seconds Tails test was successful, he was able to lift himself off his feet and go airborne.
"Hey it worked I can still fly." Tails realized happily as he looked at his back.
"That's amazing." Makato witnessed.
"Now let's see if I can do some more." Tails informed.
Wanting to see if his traditional ability can still work he aimed himself to go higher as he flew forward across the field.
"Wow so Tails can really fly." Rin observed.
"That looks so cool." Len astonished.
Miles found out really fast that he had still retained his feat almost as easily when he was an animal as he soared around the grounds.
"Yes I can still fly as a boy!" Tails shouted joyfully letting his watchers know but in just a little bit after a couple of minutes the little fox felt a small sweat drop coming down on his forehead, realizing this in a short time he ran his hand across his head and noticed the liquidly substance.
"What's this? Tails saw in concern.
After more minutes of flying the youngest one felt a bit fatigued and slowly his tails depleted their motion and was forced to head back down to the ground as he could feel himself tired of flying around already.
Tails friends and the Vocaloids gasped when they saw him kneel down, Sonic, Knuckles, and Makato rushed to him to see what went wrong, Sonic of course was the first to get near him.
"Hey bud what happened?" Sonic asked.
"I don't know I was doing fine then suddenly I got tired faster than I usually had been." Tails responded in slight exhaustion.
"You must not be as use to it now that you are in your new body." Makato verified.
"You mean I won't be able to fly as good?" Tails worried.
"Perhaps but we do know you can still fly at least so I guess with time you can possibly last longer." Makato explained.
"I think you should stop for now that was enough to knock the wind right out of you." Sonic stated.
"Alright then." Tails accepted then walked off slowly to the benches where his other friends were watching him.
"Poor kid." Knuckles sympathized his young friend.
When the young teen foxboy joined in with his singing friends they looked at him in concern for how he went on with his flying.
"Hey Tails are you feeling alright." Rin asked him.
"I'm fine it's just I couldn't fly any better than that." Tails' said with a downed expression.
"Are you kidding I wish I could fly the way you did." Len disagreed.
"Thanks Len but you see as the fox I use to be I always found use for my flying and whenever there was trouble I always needed to fly with everything I got, if that's all I can do then who knows how serious a situation could be where I am needed." Tails explained in disappointment.
"Tails you don't have to think that way." Rin went to the unhappy boy to cheer him up more.
The youngest female grasped Tails hands with both of her palms and allowed him to look at her as she continued to tell him. "As long as you still have that power in you then you can do anything whether you are a fox or a person it's all the same, I can see you still saving lives like that even my own."
Tails face lit up as he liked the feeling of her hands on his once again. "Thank you Rin."
After Tails' test had been done for the time being Makato and Knuckles wanted to find out if the human Echidna still had the strength to dig himself into a hole again.
"Are you sure you want to do this wearing those clothes? The costume designers made them for regular purposes." Makato questioned.
"Why didn't you tell them to make me some that are more for outside?" Knuckles argued.
"They already had. You were just too excited for the tests you wouldn't listen when they said they had the gear for these activities." Sonic smartly backed up Makato.
"If you think I should care about these clothes then here!" Knuckles angrily grabbed his shirt from the waist and stripped it off leaving his upper half exposed and threw his shirt on the ground.
"You know there are girls here right." Sonic sweat dropped.
Back in the benches Miku and Rin blushed when they saw the red haired one doing this.
"I must admit he does have a nice looking chest." Miku admitted after looking at Knuckles shirtless with Rin nodding in agreement.
"What do you think Luka?" Rin turned to the pink haired one.
"Oh what!" Luka said in surprise and gave out the most blush out of all the girls and tried her best to hide it but it clearly wasn't fooling anyone.
Rin and Miku giggled at their friends' face with the boys Tails and Len joining them.
"Stop laughing!" Luka shouted at them.
"You like seeing his chest don't you." Miku teased.
"I…I do not!" Luka denied still trying to keep a straight expression which in turn embarrassed her and made her blush even more so than she already had been.
Returning to Makato and the two boys, Knuckles was fully prepared to do the test much to the scientist and Sonics reluctant.
"Time to get this over with." Knuckles said as he strongly rammed his right fist into the ground then followed with his left and repeated the same pattern shoveling the dirt away as he easily went underground in just a moment. Knuckles continued until he disappeared inside his own digging site surprising Sonic and Makato.
"He certainly still has this ability, in all my life I have never seen anyone dig a hole this fast ever." Makato said in amazement as he looked down.
Sonic observed his friends work being done but then noticed something when he could no longer hear the echidna teen burrowing.
"Huh? Hey Knuckles why did you stop!" Sonic called out.
"I'm fine I went down more than 15 feet but I don't feel I can go any further." Knuckles said in an exhausted voice.
"Don't tell me you're tired too!?" Sonic said.
"It would seem since he and Tails gained human bodies they now have more limitations than what they have done before." Makato explained.
"So with Tails not being able to fly as good and Knuckles not digging as good then that means I will be the same with my speed?" Sonic asked worrying a little.
Speaking of which Knuckles who regained some energy climbed out of his hole to join in on the conversation. He was covered in dirt all over himself and his pants were ripped a bit.
"Well that stinks but at least I know I've still got the strength." Said Knuckles.
"That's true but I think you should take a break for today, you don't want to spend more of your energy now that you are human." Makato suggested.
"That's fine but I still want to know if I can still glide." Knuckles reluctantly agreed.
"You will I can promise you that." Makato said.
Knuckles found himself walking to the benches with the others as he had his shirt back on, funny thing was while the rest of him was dirty his shirt could no longer match with its less messy look on the fabric.
"You're gonna need some washing up when we get back." Luka giggled.
"Oh shut up!" Knuckles said in a grump.
Everyone just laughed at him as he responded angrily, all Knuckles could do was cross his arms.
"hmpt!" Knuckles grounched.
Makato wanted to at least make the final test with the hedgehog boy in his capabilities in the speed department so he had Sonic be ready in the tracks where he could run all of his laps to determine how fast his running still is.
"Alright Sonic this will be the last one then we will find out with some more results." Makato said.
"This'll be a piece of cake." Sonic stretched his arms and legs preparing for his favorite activity of them all.
As the blue teen and Makato were about to go underway a sudden stomping sound rumbled around the very earth everyone at the school was on. All of the teen Vocaloids and animal boys alike felt it trembling closer to them as if it was heading their way.
"This can't be an earthquake can it?" Len said trying to keep balance.
As the stomping slowed down the shadow of a gigantic figure appeared right in the seating area they were in towering over the teens as they looked at it wondering what it was. It appeared to be a crab-like beast but when the shadow cleared and it revealed itself in the light with more detail it was none other than a massive multi-legged metallic machine in the form of a sea crab.
Inside the cockpit of the giant robot was the one and only seated down and looking at the artificial singers through his wide screens targeting them.
"Just when you thought it was that easy to get rid of me well think again." Dr. Eggman gloated.
