This is the continuation of The pirates chronicles; The War on Technoid. It takes place five years after the events of the last story. Things have been at peace for everyone.
Still, a dark shadow looms over the Galaxy.
So far, The Pirates managed to stop new Flux Wars from happening but that soon is about to change...
The music from the speakers in the garage at Shiloh Security was soft.
Bennett wiped his forehead as he ran some diagnostics on their many cars, bikes and other means of transportation. He liked being alone in here, just him, the cars and the music. Bennett had made a habit out of following the list of tasks he was given carefully, one by one. He heard beeping, indicating one of the cargo ships was preparing to deliver a shipment within the next 48 hours. Bennett stood up from under the car he was working on, to go check.
As he looked at the message, he realized tonight would be busy. It was from The Black Manta. Corso Blackbones turned in an order for repairs.
"Come on Corso, I'm only one man. I can't be in two places at once," Bennett muttered as he put Corso's order in the pile of work he already had. It had to be done later. Bennett had no other choice here. He called Tin Can.
"Don't ask me to work with Artie tonight. Or at all. Even robots can get tired." Tin Can complained.
"Just get over here. I'm up to my neck with work as it is," Bennett informed.
"Fine, I'll be there in fifteen minutes." Tin Can promised before he cut the call. Bennett sighed as he divided the work into piles. At least it paid well. Bennett waited for the robot to arrive. While he was in on the computer, Bennett opened an encrypted message about the most recent happenings.
They went to Chissia, as a ceremony was taking place there to restore Corso's honor. They rarely ever saw him emotional, but when a monument over his fallen comrades in Ascaron was erected, Corso broke down in tears, with Sonny and Callie by his side. Bennett recalled Corso silently handing him a memory stick one day. There was an unreadable expression on his face, but the hand to his shoulder told all he needed to know. Bennett sighed as the buzzer signalled that Tin Can had arrived. Time to get to work.
The research group was finally done with the work on the cure for the Resonance. Clamp wiped his forehead as he looked at Rocket. There was hope in his eyes. A hope that the mistake of playing Netherball could be undone. Clamp adjusted his protective eye wear as he checked the results.
"Good news Clamp ?" He heard a voice say behind him.
"Sonny, didn't think you'd have the time to drop by." Clamp answered as he greeted his long time friend. Sonny smiled at Rocket, whom seemed nervous about these trials.
"I wanted to be present when Rocket takes the first dose of this cure. If we need to make adjustments, it's easier if I have my own observations to go on." Sonny said with a smile. He then looked to Rocket again, who looked slightly nervous.
"Are you ready for this, Rocket?" Sonny asked mildly. Rocket nodded.
"I understand this is trial and error, that it might not get me back to full strenght, but if I can get some improvement,it is worth it. Even if I only get back to half strength, I'll be happy." Rocket stated firmly. Sonny looked at Clamp, who nodded.
Sonny smiled reassuringly to the young man, before he prepared to record the injection they were about to make. Dame Simbai and Brim Balarius, who were also present, were paying close attention from behind a protective glass. Sonny tried to stay at ease with Brim Balarius there, knowing he had something to do with the conspiracy that almost killed him years earlier, that said, he hardly had any evidence and had to wait it out. He nodded as he put on his protective goggles. Time to get started.
At the group that was progressing from category five into category six Flux users, D'Jok had issues concentrating. The test to become a Flux Master, like his father, was only a few weeks away. He felt the pressure. He was a married man with a family now. He had responsibilities besides his own ego. The lecturer started to talk about a side of the Fluxes that really interested D'Jok. He started to pay attention better.
"I am so looking forwards to seeing you, Mice. It's been, like, forever. We'll go shopping at the boardwalk and visit the new amusement park at Genesis." Zoeline said. Micro Ice could only smile. In the last five years, so much had changed. D'Jok was getting ready for his final test to become a Flux master. He himself, well, after the Paradisia Cup, Micro Ice noticed that he also struggled with Resonance. There was no cure yet but Sonny and Clamp were working on it. Rocket volunteered to try it first. It made him feel sad for Rocket. At the moment, he was the only one left on Akillian, the entire rest of the team now were based on Genesis.
"I'll be on the astrobus from Akillian in two days. I just need to wrap up the new and improved Mice delight commercials for the Technos. Even they deserve something good to drink. We'll see if Rocket has improved as well. I hope he has." Micro Ice confessed.
"You'll be here just in time for the graduation of category Five Flux Masters too Mice. Some of our friends are graduating as well, that's awesome." Zoeline said. Micro Ice agreed. He hung up and got ready for the delivery route of the day.
"Not that place again." He sighed as he saw the route but he couldn't afford to let customers down. Micro Ice loaded up his small truck and dressed warmly for his cold trip.
Callie Mystic Blackbones was dressed sharply for the graduation of a class of Category Five Flux students, many of whom were members of The All Stars team. Her husbands would also be there. Corso wasn't graduating, but he was the top student in Category Four transitioning into Category Five. He had to give a speech as the others had chosen him to do the honour, to his dismay.
"I hate being on camera. I would do anything to avoid this" Corso pouted, making both her and Sonny laugh.
"I got some news for the two of you handsome men" Callie said. Both Corso and Sonny looked at her, rather suspicious.
"Good news, I hope." Corso said. Sonny looked at him with a smile.
"Take it easy Corso. You're a ball of nerves. Things will be fine.I will be there too" He said. Callie had to smile as she looked at her two husbands.
"Here you go. I am wondering how you will react to this" She said and placed something on the table in front of them. Sonny took it first, and it only took a second before he realized what it was. A smile formed on his face.
"A baby?" He asked with a smile. Callie nodded as Corso placed his hand on her stomach.
"Is Sonny the father of this one?" Corso asked. Sonny crossed his arms as he looked at him.
"That doesn't really matter, does it Corso? It's ours." He said. Corso nodded. She looked at Corso. He exchanged his usual pirate outfit for a denim shirt, and some fitted black jeans. He smiled as he offered her an arm.
"Lets go, we don't want to be late."
Corso didn't like large crowds. Even Grand Master Brim Balarius was here to present them with their transition evidence to Category Five. Corso kept his speech brief. The sooner he could get out of the spotlight, the better. Sonny wore his Flux Master Medallion today as he greeted the class Corso was in. He expected a handshake, but Sonny went in for a kiss.
"Did you have to do that Sonny?Lets keep our marriage private" He whispered.
"You'll thank me later." Sonny teased back. As Corso stepped down, it was time for the new Flux Masters, including D'Jok. As the class was called up by name, Sonny paid attention to his son in the crowd. D'Jok looked stressed and kept looking to the was clearly searching for someone. Not his wife and daughter, they were both present, along with his team. Sonny's gaze followed his, and he saw the reason for his sons worry; Micro Ice wasn't there. Why wouldn't he be there? He and D'Jok were thick as thieves. Something was wrong. As soon as this was over, he had to talk to his son and find out more. Sonny heard D'Jok's name get called, and prepared to congratulate his son. D'Jok acted very strange as well. His motions were almost mechanical. As he reached Sonny, he could see the distress in D'Jok's eyes. Sonny took his hand and pulled him into an embrace.
"Where is Micro Ice?" He asked. D'Jok's eyes were fearful as he looked at his father.
"I need to speak to you about that, it's urgent." He managed. Sonny nodded.
"After the Ceremony. And congratulations, Son. You're now a Flux Master with the Breath of Akillian. It has been a while since we had one from there." He said. D'Jok nodded and walked forwards. Sonny locked eyes with Corso, who nodded. Something was wrong.
As soon as the ceremony was over, Callie joined up with Sonny and Corso. Dame Simbai and Brim Balarius were already with too hand noticed D'Joks behaviour, and found it odd.
"Is something wrong with D'Jok? He seemed troubled during the ceremony." Brim Balarius asked. Sonny nodded.
"Is this about Micro Ice not being here?" Corso asked as he joined them.
"That's weird. Isn't he D'Jok's best friend?I would think he would be here for such a major moment in his best friends life" Callie said. Sonny nodded. Corso looked at Sonny, before nodding as they went to join the graduates in their celebration.
This was meant to be the happiest day of his life, his major accomplishment but it felt like something was missing without Micro Ice. D'Jok knew he could be annoying, but still, he was like his little brother. They had been inseparable. D'Jok wanted to celebrate but it became near impossible to do now. Where was Micro Ice? He promised to be here. D'Jok made a new attempt to connect with Micro Ice's transmitter. The image came out blurry.
"Micro Ice, where are you? The ceremony is over, and you're still not here." D'Jok started.
"D'Jok… Help me… "Micro Ice tried to say but the static broke up his message. D'Jok froze in fear. Something was very wrong.
"Tell me where you are, I'll come get you." He tried.
"No! Warn the Flux Society… I stumbled onto something… The Galaxy is in danger. "Micro Ice managed. D'Jok felt his heart race.
"What are you talking about?" D'Jok asked. Micro Ice's voice dropped to a whisper.
"Tell Zoeline I love her…"Micro Ice managed.
"What's going on?!" D'Jok managed.
"Dig deeper into The shadow behind the throne. It is a file that Sonny has."Micro Ice whispered apologetically. With that, the connection was cut. He tried to call back, but got only static. What was Micro Ice talking about? The Shadow behind the Throne? Of course his Dad knew about this. He dealt with secrets. D'Jok looked up as Sonny, Corso and Callie approached him. They all knew something was wrong.
"What's wrong?" Corso tried, carefully. Sonny didn't say a word,he just observed.
"Dad, can I speak to you in private?" D'Jok asked. Callie and Corso looked at Sonny before leaving the two alone. Sonny put an arm around D'Joks shoulders.
"Let's talk somewhere more private." Sonny said as he led D'Jok to a small, secluded room and closed the door. Once it was closed, DJok started shaking.
"It's Micro Ice Dad. He got caught up in something and I don't know what it is. He told me I was in danger. And it's clear he's in danger, too." D'Jok stammered. He was completely out of it. Sonny put his hands on D'Jok's shoulders and gently sat him down on a chair.
"What did Micro Ice tell you?" Sonny asked in a calm voice. D'Jok nodded as he took a few deep breaths.
"He said he had gotten mixed up in something. Something bad." D'Jok said. Sonny nodded. Of course this happened to Micro Ice. That kid always fell into trouble.
"What else did he tell you?" Sonny asked carefully. D'Jok sighed.
"He told me to warn the Flux Society. That the Galaxy was in danger." He said. Sonny frowned, why warn the Flux Society?
"I'll have some of my men look into it. Anything else?" He asked. D'Jok tried to think. Micro Ice had said something about a file.
"He also talked about some sort of file." D'Jok said. Sonny frowned again.
"Can you be more specific?" He asked. D'Jok nodded.
"Dad, what do you know about The shadow behind The Throne?"
A/N:
I decided to let Micro Ice become a prominent figure in this fic. There will also be a big focus on his friendship with D'Jok.
Paranoidgirl will Beta Read once more and also help with ideas.
Happy reading.
