Craig Benson returned to his home on Genesis. For now, the scientists from Chissia had to lie low. They were prying. Not just Sonny but Corso as well.
He had to be careful.
Craig Benson logged into his computer and set up a holo conference. Soon, two hooded men appeared on his screen. They were not happy with what he told them.
"You are a fool. You just put us in danger of being discovered." One of them said.
"I will keep trying. On a more positive note, Micro Ice was with Sonny as his caddy." Professor Benson commented. The other participant nodded.
"That means Sonny very likely knows where he is. Where are we in regard to the Erwholer keyholder? We can't operate the weapon without all the keys. And what about the fuel source?" He wondered. Craig Benson smiled.
"We're on top of it. He's a member of the Pirates. I don't know where he is, but our servant used his gift to reach into this Pirate's mind. I only need to get his palm print and the key. We don't have to worry about anything else with him." He said. The two others looked at him.
"And what do we do about Sonny Blackbones?" One of them asked. Benson smiled.
"I have a plan in mind. I just need some bait he can take." He said. The other two nodded.
"What about the problem with The shadow behind the Throne? He's becoming a threat." the man on the left said. Professor Benson rubbed his chin.
"I think its time we use our first mix in a field test."
Bennett woke up, feeling better. Finally, a good night's sleep. As soon as he got dressed, he checked his messages. The scan for his brother was finished. There was a picture. Bennett touched the screen. Bertrand's yellow eyes, looking wild and haunted. Easy to blame for what happened. They attempted to catch him, to no avail. The Darkness, the name of The Abraxian flux, was far too powerful and only resulted in more deaths. Did he really want to meet him again? He could be dangerous.
Why wouldn't his brother try to find him? Bennett sighed. He wrote a message, attached the relevant information and sent it to Sonny. Bennett was about to log out, when he received a call.
"Artie old boy. Where have you been?" Bennett smiled as he saw his younger colleague. Artie smiled sheepishly.
"Drowning in work at the food bank, as usual. But I have some good news." Artie grinned.
"Let's hear it." Bennett said.
"Sonny put me on a special assignment, starting tonight. Corso got us tickets for Akka Muk Ten's concert at Genesis stadium. We are going to train a new agent how to move around in large crowds, undetected." Artie said.
"I'm going to assume I get to go along?" Bennett asked. Artie nodded.
"To get you out of the house." Artie said. Bennett didn't need to think twice.
"Tell me where you want to meet up."
Sonny and Corso went through the content of the memory sticks. Tons of research papers, and it didn't take long for Corso to punch a hole in professor Benson's story that this was his own.
"Figured he was a thief." Corso commented. Sonny slowly nodded.
"He's trying to trick us." Sonny said.
"He's desperate for approval." Corso said.
"That's probably why General Benson wants him home. We now know his son is alive, but what about the rest of the missing team? We also need to look at the Abraxor Team. Someone knows what happened. I have to find out. I made a promise." Corso sighed. He placed his hand on Sonny's. Sonny smiled as he hugged him.
"I need to find a way to help General Benson. Do you have any ideas?" He asked. Sonny nodded.
"Lets try to find out if these two teams have joined forces. The Abraxians I can understand, considering their conditions. But where did they go? And why?" Sonny wondered.
"I wouldn't mind figuring some things out over the night with you." Corso smiled. Sonny smiled back at him.
"I wouldn't want it any other way."
Both Bennett and Artie were caught by surprise when they saw who the new field agent was.
"Micro Ice? Really? Didn't Sonny say he wouldn't become a Pirate?" Bennett said.
"Sonny's orders. Besides, can't be that bad, right?" Artie asked, looking over the crowd. Micro Ice wanted to dance and have fun, but he also knew now wasn't the time. He had to prove himself. Bennett tapped his shoulder. Artie found a route. Micro Ice got excited. His life as a Pirate was beginning.
The flux device was ready to launch. The head of the Abraxor science team, one half of the militia that planned to become the rulers of the Zaelion galaxy, looked at his crew. The best his planet had to offer. Abraxor's old rulers were weak. This had to come to an end. A total reset. And what better way to do so, than to establish a whole new rule over the Galaxy.
Their banned Flux would be reinstated. And if they found Bertrand Erwholer, Abraxor could again rise to become the dominant nation it was meant to be.
But first, they had to clear out some obstacles.
As he looked at the screen, he could see an image of the Flux Society.
It looked very peaceful where it spun. This was where the power was regulated. They couldn't have that. Fluxes were meant to be a power that everyone had the right to use. Who the hell did the flux society think they were, to try to suppress them? Those days were about to come to an end.
He opened a small hatch and put his finger on the control panel.
"For the freedom of our Planet." He said, as he pressed the controls to launch his flux device.
Brim Balarius was in deep meditation. He had felt The Darkness resurge, and it worried him greatly.
All of a sudden, Brim Balarius' bubble started to shake violently as a sharp pain entered his head. Balarius grasped his head in pain.
"It's too strong…! Can't… stop it…!" Was all he managed to say, before everything around him shattered and fell apart.
Things are heating up. What will happen next?
I felt really inspired for this chapter, it came together in no time.
