Corso looked at the Warlord, in all his grim shadows as he circled it, trying to avoid the creature taking his body as a host.
"I won't let you take me OR him!" He shouted angrily, trying to hide his fear.
Ta'Nahks laughter sent chills down his spine.
"I, for one, can't wait." He said as he lunged for Corso.
Corso felt his control slip, as Gaia started to warm in his hands, as well as the Seed. They formed a barrier around him.
The Warlord grinned.
"If all else fails, your Dual Flux is a nice silver medal." He said, trying for a new attack that Corso tried to dodge.
Corso knew he couldn't keep this up. That didn't mean he would give up. He just hoped he would hold out long enough.
Sonny was winning from his son as they played ball, though it was still fairly close.
He was about to tease his son, when Corso's confused and fractured thoughts reached him.
D'Jok easily swiped the ball from him, not knowing what was going on, as Sonny tried to piece together Corsos thoughts.
Scoring a goal, D'Jok turned towards his dad happily, when he noticed his father froze up in a trance.
"Dad? What's wrong?" D'Jok asked, feeling anxious. Sonny shook himself out of his trance.
"It's Corso, he's in danger. He found Professor Benson, and now the creature possessing that man is trying to take him over." Sonny explained. "I need to act quickly."
D'Jok nodded.
"Just be careful, okay?" He said.
Sonny just nodded, as they left the gym, to head home and set up a rescue.
The Pirates Council of Elders came together. Otis was worried about what happened to Corso. The other members of the council looked at him.
"We have to do something. Too much hangs on Sonny." Raven said on hololink. Otis was worried.
"His safety is paramount," He said. "Especially with our plans to make him the leader of this entire Galaxy."
Another council member looked skeptical.
"He won't agree to it, but we'll have to try." He said. Otis nodded.
"Tell him we need to see him. Maybe he'll agree if he knows what is at stake."
It was tense during dinner at the Blackbones' house.
Callie glanced at the bracelet around Sonny's left wrist, the one he was using to talk to Corso.
Sonny tried to act casually, but was failing at it. D'Jok exchanged a glance with Micro Ice and Callie. Something was wrong with Corso.
Sonny suddenly grasped his head and shouted in pain. He tried to leave the table, but the headache was far too strong.
"Dad!" D'Jok yelled as he reached out for his father.
Sonny was breaking into sweats, trying to control the pain he felt from Corso's mind.
"Stay away from me…" Corso weakly managed before another voice took over.
"He knows where you are so I will, too. I will find you, and I will take you." The voice taunted.
Sonny let out a scream of pain as the bracelet burned his skin.
Callie knew she had to break the connection for the both of them.
"We need to take that bracelet off." She said,
She knew that would hurt, but they really didn't have a choice.
D'Jok nodded, as he took the bracelet.
Sonny was breathing heavily as he looked at them, tears in his eyes.
"He's taken over Corso." He managed. Callie sat down with him.
"We'll get him back." She said.
Sonny seemed distraught.
"We have to do something." He said.
"You won't do anything." An unfamiliar voice said as a stranger entered. Sonny got to his feet and glared at them.
"Easy. I'm not a threat. In fact, I'm a Pirate like you." The man said. Sonny was still suspicious and drew his laser.
"Prove it." He said angrily.
The man nodded.
"I am the first leader of The Pirates. Its founder, if you will. We have much to discuss." He said.
Sonny sent Callie a look. And though nervous, Callie nodded encouragingly.
Sonny pointed to the living room.
"Alright, I'll bite, who are you?." Sonny asked him.
"My name is Otis Blackthorne."
This one was a fighter, Ta'Nakh thought as he battled Corso for control over his body. Guess he had something to fight for…
This feeling was alien to him.
He never had to fight. People just surrendered.
"If you surrender, I will make sure Sonny's body won't get hurt." Ta'Nakh said in an effort to persuade Corso. It didn't work.
"I'd rather die." Corso growled. Gaia around him kept him strong. The Seed within him kept him protected. But he couldn't keep this up forever.
His link with Sonny was broken, but that was for the best.
He just prayed he'd stay safe.
Once Otis finished his story, Sonny looked over the records of Pirates History that he had. It checked out. This was something he never really considered.
He was the Leader of the Pirates, and the Council had plans to put him in charge of the entire Galaxy if it was ever deemed necessary.
Sonny wasn't so sure about this. Did Magnus know about this? Did he hide it from him? That did sound like Magnus.
Otis looked at him.
"The Galaxy needs a strong leader now more than ever. The shadow behind the throne is the warlord Ta'Nakh. He has wanted this Galaxy for centuries now." He explained.
Sonny nodded, lost in thought.
"Does that make Dad a King?" D'jok asked, breaking the silence. Callie had sat down next to Sonny, taking his hand. She noticed this was stressing him.
Otis nodded.
"In a way, though it would be more fair to call him a Guardian." Otis said as he stood up.
Sonny rose, too.
"Looks like I don't really have a choice in this. Though I do have one request." He said.
Otis looked at him.
"What do you wish for?" He asked.
Sonny sighed.
"Give me back Corso. And make sure he, and my family will be safe." He said.
Otis smiled when he heard that.
"As you wish, My Lord" He said. Sonny sighed. He already hated being called that.
"Now, let's tell everyone else."
Kuun was worried. They made it back to The Black Manta. Things should have been alright. He should happily return to his wife and son now.
His brother was missing and very likely dead or captured. He headed to the ship's command center. Stevens was making his report for Sonny.
"I… don't know what to say. This never happened with Corso." He said. Kuun was on the verge of tears at this point. He held them in. He needed to be strong.
He felt Davison's hand on his shoulder.
"It's okay. Let it out." He said. Kuun nodded, then let out a sob.
"I finally found him. And now he's lost again." He said.
"Stevens, what is that?" Kate suddenly asked, and pointed to the screen. Stevens quickly zoomed in, before putting what she found on the big screen.
They all gasped in shock.
"It's Corso."Kuun said, baffled. "And he's carrying something." Stevens zoomed a little more. It was Professor Benson on Corso's shoulders.
"Get a cell ready. And get Sonny on the line!" Stevens ordered.
They watched as Corso stubbornly made his way through the snow, despite carrying a full grown man over his shoulders.
Stevens reached Sonny. He asked for the camera to zoom in on Corso's natural eye.
"Prepare two cells, one for Benson, one for Corso. Kuun, get to your bunk, I'll talk to you privately." He said. Stevens was puzzled.
"Why Corso?" He asked.
"I'll explain later. Whatever is possessing his body needs to be contained. So for now… Corso is our enemy."
Things have gotten complicated for Sonny. How will he handle Corso's possession? And what about the position he's being forced into?
