Will wasn't liking this not one bit, he paced around frantically as Mouse was wiring up his innocent little sister. If Jay knew this was happening he'd go through the roof big time. It was taking everything inside of Will not to go off completely.
"I swear if anything happens to her.." Will didn't finish. He didn't know if he could, it was Jay's team. He trusted them to keep his sister safe and get his brother back.
"She'll be fine Will, we won't let anything happen to her" Antonio assured him. "Erin and I will be close by"
"It should be me going in and not Emmy"
The eleven-year-old went to her brother, gently taking his hand. "I can do this Will, you and Jay would do it for me. Let me get him back. This is on me"
He bent down to her level, he looked into her piercing blue eyes. The same ones his brother had. "Listen to me Em, none of this is on you. It's not your fault"
"If I had just told you or Jay, this wouldn't have happened"
"You don't know that. Just please stay where Erin and Antonio can see you, don't do anything unless they say so"
"I promise. And I promise to bring Jay home"
The older Halstead just pulled her in for a hug, Will always felt something was missing in his life and when they got Emmy it was as if his life was completed now. That void that was in his life was gone and he wouldn't replace her for anything.
Hank came down wearing his vest and Will went over to the older Sergeant. "I'm going to Hank"
"Will, I can't have that"
"Yet you can have my 11 year-old sister go into a dangerous op like this"
"Doc, there's too many factors dealing with this. We don't know if he will have Jay at the sight or not. We don't know how this can play out"
"All the more reason for me to go. Hank, this is my brother and sister. My family"
The older man had sighed, Will had a valid point. It was his family at risk. If the roles had been reversed and Hank was in Will's shoes he'd stop at nothing to help his family. He gave him a pointed look.
"You stay with me the whole time"
"I need to do this with Em"
"Doc, do you trust me?"
"I don't trust my father"
"We will get him, I give you my word. We will take him down and get Jay back"
"Time to roll," Antonio spoke up.
Will gave his sister one last look. "Em, you remember your safe word right?
"Rangers"
"Favorite hockey team nice choice," Adam said.
"What? No. I loved Power Rangers when I was younger. I still do"
"Let's go," Hank said, before this escalated.
They all moved out and drove to the location, Emmy hopped out of the car and looked both ways then ran across the street. Will hated this. It should be him going in, not his kid sister. Erin and Antonio had taken their positions and made sure to stay close.
Emmy consistently looked around waiting on her father, biting and picking her nails. Her heart raced in her chest, anxiety and fear spiking in her body. She still couldn't help but feel guilty her brother wouldn't have been taken if she said something.
"It's not your fault" Erin said, coming by her tying her running shoes.
"This wouldn't be happening if I had just said something," Emmy replied.
"Honey you don't know that"
Before the young Halstead could reply she saw her father, she shooed Erin away and walked towards her father. A bold look on her face as she tried to hide and mask her fear.
"Where's Jay?" Emmy asked her father.
"What no, hi dad. How are you? Good to see you?" Pat Halstead replied.
"Where's my brother? I'm here like you wanted, now where's Jay?"
"In due time honey, why don't you answer this. Did you call the cops on me and bust me?"
That made the young girl freeze. How the hell did he know? Emmy made sure to keep it all anonymous.
"I don't know what you're talking about. The cops busting you wasn't because of me. Besides I ran to find Will like you told me" Her voice started to shake. Soon she wouldn't be able to keep up with the lie.
"I think you're lying, nobody knew about that night but you and my associates and I know they wouldn't rat me out. So if they didn't, you were the only other person who could have"
"I seriously don't know what you're talking about. Now where's Jay?"
"You want your brother? I want you to admit the truth and I'll release him"
"I want to see my brother before I do anything"
"I can arrange that, follow me my dear"
"I have your word you'll take me to Jay?"
"You have my word" He held his hand out. "Shall we my dear?"
Will had been watching with a nervous look. "Don't do it Em. Don't do it"
Without a second thought Emmy took her father's hand and followed him. When the older Halstead saw it he let out a frustrated scream.
"Dammit!"
"Will relax, I got them being followed. Nothing will happen to her" Hank told the worried brother.
"You don't know that" His voice held anger, frustration and worry.
Before Hank could speak, Adam came in over the radio. "Boss, we got them. We're tailing them now. You want us to make a move?"
"No. Not yet. Let him lead us to Jay then we move. Keep a tail on them and we'll follow"
"Copy that"
Will looked at the older Sergeant. "I sure as hell hope you know what your doing Hank"
"We'll get them back. Now about Emmy, what is this that she busted your father?"
Meanwhile
Emmy swallowed hard as she stayed calm as Pat drove the car going to the place where Jay is. She also knew it had been a matter of time before everything came out and she knew her brothers would have questions.
