Corso slowly came out of the daze that the separation caused. In the blink of an eye, it all came back to him.
The Warlord launching himself at Sonny, Sonny's stern face as he held him in place while a small army of doctors behind him prepared some kind of tank.
Corso tried to sit up and found two strong arms pushing him back down.
"Easy Corso. Everything's fine." Kuun explained. Corso nodded, as he tried to calm himself. He noticed the straps holding him down, and knew what it was for.
"Where's Sonny?" Corso asked.
"Sonny's fine and the Warlord's captured. Sonny'll be here soon." Kuun explained. Corso let out a sigh of relief.
"Are you sure that Warlord can't get out?" Corso asked. Kuun nodded.
"We're sure. Sonny's fine. Also, it turns out, he's this Galaxy's Guardian." Kuun told him. Corso looked at him with a stunned expression. Sonny mentioned something about a Guardian when they spoke on the monitor in his cell. "Sonny is still trying to wrap his head around this himself. Just be supportive." Kuun said. Corso nodded.
"Guess my mom's fairy tales had some truth to them." He said.
"We're also working on something to identify Andro Zygnans and keep them out. One of the people working on that is a key bearer, guarding a very important key." Kuun said. That made Corso nod.
"Bennett's a key bearer from Abraxor. Are there more?" He asked. Kuun nodded.
"They know who he is and are about to reveal it." Kuun explained. Corso blinked.
"It's you, isn't it?"
"Yeah, I am." Kuun said. Corso could only nod.
"Just be careful. You're not just that title." Corso said. Kuun nodded.
"I need to speak to Sonny." He said. Kuun nodded.
"I'll meet him on Akillian. I'll call you when I get there" He promised. Corso nodded, as the two of them bid goodbye.
Callie was using what little free time she had while the babies slept, to get some work done. Maybe she should get a Nanny, so she could focus more on her work.
She could ask Sonny to help more, but with his new appointment of 'Guardian of this entire Galaxy', that probably wasn't in the cards.
That was going to take time to get used to.
Right now he was going to pick up Corso from the hospital, after a final check up. After what Corso had been through, she could understand why he was so careful.
The entire Galaxy was becoming really dependent on Sonny, and that was not necessarily a good thing.
Callie heard the door open.
"Sonny, is that you?" She asked.
No reply.
On instinct, she armed herself with a knife when she walked out of the kitchen. Someone uninvited was in the house. Callie walked towards the guest room. She heard sounds coming from it. She peeked around the corner.
The shape looked like Micro Ice, and yet, it didn't walk like Micro Ice. It had to be one of the shapeshifters.
Callie was about to charge the beast, when a hand on her shoulder made her stop. Looking back, she saw Kuun signing her to be quiet.
The being didn't find what it searched for, and soon, it vanished into thin air. Once it was gone, Kuun hurried inside to check his things. He nodded when he found everything was in place.
"Callie, there are things I can't explain to you right now. I told Corso, he will relay it to Sonny once he gets there. But for the sake of everyone's safety, I have to leave this house right now. I have been entrusted with something for the sake of the Galaxy, and I have to leave." He said. Callie was confused. That was when she heard Sonny's voice behind her.
"Kuun's right. The Andro Zygnans are on to us. This Warlord was just the start. Kuun has a very important assignment, and is safekeeping an item we need to get the upper hand in this." Sonny explained. Corso, who was also there, nodded. Callie looked at him.
"Should you be walking?" She asked, sounding worried.
"You think Sonny would let me if I shouldn't?" He said. Sonny nodded.
"I know what Kuun is going to do. Please, speak with Mom Ice, and work in a way that will benefit your son. You may be a Key Bearer, but that doesn't mean your life revolves around it." Sonny said. Kuun nodded and picked up his gear.
"I'll be back as soon as I have the item. Let's keep this Galaxy safe." He said. Sonny nodded, and the three men shook hands before Kuun took off. Callie had dropped the knife and Corso picked it up.
"We need to learn more about these people. They're dangerous." He said. Sonny nodded.
"Corso, I need you to contact all military on my behalf, and tell them to march against the depots of droids. We must weaken them as much as we can, before we can start to send them back. Failure is not an option." He said. Corso nodded.
"What are you going to do?" Corso asked Sonny. Sonny looked at him.
"Find a weakness." Sonny said. Callie nodded.
"Shall I call in the family and the Pirates to help out?" She asked. Sonny smiled and gave her a kiss.
"That would be great."
Kuun managed to sleep on his way to Akilian. The planet was as icy as he remembered. It was strange to think that this had once been a lush planet. The trip went well. He laid low, and didn't garner any unwanted attention. With an enemy that could take over a person, he couldn't trust anyone. He just had to focus on this important mission. He would also see Mom Ice again. That thought made him smile. How he wished things turned out differently.
The approach to Akillian was being announced on the ship's comm system. Kuun got himself ready. Out of habit,he looked around as he disembarked, to make sure he wasn't followed.
When he was sure,Kuun hailed a taxi.
"Where to?" the cab driver asked.
"Planet Akillian. It's been long overdue." Kuun smiled. The cab driver smiled back.
"Haven't I seen you before? During the disaster?" He asked. Kuun nodded. He remembered those days all too well. The cab reached Planet Akillian, and Kuun paid his fare. He slung his backpack over his shoulder. When he looked through the door, he could see Mom Ice cleaning tables.
Kuun took a deep breath, as he entered.
Callie,D'Jok, Mei, Micro Ice, Bennett and Artie were all gathered at Sonny's house, going through the documents Otis granted them access to. Sonny had been reading up on Flora, as she obtained the most information they might need. Flora was once one of the leaders of the organization, and extremely brave. She disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Sonny, fresh in his role as leader, tried to find her to no avail.
His transmitter beeped. It was Raven.
"Tell me you found something useful." He said. Raven nodded.
"I need to meet you in private for this." She said. Sonny smiled.
"Come to my house. I'll notify the guards to let you in." He said. Raven smiled.
"I just hope what I found will make it easier for us." She said.
An hour later, Sonny welcomed Raven to their living room. Raven smiled at everyone nervously as she sat down.
"What did you find?" Sonny asked. Raven put a small laptop on the table.
"I was going through these files at my home, and found some of them we might need to crack. It's a videolog made by a former Pirate." Raven said. Sonny took the laptop, checked it and gasped. Corso noticed.
"Something bad?" He asked. Sonny was reading through the notes quickly before he looked at Raven.
"Do you know who wrote this, and if she's alive?" He asked. Raven smiled.
"She's still alive, and close. Her name's Yolanda" She said. Sonny nodded, visibly relieved.
"Her name's not Yolanda. Not her real name, anyway." He said. Corso looked at him. Sonny nodded, with a smile.
"For real?" Corso asked, sounding quite amazed. Sonny nodded.
"She is. It's Flora."
Things start to fall into place.
Will the measures taken hold the Warlord in place for long enough?
And will Kuun and Mom Ice rekindle their love?
I'll do my best to answer all this in the next chapters.
I really am trying to wrap the story up as it's getting long.
Hopefully you will stick it out until the end.
Thank you very much, Paranoidgirl, for your help.
