A/N: No Callie will not have Danny's child or they will never hook up, I'm just going to put that out there. That is too wild and not a Calzona story. So, I thought that I would shut this down while I'm ahead!
Over 100 reviews? Wow! I'm so thankful! Initially, I was going to upload this in a week, but I powered through and editing this because you guys are clearly loving what's been going on in my head!
Also, I like this review which said drama is good but love is better! I do too, but Love without Drama on fanfiction? It's kind of boring!
Chapter 9
Arizona Robbins had never hated someone with a vengeance before. Okay, she never hated a living person with such a vengeance before. Of course, she was mad at Tim; that was the only emotion she could handle with him being gone. But she had a right to be mad. She was mad that he died, that he didn't fight harder that he stupidly gave in into what their father wanted from him. Sure, she did not know about his struggles, or how hard he fought or that he loved doing what he did. All the blonde could see that he was putting his life in danger by his own choice and Danny was doing the same and so was the Latina.
Since the day she had last seen Callie on the beach, she had tried writing her a letter, but apparently, she was sent to another unit, she wasn't her brother's captain any more. She tried getting to her phone but it was switched off. Maybe Callie didn't have her phone on her when she was in the sea. After giving it a week, Arizona decided that she wasn't going to go pining after the woman she had slept with a bunch of times. She didn't want to give her so much attention. So, Arizona decided to take a few art classes, she knew she didn't want to go back to school, but wanted inspiration and that campus was not going to give it to her.
The blonde even took up a job where she worked with middle schoolers and taught them art. The extra cash certainly helped keep her afloat and move out of her parent's house. With that and paying for the extra art classes she had been taking, she had managed to keep busy, but also, that middle school job was where she met Joanne.
The lovely Joanne was everything that Callie was not. She was a redhead, kind, gentle, soft spoken. Moreover, she was not in the Marines, she was not a Latina and she least of all, was never up in her business. Sex was good, not great, but maybe it was because they were not used to each other. Yes, it didn't take Callie too much time to figure out her body, but then it was fine. They had been seeing each other about a couple of months, maybe a couple of more months would do them good? Things were easy. Joanne didn't remind her of her brother, she wasn't worried about her dying. Joanne was… Joanne and Callie was Callie.
It was now Christmas and she had invited her girlfriend over to her house. Joanne had nowhere to go, so she thought she could bring her home for the holidays. It was still too early in their relationship for this step, but it couldn't hurt.
Danny had come home too, a couple of days before Christmas which made her wonder if Callie's phone was active again. Her finger kept on drifting towards the contact that was saved as 'Trouble' on her phone. But she didn't have courage anymore. A part of her wondered why she cared about Callie, she had a girlfriend and she shouldn't be worried about her. But then again there was this other part of her that wanted to tell Callie that she was getting her shit together, that she wasn't some lowlife who loved getting drunk and making out with whoever she wanted. She had finally started painting again, she was selling her pieces and she had enough to move out and rent out a little apartment for herself. She was no longer the family disappointment. But soon enough, she decided that she didn't need the brunette's opinion and least of all her judgment, so she decided to block her number right around the time Danny got home. Who knew, maybe she was working on the holidays. It was not like she cared. She did not care at all.
The bell went off jolting her from her day dream.
"Danny, there's someone on the door!" she called out
"So? Open the door dumbass!" Her brother yelled from his room.
"Fuckface, my guest is already here and I didn't invite anyone else! I am not opening the door!"
Unfortunately for Arizona, her mother heard her.
"Arizona! Language! And please go open the door, it's Christmas, they're probably just carolers," her mother called over from the kitchen.
"Why did I have to be the youngest?" She muttered to herself before heading towards the door.
Joanne had excused herself to go to the bathroom. And truth be told, she'd rather spend the night away drinking and cuddling with her girlfriend.
The blonde angrily marched towards the door.
"Hey, merry Christmas."
"Calliope?"
And there she was standing right in front of her as if they had kept in touch for the last couple of months, that everything was alright between, with that sly smile on her face that clearly read 'I have seen you naked, I have made you scream my name and done naughty things to you'. She hated that look, she hated with the fiber of her being because it was working.
That's when she saw the look shifting into a bit more apologetic one, it could be probably because the blonde wasn't smiling, well far from it. Arizona was upset and she was not taking any efforts to hide it.
"What are you doing here?" She asked angrily.
"Umm, Sargent Robbins invited me."
"I cannot believe-"
"Look Arizona, I had declined the invitation but he kept on insisting so I decided to take him up on his offer."
The thing that hurt the most was that Callie was calling her Arizona. Yes, she didn't expect to call her Sugar lips, but she thought that she would go back to calling her what she always had, Miss Robbins. But then she remembered she had asked to call her Arizona. Still though, it sucks so fucking much to watch her standing there.
Callie was wearing this maroon dress with a revealing neckline that ended around her mid-thigh. She paired the outfit with a pair of giant studs in her ear along with knee high boots. With the extra height her shoes gave her, Arizona landed somewhere a little shy of her shoulders. The brunette's hair however, the top of her hair was longer than she had ever seen it, it fell next to her chin. She had straightened it and styled it so that it lay on the side of her head, beside her chin. The buzzed sides of her head had grown a bit too, but it looked like she had somewhat of a feminine pixie cut going on rather than her usual hard ass Marine and Arizona wasn't sure which one she liked better. It looked sexy, way too sexy that the blonde wanted to bury her fingers in it and mess it up thoroughly.
They stared at each other for a while, none of them exchanging any words but just looking at each other. Arizona wasn't sure what to do. Months of radio silence and then, low and behold, here she was right in the flesh.
The blonde just folded her arms before running upstairs.
"Arizona!" She heard Callie calling out to her but she was determined as she approached her brother's room.
"What the fuck Danny!"
"What's up with you today? It's Christmas little sis! Cheer up!"
"Cheer up? When were you going to tell me about Callie?"
"What about her?"
"That you invited her and that she's here on our doorstep!"
Danny looked confused. "Captain Torres came?"
"No shit!"
"Okay, first of all watch the attitude!" To which Arizona simply rolled her eyes. "And secondly, she told me she was going to spend Christmas with her folks. How was I supposed to know that she would change her mind and come here!"
"Danny, I told her not to bring her here!"
"What is your problem with her? It's not like you slept with her"
Arizona nervously folded her arms as she avoided making any eye contact with her brother.
"Seriously Arizona! I told you not to sleep with her! It was the one thing I asked."
"It doesn't matter, okay, I'm with Joanne."
This time Danny rolled his eyes. "Fine, whatever, get out of my room."
With that the blonde made her room out of his bedroom and to the kitchen.
"Callie, you should have told me before that you were coming!" She overheard her mother saying before entering the kitchen and seeing them hugging.
"Actually, it was a last-minute decision, Mrs. Robbins. But I'm glad I'm here."
That's when her mother spotted her. "Arizona, don't just stand there and help us out. I'm going to check on Daniel." She said before heading out leaving the two women alone in the kitchen.
"So how have you been?" Callie asked, wanting to break the silence.
"I'm doing good. You?"
"I'm fine."
Arizona was done with this bullshit. The way the brunette had left her hanging was not right.
"Let's cut to the chase, okay? I got mad and I said some stuff, but you bolted! You didn't pick up my calls, you didn't write back to me! You just threw me away like I was trash!"
"I did not!"
"Oh really? Then what explanation do you have for all of this!" Arizona yelled.
"Look, today is Christmas eve, why don't we discuss this in private and not ruin everyone's Christmas. Okay? I'm here for the night so we can talk about this, say one am? Is that okay?"
Arizona rolled her eyes and was about to tell her off when a red head entered the room.
"I thought I heard voices. Babe? Are you doing okay? I thought I heard you yelling." She kissed the blonde on her lips as her hands circled her hips. "Hi, I'm Joanne, I don't think we have met."
Callie extended her hand. "I'm Captain Torres." When the Latina had decided to come to the Robbins house for Christmas, she had not expected this. She didn't know that the blonde was dating someone let alone had called her over. That didn't stop her from establishing her authority.
"Captain?"
That's when Arizona interrupted. "You can call her Callie, she used to work with Danny."
"Oh but you don't anymore?"
Before Callie could respond to that the blonde cut her off. "Nope. I transferred to another port."
"Well, it was nice to meet you Jocelyn, I'll go check up on Sargent Robbins." she said as she made her way out.
"It's Joanne!" The red head yelled. "That was rude."
"Yeah, well you don't even know half of it!"
"But she's not going to ruin our first Christmas, right?"
"No, I won't let her, Joanne. Callie is old news, you are my future, okay?" And with that Arizona bent down to kiss her girlfriend, come on let's go see what's on the TV.
After a few minutes passed by, both Danny and Callie came back down. The brunette wasn't sure what she was seeing. Arizona and her guest were on the couch cuddling with the blonde's hand up her shirt. The Sargent cleared his throat as the both of them moved apart.
"Sorry," they apologized but still continued to cuddle.
Here's the thing about the Marine that Arizona didn't know about. She knew what was real and what was done to put on a show. This was clearly a show. It was like she could read Arizona's mind clearly and she could see that the blonde wanted revenge.
"Where's the Colonel?" Danny asked.
"Where he always is." The blonde replied as she rolled her eyes.
Seeing that both Callie and Joanne were guests, the Sargent decided to change the topic.
"I'm so sorry Captain, I had no idea that they would transfer you to another port."
"What do you mean?" Arizona interrupted.
"So, it's not allowed for new recruits to socialize with superior officers while off duty. The Marines found out that the Captain and I have been hanging out so they decided to transfer me, but the Captain here was kind enough that she took the transfer instead."
"Well, you were just starting to make friends Sargent,"
"But you were with that team for what four years now?"
Callie just laughed. "Yeah, so it was time for a change! Besides, I couldn't separate Sargent Avery and you, both of you have become best friends that soon you might buy a house and marry each other from what I hear?"
And that's how the conversation went on throughout dinner. It was mostly light with Arizona making snide comments about Callie's disappearance, but for the most part the brunette handled it like a pro.
All of them had resorted to their bedrooms, with Callie taking the basement and Joanne sleeping in Arizona's room.
"Babe, slow down," the redhead said as she pulled away from her.
"What? I need you," she said as she kissed her harder.
"What's wrong with you, you were never this aggressive."
Just then there was a knock on their door.
"Fuck off Danny," the blonde yelled before moving to rid her girlfriend's shirt, but the knocking continued.
Arizona stopped what she was doing as she marched towards her door to reveal the Captain on the other side.
"What do you want?"
Callie looked like she was done with this childish behavior but decided to not to lecture her in front of her girlfriend.
"I left in a hurry and forgot to get pajamas, could I borrow some?" She asked.
"Fine whatever."
The blonde marched over her drawer before kicking the Marines sweatshirt that was on the floor under her bed. She didn't want Callie to gloat that she still wore her clothes from time to time. But the brunette was fast enough to catch her doing so. She couldn't help but smile at some of her actions. Soon enough Arizona handed her a loose t-shirt along with some sweatpants.
"Also, Arizona could you show me where I could get some water if you don't mind."
The blonde sighed as she left the room and started making her way downstairs.
"God Callie, you have been here before you already know where it is-"
The Captain dropped the clothes she was holding as she grabbed both of Arizona's arms and pinned it above her head against the end of the stairwell.
"What the fuck was that?"
"So now you are not opposed to crude language, I wonder what changed?" she said as she rolled her eyes. "And please let me go."
"You don't get to take out your teenager angst or whatever it is out on me Arizona," the brunette said as she tightened her grip on her hands. "I called you a bunch of times-"
"Don't you dare lie!"
"It said that the number doesn't exist so either you changed your number or blocked me. Whatever happened, you did it!"
"Why didn't you write back to me, you knew my address didn't you! It has always been the same one."
"I did!"
"No, you didn't, I would have got them otherwise!"
"I wrote you three letters and you didn't respond to any of them. So, I gave you some time to cool down, I left my postal code in all of them, but it was you who didn't reply, you!"
"I don't believe you!"
"Why would I lie, what good would that do me?"
The blonde hated that she was standing so close to her. She hated how fabulous she smelled, she hated how her thigh had founded itself between her legs. She hated how badly she wanted to relieve herself on it and with that Arizona did the only logical thing she could, she leaned up and pressed her lips on Callie's.
She could feel the Latina's grip on her losing before the brunette pulled away.
"What the hell is wrong with you!"
A/N: So… Can't you tell I love drama?
