A/N: I'm so happy that you all are loving this series and my version of Callie. I honestly thought that I would get such a positive response, but yay me!

Chapter 13

Arizona Robbins did not like this day. Today was not a good day. This was never a good day. The blonde was not a person who liked to celebrate her birthday and what bothered her most was that everyone in her family insisted on celebrating it and she couldn't catch a break.

Both Tim and Danny liked to make a big deal about it, which seemed to piss her off even more and then she had to be grateful for something she did not like and it was a battle.

But since Tim passed away this was the first birthday where she would give anything for another one of his annoying surprises. Sadly, that was not the truth.

This morning her father announced that they were going to go for a tour around a naval ship. She failed to understand why, but it wasn't like she had a say, so she just went along with it.

But she made sure that everyone knew that she wasn't happy about it. Tim was gone, Danny was not there, Callie was… She had no idea where Callie was, how she was or why she left her like the way she did.

She woke up and found herself alone in the basement with the brunette gone. She hunted for a note or anything that told her that they were okay, that she had not destroyed their friendship but she found none.

Arizona opened the three letters she had missed, all of them telling her to contact her, save for the last one. In the last one Callie told her that she wished her well in life and that it was a pleasure getting to know her. She almost cried at that one. Why was she so honorable and so god damn frustrating all the damn time. She quickly wrote a four page letter which mostly consisted of an angry rant telling her why she hated her…

But she couldn't send it. She took a couple of days before writing a new letter and sharing her new address with her. But soon enough a month passed by and she received no news, she turned her parents house upside down just in case the letter ended up here. Arizona even sent the portrait she had drawn hoping to at least get a thank you note in return. But nope, there was no letter, which further caused her to be annoyed.

"Please explain to me how celebrating my birthday on this ship makes it better?" she asked as she wiped the sweat off of her forehead.

Her father looked at her like he couldn't believe what he was hearing. Surely she didn't forget everything he had taught her had she? "Because it's your legacy honey, this is about as close as it can get to the actual Arizona."

"With that logic you could have taken me to the state and I would have literally had more fun," the blonde said as she rolled her eyes.

Barbera saw her husband struggling to make the most of this trip and decided to step in.

"This is fun!"

"We are on a naval base as they are telling us about the United States Marine Corp, something that you used to tell us as bedtime stories. I bet I already know more than that tour guide anyway/"

"Give it a minute sweetie, your father is really trying okay," her mother said as she brushed the sweaty hair back from her daughter's forehead.

She knew that once the real surprise was revealed her daughter would have a lot more fun. But she couldn't ruin it, can she?

"Yeah sure whatever."

Soon enough, Barbara saw her son approaching her daughter as he tiptoed his way over to them before covering her daughter's eyes.

"You miss me?"

"Danny! What are you doing here?" Arizona squealed in joy before turning around and tightly hugging her brother.

"You really think I'd miss your birthday loser!" Danny said as he ruffled her hair.

"You take that back!"

To the general audience it may seem a little odd that a 6'4 Marines man was being threatened by a tiny blonde girl with pigtails, but the moment Arizona started pinching her brother it was clear who the real winner was.

"Ouch sorry sorry! I missed you, you know!" He apologized.

After all the laughter subsided, the Artist pulled her brother in for a tiger hug as she took in her brother. "I missed you too!"

The family was happy to be whole again, or how whole they could get as the Sargent tucked in his little sister under his arm teasing her about something about the other. "Daniel come here and give your old man a hug!"

Just then something forced her to turn around as if her body knew that she had to see this. That this was important. And just like always, it was important. She took in Callie's appearance. This was the first time she was seeing her in her camouflage gear. Did she even own a piece of clothing that didn't scream marines? Oh wait, that dress she wore for Christmas.

It had been a couple of months before she had last seen her. But she looked fitter and more muscular than last time. Her arms looked more buff and her skin more tanned than she remembered. Her hair seemed to have been trimmed back to the length she had first seen it. Shaved on the sides and long on the top. She had styled it back to make sure it stayed in place. It seemed like she was talking to one of the other women on board who was wearing a similar outfit. The other woman had red hair which she had pinned up in a bun. The two of them looked like friends, or maybe more? Definitely not just colleagues. The blonde tried to put the jealousy at bay, she had no right. But then again all the feeling of lying alone on that couch came back to her.

"Captain Torres flew in today, after I told her it was your birthday and that I had planned to surprise you. She wanted in on it." Danny explained as he saw his sister eyeing the brunette.

"She flys for the Marines?"

The blonde was shocked. What did Callie not know. She knew art, she was in the marines, she was sexy as hell. Well, that was more of her personal opinion. No scratch that, the way heads turned as the sound of the Marine's laughter blessed the air, she saw heads turning towards the Latina and saw both Men and Women taking interest in her. She wanted to scream, she wanted to tell them to back off. But again she had no right to do so.

"No, but she knows how to fly. You know she's a big deal here right?" Danny said as he watched his sister.

"So you're going to go talk to her?"

"And suddenly you are in favor of us hanging out together?" The blonde asked as she folded her arms.

"I was never against you guys hanging out together, just the touching each other part was a bit too much."

"Come on Danny, remember we had a fight in Miami? Ring any bells or did it knock a few screws loose?"

Danny shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know, she seems good for you."

"I don't know." The blonde did not want to grovel. Not on her birthday at least.

"Come on, you and her got along so well. It's your birthday for crying out loud. Your girlfriend would rather volunteer on a Sunday than celebrate with you!"

"She couldn't get time off okay? She promised them before she knew it was my birthday and she couldn't get out of it." Arizona said as she defended Joanne.

Yes, the two of them were still going pretty strong. WAs she in love, nope, was she happy that she wasn't alone, Maybe… Would she rather be with a certain someone else, definitely.

"Can you just be nice? I like my Captain and I haven't seen her in forever!"

"I'll try," she said as she shrugged her shoulders. "You hang out with her and I'll hang out with you. Why do all of us have to hang out together?" She asked.

"Because I would rather not have to divide my time between two people."

It wasn't going to be that easy was it. Things with Callie never were. At least that is what she had learnt as she came into her life and disappeared just as quickly.

"And if I do give her a chance? What makes you think she wants it? That she wants to be friends with me? She just leaves every time, and she says that I bail!"

"Ever since she's come into your life, you have been more of yourself," Danny argued.

"More of myself?" What the hell does that even mean? She has always been herself. Sure, Tim's death had shaken her to her core but then she got back up. She took her time, grieved him and now she was at a better place. Did it mean that it hurt less? Yes. But it still hurt, it was just easier to get out of bed and not drown herself in alcohol

"Yeah you got your fucking life together!"

"It wasn't because of her," she argued. She didn't want to give that much power over her life.

"Sure you keep telling yourself that." Danny finished before standing upright like a Marine and saluting the brunette as she made her way over to the Robbins family

"Captain!"

"At ease Sargent," she said before saluting back to him. "Colonel, Mrs. Robbins, Miss Robbins, thank you for joining us on this ship. Did you know that this is as close as it can get to the actual USS Arizona?"

The blonde rolled her eyes. "That seems to be a running theme."

Callie greeted everyone around the blonde before leaning in closer to the blonde.

"Umm can I talk to you for a second?"

"Sure."

If this was how Callie wanted to apologize to her, she would rather her brother or her parents not know about the night they spent together or the 'incident' that happened on the stairwell.

The blonde stepped aside and followed the Captain as she took her a bit away from all the ears.

"How are you?" The Captain asked.

"I'm doing good. I just got to present my work in a gallery up in Seattle."

"That sounds so great Sugar lip- umm I mean Miss. Robbins, I mean Arizona." She corrected herself.

That's when the blonde lost it. "So what are you doing here?" She asked bitterly.

"I had some work here."

"So just work then?"

"Yup."

"Okay," She clapped her hands together before realizing that she was never going to get her apology. "I'll get back to my family."

Arizona started walking back. It was her birthday and she would rather spend it with her brother anyway. At least that is what she told herself.

"Wait!" Callie yelled before running towards her.

"I don't think you have the time anyway. I mean you don't have the time to write a note or anything. You are too busy yourself with talking to civilians okay. I know you're so busy that you can't seem to have time to tell me that you are breathing, so go back to work," she said.

She was done. She was done chasing Callie, she had a girlfriend and if the brunette wanted anything to do with her then she had to make some effort.

A/N: I know that this was kind of a cliffhanger too, but I read a review that said that I owe you guys an update because of the way I left things in the last chapter.

This was not how this chapter ended, but it would take me a lot more time to finish it, so I reduced it and put this one up instead.

Also, since I have noticed a pattern of Forever Calzona updating when I do, this is me updating in hopes that she updates too…

I know, but damn, Lucky Enough is literally my favorite ongoing story! Check it out if you haven't already, but I'm pretty sure you already have.

Anyway, please review this one!
