A/N: This chapter is going to be light, a bit to refresh your palettes from all the sexual tension between the two… Not that it was needed, but I guess my mind came up with this.

I have another idea for a story but it's in the endnote.

As for my story recommendation, have you guys read 'Nightingale' by calzona bubble? It's a story where Callie's a Nascar driver and Arizona was her highschool bestfriend.

The reason why I'm taken a bit more by this story is that I had something similar planned as an AU. It was more of Callie being a mechanic by day and an illegal street racer by night and Arizona was the detective who had just moved into town on the case to catch her, but instead her car breaks down near a certain someone's autoshop and sparks fly. If any of you want to give writing this idea a shot I would be more than happy to discuss what plans I had for the story and how I wanted them to get together. The reason why I didn't write it, well I had just finished Guns and Scalpels and I didnt want to write in the same genre, so soon. But yes, the idea is up for grabs if you want it, just don't forget to credit me.

Thank you so much for the reviews! They really mean a lot and I'm glad you like this AU!

Okay, one giant author's note later….

Chapter 16

Arizona Robbins was loving school. It was a sentence she never thought she would ever find herself saying but here she was. Sure there were a couple of courses that demanded more work than the others, but she loved them just as much. She was painting, she was having fun and her part time job was going well too.

Joanne and she broke up about three months ago. In fact the moment they came back from the ship she had cornered Joanne and told her that now was not the right time for her to be dating when it was clearly obvious that it wasn't the time that was wrong, it was the person. Nonetheless, it hurt for a while until eventually, the blonde just moved on with her life.

San Diego was a wonderful place filled with tons of art that the blonde found herself getting lost in. She always wanted to hangout with someone in the city, explore the art, the food, the culture, everything, but Joanne didn't want to. So, since the time she was single she took it upon herself to go and explore it all by herself.

The blonde quickly packed up her backpack as she finished up the last class for the day, art theory. She was not a fan. She would rather do anything than sit and take notes but you gotta do what you gotta do. When suddenly one of her classmates approached her.

"Hey Arizona? Did you manage to take down notes from yesterday's lecture?" Claire asked.

"Yeah, do you want to borrow them?"

"Umm, it's the weekend, maybe I could take them Monday? I don't want to keep them from you if you plan on studying this weekend," she explained.

Arizona thought for a while. She wanted to help her friend so she offered her notes anyway. She was already caught up with this class so it wasn't like she was going to miss them anyway.

"It's okay Claire, I don't mind."

The redhead took the notebook that was offered to her and put it in her bag.

"Maybe we could study together on Saturday?"

"Sure, that sounds great!" It wasn't like the blonde was doing much anyway, oh she had to get groceries, but that could wait.

Arizona hated cooking, but now that she was living by herself and trying to be an adult she had to figure out how to cook and clean her apartment. It doesn't sound like much, but to her, it was a lot.

"Give me your phone, I'll put my number in."

The blonde fished it out of her pocket before handing it to the redhead. Claire quickly typed it in before handing it to her.

"It was nice running into you Claire, I'll see you Saturday?"

Claire leaned in closer to the blonde. "I hope we won't be meeting just for studying Arizona," the redhead whispered before she winked and left.

Did the blonde really not understand what was going on? That she was being flirted with right there in her class when she genuinely thought that all that woman wanted was her notes. She usually knew how to pick up on these cues but she wasn't sure what was going on with her these days.

Anyway, she shook the thought out of her head. It was Friday afternoon and she was starving, there was some leftover fried rice in the fridge that she was just waiting to devour.

Arizona made her way outside of the class before she started walking towards the exit. If only she could have her car right now but San Diego was expensive as is, she didn't want to add gas money to her list of expenses, but right now she wanted that fried rice more than anything, she needed that fried rice.

As the blonde stepped outside of the building her eyes immediately darted towards the baby blue thunderbird that was parked in the parking lot. The Artist was not a car nut, far from it. To her a good car should have a pretty color and should go fast and that was it, but she knew enough from her brothers to know what good cars were. What took her by surprise was the person standing beside it, or well leaning on it.

There she was looking as gorgeous as ever! The Marine was dressed in tight black pants matched with black boots and a white t-shirt which she had paired with a black leather jacket. God that leather jacket! The Latina had her arms crossed on her chest with sunglasses concealing her eyes as she leaned against the car.

The only thing going on in Arizona's mind was 'let this not be a dream! I would be so mad at myself if this was just a fucking dream! A fucking dream on the other hand? That's much better than this torture.'

She shyly took a couple of steps forward until she was face to face with the woman of her dreams.

"What do I do to get a 'welcome back hug' or something? Or would you rather just stand and gawk?" Callie asked as she lowered her glasses.

"I don't know, do you get a hug? Should you get a hug," she said as she mimicked the Latina's position.

"That's not fair! I have replied to each and every one of your letters, I have sent you gifts and chocolates on holidays that I'm about 60% sure don't exist and-" Before she could finish her sentence the blonde leaned forward and hugged her tightly.

"Relax, I'm just messing with you!"

She took in the fragrance that she had been missing for months. The way those tan arms wrapped around her waist and held her closer was literally intoxicating. She never knew she would feel so comfortable as she buried her face next to her shoulders as her arms circled her neck. She wanted to hold her for months now, but she had to make peace with the letters the Latina sent her.

This was also the first time Arizona was seeing her in her 'regular' clothes, the only other time she had seen the Marine out of her uniform was when she had come over for Christmas and then when she had borrowed pajamas from her. While all of those were sexy, this was a whole nother level of sexiness.

Callie slightly pulled away before punching her shoulder. "That's mean!"

"Ouch that hurt!"

"Stop it, you big baby!" She said as she brought her in for another tiger hug. The blonde felt comforted that at least it wasn't her that was not able to keep her hands off of her.

One thing that she didn't mention in her letter was the fact that she was single and that Joanne and her had broken up. At the time, they were working on building their friendship and learning to trust each other and to the blonde it didn't seem like the right thing to do.

"Well you're a Marine you can't just be throwing out punches like that," she said as she rubbed her shoulders.

Callie leaned forwards and pulled her shirt away from her chest before placing a kiss on her bare shoulder. "There, does that make you feel better?"

Suddenly feeling her throat dry up, Arizona forced herself to say something, or well anything.

"That's a beautiful car, where did you rent it?"

"Rent it? This baby is all mine. I got her on my sixteenth birthday!"

"And just what? Drove it from Miami to San Diego?" She mocked her.

"Nope, I flew here last night, cleaned my apartment this morning and took her out from my parking space about an hour ago!"

"You have an apartment here? How do you have an apartment here?" She asked. How come she did not know that?

"I mean I live about thirty minutes away from here, but yeah, I have most of my stuff here. I guess? Does that answer your questions?"

"Nope, not one bit," she replied not believing this coincidence.

Suddenly the two of them hear the blonde's stomach growling. "Okay, we need to fix this situation immediately! What are you craving?"

Arizona had to literally bite her tongue before immediately saying 'you' to the Latina's question.

"I don't know, I could do a mean burger?" She suggested, not really sure if they were going out or to either of their apartments.

"Hmmm, that does sound good," Callie walked over to the side of her passenger as she opened the door. "Your ride awaits madam!"

"Sweet! I have never been in a top down car!"

"Really? Well, my only advice to you would be no matter how tempting it may seem, tie your hair, you don't want the evening dust to get into it," Callie glanced at her and saw that Arizona was not paying attention to her but rather was living out her dream where she was the main character of a movie in a scene driving a car like this "But since you aren't going to listen to me, nope, no advice." she said as she pulled out of the parking lot.

Callie knew that she shouldn't have just shown up to the blonde's college but she couldn't help it, she had to see her immediately, yeah she waited for like half a day, and that was mostly because she hadn't been back at her apartment in over a year.

After Erica passed away, she moved back to her old place here. It felt as if her apartment was haunted by their happy memories so she had to get out.

"You okay? I kind of lost you there Calliope?" The blonde snapped her out of her thoughts.

"Yeah, I'm good. How's school going?"

"It's tough, but I make it work"

"And your classes?"

"Some are great, some not so much, but you already know that" once the car came to a stop at the red light, Arizona took the Latina's right hand into hers. "What's wrong Calliope? Talk to me."

She took a deep breath before turning to face the blonde. "This is strange, this feels strange, like I'm about thirty percent sure that I never left the port, that I never decided to take some time off and that you aren't here beside me."

Arizona was familiar with this. Since her dad and both her brothers served she saw them struggling to come home, that sometimes there would physically be there but mentally somewhere else. She wondered if Callie had some PTSD from being in the Marines or losing her ex-fiance. That would definitely take a toll on anyone no matter how strong the person was and here she was telling her, that she was not okay.

"You feel that?" she asked as she laced her fingers together. "You feel my hand in yours?"

Callie nodded.

"Every time you feel unsure, every time you feel that you aren't here, I want you to just hold my hand, to feel my thumb gently stroking your knuckle, firmly squeezing your hand and then relaxing my fingers in yours."

The blonde looked at their hands together, alabaster and tan intermixing with each other.

"Calliope, I want you to be in this moment, be in what is happening right now and not think about what happened and what might happen. Just be in the present."

"I-I think I can do that," she replied before smiling at the Artist. She couldn't believe it, something as simple as holding her hand made her feel a hundred times better!

"Calliope?"

"Yeah?"

"Please tell me you aren't driving us to get a bean burger or something? I know it's been a long time since we saw each other, but if there is no meat in my burger, be ready to go out hunting and get me my meat?"

Callie chuckled. "My my, you sure know how to behave like a lady and here I thought you didn't like meat and were a person who enjoyed… um onion rings?"

"Onion rings?" She asked not understanding what she was getting at.

"You know, meat, onion rings?"

Arizona thought for a while before everything clicked. "Are you asking if I'm bisexual or a lesbian?"

Callie shrugged her shoulders. "I didn't use those exact words, but yeah sure. While we are actually talking about it, Do you have a preference?"

"Oh," she pretended to think, just hoping to see the brunette sweat. "Onion rings all the way baby, no meat whatsoever!"

"No sausages? Even like say prom or something?"

"Nope, I guess I always knew what I liked and once I knew, I just knew. What about you?" She asked.

So Arizona knew that she had slept with Mark, well she wasn't sure about it since it could just be rumor, but it was always better to ask her right?

"Hmmm, I guess I don't mind either, it's the feeling that comes after that matters you know? Sure with onion rings there's the stereotype of U-hauling around the third date and with sausages… well there are a lot of issues there that I would rather not get into right now. But I guess, if I am at the restaurant, I'm thinking about what would make me happier? Does that make sense?"

"It does," she nodded as she watched her pulling to the drive away of a burger joint.

"Here, you have something in your hair, let me get it!" Callie pulled out a dried up twig from her hair before tucking it behind her ear. "Our burgers await!" she said as she led the blonde inside.

A/N: I know this was like a tiny one, but this seemed like a good place to stop, anyway please let me know what you think of it!

And now for the real reason I stopped was that I couldn't figure out what to do with them. I don't want Callie to spend the night and leave because that is just too repetitive and I don't want to take them to Disneyland right away when Arizona was in the middle of her semester. What would you like to see?

I also have an idea for another story, it's a bit dark, so I'm not sure how you guys would take it. So the idea is that the plane is actually heading to a country in South America instead of Boise when the plane crashes and they live of in the forest for like 10 years before they are eventually found. No one dies, just people move on, Sofia grows up without her Mama or dad. When all of a sudden, Arizona is knocking at their door. What do you think about this idea? I know the 10 years feels a bit unrealistic to me as well, but I want to give it a Lost vibe. Of course it's going to be Calzona centric. But would that be something to explore? An extreme AU?

Speaking of extreme AUs, this was supposed to be that, but I can't cook up extreme and interesting scenarios in my head. Urghh! Uni is stressful! Send help!
