A/N: So, I got this idea in class and came back home and wrote it down, when I should have been something, anything else! Don't worry I have not abandoned this, I just… I'm struggling with coming up with where I want to go and I liked this direction.

Thank you for reading and reviewing! I appreciate it. All ideas are welcome. If something clicks then that means that I'll update sooner!

Chapter 17

"I can't believe it! Look at you! You big baddie succumbing to food!" Arizona exclaimed as she unlocked her dorm room.

They were just coming back from that fantastic burger place where the blonde devoured a double cheeseburger with large fries and a chocolate milkshake and Callie had a salad. She had a salad in a burger joint! She explained to the Artist that she liked to give it a week before she went back to eating greasy foods because living on the sea her stomach had acclimated to the plain bland food there, but the blonde was not having it. Finally, Callie gave in and had a couple of fries but that was it.

"Trust me, I know my stomach and I do not want to spend the night clutching my stomach in pain."

"Are you… in pain?"

That was such a multifaceted question, she was always in pain but she was feeling better now. Her pain was lesser than it used to be and it was because of Arizona.

"This is cute," Callie said as she took in the tiny room.

There was one set of bunk beds and two desks on the other side. There was a small dresser on the wall next to the door and very limited space to walk around.

"Lucky for you my roommate is out of town."

"Why? You plan on taking advantage of me?" She teased.

Callie took in the posters the blonde had up with the corners decorated with Styrofoam butterflies, there were fairy lights on one of the walls giving the space a bit more homey feel.

"Well, I guess I'll leave?"

Arizona looked at her watch. "It's too late, you should just stay over."

"Are you sure? I mean I live in a safe neighborhood and I don't mind driving." But just as she finished her sentence she tried to stifle a yawn.

"Stay over, you're tired"

Callie nodded as she nervously shuffled her feet. "Could I borrow some pajamas?"

"You always seem to borrow my clothes Calliope?"

The brunette rolled her eyes. "Shut up!"

"I'm going to get us some water, that's my dresser" she said as she pointed to it. "Help yourself to whatever you like," she said before grabbing her bottle and leaving.

She couldn't believe it, Callie was back, like actually back! She was so scared that this was still some hallucination but she pushed that thought way, she was here and that was what mattered.

Arizona returned to the site of the Marine in a tank top and some shorts showing off her tanned skin. She audibly gulped and thanked the lord that her back was turned towards her as she went through her notebook.

"Oh, I hope you don't mind, I was going through your notebook?"

"Yeah, it's fine, I have class tomorrow and I was doing some light reading on it."

Arizona grabbed a pair of pajamas for herself as she started changing.

"Class on Saturday?"

"Yeah the professor discussed contemporary art in detail but it's only for two hours and then I'm all yours."

"All mine?" Callie said as she turned around to watch the blonde straightening out her shirt.

"You know what I mean" she said as she hopped onto the bed before patting it. "Come!"

"Isn't it a bit two crapped for the two of us?" Callie asked.

"I don't mind, if you don't mind."

The Marine shrugged her shoulders as she plopped on the bed beside her. This isn't weird at all, is what she kept on telling herself. They were friends and friends shared a bed, she had shared a bed with both Addie and Mark. This was okay.

Arizona turned to her side as she rested her head on her elbow as she stretched to shut off the light. She could hear Callie's breath and knew that something was still bothering her. So she trailed her hand up the Latina's neck and light stroked her hair.

Callie turned towards her as she nuzzled against her palm. "Hmm, that feels nice"

"Yeah?"

The blonde played with the dark strands as her fingertips would lightly scratch the stubbled sides before lightly tugging on the longer strands.

"My Abuela used to do that," she explained. "As a child, I had trouble falling asleep so I would rest my head on her lap while she ran her fingers through my hair, she would say 'Calliope, Concéntrate en mi amor por ti y déjame el resto a mí' and everything would melt away."

"That sounds beautiful, what does it mean?"

The brunette chuckled. "Calliope, focus on my love for you and leave the rest to me."

"Your Abuela seems like a wonderful person."

"She was."

A silence took over the room, for Arizona she was processing that the brunette was actually sharing her personal life with her, that she wasn't as reserved as everyone thought her to be but a wonderful person to get to know. For Callie, she was seeing the artist in a new light, she was seeing how compassionate she really was. Callie could see how much the blonde had matured and she liked it.

"So, what are you going to do while I am in class tomorrow?"

"I'll be sitting beside you, why?"

"You would come with me?"

"Of course, why not?"

"Oh, okay" she yawned. "We should sleep."

"Yeah"

But it was pretty evident that both of them had their eyes open as they thought about a billion things. Were they friends? Were they more than that? should they try for something more? Or was the friendship enough? The blonde had had these thoughts for quite some time now.

Arizona looked at her watch and saw that it was two am, she turned over and saw that Callie too was awake. So, she spooked behind the Marine.

"Calliope?"

"Hmm?"

"Concéntrate en mi amor por ti y déjame el resto a mí." She whispered in the brunette 's ear.

"We need to work on your ridiculous accent!" she chuckled but closed her eyes and snuggled against the blonde's front.

The morning came too quickly as her habits woke her up when the sun was up. She wasn't surprised to find out that they hadn't changed positions as Arizona was still spooking her from behind. She carefully extricated herself from the blonde's arms before picking her keys and making her way out.

She thought that she could grab them some coffee and some croissants and have a nice little breakfast in bed with her. The Latina knew that it wasn't breakfast, but she wasn't sure when Arizona had class, maybe they could get breakfast afterwards.

It took her maybe ten minutes to go out and get it, but seeing that the blonde was still asleep she decided to get a fresh shirt out of her closet and took her towel as she made her way to the showers.

Callie had briefly been to college right before she decided to join the Marines, but even then she had never lived in a dorm and this was all new to her. She decided to take a quick shower but at the last minute decided to wash her hair, the water felt nice on her body. She tried to remember when was the last time she slept so peacefully ,but she kept on blanking.

After she put her clothes back on, she ran the towel through her damp hair as she made her way back.

The sound of the door closing jolted Arizona from her sleep.

"What time is it?"

"Seven thirty six?"

The blonde jumped out of bed in a panic.

"Fuck! No I'm late, I cannot be late Callie! I have to be there by eight" she exclaimed.

"Relax, why don't you get dressed and I'll make sure you make it to your class on time."

"How! It takes fifteen minutes to get there!"

Arizona quickly put on pants on her night shirt before grabbing a comb and trying to brush her hair free of the knots.

"I have a car remember!"

Callie grabbed their coffees and croissants as the blonde shoved her computer and notebook in her backpack as they raced down to her car. Within no time they made it in time for their class.

She was surprised to see a class this full during the weekend, but she likes to sit in those chairs with the arm desks and the ridiculousness of them all. Callie was right handed but she could see what a living nightmare it would be to a left handed person.

Arizona focused on the class as she sipped on her coffee. This was a highly coveted class taught by one of the top professors. She jotted down notes and tried to really take in what the professor had to say.

Suddenly the professor looked right at her. "Yes, you have a question?" he asked.

Arizona shook her head and looked beside her to see Callie had her hand up.

"Professor, what is your opinion on what makes this work contemporary? If we go by the definition of what contemporary means I wouldn't say that it is." Callie said confidently.

"Yes, but we want to go beyond definitions and norms"

"And you support this approach?" Callie questioned.

The blonde was beyond embarrassed, not only was the Marine speaking in a class filled with about a hundred people but at the same time she was blatantly questioning the professor.

"Yes, I do!"

"But doesn't that mean that it's up to interpretation?"

The blonde tried to get Callie's attention but she failed.

"Could you elaborate?" the professor asked as he smirked at them.

"For example, a friend of mine used to say 'It's a beautiful day to save lives' he would say it everyday but in art everything cannot be beautiful and wouldn't it change from person to person?"

The professor smiled. "Yes, which is why I value your opinion over everything I have written on the board, I'm just here to teach you how to think" Callie nodded as she leaned back in her seat. How did she win an argument against the most sought after professor. "I don't think I have seen you before in my class?"

"Yeah, I thought I'd give this class a try, so I came with Arizona" Callie said cockily.

The Artist literally wanted to die right now. There was a time and place to be bold and this was not it. This man controlled her grade, she couldn't get a poor grade in this class.

"Why don't you stay back after class, Arizona? You too" he said as he went right back into teaching.

The blonde could feel everyone watching her. She hated it. Why did Callie have to open her mouth. Soon enough the class was over as people started exiting.

"I cannot believe you just did that!"

"Did what?"

"That! Question his teaching methods!"

"I did not question anything, I just asked him a question." she said as she shrugged.

Once the last few people that were remaining in the class the two of them made their way to the front of the class towards the professor.

"Professor Shepard?" Arizona said as she tried to get his attention but he was looking at Callie.

"Well well well, look who decided to give us civilians a visit." he said as he hugged the brunette.

"Shut up Derek," she said as she hugged him.

"You two know each other?" Arizona asked.

"You remember my friend Addie?" The blonde nodded. "Well Derek and I met through her."

The blonde smiled. What were the chances that her professor was friends with Callie but nevertheless she took in two friends catching up.

"I'm so sorry about Erica. Addie told me about it"

"Yeah" Callie said as sadness took over her. "But, as you said, it's a beautiful day to save lives, I pretty much follow that everyday"

Derek nodded. "It was nice catching up with you. How about you come over? Meredith and I would love to have you two over for dinner!"

"Sure," Callie agreed as she hugged him one last time ."I'll text you the details." Before saying bye and making her way out. "Arizona? Are you coming?" She said as the blonde finally moved and followed her out.

A/N: So, how was that? I just had this thought pop in my head and thought that I would write it out?
