A bunch of Fic ideas/challenges that I thought about but don't plan on writing. Most are Naruto Fics but there are others in the mix. Each chapter is a different Fic idea/challenge. All of them are up for adoption and the only thing that I ask in return is that you PM me if you write any of them so I can read it too!
MERGING
This is a Challenge/Adoptable-Fic-Idea and this chapter contains the "rules" of it, which shall be explained soon. Before anything else; This title sucks! I really couldn't come up with something decent so, should you accept this Challenge, you are more than welcome to change it (I'm also open to suggestions and change it myself).
The core of this Challenge is the idea a had, rather randomly, to "merge" the members of the Konoha 12. I know, kinda weird… But hear me out:
The kickstart for it was that I always thought that there were too many characters in the series and most of them never had the chance to be properly developed, in my opinion. Adding to this, I recently saw a video of a guy (can't remember the name) drawing Akimichi Chōchō (from Boruto) all grown up and holding her hypothetical son. What does it have to do with this Challenge? Well, in the said drawing, Chōchō's son is implied to be Mitsuki's son. Also, he was drawn to somewhat resemble Luffy, from One Piece, implying that he would be able to use both his parents Jutsus (the Akimichi's Expansion Jutsu and Mitsuki's "Stretchy Arms". Both of them resemble some of Luffy's moves).
What I am proposing with this Challenge is the "creation" of "new" characters that would be able to use the techniques of two members of the Canon Konoha 12 (by Konoha 12 I mean Teams 7, 8, 10 and Gai. I'm not including Sai). Said characters should replace the original Konoha 12 in the story. Now I shall present to you the "mergings", their backgrounds, appearances, skills and love interests (and a few other minor details). The names bolded are the names of the characters of this AU:
-Naruto: Let us start with our MC! This AU's Naruto is the merging of the Canon Naruto (in order to make things simpler, I shall be calling Canon Naruto "Ruto") and Rock Lee. I made this merging mainly because Lee's background is more than worthy of a Shōnen's MC. That and his skills are awesome and I think would work well with Ruto's fighting style and personality (and healing factor). Speaking of personality; Naruto's should be pretty close to Ruto's.
Naruto should be Kurama's Jinchūriki and things would be pretty much the same to him as it was in Canon, until he joins the Academy. There he would struggle a bit more, since he seemed to be unable to cast Jutsus (like Lee, but for different reasons). He wouldn't find out until much later, but the reason for his inability is his Bijū level of Chakra Reserves. Yes, Naruto should have even more Chakra than his Canon counterpart, making it impossible for him to cast the Jutsus taught at the Academy with the poor Control he had at that point (don't worry, he will be able to use Jutsu later).
Despite his limitations, Naruto would not give up. As soon as he realized that Jutsus were beyond his reach, he dove head first into training his body and Taijutsu, hoping that they would be enough for him to graduate. His self-impose torture/training was so intense that a certain spandex-wearing ninja would be beyond impressed (Naruto shouldn't meet said ninja before he graduates). Luckily for Naruto, he always healed ridiculously fast (way faster than Ruto), which helped a ton with his training. Soon, no one was a match for Naruto at Taijutsu-only spars.
Years passed by and, by the end of the Academy, Naruto's overall power (with training weights on) could be compared to Chūnin-Exams Lee without weights. Yes, he would be stronger than Lee by the time of graduation (not counting the Gates); I find this to be reasonable only due to Naruto's absurd healing factor and stamina, but you have to remember that Naruto don't have access to the Eight Gates, yet (but don't forget that Lee would have an extra year of training, given he is older, which speaks volumes about Naruto's power).
Unfortunately, Naruto failed his Graduation Exams. Sure, Hiruzen would find a way around it and make Naruto Genin regardless. But no one knew about the Hokage's plans, not even Naruto. So, Mizuki had the opportunity to deceive the kid.
The whole Mizuki ordeal would play pretty similar to Canon, with a few changes;
1. Since Naruto couldn't do the Transformation Jutsu, the scene where he knocks out Hiruzen with the Sexy Jutsu wouldn't happen. He simply managed to get the scroll and get out in time;
2. Here, Naruto had time to only read about the Shadow Clone. Which means that he didn't practice the Jutsu before the rest of the drama happened. It was at his final confrontation with Mizuki that Naruto tried the Jutsu for the first time, and he did manage it! But… Due to Naruto's absurd reserves and lack of control, he accidentally created at least three times more Shadow Clones than Ruto did in Canon (not that he needed that much to beat Mizuki… He probably would solo the guy).
Naruto would, of course, be happy about graduating and learning a Jutsu. But he had a small problem; as he was at the moment, the minimum number of Shadow Clones he could make was around one hundred! While it wouldn't be a problem in certain cases, in most scenarios so many Clones would do more harm than good (he was also wasting tons of chakra. Not that it matters too much for him, but it is never good to waste resources, even when you have too much).
So, for a long time, Naruto would refrain from using Shadow Clones in battle and rely on Taijutsu, like he always did. Luckily, Naruto did read at the Scroll about everything the Shadow Clones are capable of; meaning that he would make a shit ton of Clones every day to drill Chakra Control exercises. Eventually, Naruto would learn how to open his Chakra Gates and, later, learn other Jutsus (like Rasengan, Summoning, etc).
I gave Naruto this much Chakra because I needed a reason for him to be unable to perform Jutsus early on, while not preventing him from learning them later. I also feel like there should be an "explanation" for him to have more Chakra than Ruto, but the only one I came up with is not that good or original. Regardless; Minato is a Senju in this AU. Yeah… But I'm not making him Tsunade's son; here, Minato is Tsunade's youngest brother! Not replacing Nawaki. In fact, Minato would be even younger than Nawaki. As for Naruto's appearance; why not the same as Ruto's? But get him cooler clothes, please… AND NO SPANDEX SUITS!
-Satsuki: Yes, the most used name for femSasukes out there… But I shall use it anyway for this character because of one of its meanings (Helping Moon). Satsuki is the merging of Sasuke (obviously) and Neji. Also, she should be paired with Naruto.
There were a few reasons that made me "merge" Sasuke and Neji; the first is the fact that both were considered to be geniuses or prodigies or whatever, in Canon, and so I saw it was fitting. Also, I really like the idea of the fan-made Byakusharinga (if you don't know, it is the combination of Byakugan with Sharingan); obviously, Satsuki should awake it at some point (that's the reason I chose her name to be Satsuki; her eyes would resemble moons, therefore the "tsuki" portion. The "Sa" part comes from Sasuke's name). Another reason was the background that both Sasuke and Neji were, at some point, rivals with Ruto while having some things in common with him; and when I put both Sasuke and Neji's backgrounds into a single character, it turned out to be even sadder than they were before (which can be a plus?).
Power-wise, it's easy to determine where Satsuki stands, since we all know well what Sasuke and Neji are capable of. But considering that she would have to deal with a Taijutsu monster called Naruto kicking her ass at Taijutsu-only spars (but only in that circumstance, I believe. Still, the duo did see each other as rivals), driving Satsuki to train harder than Sasuke and Neji could ever hope for. Her Byakusharingan, though, should only awaken during the Wave Arc, more specifically, when Naruto is about to "die" by Haku's hands (then there would be that scene where Satsuki would take the hit for Naruto, he would think she died and get mad. Btw, after Satsuki recovers from that, it would be a nice and sweet point to develop their romance… Just saying!).
To talk about Satsuki's background, I first have to talk about her mother, Uchiha Mikoto. When Mikoto was still the heiress of the Uchiha, she was forced to marry Fugaku. Eventually, she became the Clan-head and her first child was born; Uchiha Itachi. A few years later, Fugaku died during a mission and Mikoto could, finally, marry the one she truly loved; Hyūga Hizashi. Of course, both Clans went nuts and didn't approve their union, but the couple managed to get through them, barely. Then, Mikoto's second and last child was born; Satsuki. Once again, both Clans went bananas; the Hyūga tried to put the Caged Bird Seal on Satsuki, but the Uchiha managed to protect her. Oh, don't get me wrong; most Uchiha didn't like Satsuki either, they just hated the Hyūga so much that they would even protect her, if it meant to get a victory over the Hyūga. Still, there were some Uchiha who liked Satsuki, obviously.
When Satsuki was around three-years-old (or something like that; can't remember when it happened in Canon), everything changed. A Kumo ambassador tried to kidnap the Hyūga heiress (more about her later) and her father, Hyūga Hiashi, killed the man. Then, the whole thing of Hizashi dying in Hiashi's place happened, leaving a furious Mikoto behind (Satsuki was also affected, as you can imagine). Mikoto couldn't believe that the Hokage would sacrifice her husband like that, and that was the spark that began the plans for the Uchiha coup. Remember; No one loves or hates more intensively than an Uchiha.
The Uchiha Massacre should happen fairly similarly as it did in Canon. What should change is what followed it; After recovering, Satsuki was finally taken by the Hyūga. There was nothing Hiruzen could do to prevent this, given that Satsuki technically was also a Hyūga. Yeah, Satsuki was branded with the Caged Bird Seal and started resenting the Hyūga for it (and her father's death), not to mention the trauma of the Massacre (you could argue that the trauma here was not as bad as it was in Canon, given that a good chunk of the Uchiha Clan didn't like Satsuki. Still, she did see her brother kill her mother, so…).
Now you can see how many tragic things Naruto and Satsuki have in common; Seals that "dictates" their fates, both were greatly hated (although Naruto had more people that hated him), both were orphans, both were alone (sure, Satsuki lived with the Hyūga, but she was pretty much alone there, ya know?).
Of course, Orochimaru would try to get Satsuki, like he did with Sasuke. But I am not sure how things should play out here, given multiple variables (her relationship with Naruto, her hate for the Hyūga, the Caged Bird Seal and how it would interact with the Curse Seal and what would be Orochimaru's plans to get rid of it… Everything would weigh on Satsuki's decision to leave Konoha or not)… I shall let you decide. And what would Satsuki look like? I believe she would resemble Mikoto a lot, but Satsuki should have silver eyes, like the Hyūgas, but with distinguishable black pupils. And if you are wondering what the Byakusharingan looks like; pretty much a Byakugan with those Sharingan Tomoe. Her clothes are also for you to decide. And good luck with her personality!
-Haruno Sakura: Probably the character I am more excited about! She is the merging of Canon Sakura (in order to make things simpler, I shall be calling Canon Sakura "Kura". Don't ask) and Tenten (best girl 3). I chose to merge them because, at the beginning of Canon, each had one good quality that the other lacked (that and because both of them come from Civilian backgrounds); while Kura had an incredible talent for Chakra Control, Tenten had the right mindset and motivation for a ninja. It might not seem much, but the two things combined can be terrifying (for her enemies). Also, both were really smart (Kura even more so) and Tenten had deadly accuracy and knew how to use pretty much any weapon, while Kura seemed to have a mean punch even before her training with Tsunade.
But what all of that means for Sakura regarding her overall power? A lot, actually! I believe that, by the end of the Academy, Sakura should be the most versatile ninja of her peers (on a side note; while Satsuki should, obviously, be the Kunoichi of the Year, Sakura wouldn't let it be an easy victory). Sakura's skills shouldn't be a mere combination of Kura and Tenten's skills, in my opinion; Sakura should have plenty knowledge, talent and skills on Iryō Ninjutsu (yes, she should become Tsunade's apprentice later, but she should already know stuff by the end of the Academy), Genjutsu, Fūinjutsu (nothing too crazy, but definitely more than Tenten's simple Storage Seals), Bukijutsu (both close and long range), trap and ambush making, tracking and hunting (implies that her stealth is good too), Taijutsu (gotta put that strength to good use, ya know) and her Ninjutsu shouldn't be anything to scoff at either (given her control and stuff).
I'm NOT saying that Sakura should be a MASTER of everything I said by the end of the Academy (that she will achieve with time)! What I'm saying is that she should be way above your average fresh Genin and more than capable to compete with the "Clan kids" (her Chakra reserves should still be smaller than the Clan kids', but she compensates with her incredible Control and sheer drive to do better [and all of her training would also reward her with bigger Reserves than an average civilian-born Genin]).
Kura and Tenten's personalities are a bit similar in some ways, in my opinion. So, I shall let you decide how Sakura's personality should be (but she should be really focused on her career and have plenty of determination. And she should NOT be a fangirl [although she would have a boyfriend by the time she graduates… More about him later!]). Her appearance should be the same as Kura's, I suppose… But she should have Tenten's hairstyle. Her clothes… Certainly something Chinese-inspired (another thing Kura and Tenten have in common). Also, I know that didn't give Sakura a lot of background. The thing is; I couldn't come up with anything lol. But I'd say that Tenten's background should be good enough for her (it would be nice to see her becoming the apprentice of Tsunade, her idol).
-Chōga: Sakura's boyfriend! He is the son of Inuzuka Tsume (second marriage. If you want, you can say that Tsume's first husband died in the same mission that Fugaku did) and Akimichi Chōza. As you may have already guessed, Chōga is the merging of Chōji and Kiba ("ga" is another way to speak the kanji corresponding to Kiba). Honestly, I can admit that this is the least exciting character on my list. But I thought that Akimichi and Inuzuka's Jutsus could be something really destructive when combined (also, both Clans have techniques that make the user spin… So… Yeah…). You get the picture; giant Chōga using the Tsuga, Inuzuka claws made bigger and deadlier due to the Partial Expansion Jutsu, Inuzuka's Taijutsu made more dangerous due the extra power behind an Akimichi-like body, etc, get creative.
Chōga should be as confident as Kiba and as kind as Chōji (it was probably the combination of those two qualities that made Sakura fall for him). He would probably not be as annoying and loudmouth as Kiba and wouldn't give a flying fuck if anyone called him fat (he would be rather proud of his frame). Obviously, he would need to eat 24/7, like any Akimichi, but he would probably eat dried meat (or something similar) instead of potato chips. Appearance… That's a hard one… He would definitely have the Inuzuka marks on his cheeks instead of Chōji's swirls. I think I like Chōji's hair color better (but not his hairstyle. Well, his Shippuden hairstyle is awesome) and his face could be just a fat Kiba… Idk. His clothes are entirely up to you (although I like Shippuden Chōji's outfit a lot).
Now, I have a suggestion that you can choose to use or not; Chōga would not have a Nin-ken (sorry, Akamaru :c). That's because he would not be "officially" an Inuzuka. Since the Inuzuka already had an heiress (Hana) by the time Chōga was born. He would be made the heir of the Akimichi Clan. He would be taught almost all Inuzuka Jutsu regardless, but the Inuzuka Clan laws would not allow him to have a Nin-ken. Again, that's just a suggestion that you can completely ignore, if you want (but it is an excuse in case you don't want to keep remembering yourself to write about a dog).
-Hyūga Inohina: No, this is not a "ship", it is the name of the third and final kunoichi of our Rookie 6! She is the daughter of Yamanaka Inoko (genderbent Inoichi) and Hyūga Hiashi and she is the Hyūga Clan heiress. Inohina is the merging of Ino and Hinata (the "Ino" part of her name is obvious, and "hina" is an alternative form to speak the kanji for Hinata). When Inohina was five, her parents had a second daughter; Yamanaka Inohana (blonde Hanabi?).
Although Hiashi and Inoko truly loved each other, their marriage was… complicated, due to the Hyūga Clan's pestering. Unfortunately, Hiashi wasn't the Clan-head when he got married with Inoko, so the couple had to bend to some of the Clan's demands, the main one related to their future children; their first born should be groomed to be the Hyūga's heir or heiress (after Hiashi assumed the job, of course, which didn't take long after), while the second born (should they had any) could become the Yamanaka's heir or heiress. Any children after that, would have their potential gauged by the Hyūga and the extraordinary ones would become members of the Hyūga Clan.
It didn't help that the Yamanaka Clan was almost extinct then. You see, during all three Shinobi Wars the Yamanaka Clan were heavily targeted by Konoha's enemies, due to their exceptional Sensory abilities and their Clan's techniques (which were terrific tools for the War effort. They were built for infiltration and interrogation, after all). By the end of the Third War, there were only a handful of alive and operational Yamanaka. So, the once legendary Clan could do little to the Hyūga demands.
The Hyūga even wanted to name Inoko's children! "A proper Hyūga deserves a proper name", they said! Inoko only got around this by promising to teach her Clan's Jutsus to her first born (she already planned to do that, regardless, so there was no real damage), as long as the rest of the Clan didn't try to learn them (this, of course, wouldn't apply to the direct descendants of Inoko's child). And that's how the Hyūga heiress got such a "un-Hyūga" name.
Inohina would have mixed feelings towards Satsuki; while she didn't hate her cousin and truly saw her as family, she would always get worked out with Satsuki's coldness (although she understood the reason) and "I am better than you" attitude. But what angered Inohina the most was the fact that Satsuki treated her like they were not related, which would usually lead to a huge bickering fest between the two (Inohina would call Satsuki "sister" to both get under her skin and show her affection). Inohina would also be part Satuski and Sakura's rivalry at the Academy, meaning that the three of them would be constantly competing for the top spot (even if Satsuki would always be in the lead).
Inohina will also get a romantic interest (with the last member of the Rookie 6), but I'm not sure if they should be dating by the end of the Academy (like Sakura and Chōga) or start dating after they become Genin. I will let you decide, but if you want to focus more on Satsuki and Naruto's romance, I'd recommend that Inohina have her boyfriend before the Graduation.
Now, why did I merge Ino and Hinata? Well… for one, silly and simple reason; MIND TRANSFER SNIPE! Wtf? You may ask… While the Mind Transfer Jutsu is awesome for infiltration, it has two downsides; it leaves the user's body exposed and the target is usually within sight range (at least that's what I saw in the anime). So, to cover for those weaknesses, the most obvious answer is; cast it from a safe distance! And what safer distance is than several kilometers away? See, with the Byakugan, Inohina would be able to infiltrate targets from reaaaaaally far away. The combination of the Dōjutsu with the Yamanaka's Sensory would also be a powerful combo. In Canon, Ino seemed to be lacking on close quarters combat, a problem that Inohina shouldn't have, due to the Hyūgas fearsome Taijutsu (this also means that she wouldn't be limited to a support role). I can also see Inohina creating new techniques that uses both Clan's gifts. Like… Idk, may she could make a Jutsu to actually SEE the target's thoughts, without having to enter their head (just vague images, nothing too OP).
I believe that Inohina's personality would be closer to Ino's (without the Fangirl part). Sure, she would suffer a lot of pressure from her father's Clan (maybe even more than Hinata, given the fact that her mother is "an outsider"), but she would deal with it in a rebellious way (almost like RTN Hinata). Inohina should have Hinata's hair color styled the same way Ino had her. Her eyes should, obviously, carry the Byakugan (I just realized that neither Hinata or Ino have pupils lol). Clothes: the top would be similar to OG Ino's, but with long and loose sleeves (like we see on most Hyūga clothes) and the bottom part would be similar to what Ino wore at "Naruto: The Last".
-Shika: The final member of the Rookie 6 is the merging of Shikamaru and Shino. Shika is the son of Aburame Shiho (genderbent Shibi) and Nara Shikaku (probably the only Nara in history to marry a not troublesome woman [or so the World thought]). I merged Shikamaru and Shino together mainly to cover the most notable weakness of the Shadow Possession Jutsu; it makes the user stationary until the Shadow connects and, when it does connect, the user has to choose his moves wisely (and, if the enemy is strong enough, they can brute force themselves out of the Jutsu). The idea here would be for Shika to use his bugs to bait his target to where he wants (or any other strategy) and to use them to attack the target once he has them caught with his shadow. Another reason is that both Shikamaru and Shino are highly intelligent and logical (and both are pretty aloof too).
I think that Shikamaru's personality is more interesting than Shino's, so I believe that Shika should also have it. Shika should also have Nara's hairstyle, while wearing Shino's glasses and clothes (but he should have his coat unzipped all the way to just above his collarbone and his hitai-ate around his neck). Beyond being paired with Inohina, I honestly couldn't think of anything else to add to Shika's background… Sorry!
-Surnames: With the exception of Inohina and Sakura, I left everyone else without a Clan/Surname (Inohina for reasons that I already have explained and Sakura simply because Tenten doesn't have one). I did this because I'm not sure what Surnames they would have, given they are children of two different powerful Clans (and Satsuki's situation is even more complicated).
Now, I see a lot of fanfics where the writers give Ruto Minato's surname for the simple reason that he is Ruto's father (like most societies do nowadays). The thing is; I don't believe that's how it would work at Narutoverse. I believe that, there, the newborn child would carry the name of the most powerful or influential family they come from, or there could be some kind of "contract" between the two families (just like it happened with Inohina and Inohana and also in Chōga's case, should you decide to follow my suggestion up there). Do I have any evidence that that is how it actually works at Narutoverse? Nope (unless you consider Ruto keeping the "Uzumaki", even after the revelation of who his father was, a strong enough evidence)! But that's how it's gonna work here!
That being said, you are free to choose their Clan/surnames following the logic above (and double surnames like "Aburame-Nara" are not allowed). Naruto's case is a bit different; until the world knows who his parents were, he should be known simply as Naruto. After that, he should become Uzumaki Naruto. The reason for the early anonymity is pretty obvious but, why Uzumaki and not Namikaze? Minato was Hokage, after all! Well… NOT GOOD ENOUGH! I mean… Uzumaki was one of the most powerful Clans in the Narutoverse, while the Namikaze was not even a Clan! Following the reasons I gave above, it should be clear why Uzumaki would be chosen rather than Namikaze.
Pairings: I know I've already stated the main pairings, but now I want to tell you WHY I chose said pairings; Super Kids! What I mean is that I chose the pairings based on how powerful or resourceful their future kids would be. The most romantic reason? Nope! But it is a fun one (well, at least in fiction). Besides, I believe that you can make them fall for each other for reasons better than "Girl, our babies would kickass… Marry me!". Also, there will be two extra couples at the end of the list (but I put them together just for fun, not for super kids).
-Naruto+Satsuki: Pffft! Easy; Super Dōjutsu plus Super Life-force and Chakra equals Ninja Jesus. NEXT!
-Chōga+Sakura: Giant Spinning Bladed Super-Strengthened Ninja. Didn't get it? Well, just smash together what both Chōga and Sakura can do in one person…
-Shika+Inohina: Ok, I shall elaborate a bit more on this one… You already know what Shika and Inohina can do on their own. Besides that, their child would be able to use their bugs to protect their bodies while invading someone else's head. Or use the Gentle Fist against an enemy they had caught with their shadow (sure, the enemy would do the same moves, but they would not be able to close Tenketsus). Honestly, I believe that this one has more possibilities than the others.
-Asuma+Kurenai: Nothing new here; just a classic that I like.
-Kakashi+Garu: Who the fuck is Garu? Oh, no one… Just the BEAUTIFUL GREEN BEAST OF KONOHA! Yep, I genderbent Maito Gai into Maito Garu (if Maito Gai means "Might Guy", then Maito Garu means "Might Gal")! Why the hell did I do that? Just for the laughs! And yes, she should have almost the same personality and wear that spandex suit (Kakashi enjoys the view very much).
-Teams and Training: Team 7: Naruto, Satsuki and Sakura, led by Kakashi. Team 8: Inohina, Shika and Chōga, led by Asuma. Now, the Rookie 6 were in a peculiar position when they graduated; They were the only ones of their class who made it (for whatever reason)! At the same time, they were the most promising batch Konoha had in many years. With that in mind, Hiruzen saw fit to put his money on them and give both teams special training after their graduation (he wanted to show them off at the upcoming Chūnin exams, which worked, given that all six would reach the finals. If you think that there would be too many Konoha ninjas at the finals, remember that there were five in Canon; Ruto, Neji, Sasuke, Shino and Shikamaru. One extra wouldn't hurt). The two teams would often train together and sometimes do co-op missions. The Hokage would also provide extra teachers like; Garu, Kurenai, Anko, Yūgao and others (they should be teaching their specialties. i.e. Garu would focus on Taijutsu and Kurenai in Genjutsu. Kakashi and Asuma are pretty well-rounded with a bit of focus in Ninjutsu, and that's why I chose them to be the teams' Senseis).
