This fic is not for the light of heart, but it will have a happy ending. Cause I don't do sad endings xD if you do decide to read, I hope you enjoy the fic!

Chapter One: "Hibiscus" Portgas D. Rouge

Chapter Summary: When Rouge leaves home, she comes in contact with a pirate crew called the Whitebeard Pirates and quickly joins their ranks. Finding out she's pregnant, she departs from her crew and settles down in the West Blue. With Shanks with his father, she returns back to her crew.

Fate had a strange way of working. Destiny calling her name. Rouge knew that very well from over the years. She never knew what to expect as she was preparing for her departure from her homeland. She was seventeen and finally leaving Foosha Village, on the small place called Dawn Island, for the first time. Her father, Alpha and Marine Vice Admiral Monkey D. Garp, was currently off the island so it was the perfect time to leave. He couldn't stop her from going. She knew all too well that he would do everything in his power, including throwing her across the damn island, to keep her from going.

He had told her time and time again that he didn't want her going off on the sea alone since she had been born an Omega. Being an Omega on the sea was terrifying. Adding in the fact that she was also a woman. The world didn't take kindly to Omegas traveling on the ocean. It wasn't like he was around much anyway, always gone with his job in the World Government. Her and her brother pretty much did whatever the hell they wanted to do. Being raised by the villagers usually ever since the death of their mother. She knew where her father was coming from. She couldn't stay here forever. She wanted to travel the world. Wanted to go on adventures away from this place.

Dragon, her elder brother, was already off the island and had gone off to do fulfill his own dreams. The last she heard; he was in the Grand Line. She wasn't sure where or what he was up to. All she knew was, he wasn't a pirate. Dragon had always wished to make a chance in the world. Spread his philosophy over the seas and make a change in the world. A change for people like herself. A chance from the societal rules that the World Government and Celestial Dragons held over the world. Dragon despised the way the world was currently. He wanted to make and change, and Rouge was pretty damn sure he was going to be able too.

With everything ready, she unhooked her boat and waved off the villagers as she started off on her own journey. Hanging onto her orange hat with a hibiscus flower tucked into it as the wind blew around her. With a large grin, she turned to look out to the sea. The sea had so many opportunities and adventures waiting for her. Her goal was to see every island that she could. Travel the world and be free. She didn't have intentions of being a pirate but if she got labeled as one along the way, then so be it. As long as if she was free. She hated the World Government and how they controlled the world. The only Marine she cared about was her father. He would be the only one ever that she cared for. Screw the rest of them. They were no better than the criminals they declared they would capture. Rouge just wanted to be able to do what she pleased with her life, and that's exactly what she was going to do.

She didn't know in that moment just how much her life would change forever. Where the paths of destiny would be taking her next. It would end up being the greatest thing that ever happened to her.

X

Getting to the Grand Line in her tiny boat was a lot harder than Rouge had imagined it would be. All the warnings she had received never prepared her for what she would be facing the second she made it to Reverse Mountain. Just somehow, she would guess that fate was on her side, she was able to get through the rushing waters and into the Grand Line safely.

Her ship had taken a significant amount of damage to it from traveling the rushing, rough waters of the mountain and maintaining it to make sure she could even stay afloat.

Unfortunately – or fortunately, she didn't know yet –, she gained a bounty while she was in the East Blue before she decided to head towards the Grand Line. Apparently being able to take on entire pirate crews by herself and free towns from their clutches had warranted a bounty of a hundred million berries. In her defense, she never faced a Marine. She just happened to punch one in the face for touching her ass.

Having a father for a Marine who insisted learning to fight came in handy. Teaching her how to use her haki completely before she even reached the age of twelve. Unlocking Conqueror's Haki completely by accident when the village had been attacked by mountain bandits when she was a child. She did not look forward to the conversation she was going to have with her father about her bounty and new pirate status in the slightest. Her head already hurt just from the thought alone. That man had his stupid Fist of Love. His love was shown very physically.

Lowkey, it was kind of insulting. She was sure if they were going to put a bounty on her head that it should have been higher than that. More often than not, she ran into pirate crews who devastated towns. Those who plundered and stole whatever they could. Even people. It was disgusting to see these men destroying happy lives. Being a pirate was about living free. Not destroying others. It was one thing to fight another pirate, but to harm innocent civilians was distasteful.

She did get lucky and meet some pirates who were only in it for the adventure and freedom, and the money of course. Can't be a pirate without the love of plundering for treasure apparently. One in particular caught her attention in the form of the captain of the Roger Pirates and Alpha pack leader, Gol D. Roger. He was certainly something else. It seemed to much of a coincidence that she constantly ran into the man wherever she went. The two often talking over drinks at that point. Each time, Rouge would pick pocket the man as they sat together. Taking all the money he had on him before she was leaving him to pay her tab. Rouge would not admit that she was gaining feelings for the man. If you asked her, she would deny it. She didn't know enough about the man to warrant allowing herself to completely catch feelings for him. She had heard stories about this man from her father. He was supposed to be a hardened pirate. This Alpha acted like the opposite.

She even gained the nickname "Hibiscus Rouge" for the hibiscus flower she kept pinned in her hat. She would just wear it tucked behind her ear if it wasn't for the risk of sun exposure. She needed protection on her head and neck. She had bought the hat as a joke originally, liking the beads and the smiley face and frowny face that were on it. It had a pendant hanging off of it of a bull's skull. It was actually a pretty cool hat and went with her curly strawberry blonde hair. She even matched her outfit to it.

Her crop top shirt was black with orange strings connecting the front. Her pants were skintight matched with an orange belt that had a hibiscus flower on the buckle. She kept a thigh pouch for quick access to medications or bandages if she needed it and a knife on her hip. Her other hip held her sword that Dragon had bought for her when she decided she wanted to travel. Dragon stating that she would need something to defend herself with. Unfortunately, she's had to use it multiple times at this point. Her outfit was finished off with knee high black boots with matching orange strings. She did have a long-sleeved jacket that fell to her shins with a hibiscus flower on the back whenever she needed it. It had been a gift from her father. One that she absolutely loved.

She knew that in the Grand Line, she would have to gather some nakama to be able to continue on her journey. It was nothing short of a miracle that she made it here by herself. Especially if she wanted to go to the New World. Her little ship wouldn't be able to make the journey. She definitely needed a better boat at least. She could find someone to coat the ship for the trip to Fishman Island, but her ship would never make it. Not that far. The Grand Line was too unpredictable to be able to navigate her ship through it safely. Between the riches she stole from pirates and what she had taken with her would be more than enough to suffice for the costs. She would admit that it wasn't as enjoyable being by herself in her travels. Someone could only be alone so long before it started to weigh heavily on the mind.

Part of her wondered what her nakama would be like. If she was a pirate now, she might as well either form a crew of her own. A reliable one or join in on another. Captain Roger had already asked her before to come join his crew. She had turned him down every single time. As much as she was sure she would enjoy her time with the Roger Pirates, it didn't feel right. It felt like there was something else out there waiting for her.

X

It was just her luck – or not, she wasn't sure about that yet either – when she got shipwrecked on an island that was under the protection of the Whitebeard Pirates. They were becoming one of the strongest crews around the Grand Line quickly. The leader, Whitebeard had defected from the Rocks Pirates. A strong, violent crew that operated on the Grand Line. Rumor had it that Whitebeard was just a man who wanted a family. Treating his nakama as some sort of treasure. Even calling his nakama "sons" or "daughters". Rouge was intrigued to meet this man if she ever got the chance.

She heard that the same Roger she met back in the East Blue was Whitebeard's dueling partner. The two constantly clashing together when they met up. The clashing of haki being able to completely split the sky in two. For some reason, she wanted to be able to see it.

It also had been just her luck that a rival of Whitebeard's decided to attack said island while she was there waiting for her new ship to be built. The pirate crew had started to ravage the village without remorse. Despite the protection that the island held. This crew was still willing to wage a war on the Whitebeard Pirates just to cause the chaos. Plunder and steal from the innocents who were just trying to live their lives.

Like hell Rouge was just going to stand by and let it happen. With her sword in hand, she fought back. Uncaring of what happened to herself the second she had seen one of the men attack a young child. A small, defenseless child. It had angered her beyond belief seeing the blood on the little girl's face. Just because the pirate had decided that the girl had looked at him wrong.

By the end of it, she was battered and bruised but stood tall over the crew. The captain of the crew at her feet as she heaved in an attempt to catch her breath. Her boot pressed into the back of the man's neck. She wasn't even sure if he was still breathing, but she couldn't find it in herself to actually care. The bastard deserved every second of pain that was inflicted on him.

Not even a few moments later, exhaustion and fatigue caught up to her and she fell unconscious right then and there.

X

When she came too, she was surprised to find herself back in her room at the inn. All of her wounds had been patched up, bandages covering them. She was changed out of her blood-soaked clothes. Now in a set of a soft pair of pajamas. The Omega woman groaned as she sat up on the bed, clutching at her side. She could feel the dull pain running through her body with each movement. Her body screaming at her to stop moving and just rest. A smile came to her face despite the discomfort she was in. The village was safe. She wasn't going to let a crew of pirates ransack the place with all the kind people here. They had shown her such kindness. It was the least she could do for them.

Her attention was caught at the strong Alpha scent and haki came approaching the door. The echoing of something hard hitting the floor with each step. She straightened her back despite the pain that shot up it and prepared herself if she needed to attack. Hand reaching out for her sword. Palm over the grip. She stopped completely as a knock sounded before cracking open.

Standing on the other side was Edward Newgate, the Alpha pack leader and pirate Captain of the Whitebeard Pirates. Whitebeard himself. She knew his face from his bounty poster. Her eyes widened at his mere size. The rumors about his size were no joke. Seeing it in person was almost intimidating. His blonde hair falling to his shoulders and his eyes settling on her. She could stop the fear that coursed through her. This man used to belong to the most violent pirate crew on all of the seas. Who knows what he could do to her? His size alone was enough to have her quaking.

What caught her attention? His white crescent moon shaped mustache. Yes, mustache. No, beard. What man calls themselves Whitebeard and has no beard?!

"I'll be leaving as soon as I can. I don't mean to impose on your territory." Rouge said quickly. She really didn't feel like ending her journey so early on. Hell, she liked her life. She's barely been on the sea for a year. She was sure the Alpha could smell the fear that started to radiate from her. With the state she was in, it was a lot harder to hide her own scent and pheromones from releasing from her glands. An unmated Omega in a room alone with an unmated Alpha. This was never good. Not when the other was a pirate.

Whitebeard chuckled, stepping into the room completely, and shutting the door behind him. The man releasing calming pheromones into the air. Trying to show himself as not a threat. "It's not a problem. Stay as long as you need to. Take the time to rest and heal. You have my gratitude, Hibiscus Rouge." He paused, a smile on his face as he added in, "Word on the sea is that you don't have a crew and are trying to get to the New World. How about you come join my crew?" Holding out his large hand towards her, kneeling down so he could be eye-to-eye with her.

Rouge didn't want to admit that her jaw dropped. Her brain short circuiting for the split second. He wanted her to join his crew? She was expecting something completely different, especially from the pirates she had encountered in the past. This was something else. Why was Whitebeard of all people asking her to join his crew? She was a rookie who didn't even care about being a pirate in the first place.

On top of being an Omega, which was frowned upon for sailing the ocean alone. Let alone even being on a pirate crew. Yet here he was sitting next to her with his hand extended out to her. Despite the differences in their strength and power.

She swallowed the lump in her throat. Her mind racing with all possible scenarios of what could come from this with whatever decision she made. She did need a new ship and she was still alone. She hadn't had another chance to try and find some nakama. It was getting harder to travel around by herself and make it to the next destination safely. Her next heat was due at any time and without more suppressants, she was going to be vulnerable. Within Whitebeard's crew, she could travel and be protected at the same time. She smiled.

In the end, she didn't even need to question it.

This wasn't like when Roger would ask her to come be on his crew.

This time… it felt right.

"I'd be honored, Whitebeard-san."

X

She had thanked the villagers for taking the time to built her ship, apologizing profusely for their wasted time on the vessel. Giving all the riches she had left to cover the costs that it had been to built as well for the workers. Giving extra for the troubles.

They had just smiled at her. Showing their own gratitude for what she had done for them. It was no issue to her. She would do it again. Whitebeard had stayed on the island with her while she recovered from injuries. She had met the entire crew over the course of the time on the island. The men helping the villagers rebuilt what had been broken during the raid from the rival crew.

It was almost surreal. These men were now her nakama. There were also women on the ship. Though, Whitebeard initially had a rule against women being involved in conflict. It had been the same rule with Omegas. Rouge had snapped the second that she had heard it. Stating that is not what it's like to be free if you still had to abide by rules. She could understand the rule against killing your own nakama. Nakama were precious. Keeping others from fighting infuriated her. She had almost left then and there.

The young apprentice, Whitey Bay, had immediately taken a liking to her in that moment. Rouge had made it clear that Whitebeard would never be able to stop her if she wanted to be in a fight. Just from her strength along on the sea would be enough to show that she meant business.

Whitebeard had lifted that rule thankfully. She would have defected immediately if he tried to take her ability to fight. It as her choice to come out onto the sea. It would be her choice to fight. No one would take that from her. Not even if she knew for positive that Whitebeard could protect her from harm. She knew she'd be safe. She'd have a home aboard his ship, but she had a sort of thrill fighting. She needed to be able to defend herself. She wanted to fight alongside her nakama. They were her family now. You protected your family.

That was exactly what Rouge was going to do now.

X

Traveling with Whitebeard, she noticed quickly just how family like his crew was. All the rumors about the man being true. He was such a kind soul. Gentle hearted despite how powerful he was. All of his nakama called the Alpha "Oyaji".

It tugged at her heart strings hearing how her Captain and nakama interacted with each other. There was so much respect and loyalty that ran through them. It literally was a large found family. A family of all different shapes and sizes. Gender. Secondary genders. Just like anyone who needed a home or pack would find a place among Whitebeard's ranks. Whitebeard just called them "Children of the Sea", not caring where any of them came from or who they could be related too.

She noticed really quickly how much the pain would not tolerate someone speaking ill of someone based off of their gender or dynamic. Even if he had that stupid rule about women and Omegas not fighting. He did lift the Omega rule permanently after more Omega men started to join the ranks. More of the women who could absolutely fight were being allowed too. Just like herself and Bay. Though, Eddie knew he wouldn't be able to stop her. No matter what he did.

He had explained why he had the rule. It wasn't because he thought they were weaker than their Alpha and Beta counterparts or even their male counterparts. It was because of their ability to bear children. He wanted to protect them. She did get her point across that it was a form of discrimination to ban them. If he truly loved his children, he would give them the right to choose what they wanted to do. Even if it meant fighting. Surprisingly, he had agreed with her.

Unlike the others who called the Alpha "Oyaji" she fondly would call him Eddie after his real name. She was brought officially into his pack and took on the role of being a mother figure despite her age of only eighteen. She was treated as an equal to the other Omegas and even the Betas and Alphas of the crew. It wasn't often that she found a person who didn't look down on an Omega who wasn't an Omega themselves.

She loved it with the crew. It was completely different from the others she had seen during her time on the sea. She even took his mark which she placed on her upper chest of a cross with his crescent mustache. If she needed to, she could always cover it up with clothes if she wanted. She was proud to be a member of Eddie's crew and was proud to show off her mark. She even allowed for him to give her a pack bond, signifying to others that she was protected underneath Whitebeard.

She had become close to Bay the most. The Alpha apprentice becoming like a little sister to her. Bay was fierce. Even cold at times, but she was a fighter. She wanted to end the discrimination and harassment that all women faced on the seas. Show that anyone could be whatever they wanted. Bay sure as hell was going to prove it.

X

She was with the Whitebeard pirates for about a year by the time that they ran into the Roger Pirates again. It led to a clash between both crews. It was the first time she got to see the power of Roger's haki. See the famed encounter between the two Alphas as their haki clashed together. Glowing and radiating the red visualization of the haki over their blades. Their blades not even touching each other with the strength between the two. The area around them being destroyed and the sky ripping apart. It was absolutely beautiful.

When the clash took place, she had embedded her own sword in haki, stabbing it into the ground and hanging onto Bay. Keeping the younger pirate close to her side as the force of the wind forced her hair into her face. Her eyes stinging and burning as she forced them to stay open. Just so she could watch a little while longer.

She was absolutely amazed.

When the two finally stopped. It had completely stunned her to see them laughing. Exchanging pleasantries before both crews were ordered to rob the other.

Rouge happily took on Rayleigh, even if she knew she was at a loss against the Alpha, as Whitebeard continued his clash with Roger. She had gotten to know the Roger Pirates back in the Blue seas and Rayleigh, she would say, was a friend. Rayleigh had a smirk settled on his face as they crossed swords. They embedded their blades just to keep them from getting damaged as they collided together. A smile of pure happiness on Rouge's face as she felt the same thrill of fighting go through her.

By the end of it, her back was on the ground with Rayleigh standing over her with a grin. The point of his sword directly by her face. Purposely done to show that the Alpha had beaten her without actually harming her.

Rayleigh had helped her off the ground as she dusted herself off. Ridding herself of the dirt that coated her clothes now. By this point, most of the two crews had already stopped fighting and ended up eating lunch together while Roger and Whitebeard were still fighting. Their weapons crashing in loud surges of haki covered metal.

While the two Alpha Captains fought it out, she sat with Rayleigh and ate her lunch. She didn't miss the way that Roger would cast glances her way and throw a smile at her. That same large grin that was normally plastered on his face only getting bigger whenever his eyes would land on her. She would simply roll her eyes and return to her conversation with Rayleigh each time.

Eventually, the two Captains ended in a stand-off, calling a cease fire before they sat down for a night of drinking and partying. The two crews swapped supplies, exchanging what could be best used in wherever they would be making their next journey since the two would be going in opposite directions. Going as far as to do a gift exchange.

As the night progressed, members of both crews were saying their goodnights and heading off to their respective ships or camp outs to get some sleep. It left only Rouge and Roger. Roger had made his way over to the Omega, taking a seat next to her by the fire that she sat at.

The two sat in silence as she drank from her bottle and him from his tankard. Roger's presence was comforting to Rouge. His scent was intoxicating. Strawberries and coffee bean. It was an odd mixture, but she loved it, nonetheless. She didn't miss the way that her heart would skip a beat whenever Roger was sitting next to her. His shoulder bumping into hers with the close proximity that they were sitting next to each other. Grinning at her with a smile on his face with the straw hat balanced on his head. She hesitated as she looked back at him, seeing just how close their faces were to each other. She could feel his breath lingering on her lips. The goosebumps that came up onto her skin.

Before she knew it, she leaned forward and connected their lips together.

That was the first time they slept together triggering her heat and his rut early, and Rouge left with a fancy new mating bond on her neck. Leaving her own fixed into his bond gland. Taking great pride in being the one that Roger had picked as his mate. That night he had presented her with a traditional trinket. A small, personalized pendant that hung onto a golden chain. The pendant engraved with a hibiscus flower. The new necklace now hanging around her neck.

Something about it felt so right to her.

Like it was her destiny all over again telling her this was meant to happen.

It sure had a funny way of showing it.

X

The months passed and Rouge found herself constantly on edge. Something was off. Her own instincts were through the roof. If someone outside of the pack even went near the younger nakama, she found herself growling and standing in front of them protectively. Snarling at them while baring her teeth. She had stuck even closer to Bay. Keeping the younger pirate close to her at all times. Even though she knew they could all take care of themselves.

She noticed the change in her scent too. Her normal saffron and cherry blossom scent radiated stronger around her. Almost suffocatingly so too even herself. She also noticed Eddie was getting more protective of her. Even her other nakama were strangely surrounding her at all moments.

That was until one day it all clicked for her when she started to get sick at the smell of cooking meat, namely beef, and throwing up meals that she loved before. The newfound constant nausea was the worst. At first, she had thought she had just been hit with seasickness, but the other symptoms and how her nakama was acting towards her told her otherwise.

Also, with the newfound craving of chocolate which she barely tolerated before.

She was pregnant.

She went and got confirmation from the ship's doctors and with a held breath she waited outside of Eddie's room that night. She bit her lip as she knocked on the door and heard his voice notifying her that she could come in.

Opening the door, she slid in and smiled at Eddie as she closed it behind her. The smell of his scent reaching her nose first and foremost out of everything. Reaching out to be as reassuring as possible.

"Eddie, I need to talk to you." She stated. Whitebeard straightened up on his bed as Rouge took a seat on the edge of it. The bed moving underneath her additional weight. Her hand subconsciously fell onto her stomach. Almost as if she was placing a shield between her unborn pup and the world. "I need to leave for a while, and I'm not sure when I will be back… or if I will ever be back." The Omega didn't have to tell her pack leader what was going on for him to know. Just the knowing look coming to his face based off of his soft smile.

Whitebeard gave her a large grin. Whitebeard always had an incredibly sensitive nose and was able to pick up on things long before Rouge ever could. "Take as much time as you need. My ship is always opened for you, and you know that." In his eyes, she could see that he wanted to try and talk her into staying but Rouge had to make this decision. "You are my family, Rouge. This place will always be your home. No matter how far you go or how long you leave for. You do what you need to do."

The Omega smiled at him, tears coming to her eyes at the thought of leaving behind the people she had come to know as family. This decision was harder than she thought, but she couldn't stay. Not even as much as she wanted too. "I'll be back one day." She whispered.

That was a promise.

Even if it took years, she would come back home.

Whitebeard reached out and placed his hand on her shoulder. His large hand practically draping over her body. It was such a comforting feeling. The secure, silent moment going between them in those few quiet seconds. The Alpha emitting his protecting and calming pheromones, the same ones that always helped in soothing down Rouge's own instincts. "You do what you need to do."

Rouge smiled, sighing in content as Whitebeard brought her into his arms. His large arm wrapped around her back as she buried his nose into his chest. Relishing in the feel. They stayed like that for a moment before he pulled away and reached into his drawer, pulling out a slip of paper. "This is my vivre card. Use this to come back to us." She smiled grabbing it from him and slipping it into her pocket.

She reached into her pocket, her own vivre card prepared and ready. Handing over a piece to her pack leader with that small smile still gracing her lips. "Like wise, Captain."

"Be careful, Rouge."

X

Departing from her nakama was heartbreaking, she cried as she waved to them as her boat drifted away from the Moby Dick. The tears streaming down her face as she continued to wave. Calling out to them. It tore her heart apart to see their slowly disappearing forms. Bay practically hanging off the rail as she yelled for Rouge to come home one day.

The entire crew was standing on the deck waving her off with their own goodbyes. Their voices becoming a large mixture that she couldn't even make out who was who anymore. Whitebeard also stood there. That same reassuring smile on his face as he waved his hand. Though the hesitance was in his eyes. To her, it looked like Whitebeard tried to stop her again, but she couldn't bring herself to stay with the crew during her pregnancy. She would only be a hindrance if they got into an altercation with another crew or the Marines. She had to go rather she genuinely wanted to or not. For her sake, her pup's, and the crew's.

Once they were out of sight, she finally sat down and placed a hand on her stomach. Roger was currently on the other half of the Grand Line from what she could remember from their last encounter, so it would be a while before she saw him again. She wondered what Roger would think of her pregnancy. She wondered if he knew. Sometimes, Alphas could tell when their mates were pregnant just through their bonds with each other.

She rubbed soothing circles in her abdomen as she started to hum softly. Humming to the tune of Bink's Sake. Her pup was growing. A small, little innocent life forming within her womb. Waiting to be set out into the world to create a life of their own. A mixture of her and the love of her life. A small smiled played on her lips at the thought. She wondered what kind of person he or she would be. What secondary gender would they be? Would they be like Roger or her? What would they look like? So many questions ran through her mind in that moment.

She smiled and looked up to the open sky. This was a good thing. A really good thing. She just hoped to one day reunite with Roger and let him know he had a pup on the way.

Would he be happy? Upset? She didn't know. They never did have a chance to talk about children and what their futures could hold. Having pups as a pirate was dangerous. The pup got branded as a criminal just for the existence of their parents' sins. The best way to keep it from happening was to retire from piracy or the life of crime and rebrand yourself away from where your homeland was. Away from your crew.

If the situation could turn bad, her pup was the child of her Captain's rival. Part of her had been terrified to even attempt to tell Eddie who her pup's father was. She never did get the words out. Just that she needed to leave. She would be fine. Even if she had to hide their existence. Their pup would get to live the life that they wanted. Not what Rouge wanted. It wasn't about her anymore. She had a new life to think about.

She just wasn't sure where life would take her from here, but she knew she would be perfectly okay. She had her pup now.

X

Halfway through her pregnancy she found herself in the West Blue, accidentally taking the wrong turn at Reverse Mountain and ending up in the wrong sea. It was getting exceptionally harder to travel so she sat herself up on an island there. A small island called Lotus Peak. A place known for its lotus flowers. It was so divine and beautiful on the island. Tropical and perfect.

With the money she had with her, she bought a home on the island that she would use until she could leave. She just had to wait a while longer before she could return back to her crew and Eddie. No matter how long it took before that moment.

She just had that gut feeling again that she would be able to return home to them.

X

Her stomach was growing bigger as the life in her began to blossom. She changed from her normal attire, which very unfortunately no longer fit properly. Deciding on wearing dresses instead for the comfortability they provided.

Lotus Peak was thankfully a neutral island, that was also protected by natural currents in the sea, so she didn't have to worry about other pirates or the Marines. She had specifically chosen this place because of the safety it provided. The townspeople told her that pirates and Marines never tended to stop on the island since they had little to offer. At most, they would get the occasional visitor because of how beautiful the island was. It really was.

The villagers were nice enough, telling her of the empty home that she could stay in. Directing her towards her small new home on the top of the hill. It was a perfect little place for her and her pup to start a life. They even had a doctor who lived in the village who offered her services.

It was peaceful.

She had wished she could have made it back to Dawn Island, but she had feared that she wouldn't make it before her pup was born. It was safer for her to remain where she was at. Safer for her pup. It had been getting a lot harder to hide her pregnancy whenever she would make a supply stop.

She had still yet to hear from Roger or his crew. The last she had seen; they were still within the New World. She had kept in contact with Eddie the best she could. Using a special den den mushi to keep in contact with him. Notifying him of any changes or if the need to arise for him to come to her.

She never needed it.

At one point, Dragon had showed up on the island. The Alpha surprised to find his sister there alone and pregnant. It took a lot of convincing to keep him from hunting down Roger after she told him who her pup's father was. Her stupid elder brother was overprotective of his family. Had always been for as long as she could remember. The first thought that had ran through his mind had been that Roger had used her. She cleared that up right away, refusing to hear Dragon talk about her mate in such a way.

She could feel him through her bond mark. The excitement and joy that radiated through it. She knew deep down that Roger would come find her and their pup. She just had to be patient.

Right now, she had to protect her unborn pup. From her bounty and the rest of the world. Dragon was working on fixing that within the world. It hadn't taken long for him to make a name of himself, becoming the leader of the Revolutionary Army and spreading his cause throughout all the seas. Gaining even more members of his army as he continued on. His strength becoming massively impressive. Rouge was damn proud of her brother for standing up in what he believed in. She had heard from him time and time again of his hatred of the World Government and the desire to change the world. If anyone could do it, it would be Dragon.

He stayed for close to a month before he had to take his leave from the island. Mostly to stay under the radar and also to keep Rouge safe. If they caught word of Dragon being on the island, it would only bring the Marines after him that wanted his head.

With the tearful goodbye, the siblings parted ways. Rouge with a piece of Dragon's vivre card and him with hers. Both promising that if they were ever in need, they would be there for each other. Dragon had vowed to her that nothing would happen to her pup if he had a say. It was comforting. Her elder brother, always watching out for her.

As she was nearing the end of her pregnancy, her father finally found her. The first time they have had contact with each other since the moment she had left home. He had initially tried to use his "Fist of Love" on her when they first encountered each other but stopped almost immediately upon the change of her scent and the swell of her stomach.

Tearfully, he fell to his knees and placed his cheek against her growing stomach. Despite how hard the Alpha came off as, he was a big softie for his family at times even if they were criminals. Babies mostly. Babies were the way to Garp's heart.

After their moment, Garp was back on his feet and his face transformed back into what Rouge dubbed "Marine Bastard". Garp going on to spew the nonsense of wishing she had joined the Marines instead of becoming a pirate. She, on the other hand, defended her decision stating she wanted to be free of the rules of the government. She never initially set out to be a pirate. It just kind of… happened. It was the World Government who dubbed her a pirate. Put a bounty on her head despite the fact that she had originally only fought against criminals. If they were going to brand her a pirate, so be it. She would be one. Now, she was a full-fledged pirate. Being within the ranks of one of the strongest crews on the seas.

It was always a losing fight between the two. Garp often tried to talk "sense" into both her and Dragon. Though at this point, Garp and Dragon haven't talked in years. If they had, neither of the men spoke about it. He would say he had raised them to be Marines. Yeah, raised. More often than not, she was raised by the villagers in Foosha.

Her mother, Portgas D. Shay, had died not long into her childhood. She remembered her beautiful red hair and red wine-colored eyes. Her mother was the kindest and most generous person that she ever met. She was a strong-willed Omega woman who only entered confrontation when it came to people she cared about. Other than that, she could care less. She hated conflict and fighting but would if it came down to it.

Not a day went by that Rouge didn't miss her mother. Shay had been such an influence on her life. Telling her to follow her heart and be whatever she wanted to be in this life. Even if it meant breaking the status quo. Breaking the rules of the world. If only her father had heard that. It was almost ironic. She wondered what her mother would think now if she saw what her children have become.

Oddly enough, seeing her father made her cry buckets of tears. Despite the resentment that was there. The estrangement. Garp was still her father. He was there for her in the moments she needed someone the most.

Garp had called Sengoku and notified him that he wouldn't be back at Headquarters for a while before promptly hanging up without explanation. It was such a Garp fashion thing to do. Rouge couldn't be happier at that moment. Her pup was due to arrive any day and her father was being oddly supportive. Despite when she told him who the pup's father was, he stated that he would stick by her side. He just rolled his eyes and said, "Figures."

The day had finally come for her pup to arrive, she could feel the slight cramps as they had started. Gradually getting stronger and closer together throughout the day before finally her water broke. The contractions began to worsen after that. Getting stronger with each one that racked her body. She was laid up as comfortably as she could be on her bed as the doctor and nurses worked around her in preparation. Having everything prepared in the case if something went wrong. If her pup went into distress. If she went into distress. Having what they needed for the moment that her baby finally made it into this world.

True to his word, Garp was still here with her. Finally, the time had come, and she was fully dilated. It was finally time.

She breathed through each contraction. The waves of pain ripping through her body. When the contraction hit, she was instructed to push for a ten count. She gripped on tightly to her father's hand, his pheromones spreading around her to keep her as calm as possible. Her father whispering reassurances and praises as her body worked to do the natural process. It kept her head clear as she managed to focus on the task at hand. This continued on as she went through ten more contractions before she felt the release and the pressure stopped.

A cry ripped through the room of her pup, and she took a breath of relief. Slumping back against her pillows in exhaustion. Tears were in her eyes as her newborn pup was placed on her chest. Her eyes settling directly on his small face.

She let out a cry of happiness as she lifted her hand to rub it against the pup's cheek. Garp took the honor of cutting the umbilical cord as the doctor handled the afterbirth and giving Rouge a few stitches that she needed. When she was finished, the nurses took it upon themselves to clean up the blood that was caking the inside of Rouge's thighs.

The Omega pirate could care less at what they were doing as she stared at her pup. A boy. Her sweet baby boy. Her son.

A head full of red hair decorated his head, and she could see freckles dusting over his cheeks. His face had already been cleaned off and a gel rubbed over his eyes to protect him from any bacteria that might have gotten into his eyes during the birthing process. From the small crack of him opening his eyes, she could see the slight grey color to them. In a few months, she would know what his eye color was going to be for the rest of his life.

She continued to look him over, using a small rag to clean off the fluids from his body. Once she was finished, she wrapped him up in a blanket. She already knew quickly that her pup would need to be checked over but for now, just mesmerizing in the moment of him being in her arms. She wanted to cry with how much he looked like her deceased mother.

Just looking at him, she knew what his name was going to be.

Garp pushed her bangs back out of her face as she leaned against the pillows, running his fingers through her hair. "What are you going to name him?"

Rouge gave a tired smile. Fifteen hours of labor and twenty minutes of pushing and her pup was finally here. Everything that she had gone through within the past months was out the window. The sadness in her heart from missing her pack was quickly masked with the delight of seeing her pup's face.

She had the perfect name for him.

"His name is… Gol D. Shanks."

She stayed on the island for four years, watching as her pup started to grow into a beautiful young boy. Four beautiful, amazing years living on Lotus Peak. Watching her son grow and flourish. His red hair growing shaggy on his head. Hair falling more into his face now. Coming down in slight waves when it got long enough. Taking after Rouge's own curly hair. His eyes ended up gaining a greyish-black color with a slight mixture of red if you looked close enough. It reminded her of storm clouds. His freckles never went away but would look concealed if her son stayed in the sun for a long period of time. His skin tone was definitely closer to Roger's. Having a more natural tanned look to it compared to her paler like skin.

He was such a happy child. Finding joy in everything. She would constantly see him looking out to sea, just like she had done for years when growing up. Seems like her and Roger's love of the sea passed on to their pup. He had grown into his scent and Rouge loved it. He smelled like cherry blossoms and strawberries. A perfect mixture of hers and Roger's. She also noticed quickly that her son was an Omega. Between his mannerism and instincts, it was clear as day.

It did place an unsettling fear into the pit of her stomach. Just from her own experiences on the sea. She didn't want her son's dreams to get crushed. The world to break his spirit. He had such a wonderful outlook on life that she didn't want to see squashed by the harsh realities of the world.

He would face it one day, but that didn't mean Rouge wasn't going to try her hardest to make sure that it never happened.

Around the time of Shanks' fourth birthday, Roger finally made it to the island. He had apologized profusely to her for not being able to get to her sooner. Having run into trouble on more than one occasion as he traveled. The biggest had been the God Valley Incident. Where Roger had made a temporary alliance with Garp. The two forces working together to take down Rocks D. Xebec. Whitebeard's former Captain. The man that Whitebeard detested for his violent ways. The ways he would treat Omegas and women. The exact type of person that Rouge despised with every part of her being.

Rouge had kept up with his adventures in the paper, reading them and retelling them back to Shanks whenever she could. It brought her so much joy to see the way that Shanks' face would light up at the mention of his father. Hearing how powerful the man was.

She also told him of Eddie and her own crew as well as her own adventures. Shanks getting the same look in his eye. Rouge should have known what would come from her son next. It was practically obvious to her.

Shanks had proudly exclaimed that he would be a pirate one day. She snickered at the thought on her father's face if had he heard those words come from his grandson's mouth.

The moment that Roger and Shanks met for the first time would be forever burned into her mind. Shanks didn't need to see a picture of him or be told for him to recognize his father. It had been an instant click. He had just known who the man standing before him was. Rather it was by the blood bond or his scent, Shanks was instantly in his arms. Small arms wrapped around his father's neck.

Roger cried as he cradled his pup in his arms. His straw hat hiding his face from Rouge's sight. She didn't need to see it to know he was grinning. That same large grin that was always on Roger's face.

As they were in their embrace, Rouge whispered, "His name is Gol D. Shanks."

When he pulled away, he pulled his hat off of his head and placed it directly on Shanks' head. "Keep this safe for me, will you?" Roger said to him. Shanks gave his father a toothy smile and a nod. "Why don't you go play for a little bit? My crew is outside and I'm sure they would love to see you. I need to talk to your mom for a moment." Shanks looked over his shoulder to Rouge. Rouge nodded, giving her approval to her child before the large smile returned to his face and he was running out the door.

Leaving only Roger and Rouge in the house. Roger always seemed to read her like an open book since as soon as the door closed, he said, "You want to return to them, don't you?"

Rouge chuckled but nodded. "Yeah, I do. I miss my nakama. I've been gone for over four years..." She paused as the sad smile slipped onto her face. "I read about them in the newspapers. I have a den den mushi to contact them… but it's not the same."

Roger smiled as he leaned against the kitchen counter. His head tilting to the side as he leveled his eyes on her. "You know, you can always go back to them. You know Newgate wouldn't let anything happen to Shanks."

A smile came to Rouge's face at the thought of Eddie and how he would react with Shanks on board of the Moby Dick. He would be over the moon. Though, that would be unfair of her. Not for her crew… but for Roger. He already missed four years of his son's life. "I don't know."

Roger sighed, stepping forward and placing his hands on Rouge's biceps. The weight on her arms being a comforting force as his palms moved over her exposed skin. "Rouge, if you want to go back, go. It will be okay."

The Omega shook her head, sighing as she tucked some of her hair behind her ear. "It's not that…" She whispered, looking out the window to see Rayleigh throwing Shanks up in the air. His little body shaking with laughter as the smile only getting bigger. She sighed as she added, "I want him to have you in his life."

The silence fell among them for a moment before another grin came to Roger's face. "How about I take him on my ship as an apprentice for a while. Me and Newgate duel a lot so whenever that happens, we can switch. I have him for a little bit, then you do."

The thought ran through Rouge's head. The thought of being separated from her son tore at her heartstrings, but she did want to return back to her crew. It's been so long since she's seen them, and her pack bond was aching for them. On the other hand, it was a good proposition. Shanks would have his father in his life. She could theoretically join the Roger Pirates, but she was a Whitebeard pirate through and through. The mark still decorating her chest in purple ink. A mark that she was proud of. One that showed who her family was. Who her loyalties laid with. She wasn't a Roger Pirate. She was a Whitebeard Pirate.

"Mommy, I would be okay! I would be with daddy and Uncle Rayleigh!" Shanks exclaimed, bringing her out of her thoughts.

She turned to face him and gave him a gentle smile. "Shanks, sweetheart…"

Shanks walked forward, reaching up and clutching onto her pants with his fists. "I promise to be on my best behavior! You want to go back to Papa Eddie, don't you! I'll get to meet them one day!" He paused as he looked down to the ground for a moment, before his head was snapping back up with a shout of, "I want you to be happy, mommy!"

Rouge felt the tears prickle her eyes as she kneeled down in front of her pup. "Shanks, you make me happy."

Shanks just grinned at her. A grin that matched Roger's almost too perfectly. "They are your pack too! I'll be okay! We'll see each other soon, wouldn't we?"

Rouge sighed but smiled anyway. There was no winning against this pup. His way with words was almost flawless. "Alright. I promise you, if you need me, I will be there." She reached behind her neck to unclasp the necklace that she wore before reaching around her son's neck and reclasping it. "Take this. I'm always with you."

Shanks gave her a teary-eyed smile as his fingertips came up and touched the pendant. "I love you, mommy."

The Omega woman brought her son into her arms. A hand on the back of his head as she ran her fingers through his hair. Inhaling his scent as she rubbed her cheek against his. "I love you too, Shanks."

With it decided, Rouge watched tearfully as Shanks departed the island with his father. Her Omega son sitting on Roger's shoulder as he waved back at her with promises to see her again. She waved them off with her own belongings already packed away in her boat.

She already contacted Eddie to notify him she was on her way. They were going to meet up at Arabasta in the Grand Line since it was the perfect middle point for all of them.

With her favorite outfit on and hat on top of her head, she waved off the villagers she had gotten to know over the last four years and set back out on her journey. She wondered just how long it would be before she saw her mate and son again. Her thoughts venturing the Shanks more often than not. This had been the first time they had ever been away from each other for a long period of time. She was sure with Roger by his side, he would adjust quickly. Probably have the excitement of being on a pirate ship to distract him for a while before Roger would need to worry about anything.

Shanks was safe with them. Roger would never let anything happen to him. If anything did, Roger would be the first ass she would be kicking. Shanks was her entire world.

Though, she knew that it wouldn't be an issue. Roger wouldn't let him get hurt. Not if he had a say in it.

With a deep breath, she climbed into her boat and started off back onto her own journey.

Four long years.

Four amazing years of being away.

She was finally going home.

X

Thankfully, her trip was a lot quicker than it had been before. At least it felt like it was quicker. She summed it down to her excitement of seeing her nakama again. There hadn't been any significant issues that had gotten in her way as she made the journey. Reverse Mountain agreed with her this time and sent her into the Grand Line. Her handling of her ship was a lot better this time than it was the first time she made this type of journey.

Technically, she could have asked Eddie to travel to the West Blue and pick her up from Lotus Peak, but that would mean waiting longer for her pack. Waiting longer to return home. Back where she truly belonged. Despite the pain she felt of being separated from her son, she was still beyond happy that she was returning back to the Moby Dick. It was where she truly belonged.

A part of her felt like Shanks belonged on the Oro Jackson with his father. That it was where he was meant to be. The thought hurt, but it was one of those moments that it felt like it was the right choice. Fate screaming into her ear that she was making the fine choice to allow Shanks to become a Roger Pirate Apprentice. The Oro Jackson would be his home from now on. He would become a part of Roger's pack and found family. Shanks' family had only gotten bigger. This is what it was always supposed to be. She somehow just knew. She could never place how she knew all of it. How these instincts going through her managed to persuade her decisions.

She was curious to know just how much more the crew had grown. They had constantly been getting new nakama due to Eddie's forcible acquisition of most of them or even their own exclamations of loyalty to the man. Last she heard, they were a lot larger than the Roger pirates, gaining even more among their ranks. Their strength growing and growing as the time passed.

She cried when she finally laid eyes on them again in Arabasta. The Moby Dick already waiting for her as her boat pulled up next to it. Her nakama cheered her arrival as she climbed up onto the ship. It hadn't taken but a few seconds before she was being surrounded. The first person to get to her was Bay. The Alpha attaching to her side with a content sigh. Her hand falling on top of the girl's head. They had all grown so much since the last time she had seen them. She could feel how much stronger they were. It made her so happy to see it.

As she broke away from the others, her smile got bigger as she approached Eddie. The tears coming to her eyes once more as she rushed forward, Whitebeard already waiting for her with his arm open. Her nose going straight into his chest as she inhaled his scent. His arm wrapped around her back.

She was home.

"Welcome home, Rouge."
