Impossible

Author's Note: Hey everyone and welcome back to Impossible! I hope you are liking the fic so far! Just please be aware and mindful that this fic is starting to go darker! So please tread with caution! This will be no holds barred so I'm just going for it. Any dark theme could show up within the chapters from here on out. On with the fic!

Additional Notes: I won't be doing much of the Roger Pirates since a lot of that is strictly canon. More of just a touch and go since I covered part of it within Rouge's backstory.

This is Explicit so there will be also sex/smut scenes as well as anything else. I figured if you guys are going to read non-consensual quite a bit in this fic, I would at least put a balance of consensual in too. It's already rated Explicit xD this could go for any of the pairings within the fic. Mihawk/Shanks. Marco/Ace. Luffy/Law. So, I'll let you know the cut offs for it that way you could skip it if you want. I don't think I have said this before, but Alpha Females and Omega Males are intersex! I will be describing heats/ruts in a more Omegaverse/descriptive manner compared to the other fics. Just so you guys are aware!

Trigger warning on: Every perfect reality… skip to the next line break if you don't want to read this part. It does contain Attempted Sexual Assault!

Smut warning starting at: He had stayed in Loguetown…

Now, I have a decision to make before the main storyline starts xD am I knocking up Ace like in They Don't Know About Us or following the original storyline of "Fight Together" where he isn't xD decisions. Decisions. Decisions. I dunno. What would you want? I could work with either within this fic. I seriously don't know xD

Chapter Three: The Roger Pirate Apprentice: Gol D. Shanks

Chapter Summary: When Shanks joins the Roger Pirates as an apprentice, he travels the seas with his father. He soon discovers what Omegas are treated like on the sea and the horrors that they face. He meets an aspiring Swordsman named Dracule Mihawk. As his father is crowned Pirate King, he witnesses the execution of his father. In Loguetown, he meets Mihawk again.

He had grown up on a small island in the West Blue known as Lotus Peak. It was a beautiful small island. One that was littered in the same flowers that its namesake came from. Shanks loved the little island, but he knew that there was more out there. Staring at the sea for hours at a time. A smile on his face. His father was out there. He was a pirate named Roger from what his mother told him. He loved his life on this small island, but he wanted more. He wanted to go on adventures and see the world. Just like his parents did. He would one day. He knew it.

Just after his fourth birthday, Roger had showed up on the island alongside his nakama. Shanks didn't even need to be told to know that the Alpha standing before him was his father. He had just known. Roger had taken off the straw hat on his head, placing it on his own within a silent gesture.

His parents had spoke to each other. Having a conversation about his future. How Rouge could return back to her own nakama, while also allowing Shanks to be with Roger now that the two had officially met. Shanks was sure he had given his mother all the push that she needed to finally make the choice that he knew would make her happy. He loved his mother, but he wanted her to be just as happy as he was.

Just barely four years old, he had set sail alongside the Roger Pirates, becoming the first apprentice to the infamous Gol D. Roger.

X

Not long into his apprenticeship, and returning back to the Grand Line, they came across an Alpha boy named Buggy. An orphan boy with no where to go. One who was just slightly younger than Shanks was. Fighting for his life every single day on the streets of his hometown. Roger had immediately taken the boy in, bringing him aboard the Oro Jackson as his other apprentice.

Shanks was glad to have someone his age around. Someone that he was able to go to. Someone who became his friend. His brother. It was almost as soon as Buggy came aboard the Oro Jackson that they became inseparable. Even when they would fight and bicker with each other, they always stuck by each other's side. Having each other's backs. One that had turned into a sworn brotherhood over a shared cup of sake and a newfound bond mark on his wrist. Buggy's nails digging into his skin to form the physical bond between them.

As the years started to go by, Buggy didn't have an interest in power, but his interest in gold and plundering was exceptionally higher than what Shanks' was. Shanks worked on his strength. His swordsmanship and haki included. Getting stronger every day.

He was traveling the world. Doing exactly what he wanted to do. He got to see his mother often just like what Roger had promised to him. He never did travel with her and the Whitebeard Pirates. Just earning a loving "have a great adventure" instead before she would send him off with Roger again. She never did explain why she did it. If it was because Shanks was more than just Roger's son but an actual member of the crew or it was her instincts again. He was just happy that he got to see her. His heart would ache at times, screaming out for his mother, but Roger would seek her out in those moments. Allowing Shanks that time to have with his mother under the guise of wanting to duel against Whitebeard.

It was perfect.

His life was perfect. At least in his mind.

X

He had been with the Roger Pirates for six years when Roger had contracted a terminal illness. One that couldn't be cured. It was earth shattering the second Roger had came up to him and notified him to what would happen to him in the future.

Part of Shanks wondered if this is what Rouge's instincts were telling her. That he would have a limited time with Roger and to allow them to spend as much time as they could together before it would all come to an end.

The urgency to find the last island hit more than ever. They had sought out a doctor at Reverse Mountain named Crocus to help make sure that Roger could see that day.

Even with this, Shanks still loved his life. Now, he had even more to treasure. He had the time with his father to treasure.

X

Every perfect reality always came with its downsides. Shanks had quickly learned what it was like being an Omega on the seas. How much his life would actually be harder compared to someone like Buggy, who had been born an Alpha. He had noticed the way that everyone would speak to Buggy before ever addressing him. The eyes that would linger on him. He had made him self conscious in a way. Wanting to do what he could to mask his pheromones and scent just so he wouldn't have to deal with it. He would rather pass himself off as a Beta than have to see those looks coming his way. It made him uncomfortable to say the least.

Betas had it easier. They had the instincts that their counterparts did, but they had a natural advantage of being able to control them. They didn't go through a heat or a rut. They seemed like ordinary people who could get an instinctual boost. One that made them stronger just like the others did. They were known as the most levelheaded out of all of them because of this fact. They were good to have alongside the others just because they could stay levelheaded. That was unless they went into a what was known as a Fury. The equivalent of an Alpha's Rage of an Omega's Frenzy. It's when their instincts were at their peak.

Shanks could easily pass off as one if he wanted too. He never had an issue dealing with his Omega side. Roger and Rayleigh had made sure that both of them had the proper education and training to know exactly what to do if the need rose.

The first time that he ever had to deal with someone trying to use his secondary gender against him had came in the form of a group of teenage boys that he came across with Buggy on a supply island that so just happened to be lawless. They had zoned in on him quickly. It was clear they had known more about their own instincts and what they could use.

Shanks growled as he had reached for his sword. Two of the boys had grabbed Buggy by his arms, hauling him away from them as the blue-haired Alpha fought to get away. It had actually taken him by surprise that the Alpha boy looming over him had managed to knock his sword out of his hand. The pheromones he was radiating trying to force him to submit to him.

Shanks acted just like a veteran pirate. Both him and Buggy did, but yet this teenager had been able to get his sword away from him. He wasn't even sure if it was because there was a cloud over his mind. He had been feeling off the last few days. Pushing the feeling aside as possible seasickness. It happened to the best of them. It had still yet to go away. The twist of his gut. The way his clothes would stick uncomfortably to his body. He even felt weaker than normal. The Omega boy could simply sum it down to being sick.

The teenage boy in front of him smirk, twirling the sword around as he looked between it and Shanks. "You're supposed to be a pirate?" The boy cackled. "You are nothing but an Omega bitch. Let me guess, that crew passes you around. Just a toy they can play with."

Shanks growled, tightening his hands into fists, letting the haki flood through them. He usually never cared when insults were thrown his way, but some reason, this time it infuriated him. He swung but the pain had twisted in his abdomen as his eyes widened. He could feel the build up of liquid starting to move down his thighs.

The air caught in his throat as he realized what was truly happening to him. It wasn't seasickness like he had originally thought. He was getting his first heat. He stumbled over his feet, as the teenager kicked his foot out, sending Shanks face first into the dirt below.

He groaned as he sat up, raising a hand up to his nose. "Shanks!" He heard Buggy yell, followed by a growl. "Leave him alone!"

"Stop struggling, kid." One of the other teenagers laughed.

Shanks grunted as he felt a foot against his shoulder blades, forcing him back down into the dirt. He hissed as he looked over his shoulder, glaring as he growled, "Get off of me." He forced himself up, twisting to get the foot off of him, bringing his foot out to hit the teenager in the shin.

The teenager fell down to his knees with a yelp of pain, an almost primal growl leaving him as his eyes narrowed in on Shanks. He attempted to shuffle away from the Alpha, using his hands as momentum to attempt to put the distance between them. The teenager reached out, grabbing his ankle, and forcing him onto his back.

"Where do you think you're going?" The Alpha was on his hips, pinning them down to the ground within a few seconds. Hands moved to his shirt, pulling at the fabric as Shanks fought to try and get his hands away. Trying to push the Alpha off of him. The Alpha was cackling as the buttons flew off of his shirt as he managed to rip it open. His hands moving towards his wrists to pin them by his head. No matter how much he struggled against it, trying to move his arms, kick his feet, he was pinned. The Alpha mused, a smirk on his face as he leaned down, almost nose to nose with Shanks. The Omega turned his head, squeezing his eyes shut as he smelt those Alpha pheromones trying to overpower his own. "You're in heat. Didn't your mommy and daddy ever tell you it's not a good idea to leave the safety of your home when you are so vulnerable. You never know what might happen."

"Screw you." Shanks hissed.

The Alpha let go of one of his wrists, reaching down to pull the sash from his waist. Shanks bit down on his lip as the disgust went through him. His body was actually wanting to submit to this. He cracked his eyes open, his gaze landing on Buggy. The blue-haired Alpha was still trying to wrestle his way out of the grips of the two hanging onto him. "Don't you dare!" Buggy shouted.

The teen who had Shanks pinned snickered, "I don't see no mark on him. I can do what I please."

"He's not just some toy you can mess with!" Buggy shouted back.

"Aren't you supposed to be pirates?" The teen questioned. "Don't you steal what you want?"

"Not shit like this, you bastard!"

"You're disgusting." Shanks muttered.

The teen laughed as he moved his hands, pulling his arms above his head and using his sash to tie them into place, keeping one hand on them to keep them against the ground. "And you're a pretty Omega bitch, but who cares." The Alpha hummed as he leaned in, nipping at Shanks' ear. "How does it feel to know your kind is the one who wants to submit for something like this? Nothing more than just a bitch in need of a knot to be satisfied. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say that you didn't know your heat was going to hit. What are you? Twelve? Thirteen? Just ripe for the taking. They used to marry people like you off as soon as the first one hit. I think you would make a fine bride."

Shanks let out only what he could describe as a whimper as he jerked at his arms. His mind was clouded over already. The haze starting to hit as the pheromones reaching his nose were forcing his body to relax. The hand that landed on his stomach. Almost hot to the touch as it slid down, moving towards the waist band of his pants. He jerked his hips, trying to move away from it. "Don't touch me." He could hear the almost feral growl from Buggy as he said for them to let him go again. The laughter that followed from the three teenagers.

"We'll take turns with you. Make that pitiful Alpha watch as we do so." The Alpha teenager murmured, his breath hitting Shanks' ear as he started to grow more uncomfortable by the second. The slick was still moving down his legs, his own scent spiking. "He's getting so angry for you. It's kind of cute. Don't you think?"

Shanks exhaled sharply as he felt the hand dip into the fabric of his pants. "Stop. Don't do this!" He exclaimed, jerking again. The hand only continued to travel. Moving down until his fingers were dancing over his slicked entrance. He let out a whine as he felt the breach that followed, a palm laying flat against him. He jerked his arms again as he shouted, "Stop!"

"You're so pretty when you beg." The Alpha teenager said, almost amused at Shanks' attempts to try and get his hands free. No matter how hard he jerked, it felt almost hopeless. This Alpha was a lot stronger than he looked. "Your name is Shanks? Wasn't it? That's an odd name."

"Shut up." Shanks snapped, his back involuntarily arched as the Alpha moved his hands. His fingers moving and hitting a bundle of nerves inside of him that had a sound unwillingly ripping from his throat.

"Oh, you make pretty sounds too." The Alpha said. "I wonder what else we could get out of you."

"Get the hell off of him!" Buggy barked. His voice sounded sharper. One that sent even a chill down Shanks' spine.

The Alpha ignored him in favor of continuing his ministrations of Shanks. The sound of his hand moving reaching Shanks' ears as his body somehow took pleasure from the way that the Alpha was working him. He could feel the disgust within himself building up. The feeling that he could have done more to keep himself from getting into this position. Maybe if he had told Roger or Crocus that he had felt off that he wouldn't have even been on the island. "Put on a show for your friend, Shanks." The Alpha said. "You're already soaked." The Alpha chuckled as he let go to Shanks' wrists, other hand moving to the other side of Shanks' waist, fingers dipping underneath the band before he was pulling it down. Revealing Shanks to them all. "It's not often that a pretty Omega comes around these parts. Well, one that we can help ourselves too."

The Alpha had moved, placing himself in between Shanks' legs, forcing his legs apart as he tossed his pants off to the side. Shanks squeezed his eyes shut, refusing to open them now. This felt degrading. How he was in the dirt. A virgin and within the start of his first heat, and he had already come face to face with someone who wanted to take advantage of that. He had been told exactly how Omegas could and would be treated on the sea. He never thought this would happen to him.

"SHANKS!" Buggy screamed. There was terror and anger within his voice, but Shanks couldn't bring himself to open his eyes. All the fight that he had felt like it had been zapped out of him. He wasn't even sure if he could will his body to move at this point. His hands hurt from the tightness of the fabric wrapped around them, making his arms feel numb from the loss of circulation.

His mind was in a haze and the touches that were being given to him, his body almost craved more of it. Even though his mind knew this was not what he wanted, his body reacted almost positively to it. He was sure it had to be his heat talking. He tried to ignore the sound of the belt buckle being undone.

This is never how he would have thought this would happen to him.

He always thought that when the time came, he would give himself willingly to someone. Preferably someone that he had feelings for. Not some Alpha he didn't even know, using the fact that he had started his first heat against him.

"I'll show you exactly what Omegas are." The Alpha cackled.

He was expecting the pain to come next. The feel of his innocence being ripped from him.

But it never came.

He could hear the surprised shouts. The fighting. He cracked his eyes opening, his eyes widening as the Alpha was thrown off of him. A shocked cry following as he felt a liquid hit his thigh alongside his own slick. Standing above him, the fury written on his face, was Buggy. His eyes no longer that ocean blue that he was used to seeing, but a deep crimson red that was almost shining as he bared his teeth. Snarling as he jerked his knife out of the teenager's abdomen.

"I said… don't touch him." Buggy growled. The other two that had originally been holding Buggy were also on the ground, groaning as they rolled. The teenager who had assaulted Shanks was now holding onto the wound in his side. Buggy growled as he started back towards the teenager. "I'm going to kill you."

Shanks felt the air catch in his throat at Buggy's change in attitude. This was something he was no used to seeing. Buggy only fought when it came to plundering and treasure. This was a different matter entirely.

The Alpha teenager had done a one eighty. Hands up as pleas started to fall from his mouth. Trying to get Buggy to reconsider as the blue-haired Alpha descended on him. "You don't touch my brother and get away with it. The only one allowed to insult him is me."

Shanks worked at the sash around his hands. Despite the numb feeling in them as he tried to get them free. His eyes were locked to Buggy as his packmate lashed out, his knife plunging into the Alpha again. A part of Shanks wanted to try and stop him, but another part was happy. Happy that his tormentor was facing a punishment almost equal to what he was doing to Shanks.

Buggy growled as he stood back to his full height, eyes glaring daggers at the unmoving Alpha as he reached down and with his free hand had grabbed Shanks' pants. He turned towards the Omega, snarling as he kneeled down and undid the sash. His eyes were still that deep red color. Almost glowing as the growls left him.

With his hands finally free, he rubbed at his sore wrists, the deep red and purple color splashed against his skin. The blood coming up on the skin. Buggy handed his pants over to him, still snarling as he looked over his shoulder to make sure none of the Alphas were moving as Shanks stood up onto shaky legs to slip back into his pants. He hurried to retie his sash, reaching down to grab his discarded sword that had been put down at some point to put it back where it belonged.

"Buggy?" Shanks muttered, reaching out for his nakama. Buggy froze as Shanks' hand landed on his shoulder, his glowing eyes moving to him. "It's okay… you saved me, Buggy." He whispered. He recognized the signs of what was happening to the younger apprentice. He was in the middle of a rage. Judging by the way his eyes were glowing. His nails looking sharper. His teeth pointing more.

Buggy reached out to him, grabbing him by the shoulders and pulling him close as his nose moved over his scent gland. Covering up the scent of the Alpha who had assaulted him. "Next time, you kill the bastard who dares touch you."

X

Buggy had ended up carrying him back to the Oro Jackson. Refusing to let him go. His arms had been thrown over the Alpha's shoulders as he walked with him on his back. His rage had finally ended not long before they were heading back. The Alphas that attacked them never did get back up from what he could tell.

His body still felt weak. The haze over his mind. He was safe. That's what mattered to him. What he did know was he needed to get stronger. So, he never had to face a situation like this again. If Buggy hadn't gone into a rage when he did, Shanks' dignity would have been ripped away from him.

They were immediately surrounded when they got back. Shanks had noticed that Roger, Rayleigh, Gaban, and a few of the others were still unaccounted for. Crocus had rushed forward, pushing through the others as he came next to them. "Let's get you both to the infirmary." He stated, he turned towards the others, motioning towards Spencer, "Go find the Captain and let him know they are back."

"Yes, sir." Spencer stated, starting off the gangplank.

Crocus had turned back to them, his hands moving to usher them towards the cabins. "C'mon, let's go."

Shanks just curled up tighter on Buggy's back as the Alpha started forward, following after Crocus. He only let go when they got into the confines of the infirmary. Buggy placing him down on one of the beds as he turned to sit next to him. "What happened to you two?"

"Just got into a fight was all. My heat had decided it wanted to start." Shanks stated.

Crocus gave him a look, one that looked like he didn't believe a word of what Shanks was saying. "Is that what happened, Buggy?"

Buggy eyed him through the corner of his eye. "Yeah. That's what it was."

Crocus nodded. That same look still on his face as he reached over for his medical bag. He didn't push any further which Shanks was thankful for. He just wanted to forget.

X

It wasn't long after that when they had made another stop that his world seemed to change all over again. The crew was partying in the local bar, all the supplies that they needed were already back to the ship. Now, they just got a moment to do whatever they pleased. Buggy and Shanks had stayed at the bar with them for the most part.

As they were leaving, Shanks was one of the first out, stumbling slightly on his feet. Grinning practically like a mad man as he started for the steps. He only looked back over his shoulder as Roger called out to him, but the movement had caused his sandal to move, maybe his heel fall off of it.

He hadn't to admit that he flailed his arms in an attempt to keep upright before he was falling backwards towards the stairs. Hands moved to his hips, balancing him out before he could fall. His own hands settled on broad shoulders. The Omega paused as he looked up past the brim of his hat, seeing someone he had never seen before standing person him now on the steps. With just a whiff of his pheromones, he caught quickly that this teenager was an Alpha. He looked like he was maybe sixteen. A sword sheathed on is back. Sharp golden eyes locked directly to him. Short, spiky black hair on his head. His scent reminded him of a mixture of an earthy, forest type smell and sangria wine.

"Watch your step." The Alpha stated with an apathetic look on his face. His hands didn't move as Shanks straightened out.

For some reason, Shanks could tear his gaze away. Something about those eyes were drawing him in. Almost like he was frozen. His face flared bright red, the heat in his skin as he mumbled out, "Thank you."

Roger took a step forward, a grin on his face. "You're the one known as Hawkeyes. You are gaining quite the reputation for being a swordsman."

The Alpha got a pride look coming to his face as he looked back at Shanks. Shanks couldn't stop thinking about how warm the Alpha's hand felt against his hips. The coldness within his eyes. He could feel the power of his haki. For some reason, he wanted to know more. His touch didn't feel like the Alpha's from before. This one was almost soft. The Alpha was trying to show that he wasn't a threat to him. Which was odd. Everyone should have their guards up on these seas.

The Alpha took a step back, hands moving from Shanks' waist and instead grabbing his hand. "It's been a pleasure." He stated, leaning down, and kissing the Omega's knuckles. If Shanks' face wasn't red before it definitely was now. The Alpha let his hand go, walking right by him and straight into the bar.

Shanks had watched his movements the entire time until the door closed behind him. Blinking only when Roger clapped him on the back with a chuckle. "Someone is infatuated."

"I am not!" Shanks snapped, his face only burning brighter.

X

That wasn't the last time he had seen the Alpha before they left. Just as they were preparing for their departure, the Alpha walked up to them. Eyes level on Roger. "I challenge you."

Roger chuckled, shaking his head. "You should know just by looking at me that I'm completely out of your league." Roger stated, "However, you would be a good match up for my apprentice."

Shanks absolutely did not wish that he could cut Roger clean in two as Roger turned towards him. The Alpha held his hand out, motioning for Shanks to step forward. "I'll end you." Shanks grumbled, side eyeing his father.

"What was that?" Roger questioned.

"Nothing." Shanks stated as he stepped forward, left hand on the grip of his sword as a smirk came to his face. Roger laughed as he unsheathed his sword.

The Alpha's golden eyes turned back to him, a smirk coming to his face as he took his own sword from its sheath. He didn't say anything, but Shanks could feel the haki that embedded into his sword a second later.

Shanks let his own grin get bigger as he sent his haki through his own blade. He lounged forward, their blades clashing together. For a moment, not even connecting as their haki tried to fight was dominance. The wind picking up between them as it swirled. His bangs blowing into his eyes before they were both jumping back from the force.

A smirk had come to the Alpha's face as they struck again. "You are a formidable opponent." He stated.

"I'm a lot stronger than I look." Shanks replied, his own smirk on his face. It felt like an adrenaline rush going through him. He couldn't even actually understand why he wanted more of it.

They continued, each time ending in a stalemate as they tried to overpower each other and had failed to do so. Shanks felt like he could go for hours. A grin on his face. The power of their haki clashing. He had never wanted something like this. Despite those eyes being cold and calculating, he found himself staring into them. Getting lost within their unique color.

He wasn't even sure how long they fought for before they were both standing away from each other. Grins on their faces as they heaved, breathing heavily as they tried to catch their breath. The Alpha returned his sword back to its sheath, standing with a straight back and crossing his arms. "What's your name, Red-Hair?"

Shanks smiled as he placed his sword back onto his hip, readjusting his hat. "Shanks."

"Shanks… I'll remember it." The Alpha stated. "I haven't had a fight like that in a long time. No matter the age or strength of my opponent."

Shanks shook his head. Roger had told him who this Alpha was. A teenager known as Hawkeyes who had been traveling the Grand Line challenging those stronger than him and winning. It didn't surprise him that the Alpha came to challenge Roger.

"You know my name, but I don't know yours."

"Dracule Mihawk."

Roger grinned walking forward and placing his hand onto the Omega's shoulder. "Strength and power takes time. Don't try and rush it if you can help it." Roger stated. "Gaging your power against Shanks here, I have no doubt you'll be one of the strongest if not the strongest on this sea."

"That's my goal." Mihawk replied.

"Why don't you join us for a party, young man." It wasn't even a question, rather a statement.

Mihawk eyed him for a moment before he nodded.

X

Instead of departing like they originally planned, they stayed on the shoreline and had a party. The campfires being made, food being passed out. Mihawk had become the center of attention along them. Roger excitedly asking him questions about his adventures and fights. Despite the attitude that Shanks picked up from him, he indulged Roger on his questions.

Shanks had found himself sitting directly next to him the entire time. He was practically entranced listening to the sound of Mihawk's voice. He couldn't tear his attention away even if he wanted too.

"How old are you, Hawkeyes?" Rayleigh questioned.

"Sixteen." Mihawk confirmed.

Roger laughed, hand landing on Mihawk's shoulder. "You are quite impressive, young man." Roger stated. "Everything you have accomplished, and you are only sixteen. You've got guts and power."

"You need them on these seas." Mihawk stated, looking down at the glass of wine in his hand. "I seek to be the strongest that this world has ever seen. I won't stop until I get there."

Shanks smiled, leaning his chin onto his palm. He laughed slightly as the Alpha turned his attention to him. "I can believe it."

"It will never be an if I can, it's just when." Mihawk replied.

"I can't wait to see the day." Shanks said, smiling as he tilted his head, "Just… come duel me again someday."

"Absolutely."

X

It wasn't long after they left that island that it felt like everything started to go downhill again. They had raided another enemy ship, finding a Devil Fruit among the treasure. What he never expected was for Buggy to steal it and hide it within his mouth causing him to inadvertently to make the Alpha eat it.

When they were finally pulled back over the rail completely soaked and drenched, he didn't expect Buggy to grab him by the front of the shirt, face red as he screamed, "You bastard! I hate you! You're no brother of mine!"

Those words struck a chord in him. He didn't even understand why it hurt so much. They had fought before, but something about the venom within those words had him actually believing what Buggy was saying.

The Alpha had just shoved him away, grumbling as he turned on his heel and started off. Shanks could only watch his back the entire time. His heart breaking with each step that Buggy took.

X

They did fall back into something similar to what they were before, but it never did feel the same as it was before. They still fought together. Bickered. Smiled and joked around. But there was a reigning resentment that he could feel coming from Buggy. It was like the Alpha was merely putting on a mask around him. They were the only two close in age. The only two on the ship that truly understood the other.

Shanks missed the way that it used to be. Even if it wasn't completely his fault with the Bara Bara no Mi, it still hurt knowing that his sworn brother was now rejecting him.

He wasn't sure where it would go from there.

X

The next time he saw his mother, they had ran into the samurai from Wano that had been all over the papers. A man that was incredibly reckless. He was powerful. That was one thing that Shanks noticed right off the bat. The encounter turned into a fight that took the course of three days and three nights to play out before it was finally ended in a cease fire. The two crews instead doing a gift exchange instead of trying to plunder each other.

He stood back-to-back with Buggy; arms crossed over his chest as he kept his guard up. They might be in a cease fire, but after what happened to him, he refused to ever let his guard down again. Not even if he felt completely safe.

"Hey, Shanks." Buggy said, bringing the Omega's attention over to him.

"What?" Shanks muttered, turning enough so he could actually face Buggy this time.

"You see the guy with the hat over there?" Buggy questioned. He let his gaze move over to the one that Buggy was referring to. By his scent, Shanks was able to deduct that he was an Alpha. He had been one of the ones that they had stayed on. Being instructed to stick with the apprentices rather than face off against the upper ranked members of the Whitebeard crew.

"Yeah." Shanks replied.

"I heard he didn't sleep yesterday or the day before during the ceasefire at night." Buggy stated.

Shanks tilted his head. That was odd. Sure, Shanks was exhausted, having barely slept at all during the last few days. It wasn't completely something someone wouldn't do. Purposely not sleeping was stupid though. It would leave a person exhausted and prone to attacks. "Why? He wanted to show off?!"

"No!" Buggy exclaimed. "They say he's never slept even once since he was born!"

Shanks felt the shock fill him as his eyes widened, turning to face the Alpha standing next to him. "What? Is there such a person?" He questioned, pausing at the thought. If someone never slept, they got more time to enjoy the world. That was something Shanks wished he could do. A small smile slipped on his face as he muttered, "That's great. I wonder if he enjoys life twice as much as us?"

"Idiot!" Buggy exclaimed, turning to send a glare over to the person they were talking about. "It's not that simple. He must be a monster!"

"A monster?" Shanks snorted. "You're overexaggerating again, Buggy."

Buggy made a humph type noise as he crossed his arms. "You'll see one day."

He let his eyes move back over to the Alpha. His eyes were narrowed in on Buggy for the moment, but there was an unknown glint in his eye as he looked back to Shanks. It had sent chills right down his spine looking at it. It was a glint similar to what the one Alpha had within his eyes all those months ago.

He turned his gaze away from the Alpha, looking up to where his parents were. Pausing completely as he noticed his father bowed before Whitebeard, the samurai he learned was named Oden, and his mother. His eyes widened as Gaban told Roger to stand back up. Whitebeard had punched the air, the aftereffect coming his way.

They managed to stay standing in their places but finally it appeared that whatever conversation was happening had ended with Roger getting a large grin on his face.

X

They were set to depart soon, bringing Oden and his family with them. Shanks was hidden within the trees, speaking with his mother. A smile on his face as he leaned his head against her shoulder. It had been four years since they had last seen each other. It had been so long. His mother had definitely gotten stronger since then.

Her arms were wrapped around him, fingers moving softly throughout his hair. "My sweet boy… how much I've missed you." She whispered.

"I missed you too, Mom." He replied, his own arms tightening around her.

"You've gotten so big and strong." Rouge muttered. "It feels like just yesterday that you were just a small little boy. Now look at you, you are becoming a beautiful young man."

His face flushed over red, but the smile lingered on his face anyway as he curled up closer to her side. Her scent filling his nose. This would be the last time they saw each other until Roger had finally made it to the final island. This journey would going to be… their last. He just knew it.

His mother had given up so much for him to be with his father. Giving up precious time that they could have had together in exchange for Shanks to spend it with his father. Shanks couldn't be happier for the time that he got with Roger. This would be their final journey before it would all come to an end.

"You just take care of yourself, Shanks." Rouge stated, placing a kiss to his forehead.

"I will, Mom. I promise."

X

Over the course of the next couple of months, they had sailed throughout the Grand Line returning back to the previous Poneglyphs. They had gone through Skypeia, Water Seven, Fishman Island, Wano, and Zou.

With Oden with them, they were able to decipher that the Red Poneglyphs were the ones that had the map to the final island. With all of them decoded by Oden, they were heading off to the final island. At least that was until the moment that Buggy had fallen ill. Shanks had chosen to stay behind on an island not far from where they were. Instead choosing to care for his friend. It didn't matter to him that this could be a one in a lifetime journey.

What mattered to him was making sure that Buggy was okay.

He waved off the rest of the Roger Pirates as they departed from the island, setting sail for the final island. This would be the end of it all for them. Still, it didn't feel right ending it without Buggy by his side. They had been through this together since pretty much the beginning of Shanks' pirate journey. He wouldn't end it without him.

With his crew out of sight, he went back to the inn they were set up in.

X

That's where he stayed until the newspapers came out that Roger in fact made it to the last island. The world calling him the King of the Pirates. Roger's lifelong dream had finally been fulfilled. The entire time, Shanks kept a smile on his face as he showed the paper to Buggy. Their Captain had done it. Even if they weren't the end of the journey, their crew had accomplished it all. He couldn't wait to hear all about when Roger finally got back.

When he finally did return for them, he had been at a local market when he had spotted the Oro Jackson getting closer. He had immediately rushed off to notify Buggy of Roger's return before they were sprinting at full speed towards the docks.

When Roger finally docked, as the crew spoke together, telling them of what they had seen, Shanks had taken the moment to ask a question to his father. Upon receiving his answer, he had broken out into tears and ran forward, gripping onto his jacket.

This was the end of it all.

X

Roger had disbanded the crew quietly not long after that moment. Shanks had to hold back his tears knowing that this was only one step closer to his father's inevitable death. What he had planned to do next.

Roger had decided to disembark first, taking Shanks with him as they departed. Rouge had found them not far from where they had left the Oro Jackson. He only had a smile on his face as his father and mother got married in complete secrecy.

They had spent as much time as they could together before their final farewell. Shanks had inhaled his father's scent one last time, wrapped in each other's arms before Roger pulled away. Rouge's arm wrapped around him as Roger walked away for the last time. This was it.

Shanks had cried more than he ever had within his life that night. Knowing that was the last time that he would ever get to speak to his father. Get to smell his scent. Be within his arms. This was the end of it all. His life was changing forever.

It would never be the same.

X

Roger's execution had been set for Loguetown. The place of his birth. Shanks had traveled there alongside Rouge. Rumors had quickly spread that Roger had potentially sired a child, but they were looking for a preborn or newborn child on Baterilla in the South Blue. The same place that Roger had bought a home for them in the case if they ever needed it.

He had stood with his mother and Buggy as Roger was led to the scaffold, watching as his father climbed it. Roger had turned and sat down, keeping his eyes locked to them the entire time.

Shanks' eyes were full of tears. He never wanted to see this moment, but this is what Roger wanted to do. This is how he wanted to end it. It would be something that he would have to deal with.

He had listened to his final words. The smile that was on his face as his life ended.

In the end, his death had sparked the beginning of a new era.

X

In the aftermath of his father's death, he had bid farewell to his mother. Waving her off as she returned back to the Whitebeard Pirates. He had decided to stay in Loguetown for the time being. He was going to get a ship and start his own journey now. He needed to stand on his own two feet.

He had found himself at the Gold Roger Bar, a glass of sake in hand that he threw back without a second thought. He wasn't even sure how much he had at this point. He just knew that he wanted to get as drunk as possible.

He frowned as someone slipped into the chair next to his, his blurry vision fixating on the person. He couldn't even see straight to be able to tell who it was. His head had practically fallen off of his wrist as he tried to look at them. Just that their pheromones were radiating and overpowering. The hairs standing on the back of his neck screaming at him to get away.

A hand reached out to touch his face, fingers grazing over his jaw that had him moving away. "Stop." He hissed. "Leave me alone."

"Why don't we get out of here?" The man said.

Shanks growled as he threw back the rest of his drink. "No, thank you."

He glared as a hand wrapped around his wrist. He snarled as his head snapped back to look at the man. He couldn't even tell what dynamic he was from how much his mind was swimming. "You aren't really getting a choice in the matter."

"I said… let me go." He hissed, pulling his wrist back towards him. His arm was jerked forward, knocking him off balance.

He didn't have to do anything as the man's face was slammed into the bar. Shanks blinked as his wrist was let go and a voice growled, "Get gone."

Through the fog he picked up that forest sangria scent that he had come to know belonging to Mihawk. They had dueled many times over the last few years, including during the last bit of time that Shanks had with Roger. He hadn't even know Mihawk was in attendance for Roger's execution until now.

"You just want the pretty Omega for yourself."

The man grumbled as Mihawk all but shoved him away. The Swordsman reached over, pulling Shanks flush to his chest as he glared at the man again. "He said to leave him alone. Get lost before I cut you down."

Shanks had to keep a grip on Mihawk's jacket to keep himself from falling over. His face flushed over from the intoxication. An arm wrapped over his shoulders as he was pulled away from the bar and towards the door. He stumbled over his feet, letting his head settle against the strong shoulder.

When they were out of the bar, Mihawk had guided him away without a second thought. His scent lingering into Shanks' nose. Comforting and soothing. "Thank you." Shanks muttered. He had been so drunk that he was sure that he wouldn't be able to fully fight back. Just that one movement alone had him off of his seat before.

He wanted to mentally slap himself. He had let his guard down again.

"That was stupid. Getting drunk alone like that."

Shanks shrugged. "I guess I just wanted to forget that today happened."

"Today will never be forgotten."

Mihawk was completely correct. Today would never be forgotten.

X

Mihawk had taken him back to the inn. Shanks didn't have a room himself, but Mihawk already had one. The Alpha had helped him slip out of his shoes, even placing him onto the bed and setting his hat on the bedside table. The bed had dipped down on the other side from Mihawk's weight as Shanks curled on his side. The Omega pulling the blanket up to his nose. He had no more tears left to cry at this point.

He wasn't even sure what compelled him, but he had shuffled over, placing his head onto Mihawk's chest. Sighing in content as that scent came back to his nose. Letting his eyes slip shut. The alcohol was already starting to wear off. He could finally somewhat see straight now.

Mihawk didn't try to move him away, so he took it as a good sign for the moment. Instead, a hand landed on his head, fingering carding through his hair, soothing patterns being traced into his scalp.

"Just rest, Red-Hair."

It was the last thing he heard before the exhaustion finally caught up to him.

X

When he had woken back up, Mihawk was already awake. If he had even fallen asleep. Shanks groaned as his head pounded, sitting up on the bed and clutching at his head. The Alpha had tapped him on the shoulder, handing him a few pills and a glass of water. He didn't think twice before he had thrown them back and drank down the water.

He placed the glass on the side table, leaning back against the pillow as he looked up to the ceiling. He couldn't hardly remember anything that happened the day before. He remembered his father's death. Buggy declining his offer to form a crew together. Rouge departing from Loguetown. After that it was pretty much a blank. He could barely recall actually being brought back to the inn. He was still wearing pants, so that was a good thing.

Still, he felt completely alone.

The Omega sighed as he turned his head, looking over to Mihawk who was already reinvested in a book in his lap. "Thank you, Hawkeyes."

"Don't worry about it." Mihawk replied almost instantly. "You reek of booze."

Shanks snorted. As blunt as ever.

"So charming." He muttered.

Mihawk hummed. "There's a shower through that door. Use it. I don't want my bed smelling anymore of alcohol than it has too."

Shanks shrugged. "Do I have too?"

"Yes."

The Omega sighed again, turning onto his stomach, and burying his nose into the pillows. "Comfy."

Mihawk's book slammed shut before the bed was moving. Shanks blinked as an arm wrapped around his waist and was pulling him up. Hands moved to his wrists, forcing his body up. He paused as his nose bumped into Mihawk's chest, looking up to see the Swordsman casting a look at him. "Shower then you can go back to sleep."

"I don't wanna." Shanks said, a smirk coming to his face.

Mihawk hummed. "Fine." He said.

The Omega gasped as he was lifted off of the ground, thrown over Mihawk's shoulder before the Alpha was starting towards the bathroom. "This isn't fair." Shanks stated.

"Deal with it." Mihawk replied as he sat Shanks back down on his feet as soon as they were in the bathroom. The Alpha motioned towards the shower. "Take one."

Shanks smiled, shaking his head. "I don't have clothes." He actually couldn't remember if he had grabbed his bag back in the bar or not or if Mihawk had.

"Just take a shower." Mihawk said as he turned and walked out of the bathroom, closing the door behind him. Shanks laughed, pulling his shirt over his head, and discarding it into the corner before the rest of his clothes followed.

He stretched, letting his sore muscles have much needed movement before he was reaching over and turning on the water, setting it to the temperature that he preferred before he was stepping in. There was already soaps there. Which he would guess were Mihawk's. He picked one of them up, looking at it as the spray went over his head.

Opening it up, he sniffled it and it did smell just like the shampoo that Mihawk normally smelt like. The flush came to his face at the thought of using it, having his own hair smell just like the Alpha's.

He pushed the thought aside in exchange of sitting down and letting the spray drench over his body. Working against his sore body. All the thoughts of the day before had returned, bringing tears to his eyes once more as he curled his legs to his body.

He didn't want to be alone.

Part of him wondered if he should have taken his mother's offer.

He sighed, as he reached out for the soap again, bringing enough into his hand to lather up his hair with. Letting the soap move down his body.

His life would never be the same from this moment on. He knew it.

When he deemed himself clean enough, he shut off the water and stood back up, reaching for a nearby towel and quickly drying off his hair and most of his body, wrapping the towel around him and holding it at his chest with his hand curled in the front of him. He wasn't sure what to do now. His clothes smelt of booze and Mihawk had clearly said he didn't want the booze smell. Which was fine, Shanks could clean his clothes, but that would leave him completely naked the entire time.

He sighed as he stepped out of the bathroom, Mihawk was facing away from him, but had reached down for a long-sleeved black button up and had reached out towards him. Shanks eyed it for a second before he took it, taking the moment to slip it on, letting the towel fall. The Alpha kept his back turned until the second Shanks had told him that he was now somewhat dressed.

The Omega felt awkward as he stood there. Mihawk's shirt went to his midthigh, at least keeping him covered for the most part. Mihawk motioned to the floor where his bag was. "It got covered in sake when that bastard made his move on you. Everything is covered."

Shanks sighed as he turned, sitting down on the bed. Well, at least his bag was here. "I'll deal with later." He mumbled, leaning back onto the bed. "For now, I just want to pretend the world doesn't exist. The bed dipped down again next to him as Mihawk sat down, leaning his arms against his knees. "Your Captain meant a lot to you."

"Of course, he did. He was my Captain."

Mihawk hummed. "You were with him even though your nakama weren't around."

Shanks turned his head, looking at the Alpha for a moment. "Yeah…" He whispered.

"He was more than your Captain. Wasn't he?" Mihawk questioned.

Shanks smiled. Of course, the man known as Hawkeyes would notice that there was something more. "Hawkeyes… he was my father."

Mihawk looked over his shoulder, not looking the least bit surprised. "I figured as much. The way he spoke about you was more than a Captain and an apprentice."

Shanks smiled, turning on his side and propping his head onto his arm. "He treated me just like everyone else on the ship." Shanks said, "But there were these moments where it was just us as father and son." He paused, sighing, "I shouldn't be telling you this. Not after what happened on Baterilla."

"It would put a target on your back." Shanks nodded. "I know. That secret is safe with me."

For some reason, Shanks trusted him.

X

He had stayed in Loguetown for almost a month with Mihawk. They had shared a room the entire time as Shanks was waiting for a ship to be built for him. It was almost complete, then his journey would begin. He would become his own Captain of his own crew. He could almost feel the excitement in his veins.

He let the laugh escape him as he pulled Mihawk back towards the room. He could feel the heat underneath his skin again. The twist of his stomach, but he couldn't bring himself to care. Something about being near Mihawk gave him almost a sense of relief. He paused as they got back within the confines of the inn, eyes lingering on Mihawk as the door shut behind him. Hearing Mihawk's laugh leaving him as they stumbled together. This was a side of Mihawk that he didn't normally get to see when it was just simple duels together.

Mihawk was looking back down at him. Shanks' back against the door as the Alpha leaned his arms against it. Leaning in slightly just enough that the Omega could feel his breath against his lips. Shanks smiled, leaning in the rest of the way to connect their lips together.

It felt completely right.

He had felt the slick on his thighs already, telling him immediately that his heat had kickstarted completely. He smiled into it as Mihawk's arms wrapped around his waist, hands moving to the curve of his ass to pull him up. The Omega didn't think twice before he was wrapping his legs around the Alpha's waist. Mihawk's hands settling underneath his thighs to keep him balanced as their lips fought for dominance. In the end, Shanks allowed Mihawk to take the lead. His arms wrapped around the Alpha's shoulders, hands moving to curl into whisps of black hair.

The growl that followed from Mihawk as he turned, walking over until Shanks' back was falling onto the bed. He let his legs move from the Alpha's waist as Mihawk's hands moved under his shirt, pushing it up. They only broke apart long enough for Mihawk to pull Shanks' shirt over his head and toss it over his shoulder. Discarding it somewhere within the room. The Omega's hands moved to the buttons of Mihawk's shirt, undoing them as quickly as possible before he was shoving the fabric away from his shoulders. That article of clothing was thrown away next as Mihawk leaned back in, capturing his lips again.

For the first time, Shanks completely wanted an Alpha's touch. Mihawk's touch. The way that it left trails of fire against his skin. The goosebumps that rose from it.

His sash was taken next, being pulled away from his hips and thrown off to the side. Mihawk pulled away, blown irises looking down at him. Shanks almost couldn't see the golden color anymore from how dark they were. "Are you sure you want to do this?"

Shanks nodded. "Absolutely." He whispered, moving his hand to let his fingers trace over the curve of Mihawk's lips.

The Alpha smiled, leaning in, and placing another kiss to his lips before his lips were moving, pressing chaste kisses down the curve of his neck. His nose grazing over his scent and bond glands that had Shanks mewling, turning his head to the side to reveal them to him. Mihawk nipped at the skin, not piercing it to allow for the formation of a bond but enough that it sent a shiver down the Omega's spine.

The Alpha's hands had moved, pulling at the waistband of his pants, and moving the fabric away from his body. Shanks moved his legs enough that Mihawk could finish pulling the fabric from him. Tossing them away next. The Omega gasped as he felt the gentle touch to the inner part of his thigh, fingertips ghosting over tanned skin and moving towards the folds of his entrance.

Unlike what happened to him before, Mihawk was careful with his movements. Placing gentle kisses across his skin as his fingers twirled around the folds, sending sparks up the Omega's spine before he was pushing them in. Shanks threw his head back, hand curling tighter into Mihawk's hair. This felt entirely different compared to before. Maybe it was because it was Mihawk. The way that he moved his hand to pull pleasure from him instead of wanting to just take. Fingers curling and hitting the nerves within him that had stars dancing in his eyes.

"Mihawk, please." He whined.

He felt the smirk against his skin as the Alpha pulled away. He allowed his eyes to linger on Mihawk as he stripped himself of the rest of his clothes, moving back onto the bed. Pushing his legs apart, hooking one over his arm. He bit down on his lip again as the Alpha lined up at his entrance, pushing in with a slight thrust of his hips.

The Omega moaned out, letting his head fall back against the pillows from the stretch that followed. The pleasure moving out through him. Mihawk's hands had moved up his sides, one moving to his back before it was curling into his hair. Moving his head enough to connect their lips again as Mihawk bottomed out with him with a gentle rock.

They stayed like that just for a moment. Shanks basked in the feel of it. The way that his body wanted Mihawk even more by the second. The cloud coming over his mind as his heat started to settle even more within his veins, begging for more. He moved his legs, wrapping them back around the Alpha's waist, digging his heels into his lower back. Trying to usher him silently into moving.

The Alpha had taken the hint, moving his hips back before they were snapping again. "Fuck." Shanks moaned out, the sound that left his throat being one that he had never made before as Mihawk had set a pace. One that was fast enough that it was rocking his body against the mattress. The Omega moved his hands from Mihawk's hair, his nails moving to his back to scratch along the surface as Mihawk's hips snapped against him. The feel of the Alpha's cock gliding within the natural slick of his body. Hitting the special spot within him with each thrust against his body.

The sound of their skin slapping together filled his ears. The feel of his own slick coating the inner part of his thighs. He could feel Mihawk's knot catching against his rim, trying to lock the two of them together. The Omega pressed a soft kiss into Mihawk's scent gland, inhaling the scent as he did. The scent doing more to cloud his mind. Going straight to his own cock that had been left neglected between their stomachs. Mihawk's movements causing the only friction to it. The Alpha had reached between them, a hand settling on the folds of his entrance, pulling them apart to add even more stimulation to his body that had his toes curling as he rubbed his fingers over them.

Mihawk was grunting in his ear. His own moans escaping him as Mihawk bite down softly onto his shoulder blade. Shanks felt the twist of his stomach as his high was already approaching. Coming way to soon in his mind. All he wanted was for Mihawk to continue giving him pleasure. For once, letting his body take complete control. Mihawk's hand had moved from his entrance, slick covered fingers wrapping around his cock and pumping at the same time as his ruts against the Omega.

Shanks moaned out, an almost broken cry ripping from his throat as his climax hit, hot sputters of his own come hitting his stomach and Mihawk's hand. "Shanks." Mihawk moaned out as the Omega felt his walls tighten around the Alpha before the knot caught, locking them into place as he felt the pulsation followed. The hot liquid following as Mihawk's climax ran through the Alpha.

The Alpha turned his head, capturing his lips again as he rocked his hips to ride out both of their highs. Shanks smiled into it, hands moving to either side of Mihawk's face.

This was absolutely perfect.

X

Finally, his ship was finished and prepared for his departure. He stood at the shoreline, facing Mihawk. He grinned as he adjusted his hat on his head. The Alpha was preparing to return back to the Grand Line himself. Shanks had figured he would stay in the East Blue for a little bit, gather up some nakama before heading back into the Grand Line.

He pulled a piece of his vivre card from his pocket, holding it out with a smile on his face. "If you ever want to find me." Shanks said.

Mihawk smiled, stepping forward and connecting their lips as he took the vivre card from his hands. Their fingers slotting together for a moment before he was pulling away. "I don't need it to find you."

Shanks smiled as the Alpha pulled away. Mihawk didn't say another word as he reached out, his knuckle moving over his cheek for a second before he was tucking a strand of red hair behind the Omega's ear. Mihawk did give him a slight smile as he stepped away, walking off towards where his own boat would be. Shanks just smiled as he watched him walk away. He stood there until he couldn't see him anymore before he was looking back to his new ship with a smile at his face.

This was his new beginning.
