I apologize in advance for Scott. It's hard to read, I know. I hope I got everything right.
Derek was in his bedroom from the original Hale House. Everything was exactly as it was the day of the fire. This immediately put him on edge.
Something appearing as his mother walked in. Derek growled, "where am I, who are you, and what did you do to me?"
His mother replied, "relax Derek. You are in a place where I could reach you. I'm really your mother. Danny did something… unexpected by anyone on either side. I'm here to smooth over the transition."
Derek relaxed slightly. "Let's say I trust you. What transition are you preparing me for?"
His mother said calmly, "Every member of your pack is going to react to being bound to the Wolf God differently. These changes are going to be good, I promise. Those of us on the other side are…directing the changes, as it were. We didn't have much time, but we figured it out."
Derek asked, finally believing his mother, "what changes are in store for me?"
His mother responded, "You were tricky. Everyone else is going to have more of a choice to make, save one. But you are simply a werewolf, always have been. But we could tweak things here and there. How would you feel about literally being a part of the land itself?"
Derek cocked his eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
His mother responded, "The Nemeton is a living wellspring of energy that the Hale pack has protected for generations, semi consciously. The borders of its reach more or less match what we consider to be Hale land. I'm offering a connection to that. It would function more or less as a member of the pack, allowing you to be more alert for threats. It would also allow any casters in your pack, emissaries and the like, to draw power more easily."
Derek queried, "and if I refuse?"
His mother said, "you, more than anyone else, need to be grounded after being bound to Fenris. Your wolf would eventually overtake you. You will be filtering energy into the Nemeton as much as drawing it out."
Derek asked, "if I had a large enough pack, surely I could handle it?"
His mother said, "that is your other option. But you would need a pack of at least 1000."
Derek said, "that's 10 times larger than the biggest pack I've ever heard of."
His mother nodded, "Closer to 8 times larger than the largest pack ever, but accurate. It would be nearly impossible to maintain a single pack of that size."
Derek said, "You did say I had the least choice out of anyone. I'm guessing saying no means I get driven mad until I try to turn enough people to stabilize."
His mother nodded. Derek said, "I guess I'll take becoming part of the land for 300. Is my pack big enough to handle the power as is?"
His mother stuck her head out the bedroom and shouted down the hall. Derek didn't hear a response but she pulled her head back in. "You have enough for the short term. I suggest adding a few wolves or Gammas sooner or later. But you have enough young couples that children are an eventuality. Choosing an emissary soon is necessary though. You should know the ritual involved."
Derek thought for a moment. "I think I do. If not, I can find the book." His mother nodded.
She said, "It was wonderful to see you again. Know that I am always watching."
Derek smiled sadly. He stood up and hugged his mother. Then the room faded away.
Allison was standing in a forest in France. She didn't know how she knew she was in France, but was certain she was.
A man came out from behind a tree. He said, in accented English, "hello, I am Henri Argent. Welcome to the spot where our family became Hunters."
Allison nodded. This felt oddly true. "I am Allison Argent. Can you explain why I am here?"
Henri said, "Your friend Daniel cast a spell and bonded your pack to Fenris. It led to some disturbances. I'm here to give you a choice. But first some background."
Allison nodded, "I understand the need for a little background."
Henri said, "Let me first say, overcoming prejudice and joining a pack was magnifique. I was friends with werewolves in my lifetime which is why we have the family motto. The family drifted a long way from my intentions."
Allison blushed at the praise. "Thank you."
Henri said, "Now to business. You know when a beta kills an alpha, the beta becomes an alpha." Allison nodded. "This transfer of power is common and understood. Now, when a hunter kills an alpha, the power goes to the highest ranking beta. But first it flows to its victor. And in that moment, the hunter gets just a sliver of the power. An alpha can gain power by killing a beta. So to does a hunter. And this doesn't just go for werewolves, it goes for every magical creature. And this power is passed from hunter to child, and again when a hunter dies."
Allison asked, "So the Argents are a magical creature?"
Henri said, "Almost, after hundreds of years of hunters marrying hunters. That's where you come in. Being bonded to Fenris, you just got a huge upgrade in potential power. And that's not even considering the fact you were already a gamma wolf. Another hundred years or so normally, the Argents would become a weak magical creature. Right now, I'm offering you a chance to jump ahead."
Allison asked, "What does that look like exactly?"
Henri said, "the Argent clan didn't have much time to put this together, mind you, so bare that in mind. Increased agility, sharpshooting, enhanced strength, some speed, and to top it off, a bit of spell casting. Mind you, you only have the physical abilities matching, say, a weak omega, and the spell casting of a weak mage. You are the first generation of a new species. But combined with your gamma status and… well I don't want to spoil anything, you will be better off than what we are giving you."
Allison asked, "and my children, if I choose to stay with Scott?"
Henri said, "The Argents got power by incorporating others. Your children would be a hybrid with all of the powers of both if they are to be a werewolf. You may have Hunter children as well. We just have one request."
Allison asked, "what is it?"
Henri said, "Have the children be Argents."
Allison nodded. Scott hated his last name, as it was his father's. Henri said, "It was an honor to meet you. You have done your family proud." Everything faded away.
Lydia awoke in a circle of mushrooms. A tall woman with similar features to Lydia's and the same flaming red hair stood in front of her.
The woman said, "Hello Lydia. I am the Lone Maiden. I am a Banshee, and my blood runs through you. Your friend's reckless act activated the potential, so I am here to explain the positives and negatives."
Lydia said, "Letting Stiles do magic was a bad idea."
The lone maiden laughed and said, "Banshees are fae creatures of air and darkness. But we stand apart from most fae's trickery, as we are bound to death. A reality that makes us not exactly popular among true mortals."
Lydia said, "Give me powers, please. I like my information organized."
The lone maiden said, "a scream of shock and despair, the ability to turn into one animal, a knowledge of when something supernatural dies or dies of supernatural causes, a gift for magic, healing, and naturally immortality."
Lydia asked, "and the cons, please?"
The lone maiden said, "Iron will burn, your word will bind, spellcasters can do things to you as a fae, immortality, and of course, you would have to give up your lycanthropy."
Lydia chuckled, "I like how you listed immortality twice. Now, clarifying questions. Giving up lycanthropy doesn't mean giving up the pack, right?"
The lone maiden said, "that is an implicit bond freely given and freely broken. That is not within my power to interrupt."
Lydia asked, wheels turning, "Do I choose what animal form I take?"
The lone maiden answered, "it can be anything, though the form is always black, so keep that in mind."
Lydia said, "if I chose a wolf, it would be easy to mistake me for a werewolf though."
The lone maiden laughed. "Now that's fae trickery. Yes, that could definitely work."
Lydia asked, "Anything else."
The lone maiden said, "it would behoove you to become a member of a fae court eventually. Most banshees choose the Unseelie court, but that's your choice. And though the Seelie and Unseelie courts are the largest, there are numerous smaller wild courts. Being bound to a god will substantially increase your attractiveness, so you may be courted to join many of them. A minor court could become a medium power with you, a medium power could rival the main two, and joining a large power could substantially shift the balance. I will use my influence to limit this, at least for a decade."
Lydia said, "I humbly accept the power being gifted to me."
The lone maiden nodded and everything faded away.
Scott was in his Abuela's Kitchen, in a chair. This was strange, she was dead and this house had been sold. His Abuela walked in, looking healthier than he had ever seen her.
Scott said, "I owe Stiles $20."
His Abuela smiled. "I've been watching all the troubles you have been up to. Now you and your manada have done el imposible and bound yourself to un dio lobo. That comes with drawing out el encanto in each of you."
Scott asked, "What power lies in me?"
His Abuela stated simply, "You always inspired people to be mejor. You are un lídor."
Scott asked, afraid of the answer, "and what does being a leader mean?"
His Abuela smiled. "La energía roja. As werewolves call it, 'un Alfa de Natural.'"
Scott exclaimed, "I don't want to be an Alpha! Derek is a great alpha! I don't want to have to split off!"
His Abuela said, "No gritando adentro."
Scott mumbled, "Sorry, Abuela."
His Abuela said, "La manada es una familia. That means you can choose to stay or leave. Just because you can leave to start your own pack doesn't mean you have to. It's tu elección."
Scott said, "So we can both be alphas of the same pack?"
His Abuela said, "Sí. His claim to el territorio es más fuerte, so he will be en cargo."
Scott said, "I'm not ready to be the complete leader yet either way."
His Abuela said, "And that's why estas lista to be un lídor."
Scott asked, "because I am unsure that I am ready, I am ready? That's confusing."
His Abuela said, "envíale a tu mamá mi amor." Scott got up and hugged his grandma. The kitchen faded away.
Isaac was in an Army barracks. Camden walked through the door. Isaac rushed to hug him. Camden returned the hug. When Isaac released his grip, he asked, "Am I dead?"
Camden chuckled, "No, quite literally the opposite. Your idiot friend decided to bind the god of wolves to a werewolf pack, overwhelming y'all with life. Your…relatives reached out to control the changes."
"Y'all? You aren't some southerner," Isaac mocked, happy to see his brother.
Camden said, "Southerners make up a majority of the Army. I picked up some of the dialect. Now to business. Everyone else in your pack is being connected to what mystical nonsense runs in their blood. Congrats on getting away from Dad, by the way. Werewolves weren't how I was expecting, but I'll definitely take it. We, however, are actually a human family. Nothing special runs in us."
Isaac said, "Dad always said I wasn't special. Guess he wasn't either."
Camden laughed. "That brings us to how to direct the extra power. I didn't have long, but I got you extra options than everyone else. They all basically got yes/no kinds of deals." Isaac looked quite frankly terrified of making a choice.
Camden said, "don't worry, we can walk through them together. First you, and only you, have a connection to the spirit world that is unusual in a non mage. You could feel Fenris before the others and could track him. A niche ability, and has overlap in between what some of your friends are being offered."
Isaac said, "I want to be uniquely helpful to the pack. Overlap doesn't seem the best option."
Camden nodded. "Second, because of how you processed the trauma of our childhood, you have a different connection to the wolf. We could deepen that, allowing you to communicate with canines, increase your sensory sensitivity, and overall make you more wolf."
Isaac said, "that has promise. Any other options?"
Camden said, "one more. You could carry another person's soul within you. Have their skills, their knowledge, and some of their personality traits with you. This would have some niche side effects."
Isaac asked, "Whose soul?"
Camden said, "Mine. I didn't live long, so it won't be so overwhelming. And this way I could always be with you in a way that mattered."
Isaac said, tears in his eyes, "I always looked up to you. I would like nothing more than everything you are to be a part of me."
Camden asked, "That's your final answer? Don't feel pressured to pick me."
Isaac said, "It's the easiest choice I've ever made."
Camden hugged Isaac again, and everything faded away.
Danny was on the beach in Hawai'i. A wolf came up to Danny and nuzzled him. The grey wolf then began walking off. Danny felt the need to follow and did so. The wolf led Danny to a fire with a traditional Hawaiian Kahuna. The Kahuna said, "Hello, child. I am your great-grandfather, the last true Kahuna of Hawai'i."
Danny said, "Is this a spirit quest?"
The Kahuna said, "it is sad that you are so disconnected from your roots. That is a spiritual tradition from what you would call the mainland. Though a spirit guide from the mainland has joined us." He gestured at the wolf.
Danny said, "I've never really thought about my ancestry. Everything that's left is so tainted by outsiders that I struggled to connect with it."
The Kahuna said, "It showed. You did magic without invoking any spirits. It was very much witchcraft. Not that I disrespect their tradition, it is just not our way. You are lucky the… 'Nemeton' liked you. It is similar to the spirits of the Volcanoes. Your connection to the werewolf pack is interesting to me. It is not something that occurs on the island. We have the occasional wereshark and now wererats, but not werewolves. Beast spirits bound to humans all the same."
Danny asked, "Can I learn to be a Kahuna?"
The Kahuna said, "technically, I would consider you one already. Kahuna means something akin to expert, and you have more than a novice skill at 'hacking' from what I can tell. It is hard to learn new stuff when you are dead. But a magical Kahuna, you have the potential to be. It's not going to be an easy thing to study, and you will have to adapt much of it to your home. You don't have an elemental connection to fire like I do. Your connection to water is also weaker, as you are not on the coast. Earth magic is different, as is air. But you can call the spirits all the same. You have a friend who has collected as many traditional books as he could, learning from all. Dr. Deaton? He should be willing to part with those pertaining to your culture. The way he connects to magic would be pleased."
Danny said, "I would like to attempt at the very least. I already chose not to be a werewolf, but I have been feeling useless when they are in trouble."
The Kahuna smiled. "Then let your spirit guide lead you home. It was a very long journey." The wolf nuzzled against Danny. Danny grabbed on, knowing that was the appropriate action. Everything faded away.
Stiles was in the empty empty again. His mother appeared in front of him once more.
She said, "We have got to stop meeting like this."
Stiles said, "hello mom. Danny done goofed by binding us to a god?"
His mother said, "got it in one. Simply put you have too much life and we need to shove it somewhere."
Stiles said, "Your tone sounds like there's a plan that you already have. Let's hear it."
His mother said, "Well, it's quite simple. You are a special spark, strong enough to overcome the power of lycanthropy. The first time that has ever occurred. But the spark did dim when you did so. So the easiest solution is to rev your spark back up to full power."
Stiles said, "That does seem like an easy solution. Too easy. Drawbacks?"
His mother said, "You will have the ability to switch back and forth between to very different fighting styles. There will not be anyone prepared to train you. Period. Basics you will be able to learn, but you will be the sole expert in a field few can compare to."
Stiles said, "That actually sounds pretty normal for me. Consider me in. As much as I want to see you again, I'll try not to."
His mother said, "I know, my sweet son." They hugged and the empty empty faded away.
The pack began to stir. Angela was sitting over Derek and seemed relieved at this. Stiles spoke first. "Everyone have weird ass dreams?" There was a general murmur of agreement.
Scott said, "I owe you $20 Stiles." Scott looked more muscular.
Derek asked, "Hey Isaac, you ok, buddy?" Isaac looked like he was on the verge of tears.
Isaac said with more confidence in his voice than ever before, "yeah. What happened to me is gonna take some time to process. I, um, merged?…with Camden. So there's a lot in my head right now."
Scott said, "I'm an alpha but I respect your authority Derek." A flare of invisible power passed between them.
Stiles said. "I'm more a spark than I was before."
Lydia said, "I'm a banshee." She looked slightly unnaturally beautiful.
Allison said, "I'm a brand new magical creature. I haven't decided on a name for it yet. Also I met the original Argent." Her eyes had a glimmer of silver in them.
Danny said, "I'm a Kahuna. Or, I will be, once I learn more."
Derek said, "I am a part of the land now." His eyes were now bright green.
Danny asked, "Hey, where's Jackson?"
