*Tap tap tap*

"Hey! Hey, Kouhai!"

*Tap tap tap*

"Kouhaiiiii…"

*Tap tap tap*

*Poke*

*Tap tap tap*

"Man, now I know why Neijire-chan loves doing this. This is top tier fun!"

"Grrr…"

There were two blondes sitting by a plain office desk.

The senior was a cartoonish looking boy who swore he would save at least a million people.

The junior was an angry red eyed boy who swore at millions.

They were Togata Mirio and Bakugou Katsuki.

The former was the up and coming hero Lemillion, who looked closer to becoming the next Symbol of Peace than anyone else in the industry, including the current Number 1 Endeavour.

The latter was simply Bakugou, the one who lost the sports festival, and more recently to a quirkless boy from Gen Ed.

"I'm not fucking looking Tintin…" Katsuki grunted.

Togata shrugged. "Just thought you might be more interested, it is a heroes duty to pay close attention to the current events of the world."

The event Togata was referring to, occured just yesterday.

"7 different countries, Trigger Bombs, 413 dead, 558 in critical condition…"

*Tap tap tap…* His fingers slowly moved to a stop.

"And on top of that Japan was the only one with zero casualties, and apprehended the villains within 20 minutes of the attack."

"Yeah, the commissions been really livin that one up." Togata sweat dropped. "But that's not what I wanted you to see!"

Togata held up his phone to Katsuki's face. "Look! Isn't this the guy who beat the hero students in the sports festival?"

"Huh?" That piqued his interest.

Katsuki took a closer look and indeed it was Deku.

"Man, when everyone ran away from impending doom he ran back. That's pretty badass."

"It's incredibly reckless is what it is." The blue woman scolded from opposite their desk.

"Oh come on Awata-senpai! Sure there might have been enough trigger to kill a man in there but the guys quirkless. At least… he said he was, I mean whatever he did in the sports festival made me really doubt that. But hey, this proves it!"

"Still doesn't change the fact that there were villains in the building." Awata Kaoruko retorted.

"That's right! Maybe he was the one who took them out!"

In the past Katsuki may have interjected and said 'That useless Deku couldn't even squash a bug!' But that would have meant that Katsuki himself was weaker than a bug, and Bakugou Katsuki was the strongest.

But after his whole year at UA, he didn't even know if that was true anymore.

Even before then, that sludge fucker had rendered him useless. Even his awesome quirk turned into nothing but a toy for the damned villain to fuck around with. And what's worse, that damned Deku had tried to save him. He failed of course, and All Might had to step in but for some reason fucking Deku managed to land a blow on the shit face when he couldn't.

Then right after the entrance exam, Katsuki thought he could put that all behind him. Taking solace in the fact that Deku failed and he wrecked the shit out of it, that he made it into the hero course and left Deku in the dirt where he fucking belonged. But of all days, that day was the day where Katsuki's world view shook the hardest.

He had always knew that heroes would always win.

He had always known the strongest would prevail.

He had always thought that the strongest hero would overcome everything this shitty world would ever dish out.

But then All Might had fallen.

On that day after the entrance exam, word had gotten out that All Might was fighting some stupid villain at Kamino ward. There wasn't a doubt on his mind that All Might would destroy this shitty excuse of a villain, he always did. And he was right, All Might did win that battle… at the cost of his life.

There was a double take down and both All Might and the villain took out each other in an explosive battle the likes of which had never seen before. But Katsuki was wrong, while All Might did prevail, while All Might did win the battle, so did the villain. The strongest hero simply wasn't strong enough and crumbled under the pressure of evil.

And so did Katsuki's view on heroes.

So once Katsuki started his first trimester at UA there was no more fucking around. He wasn't going to become just like All Might, he was going to surpass him. Bakugou Katsuki was going to be an even greater hero than All Might ever was, no damned villain was going to ever take him out. He was the strongest, he was a prodigy in their generation, the absolute best.

But he wasn't.

First that Icy Hot bastard who half assed his way through the hero course managed to overpower him. Then that rich bitch managed to beat him in grades, Glasses out-sped him, even fucking Shitty Hair managed to beat him in defence.

And then there was Deku.

Deku the quirkless fucker who somehow managed to beat Half and Half at full power, Deku the useless crybaby who somehow managed to beat him one on one. Deku who despite being the wimpiest fucker he knew somehow scored Round Face as his girlfriend. She was one of the only ones in that shitty class he respected, at the sports festival she was relentless as all fuck, the only one to give him a real good fight. Even on that day where he fought Shitty Deku she kept going and going and going at him, for some reason she just wouldn't give up, like she was punishing herself or some shit, until finally she collapsed and Deku barged in. She was definitely the toughest bitch he knew next to his mother, and for some reason she decided to go out with Deku!?

And to top it all off, Deku wasn't even in the hero course and he still beat him. Deku who never trained, Deku who kept scribbling in those books of his in denial, Deku who failed the hero exam, threw a tantrum and started cutting classes, fell behind on his studies to pick fights, made Midnight mad, made Auntie Inko worry like hell, and threw the fucking sports festival.

Where exactly did he go wrong?

He was the one born with the strongest quirk, he was the one who could do anything he put his mind to, he was the one that everyone thought would be the best. He aced the entrance exam, he made it through the first two trimesters with flying colours and he caught the attention of All Might's former sidekick of all people.

All that and he lost to a useless crybaby who couldn't even pass through the first hurdle, fucked up constantly and wasn't even good enough to pass Gen Ed, much less the hero course.

That was the kind of fucker that beat Bakugou Katsuki.

So what exactly did that make him?

In the end he wasn't just weaker than Deku, he was weaker than so many others in the same class as him.

In the end he didn't even win the sports festival.

In the end he wasn't the one going out with Round Face.

In the end Nighteye hadn't even give him the time of day since Day 1 of his internship, it was only Cartoon Senpai he cared about.

In the end Bakugou Katsuki was nothing like what he and everyone else thought he'd turned out to be.

In the end Bakugou Katsuki was just a weak, pathetic disappointment. A useless fuck who couldn't even beat a quirkless reject, magic hand or not.

Was that the kind of hero that could surpass All Might?

"Yes, he could! Come on, back me up here Bakugou-kun!" Togata yelled.

Bubble Girl sighed. "I'm not saying he couldn't Mirio-kun, I'm saying it's just very unlikely for a quirkless teen to beat 3 armed villains."

"…He could."

"Huh?" / "Sorry?"

"Deku could beat them, he's not completely incompetent…" Katsuki admitted.

"Hah! Take that! Oh Kouhai-tsuki-kun! I always knew I recommended you for a reason!" Togata went in for a hug.

"Piss off." Katsuki shoved him back, eyes still glued to his monitor.

"Mirio-kun?" A high pitched voice called out. "Sir wants to see you."

"Thanks Moashi-senpai, on my way!" Good, at least he could get some peace.

What the fuck was he even doing here?

All he's done since he came here was do one demonstration, which was just him getting beat the shit out of by Togata, go on patrol and sit at this stupid desk. Now because of Aizawa throwing a fit, he was relegated to paper duties, a punishment that Nighteye almost too easily agreed to.

Maybe he should just have taken Jeanist's offer instead, but the prospect of working under All Might's sidekick blinded him.

Or maybe Katsuki had been blind for much longer than he thought.

*Knock Knock*

"You needed to see me sir?" Togata Mirio entered the office.

"Take a seat Mirio."

Mirio did as he was told.

"I've already discussed this with Moashi-kun, but I would prefer if I had your opinion before we proceeded."

"Is this about the recent attacks?"

"Those attacks were just the beginning." Nighteye tossed a file toward Mirio.

Mirio took out a stack of profiles specifically detailing the villains who attacked Japan.

"Tabe Soramitsu, Hojo Yu, Setsuno Toya. Wait Sir, aren't these?"

Nighteye nodded. "You've noticed as well."

"These are all Yakuza, the Shie Hassaikai! But why? What's their MO?"

"The most likely reason would be power, months ago Kai Chisaki was taken out by a mysterious vigilante. Since the fall of All Might and All for One the commission had been trying to fill the gaps with Endeavour and showing support to hero schools. The Shie Hassaikai had likely attempted to fill the power vacuum left behind in the underground, but had suddenly faced a loss of their own."

"And you think they've turned to these terrorists for support?"

"Indeed, from what we gather the goals of the Humarise cult seem to run parallel to Overhaul's own ambitions."

Mirio nodded. "When we interrogated him he did seem to go on and on about the 'disease known as quirks.' Which is oddly similar to Humarise's own anti-quirk ideology."

"Given that the Hassaikai was also known for supplying trigger, it seems like their relationship may have been more beneficial than it initially seemed. But I'm afraid that they are inconsequential compared to what comes next."

"Sir…" Mirio was starting to feel concerned.

"Mirio, what's your status on the search for One for All?"

Mirio sighed. "Nothing of note…"

"You say nothing of note, but there is something on your mind isn't there?"

"I-It's just… Sir, how sure are you that he even passed it on? For all we know, it could have been as simple as the quirk ending with All Might."

Nighteye shook his head. "He specifically turned me down because he found someone to be worthy of the power. We just have to find who."

"And how sure are you that it's with a UA student? Bakugou-kun was honestly my best guess."

"Bakugou Katsuki was an absolute waste of time, there wasn't anything about him remotely close to what Toshinori-san would look for."

"The only ones strong enough were either him or Endeavour's kid, who is off the list because of just that. Besides Kouhai-kun has loads of great traits, strong, wilful, determined-"

"Arrogant, egoistic and blinded by his own explosive power. Nothing like All Might in the slightest."

"But back to the point, is it possible he gave it to someone from a different hero school? Or maybe someone who already graduated and is out in the field?"

"While UA was our best bet given that he was granted a teaching position before he… left, I won't deny the possibility of One for All being someplace outside of UA. None of the other hero schools have an event much like the UA sports festival making it much harder to notice, and a hero who had already made their debut wouldn't show off an ability as flashy as One for All, that would raise a rather dangerous flag. After all if my vision is correct, and I pray to god that it isn't…"

Nighteye sighed and adjusted his glasses. "All for One will make his return soon…"
